WERQ: Blake Lively in Zuhair Murad Couture

Posted on June 26, 2012

Blake continues to have a career that puzzles us. That is to say, the FACT that Blake has a career continues to puzzle us. Not to be mean, but the girl couldn’t act her way out of a traffic citation.

What the girl can do, apparently, is make a huge splash at the exact moment she should be making a huge splash, e.g., when your Oliver Stone movie is opening and you’re no longer playing the superhero’s girlfriend or merely slogging your way through a TV series.

Blake Lively attends the premiere of “Savages” in Los Angeles in a Zuhair Murad couture gown.

Zuhair Murad Spring 2012 Couture Collection

Consider that splash MADE. Snaps the hell up. As high-impact, look-at-me outfits go, this one’s a keeper. You WERQ that old Hollywood glam with a 21st Century twist, girl!

Holy Jeebus!! Whatever slim to none reason she has a career, she knocked this outta da park!

I’m embarrassed to say, but Blake has always made me feel a little funny down there. And I’m a straight girl. She looks amazing, but I like her “dirty girl” looks better.

    • clairellis

      LOL me too!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1351920623 Anthony Duh

I laughed at her (really every) Boston accent throughout The Town, it was actually one of my favorite parts. She’s looking great though,

    • http://twitter.com/marieldrucker Marie Drucker

Didn’t she get fairly good reviews for that role?

      • leave_Blake_alone

Yes, I think she did. I actually loved her in it, the accent was pretty bananas.

    • fursa_saida

They all fuck up the accent, all of the time. Mystic River was secretly a comedy.

      • http://twitter.com/mediapileup Beth Anderson

Being from the south, I always get SO MAD at how badly tv and movies screw up southern accents (oh my god True Blood – you are the worst). So it makes me secretly happy that all the other parts of the country get it wrong too.

        • amywinns

Me too, I’m from Atlanta. I caught 5 minutes of the dreadful “Beauty Shop” on Comedy Central or MTV or whatever as I was flipping channels the other day and sweet Lord were those accents ATROCIOUS. Alicia Silverstone’s was the wooorst. Her whole rednecky character was awful — what was she thinking? (a check is a check, I guess!!) — but the accent especially was a nightmare.

      • donkeygospel6

Yep. That movie only works as a comedy. See also Erin Brockovich.

    • amywinns

I read that Ben Affleck, not being familiar with her, at her audition asked her what part of Massachusetts she was from… he found her accent that believeably authentic. I’m not a fan, but I thought she did well in The Town.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1351920623 Anthony Duh

I laughed at her (really every) Boston accent throughout The Town, it was actually one of my favorite parts. She’s looking great though,

  • afabulous50

OK – the look does do her justice.  However didn’t Christina A. wear something similar at one time and got trashed for it??  I guess you have to be in a Spider Man movie to pull it off.

    • TAGinMO

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case. In fact, the first thought that popped into my head was “Aguilera done right.”

    • http://twitter.com/wednesdaydreams Natalie

she’s not in Spider-Man, what an insult to Emma Stone.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

Why? because Emma Stone is a much better actress right? ugh!

        • http://onebluetree.blogspot.com/ Sara L.

           Um, yes?

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

and what movie exactly has she displayed her extraordinary acting chops??? and for the sake of making your argument more convincing, please don’t say The Help.

          • Sobaika

Superbad, Easy A, and that date movie with Ryan Gosling.

She has an ease/charm/naturalness/whatever-you-wanna-call-it that comes alive on screen. Nice comic timing too. She’s one of the younger actresses I’m looking forward to see develop the most.

And yeah, much better than Blake Lively – that girl is blander than oatmeal.

          • http://onebluetree.blogspot.com/ Sara L.

Easy A was the one I was going to bring up. The comic timing also, she has a real knack for comedy.

          • AudreysMom

Plus she brought an incredibly high level of energy and fun to this year’s Oscar telecast.

