In or Out: Blake Lively in Gucci

Posted on June 28, 2012

T & Lo are at odds once again and it will be up to the Precious Unborn Fawns to come to a decision.

Blake Lively attends the premiere of “Savages” in New York City in a Gucci gown.

Lo says: “Time to stop being so proud of not having a stylist and hire one. I Don’t like the accessories and I HATE the fishtail braid. I feel that those earrings and bracelets are a bit too sporty looking for that gown. Nothing wrong with dressing down a garment, but a Gucci gown? After she’s been named the face of Gucci’s new fragrance? A little more chic next time, please.”

T says: “You’re just a jealous hater, drinking the haterade. Also, the gown is a beautiful color and the jewelry doesn’t necessarily clash, she’s just wearing way too much of it. I don’t mind a braid, but that one is gigantic. It’s not a bad look, all things considered (like her history of bad looks). In fact, with some jewelry editing and a slightly toned-down hairstyle, this could have been a WERQ candidate.”

And there you have it, minions. Choose your Daddy.

IN! Tom’s right! This all works just fine!

OUT! Lorenzo’s right! She fudged it on the details!

Y’all didn’t agree with us on Salma Hayek’s “armor & ponytail” look, voting it IN.

IN. She just needs to take all the bracelets off. And her hair is a little much, but I kind of like it. The dress is a gorgeous color and shape on her, and the earrings look great with her and it.

    • I like the punch of color in the turquoise jewelry – I just would have left the rest of her bangle collection on the dressing table.  In.

      • Yes, mostly just bland. I’m immensely

    • Wow, you already said everything. IN!

    • Isadora Paiva

Just to help the count later on and because I agree with everything you just said, IN.

ETA: one other minor quibble though: her concealer is a shade too light or her foundation is a shade to dark because she has these weird white circles around her eyes.

      • NCDFan

Her concealer probably has titanium dioxide in it to give some protection from the sun. It looks fine under normal lighting but is highly reflective with a flash or high intensity light.

  • unbornfawn

In 1974 this would have been a WERQ. Today it is just sort of bland and dated. a very weak IN.

    • MzzPants

      I was just gonna’ say!

    • Yes, mostly just bland. I’m immensely bored.

  • Lauren Dattilo

Can we also please discuss her spangled scrunchie? Oof.

  • Tuana Neves

I can’t see anything but the braid. That’s HUGE, gurl. Try again.

    • It looks fine from the front but from the back, OH MY GOD! How does she have SO much hair!

  • The only problems I have is with the GIGANTIC FISHTAIL BRAID (Yes, it had to be in CAPS) and the bracelets which DO look kinda too casual and sporty with the dress.

Anywho, besides that, she looks good. The dress is beautiful and fits her properly. The earrings are cute and the color goes really well with the yellow.

    • BazoDee

      THIS! IN.

  • Araina23

    In.  Pretty dress.

  • I’m going with IN, though it mystifies me, since she is on my “why is this person even famous?” list.  The only thing that bugs me is the turquoise jewelry.  Its all I can see. I pulls the focus far too much. The shape and color of the dress are perfect for her.  Oh, and as an aside, she REALLY needs to back away from the bronzer.

    • Agreed about the bronzer.  She’s bordering on looking like a cast member of one of the “Real Housewives” franchises.

      •  Easy way to go: if you can tell from 10 feet away someone is wearing bronzer, then its too much.  It pays to have an outside opinion on such things.

    • AlexisPayne

Ditto, I don’t mind the earrings but the bracelets are distracting, maybe a sleek ponytail instead of the braid? Overall a slight In.

      •  For me, the first pic, my first thought was, “TURQUOISE EARRINGS!!!!!!!” It was all I could see.

  • This looks almost exactly like a bridesmaid dress I once wore (with much more and much better cleavage). I like the colors going on and I actually like her hair too, but the bridesmaidy associations ruin it for me. My inner Blake Lively apologist is crying, but–OUT.

  • Its very 1970-something, and that hair braid is creepy.

    • It looks like something that’s going to wake up and start growling at people.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Team Tom this time!  Dress is gorgeous – love the color and fit on her.  I like the turquoise too.  It definitely says “summer red carpet” – so that’s a bonus.  The braid is kinda distracting.  But overall and IN for sure!

  • Neck down, I’m getting that familiar feeling in my waist down. Neck up is just silly with the pinterest braid and wrong earrings.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Pinterest braid!  Oh, you nailed that!!

    • Pinterest braid!  That made my day.

  • Wrenaria

  • halleygee

She looks like some sort of Disney princess.

    • Aladdin’s skanky piece on the side?

    • PinkLemon

yes, she does. my first thought was ‘belle’.

  • MelonTheCollie

OUT. Can’t stand the accessories, and the braid is frankly scary.

  • Allyson Wells

OUT My first thought was that the jewelry is completely wrong. Chunky wooden bangles with a Gucci gown? Don’t think so. And the braid is definitely too much for this look.  Maybe if you fixed all those things, she’d be an IN, but as they say – close only counts in horseshoes and grenades!

