In or Out: Emma Stone in Dolce&Gabbana

Posted on June 22, 2012

Look, we’re really sorry. We were totally going to skip the Stone/Garfield juggernaut for one day but then she wore this:

Emma Stone attends “The Amazing Spider-Man” premiere in Madrid, Spain in a Dolce&Gabbana dress paired with Christian Louboutin shoes and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry.

Dolce&Gabbana Spring 2012 Collection

And we knew we could not leave it un-discussed. We’ll keep it really quick, because we know you’re all experiencing stomach pains and flashes at the corner of your eyes from overexposure. Shape? A little odd! Style? A little great on her! Hair and makeup? Greatly improved! Shoes? Tragic and too large! Final thoughts? Love that dress, even tho it looks like upholstery!

Okay, just do what you have to and let’s get this over with. Quickly, now.

Vote Now!

Voting on Mila Kunis’ New Year’s Eve dress is still open.

In-I’m not a fan of the sleeves, or the shoes, but she looks good, which is more than can be said about a lot of her looks recently

    • demidaemon

      I too hate the sleeves.

      • Yes, would look so much better if we ripped off the sleeves!

In fact, would be super KILLER if we ripped off the sleeves. Let’s all rip her dress!

  • Jessi03

  • she looks like she is ready to snap and flee.

    • schadenfreudelicious

i am afraid she is about to snap an ankle in those too large pumps!

  • SusiePamudji

In. I kinda love this even though from certain angles it looks like a couch.

  • Kristalbailey

In! On the rack I’m sure that dress looks horrible, but she makes it work.

  • greymain

not terrible… actually much better than usual. Thanks for no pink eyes.

  • In – But is it me, or is she channeling Rachel McAdams?

    • First thing I thought (and I vote IN, too, b/c RMcA is way chic).

      • Gorengirl

I thought the same thing. Looks just like her. I think Emma is much prettier with red hair.

    • 3boysful

That’s a good one; I was also thinking Jeri Ryan.  She doesn’t look like herself in these photos.

      • kimmeister

Totally thought ‘Jeri Ryan having a midlife crisis.’  Wouldn’t have known it was Emma until the last pic.

    • Totally was going to comment that

    • pepper76

Yes, and they both look better with dark hair.

  • I love it. I don’t even know how it’s a question. IN.

  • IN. i really like this (shoes aside). it fits her beautifully, and it seems very madrid-appropriate to boot.

    ETA: and seasonal! whodda thunk.

    • Judih1

I agree with everything you said

  • Ruth Preston

Happy Thanksgiving from gramma’s house. Don’t get gravy on the table runner. OUT.

    • YES.  THAT’S what this was reminding me of.  Thank you.  My grandmother has a lace (with a plastic coating) table cloth, without the color, that looks almost exactly like the fabric for this dress. Out.

    • hillmad

Happy Thanksgiving from gramma’s house. Don’t get gravy on the table runner. OUT.ROFL Perfect! Granma’s tablecloth was all I could think of! Thanks!

    • ballerinawithagun

Perfect description. Guess that makes it an out. The shoe problem really pushed it over the edge.

  • I can’t decide if I like the dress or not, which I realize is a huge cop-out. But I do think the styling and length on Emma S. is about 6 million times better than on the runway model, who looks like some sort of escapee from a dirndl wearing madhouse.

  • Vaniljekjeks

In, she looks cute, and it’s a weird dress to pull off.  I respect her for wearing it.  I still like it better when she wears edgier dresses.

  • IN! I think it’s very adorable.

  • Mild IN. It’s an improvement, but the shoes are awful and I really dislike the sleeves.

  • sockandaphone

omg no. That dress is doing nothing for her and those shoes are a tragedy. OUT.

    • carolynmo

      No, no, no. Out.

    • lamamu

The dress is doing nothing for her because the styling is all wrong. Should’ve gone edgier with the hair and shoes to elevate the look beyond Prairie Home Companion. To get it right, this dress requires a level of commitment a la Kruger.

      • sockandaphone

I just dont like the dress. The proportions of it are weird.

