Emma Stone for Vogue UK

Posted on July 10, 2012

She’s BAAAACK. Although, truth be told, she never really went away. We’ve been holding onto this one for a while, giving the front page a chance to catch its breath after that Stone-barrage in June. We couldn’t not feature this, though. She looks too cute.

Emma Stone covers the latest issue of Vogue UK magazine photographed by Patrick Demarchelier and styled by Clare Richardson. Hair: Orlando Pita. Make-Up: Hannah Murray.

MaxMara Fall 2012 Collection

Erdem Fall 2012 Collection

Derek Lam Fall 2012 Collection

Miu Miu Fall 2012 Collection

Nothing new under this particular sun, but we reiterate what we said the last time we featured an Emma Stone Vogue spread (in the distant, long-forgotten days of three weeks ago): she looks so good – like, crazy good – when she’s in the hands of world-class stylists, but so uneven when she’s making the publicity rounds. Emma, you need to put these pictures in your scrapbook and hand them to your stylist and makeup artist the next time you have a press tour. Pretty hair and makeup! Dresses that really suit the wearer! These are not tough concepts, girl. If those queens can’t do you right, it’s time to start interviewing new queens.

so much better than her press tour outfits. also, had no idea her “best friend” was taylor swift? wth?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Glad to see it wasn’t just me.  I thought it was Katy Perry and Selena Gomex…  But you know in your early 20’s everyone is your BFF.

But it looks great on Emma.  How cute is that cover shot, showing off her freckles!  Also, nice to see a range of facial expressions...MayorMoney.blogspot.com

    • melizer

I read a number of things about her that disappointed me in articles, recently, but she’s still delightful.

      • MilaXX

        ooh dish, please!

      • Snarky_Amber

        Seconded. Links please!

    • RebeccaKW

I’d love to hang out with Emma, but only if she promises to leave Taylor at home.

      • NC_Meg

I was thinking the same thing! Emma seems so awesome but Taylor…meh.

    • Jessi03

That caught my eye, too!  I’d love to see them bash around town together.  I imagine it involves daintily sipping tea with a shot of bourbon in it.

    • lovelyivy

This gives some credence to my general suspicions that she knows for a fact she’s boring, and the edgy wardrobe that doesn’t suit her is an attempt to hide that fact. Taylor “Vanilla is too exciting” Swift is her bestie, of course.

  • melizer

    Ahhh, the LiLo antidote!

  • RebeccaKW

Normally, I hate the bump it look.  But it looks great on Emma.  How cute is that cover shot, showing off her freckles!  Also, nice to see a range of facial expressions.

    • jmorino08

Yes! I love it when you can see her freckles through the make up. And the color of her eyes is stunning!

      • MilaXX

Agreed. I hate when MUA cover up freckles.

      • moppet

I support the freckles, but I’m positive her eye color has been enhanced. Not her fault, just par for the course when it comes to Photoshop.

        • HobbitGirl

It is possible that it’s a trick of the light without Photoshop. I have big blue eyes myself, and if the lighting’s just right they look seriously intensely photoshopped alien-blue in pictures without having anything done to them. Granted, it’s a magazine, so it probably is “enhanced,” but it IS possible for blue eyes to do weird stuff in photos.

    • Violina23

It’s not doing anything for me personally, but I love the dresses & makeup she’s sporting.

    • http://www.facebook.com/katiewolf2002 Katie Wolf

Agreed, cute cover, but when I looked again I realized part of what I like is that her hat covers up the cat-eye (overused to the point of meaninglessness)

      • RebeccaKW

I agree on the cat eye.  Enough already, I don’t need to see it on EVERYONE!

      • sarahjane1912

Vogue UK has form for this — completely agree! — overused cats-eye look. The not-so-subtle nods to the Twiggy/Shrimpton sixties are a hallmark of this tome and yes, I’m over it too. :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Even though I’m pretty much done with her over exposure, she is so damn precious it’s hard to look away.