  • IN. She’s a goddess and she’s wearing a goddess gown – what’s the problem? It’s a beautiful yellow, and beautiful on her, but it’s the pop of turquoise in her jewelery that makes the look.

You come sit with me, Daddy T. We’ll have cookies and judgement on the veranda.

  • A return to form for Boobs Legsley. I like the outfit, but wish she hadn’t gone that far with the braid.

  • tereliz

I love the color turquoise with this gown, but I agree that the jewelry could be a bit more tasteful. HATE that ratty fishtail. And I generally like braids.

It’s a GOWN and she’s styling it like a DRESS. I understand the desire to dress it down a little, but why not go for broke?

  • EEKstl

I’m with Lo on this one.  The dress is lovely, but that’s where it ends for me.  Jewelry is ALL WRONG and her hair looks like an alien animal in a Sci Fi movie.  OUT.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I SO agree with this!  OUT.

  • Hate, just because of the hair, which is so terrible. Out!

  • Introspective

in with a small i. the effect is pretty, and the color is soft and gorgeous. but something about this look is still aging her a bit.

the accessories and hair are just wrong. the dress itself is quite nice but i would see it as more of a knockout on someone about 10 yrs older.

  • schadenfreudelicious

it’s all so very guest singer on Lawrence Welk circa 1973….OUT

    • FlamingJune1967

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Should we call her Sissy or Bobby?  🙂

      • schadenfreudelicious

sadly i recall both!!. Sissy methinks 🙂

  • j_anson

    IN. “Fine” is about right.

  • She looks lovely (duh), but the Supreme Court just ruled that her accessories make zero sense.

  • carolie_king

Not seeing it at all.  The fact that she’s beautiful is the only thing holding this look together.  OUT.

  • crash1212

IN. I love the turquoise jewelry with this gown. I love a good High-Low moment and I think she got this right. The hair was a good idea on paper, but that braid is just a wee bit too BIG…they were going in the right direction with the hair but must take a few points off for execution. All in all – Boobs Legsly did just fine.

  • MzzPants

I hate it when you make us choose our daddy.

    It’s kind of retro-fabulous.  IN.

  • IN, I really don’t have a quibble with her. I even like the bracelets!

  • Scimommy

I would totally vote IN, but… that fishtail… so gross… OUT.

  • IN: she looks a million times classier than normal (although way less FASHIONY).

  • Courtney Brown

  • rissa42210

First of all, who cares about this girl?  Second, meh.  The dress is pretty enough and she is rocking it, but it’s not interesting in any way.  I agree that the dress-down was poorly executed and that I’ve seen horse tails that look better than that braid.  Out because I don’t care about her and she doesn’t make me care about her.

  • IN. I agree that the jewelry makes the look more casual than the stunning gown warrants, but overall, she still looks fabulous. That dress was made for her body. Also, I like the weird braid.

  • mshesterp

IN!  I’m with Tom–with a few tweaks, I think it’d be a WERQ, and as is, I think she looks pretty awesome.  I love the shape and color of that dress on her, and the turquoise jewelry (just slightly less of it) is a great choice.  The hair is big…but even that kind of works!

  • This is a very boring dress.  Gucci, notwithstanding.  It looks like the last two designers duking it out in the bottom two on PR.  While not loving the bling, she needed something to edge it up.

  • Lilithcat

Actually, it’s pretty “meh” overall.  So much so that it’s neither good enough for an IN nor bad enough for an OUT.

  • IAmJ

I’ll sit with Daddy Lo, please. The gown is very pretty, but the braid is awful and the accessories straight-up tacky. OUT.

  • Sobaika

Hair and jewelry are seven layers of wrong. But you can’t put that dress on that body and have it be an Out.

    IN by genetic default.

  • CPK1

In. Less braid and jewels but in nonetheless. I’m with Daddy Tom on this one.

  • In.  I like everything except for the hair.

  • Laura Nugent

Out!  She ruined a beautiful gown.

  • Lina_bee

IN for the dress, which is gorgeous beyond words and deserves to be worn by someone who will WERQ the shit out of it. OUT for the styling, which is tackily juvenile. For anyone older than 12, that hideous braid plus TEN bracelets are a bridge too far.

  • SpcilK

I had some of Lo’s Kool Aid! Not feeling it.

  • leave_Blake_alone

IN. The bracelets are a little too much, but the earrings are great and the makeup is pretty much flawless. The ponytail is big but but not bad. Not a werq, but surely an in.

  • Aly Light

In, though I also hate the hair.

  • mom2ab

If I wanted to see a skinny spray tanned woman with fake boobs in an expensive dress and tacky jewelry I would go to my niece’s bat mitzvah.  You are a celebrity for gods sake you can do better- out.

  • In. I love the earrings with that gown, I love the gown, I hate the braid.

  • Team Lorenzo!  アオト!

And she’s the new face of Gucci’s new fragrance?  Ew, no.

  • Terence Ng

I can’t think of anything particularly wrong with it. IN, but in by default.

