Keira Knightley in Christopher Kane

Posted on June 12, 2012

Keira gets our Miss Lady award of the day. We just made it up.

Keira Knightley makes an appeareance on the “Today” show in Christopher Kane.

Christopher Kane Fall 2012 Collection

But isn’t she perfectly Miss Lady here? Hasn’t she taken that skirt and made it into something entirely different through the power of fabulous? Doesn’t she look just about perfect?

These are rhetorical questions but we’re well aware you bitches will attempt to answer them. We think she looks chic and understated, which is never as easy to pull off as it appears. Nicely done, Miss Lady.

        Well played, spammer.

        • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

Yeah, I’ve noticed TLo getting invaded by spammers the past few days. If I had admin rights to remove spam comments, I would. Of course, I have no powers and do not know TLo personally. :)

Perfection. The hair and makeup, the comfy-looking tee…she looks effortless.

Exactement!   Elle a l’air beau, et tre’s classe.

    • Carla_Charlton

This may be the first time I’ve ever commented without having to say “but…”  She looks perfect –head to toe!

  • alyce1213

Nice, much better than the runway fugliness.  Not great, just nice enough.

  • SapphoPoet

    Beautiful and easy.

  • Deb_Lynn

I do nearly this very look every day to the office. Not trying to be rude, but I think it’s not that difficult a look to achieve. She does look chic and simple and classy.
ETA: of course, as you wrote in the Selena Gomez post; when you mention hollywood stars, I do know you place them on a different plane than all the rest of us. So maybe you’re saying it’s difficult for a star to look chic and understated?

    • mshesterp

I think it has to be difficult, as we almost never see it!  So many of them look over the top, or a hot mess, or boring.  This balances the line of chic and put together and yet still interesting.  i think that’s what they were referring to.

      • Deb_Lynn

When I think about it, stars are likely always pressured to wear the newest and best and haut-est fashions, and maybe they are urged through relationships and connections or whatever to use THIS designer, or THAT fashion house. That could complicate the “chic and understated” that the rest of us “normals” do on a daily basis….

        • http://profiles.google.com/sauchih Sau-Chih Feng

I also want to point out that the clothes we wear, while completely appropriate in every day life, would pale horribly in comparison to the items that the stars wear, just in terms of cut and quality and tailoring. A lot because of the different expectations for “real” people or stars, but also just because these are high fashion items. Understated for a star is going to be different from understated for an office worker, and it doesn’t help that so many of the clothes being thrown at the stars are complicated or super fashion-y.

Also, while I agree that this IS supremely understated in comparison to what a lot of the stars are wearing, I don’t think I’d ever actually wear a skirt this busy.

I do this look every time I go to church. lol
I guess we can call ourselves chic and understated. ; )

You can call yourself a hater. Bye girl fly girl.

    • BrooklynBomber

It’s the Miss Lady Award.  Do not scoff at the Miss Lady Award!

(If I may. . .  and even if I mayn’t. . . I think the whole point is this that, yes, this is a very traditional look, done very well. She looks as yummy as a piece of cherry pie, which may not be groundbreaking, but what’s wrong with a yummy cherry pie?)

    • PaulaBerman

It’s cool that she (or more likely, her stylist) saw that hiddy outfit and was able to parlay it into an outfit that made Keira look like Miss Lady. That’s the achievement IMO.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

So you can easily look like this huh? wearing a heavy fabric Chris kane red skirt and a top black with minimal makeup and a hair bun? really? PICTURES OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN SIS. I wanna see the receipts. Thanks!!!

      • http://twitter.com/LPsometimes LP

Haha, you seem to take it especially personally that some people are not as impressed with this look as others.  Haters, really?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

        Knock it off.

        • Deb_Lynn

          Love.

  • dress_up_doll

There needs to be a “love” button. She looks divine!

  • hughman

She done good. The original looks like a Hazmat Suit for a rodeo but she really made it look wearable.

  • Little_Olive

I don’t love how bulky and stiff the skirt looks, but any improvement on that runway frumpy christmas leftover is a yes in my book.

    • http://twitter.com/Mylynka Mylynka

Ok, I thought I was the only one that thought the skirt makes her, a stick, look bottom-heavy…

  • call_me_schmeg

    bra-less divinity.

    • MilaXX

I don’t mind her going bra less. She barely has boobs to begin with.

      • call_me_schmeg

finally, kiki and i have something in common.

      • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea a Studio by the Sea

Cheers to a flat chested actress who hasn’t succumbed to a boob job.

    • Olivia Snyder-Spak

A LADY WOULD WEAR A BRA! I SEE NIPPLE POINTS. im pro a Miss Lady Award, but this is not a winner.

      • mixedupfiles

News flash, boobs are not perfectly-rounded. Where did we get this notion that they should look like Barbie’s?

        • http://twitter.com/LPsometimes LP

Yeah, she might just be wearing a light bra instead of molding her boobs into round foam orbs.

          • RebeccaKW

Exactly.  I’ve had some bras that aren’t well lined and my nips show through.  And especially for ladies for with very little up top-those bras so many times are just a piece of lace.  Just b/c you see nip point through a shirt doesn’t mean she’s commando up top.

        • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

          Hell, Barbie’s aren’t either. :D

  • Sara__B

THIS is how a movie star should look on the Today Show. Chic, elegant, comfortable. Perfect for sitting or standing, but ever-so-much more stylish than us ordinary mortals. Well done!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

The skirt is very cute.  On another note, I can never look at Ms. Knightley without saying, “Top drawer, darling, top drawer.”  The reaction is similar to saying moo when one sees a cow.

    miss lady indeed

  • chill85

I like it but I’m kind of sick of celebs refusing to wear clothes that are in season. In the fall it’s all summery colors and floaty chiffon and now it’s leather leather leather and black. We get it, you can get clothes from designers before the rest of us can. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t look a bit silly. That curmudgeonliness aside, she does look great yes.

  • Jessica O’Connell

    She looks great! :-)

  • SpcilK

Very understated! I don’t get it.  The sum of her parts are good, but no bra, belt, or jewelry maybe for a weekend not an event.

  • Lina_bee

    Lovely!

  • CassieLee22

Hated the original, but she looks fantastic!!

  • tallgirl1204

So Mad Men, without being literal.

  • MilaXX

She has indeed because I look at the runway version and think too much. Styled like this it looks very feminine and pretty.

  • AthenaJ

I still wish that top was a little more visually interesting… of course the skirt has quite a lot going on already.

    • kimmeister

Yes, the black tee is a little too boring.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I **LOVE** it! My only complaint is that it seems a skosh wintery. Otherwise, I think she looks great!

  • http://www.facebook.com/izzzyy Dixie Murphy Ross

If this were a pairs post, I’d say she’s fucking carrying the runway version. Ick. Well done, Ms. Knightley!

  • Lisa Dugan

She looks so very very beautiful. Am I wrong in wanting it 1/2 inch shorter. Other than that minor unnecessary quibble she is lovely.

  • TheOriginalLulu

She looks better than the model. Bravo.

  • butterflysunita

I love it.  The skirt looks beautiful on her.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XZTPYIF64TK3QDEMWUAS3KULFI Ted

The original, with both the pants and shirt in that bold print, looks like a table lamp. Taking only the skirt and pair with a simple shirt and you have a great look.

  • unbornfawn

MIss Lady! I like it. It needs to be a regular feature!

  • Maria Rosenfire

Okay, what’s with spammers stealing witty comments and posting them under other comments? That’s even shiftier than regular spamming.

In other news, I love her makeup here, and the outfit is lovely as well.

  • Nonnah

I love that skirt.  I wish it wasn’t trimmed in leather so the bottom would fall better, but that wouldn’t keep me from buying it.

  • jw_ny

very pretty.  glad she didn’t opt to wear that smock the model has on…

  • Cousin_Rose

+1 on the Miss Lady award idea.  Although I LOVE reading your comments, sometimes I feel that you nitpick too much and don’t give credit for pretty much perfect. It’s not easy being a Lady Star and your kudos can really help their fragile egos. Anyway, I like Keira a lot and figure she mostly gets it right. Well done!

  • Addicted2Glamour

This could have been Truly Tragic. As shown on the model, this look is very “Target Uniform Designed by Blind, Gay Rodeo Clown.” But Miss Keira looks Fantastic.

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

    Miss Lady indeed. Perfect.

I wish I knew what lip color she had on. I have her coloring and it looks perfect on her.

    • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

Right? That is a FABULOUS lip color on her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

I LOOOOOOOOOVE Ms. Knightley, always and forever. She looks super cute and effortless cool. Look at how fresh-faced she is? laaawd ham mercy. She is glowing and me thinks her recent engagement has something to do with it. I can’t wait to see Seeking a friend at the end of the world and I am even more excited for the epic that is going to be Anna Karenina. Joe Wright never disappoints when he works with Ms. Knightley. Hopefully she finally gets to win a well deserved BAFTA for best actress. I still cannot believe they snubbed for her Pride and Prejudice. Fucking bastards. Ok! I am going to stop now but yeah, she is super cute and all the haters ( I know you are lurking around somewhere) FALL THE FUCK BACK. Cheers!!!

  • GorgeousThings

Very pretty! The best she’s looked in ages. Not sure if she (hopefully) put a little meat on her bones or if it’s just the angle/lighting, but she looks great.

  • nannypoo

When you’re as skinny as she is even a bulky fabric like this one can’t make you look fat. Even though I don’t like her hair, I think she looks fabulous.

  • http://twitter.com/aidanboleyn Aidan B

    Love love love!

  • zippyzippity

Miss Lady seriously needs to get to a bathroom, though, amiright?

  • miagain

What was Christopher thinking, with that stupid top?  Keira looks lovely!

  • GTrain

Love it. It looks so much better w/ longer sleeves.

  • Marian Humin

    She needs a cheeseburger.

  • Call me Bee

Very nice.  She looks French, which, I guess, is a compliment among most circles…

  • golspie

There’s something intrinsically annoying about her. The more natural and unaffected and unspoiled she tries to appear, the more pretentious she seems to me.