And I love that how she looks seems to be such a secondary thing to her whole gestalt (rather than Blake where it’s like the ONLY thing). Don’t get me wrong, Emma can bring it (take this month’s Vogue, for instance). It’s just that she seems so comfortable with herself and her talent.

          • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

She managed to make fun of the whole Oscar pomp and circumstance while at the same time not being a little Ricky Gervais about it: brilliant!

          • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

She’s a funny girl in interveiws, too. She’s a comedian. That shower singing scene in Easy A? It’s a rare girl who can pull that off, half the starlets on this site couldn’t have done it.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

She displayed strong acting chops in Superbad and Easy A huh? lol I rest my case. Clearly Emma Stone has fanboys on this site, so any attempt at a non-biased argument will be worthless. Carry on.

          • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Well, imagine if those movies had hired Megan Fox instead.

          • Sobaika

Yes, she did. And in Crazy Stupid Love. And was great on SNL, a place where seasoned actors regularly crash and burn. You try performing hour of live sketch comedy in a high-pressure situation.

I wouldn’t call myself as a fanboy, nor did I ever see a ‘non-biased argument’ about the Gossip Girl being comparable to Emma Stone. Everyone has different tastes but not everyone has a ‘tude.

Seriously though, did someone piss in your coffee this morning?

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/UVADXS5UJSUFGIVLINCAAQVA2A JamieW

Ah, the good old “Everyone who likes something I don’t like is stupid!” Very mature of you.

          • j_anson

I like the implication that it’s important for us to have a “non-biased argument” about the relative merits of starlets. Perhaps we should come up with an index of relative value and run a regression analysis? Let’s bring some rigor to this question!

          • Denny Li

Is that any worse than, “I think X is great, so if you disagree, you must be drinking pee”?

          • Sobaika

That is not what I said. I was referring to the fact that she seemed to be a bit rude.

          • j_anson

I love Emma Stone. She was freaking awesome in Easy A. She’s way out of Blake Lively’s league (and I actually have a soft spot in my heart for Blake.)

          • http://twitter.com/pointlesswords jaymeglynn

Exactly! You can accept that one is in a different realm to the other while still liking the other.

        • Call me Bee

Yes–Crazy Stupid Love. Emma was perfect in that movie, along with the others.  Blake acts as well as Katy Perry can sing.  Not at all.
          Not to be mean…

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

At least Emma can enunciate her lines and have more than 2 expressions.  Not a huge fan (re: obviously fake Andrew Garfield relationship), but most young starlets can out-act Blake.

        • SassieCassy

          LOL SHE REALLY IS THOUGH

Im not a huge fan (my favorite Emma is Watson) but theres no denying she has talent and charm.

          • j_anson

Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Emma Thompson… it’s a good name to have if you’re an actress.

    • VioletFem

Yes, but did it look like it fit Christina? Sporting clothes that are clearly a size too small and wering way too much makeup, has been a recurrent problem for her the last year or 2.

      • Melissa Brogan

         Or 5.

    • sk8tfan

I think it helps to have legs up to yar for maximum impact with a dress like that like Blake does, and Christina seems kind of short to pull it off.

    • http://twitter.com/fncmullin Nora M.

Yes, but unlike Augilera, it fits correctly and flatters her body. Also, she’s not wearing 17 pounds of make up.

    • MrsJoe

Here’s the difference – this dress fits her.  Christina A. almost always wears clothes that are two sizes too small, which is unflattering no matter what your actual size.  Christina could totally pull this off in her own size, but that’s not what she tries to do.

  • Tamara Hogan

Beautiful dress, but I’m with you, TLo. Career-wise, she’s not on my radar AT ALL.

    • JimMcC

There’s a piece of me that wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up being to Gossip Girl what Michelle Williams was to Dawson’s Creek. All of a sudden one say, you’re all, “Wait. You can ACT?! Why didn’t you show us that for all these years?!” But I might be completely and totally insane.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

Michelle Williams wasn’t bad on Dawson’s Creek, and already showed she can act when she was doing all these small independent movies.  Blake’s entire reputation is Boobs Legly and “Fashion Icon”, and yeah, a lot puzzling “good reviews” when she can barely say her lines.  Pretty much every actress on Gossip Girl (maybe except the girl played Vanessa, but the role didn’t have much to do) out-acts Blake.