  • howdoilook

The hair sucks but I like the pop of turquoise. Kind of inspired. IN!

  • FlamingJune1967

I hate her hair.  I have a strong negative reaction to her earrings.  And I think the dress is totally boring.  OUT!

  • ThaliaMenninger

I love the dress and it looks great on her, but… The earrings look cheap and very casual, and that braid just defies explanation. I am giving her a very grudging IN.

  • AuntieAnonny

  • Joyce VG

IN.  She was born to wear that dress.  The color is gorgeous and the fit is amazing.  I like the ponytail because of the different “weave.”  The  jewelry is a bit New Mexico and casual but all I see is the dress.

  • Jellybish

GIRL. Please attend to your head suit. Out.

  • IN. The jewelry is way scattered and wayyyyy too much, but the hair is actually pretty stunning on her. And the dress is a personal best for her. It looks like she raided RuPaul’s wardrobe for inspiration… And it worked?!

  • VioletFem

IN for the dress and jewelry, altough she should have followed Coco Chanel’s advice and taken one piece extra bracelet off before going out. But, that hair is seriously freaking me out.

  • Le_Sigh

Hrm… a weak IN with the caveat that say if our diva-tastic JLo had been wearing this exact same look, I would been more enthusiastic about it.  Blake Lively’s brand of cray/fun is milquetoast at best.

    •  If JLo wore this she’d look like Tweety Bird going through a midlife crisis.

  • claudemtl777

The turquoise makes my eye twitch. I rarely think its a good choice. Other than that its an IN…I love me a yellow gown.
Lotsa Blake lively these days. If that’s what it take to stop the Emma Stone flood, I’ll take it.
At least, BL looks like shes enjoying herself.

  • OUT. the styling isn’t absolutely awful, but a dress that beautiful deserved better.

  • reddhouston

I say IN, I like it…even if it does look straight off a Pinterest “outfit” type of pin.

  • Snarky_Amber

Had she stuck with the one turquoise bracelet and the matching earrings, done away with the rest of the bangles, and actually done her hair rather than sleeping on a messy fishtail braid and calling it done, I’d say “WERQ”, but she didn’t, so I’m going with OUT-ish. I don’t want to say a hard OUT, because honestly, it’s an improvement for her.

  • I don’t know why she inspires so much hatred.  I just love her to death.  LOL.

  • The dress looks great on her, but everything else–the jewelry, the nail color, that braid–is bringing it down to an OUT.

  • hellkell

Here’s another one who looks like she’s 40 in her 20s. What is UP with her face? She looks rough.

  • ringthing

In. That dress looks great on her.

  • Call me Bee

That haterade is very tasty.  Again–a beautiful gown and she is wearing it…ok.  Would be better with more dressy jewelry, though I like the turquoise with this yellow. Would also be better if it weren’t draggin gthe sidewalk.
But–again she’s way over dressed for the occassion.  Seems too much for a mid-summer movie premier.
    Or–that’s just me.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

I like the turquoise/yellow combo, if she got her bracelet situation in check this  look would immediately be drastically improved. I also like the idea of that braid, but the reality is that it’s a gigantic, ratty-looking mess. An OUT, with potential.

Get the damn stylist already Blake. If you are so worried about losing your style, you pick the garments and let the stylist do the detailing but this is getting to the point whee it’s certainly hurting your career.

  • MinasAunt

OUT!  She always looks so “unfinished” to me.  Also, it may be that I think she has a “hard” look that makes her look older than she is and, as someone said yesterday, she really cheapens everything she puts on.

  • teensmom99

I’m with T–in, in, close to WERQ.  I like her 70s homage and I’d say the biggest problem is that she’s veering towards costumey–but it’s an IN.

  • janetjb

I don’t mind her bracelets, but the turquoise appears cheap with that beautiful dress.

Her hair is just too much.

  • PeggyOC

Can I give the gown an in, and the hideous, hideous hair an out?  It looks like she braided a broom and stuck it on the back of her head.

  • MilaXX

OUT she has a knack for taking a nice garment and making it look a bit Vegas hooker. The dress is lovely and accessorized correctly this could have been an IN. Not only is she wearing too much jewelry, she’s wearing the wrong jewelry. The turquoise doesn’t add a pop of color, it clashes. The bracelets are to much and too casual. The ponytail looks like it belongs on a horse’s rear. You have this soft, pretty dress, with all this hard accessories. It’s a mess. I’m with Lo on this one. Hire a stylist, or at least someone to consult with.

  • afabulous50

All I can think of is how dirty that dress is going to be after she’s done.  Braid too big, earrings & jewelry too much.  Dress fits but its too long….OUT

  • In.  I agree that she’s wearing too many bracelets, but overall her look works. That yellow dress is summery and beautiful on her, and the dress actually fits her (we’ve seen way too many examples of BL wearing clothing that’s too small for her). Yes, the fishtail braid is a bit much, but, hey, at least it’s not a sleek ponytail.

