WERQ: Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung

Posted on June 15, 2012

Miss Girl is SHUTTING IT DOWN.

Hailee Steinfeld attends the 14th Annual Young Hollywood Awards in Prabal Gurung. House of Lavande jewelry. Edie Parker clutch.

Prabal Gurung Fall 2012 Collection

Edie Parker ‘Lara’ Clutch

Sassypants on the RC! Love. And that top is really cute too. Yes, the pants are way too long in the hem, but that’s the way it’s being done right now, and besides, the whole outfit looks so great on her that we can’t even bother with the hem. You WERQ those sassypants, girl.

    • lovelyivy

Seems a but mature for her, but it’s so elegant and suits her so well that I can’t care. Lovely!

    • mjude

      she is so damn cute

    • Sobaika

I don’t know – they’re a bit too shiny? But I like the idea of them on her and on the red carpet.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I love the look completely.  My only comment in the negative?  A tad bit too much blush, perhaps?

      • gsk241

That was my thought.  If I had tried to leave the house with that much blush on at her age my mother would have scrubbed it off for me!  LOL

        • MilaXX

Didn’t you know to wait until you got to school to put it on? I had an entire locker stash.

          • gsk241

I did, but once I forgot to wash my face before going home, and OMG!  TROUBLE!

        • MoHub

           With a Brillo pad.

      • amywinns

In the “too much makeup” department, I think too much blush is the least offensive, in terms of age-appropriateness and aesthetics. So if she’s going to use a heavy hand somewhere, I certainly prefer it there than too smoky in the eye or too bold in the lip. (and it’s fully rounded here, not an 80s-style angular streak!)

        • amf0001

oh… I’m so old,  I like the 80’s angular streak… the round is just… too round!  omg,  i’m turning into one of those crazy women whose make up is 30 years out of date!

      • kimmeister

I think she deployed it to prevent looking washed-out by all the white in her outfit.

    • AmandaCathleen

I think this looks great on Hailee, but I do prefer the version on the model (with the gold belt & proper hem length). I do like Hailee’s darker hair with the look, though. White & gold is always a good look on a brunette.

      • nannypoo

I think the model’s pants are the same length, but she’s walking so you can see her foot. What do you think?

        • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

I think so too, plus the model is probably a foot taller than Hailee

    • Alisa Rivera

Ah, to be 15 and able to rock white shiny pants. Cute, even though the hem is causing my eye to twitch.

      • schadenfreudelicious

agreed, 15 may be one of the few ages you can rock shiny white pants, so rock on sistah…

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I keep seeing a diagram of the uterus and fallopian tubes in the middle of the top.

      • Judy_J

Oh, now I see it, too!

        • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

I see an elephant…as if it’s an ode to Ganesh

          • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I can see the elephant now too – god my monitor at home is so much better than the one at work!

      • snarkykitten

         aaauughhh cannot unsee D:

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Thank GOD! I was scrolling through the comments thinking, “Surely I’m not the only one seeing the kraken-gina!”

    • crash1212

So cute. I was scoring at home and gave it a 10. Even with the pants. Can’t remember what I was watching the other night, but the know-it-all-fashion person was instructing idiot-with-no-taste about proper pants length – KIAFP specifically said that “pants should be hemmed to just touch the floor”. Seriously.

    • Katie Viola

oh yeah she looks sasha fierce!

    • ballerinawithagun

I love this! Silk pants that fit correctly. On someone older it would look matronly but on Hailee, it is sassy!

    • Judy_J

Very cute.  I want to hem those pants, though.

    • SusiePamudji

This is some serious WERQ right here. Gorgeous!

    • TheOriginalLulu

She looks adorable, but I can’t get behind a werq because of that hem. Maybe it’s what all the cool kids are doing, but I will always think that purposefully looking as if you have no feet is dumb. Besides, what’s the point of wearing killer shoes if nobody can see them?