      • Sobaika

If there’s an actress hiding in the cast of Gossip Girl, it’s Leighton Meester. Now, I haven’t seen her in anything else, but she owns as Blair.

Chuck Bass is good too, although I saw him in J. Edgar (for .2 seconds) and he looked and acted exactly the same.

  • SapphoPoet

Wow. Color me impressed. That is QUITE the dress.

  • AlinaValero

i can’t stand her usually, but i gotta give it to her, she looks FLAWLESS.

    • AudreysMom

and I wonder how long (and how many people) it took to get her looking that way?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

FINALLY.  That dress is down right amazing.

  • http://twitter.com/wednesdaydreams Natalie

i have no idea why she has a career too

    • Alisa Rivera

Google Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, Blake Lively and Gretchen Mol, and all will be clear.

  • joancarol

Electrical tape dress. But she owns it.

    • ballerinawithagun

That’s exactly what I was thinking! All that fabulous beading and from a distance it might as well be a duct tape dress. At least there is a complete lining.

      • TheDivineMissAnn

         There’s beading???

  • Little_Olive

Hmm. She’s certainly got the right hair, makeup and figure, but something keeps me from shouting a Werk. I feel she’s lacking a je-ne-sais-quoi (character?) to really, really pull it off.

  • RzYoung

The dress is stunning…although I can help thinking she hopped onto the red carpet, or was maybe wheeled on in one of those upright trolleys – Hannibal Lecter style

  • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

I think I will always have a soft spot for her, because I really liked her as (and she was PERFECT casting for) the character that’s freakishly similar to me in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She hasn’t been that good in anything since – no matter who she’s playing, she has the same affect – but that was the first thing I saw her in, so the effect lingers. Anyway, she looks fantastic here.

    • EditKitten

I’ll admit to liking that movie (and I’m not at all its target audience), because the four girls seemed pretty perfect and they made it work. Blake was actually quite likable and believable in it … and hasn’t done anything close to it since.

    • reebism

Another SotTP fan. It’s so sad, because I remember reading the director talking about how hard it was to find an all-American, natural girl who wasn’t completely fake, and then they found Blake…and now look at her. Sigh.

  • MilaXX

It’s not that hard to keep a job in Hollywood if you’re a pretty white girl. That said she is definitely working this look. The mermaid hair even works in this instance.

    • introspective

agreed on both counts. her career’s length will only puzzle those that forget how the hollywood machine works. and that dress, while a bit sketchy on the bust (nip slip potential is there), is otherwise outstanding.

      • kimmeister

Her babyheads aren’t even lined up with the bust of the dress, they are somehow 2″ higher.

  • Lina_bee

Every detail is straight out of the Lana Turner playbook. Every single one.

  • TAGinMO

I hate how much I love this. WOW.

    • Pennymac

Haha! You nailed my feelings exactly!

  • Spicytomato1

Ooh, I have to respectfully disagree. The dress is beautifully made but my eye sees too much nude. And while her hairstyle is pretty, in an old-Hollywood sort of way, the dark roots kind of spoil it. And her foundation is the wrong color, makes her face look heavy instead of fresh.

Wow, I’m not usually so negative. Although I’ve always felt neutral toward her maybe I’m actually harboring a secret grudge against her?

    • Little_Olive

Totally agree on roots and makeup now that I get a second look. Something about her eyes does not work with that styling to me. She has a more modern face I guess.

      • A_Rimbaud

I also never seem to like her makeup. Is her natural hair a darker blonde?

    • Alisa Rivera

She looks like she has bad skin and has to go heavy with the foundation to cover it. Cameron Diaz has the same problem.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=790818401 Laurie Landry

Can something really bug you and be pretty at the same time?

  • Judy_J

    Kiss of the Spider Woman.