  • In, because the dress looks great on her, but I hate the jewelry and I’m not crazy about the hair.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Bad styling. BAD. Those turquoise earrings are like a goddamn red flag to an angry bull. That fishtail braid is HEINOUS. OUT.

  • I actually like the turquoise against the yellow, but would love to see several of the bracelets get left in the limo. The hair is shit-tastic. Seriously. That’s my housecleaning ‘do. Makeup is good, gown looks amazing on her.

I suppose I’ll live with Daddy Tom this week.

  • Ann

Love the dress, can tolerate the jewelry, but the braid has GOT TO GO!  Did they add 10 extra layers of extensions to make it so thick? It looks ridiculous!

  • call_me_schmeg

it looks like claire’s threw up on her arm. OUT.

  • MightyMarshal

She looks like a shit storm hit her. Out.

  • IN. Bitch has fabulous skin! WOW!

  • OUT. Bored, ponytail is hideous, bland, boob implants on display. Yawn, over it.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

OUT! THE BRAID!!! THE DRESS!!! Pleeeze…

  • Tigrrl

Oh no, no no no noooooooooooooooooooo! The hair is frightening, frankly. And those bracelets would look good with jeans. And although the dress could be pretty, but the rest of it is bringing it down. Team Lo! OUT.

  • Dot

Hate the stupid posey face. Those bracelets and that hair couldn’t possibly be a worse match for the dress. Just losing the bracelets would do wonders.

  • Saucysusan

The dress is a little pageanty. The jewelry is too heavy for the dress. It calls for something translucent & sparkly. The hair is awful. She doesn’t look bad, though. The color of the dress is beautiful. A weak in.

    • amf0001

it’s not letting me click like so I am writing to say I 100% agree with you.

  • In_Stitches

I’ve always agreed with Tom…until now.  Lo is spot on, to a T.

  • Sara__B

IN. That yellow gown is gorgeous on her. True, she’s wearing too many bangles and a humongous braid, but she still looks lovely.

  • Tamara Hogan

Gah, someone let me know when she’s done promoting whatever movie she’s promoting. Tired now.

  • Out. The dress is pretty but uninspiring, the jewelry takes too much emphasis from the dress, and I hate that braid with the fire of a thousand burning wigs.

  • Gorengirl

IN, I think she looks great!

  • IN, except the hair…and maybe lose a couple of bracelets.

  • amywinns

I’m with Daddy Tom… I think it’s an interesting high-low mix. The occasion is a hot day in the grimy city surrounded by chaos and grit, yet she looks very fresh and summery. It’s not awesome, but I’ll give it an In.

  • cleep1000

  • butterflysunita

OUT.  The turquoise earrings are just wrong and cheapen the whole look.

  • Charmella…a DIVA at large!

OUT…Looks like a bridesmaid at an outdoor summer wedding at the club.

  • mjude

IN, at least it isnt velvet. i dont care for the jewelry

  • Klocked

Out. I hate this. She’s managed to make a Gucci gown look like a cheap prom dress.

  • momogus

    IN. She’s got sort of a 70’s country-club vibe that I’m digging.

  • piecesofconfetti

  • OUT.

  • Beardslee

I’m with Tom.  The braid looks like a cross between a loaf of bread and a feather and she is wearing too many bracelets but that dress is great and I like the turquoise jewelry,

  • TheOriginalLulu

I hate the hair and the accessorizing, but it’s a beautiful dress that looks beautiful on her. She gets an in, but she could have done better. Agree with Lo that the overall look should have been more chic and polished.

  • PinkLemon

  • Lauren Bradshaw

    Tom is my new daddy…

  • NurseEllen

Who’s my daddy?  Lo, fo’ sho’.  She is OUT.
(Although I do wish I could do that with my hair, it would be great for “an entrance” at some party.)

  • Out. That hair is horrendous, and her skin is clashing with her dress. For heavens sake, blonde starlets, you don’t need to be orange to be loved.

  • stagmania

OUT. That dress just screams “bridesmaid” to me.

  • In i like it, very pretty

  • I actually like this look on her. IN.

  • Yosa Addiss

Wow the ROOTS.  I have been hoping for the massive visible roots trend to go away for aaaages.  Please let that someday be embarassing.

That said- I kind of like it- it is getting talked about, and her figure looks fantastic.  Job done!

  • hillmad

That hair is so …yikes! The dark roots around her face, the scrunchy (!) and that ridiculous (although probably incredibly difficult and  time consuming) fishtail braid! And the bracelets…she looks like a little girl putting on all of mommy’s old bracelets at once!  The dress is beautiful and does fit her perfectly, but the color is really reminding me of the 70s. Oh, and the spray-on tan… The whole thing is just so suburban prom queen!

  • Christine Marie

    Mech. No, plz

  • Carrie Levin

I’m with T.  Pretty dress in a lovely color.

  • Lisa Dugan

In.  I love the dress and the turquoise with it.  I would have left all the other bracelets off and toned down the hair a bit.  The ponytail is nice and shows off the dress well but the fishtail belongs on a shark; too big.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

OUT I’m with Lo and I’m drinking the Haterade.  Her braid looks like a fuzzy, sad, rope.  I hate turquoise unless you are a) in New Mexico b) on a horse c) wearing jeans and d) are Native American.  OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT.

