Yea or Nay: Tory Burch Resort 2013 Bags

Posted on June 20, 2012

Ladies, it is a crushingly hot day in the world outside the gates of T Lo Estates. Four out of doctors recommend talking about accessories as a way to combat heat stroke. And who are we to argue with that?

Consider the Tory Burch bags from her Resort collection:

Beachy Norah Flat Clutch

Beachy Norah Bucket Tote

Beachy Norah Bucket Tote

Rattan Basket

Tina Mini Bag

Fache Large Tote

We’re just going to come right out and say it: none of this is really to our tastes. But we’re just self-aware enough to admit that we’re obviously not the market for these bags and just because they’re not to our tastes doesn’t mean they’re not covetable. Most women don’t walk a red carpet, after all, and these are, like all of Tory Burch’s work, a direct appeal to “real” women. It’s what she’s all about.

So, real women, what do y’all think?

Tory Burch Resort 2013 Bags: YEA or NAY?

We can’t really get behind any accessory with pom-poms on it, but we kinda dig that Rattan Basket bag for being so old school.

AWFUL. A resort collection for Muppets.

      • EditKitten

        AWESOME. And awesomely true.

        • http://ufil.ms/bK6Pk Marion M. Sipos

thing I really like is the Rattan Basket, and I’m sure my cats would like it even more...DemoforFrank.blogspot.com

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Ms. Piggy would like you to know that she would not be caught dead carrying one of those pomponed monstrosities.  HI-YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

Now swishing her hair back and sashaying away

    • splix71

The rattan basket bag is cute. The rest, not so much. And those colored pompoms – gross. Like dying button chrysanthemums.

      • http://twitter.com/londonpenguin Teresa M.

I like the rattan basket bag too, but you know it makes a ton of noise when you’re rooting around in it for your keys.

HATE the pompoms! They look they came from a child’s craft project kit circa 1974.

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

      Crazy grandma in Miami.

    • MoHub

Possibly the next evolution of fleurchons?

      • hmariec19

        NOOOOOOO!!! NOT THE FLEURCHONS!!!!

      • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

That was my first thought too – fleurchons!  Run away!!!!!!!!!

      • giiiirrrr

Oh Angela, we hardly knew ye.  Oh wait, we knew ye for NINE episodes–they even brought you BACK after elimination.  Oh, the Holly Hobby horror.

    • jmorino08

I like the rattan one but the rest look cheap and dated to me. And those poof balls look scratchy.

    • gsk241

The only thing I really like is the Rattan Basket, and I’m sure my cats would like it even more.

      • CozyCat

I once made the mistake of buying a couple really cute rattan laundry hampers….

    • http://twitter.com/moore60526 Karen Moore

Rattan Basket is lovely.  The rest, no.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

Nothing new here.  Target has better.

      • Qitkat

Poor Target. 3 mentions in 19 comments. I need to read ahead.

    • lovelyivy

NAY. There’s one bag I’d rock, but only if someone else bought it for me. Pass on the fraggle rock bag collection.

    • clatie

“Real” woman here who thinks they’re awful.

    • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

The Fache reminds me of those commericals in the 80s for making your own blankets using yarn squares. The commercial sold you a plastic tool that allowed you to work yarn magic, twist, and the square would magically come off. A few simple stitches, and you have a Tory Burch purse the whole family can enjoy.

      • inprovo

         Exactly!

      • Wendi126

And constructed by an earth mother from the 70’s in hideous sepia tones so it feels natural and using a chain she trash picked from a broken chandelier from the 60’s.

        • Qitkat

Wait a minute, dammit. There was a time in the seventies that I considered myself an Earth Mother.
Are you saying that was not a good thing?

          /sarcasm/

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

      NAY for me.

    • sherrietee

I like the rattan one, and the mini bag is interesting, but the rest can go in the dumpster.

    • l3icest3r

      Strictly Pinterest type stuff.

    • EEKstl

While the Rattan Basket is quite nice, the rest look like something you could find at Target for a twentieth of the cost.

      • Qitkat

Oh, you beat me by 38 seconds. lol.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Snorting.  The Tina Mini Bag looks like a DIY project where you take some old sisal flooring from Cost Plus, and re-purpose it as a “cute, fun, summer bag”

      • minnye

Or those 70’s coasters. My mom had a set that were dyed and shaped like fruit.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Gawd! I had forgotten about those! We had a set hanging around for summer alfresco dinners in the back yard. Hee hee.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Those things were a staple at Pier One stores in the 70’s weren’t they?