  • Susan Crawford

She looks adorable, despite that “God-I-have-to-pee” crossed leg pose. What is UP with that, folks?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_B3CIEK7XAS3YKAAKFJFMIIKC4I Nacogdoches

She needs a bra, or a better bra. Ladies don’t let their nipples poke through their little t-shirts.

  • Anglow

I think she looks very nice.

  • snarkykitten

oh my stars & garters, a lady without a bra? blasphemy! harlot!

    god get over yourselves.

Seriously, her stylist needs to be more famous.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Hated this collection on the runway, but damned if she didn’t pull it off and make it look chic and easy.  Love.Huh.

  • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

This reminds me a lot of how she looked at the beginning of The Edge of Love, when her character was freaking FABULOUS. But then, her retro face always makes her look old-fashioned, in a really lovely way. I love this. Simple but still striking, and pretty much perfect. I am glad that my dial swung back around to “love” on her: irrational love is way more fun than irrational hate.

  • Jacquelina La Bomba

YAAAAAAAAAAWN. Skirt reminds me of the print on dollar-store bandanas, and eye makeup looks like undereye circles. No, thank you.

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

Gorgeous. I wish I could work the super smokey eye like she does.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

Totally changed the look of the skirt!  The whole outfit, on the model was hiddy!

P.S.  I’d LOVE to earn a Miss Lady award!  That’s a keeper TLo!

  • http://twitter.com/jennawaterford Jennifer Ford

Love her and she looks so great here.

I know she’s been doing stuff, but I still kind of miss her. She was such a strong, vibrant personality in the Pirates movies and I want her to have another, kick-ass, take-no-prisoners action role.

  • Rebecca Jay

Hideous skirt, sloppy-looking tee, and she looks ill – like she has the flu or something.  Or maybe that’s just the punched-in-in-the-face eye makeup.

  • judybrowni

Thank god she dropped the bib and leather short sleeves!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

    Yay! And no pouty-face! #winning

  • Joey Melliza

    eye kane-d!

  • TieDye64

    She looks lovely.

This with that former face framing bob she had a while back, and we would all bow down.

  • RzYoung

Love it. I really rate her these days, she looks gorgeous and serene

  • michelle shields

Very cute although she needs to eat a cheeseburger or two

  • mhleta

Oh….she had me until the skirt length, which is kind of terrible. Hits her right in the wide part of the calf, a sure fire recipe for clubby legs. If she’d kept the length where it is on the model, just above the knee, this would have been in the stratosphere. I’ll linger on the bottom photo where skirt length doesn’t show and therefor doesn’t kill the fabulous buzz. Gourgeios.

  • http://www.katidom.com/ Kati B

I do love Keira’s style. I also desperately wish she’d eat a sandwich. But yes, she looks gorgeous here.

  • MoHub

I like that she replaced the top. She looks put-together and comfortable in a lovely, understated way.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Fabulous in every way. I love her hair and make-up too.

  • Judy_J

I love this look!  She’s knocked it out of the park.  Classy, classy, classy.

  • Magatha

She looks great. I don’t even think she looks that hungry; I think she is just being all contemplative, i.e. she is acting, and doing it well, too, given the throngs of photographers clicking away.

Also, her very lovely mouth is closed. Keira! Look! You are gorgeous even without that mouth half-open mouth-breathin’ pose.

  • http://twitter.com/unflinchingly Lindsey Romain

I love Keira and am so depressed every time a post is made about her because it always comes with the seemingly mandatory “girl needs to eat” commentary, which is just gross. A) Her body is her body so she can do what the fuck she wants with it thanks, B) it’s obnoxiously rude to think that just because a person is naturally lean they have issues with food, C) telling someone to “eat a cheeseburger” is one of the grossest statements – it’s really demeaning in a way I can never quite articulate. Not all women have curves, not all women have flat stomachs, not all women have pin-straight hair or freckles.

I think she looks lovely, sophisticated and that her body is perfectly fine because it’s HERS and she WORKS IT.

  • http://twitter.com/dixielou8 Ashley

    Lovely!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She beats the living crap out of that model.

  • guest2visits

So pretty. Thankyou Keira for not wearing the hideous top. And thankyou for doing something cute with the hair.

  • EEKstl

Home run.  Shoes and hair are perfect too.

  • kolokOlchik

I wish that skirt was a bit shorter and tighter.  It seems long and baggy

  • librarygrrl64

Looks SO much better in her version. Nicely done.

  • Lisa Salmon

Sorry, no – it looks like Talbots.  Don’t like it at all.

  • bellafigura1

Eh, I know what you’re saying, but everything looks too big, and the skirt is definitely too long.  Better fitting and I’d be with ya.

  • http://www.facebook.com/heatrush Heather Rushworth

She needs a bra, but otherwise, glamour and lovely.

  • http://www.thatwasnotveryravenofyou.com/ That Was Not Very Raven of You

She is gorggggeeeousssss. I can’t believe how chic she made that skirt.

  • http://southernsugar.wordpress.com/ Southern Sugar

I like this so much better than the outfit on the model.  That skirt is fantastic, and the black shirt lets it shine.