  • She looks good enough. So I say IN!

  • I’m with Tom (again). This could have been better, but it really is a pretty great look; it just needed a few tweaks. IN.

  • YourLibrarian

That hair looks seriously damaged on the ends. Girl needs a trim.

  • Amy

Tom- you read my mind, especially on the jewelry critique. I will say that Lo is right, it could be stunning and classy sans jewelry, but in the end she still looks close to werqable territory!

  • I’m with with Lo on this one.  She needs a stylist to help her get the details right.

  • Those bracelets, that braid. Ugh. OUT.

  • team lorenzo here.  the hair is awful, and i usually love a braid.  i hate the way her hair is so many different colors:  almost black from the roots to the pony holder that multiple shades of orange and yellow.  the braid is hugely out of proportion.  while i love the dress color, it would have fit right in at the 1966 prom at burbank high school.  love the turquoise jewelry though.

  • in. I like the braid actually. The bracelets were a bad idea, but my biggest critique is that the dress, while pretty, is kind of boring. Still, a nice color and I like the earrings.

  • marilyn

In, but just barely.  The earrings and jewelry are wrong.  They are much to casual for this dress.  That being said, she looks great in the dress, and her hair is fine.  She just needed to follow one trend:  Either Hippie southwestern casual (without the dress) or goddes-like with a modern twist (the dress color), but with better jewelry.  This look should call for diamonds (maybe yellow diamond earrings and a platinum/diamond bracelet).  She needs to pick a look and stick with it.

  • Tom’s right. She didn’t need any of the bracelets, but the dress is fabulous, and the earrings would work by themselves. Just take the braid off the shoulder and she’s golden. In!

  • Liz

  • Loving everything except the infomercial hairdo.

  • The hair reminds me of high school. Not in a good way. OUT.

  • Maluca

This is the best she’s looked in a good long while. But take some bracelets off.

  • Ceur

Sad braid, too many random bangles and too much fake boobs on display. Out!

  • Whatever Blake Lively wears, she always looks like somebody’s trashy trophy wife.  I just can’t stand her or her overdone outfits.

  • Melissa Brogan

In. Her hair doesn’t look as nice as it could (seems a little fried actually), and that is entirely too much jewelry. But she looks pretty good here.

  • demidaemon

I find this just, well, boring. It’s pretty, but that’s it. Therefore, it come down to details, which she gloriously screwed up. OUT.

  • Her hair is really quite ridiculous.  I don’t mind the turquoise earrings, but the rest is too much.  I had a nightgown that looked just like that in 1979.

  • AthenaJ

That braid looks like one of those long braided soft pretzels… except made of hair. Ew.

Agreed her accessories are all over the place and the look is generally confused. Love the dress though, so I might be willing to forgive her. She gets a lowercase in.

  • KaileeM

    Preach it, Lo!

  • meowing

Out.  The braid looks like 1,000 overdone hair-styles from Pinterest, and the dress is dragging on the filthy sidewalks.  Jewelery is not only too much, but looks chip in a chip way.  The color, however, is lovely on her, and I like the low key makeup.

  • TomBord

oh no not horse-tail hair……. pls pls pls no no no !! …..bad girls club here it comes!

  • mozzer0906

Gown is lovely, but the hair doesn’t fit with it AT ALL.  The bracelets are also too much.  I will say this does make her dirty pillows look fabulous, so she gets an IN.

  • IN. The bracelets are too much but the dress is really pretty and I actually like the braid.

  • Team Lo.  It’s her constant inability to get the details right that screams GET A DAMN STYLIST ALREADY.  (Well, that and her continued refusal to put the boobs away, ever)

  • lojoso

    Lo’s my daddy!

  • Larkin21

Not usually her biggest fan but I even like the braid and jewelry. IN!

  • SummerSquash

OUT. That braid alone buries this beautiful gown deeply in Out territory.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Even though I LOATHE fishtail braids with the fire of a thousand suns and think I can faintly hear all those bangles from several states away, I give it an overall IN. Just please, with the braid – ew. Let that shit out.

  • In. Team Tom for the win.

  • IN, but love you both, TLo

  • IN for me; I was thinking “Oooh, pretty,” before I got to the commentary. And I rather like the slightly-fuzzy pigtail, especially in the first couple of shots, where I thought it was some kind of feathery accessory.

  • trisker

Completely out.  Hem is too long, jewelry is wrong, and braid is HIDEOUS.  Only good thing is the colors.

  • sashaychante

IN..LUV this dress on her.  I agree that bracelets need to go, but don’t mind the earrings.

  • Cathy S

IN. I hate the hair and she could tone down the jewelry a little (but I love the turquoise with  that yellow) and she looks fabulous.

  • Lizzyisi

Out. That yellow makes her look sallow and she looks like Mrs. Roper on the Love Boat, albeit a *young* Mrs. Roper on the Love Boat.