    • Lilithcat

It seems rather mature for a -what is she- 15-year old?  And those pants need hemming.

    • http://twitter.com/GuidosDaddy Jason M. Galloway

Poor thing has no feet. I like the top-reminds me of Alien. Poor John Hurt…

    • Beardslee

I am not a clutch fan – if I were the Duchess of Cambridge I would have a minion to carry my things for me so my hands are free – so maybe that’s why I think the clutch is no good.  Clutches are for grownups, or at least a classic boxy clutch like this is.

    • AthenaJ

Um, is she trying to look like teenybopper Jesus?

    • jmorino08

Adorbz! She needs to lay off the blush a bit though…

    • http://aldonsusi.blogspot.com/ Susi R

      She looks great! :)

    • Charles Barthelme

Hard to believe this is the same girl from True Grit. Loved her acting, which showed a level of maturity I hadn’t expected from someone so young. Looks like she’s the real deal off the screen too. Good for her.

    • nannypoo

I’ve been wondering where she is. It seems like ages since we all stopped to gape at her fabulousness. I love this on her.

    • marilyn

I wish her hair was up.

    • SapphoPoet

I really dislike the hem, but overall she looks great. Glad she lost the shiny belt.

    • MilaXX

She looks cute enough that I’m not going to quibble about the hem.

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

I love her!!! So age appropriate!! The only quibble IS the pants length. Everything else is adorable.

    • alyce1213

She is adorable, but I’m sorry, that outfit is for a 50-year-old. Michelle Pfeiffer would look gorgeous in it.

    • saanrio

I am totally going to fuss over that hem.  The thing that drew my attention and blocked everything else from that first picture was that hem and the immediate thought of “OMG!  She has no FEET!

Seriously, this is just not okay.

    • Ogden1990

      Crotch fit is wonky.

    • guest2visits

She’s very cute in this; but the trippy hem length is distracting. I think they would be even better as bermuda shorts,
or cropped with heels or sandals.  Much nicer than the model’s look.

    • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

Um…no. Hair and make up look awful, the length of the pants is atrocious, and nothing fits correctly.  Are you guys day drinking again?

      • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

Fine, the top fits really well, and is cute.  Love the pants, but they don’t fit at all.

    • jmw1122

I don’t care for the shiny white pants myself, but she always looks so darn happy to be wherever she is I can’t fault her for it.

    • http://www.filmsbyneptune.com/ Dani Colman

Is that Cthulu on her shirt?

    • Anna Maria Diamanti

I cannot tolerate that hem. I spend way too much damn money on my shoes to just accept that it’s just “the way it’s being done now.”

But otherwise, yes, girl is fab. I love that the center of the design looks like the Alien.

    • deathandthestrawberry

When did this too-long pant leg become a thing. I don’t get it, and I think it looks ridiculous. I’d like to think were I a starlet that I’d have a full diva meltdown worthy of Alexis Carrington until someone did a decent hem job.

Besides, why wouldn’t you want to show off your shoes? Given it’s summer, she should be  rocking an awesome pair of sandals or strappy heels.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZFKRECRF5BOBWB4RXAJGI4D6KA mmc

I don’t like this trend!  (the pants to the ground thing)

    • sk8tfan

Can’t tell if the design in the center of the top is a vagina or a steer skull. But she’s making it work. She looks confident, sassy, and adorable, notwithstanding the strange, vaguely unsettling stitching on the top.

    • Susan Crawford

Oooh! What a great outfit for her! I agree the pants could have been shortened a bit, but this is just an adorable, fun, fashionable yet youthful look on Hailee. And that clutch is fascinating – I love the watery effect.

    • aimee_parrott

      She’s adorable.

    • j_anson

      Oh, damn.

    • octopol

In the first picture, she looks like a less boobalicious mini-version of Sofia Vergara.

    • Lina_bee

Fabulous! It does knock her apparent age up a couple of years, but she’s got the chops to handle more mature roles. Also, yay pants!