  • In_Stitches

The dress?  Pretty damn flawless.  The hair, however, looks like it came out of a plastic carton.  That platinum blond isn’t serving her as well as something a little more golden or ashy would.

    • out for a walk

I too hate her hair. Also maybe it’s just the lighting but it looks like she fell in a vat of bronzer.

  • M_E_S

That is a dress that needs to fit PERFECTLY or it would be an absolute mess.  And it does.  Well done, Bee from Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants..

  • Emily Giovanni

She looks great, but I kind of think that you should probably touch up your roots to even qualify for WERQ consideration.

  • Jecca2244

she’s got a career, Louboutin sends her his entire season of shoes, Karl Lagerfield loves her, and she just landed a Gucci fragrance ad. she’s doing something WAY right.

    • EditKitten

      She’s blonde and thin?

      • Jecca2244

        THAT’S what i’ve been doing wrong! : )

    • clairellis

I agree. She is doing something right. She’s not the next Meryl Streepe but I don’t think that’s what she’s going for…

  • antheapena

we know people who are famous for less & she is at least working hard in this incredible dress.

  • http://twitter.com/katshimmers Kat Wright

Just needs to fix up those roots I reckon! Gorgeous dress!

    • kimmeister

Yes, the roots are the only thing I’d change about this look.

  • Jangle57

Fortunately I don’t think she would be called upon to act her way out of a traffic citation; I suspect her other ‘qualities’ would get the job done with a mere bat of an eye and toss of the hair.  The dress is amazing but her face looks hard in the one picture; like a jaded pinup doll who’s seen it all – and for all I know, maybe she has…..

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_63FW2Y5BWUARL7PJGWK54TUDGE Carrieanno

    And it’s not from a fall/winter collection!

  • Magatha

I think she looks like a winner here. Still, I have to admit that the dress makes me uneasy. On her, it’s great. But you get home, put it on the hanger, go to sleep, and at midnight it comes alive and turns into a weird glowing tribal artifact. Then it talks to you and tells you to do stuff. I think I have watched too much Buffy, too often, for too many years (but I regret nothing).

    • Maddie_Faddenoid

I’d like to live in your world for a day, it sounds so much more interesting than mine ;-)

  • Tom Shea

    Nope. Too damn much.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Hmm. She looks good, but next time, should get someone to paint her face the same color as her body.

  • Cathy S

I guess I’ll have to be contrary. She looks fine, but I really hate that dress. It’s nude hose and electrical tape.

  • Calinda_L

In the words of the great Cher Horowitz, it’s a bit of Monet. From far away it’s okay, but up close it’s a big old mess. Namely, her face. Or the mask of makeup they put on her face.

The dress looks good, really good in fact, but it would AMAZING if she dropped her hands to her side and stopped obstructing the waist detail. Sadly, she’s practically bolted into that hands-on-waist position in every shot. The dress is designed to give her va-va-va-voom curves (see: model), but it almost makes her look wide because all you can see is the horizontal effect.

  • kingderella

shes wearing the dress well, but is it just me or is the make-up rather aging? also not loving the almost xtina-level orange glow about her.

  • http://twitter.com/SparklyCasanova UglyCasanova

The “BLA” kids in the background in the first photo disagree.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/OF2A7ELSIKWZPEUM6PR4IWSLQQ Sarah

Ha ha! I saw that too. It made me laugh. Some publicist better go tell “K” and “E” they’re not allowed to put their signs down first.

  • understateddiva

snaps up for the dress, but the hair and makeup are hella aging.

  • KSpence

    The nails are distracting.

  • Le_Sigh

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that 1) her hair is washed and 2) her dress is actually the right size for once.

  • petalfrog

Somewhere Christina Aguilera is sticking pins in a Blake Lively voodoo doll. This is the look she’s been trying to rock for years and has never quite been able to pull it off.

    • formerlyAnon

Which is a shame, really, because Ms. Aquilera has the face for it & I don’t think Ms. Lively does, quite.  But on all other points . . .