  • I’m with Lo, OUT. Those bracelets look ridiculous with that dress. I also don’t think the halter is quite working on her. Just overall, meh, I don’t like it.

  • SneakyKitty

Goin’ with Papa Lo on this one.  It’s so close to an in– I WANT to like it, the parts all look nice in theory, but in practice it just doesn’t work.

  • sherrietee

The fishtail braid looks like a mono-dread.  No.  Out.  Out.  Out.

  • CassieLee22

I love with dress, but I’m not loving it on her, so I’m with Lo OUT

  • Indovina

I am not sure why she inspires what hatred she does (not from T or Lo, mind), but then, I barely know who she is.

As a general rule, I find Gucci tacky – I fear I may never not associate it with people who buy it just because it’s Gucci. I blame High School. I’m getting better.

The colour’s nice and a bit unusual, but the jewelry does seems a little odd with the dress and the hair is strange (though I am kind of fascinated by it). Overall, it’s more boring than anything else.

It’s not half bad. It’s not half good, either.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Out — love the dress, don’t mind the braid, hate the jewelry and am pretty tired of Ms. Lively….no matter what Anna Wintour says.

  • lill5

In. I think the yellow is very pretty and I like the hair.

  • Jangle57

Dress is gorgeous, accessories and hair are not – given that I don’t much like her, that’s enough make it a NO for me

  • While I hate to take sides, for this look, Lo’s my daddy!

  • another_laura

I’m torn.  Both daddys are correct.  But I’ll go with an IN because she does wear this color well and the halter suits her body.

  • librarygrrl64

A mild in. Love the color and silhouette on her, love the *idea* of turquoise jewelry with it. Hate the braid.

  • Out. She’s such a column of washedoutblah that those earrings, while adorable, look like they’re neon dots floating in midair at a rave.

Speaking of raves, the last one I went to was in 1997, which was also the last time I saw anyone wear a fishtail.

  • Vlasta Bubinka

Holy Banana Clips, Batman! My friend looked almost EXACTLY like this at her prom in 1987.

  • elleg929

Hair and dress color are hiddy.  Hi Daddy Lo!

  • Time for a root touchup and Blake should’ve taken off a couple hundred bracelets before she left the house.  Braid too frizzy & flat.  Like the dress but not that color on her.  [leaves to get a refill of haterade]

  • kelsita421

maybe it’s just her being her, but for some reason just no. OUT.

  • I’m a little shocked by how bad the zipper closing looks in the back of this Gucci dress. Of course I noticed that after I ripped my eyeballs away from the Crissy hair doll mess coming off the top of her head. No, no, and no!

  • I like it, IN

  • jw_ny

That “fish tail” on her head is really quite obnoxious.  I don’t think the accessories go with the gown, nor the hair.  (can’t think of anything that’d go with that hair…’cept perhaps a mermaid tail)

  • Tea

Out! Lorenzo is right, and he’s even being nice about it. Or not as mean as he could be…

  • I’m with T on this one, this is summery and fresh. Not perfect, but not bad. The hair has to go though. IN.

  • jennifervney

In. The yellow is very pretty, she has only boobs out, not boobs AND legs as per usual, and I love the way the jewelry pops against the dress. I don’t love the braid, but I like the freshness of the ponytail. Baby steps!

  • Abigail Speltz

Oh, T… That was damning with the faintest of praise. “Well, it’s not horrible or COMPLETELY ridiculous.” Her roots are terrible, and the only thing she has other than hair and jewelry is her makeup, which seems mediocre at best. 0.5/3 just doesn’t do it for me.

  • PaulaBerman

I give it an IN, but agree with Lo that the hair is bad and she needed to lose most of the bangles. Still, not enough to ruin it for me.

  • formerlyAnon

In, but I really agree with you both, it’s a just-squeaked-by kind of in.  I think the wood/tortoise shell/?? bracelets could have been skipped, but the hair is the real issue.

Nothing wrong with the braid, but unless she’s been playing volleyball for several hours, that braid should have been braided sleek and STAYED sleek, and the end either tucked up and into the braid or had some kind of ornament that matches her jewelry on it. The elastic is showing for gosh sakes. With a Gucci gown!

I had long hair for 30 years, wore it mostly in some kind of braid/up-do for 20+ of those years. I NEVER wore something that scraggly looking, much less to go with a gorgeous formal gown.

If she paid someone to do that braid, she needs somebody new. If she did it, she needs someone new.

  • This gal cheapens everything she puts on. Leave it to Blake Lively to make couture look like it came from the mall.

  • BobStPaul

In.  Not an emphatic in but an in nonetheless.

  • In.

  • AngelaGreen

IN.  But I love both my Gay Daddies.

  • guest2visits

O my. I like the new style of braid she’s wearing.  And I like turquoise as the accent, but these pieces of jewelry are not the
ones I would have chosen;  – the jewelry needs a bit more sophistication to match the dress.
The clasp or band at the top securing her braid needs to be in line with the nicer jewelry.

