Diane Kruger is Hot in Paris

Posted on July 02, 2012

Having sent her man a message when he tried to drag her to the NHL awards, Diane is back in chic form and, not coincidentally, back at events more suited to her fierce self.

Diane Kruger attends a private dinner during the Berluti Menswear Spring 2013 show in Paris.

Givenchy Spring 2012 Collection

This look almost perfectly serves as an answer to the question, “It’s hot and I need to look fabulous. What should I wear?”  That thing looks cool and comfortable, but still manages to turn heads. We don’t love the color of it, but that’s a minor quibble because it’s all about the shape and about that collar. The hair’s kinda so-so, but then again, it’s high summer and this outfit is clearly meant to give off that effortless air. Fabulous choice of shoes.

Like a cool glass of water.

I love her toenail polish. Is that weird? Most starlets seem to be matching them precisely to their clothes or just leaving them sans-pedi.

      • gabbilevy

My toes are almost exactly that color. Digging those tangerine shades right now.

She looks great!  Not sure the color of toenail polish goes with the look, though.

Diane looks perfect to me.  And I love that pale orchid shade on her.  The hair could be a skosh more controlled for my taste, but otherwise, lovely.

Aren’t those the same shoes Bey was wearing in this morning’s post?

      • kimmeister

Yes, I think they’re becoming the new ubiquitous pairs for the season, along with those stupid half-clear Louboutins and the criss-crossy Jimmy Choos.

        • http://twitter.com/jordandefrank Jordan DeFrank

UGH those half-clear Louboutins are killing me. They’re EVERYWHERE!

        • LJCdoc

I can live with everyone wearing these, if it means I don’t have to see the stupid half-clear Louboutins ever again.

          • Celandine1

      • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Yes, and I covet them!!  Probably two months’ mortgage payment, but still….

    • Spicytomato1

I dunno. I think the dress might be a bit too boxy on her. Love everything else, though, especially those shoes. They seem to be everywhere now, no?

      • http://www.facebook.com/izzzyy Dixie Murphy Ross

Agreed. First thought was “what if it had just the tiniest of waist tucks?”

        • MilaXX

           Exactly. just a tiny bit.

      • AudreysMom

So, does it unbutton in the front and there’s a sheath underneath, or is it all one piece? It does look cool, comfortable but a little confusing, and yes, boxy.

        • Spicytomato1

I was wondering the same thing! It reminds me of my childhood tap dancing costumes, which always had a leotard sewn inside the costume part. This does sort of seem a little “All That Jazz.”

          • AudreysMom

on close up the inside piece is a different, dare I say, leotard like fabric. So Diane could be ready to break into dance!

    • tereliz

Love this look. DIgging the sandals on her more than on Michelle Williams. Very summer-chic.

    • Lilithcat

Hate the shoes (no more ankle straps, please!), love the dress.

    • In_Stitches

Such an ugly color that works so damn well on her.  The cool tone really brightens up her skin.  She can come across as icy (in disposition and skin tone) and this color helps soften both.  I think it could be a touch more tailored, not fitted, but tailored, so it doesn’t widen out from the hips, but other than that, it’s perfect.

    • BazoDee

      Nailed it!

    • MilaXX

No bueno. I like the color on her, but that’s it. This looks baggy and over sized. I don’t mind a lose fit, but this looks like she could have gone down a size. Hopefully those Givenchy sandal don’t become as common as the Loubitins have.

      • SaoirseLee

Not a fan of it either, not even the colour, which seems to highlight the red tones in her skin.

It’s so boxy, it makes her look scrawny, as opposed to elegantly slim, as she normally appears. Shoes and hair aren’t good either/

I’m really being a Negative Nelly here but she looks a little frazzled and haggard, two words never usually associated with Diane Kruger, she’s so fabulous. Obvs needs a bit of a cuddle from the Pacey.

        • Judih1

I agree with you and for the first time in a while disagree with TLo

      • Nariya

I’m with you. The bag-like way it hangs on her gives me a total hospital gown vibe. The collar’s cool, but I’m not buying the rest of it.

