Noomi Rapace in NYC

Posted on June 06, 2012

WOW. Miss Noomi is LOADED UP.

Prometheus star Noomi Rapace makes an appearance on the “Late Show With David Letterman” in NYC.

Prada ‘Pyramide’ Bag

Burberry Prorsum Belt

Yves Saint Laurent ‘Trib Too’ Platform Pump

Way to select those brands, girl!

We kind of love this look for being so dramatic. It’s powerful and feminine at the same time, with just a hint of sexy when you get a glimpse of those stilettos. We’re not super-crazy about the hair, though. She’s wearing something very dramatic and slightly unusual but she’s sporting hair that just sits there. Still, kudos on the selection, Miss Lady.

  • I’m starting to get the sense I should go out and get a red dress with a dramatic black belt.

    • MzzPants

Same here.  Maybe TLo is sending us a message:   you waaaaannnt the red dreeessssss.  you nnnneeeeedddd the black beeeeellllllt.

  • nycfan

That hair length doesn’t really suit her face, to me, but maybe it is he style rather than the length.

    • Carleenml

I’m so sick of fake hair. And even it’s not fake hair…the fake hair hairstyle. I want it to go away.

  • In_Stitches

She looks like Tina Fey and Kristen Bell’s love child-their poorly dressed love child.

    • charlotte

Right? I always see Tina Fey in her.

    • mountainFashionista

Tina and Kristen’s love child going to a costume party dressed as Meg White…

  •  Seriously love that bag.

  • janedonuts

Yeah, but the shoes. So weird with that dress.

  • I wish either the top were a little more fitted or the skirt had some subtle embellishment.  I feel like there’s a slight proportion issue going on.  The black platform pumps are just perfect, though.

  • MilaXX

I love a good maxi, but with all that cover up the hair needed to be sleeker.  A ponytail would have worked much better.

  • Erika Sanders

She looks scarily like a sexified version of a Handmaid in Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale.  Ick.

  • The Olsen twins should take note

  • Kelly Ridings

She looks like a combo of Lindsey Lohan and Tina Fey in the second picture…

    • ballerinawithagun

Yes, at least it fits her correctly.

  • I really thought this was Tina Fey.  And I covet that Prada bag.

  • Sara__B

That hair is almost burying her. Pair it with the long skirt and there’s just too much “long” for my tastes. I’m with Dani — there’s a proportion issue going on.

  • I thought you meant “loaded up” as in “high as a motherfucking kite,” not decked out with accessories. But I think either definition works just fine.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Oy, just her accessories could probably pay my rent for six months.

She looks really good. I like the casual hair and makeup here, but I also think a sleek, high ponytail might have worked better.

  • hughman

In the top pic she looked very “Coal Miner’s Daughter” to me. Maybe it’s the hair.

    • I agree. At first I wondered why TLo was featuring an early picture of Loretta Lynn.

    • AmandaCathleen

Completely agree. That hairstyle just looks dated.

    • hillmad

Totally! Thank you! That hair is just so dated, and rather drab and fake looking. I can’t see anything else, I’m afraid; I wouldn’t have noticed any of those fabulous accessories if TLo hadn’t pointed them out.

  • SpcilK

Gotta say, I don’t like anything about this look on her. Each piece is great on it’s own, but put together on her frame looks like lot’s of red fabric with a corset belt. The hair and make-up don’t help much either.

    • judith traherne

Not to mention that it’s SUMMMMMMER. Save this for the staff Christmas Party.

  • Trisha26

Simply too much of everything for me. I think she looks ridiculous.

  • granddelusion

Dress should be shorter. Also, hate the minnie mouse shoes.

  • AmandaCathleen

A large part of this is due to the hair, but she just looks dumpy to me here. The belt is all wrong with that dress (somehow the patent leather corset just doesn’t feel right with a button up), and those platforms are hideous on their own, but especially peeking out of a maxi dress.