  • SapphoPoet

I like the gown and the turquoise jewelry, although I think the turquoise would work better if the stones were uniform shapes and not irregular chunky stones. The boho jewelry doesn’t go with the classic silhouette of the dress. Still, props for trying. A conditional, lowercase in.

  • golspie

The face, the dress and the posture are fine. It’s just the hairdo that runs the lot. it looks like the prehensile tail of the monster from ‘Alien’.

  • *Sobbing hysterically*  But, Daddies, I CAN’T choose!  Please don’t make me!  I love you both!  *More sobbing*

Could we just not have any more Boobs McLegsly pictures until you two work it out?  *Going out to buy more Kleenex*

  • In. Gotta agree with Tom on this one. Sorry, L.

  • IN. I’m with tom. Though the braid is HUGE.

  • melanie0866

My problem is with the dress.  It’s very similar to one I wore as a bridesmaid in my sister’s wedding in 1982.  Later, my grandmother made a Barbie lamp out of it.

  • ChelseaNH

Those earrings practically glow in the dark.  Sorry, T, I have to vote OUT.  (Although it is a really nice dress on her.)

  • Toto Maya

Ugh. I didn’t see what she was wearing, the only think I can see are her giant roots. She looks like she hasn’t washed her hair.

  • A HUGE IN from me. She looks amazing, the color is fantastic on her, the earrings are gorgeous (also fun that the turquoise in them is uneven shape). Her waist is TINY, her boobs are in check and I don’t mind her braid.

  • rumcg66

OUT. Yes, this one fell on the details, but she REALLY REALLY f*cked up the details a lot here. It just ruins the whole look for me.

  • O-U-T terrible!

  • phrenk

The shape of the dress is all right on her; the color of the dress is beautiful; the hair ruins everything.  OUT.

  • I Iove this look, and coming from someone who HATES Blake Lively’s appeaacy

  • Daddy Tom is right. I love yellow/turquoise.  It’s chic as hell in the summer against a tan.

  • Out. That color looks awful against her tan, and she would have looked much more elegant with a different hairstyle. Also, her eyes are disappearing into her face; thus, different makeup is required.

  • JuliaInBlack

Just a weird combination of… everything, although they are all mostly cute things.  Somehow they combined/transformed and made a Young Blanche Devereaux.  OUT

  • IN.  She looks grecian with that hair.  The color, the dress, the ponytail are all very pretty.  While the jewelry/bangles are just ‘eh’.  Probably too many and too many that clash.

But overall it’s an IN.  Sorry Lo, gotta go w/Tom.

  • More than out. The dress is so ordinary I can’t even stand it. Every styling choice made was the wrong one.

  • annrr

I have to go with Tom,. The braid would have looked tons better if her roots and the ends matched. And minus a cpl bracelets.

  • CarolinLA

I wish my boobs pointed up…(sigh)…

  • granddelusion

Ho hum. So boring it’s out.

  • shopgirl716

    Team T.  For the win.

  •  Out, That gown properly accessorized with the right (as in polished) makeup and hair belongs at a more formal event.  She should have picked something else Gucci, a bit more dressed down.  And damn, girlfriend must hire some gays.  She comes off looking worse than people who do have professional stylists, and that cannot be good career wise.

As someone with hip-length hair I can tell you that a fishtail braid needs to be sleek and smooth to work with a classically-styled goddess gown like this one.  The messy fishtail is more beach hair than RC hair, as are the bracelets.

I like the colors on her though.

  • lrhoff

    I’m with Lo……respect the Gucci.

  • IN. I like it. Even the hair.

  • ConnieBV

In. I actually like a fishtail braid, just wish she had kept it looser and lower on her head. Love the color, and let’s face it-she should show off those perfect breasts while she still can.

  • Warrior89

In.  I like the color, like the earrings, covet the boobs.

  • TSkot

This works way more than fine. WAY IN

  • Liverpoolgirl

    Out house

  • julnyes

I’m agreeing with Lo here – OUT!

  • SophieCollier

IN.  Except for the dumb hairstyle (sleek ponytail!) she looks really good.  Tan, healthy and chic.  I even like the piles of jewelry.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

IN. The color is gorgeous on her;just lose the big earrings and tone down the bracelets.

And a humble thanks to our daddies for having confidence in your Precious Unborn Fawns! MWWWAAHHH!!!!

  • AWS

    Malibu Barbie LIVES!

  • Emily Roach

  • LambeeBaby

The dress is beautiful. The color is splendid on her. Hair is hiddy and jewelry is too clunky. But the turquoise color is a nice contrast. Its a draw.

  • elzatelzabelz

In(ish)- I like the dress, but the hair is doofy.

  • Straddling here.  I’m totally with Team Lo’s assessment, but mostly, I find it boring.  She really needs to take off a few bracelets too.  A weak in.

  • In! I ditto every word, Tom!

  • frankystein123

Just barely IN for me, I love the dress, but the gigantic braid and weaponized right arm are both turn-offs.