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

Well the exact issue is Christina is short, Blake is tall.  Christina even got the curves, but it’s hard to work curves when you are short.  Otherwise they even have the same exact make-up, and Christina has a much lovelier face.

  • clairellis

HOLY SHIT SHE IS WORKING THE HELL OUTTA THAT DRESS!! DAMN GIRL! THIS IS WHY I LOVE HER!

I gotta say to that she might not be the best actress, but she was amazing in The Town.

  • BazoDee

Oh. MY. WOW! That is a WERQs WERQ! Perfect hair and make-up too. Hot Daym!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

That dress is amazing, but I think that her makeup ages her here.  Who knows, maybe it’s not her makeup.  Even in couture, something about her just reads trashy to me. She just naturally looks a little like she’s been rode hard and hung up wet. She was
pretty believable as Ben Affleck’s low-rent druggie girlfriend in The
    Town.

  • Lilithcat

That dress is amazing!  I mean, it gives a model an hourglass figure. Props to Zuhair Murad.

And Lively looks fantastic.  Somewhere, Rita Hayworth is cheering.

  • quiltrx

Wow, that gown is FABULOUS.  And she’s WERQ’ing it, big time.  I have no use for her, but she does look lovely.

  • crash1212

Va Va Va fu**in’ VOOM! Best she’s ever looked. EVER.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

    Oh, I love that dress!

  • amf0001

i would have liked to see one photo without her hands on her hips so we could see the amazing effect of the dress…

  • Ksagun13

How can she show up on the red carpet with this dress and not take the time to get her roots done?  That ruins the look for me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

But a fan but cannot deny that she is WERQ-ing the shit out of that spider web old hollywood glamour look. The posing is equally perfection A++++++

  • TomBord

    That dress makes me dizzy!

  • m0r0

    KNOCKOUT!

  • nannypoo

The lines of this dress would make the average woman’s hips appear to be as wide as a blimp. She looks fabulous.

  • kikisayshi

    What a fantasmic dress!!!

  • StelledelMare

    Very Veronica Lake, I approve

  • butter nut

i still have no idea who the fuck this girl is or why she is famous, but that dress looks better on her than the model.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

    Very nice.

  • AthenaJ

If I had a body like that I’d probably have a fantastic ‘acting’ career, too :)

  • eight_of_nine

    Girlfriend is serving it UP.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LI35AZLWSZEYRDZ4PUCBHUCZUI Jonathan

I watched the seven year itch yesterday so i was surprised to wake up to this dress it looks pretty similar to the one Marilyn wears in the piano scene

  • KaileeM

That is a gorgeous dress! She is killing it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

Damn! there are jealous folks up in this thread SMH There are a host of mediocre white male actors infesting our tv screens (e.g Chris Hemworth or whatever his name is, Channing Tatum, all the men in Hunger games, Twilight etc ) and they don’t get even 1% of the venom you guys spew at some of these mediocre actresses. Misogyny is alive and well. Very sad too considering the demographic of this site.

  • carolynmo

Wow! Talk about Jerry Hall 2.0.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

Wow! She is confident and that is pretty.

  • AlexisPayne

    Immediate thought: Jerry Hall

  • Sara__B

I wish Blake had taken her hands off her waist and let us see the gown in its entirety. The gown looks better on the model, even though she hasn’t got Blake’s killer body, since she isn’t blocking the waist detail.

  • Judy_S

Frederick’s of Hollywood Couture. That’s all I can think.

  • formerlyAnon

Yup. That’s a WERQ, straight up, no chaser.

  • bluefish

That dress is insane!  She looks like a blonde Gilda — She was okay in The Town, I thought.  I believed her in that one.  But I defer to the Bostonians.

  • Joyce VG

Wow!  She looks amazing in that dress…but her roots are distracting.

  • Call me Bee

Wow–she’s all grown up and stuff.  My only quibble is that this is a lotta look for a movie premier.  She should have saved it for some award show or charity event where more than 3 people would see it.
But anyway–she does look goreous and the hair and makeup are perfect for this fab dress.  And I agree–she is no actor–just a pretty face.

