Eva Mendes in L.A.

Posted on June 20, 2012

It’s all about the gals on the street today, for some reason. We’re bored with red carpets at the moment.

Eva Mendes picks up some flowers in LA carrying a Ralph Lauren bag.

Ralph Lauren Covered Lock Cartridge Bag

Is it us or does she consistently dress better when she’s not hanging around the Gosling? Miss Lady is looking very ladylike here. But not in a princess-perfect kinda way. In fact, with the exception of the megaheels, this look has a nice low-key, daytime chic to it. The cute, practical bun keeps the whole look from veering into Betty Draper territory. We almost wish she was wearing a cute pair of flats or sandals instead of the killer heels. Love that bag.

The cut and the fit are very chic and flattering.

so maybe yr not giving yrself enough credit?..DemoforFrank.blogspot.com

  • Sobaika

I am pretty much wearing the exact same outfit, minus the shades and with t-strap flat sandals. My bag is white and not brown. Did I win?? Am I chic?

Keep in mind my body is nowhere near as flawless so on me it looks pretty dumpy.

    • Deb_Lynn

you win. hands down. chic, pretty, summery, fitting :)

    • holdmewhileimnaked

you look pretty in yr photograph so maybe yr not giving yrself enough credit?

      • Sobaika

Awww, shucks :) Thanks to you and all the fellow Bitter Kittens!

    • Rand Ortega

Sobaika of the beautiful name, there’s no doubt your countenance matches. Your photo is proof.
Re: Eva– everything is wonderfully daytime chic except the hair– far too yoga class for the ensemble.

    • charlotte

I’d wear this dress. So yeah, you’re chic in my opinion.

    • Lisa

You know what?  I find Eva Mendes boring and talentless.  YOU, on the other hand, are a Bitter Kitten, which automatically boosts you into the FABULOUS category!  Therefore, I can come to no other conclusion than the fact that YOU are probably rocking this dress better than Eva!  You are CHIC!

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

hey- you can look chic with any body type.  it’s all in the attitude.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

    The bag is wonderfully practical.

    • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

If I had 3000 dollars I would give them all for that bag. But I don’t. Sigh. It is absolutely the bag I’ve been looking for.

  • http://twitter.com/grooxcore Marie Ee

I love the way the bag and shoes subtly pick up on each other, and the sassy lil pop of colour delivered by the shades. she should get rid of gosling if this is what she dresses like without him!

    Sick. Of. Platforms.

    • lamamu

Especially in a daytime/errand running context. Platform heels + hastily assembled topknot = bewildered crease between my brows

  • Larkin21

    Very cute!

  • http://twitter.com/starlounging Ann M. Erickson

Agreed on the shoes. You’re running errands and it is summer, relax! I want to know where she got the dress. Also I totally bite my lip like that when I’m walking and thinking.

  • another_laura

It is not you.  It appears that The Gosling has a distinctly negative effect on her style!

  • Judy_S

She looks great. That bag is my kind of bag. Also on the plus side, it looks as if she is using it, not just “carrying” it like a walking billboard.

  • crash1212

I have shoes similar to those and they’re actually way more comfy than flats. I hate flats and find them exceedingly uncomfortable. I love this outfit – heels and all.

    • MilaXX

I can’t do the flats that have no support. I look for the ones with an arch support. And/or a little built in heel inside.

  • TieDye64

Cute and chic. I’d wear this in a heartbeat if I could look half that good in it. sigh. Really don’t like the shoes at all. I find myself saying that a lot. Flats or sandals would have been perfect.

  • http://twitter.com/stellaphone Stella Zawistowski

Love this look. And I do NOT sign off on platforms 99% of the time.

  • Sweetvegan

That expression on her face is like, “Great, papparazzi. Gotta walk as fast as I can and get out of here.” Nice dress – that print has a nice retro 70s feel to it!

  • kimmeister

I’m on board with everything but the sunglasses.

    • amywinns

Hate ‘em generally, but extra hate ‘em with the rest of this.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

    I like it

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It’s a perfect “running errands around town and then grab lunch with the girls” kind of look. LOVE IT.

  • teensmom99

You took the words out of my mouth (you’ve trained me well).  Great look until I scrolled down to the shoes and they aren’t terrible either.