  • bellafigura1

Haters gonna hate. IN.  Change nothing. Beautiful, timeless perfection.

  • Bailey Debruynkops

out, those bracelets look stupid and i don’t understand why the very end of her hair looks like that.

    • formerlyAnon

“i don’t understand why the very end of her hair looks like that.”
      1) Laziness
      2) INCREDIBLE ineptitude.

  • aristida_girl

    IN, I like it!

  • gabbilevy

Sorry, T, I’m with Lo on this one. Don’t love the dress on her and HATEHATEHATE the hair. This whole look is very “Barbie” to me–not the hyper-matchy version, but the one where the girl puts all her favorite pieces on her well-worn doll whether or not they match. Solid dress, pop-on earrings, too many bracelets, and ratty hair.

    • Candigirl1968

Ditto.  And not Barbie in the good “I did it on purpose because I am kitschy” Katy Perry kind of way.

  • kikisayshi

I’m with T on this one. I don’t love the hair but overall it’s IN. Love the sunny color of that gorgeous dress!

  • up with pod people

In! The buttery yellow is glorious with her colouring and the turquoise is a totally inspired contrast choice. I don’t give a toss about the braid.

  • MemHey

Out. Confusing hair – both sleek and ratty?

  • Maybe it’s just because I’m a bottle blonde, too, but all I can see in these recent photos of her are her roots!  Such terrible roots!  I can’t believe you could sit with a hairdresser while they do THAT to your hair and not just touch up your GD roots.  Girl, you are famous and in a for realz movie.  Class it up.  Oh, and I agree with Lorenzo.  Out! And get a new hair gay.

  • understateddiva

Gotta side with T.  You werq that Marilyn Monroe sex kitten shit, girl!

  • I wore this exact dress to my high school prom, except it was pink….in 1982.  This chick annoys me.

  • OUT. I hate the hair. At the risk of rehashing the Salma Hayek debate, a sleek pony tail would have been better. I’ll agree that the jewellery doesn’t really clash, she’s just wearing too much of it. That said, something about the gown makes her look preggers.

  • A little too “Real Housewives of Miami” for me. OUT

  • Out for that fugly hair color job.

  • I’m with Lo in that I think there’s too much jewelry and really bad hair, but I’m with T in that I think the dress is damn near perfect and such a couldabin. I’m of two minds, but it’s coming down to IN because she looks so demure (for Blake) and her makeup is fabulous.

  • Rebecca Jay

Her hair looks dirty in the front and fried in the tail.  But she’s so pretty and it’s a beautiful dress.

  • RzYoung

I’m with T, I like this look. IN. That colour is just lush I can ignore all the rest.

  • In!!!

  • IN – Team Tom for this one. It’s fun, flirty, and summery. I think she looks good.

  • BayTampaBay

IN but just OK.  This is nothing fabulous.

  • Sorry, Lorenzo, but I agree with Tom on every point.  Except maybe the haterade, business.  That’s not really my milieu.  In.

  • OUT.  The only thing I like about this is the earrings.

  • sagecreek

OUT. And the  whole spray-on tan look is tired.

  • Chelsey Lauer

Out! She’s a tennis star trying to do glam.

  • JennaMarieS

IN. It’s not a werq, but from the front, the braid looks sort of cute! I wish she’d only had half the bracelets though!

  • aimee_parrott

This is a middling IN for me.  The color suits her, I like the pop of turquoise but disapprove of the actual jewelry, and I HAAAATE that braid.

  • IN. Love the color on her. Don’t love the hair, but the rest of the styling is fine.

  • clairellis

In. In. In. My love for her knows no bounds. Maybe too many bracelets but still. I have a huge lady crush. Huge.

  • I can’t get over that hair!  It looks exactly like a braid my daughter did in a horse’s tail before a competition.  That is too distracting for me to give this an in.  I just keep hearing “It’s not right, it’s not fair, give that horsey back its hair”… Apparently I took my b***h pills this morning, lol

  • altalinda

Overall, she looks good, so in.  I like the braid, but hate the *bright!* blue earrings.

  • Caaro3

I’m with Lo.  OUT.  Pretty dress, VERY creepy hair.

  • Kristy Evans

I’m with Daddy Lo on this one – gown is GORGEOUS, accessories and styling are awful.

  • In! It looks incredibly well on her, even if the braid is a little out of control and I could’ve done with just the one turquoise bracelet.

  • CatherineRhodes

    OUT. Team Lo.

  • OUT.  Prom dress.

  • I know it’s too late to vote, but I think she looks a bit like Jeannie (of I Dream of….) going to a fancy ball with her major.

  • I’m pretty sure I saw this costume, I mean outfit, in an episode of the original Star Trek, right down to the giant braid and ugly jewelry.

  • Mirakel9

Daddy Lo for the win! Pretty dress, but hair is hideous, bracelets are tacky (as is hair), and the earrings??? Ugh.

  • LilyPad

Out. But I happen to hate that dress on her. 10 points for the pap in the tiger shirt behind her in the last photo though

  • ccm800