          • minnye

I think you’re right. My mom was one of those who wore wooden beads and earth tones and our house had a lot of stuff from Pier One. Now you guys have me nostalgic for those fruit coasters and wondering whether she still has them!

        • TieDye64

Wow, now that brings me back. My best friends’ mother had those things! I’d forgotten all about them.

      • SaoirseLee

Lolz, it really has that make-and-do vibe about it.

The pom-pom ones put me in mind of that episode of Sex & the City where Jennifer Coolidge/Stifler’s Mom starts making hideous fluff-adorned handbags to get over a break-up.

    • eight_of_nine

The Rattan bag is kind of charming and beachy.  The pompoms are hiddy beyond all belief.

    • SpcilK

Horrible! I can go to Montego Bay Jamaica and buy all 6 bags for 80 bucks. That’s obviously what she did.

      • lovelyivy

Ha! My grandmother actually owns a tourist shop in Montego Bay Jamaica, and this is absolutely 100% true. I am pretty sure I had something much like the rattan, tina and quilt-looking bags when I was 8.

        • bitchybitchybitchy

Hmmm….perhaps we’ll be reading a news article about Tory Burch entering the witness protection program after the Jamaican crafters come after her.

      • CozyCat

I picked up one of the original rattan hand bags (that this one is obviously modeled on) at a garage sale for $2.  The lining shows its age a bit, but it’s still really cute.

    • YayaGurl

The rattan are OK.  The puffballs are too crafty, homemade not handmade.

    • http://twitter.com/wednesdaydreams Natalie

Nay… Tory Burch is usually better than this!

      • Aurumgirl

I’m not sure if Tory Burch is usually better than this.  I just don’t get these or much of anything she designs, not today, not at all.

    • rh33

Go to any estate sale in the Midwest and you can find a vintage version of these for 5 bucks.

    • schadenfreudelicious

That first clutch with the pompoms looks like a kindergarten student used mom’s purse for craft day….

    • http://twitter.com/WhoraRabinowitz Rizzle

“Real” women don’t want these either

    • tereliz

The rattan basket is cute and classy, the rest look cheap. Especially the pompoms. Very aging.

    • MilaXX

I like the rattan basket and maybe the Tina mini . The pom pom bags are just silly and the tote looks like something I could get from target.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=678337501 Carla Axtman

Not even if you paid me.

    • Qitkat

Sea urchins gone to a horrible chemical dyed death; the seagrass rug I had in college in Florida, a looong time ago; granny quilt squares tried (and failed) just one more time to become fashionable.

Didn’t know you guys featured bags I could buy at Target. I’ll just rush on over :-p

    • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

      Nay.

The only somewhat okay one is the Rattan Basket.

      • Qitkat

And any gal *of a certain age* has already had one just like it.
/clears throat/goes to look in bottom of closet/

    • DeborahJozayt

Grandma’s been knitting while on crystal meth today…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=625120374 Jessica Walsh

      RATTAN BASKET.
      love.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

The Norah bags are truly awful. All of it is straight up Boca Raton Ross. Nay.

    • http://twitter.com/antheapena anthea pena

I like the whimsy of the beach totes but the monkey balls are too much. Do you take it to the beach or to Daniel to lunch? hard to say. I’d be pushed to say I love any but the rattan is best. Next

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CQPXLNCBM5CZSHZZXJDHPVFS7E Buffy

Ummm… No.  The basket bag is cute and retro but not workable in real life.

    • Lori

If you told me you found these at Target I’d say that a couple of them were cute and the rest were crazy. At Tory Burch prices they’re all crazy.

    • Elizabeth Herman

What really bugs me is that these will be available at Tory Burch prices.  I’m not sure i would want this style even if it was at Target, but at least then it would be the right price point for something with pompoms.

      • OmegaMu

“Real” women shop at Target and don’t spend $460 on a straw tote bag.

    • kikisayshi

      No thank you.

    • VicksieDo

If they were $20, maybe…at the prices these must be, no way.

    • Reneesance

The rattan basket is pretty (and I have an Etienne Aigner vintage one sitting in my etsy shop)  But the rest go over the end into twee grandma purse land.  And that is a land we don’t want to visit.

    • http://twitter.com/DeannaNMc DeannaNMc

Aw, it’s Sophia Petrillo formal purses.