  • http://twitter.com/sillytwigg twigg

I think she looks cute. And I’m jealous that a $3,000 bag is her “running errands” bag.

  • Lina_bee

Cute! But she’s biting her lip like she’s psyching herself up to go all ninja on the paps to get where she’s going. (I’d actually pay to see that.)

    • MilaXX

Google Alec Baldwin , apparently he had a ninja moment with the paps

  • http://www.facebook.com/AdriannaGrezak Adrianna Grężak

When will those platform heels go out of style? The proportions are so awful! What is lady-like about footwear inspired by strippers?

  • joe_tey83

Maybe she’s trying to divert attention by dressing badly when she’s out with The Gosling?

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i really like those shoes– cos why? cos theyre not gonna hurt that much to wear. thats why she’s striding instead of walking kinda slow.
yeah, i do think she looks better sans her pal–& i have no interest in her pal, so bias is not the reason. i dunno what it is, but this is the best she’s looked in a while.

  • MilaXX

Cute look & some flats or even wedges would be perfect with this look.

  • marilyn

She isnt wearing any makeup and red hair does not become her.  Where is the scrunchee for her hair?  I am surprised you recognized her, because she looks like a very plain housewife in very expensive clothes out on an errand.  Yikes.

  • http://twitter.com/jessicapippin Jessica Pippin

It’s cute. Love the bag. But there’s just something about her that rubs me the wrong way.

  • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

    Love the dress.

  • Violina23

Love the outfit, and j’adore the bag!

  • http://profiles.google.com/jenlindsey Jen L.

LOVE the bag. So I click the link, how expensive could it possibly be? Mayhaps it could be mine?

    WRONG. $2950.00!!!!!!!!!!! Dying of sadness.

    • Aurumgirl

So the bag is 3000 dollars.  It’s not a unique look, you can get a very well made leather purse in almost exactly the same style (or with minor variations) just about anywhere good leather goods are sold, Ralph Lauren just copied “his” design from the classic one,  and your high quality bag will be just as chic and good but a lot less expensive. Never forget that people with a lot of money and celebrity get this stuff free of charge, so that others with more money than brains will be made to feel that they should want to spend a lot more than what would be considered rational for everything they buy.

      • http://profiles.google.com/jenlindsey Jen L.

I’m sure I could find one like it – I just have a hard time understanding why it’s $3000. It was just a shock!

    • Sobaika

I have a very similar Michael Kors bag at around $300. And I’m positive you can find it cheaper.

  • giiiirrrr

I love the dress, but I think this is a case of Girl, That’s Not Your Neckline.  Eva has gorgeous shoulders that are looking a little linebacker-y here.  Also, the hem should hit just above or just below the knee.  The shoes, not ever.

  • fursa_saida

I love it when she serves up the midcentury rich Cuban housewife look. I remember seeing her on some talk show talking about how much her mother’s style of dressing influenced her, and I found it really endearing.

  • Cat_In_A_Hat

Love it. I want to dress like that everyday.

  • CassieLee22

    Adorable

  • Lisa Dugan

Summery, lovely, fits her like a dream.

  • http://www.myblackfriendsays.com myblackfriendsays

I actually like the gal on the street posts. much more doable for a regular joe like me than the RC looks.

  • guest2visits

She’s looking very pretty; and i love that bag too.

  • RzYoung

Not really feeling the colours on this one

  • aimee_parrott

Love the dress, shades & bag.  The hair is meh.  The shoes have gotta go, but on the whole, I think it’s a pretty chic look.

  • Susan Crawford

Great dress! And I desperately covet that bag. Not sure about those shoes, but she looks stylish and put together, unlike so many stars (they’re just like US!) running around in ragged cut-offs and stretched out tees and flip flops. Go Eva!

  • mhleta

I agree 100% on this. Love the shoes from the front, but not so much from the side.

  • Allison Woods

Love the dress, hate the shoes.

Happy to say I don’t really know who she is or what she does outside of the Bitter Kitten world.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Love that dress – it looks fantastic on her!  I hate the shoes, but that’s just me.  Purse is beautiful.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

these photos are not very flattering to her, of course she is bare faced.  but her body is slammin’.