  • EEKstl

WOW. Just…wow. And that dress is a STUNNER!

  • Perigee

Sex object in the best possible sense of the term.  Saw the preview for Savages Sunday, which was half soft-core porn and half torture-porn.  I suspect Blake knows exactly where her talents and weaknesses lie.

  • http://heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com Vivi N

    Her body is INSANE!

I’m in the minority, of course, but I think Blake is a good actress.
    The end.

  • susu11

I fell in love with this gown the first time I came across it online. It’s in my fantasy wardrobe desktop folder lol. Blake is not the ideal girl I would like wearing my dream dress, but she looks fantastic. Fits her body like a glove.

  • NurseEllen

That’s a lot of “WOW” in one package.

  • http://twitter.com/Alloyjane Alloy Jane

Huh.  No.  No one with roots like that can get a WERQ from me.  Especially with that terrible cakey makeup.  And I’m not one of the folks bothered by her either.  I don’t mind her at all and I loved Travelling Pants.  It was a sweet movie.  But no thanks, although I will admit that it is definitely what Christiana Aguilera goes for, which is probably why I hate it.

  • http://surelysonsy.blogspot.com/ Jessica | Surely Sonsy

    dayum. that’s all.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I can’t stand Blake, and I usually hate what she wears, but this look is gorgeous, glamorous, and sexy, without showing too much leg and/or cleavage, and/or being too tight.

  • tonibaloney

The embellishments look like licorice whips, but I love it nonetheless. The Veronica Lake hairstyle is spot on.

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Whoa! Werq indeed! Even Selma isn’t getting me to that movie, though.

  • CarolinLA

I disagree – I think she’s a good actress.  She was terrific in The Town.

  • vanjar

Working that dress like Jerry Hall.

  • CarolinLA

Smart idea to wear that on the red carpet instead of on a televised event.  It would’ve weirded out the TV cameras so much that it would take away the wow factor.  This will definitely be on Fashion Police this week.  Stunning.

  • poggi

She looks great here, better than the movie she is promoting.

FINALLY her hair is lifting off her forehead the way it should! It’s perpetually limp in the front. and it drives me crazy. But here she’s giving 80′s Kim Basinger realness.

looks even more beautiful on the model; an art deco building!

  • Melissa Brogan

Her makeup is making her look oddly older than she is and the bust isn’t sitting on her quite right, but otherwise I’m going to have to agree with someone else: I hate how much I like this. Definitely not something I’d expect to like.

  • TieDye64

    WOW

  • http://twitter.com/pam_aquino Pamela c∕̴Ɩquino

i cant stand her but Zuhair makes good dresses and she does look glam

  • PaulaBerman

I totally agree with this WERQ, and I am not a Blake Lively fan. Talk about drag-perfect hair and make up, and that dress is stunning. Also, can I say one this about this movie? I want to see it because I am fascinated that there could be a scenario, even in a movie, where Blake Lively is in a three way relationship with both Taylor Kitsch and Trevor Donovan. How do you get to be the meat in THAT sandwich?

  • guest2visits

She looks great in this; but to me she has a small range of expression. So far.

  • joe_tey83

It’s not so strange that she has a “career” when you take into account the fact that Kristen Stewart is the top earner among actresses. Acting skills has got absolutely nothing to with it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HREPOWNBVUBRIVPQCF3ST2IKDM Euphory

Really?  She looks Dallas scale of TACKY.

  • Dhammadina

    Wow.

  • greyhoundgirl

Wow is right.  This is almost Paz De La Huerta good.  The graphic of her red nails on the black stripes is pretty great (and she knows it).

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

    WERQ.

Holy God, that dress looks phenomenal on her!

  • oohsparkley!

I can’t really defend it, but I feel like she is a good, maybe not the greatest, actress.  I must have seen her in something at some time showing  relatable emotion.  I like her!  And she’s got an enviable figure.