    • colleenjanel

It’s a little bit mature looking on her. Not so much that it looks bad, but for cripe’s sake … Don’t give up on the youthful looks while you’re still young enough to wear them. This period of your life won’t last long. Don’t rush it!

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

That poor child…she has no feet and too much blush.  The outfit is a little shiny for my taste, but she looks happy in it.

    • Call me Bee

Nah– I like the long wide pants, but they shouldn’t cover the shoe! Looks like stumps for legs. Other than that, she looks cute. Love the blue bag.

    • oatmealpie

Super cute, but way too much blush. The poor thing looks like she’s been slapped.

    • Cousin_Rose

Looks like she is growing up nicely!

    • teensmom99

If only the problem here was the hem. None of this fits her properly.  The shirt is to big and boxy (not big in a flattering way) and the hips of the pants lie  at a strange point.

    • beebee10

Your love child is doing so well by you!!

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I love it! She looks chic, sassy and age appropriate!

    • TieDye64

Surprisingly pretty. I mean, we’re talking shiny white pants here. She’s so cute and I like the darker hair on her.

    • Sara__B

I don’t know why someone slapped so much makeup on that lovely young skin. No matter. She still manages to look young and fresh-faced and stylish.

    • kirkyo

Someone was very smart and didn’t overdo the gold accessories (like on the model).

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Laura-Hand/34501967 Laura Hand

I hate that no foot look.

    • http://twitter.com/A_SmallFry AC

      She is too cute!

    • Laurie Bergman

She could be Valerie Bertinelli’s daughter! Love the top, including the exploding flower, but the pants….just hike the hem a bit and they’d be perfect.

    • Tammy_4

If that’s “how they’re doing” hems on pants, then they need to stop doing it.  Looks so stupid.

    • granddelusion

Wait! She forgot her feet! (Pants aren’t too long in the hem, they’re just too long! Ridiculous!)

    • Brendan Schulze

I do like the taking away of those clunky cuffs; if she’f gone light-haired with gold accessories like the model, then she’d end up looking like Wonder Girl.

    • melanie0866

You’re kidding, right?  Those pants look like a cheap synthetic satin dance recital costume, the top is ugly and WHO put all that orange blush on her?  She looks awful!  Which was hard to manage with someone as naturally cute as her!

    • SewingSiren

Very cute. Much better without the belt.

    • golspie

Do starlets at this level get to keep the clothes and the accessories or not? Does anyone know?

    • formerlyAnon

I wouldn’t have called it out for a WERQ just because the whole outfit seems a little much – the 3-D floral embellishment and the overall shininess are carried a bit far. Not that my tastes are AT ALL a barometer for what should be worn on the red carpet.

But she looks good, and if it’s to her tastes, well go for it, girl. A young brunette is needed for this look and that’s what she is.

    • Qitkat

Remind me again why stovepipe footless legs are in?

    • calimon

      “Look mom, no feet!”

    • quiltrx

She looks really cute!  Maybe a little heavy on the blush–she didn’t need that–but she looks happy and like she feels good in her own skin.

    • http://twitter.com/TheUppityMinx V.R. Neuman

Clearly she was just terrified that you two wouldn’t like her shoes, so she opted for pants that hid them completely.

    • H3ff

Samantha Jones is probably the only other woman alive able to pull of this look.

    • AudreysMom

HS needs to give her stylist a raise. She always looks perfect (and perfectly age-appropriate).

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sierra-Delta/100003182924700 Sierra Delta

“Sam, you made the pants too long.”

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

      Cute enough yes.  WERQ, no.

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

What a pretty young girl.  It’s refreshing to see her looking like just that: Pretty (not slutty) and Young (not trying to dress like the Olsen Twins).

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

Cant’s see her shoes… pants way too long.

    • EEKstl

There are a lot of ladystars who should be taking note.  She gets it right far more than most women twice her age.  Nicely done!

    • Alyson Epstein

      she has no feet!