  • jmorino08

Love those dresses so much! But they couldn’t find a less awkward smile than that to print?

    • jmorino08

Talking about the pic in the blue dress, btw. Premature comment-ulation.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love the kitten heels that she’s wearing with the Derek Lam dress!

    And she looks great!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

LOVELOVELOVE that cover! She looks cute, fresh, sexy and interesting all at the same time.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Now here’s someone who can WERQ a sex kitten look like her whole career depends on it. She’s piping hot and she’s not even wearing anything revealing or not for her age.

Well done, all involved in this shoot.

  • rainwood1

Love the cover shot.  Everything else looks a little too posed, as if she weren’t comfortable in the clothes or the position.

  • Sobaika

Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are best friends??

    • formerlyAnon

I guess once most of your socializing time is spent at charity events, awards ceremonies, openings, and other events engineered for maximum mutual publicity, the friend pool shrinks.  Alternative but not mutually exclusive theory: once you reach a certain level of famous, the only new friends you can make and not suspect they’re only  nice to you because you’re famous, is other famous people.

    • PinkLemon

I like to think starlet BFF status is oh-so-very different than IRL BFF status………

  • MilaXX

Considering she was just in a whiteboard post yesterday, I can’t say we’ve had a breather from the Emma fest, but I have to admit she looks good here. Even the hat doesn’t bother me.

  • AlexisPayne

Whoa, did Elle UK and Vogue UK collaborate this month with their star editorials?

  • TieDye64

I love that cover shot so much. She looks so freaking cute.

  • abfidy

I was so busy being charmed by the lovely Emma Stone that I didn’t think to put up my defenses, never suspecting that such cute pictures could yield something offensive. But there it is: “…says her best friend Taylor Swift.” GROSS.

ETA: That cover is kinda sexy, non? Not an adjective I usually ascribe to her.

  • Amanda in Austin

In my fantasy world, I am Emma’s best friend. I’m so fake upset to hear her actual BFF is Taylor Swift. And now I’m a little teeny bit less smitten with Emma. But I’d still be her best friend if she asked me. Call me, Emma! We can totally hang out!

  • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

The blue dress and the cover shot are the best…simply the best, she looks amazing there.

  • j_anson

“…says her best friend Taylor Swift.”

Well, THAT was definitely the record-needle screeching moment for my attitude toward Emma Stone.

    • TropiCarla

ITA. Taylor Swift is so damn VANILLA she makes my teeth ache.
I’ve been loving me some Emma Stone for the last couple years. She’s the quirky girl I can live with – Deschanel is overdone.

      • j_anson

I don’t mind Swift being vanilla. I mind that her vanillaness comes across as so totally, utterly calculated.

  • Catiline

Gosh, she is beautiful.  I caved and saw the Spider-Man movie and she is very talented as well.

  • PinkLemon

that smiling pic is so awkward

  • TheDivineMissAnn

LOVE the blue dress and the black and white one too.

  • AnaRoW

I am now officially tired of her. So much so that I can’t even form an opinion on how she looks here.

    • iCouture

Yet you felt the need to post that??  Why not just ignore the post?

      • AnaRoW

I don’t know why I posted that. Trying to avoid work? Sorry.

  • VicksieDo

    1. Now I hate Taylor Swift even more because I want to be BFF with Emma.  2. I thought her eyes were more green than blue? LOVE THE PICTURES.

  • MzzPants

That Erdem dress needs to go right in her closet.

  • another_laura

I think she looks really lovely in these pics, even though at this point I’m starting to think that the Mary Quant-era makeup and hair has got to go for the time being.  I am not really weary of her yet – I just made sure and no, I haven’t seen any of her movies – but she looks adorable.

One quibble is that I think I prefer the Derek Lam dress in a not-micro-mini length.

  • http://twitter.com/vickiro51 victoria rodeno

What’s with the big fatty fatty hair? Ew. Between Mila and Ema, biggy biggy hair is out!!!

  • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

If I were Emma, I’d have that cover shot blown up, framed and have it hanging over my mantle. She looks adorable and approachable and just super cute.

I also love an editorial where you can see, and cover, the clothes.

  • EEKstl

Luv. Huh.  And she looks mahvelous.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Louise-Bryan/1177213326 Louise Bryan

Love the Erdem and Derek Lam dresses.  The Miu Miu scares me, and it is WAY too hot for the MaxMara.  Showing clothes way ahead of season made a lot of sense when people made their own clothes, but these days?  Why bother?

  • nannypoo

Maybe Taylor Swift is a more interesting person than everyone seems to think. Just sayin’. Anyway, Emma is really a great model. She’s convincing in lots of different kinds of looks and she always looks pretty no matter what they try to do to her. Gobs of makeup,  giant hair, slutty, girl-next-door, she makes it all work.

  • tereliz

Wow, that Miu dress can actually look classy when layered over a shift. Take note, Chloe! (Sevigny, not Moretz) Love the color of the Erdem on her. Wish she could have worn that one out during her barrage of publicity shoots last month.

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

“Her best friend Taylor Swift” stopped me dead in my tracks. I’ve got nothing after that.

  • TVKimmy

Adorable, might I still miss the redheaded Emma. I think it made her unique.

  • iCouture

Completely agree!  Like anyone here knows Taylor personally

Emma seems to be able to make most anything work, love her soo much!

  • quiltrx

    Really love all these looks!

Though since they went SO short with the third look, I would have vetoed the “you can almost peep my cooter” pose.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RHLSUVX3NCPB4OSS5BM7GZIXUE P. Capet

perfect choices; what a wonderful stylist

  • crash1212

Great make-up – LOVE the bump-it hair and would kill for the Derek Lam dress. She’s way cute…and IMHO you can feature little Miss Emma as often as you like!

  • bluefish

Very cute 60s hair, make-up, clothing and shoe thing going on with these.  She looks great.   LOVE the little shoes in the photo with the lame Taylor Swift quote — “Somehow she just is … ”  Really?

  • ballerinawithagun

Love the dresses, especially the Erdem!

  • tonibaloney

Give us that Erdem dress. We neeeeds it.

  • guest2visits

She manages to make the quirkiest designs look cute, and chic.

  • frankystein123

Love the spread, but the big hair really doesn’t do it for me.

  • Judy Raddue

In that cover shot, she looks like a young Michelle Pfeiffer.  Doesn’t get much better than that…

  • Dhammadina

She looks better than the model in each of those outfits. Are her eyes really that blue?

  • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

So much better than her publicity rounds, that cover photo is super cute. She does the “Girl-Next-Door” look so well, or even the La Petite Gamine! please stop trying to make her a sex kitten!

  • mhleta

LiLo must be seething with envy. Emma is having her career and doing a far better job of it. I don’t think her press tour was a disaster at all. A few missteps, but overall interesting and fairly awesome.

  • Larkin21

She looks great in all these pictures but especially the cover. Also loving her hair color.

  • ccm800

Im finding this one insufferable at this point and Spiderman blew.

  • librarygrrl64

WANT those shoes that she’s wearing with the black and white Lam dress!!!

  • http://promiscuouslola.com/ Cate

The only thing new I learned about Emma from these is that her best friend is T. Swift and I hate that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=4501978 Martha Jackson Deutsch

exactly what i was going to say. i used to irrationally like e.s. (the way one irrationally dislikes other celebrities), but since i irrationally HATE t.s., i’m going to have to rethink it.

  • Beth G

Why is her best friend Taylor Swift?  Why can’t her best friend be Heather Johnson who she’s known since she was 5 and they used to do everything together…..

    • joe_tey83

Because nobody knows who Heather what’s her name is.

Although a savvier smarter PR person would have employ a nobody as a BFF to have her seem down to earth and whatever.