  • Miss_Led

It seems very alpine Heidi. At least she didn’t wear braids.

    • I see a Norwegian milk maid. OUT.

      • NC_Meg

I also thought milk maid. A resounding OUT from me.

    •  With those puff sleeves, I was thinking Anne of Green Gables.

  • Emily Miranda

Out.  It looks really cute on the runway, so I’m not sure why I don’t like it on her.  The hair pieces somehow brought it together more on the runway, I think

  • TieDye64

Hmmm. I dunno. The style is pretty fab on her, though I seriously dislike the poofy sleeves and the damn shoes. I’ll give her a minor “in”.

  • AudreysMom

    WTF? Completely OUT.

  • IN!

It’s classic and quirky enough for her to pull off — -even if shoes are bad.

  • rougeort

That neckline does fabulous things for her, as does the hair. Makeup is relatively bland, hem a skoosh too long, and those shoes are terrible both in their color and size. Is it too hard too get shoes that fit in Hollywood?

But ultimately she looks passable. IN.

    • SojournerYouth

I agree–I like the neckline waaaaaaay more than I would have thought on her, since I am not a fan of overlays.  I like the dress overall,  but I wish the rest of the white parts didn’t have the overlay as well.  Something about the lacy texture fights with the surprisingly lovely floral print, and takes away form the body-framing that the print accomplishes.  She looks really, really pretty, though.

  • barbarasingleterry

She looks a little “Heidi from the Swiss Alps” to me, but is still an IN.  Interesting dress and I like the shape of the dress.

    • FloTom

My first thought exactly – Heidi !!!

  • TomBord

    What a pretty lace apron!

  • nancy

OK this is weird, but I like the lacy look on the model better. With a liner it just seems too much of a big expanse of plain white. (Hate the headband & earrings on the model though.) The shoes look like her ankle is about to turn painfully. Maybe I’m just grumpy ’cause it’s a gorgeous Friday in So Cal and I’m inside working, but… OUT.

  • Leslie Streeter

Nooooo-delayhehoo! The hills are alive with the sound of crying. It’s a Swiss miss! I got a million of ’em! And they all say it sucks!

    • I too heard yodeling in my head lol.  OUT, but it made me chuckle, so there’s that.

  • Terence Ng

It’s different and really compliments her skin. IN. A weird IN, but yes, IN.

  • If you ignore the shoes, gorgeous, IN.

  • kelsita421

i’m hearing all the reasons to like this and i’m trying, but for some reason i can’t. OUT.

    • introspective

My thoughts exactly. I thought immediately- homegirl is oh so out. Then I read so many of the raves from the fellow kittens and thought maybe I should give this a second chance.

Then I looked at the pics again. And still thought girl, bye. That shit is fug.

  • Chris Dennis

In. Her hair looks great but I CAN. NOT. with those exposed bobby pins. What is that? WHY is that?

  • SummerSquash

Out. Awful. And I don’t think the hair is good at all.

    • AmandaCathleen

I completely agree about the hair. Those big white bobbi pins just look silly.

  • Loving everything except the shoes. IN!

  • mmgk

I’m so undecided on this.  I kind of like it, but it also looks like she should have on wooden clogs and dancing through tulips or something. I think the sleeves take it a step too far?

  • julnyes

  • In_Stitches

She looks like the tallest girl at her first holy communion-it’s those darned sleeves.  That, plus her makeup artist’s predilection for turning her into Melinda Clarke=a big ol’ OUT.

  • Ali

    Oh god, NO.

  • interesting, but I think it’s Kirsten Dunst’s dress, not Emma’s.

  • Ali

I kinda sorta like this on the model – but this is SO not her dress.

  • In. Love it.

  • Sobaika

Marginal in, but she really needed stronger makeup and better shoes to make it an IN.

  • The sleeves. Oh god.  But the rest, Yay, I am so torn.

  • mommyca

IN… she looks cute… But I was wondering: should her stylist (or assistant, or whoever gets her clothes) be fired for getting her shoes too big? can a movie star get samples on HER size? I don’t know… those are the things I wonder about on a Friday afternoon…. 🙂

  • AmandaCathleen

Out. I just can’t with those sleeves.