    • lucyloo222

Just say no to pom-poms… and crocheted squares and oh God, I can’t get past the pom-poms.  The wicker one is kind of cute though.

    • melanie0866

Nay.   But now we’re just piling on.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/R6OP6BTUBNAJOBIIACR5XZJ4IM Karen C

I am LOL @ Fraggle bags.  Too true.  Like the Rattan, but doesn’t looks functionable to me.  Stiff.

    • Jangle57

They remind me of the purses Carrie’s friend made and tried to sell in Sex and the City as a way to get over a bad breakup – and were the ugliest purses you’ve ever seen.

    • butterflysunita

Nay! I am a real woman who would never use a purse that involved skinning a Muppet.

      • CozyCat

        A BABY Muppet.

    • Jessica O’Connell

Like you, in general I’d say NAY, because the bags with the pom poms kind of look like a summer camp kid got a little out of control with her glue gun. I don’t know a “real” woman who would want pom poms on her bag. I do like the Rattan Basket, but that’s the only one I really like.

    • http://twitter.com/msjwatt J.Watt

I like the Rattan Basket. The rest should be burned!

    • ChaquitaPhilly

      Heh, heh, heh……

    • janetjb

The only one I like is the Rattan Basket.  The pompoms are just awful.

    • judybrowni

i avoid any purse that’s bound to snag on something and unravel.

snag and unravel bags plus pom poms, ick. although the rattan is retro cool.

    • http://teabagsinfusion.blogspot.com/ Laura Toepfer

Yeah, my first reaction was “pom-poms? Well, my dogs will love them.” Too artsy-craftsy-folksy for me. But then I like ‘em sleek and chic. These are clearly not meant for me.

    • Lilithcat

Nay.  Loathe the pom-poms, and that last one looks like a craft project gone wrong.  The rattan bag’s not bad.  But at what I am sure is the price point for these, “not bad” doesn’t cut it.

    • plinkiedoodle

Let me get my head out of the toilet long enough to say, “barf.”

    • Martova

      Barf.

    • http://twitter.com/A_SmallFry AC

      ew. nay!

    • http://profiles.google.com/rociosaurio Rocío Vázquez

      My eyes!!!
      No. NO. NO!!!!!

    • AthenaJ

I guarantee the style equivalent of that last purse can be found at any thrift store. Did someone say ‘fug’?

    • Merridith Kristoffersen

I don’t get Tory Burch and this is another example why.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

Nay to all except that rattan bag – that one, I like.

      • Jan Lundgren

I’d like it better if it were lined. Imagine all the little things that will get stuck in the rattan.

    • kimmeister

Nay.  The only one I’d even think about using, for the beach, would be the blue bucket tote.

    • Jessi03

      No, Tory.

    • BayTampaBay

NAY! Awful!  Fugly…just plain old Fugly!

    • MilaXX

The rattan bags are just ripoffs of the Nantucket basket bags with her emblem on them, no?

    • Sara__B

Cant you buy those straw ones from street vendors in Tijuana? Only they’re more tastefully decorated.

    • twocee

Do not like.  The top ones look like they are covered in Koosh(TM) Balls.

    • http://twitter.com/iraki86 IraKi

Oh God, I am blind! BLIND I tell you! (nay)

    • Flooby

LOVE the blue bucket tote.  It’s so fun!  I could totally rock that in Miami visiting my in-laws.

    • another_laura

No, no, no, no, no and no.

    • Addicted2Glamour

I’m sure someone here has already said it, but these are awfully Etsy. NAY.

    • crash1212

No pom-poms – EVER. Only one of these I could remotely see me carrying is the rattan basket and that would be a last resort….resort…see what I did there?

    • Tracy_Flick

There’s a way to make the craft-project aesthetic chic, but this isn’t it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ginny-Ellsworth/534496198 Ginny Ellsworth

Didn’t Tim Gunn have a gigglefest over “furry balls” on one of the dime store challenges on PR?

    • PastryGoddess

Real women say OUT!  Looks like 5 year old slaves made these at sleep away camp

    • http://aldonsusi.blogspot.com/ Susi R

      The pom-poms ruin the bags.

    • AlexisPayne

The rattan basket is the only one here I like, the rest are total Holly Hobbie or Project Accessories

    • http://www.facebook.com/izzzyy Dixie Murphy Ross

Out. If I wanted to add little tiki umbrellas to a straw bag, I’d use a gluegun and save money.

