Emma Stone in Chanel at the L.A. Spider-Man Premiere

Posted on June 29, 2012

From now until the Spider-movie opens nationwide, this blog will be renamed “Fuck Yeah Emma Stone.”  We will be uploading a new banner shortly. All registered commenters will have to change their username to something with the words “Emma” or “Stone” in it; both if you’re feeling ambitious about it. You will no longer be addressed as “kittens,” “darlings,” or “Precious Unborn Fawns.” Instead, you will all refer to yourself as “Emmas,” or “Stoneys.”

Emma Stone attends the premiere of “The Amazing Spider-Man” in Los Angeles in a Chanel dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps and Cartier jewelry.

Stoneys, what do we all think of this? We’ll tell you one thing: we think those damn Louboutins need to be burned and any stylist who even reaches for a pair should have their wrists viciously slapped. Does no one realize that they make the wearer look like they have spikes growing out of their toes? Or that no matter how well they fit, they always look like they’re way too small for the wearer?

In another bout of air-conditioning-based inertia, we found ourselves sprawled on the couch recently, watching Crazy, Stupid, Love (which was pretty good by the way, with some genuinely funny scenes) and she’s radiant in it. The scene where (spoiler, but come on) she and Gosling fall in love? WE fell in love – and not with the shirtless guy with perfect abs. Why are we bringing this up? Because she was so luminous and wide-eyed and beautiful in the film that every time we see her made up on the RC, we can’t help but go straight to the makeup, which has not been serving her well. Whoever’s doing her up on this tour doesn’t know how to make up her eyes and she always looks like she woke up 3 minutes ago. Her hair looks great, though. Love the diamond brooch; very sort of sweetly romantic.

As for the dress, it’s striking, head-turning, and still in that sweetly romantic mode, which she pulls off surprisingly well. Sure, that skirt’s a little weird, but it doesn’t detract from anything. To our eyes, despite the quibbles with shoes and makeup, this is one of her best looks so far on the Spidey-tour.

  • Train wreck of a dress. I don’t care if it is the product of Uncle Carl’s fevered brain.  Its wildly unflattering, even on the model, and does Ems no favors whatever.
(my handle is forthwith: KiltdnStonied, jus’ so’s ya know.

    • G

Couldn’t agree with you more.  Hate the dress.  (And the shoes.  And the eye makeup.)  Hair just okay.

      •  She is quickly finding a place next to her BF, on my irrational hate list for this sort of thing.  lol

      • that I love it because I really don’t, but that it looks extremely uncomfortable. ..FoxGetPositionWork.blogspot.com

    • I’ll change mine to Cindi Williamstone. Or change my twitter from “ILikeShiny” to “ILikeStoney”

      • Leah Elzinga

    • PaulaBerman

I agree with you. I hate the dress and I don’t think it’s remotely her best look on this pole dance tour. My new user name is Emma’s Stoned, btw.

      • JosephLamour

        What. an uggo dress. Blah.

      •  The way the dress is pulling under the sleeves is distractingly bad.  The 3D decoration, which of itself is interesting, creates the effect on her of flattening her torso, and spreading it out so that she looks like a rectangle.
        Nice ta meet cha, ES.

        • Seriously, what young lady wants to look an overly wide block of supermarket cake?

          •  That’s IT!!!!  She looks like a  sheet cake from cake disasters!

    • j_anson

    • MilaXX

Agreed, twee & not in a good way.

    • Completely agree. Wildly bad. Definitely will put her on year end worst dressed lists.

TLo, y’alls smoking something this morning!

    • Flooby

Thank you- my first thought was “well, how’s it supposed to fit?  Let’s look at the model.”  Uh, now I know?

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

That dress is just twee as fuck.  HATE those shoes – can you imagine how sweaty one’s feet would get in plastic??  Her makeup is horrid, too.  I covet that diamond brooch in her hair, however.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I don’t care if it does have a Chanel lable on it-the skirt is just fug.

    • Lisa

I totally agree.  It’s bad enough the dress is just so twee, but then it’s sprinkled with those things that look like rose petals (or whatever the hell they are).  Let’s all remember that in season one of Project Runway, Nora was eliminated for making a wedding dress that looked like that (although it was shorter)!

And now I finally get the “Emmas” thing – I read the Stacy Keibler post first and thought “Huh?”  (LOL!)

  • I love that dress, and I think she looks beautiful in it. However, it can’t be anything but supremely uncomfortable. I feel you, Emma. Soon your Spidey pole-dance will be over and you can start the one with The Gos.

    • AnaRoW

That was my first thought. Not that I love it because I really don’t, but that it looks extremely uncomfortable.

    • I need more Ryan Gosling pictures in my life.

  • Introspective

That bustle is making my eyes twitch. And adding unnecessary bulk to her figure. But the red detailing looks lovely and she does look great despite the wonky bottom half.

    The shoes are hazardous.