  • crash1212

A qualified IN. If for no other reason than she had the wisdom to chop off half of the lace-shin-guard as shown on the model.

  • So IN! I actually clapped with glee when I saw the dress. I really need somebody to go on a red carpet wearing one of the dresses from this collection with the cherubs on it, though.

  • VicksieDo

IN! Goregous dress, hair, makeup and even the shoes, if they fit.

  • It’s one of the Von Trapp children, all grown up!

  • Horrible.  Out.

  • belfebe

IN.  I can’t believe I love her in a dress that looks like a tablecloth.  But somehow, she’s making it work and looks fabulous.

  • Frostypup

Milkmaidy. Still, I somehow like it. Terrible shoes, though.

  • drdirection

She usually has a lovely, wide, open-mouthed smile.  This closed mouth makes her look like someone else.

  • I don’t know how to feel about this. my first instinct says “GRANNY!” but it actually kind of works. I hate her hair though. I say IN.

  • elleg929

OUT – it looks like my grandma’s throw pillows.

  • out–she looks uncomfortable, and way too much like a german beer girl

  • jan lee

UGH, too heavy and fussy for me and there’s the tragic shoes, but purely for the MUCH improved face and hair, I’ll go with giving her some encouragement and vote this a IN.

  • It’s very “SPOT THE YONI” to me.

  • kikisayshi

At first glance, I loved this, then at the next photo thought “old lady”, then went back to “yes, this is good”. Overall an IN. And as a side note, I think she really likes to wear flip-flops at home, and that’s why she always wears shoes that are way too big for her.

  • IN

  • littlemac8

Is she channeling Mariah Carey with that butterfly ring?  Eeek.  Poor accessorizing but pretty, summery dress   IN

  • From the knees up it’s an IN, so since that’s a majority of her body, we’ll just go with in.

  • The shape of the white lace part is so…odd. Gotta give it an OUT, especially because I want to order a wheat beer from her.

    • poggi

Emma, bring one for me too.

  • julesj

it would be a beautiful table cloth. shoes are ridiculous. out.

  • Larkin21

I love this. Her hair and make-up look great, although I do feel like she could have a bit more color to her face. Prefer this to what it has been, that’s for sure. I think the dress looks really good on her. IN!

  • Violina23

Love the hair and makeup, but not crazy about the shape of the dress. Borderline IN from me

  • Ozski

It’s couch-y and I think the only person on the planet who could carry this off would be Nicole Kidman. Her face and hair are adorable though.

  • Daniele Paulding

  • BazoDee

I am sooo undecided on this. It is sort of an ungly dress, but she makes it look pretty good. The shape is nice on her and hair and make-up are great -i’m leaning towards IN

  • KathKo

    Ouch !
Too much Gretel for my taste.

  • Jeni Williams

  • I feel like the shoes are SO big and the bobby pins might be a bridge too far, but all together she looks good. IN.

  • MilaXX

OUT, I think she’s too pale for this. Shoes are awful

  • MoHub

Looks like a waitress in a Wursthaus. She just needs to switch out the pumps for a little pair of black Mary Jane flats and grab a stein, and she’s all set.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

This poor kid!  The movie hasn’t even opened in the US yet … if it were me, at this point I’d be inclined to show up in my sweats and bunny slippers, flip off the photographers, and crawl back into bed with a bottle of tequila and a trashy novel.

  • sleepycat

Snow White and 7 Italian tablecloths although it is an IN

  • OUT. Is that actual petit point on those sleeves? Eek. It’s not flattering and it looks scratchy. Also her hair is half-assed.

  • formerlyAnon

God knows why, this incorporates many of my fondest and most intense sartorial HATES. But [I gotta say it again] God knows why, she looks great in it and it looks great on her.

The shoes are boring and too big, but it would have been easy, easy, easy, to wear the Wrong Shoes, while these are merely stunningly under-achieving, so maybe a wise choice.

P.s. Thank-you sooo dearly for not including her soul- or at least publicity tour- mate in this one.