    • Joyce VG

      NAY and meh.

    • rumcg66

NAY. The rattan one is acceptable, but not great, and those pom poms are just atrocious.

    • jilly_d

      ACK!!  No, no, NO!

    • Pennymac

I can get crap like this on Etsy. Or the hell with it, buy some pom-poms and use my hot glue gun. NAY!

    • Synnamin

I kind of like the basket, but otherwise… meh.

    • KaileeM

ICK. Hate the pom poms, and I don’t care for the wicker or the rattan either.

    • Zippypie

Craft projects.  They would go well with crocheted toilet paper covers.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

These bags could be sitting next to one of those dolls with the big crocheted skirts that cover toilet paper.

    • LilyPad

A big no from me. These are the types of bags that I make fun of when I see them in thrift stores, and putting a $3000 price tag on them does not make them any more tasteful.

    • FashionShowAtLunch

      NAY. NAY NAY NAY.

    • Kara Keenan

The Rattan is OK, the pom pom bags are horrible, and the Fache tote looks just like the “pocketbook” that my grandmother carried in the early 1990’s (and I’m pretty sure she had a sweater that matched it).

    • allj

I apparently have the same tastes as middle aged men- I like the rattan a lot, but I just can’t get behind the others. I’m trying to picture someone more adventurous than I walking down the street with one of these, but I just can’t.

      • formerlyAnon

What bugs me is I *can* picture someone walking down the street with most of these, and looking hideous.

    • mellorcr

Except for the clutch at the top, my mother owned all of these in the 60’s and 70’s.  Nothing new here!  If I’m being 1oo% honest, I have to say that the blue and red ones were humongous beach totes in the 70’s and perhaps they are re-scaled here.  I don’t think that improves them much.

    • Larkin21

Not really a fan of any of them.

    • allisankelly

They all remind me of bags my grandma and mom had in the 70’s that I then played with in the 80’s. The bottom 3 especially, and those are the ones I like. Especially the last one.

    • Lina_bee

The rattan is awesome but so totally impractical. It would get crushed and broken within the first week of use…assuming the cats didn’t get it first.  The muppet-fur pompoms are hilariously kitchy, but also anything but practical. And Granny’s knitting bag looks just like Granny’s knitting bag — which surely she can make herself.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

      Hate.

    • E_bee

I smell a Salvation Army store when I look at these.

    • NurseEllen

The rattan basket is the only YEA of the bunch.  All the rest look like ones my grandmother picked up in the ’60s when she was taking her yearly cruises to the Caribbean.  She would use them for a little bit and then my sisters and I inherited them for the dress-up box.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/K3O2QNXDJIU3AJINAGNJRYWDZ4 mrspotts66

      horridly impractical.

    • http://twitter.com/LOfficielEbony TheVeryLivingEND

Pom poms… do with that what you will.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AYQCICXEN2CCDBFV5HED4Z2RUA Dee B

The rattan and the Tina mini are the only two worth anything.  The pom poms are horrid.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

cant get any realer than me & i’m not crazy about em either. i kinda sorta like the mini bag–no matter that it’s definitely gonna be too small–& i get where yr coming from about the basket. but the rest of em? the granny squares &, so help me, the wretched wretched pompoms? oh heavens, no.

    • mjude

NAY.  never been a fan of purses that look like they are made of straw but on the other hand they are “barbie” perfect.

    • marilyn

Nay.  The pompom bags look like craft projects.  The rest of them look like the sale table at Penneys at the end of summer-you know, the stuff no one wanted to buy.  They don’t look special, they don’t look expensive, they don’t look designer.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

      Ugly. UGLY!

    • Shari Sherman

You call them pom-poms; in my neck o’ the woods we call them dingle balls. Regardless, my knee-jerk reaction was “Eww! Old lady bags!” But I confess I love the Fache Large Tote because I crocheted hundreds of granny squares many, many years ago…but it’s still an old lady bag.

    • Laylalola

Nay. Your preteen can get the kits to make the first three at a Michael’s craft store (or maybe Wal-Mart or Target).

    • Nicole Merrill

NAY. Pompoms are not for anything.

    • fashionzombie

      I hate them all.

    • NCDFan

Those are my great grandmother’s bags!  Ugh. Look like craft projects for the elderly.

    • AnaRoW

      Nay.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

      My cat would LOVE these.

      Cheap-looking.

