The Spring Ladies Club

Posted on June 08, 2012

Darlings, here’s your pretty to close out the week. We expect you all to put on white gloves and sit like a lady while viewing it (you too, boys; you know you want to) because Plastik magazine has offered up some seriously old school lady-ness. Wing your eyes and grab your pink poodles, ladies. The first dozen macarons are on us.

“The Spring Ladies Club” editorial from the latest issue of Plastik magazine shot in a Ladurée shop by Eli Rezkallah, Ryan Houssari and Ross Feighery.

Thank you TLo!  Beautiful way to end the week.  That young lad is almost Norman Rockwell-esque.  Have a great weekend!!

    • MilaXX

Amusing shoot, but I only like the outfit in the 3rd picture.

    • SpcilK

    • hughman

How sweet. (Tho it chaps my Vintage OCD’s ass that the young man didn’t shave.)

      • alyce1213

That bugs me too. Could’ve been perfect Norman Rockwell.

    • trisker

      THE HAIR is totally fabulous.

    • Maria Rosenfire

I like the macarons better than the clothes, but this is absolutely lovely. J’adore the pastel color scheme.

    • sashaychante

      LUV Laduree!  Now I want a macaron..ymmmm.

    • Lauren Lynch Fox

      Love the pink dogs!

      • YoungSally

Love the dogs too — at least the color….but what an odd groom…maybe they aren’t pure mini poodles….but if they are I can honestly say I’ve never thought to book one for a blow out.

    • na paisagem

and they shot it at Ladurée, bien sur…

    • MoHub

I’ll just take the macarons, thank you.

      • Vaniljekjeks

That’s what caught my eye in this spread the most.  They are gorgeous!  I love the colors.

      • Sierra Delta

         Moi aussi.

    • Sara__B

What a sweet and charming way to end another week with T Lo!

    • EEKstl

      Lovely – thanks, TLo!

    • poggi

Oh darn it, now I’m going to have to make macaroons.

    • Nonnah

    • Laura Toepfer

Great. Now I want a dozen macarons.

    • snarkykitten

I like the pseudo illustration style

    • joe_tey83

That kid sure looks very happy working at that macaron place. It’s like this is how he pictures heaven, with the pink poodles and all.

    • MandyJane

Aw, that’s really cute. ALSO, I love that grey bag in the second and third pic.

    • cmb92191

So cute… I didn’t know they borrowed my dog (last picture).   Full disclosure, I have never groomed him completely like that.

      • BrooklynBomber

My poodle once modeled for Saks Fifth Ave. but the call came last minute, so she wasn’t groomed (she was “discovered” while I was walking her; this wasn’t a regular thing, so she wasn’t all-groomed-all-the-time), and she was freaked out, looking for me, while she sat on the model’s lap. So that was the end of that. (And I never, ever gave her that stupid shaved ass pompom cut.)

    • Marie Leonard

I probably shouldn’t complain, but for some reason the fact that they are all white doesn’t sit so well with me.

      • Candigirl1968

My first reaction was to think how lazy editorials like this are.  As if women of color can’t work in this aesthetic.  At least half the women we’ve seen in the spring issues of Vogue Korea (e.g., those in the Blooming Memories pictures from the TLo April 5th post come to mind) could do this editorial in their sleep.  I can’t imagine Plastik couldn’t find any women of color that would work had they looked even a little bit.

      • foodycatAlicia

It was quite jarring – when it got to the picture of the black poodle I thought “Really? THAT is the token model of colour?”

    • JimiG

      I can only see macaroons.

    • Mefein

      I think I’m slipping into a diabetic coma here…

    • rebecca

SO up my alley. I love the juxtaposition of the guy with all these doll-like women. Love the colors. Love it. But I’m sick of platforms. Please make them leave.

      • Beardslee

I so agree!  Everything is all sweetness and light until you get to their feet, which switched the feel to a catalogue for advanced weaponry.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Love love love love love. The models look like they’re having fun! The colors are lovely, and so is the sense of humor…and that Union Jack clutch.

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

That is painfully adorable, in the best way.

    • formerlyAnon

Well, old school except for the skirt lengths.

      Very pretty!

    • Kay

That is just simply pretty.  Nothing wrong with that every once in a while. Looking at is fresh, like taking a quick gargle of minty mouthwash.

    • quiltrx

REALLY fun editorial!  I would love to live in a cotton-candy-colored world like this.

    • mrspotts66

    • jilly_d

It looks as though that tower of macarons said something *scandalous* to that model.

    • j_anson

I think they… overcommitted to the concept there.

    • Sarah Thomas

And then they all went to picket a Civil Rights march.

      • roadtrip1000

         Ha Ha. Perfect summation.

      • JosephLamour

        Pfffthhh- hilarious.

    • guest2visits

I don’t care how sweet; this was a lot of fun.   I loved it.

    • LinXGUA

      That boy is perfect.

    • TieDye64

So adorable my teeth ache. Fun!

    • SapphoPoet

Wow–I feel like I fell into a vat of sherbet.

    • moppet

My goodness. That is a lot of whiteness/paleness. Not just in the models, but in the choice of styling, etc. I can see the prettiness that is supposed to be there but I find it a little off-putting. However, it certainly puts me in the mood for cookies!

      • Dhammadina

Indeed. This is the Spring White Ladies Club.

    • GorgeousThings

I walked by Ladurée on Madison last Wednesday after viewing the Prada/Schiap exhibit. I was in a rush, so I didn’t get to stop in. Now I’m sorry I missed it!

    • Judy_J

The macaroons in these photos made me think of Vip, the candy invented for Rock Hudson’s ad man character in “Lover, Come Back”. Doris Day would show those gals how it’s done.

    • MinAgain

This photo shoot is like a pretty pastel version of “Where’s Waldo?”

    • AWS

This is what cotton candy looks like on crack…

    • Meredith M

It is lovely! Considering the level of perfecting to which the models must have been subjected (in real life and in Photoshop), though, the guy’s teeth and stubble are downright jarring.

    • mmc

Hilarious and fun to look at.

    • Sweetvegan

Pretty, but I hope they didn’t dye the poodles’ fur.

    • MasterandServant

Pretty! This is how I feel after leaving Laduree with my macrons…overly sweet colors in greens and pink.

    • terekirkland

Love the green dress! What an amazing interior to work with in Ladurée—the marble, the tile, the colors… Must visit soon.

TLo, thank you so much for sharing (and for spelling macaron right. Macaroons are completely different, people! *sigh*)

    • sleepycat

I really hope those dogs were dyed with Photoshop. I hate when people dye their dogs.