  • demidaemon

Sleeves–a big no. Is this a little “Little House on the Prarie” meets your grandmother’s couch? Yes. But if I just cut out the weird sleeves, I kind of like it, especially with the opaque hose. IN, by a margin.

  • AlinaValero

in! also does she have incredibly tiny feet? so much that shoes don’t exist that fit her? because that’s the only explanation i can think of for this repeated offense.

  • sk8tfan

Set this dress free to go to Keira Knightly, who would rock it.

  • In, love the dress. I think it would look nice with her hair up, maybe in a pony tail, just because the dress has so much going on. But it’s really a work of art, isn’t it? The shoes, however, are tragic.

  • kingderella

well, this is really on the edge of… well, something. but shes pulling it off and therefore gets an enthusiastic IN from me, especially because its so unusual. the shoes are too big, tho.

  • Aly Light

Oh dear god, no. Unless she’s dressed up to celebrate Midsummer’s Day in Sweden, this is flat-out OUT.

  • jilly_d

WTF is everyone smoking?  This is so, soooo out.  Just for the sleeves and epically bad shoes alone.

  • Judy_J

OUT.  Looks like grandma’s doily draping grandma’s floral tablecloth.  I expected to see a buffet laid out on her chest.

  • Jangle57

Heidi called, she wants her dress back.  Hate the dress, hate the shoes – OUT

  • Linzenberg

IN, once you cut her feet off.  I’m kind of loving the tapestry effect, which is odd, because I loathed the 70s-crafty feel of Kiera Knightly’s dress a few days ago.

  • She doesn’t look bad, but I’m sorry – that dress is HIDEOUS. Crafty Grandma. OUT!

  • Why do people want to wear applique tablecloths? Did somebody hit a yard sale or something? And the poor baby looks so tired.

  • RebeccaKW

    In.  I really like this.

The poor girl has bad luck with shoes.

  • giiiirrrr

The Miracle Dress by Laura Ashley.  And yet, I kind of like it.  A qualified IN, because of course, the shoes…

  • In. This is the best look she’s sported in weeks.

  • TheOtherChristina

    Love it! So very IN!

  • twocee

Out.  Girl, that is not your dress.  Or at least it’s not your pattern.

  • I think if the dress had been sleeveless, it would have been perfect. Sigh… a tepid IN vote. (Definitely a VAST improvement over her past several outings.)

  • dickylarue

Out. She looks like one of those Russian dolls revealing smaller versions of themselves inside her once we twist off their heads. Someone give her a kerchief for her head and she’d be having a Fiddler moment.

  • Sara__B

I don’t like the “hour glass wrapped in needlepoint” effect. OUT.

  • SapphoPoet

I kinda love it, although could do with better sleeves. It’s looking very 1985 The Limited.

  • melanie0866

Out.  Looks like a pillow I would have thought would be great on my sofa in 1989.

  • Lina_bee

OUT. I put tapestries on my walls, not my body. The cami neckline of the bodice is crooked and looks unfinished. Her hair looks limp and her face is weirdly colorless.  The shoes are distracting, too. Looks like a cry for help, or else for about a week of sleep that doesn’t involve any flights on airplanes or Spidey poledancing.

  • allisankelly

Glad they cut the extra lace off the bottom. She looks tired as hell. Like Angelina Jolie-grade bags under those pretty eyes. These kids need a break!

Don’t care for the sleeves and I really don’t know how else it could have been lined, but that is causing my eye to twitch. Shoes are too big, but she’s IN. Now go take a nap.

  • vanjar

It looks like one of those self embroidered pillows my nan used to have. It’s different…. As always not a fan of the shoes most of the young actresses are wearing on the RC. I like the shape… Not really sure about the hair and accessories… It’s a in…, I think.

  • librarygrrl64

IN, especially because it’s a Spanish premiere and because it looks better with less lace at the hem, but the shoes are abominable.

  • Anna Tree

My heart says in but my head says out. What the hell, IN.

  • NCDFan

    In, the dress is adorable.

  • greyhoundgirl

out.  hate the dress–very visceral response but there it is.