    • http://twitter.com/mdcoon127 mdcoon127

      Like the Rattan basket…

    • Jennifer L.

      Baby Tribbles.

    • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

Pretty cute and 60’s-70’s retro.  But I’d rather have a vintage Enid Collins bag

      • Wellworn

I just sold my mom’s old Enid Collins bag on Ebay.  There are good deals on EC bags there.

    • lifetime_student

The rattan bag is cute. If I wanted any of the pompom bags, I would save myself some money by going to Target for the bag and the craft shop for the pompoms.

    • yulaffin

I kind of like the rattan basket one but the rest – awful.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Pom-poms and granny squares.  They’re totally just making fun of us at this point.

    • http://twitter.com/awtchy1 Ashley

      Nay to the 20th power.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000088447181 Sam Smith

Nay to all, except a maybe to the rattan basket one.

    • miagain

be gone pom poms, be gone!
The rattan bag however will always have a place to call home in my closet!

    • Lisa Dugan

The rattan one is nice and the mini is passable but the others…ick.

    • http://graduallygreener.wordpress.com/ GraduallyGreener

NAY to everything except the rattan basket.

    • nancy

I’m sure I could take a quick run through Valu-Craft, grab some pompons & fringe & make a bag too. Yuck. But I do like the rattan basket bag. The Tia mini bag looks like it was made out of those uncomfortable floor coverings that are not quite rugs.

    • Wellworn

Looks like someone went to the clearance sale at Michaels and had a craft purse party.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Hiddy. I would make fun of anyone carrying one of these. Not out loud of course. But in my head, I would be judging them for their lack of taste.  I’m judging Ms. Burch right now.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

The rattan basket is OK, but the pompom fringe is OUT, OUT, OUT, as are the rest of the bags, in m humble opinion.

    • TieDye64

NAY! But I do kinda like the bucket totes since they look a little kitschy and fun and the colors are fun for summer. But NOT at that price, no way. The rest are truly hiddy.

    • Charmella…a DIVA at large!

NAY!…Looks like the LOVING HANDS AT SUMMER CAMP Collection!

    • bailey debruynkops

      HIDEOUS AS ALWAYS

    • MarissaLG

      NAY. Just…nay.

      Blech.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Imma make like a horse and NAY. Hideous.

    • clairellis

I like the rattan basket bag the best. I’d never be able to afford it though bc Tory Burch might make bags for the real woman but she sure as shit doesn’t make bags real women can afford.

    • http://twitter.com/kerrymccombs Kerry McCombs

      Yuck. Who would WANT these?

    • BrightsideSusan

      NO!!!

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

The only one I would consider carrying is the rattan basket, it looks like something out of the 60s or 70s

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

UGH.  Hate them all with the possible exception of the first basket purse… Those pom pom things graced pillows and draperies in the mid 1970’s.  Pom Poms should be BURNED.

    • formerlyAnon

NAY. The pom pom-ed ones need to be destroyed. The others are just not my thing. Don’t know why anyone would pay Tory Burch prices for those, but I’m sure they are better made than their Kohls equivalents.

    • pookiesmom

      Koosh Ball purses.

    • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

I kind of hate them all.

    • lesmaha

those first three bags match Carrie Underwood’s tap shorts.

I LOVE the Beachy Nora Bucket Tote. Go Pompoms! (Seriously never thought I would ever say that, but there ya go!)

    • petalfrog

Hiddy… but then again I’ve never been a TB fan and actually severely disliked her on Project Runway that one time she ripped someone a new one for using turquoise and orange, yet her entire line previously was filled with those colors. PU

    • Lisa Kramp

The clutch is a no; I’d own the rest of them in a heartbeat and I would commit manslaughter for the rattan basket. I always carry straw bags in the summer here; they’re such a change from the clones everyone else has. Those bags are fun and happy and that’s what summer is about, ladies!

the rattan basket is calling me, but I think it is because I have had bags like that. They are very “resort”. Would love a Tori, but not these…

    • NDC_IPCentral

Holy moly.  Crafts kitch ala the early 1970s.  Pom-pom fringe??  For the luvamike, Ms. Burch has a lot to answer for.  And that rattan bag that the gang seems to be willing to give a pass to?  That monstrosity was foisted upon us decades ago, and it absolutely shreds your garment as it brushes up against its fabric.  NAY to the nth degree!

    • lrhoff

      Yikes, no pom poms, please.