  • j_anson

She’s screwing with the impact of the dress by putting her hands on her hips like that. It’s a great dress, though, and the hair is amazing with it, although I don’t love the makeup (the lip color is fine, but her skin is too shiny).

  • TheOriginalLulu

That’s some dress, and she certainly has the bod for it. WERQ

I do have an issue with the amount of root growth she’s sporting on her head. I’m normally not bothered, but because the hairstyle screams BLONDE BOMBSHELL, the two inches of dark roots is particularly distracting here.

  • Eva Whitsett

I saw pics of her in this dress elsewhere and was hoping she got a WERQ for it. She looks amazing.

I don’t think the black stripes should’ve been on a flesh-colored base.  It IS a striking dress but it looks like someone went mad w/ duct tape.

  • Aurumgirl

That dress fits her perfectly and I am so pleased that it is not illusion netting and cheap lace.   She brings to mind every vision of Hollywood glamour, from Veronica Lake to Kim Basinger.

  • golspie

Looks a little Jerry Hall-inspired. You kids won’t remember her. She won Guadalcanal.

    • Susan Crawford

YES! This is classic Jerry territory – curvy, uber-sexy, Dallas-big hair and bright red lips, and a dress that accentuates every dangerous curve and speed bump!

(And shortly after taking Guadalcanal, Jerry built a couple of Big Berthas and went on to carpet bomb a bunch of Rolling Stones groupies!)

It is really stunning and it reminds me of Kayne’s “Mae West Revisted” dress from Project Runway

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Wow. She has a bod.  Wow.

  • http://twitter.com/AmberAndronicus Fucking A.

Hate Blake as an actor (don’t get me started), but she looks gorgeous.

  • mila_8

Love the dress. Wish her hands weren’t blocking the dramatic effect of the waist.

  • Warrior89

Gorgeous, sexy without being tasteless.  And I want her hair.

  • kim i

ehn.  dress is great, and so’s the hanger — but i’ve always thought blake was kind of a butterface.  *shrugs*  without the nose job, i wonder how many parts she’d have gotten?  “as many as she f*cked for,” ya, i know.

  • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

No real Old Hollywood starlet would *ever* let her roots grow in that much.  The roots ruin a look that someone spent hours putting together

  • elzatelzabelz

Agree, she has no “business” in show business. But, that is one stellar look.

Does she remind anyone else of a Kim Bassinger reboot?

  • Judy Raddue

Hate to say it but this may be the look of the year… Stunning…

    • Candigirl1968

Completely amazing.  Maybe this is what the designers see that causes them to continue to shower her with love (and Chanel)

  • Lilak

Yeah, you can shine her up and pour her into a screen siren gown, but she’s still basically a big sweet ol’ yellow Lab.

P.S. Speaking of “at the exact moment she should”:  I wasn’t buying Gucci choosing her as the face of their ‘Premiere’ fragrance – at ALL – till this little outing.  Now let’s see if she can keep it up, hmm?

  • SophieCollier

Oooh her hair looks so silken.  The dress is fabulous.  Who wouldn’t want to go all Hollywood vamp in this?

  • granddelusion

    Whats with the roots?

  • http://twitter.com/Kikishua CMS

That dress embodies va va voom!

  • http://www.facebook.com/bert.keeter Bert Keeter

Gown is awesome! Hair n definetly makeup not so!

  • mhleta

Oh HELL YES, WOMAN!! She can act, too, but often chooses not to. Check her own in The Town. She’s really good. And, unlike just about every other actress else before her, she nailed the Boston accent.

  • mozzer0906

This dress looks like it was made for her.  Her curves are perfectly suited to it and she looks sensational in it.  Snaps in a circle indeed.

  • Judih1

This dress belongs to JLo or Rhianna – doesn’t work on Blake for me. But LOVE the attempt

  • Ellie Rowe

The closer I look the less I like it, but my first impression was HOLY-SHIT-SHE-LOOKS-AMAZING, so snaps for that I guess.

  • frankystein123

    Wow, wow, and wow.