  • In all seriousness, T&L, there are other female celebrities in the world and it truly is getting old that every other post seems to be about this lady.

  • Mexxoo

Oh, it looks like the lace doily draped over my great-great grandmother’s hand embroidered dining room seats!  And yet… it’s strangely appealing…  She had it shortened, which actually makes it look better.  And the shape-suggesting layout of the cross-stitching is figure flattering.  I think I have to go with an IN!

  • j_anson

Hmmmm. It took me till the third photo to convince myself it was really Emma Stone. I was really convinced you might have accidentally picked up some pictures of Katherine Heigl. That can’t be good, right? (Nothing against Katherine Heigl; I just think Emma Stone should look like Emma Stone.) I’m really not crazy about this hair and makeup. It’s… over-groomed to the point of stiffness? Not bad, just overdone.

But I love the dress on her, so.

    But those shoes are awful.

Oh man. Iiiin, I guess. I’m going to choose to believe I’d have liked it better if the photos didn’t have some awkward expressions in them.

  • suzq

In.  WAY WAY WAY better than the runway version, which looked like some twee Czarina knock-off.  Not crazy about the shoes, but that’s a minor quibble.

  • vaughn75

    out, as in outerspace

  • msdamselfly

It’s a pretty dress but looks too big on her

  • shawnhunter

in. and i weirdly wouldn’t mind the shoes…if they were the right size. she seems to have a problem with that. that’s like the 4th pair of shoes in this spider-man tour that doesn’t fit. also, gurl looks TIRED. hopefully she’ll get some rest soon.

  • sherrietee

    upholstery is out.

  • Pants_are_a_must

No, no, she’s a table cloth. NO. And the make up makes her look like Gillian Jacobs, who NEVER gets it right on the red carpet. OUT.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

OUT.  Not one thing about this look that excites me, except that her hair looks relatively untouched, which is a good thing.  Still too heavy on the eye makeup.  The shoes are sick, and not in a good way.

  • lilibetp

Despite the fact that it looks like she’s wearing a sofa slipcover (antimacassars and all), I kind of like it on her.  Well, not the shoes…

  • Is that petite point? Dear lord that is taking “looks like grandma’s couch” too far. OUT.

  • blueberrybbait

Out she looks like a cross between a couch and Little House on the Prairie. That said she has made a remarkable effort in trying to make it work.

  • OUT. Too Heidi meets Hollywood.

  • unbornfawn

Maybe if you took off those sleeves and the lace at the hem. OUT!

  • So many beautiful colors in that dress to choose from, and she picked those dreadfully boring shoes.  I despair of Young Hollywood.

  • Bitte, fraulein, may I have my tablecloth back?  The other guests here in the Alpine hostel would like to have their table covered before we serve their dinner.  Danke.

  • I say IN, despite that weird pursed lip smile. Is she secretly pissed off about something? The main color of the dress makes her skin look pale and creamy so that the pops of color in the dress look lovely on her.

  • miagain

I like it a lot!! I like if for what it isn’t…. short, shiny, tight, and sparkly!
    IN IN

  • I was gonna say in until I saw the up close pictures. It doesn’t just look like upholstery, it is LITERALLY a needlepoint pillow made into a dress. Sorry. OUT.

  • She’s so adorable but the bobby pin origami in the hair is just wrong.

  • Much more flattering from a side angle but still not enough to push it to an IN for me. It’s hard not to judge harshly when we all know how good she COULD look!

  • AWS

Dear Lord! They made a dress from my mommy’s old kitchen place mats!

  • Nicole Merrill

IN, even though it would’ve looked better without puff sleeves and *way* better with different shoes.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Cut the sleeves off and we’re golden! OUT based entirely on the shoes. I love you Emma, but I just can’t.

  • joe_tey83

    Kind of In-ish, I guess.

  • MK03

OUT. She looks like a Hummel figurine.

  • It’s weird, but I’m IN. She’s working it.

  • PinkLemon

IN!! although i prefer the delicacy of the original.

  • ChelseaNH

IN — finally!  I’d like a little (just a little) more color on the face, and some better shoes, but the dress is really working for her.