    • littlemac8

OK, Emma stole one of Kiki’s dresses from Marie Antoinette and chopped it off to a more modern length, and not in a good way.  However, I irrationally love her and just wish she’s change stylists before things go any further!

  • is it just me or do the embellishments make her waist look REALLY wide? i feel like this could’ve been way better if the red detail was flat.
shame, TBH. it looks so stunning aside from that red bulk.

    and omg her shoes <3

    • lol i just realized i’m the only here who likes her shoes :))

      • Scimommy

        (whispers) You’re not.

        • call_me_schmeg

          psssst! me too!

      • schadenfreudelicious

        i dont hate them either…shhhh…:)

        • cmb92191

I don’t hate the shoes either.   I could never wear them but they do look fun and different.  And as a plus, you could use your shoes as a self defense mechanism…(new name) stoned92191

  • RzYoung

The dress is cool, the shoes hurt – I almost wish I hadn’t started hating on them the minute they were born on the RC cos I’m exhausted with hate for them now. Her make up is awful – doesn’t she look in the mirror? Can’t she just fire the person responsible? It’s a weird talent to bog down her lovely face 🙁

  • nannypoo

The shoulders are very odd and the appliques make her middle section look enormous, but I like it anyway. At this point she must have worn every dress currently available from any designer, so it’s a good thing these promotional appearances will be winding down soon.

  • call_me_schmeg

her eyes are running into renee zellweger squint territory (says the girl with deep set eyes). tlo, don’t slappa ho, but i kinda like those shoes? will weaknesses for studs and spikes be forgiven.
    stoned emma

  • her skirt looks like a built in armrest HAHA

  • eight_of_nine

I like the spikes on the shoes but the clear plastic is so tacky I can’t even.

  • Funkykatt

Yeah, hate it. Also, with my history, I couldn’t be a ‘stoney’ but instead a ‘stoner’. Hope that’s an option.

    • Qitkat

Completely off topic, but I thought you might like to know, I’ve just added you as #42 on my list of (k)cat/kitten/kitty names who post on this blog 😉

  • sagecreek

I dunno, Unks, this seems to be bordering dangerously close to Twee As Fuck territory.

  • It looks like she is literally wearing a dress covered with little spider-mans.

  • Jessica O’Connell

I think she looks great, though I agree that the shoes need to be burned, and I think that she was made up for this RC better than she has been recently.

Glad you liked Crazy Stupid Love. I figured that that would be one of the romcoms that could capture the hearts of even those who LOATHE romcoms… They’re entire process of falling in love was absolutely adorable.

  • Elizabeth Norris

I just don’t understand the point of the shoes. If you want to be covered up, wear a pump. If you want to show your toes, wear a sandal.

There are more options in between those two, of course, but these shoes just don’t make any sense to me. Only having your smallest two toes visible? Why? And why does someone think that clear plastic (or what looks like it) on a shoe looks classy?

  • VioletFem

Love this look. The dress is gorgeous despite the weird shape of the skirt, it all works.

  • HM3

How funny. I watched the movie last night, too (caught it channel-surfing), and, like an idiot, I kept wondering who the sweet, pretty red-head was, because she looked So Darn Familiar. Strange that the mass of recent TLo Stone-posts didn’t set off a light bulb in my head. This *must* mean that her stylists have lately rendered her natural beauty unrecognizable…
…either that, or I just have a really terrible memory. No, I’m sure it’s the former. Yeah.

  • charlotte

So I’m guessing that “stoned” has a new meaning now. The dress is something I (and the model for that matter) couldn’t get away with, and the shoulder thingies are debatable, but you-know-who sure looks beautiful in it.

  • I think it’s a pretty cute overall. I don’t mind the shoes on her tiny little feet. They’d look hilarious on a bigger foot though.

  • vanjar

Not loving the dress, it looks like it came from the ‘Once Upon a Time’ wardrobe department. Snow would look lovely in it though.

    • formerlyAnon

I thought of Snow in it immediately. But (you may mourn my taste at your leisure) I thought of it as a good thing for a cute young thing who can be as dressed as artificially as she wants as long as it’s arguably either pretty or sexy, since her #1 job is to stand there and be photographed, possibly later to be photographed while saying a few gracious words.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Hate, hate, hate the dress and shoes, but adore Emma Stone.

  • PaulaBerman

May I suggest an alternate new name for the blog? I think it should be changed to “Fuck No, Emma Stone.”

  • Eclectic Mayhem

Clearly distraught at missing out on Lily Collins during the Mirror Mirror red carpet furore, this frock simply threw itself at the nearest starlet.

From now on I want to be known as Eclectic Stonehem.

  • TomBord

Tweeeeeedle Dee Tweedle DON”T. Out of all the beautiful things to choose…….this?

  • Cathy S

She’s very pretty but the dress and the shoes are horrible.

  • j_anson

NO. I like Emma Stone a lot, but she can’t make panniers work. No one in the last two centuries can make panniers work.