That may seem harsh, but girl has access to Prada, Burberry, and YSL. She can do much, much better than this.

  • amian3

This seems like it could be a good choice for the seat next to Dave–short skirts just don’t work in that situation. Hate the extensions. So common.

  • KateMaryC

Kudos for THAT SMILE! I think she’s killing it, and that smile just tops it off.

    • Yay! Particularly that over-the-shoulder smile.

  • Judy_J

Looks like a case of “how expensive can I make this outfit?”

  • TSkot

Hair looks dirty and in need of a brush or comb.

  • leave_Blake_alone

I love that she’s doing all this posing… in front of some dumpsters. Oh, New York!

  • CrazyAuntie

She looks just like Loretta Lynn to me – down to the maxi dress (though Loretta would have many ruffles.)

  • I find myself loving her hair, lately – not that it’s doing *her* any favors, with this look – but more that I’m leaning towards it for my next cut. (Naturally, after spending the last 9 months growing out my bangs)

  • BazoDee

Nice dress, but the make-up seems off for the dress/occasion -not sure -can’t put my finger on it. Maybe it is the hair.

  • Lilak

Love her face, love her smile, hate the hair, hate the shoes.  That is all.

  • 3boysful

But people, how refreshing that there’s an actress out there who doesn’t want us to see the good china when she sits on the couch for her interview!

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

    I love that belt.  Gorgeous.

  • Lina_bee

The silk moves beautifully and I love the long skirt. I think I’m just not thrilled with the shirtdress bodice. (Or the hair.)

  • I feel quite passionately about that dress. Also, I’ve been a sucker for Prada bags since my dad bought me a knock-off from New York 10 years ago (it’s still one of my favorites…quite a well-made knock-off), and that is my absolute favorite. Someday…we’ll be together…

  • She looks so gorgeous.

  • jw_ny

I like this look for the most part…agree that her hair is rather lackluster.  I’d like the skirt better if it were knee length…I think.

  • mjude

  • Cydney Williams

Why does she looks so old? I though that was Michelle Forbes, an actress pushing 50.

    • l3icest3r

I agree. According to IMDB, she’s only 32 — will turn 33 at the end of December. However (IMO), she looks older than her age in all the photos shown there.

      • Ogden1990

She looked terribly old on the last TLO post of her.  When she smiles BIG she looks young(er). It’s the half smile that’s doing her no favors – maybe it’s the thin upper lip…

  • merciblahblah

I would cut a bitch for those shoes. I love how Un-Dragon-Tattoo she looks in the photo where she is walking away from the camera. So pretty.

  • lifetime_student

The hair and the long skirt make me think ‘Young Loretta Lynn in the City.’

  • carolynmo

I love everything about this! I covet that purse.

  • Why did they make her pose in front of garbage bins? She looks fab but I was distracted by the ugly green bins.

  • DominoEstella

    I love it!

  • Also love it. She should take a leaf out of VB’s book and never smile. I need that bag like July needs a sky of blue.

  • Anathema_Device

The Burberry belt in that olive color stopped me dead in my tracks. Want, want, want.

  • kimmeister

Do we know who made the dress?

  • marilyn

This dress is a dud.  It is a Sister Wife’s dress.  The stilettos don’t make sense with it.  Neither does the Loretta Lynn ‘do.  Ane expensive bag and belt cannot save this down home mess.

  • I looooove that dress and belt combo.  But you’re right, as ever, about her hair.  What a lot of meh.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

What is it with all the “maxi” dresses?  Does no one remember 1972?   They were silly and ungainly then too.

  • demidaemon

If this dress was cut of at the knee, I could agree with T & Lo. But this length is too frumpy and weird.

  • kingderella

much better than the last time we saw her here on TLO, doing the ‘conventionally pretty’ thing.
love the belt to death, but not sure it belongs on this dress.