  • Julaine Morley

In! The use of upholstery-like fabric actually creates an interesting silhouette, though the sleeves are too cavernous. It’s a better length than on the runway model, who – did anyone notice? – has sleeves of differing length.

  • altalinda

The dress is not bad, but the rest, blech.  Out.

  • It’s just too much. OUT.

  • Joyce VG

  • trisker

IN – dress is great.  she looks great except 4 shoes

  • Lilithcat

It reminds me of Santino’s work in the lingerie challenge.  And that is not a good thing.

  • call_me_schmeg

    no. just….. no.

  • marilyn

Out.  How many times a day does she change clothes?  This one is too milk maid/upholstery fabric for me.

  • JMansm

IN (barely). I adore that dress; it’s definitely bizarre but really well suited to her. I really don’t like her hair or makeup; it looks like she’s trying to hard and I’d prefer something just a bit more youthful in both areas. Shoes are a wreck.

  • HobbitGirl

    1. She looks like a really fashionable milkmaid.
    2. The shape reminds me of Cate Blanchett’s Oscars gown from a couple of years ago (the one with the bosom frame).

  • Bailey Debruynkops

IN even though the shoes are, indeed, tragic.

  • GillianHolroyd

out. she’s a young, pretty actress  and designers are throwing the *wrong* clothes at her!

  • Somebody please make it stop! I say “out” just because I can’t look at her anymore.

  • OUT the sleeves are not the right shape for her and if you’re going to borrow and wear a $500 pair of heels get them in your size please, and I am actually not a big fan of the visible bobby pin hair

  • This is a desperate cry for help. This Emma saying, “Please someone rescue me from this bad decision and CGI me into The Avengers. I just want to be loved.” I recommend quietly moving her to an undisclosed location until she can star in the next Iron Man movie as a villainess.

Also, OUT. That dress belongs to Heidi of the Swiss Alps in 1940. It is too heavy and hideous for anything but a high school costume trunk.

  • Tablecloth-so OUT.

  • PastryGoddess

    in…very Fraulein Stone

  • In in in. Don’t care for the sleeves or the neckline, but this dress looks cute and she looks comfortable.

  • teensmom99

Out out out.  Was glad at first glance that it was summery but then I actually looked and it isn’t summery.  It has the flowers in that upholstery way, not summery day way.  It’s nice when people aren’t too exposed but this is too covered up.  did I say it’s out?

  • kimmeister

    Oh, heck no.  Out.

  • lrhoff

In from my account…..not perfect but really very nice.

  • Tigerfly

Wishing I could post this in a size 200, flaming font… this is so very, very O.U.T.

  • Daenyx

Out, out, out, out, and out.  I HATE that dress.  The shape is hideous, it DOES look like upholstery, and much like approximately half of what D&G produces, it’s infantilizing.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Out for the visible bobby pins alone.

  • Leonardo Alves

    It looks so…. bayern! hahaha
    Still, love it! IN

  • Adele Zhang

oh my god this is so in!

    • DebbieLovesShoes

I completely agree.  I love it.

  • DaveUWSNYC

    Central European tablecloth. Out.

  • saanrio

OUT!  She is wearing my aunt’s couch pillows!

  • sunandmoon24

out. Looks too big on her

  • Abigail Speltz

All I can think about is an old Laura Ashley dress with a bib.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

I’ll probably be vilified for this, but I LOOOOOOOVE it.

  • Elias Pineda

in    the only thing really bad is the shoes but i like it

  • Beth G

She looks like a waitress from Pannekoeken.

  • Liverpoolgirl

    awful, just awful

  • A_Rimbaud

Out. The dress is beautiful and suits her, but the shoes…

  • OUT.

  • DominoEstella

I love everything but the shoes.. god damned ugly ass nude colored shoes.

  • m0r0

I am not a fan of the exposed multiple bobbi-pins in her hair. UGH!
    Dress? Gorge

  • mom2ab

I just want to put a gravy boat on her belly button- OUT

  • lesmaha

  • Beardslee

    out.  those shoulders!

  • Derrick Austin

Can someone send this Frau Klum for ironic purposes?