    • alyce1213

It makes her look a bit boxy/clunky at the waist and hips. I’d like to see a gentle tuck or slight shape there, not too tailored, subtle.  (What’s with the puckering at the closure?)

    • Jangle57

I love the color and the shoes and only regret is there’s no way I could ever wear them with my legs and my wide feet.  Dress is bit boxy but she’s slim enough to pull it off.  Hair is heat and humidity hair and I’ll give her a pass for that

    • Judy_J

I’d like to see it a bit more tailored.  It’s a bit too boxy for her slim figure.

    • msdamselfly

Not feeling the shape of this dress

    • jtabz

I love that she wore a menswear-inspired dress to a menswear show. Clever girl.

    • crash1212

I love her hair and only wish I could get mine to look so effortlessly tussled but not JBF. Love the outfit – perfect for a hot day. Those shoes have been making the rounds and I must say, she’s paired them perfectly…and they actually seem to fit!

    • elleg929

“it’s all about the shape and about that collar”  —  what shape??

      • holdmewhileimnaked

        rectangle, i believe.

    • another_laura

I like that color on her.  The shape just says ‘cool, baby, cool’ and I lerve it.  The lip color is not doing it for me and I do not like the heavy ankle strap on those sandals, it looks out of proportion to me.

HOWEVER, the stars are back in alignment – this is SUCH an improvement over that tacky mess she was in the other day!

    • kittenwithaquip

Diane Kruger is an absolutely beautiful woman, but she is ill served by her limp, thin hair. I hate that long hair seems to be synonymous with feminine or sexy, especially when it’s not very healthy hair. She would look so much prettier if she chopped some of that off.

    • cleep1000

      Perfection.

    • anotherkate

Only the rich and famous would have a “private” dinner with a red carpet (okay, a patio. But a photo-posing situation!)

She looks fab, though. I hope those Givenchy sandals are the new plastic Louboutins. So sick of those!

    • butterflysunita

I don’t like the dress.  It looks like an envelope.

    • Mary Baumer

and she is wearing the IT color (of coral) for her toenail polish.  this lady is such a dish.

    • bellafigura1

Who’s the designer?  I love it.

      • RzYoung

Me too, who designed it TLo?

    • CassieLee22

      just fabulous

    • holdmewhileimnaked

oversize shapeless white collar lilac tuxedo vest? is it just me?
oh probably. shoes are great, however.

      • charlotte

It isn’t just you. I’m seeing this along the lines of an oversized diner waitress uniform, although I like the color on her.

    • Joey Melliza

      brava frauline!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1208138556 Sara Munoz Munoz

I like the shoes; hope I don’t get sick of them.
But the dress is just… NO.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sierra-Delta/100003182924700 Sierra Delta

It’s 100 degrees here today.  I wish I looked as chic and cool…

    • HK4Seven

I think this is boxy and unflattering on her frame.  It looks like scrubs!  The horizontal pockets are just crawling all over me.  I do like the shoes though.

    • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Krysta

It’s a bit on-the-nose to wear a dress with lapels to a menswear show, no?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      I dislike this completely.

    • sweetestsith

It looks like an awkward take on the 90s suits to me. I HATED those suits, and want to burn this thing. Better luck next time Diane.

    • HobbitGirl

Shape? What shape? She is a lego block. Nein.

      • PaulaBerman

         Thank god someone said it.

    • guest2visits

She looks really great; head to toe. And that classifies as a smile for Diane.

    • BrightsideSusan

      Perfectly cool.

    • formerlyAnon

I’d give it a WERQ. I love it that much.

    • teensmom99

Summertime WERQ. So glad someone knows what season it is as I swelterin 100 degree weather.

    • SophieCollier

It can’t be that hot in Paris.  Have you SEEN Sharon Stone’s nipples?

    • portsmouthliz

Ew, no. Looks like a home sewist hacked the sleeves off an 80s blazer, a la Pretty in Pink. Diane looks lovely but the dress… just no.

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

      super cool

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

love the color on her, actually

    • Mirakel9

Really?? I think this is awful – boxy and ugly.