    • http://profiles.google.com/dkbbmail Dorrene BrownButterfield

From craft day at the nursing home?!

      Hello 1970’s!!!

    • save_the_hobbit

Ew is the only descriptive word I can come up with.

    • http://twitter.com/MajorBedhead MajorBedhead

The rattan bag is nice, but only as long as it’s lined well. The rest look like something I made at summer camp in crafts class.

    • ThaliaMenninger

It’s the Crafty Hands at Home Collection.

    • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

I like the pom poms but then I bought a huge bagful in Chiang Mai this winter with plans to use them on… something…

      • formerlyAnon

You make sure and let us know what you eventually do with those, you hear?

    • Mariah Warnock-Graham

My grandma carried each and every one of these bags.

    • Cat_In_A_Hat

They look ridiculous with that very serious, and very ugly logo tacked onto them.

    • quiltrx

Yea to the rattan basket, Nay to the rest.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

      nay

    • http://twitter.com/MarfMom Maya

yay to the rattan basket, nay to everything else

    • guest2visits

The rattan basket bag is nice; but basket bags are a chore.. this one isn’t even lined.

      • formerlyAnon

not lined? at Tory Burch prices? That’s just sloppy.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

Nothing that makes me stop to ask, “Where *did* you get that bag?” The pom pom ones are just ugly.

    • mila_8

      I’ll pass.

    • trisker

Ugh.  There are no NEW takes on ugly straw bags for going to the Hamptons.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/toodleskitty79?feature=guide AWS

      Nay.

I wouldn’t let my Gramma near this shit…

    • Bozhi

Like the rattan, hate the pom poms.  The other two are just bad retro.

    • judybrowni

      balls said the queen

if i had them i’d be king

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1314255041 Irina Ryabchuk

Blue is very pretty, but only because the colour is so gorgeous.

    • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

Truly hideous. A whole world of NAY.

    • DCSheehan

I like the idea but the execution is off – cheap rather than shabby chic. Out.

    • ccm800

BAH! Nay! They look like crap from the dark recesses of Etsy!

    • M Carlson

LOVE, except for that crocheted looking one at the end.

    • mznormann

The only one I like is the Rattan basket. V. classic. Otherwise? Pure dreck!

    • Rokesmiths

Maybe the blue one if you were going to be beach. Maybe.
And it cost $5. Does it cost $5? No? Then no.

    • SaoirseLee

Haha, so right, I just said that in a comment, should have read further on.

    • Susan Crawford

Basically, I could go to Michael’s and buy a bunch of pom-poms, a couple cheap baskets and make these over the weekend. A little too hot-glue-gun crafty for my taste. If I had to pick one, it would be the rattan bag with the leather “flap”. But overall, I’m on the NAY side.

    • http://julia-here.livejournal.com/ Julia

Well, one thing these bags tell me for sure: Tory Burch does not own cats. She has no friends who own cats. It is possible she’s never met a cat in her life.

    • librarygrrl64

Weak yay to the rattan bag, big NAY to everything else pictured here.

      • librarygrrl64

Full disclosure: I have a vintage — 1950s or thereabouts — version of the rattan basket bag, but with darker leather. That reddish-brown color that Aigner was famous for (cordovan?). I use it all the time in the summer, and it only cost me $20.

    • Srw27

The first few look like a 2nd grader’s craft project gone horribly awry.  And I’m sure it costs hundreds of dollars

The last few are a bit too “granny” for my tastes

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Clydette-Wantland/673315286 Clydette Wantland

Lord no!  NAY!!  Hate balls of yarn on my bags or anywhere for that matter.

    • hellkell

NAY. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this on Etsy, where shit glued to other shit isn’t quite so expensive as this.

    • adnama79

I love pom-poms, but not these.

    • Liverpoolgirl

      Blech!

    • saanrio

I like some of them… namely the ones that don’t look like recycled hula skirts. The pom-pons, seriously… ugh.

But that crochet thing on the last one is interesting.  I could make that much cheaper.  Hmm.

    • Louise Bryan

      Nay, no, never

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=583505025 Kelley Comfort

The first two bags look like they come with their own Mariachi band. The only one I don’t mind is the Rattan bag in the middle, and even then, I wouldn’t pay Tory Burch prices for it.

    • http://meetzorp.com Meetzorp

This is a witty and whimsical collection.  I really enjoy it.  To the extent that I almost wish I could afford something from it!