  • Anne Lucchesi

Give it to Cate. Emma’s too new at this to pull it off and it’s too twee for Zoe Saldana’s wheelhouse. That dress needs somebody who knows what she’s doing.

  • jessicasac

Almost in. Something isn’t right. I can’t quite figure it out.

  • ThaliaMenninger

IN. I don’t love the hair, the shoes or the makeup, but the dress is different and cute.

  • Sally Brownson

In- I go back and forth on whether the sleeves are making her look like a German milkmaid, but ultimately, I think she’s pulling it off.

  • LambeeBaby

Rip those shitty sleeves off and it would be great. Shoes out. White bobby pins? Out.
    So overall OUT

  • Amy

Emma the 90’s called, and they want their sleeves back.

  • Rei Carter

In.  It’s striking and pretty. I like how it has a princess vibe without being a typical princess dress.

  • out out out!

  • MissKimP

No, no, no!  Grandma’s couch, with antimacassar.  Yuck.  (Just to be clear, that’s an OUT.)

  • In! Pretty!!!!!!

  • Aurumgirl

I was starting to feel a little sorry for her with these relentless red carpet moments in ever more challenging dresses, but then I saw the photo of the model.  Emma looks like she’s “getting through it”, but she doesn’t look like her spirit’s been broken and she just doesn’t see a future. In! (but shoes really should fit).

  • OUT. It’s too fussy for her.

  • Monabel

    In. Interesting sleeves.

  • nannypoo

I like but do not love this. I’m glad she avoided the model’s Peasant at a Festival styling and went with a simpler look. Lipstick seems to be a challenge for her. It’s either too red or too dark or too pale. This dress seems to require more color in her face.

  • Veronica1022

I’m thinking that Fraulein Maria is pissed someone stole her curtains.

  • Lilak

    Babygirl looks tired.

  • IN! I really love the dress, though I agree that the shoes are way too big, and could have been a little more colorful. I actually DON’T like the hair – it’s a tad bit too cutesy. But this is still a great look to me!

  • Alisa Rivera

She looks like she should have Home Sweet Home in needlepoint on her stomach. OUT.

  • Sara Loud

Out but not her fault.  The dress is crap.

  • I say IN. But man, I can’t wait until she gets back to red hair.

  • OUT.  The dress looks like bordered stationery.

  • In.  I love it, and I don’t know why.

  • INteresting.

  • Jenn Carr

With all due respect, have y’all lost your minds? I adore Emma, but that dress is bad, shoes are a nightmare, and white bobby pins in the hair? No.  OUT.

  • Reminds me of my grandmother’s table cloth. I don’t like the scoopneck tank she’s wearing underneath.

  • MemHey

    Too much pale. Out.

  • Louise Bryan

IN.  I’m a sucker for romantic looks.

  • Out. She looks like a beer stein.

  • leave_Blake_alone

So odd, but IN. I kind of love it?

  • Judih1

Why is she so often in shoes that are too large? She makes enough money to BUY a pair shoes that fit instead of getting free shoes that are not in her size

  • Aki

If only she had picked up the blue or the red in the dress for her shoes, this look would have been perfect then, but if I pretend she doesn’t have feet, this is an easy IN.

  • an IN for me. Love the dress actually, very fresh-looking. But not sure why Emma Stone is giving that weird, tight-lipped smile.

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

    She looks ridiculous. OUT!

  • Caaro3

Totally, totally OUT.  Looks good on the runway, though.

  • sk8tfan

  • DCSheehan

    Out. Holly Hobbie horrible.

  • NurseEllen

I cannot get behind anyone who goes out with visible bobby pins–white ones, no less–as part of a hairdo. And I hate the dress. OUT.

  • IN!

  • Judy_S

IN, on points for wearing a difficult dress at an appropriate venue, despite demerits for the shoes. She probably felt the demerits with every step she took. No wonder young actresses are so scared of eating. They have to be able not only to wear shoes like this but shoes like this that don’t fit, without falling over. Every extra pound would count against it.