  • guest2visits

At first it looks like it may all be too heavy; but she’s moving so freely in those sassy black platforms, love the belt too.
I think she looks beautiful here.

  • Qitkat

Who wants to take a bet that FLO has already pounced on one of these belts?

  • If you haven’t, do yourself a favor & see her in the original “Girl With The Dragon Tatoo”.  Total dynamite!  And yes, you’ll have to read subtitles for a short time-deal with it.  Her performance will amaze you.

  • It’s not my favorite look, but it’s cute, and she looks super comfy and confident in it, therefore it is fabulous.

  • nannypoo

I didn’t like the dress when she was sitting, but it’s sort of interesting when you see the whole look. She was poised and funny in the interview so I’m willing to forgive her an odd outfit.

  • bellafigura1

Weird, I like it all, but not on her — something about her makes it seem average.  Also, I’m so tired of that dumpster at Letterman’s back door for these Late Show shots.  Can’t somebody get that thing moved?

  • alwaysanswerc

That shot when she’s looking over her shoulder is stunning.

  • Magatha

I like her expression in the photo where she’s looking back over her shoulder. She’s really smiling there, and she’s let her eyes scrunch a little, and that makes her look pretty and human, and also like she’s having fun. I find that charming as hell. But the entire ensemble I think I would appreciate more if it were mid-September. It looks heavy and warmish for June. Especially with the heavy warmish hair. I hope the dress is a natural fiber, because the hair is not. I am sweating in sympathy, which is not charming at all.

  • miagain

hate the shoes, hate the shoes, hate the shoes!!
If I say it three times, they will all go away….

  • TieDye64

Almost. The hair really does ruin it for me, I gotta say. It’s just hanging there and it’s just not flattering. A sleeker ‘do would have been so much better, as it would highlight her lovely features.

  • I’d kill for that belt.

  • The hair bothers me. Probably because my hair looks like that when I first wake up or take it out of a braid. Just-out-of-bed hair is fine if you aren’t going out and don’t need to impress, but here? It looks like she forgot about her hair while she was worrying about all the other details.

  • Bethany Fairbrother

She is awesome!  Brilliant actress, no matter what she wears.

  • frankystein123

Why do I feel like she is wearing some kinky BDSM gear under the dress, is it because of the heels?

  • DRAMATIC. LOVE. OMG, I have a similar belt (although clearly the Gucci one is more superior to mine!), I need a full length red dress!

  • I hate those shoes – nay, clodhoppers – with the hot and fiery passion of a thousand suns. They should be burned, YSL or no.

Giant platforms will never not look strippery to me.

  • alyce1213

Hate hate hate the hooves, dislike the hair, but everything between is fine.

  • LinXGUA

The second photo send me a nostalgia feeling, the look is kind of 70tish fashion combined with that hair. Fresh, though.

  • RzYoung

The dress looks incredible while she’s walking away, the fabric looks great. I think the shoes looks like hooves

    • poggi

Yes, I thought the same thing.  This dress moves really well.

  • poggi

I don’t love it in the first picture but I love it in the walking away picture.  This must look great when she moves and walks.

  • Aren’t the shoes supposed to be Tribtoo?

  • Call me Bee

So want that BAG!  Is it Christmas pretty soon?

  • Sandra Donnally

I’m still unnerved by seeing her smile. She played Lisbeth Salander so well in the GWADT movies that I kind of think she should just walk around and glower at everyone all the time.

  • oohsparkley!

They ripped on Emma for wearing red leather in the heat of summer, but this looks/feels much heavier to me.  Still I love the belt and I think she looks chic.

  • Hot look. Best shirt-dress ever!

  • SophieCollier

She reminds me of Paula Abdul.

  • newtonGOTbeaned

This is so much better than that boring black dress. I don’t like the hair. And it looks like she’s trying to downplay how interesting her face is, which is such a mistake.

  • aristida_girl

Yea Noomi! she looks both pretty and happy, and I love those shoes and bag