  • Patricia Gillett

The bobby pins are making my eyes twitch, the shoes are tragic and the dress looks like what you’d find on an antique settee pictured in Victoria Magazine. If you’re going to dress like furniture in magazines, at least aim for Dwell. OUT.

  • Ksagun13

My eyes! My eyes!!  It’s hideous needlepoint upholstery.  OUT!!!

  • ChaquitaPhilly

The dress print is much too sofa-ish and the hair is truly terrible. I wish her movie would open so she would go away for awhile.

  • So that’s what happened to Grandma’s prized needlepoint footstool cushion.

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

love the dress. looks its a size too large on her… hate the shoes

  • IN!

  • Love the dress on her! The make-up looks good as well, but HATE the shoes.
    Still, IN!

  • Warrior89

Out.  That’s one ugly dress.  And I hate her blonde…it washes her out so much.  Bring back the red, Emma.

  • OUT- I feel like there should be a monogram in the middle of it. It looks like stationery.

  • guest2visits

It’s not bad; but it doesn’t do much for her. The lackluster shoes don’t help.
I think the full on Heidi that the model is wearing is a lot more interesting.
As I scrolled down, I thought there would be a goat with a bell at the end of that chain.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

In!  But the shoes are an OUT!

  • TheLaurenJean

    OUT. No question.

  • judybrowni

    insane milkmaid

  • blondie65

Sorry..out..reminds me way too much of a shower curtain I had in the 80’s.

  • It shouldn’t be working for me, but it is. IN.

  • Srw27

She looks like a German brew house wench (and I don’t mean that as a compliment).  OUT

  • SophieCollier

I love it!  And yay, the proportions are right (shorter lace at the bottom, roses extend lower than on the runway piece.)  She looks great, and I can forgive the shoes because they are just there for foot coverage.  It’s all about that DRESS!

  • IN. It’s a little mail-order bride somehow, but I think the overall aesthetic is a good place for her to  be.

  • ccm800

Out. Nacht wine alt bier bitte

  • Love her hair and makeup. The dress is OK, but the shoes are not. I’ll still give her an IN.

  • Out. I can’t even type clear thoughts on this one.  Just out.

  • cleep1000

I just keep seeing “Holly Hobby” from the 1970s. OUT.

  • She looks like dolled-up Swedish milk maid. Bad shoes and less than great colors all together with that still too blond hair. Sorry Emma, it is out.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Meh, all in all, kind of blah. OUT.

  • Dear God! So very out!!!

  • OUT. gut reaction, first impulse, out.

  • mila_8

Out. Looks like she should be standing next to someone in lederhosen.

  • In. The shape is weird and it looks like the waist could be taken in a little bit, but that kind of tapestry look is very traditional Spain looking. I hate the hair, though. Wish she’d go back to red because it gives her face some colour. I’m sure it’s just her hard schedule, but she looks so tired and washed out. This is not her best “from the neck up” look.

  • NNgela

looks like a four-year-old on christmas day. out.

  • Katrina Atienza

Her stylist couldn’t pick a red or pink or green shoe to go with that?!

  • jw_ny

Save the needle point for pillows on grandma’s sofa and rocker.

  • IN

  • Out! She looks like Anne of Green Gables carpet bag suitcase.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

The original model looks so much better.  It took me a minute to discover why.  The panel on the original model’s dress seems smaller and the lace is longer and more emphasized.  Like something you might wear to a garden party or an afternoon wedding.   This look just won’t work sewn this way for Emma to wear.  Also, why won’t she smile with her teeth showing?

  • mmc

OUT!  What she wears zigs zags.  Who is she?  No idea, but I’m weary of seeing her.

  • In! She looks a little Rachel McAdams-y, but she beats the model. Nice styling!

  • emilaweb

In. I am intoxicated by lace and flowers.

  • fungstyle

OUT. Yes, it’s interesting. But in an “christ, who told her she looked good in that?’ way.

  • Can we not with Emma stone? seriously! Ugh!

  • Noooo. This is all wrong. This hair color makes her look like a zombie. She’s so very beautiful, needs some color!

  • piecesofconfetti

    Oddly, I love it. IN

  • In. In. In. In. Wow.