  • Ivona Foster

Those shoes!!!! Did CL & Co do some in the dark of the night brainwashing on all these stylists and starlets? Horrible, so unflattering and just plain ugly….

I loved Stoney here since Easy A and Crazy, Stupid Love was surprisingly funny but this whole Spidey tour seems like such a complete waste of effort. Extremely underwhelming when it could have been made into one huge Emma Stone adoration tour in which she is the fabulous queen bestowing her adoring fans with fabulous sparkle everywhere.

Is she pulling this dress off? Doesn’t quite seem like that to me :/

  • Miss_Led

Hate the dress. Call me AmIStoned.

  • amywinns

I think it’s an impractical but fun summer party dress for a rich 20something. Why not!? It’s not unflattering (thanks in large part to her great figure), yet it’s interesting! Shoes, meh. I can see the goal of adding “edge” without overwhelming the sweet nature of the dress, but I’m not sure this was the ideal pair to accomplish this. The jewelry is gorgeous and restrained. Overall, not bad! She certainly is running quite a gamut of looks though, isn’t she?!

  • I really do not like the dress, and the business on thes houlders is far worse than the odd shaped skirt.  She looks like she got attacked and is bleeding all over herself.  I agree about those plastic Louboutins.  Every pair I’ve seen look hiddy, and I really don’t think the spikes go with this dress.

  • jw_ny

I prefer to be referred to as a “stoner” tyvm.  😉

    hair & makeup…very pretty.

as for this dress…bulk to the waist is a mistake imo.  dislike.

shoes…ugh.  why does it seem like the popular & current shoe trends are always just so wrong?

  • juliamargaret

Bonus: if you squint it looks like there are tiny Spidermen crouched on the shoulders of the dress.

I hated that collection and am amazed that I like this dress on her as much as I do.

  • Lisa Dugan

I think she looks great.  I love the dress (maybe one crinoline fewer) and the diamond brooch in her hair.  I think it looks better on her than the model.  I really don’t mind the spiky shoes.  A little incongruous with the dress but it works.  A little edge.  Her makeup could still be better but overall she looks really good.

  • TheOriginalLulu

    Ok so I’ll be TheOriginalStoner.
I don’t know, I mean it IS a pretty dress, but I feel like it’s making her look oddly thick around the middle. The shape of the skirt is strange and it looks like it’s giving her lovehandles. Not that there’s anything wrong with a little lovehandle, mind you, these things happen, but normally you wouldn’t want to wear something that already has built-in love handles, ya know?
I agree about the makeup not being as flattering as it could be. I don’t understand what the problem is, either. If you’re a makeup artist and you get a beautiful, fresh young face like hers and you can’t manage to make it up to its best advantage, then maybe it’s time to reconsider the whole professional makeup artist thing.

  • The shape of the skirt seems to me a Menina going to prom.

  • BarbaraNovak

I love the dress!  But yeah, she needs  a new makeup person.  She’s a gorgeous gal, and she just looks off lately.  She’s  probably as tired of the Spidey dog’n’pony show as we are, though, so that could be part of it.  New posting name: Dude, I’m So Stoned

  • SummerSquash

I agree with you. I like this look, even with the weird skirt. Though the raccoon eyes do her no favors. (And I will now be SummerStone)

  • gabbilevy

I think the odd shape of this really works. And this iteration of those god-awful Louboutins is slightly less god-awful because the clear and the shiny almost blend in together. Keep taking risks, Miss Emma, and we’ll continue to tolerate your ubiquitousness.

  • GillianHolroyd

i loved this collection but clearly it has problems in the Real World.

She doesn’t have the poise or nous to wear couture and white is not her color.

I imagine the shoes would be uncomfortable if you cross your legs at the ankle.

  • Pants_are_a_must

That dress is stupid. Those shoes are stupid. She looks like a fetish Marie Antoinette maid in a Can-Can rendition of Prometheus.

And why on earth is she keeping the blond? It’s really not doing her favors.

Nope, sorry, overlords. She was gorgeous in Crazy, Stupid, Love but I’m really disliking every single look she’s been going for, this press tour.

  • Totally agree about those shoes. I’m sick of them, and they are ugly.

  • A little helmet head in the front but love the back of the hair. Don’t mind the shoes, love the dress, HATE the make-up.

  • Jangle57

Hate the dress, hate the shoes.  I’m makeup challenged so unless it’s horribly garish, I’m usually ok with it; hair is nice, like the brooch.

  • SapphoPoet

I love this. It’s unusual; sort of sweetly romantic with an edge. I don’t even mind the spikes on the sandals. LOVE the diamond barrette.

  • SapphoPoet

I love this. It’s unusual; sort of sweetly romantic with an edge. I don’t even mind the spikes on the sandals. LOVE the diamond barrette.

  • Ben

I love her in Crazy, Stupid, Love especially when she became wide-eyed in the presence of Gosling’s abs. “You look like you’re photoshopped” lol.

In other news, that dress is tragic and whoever put that stupid wig on Sigrid Argen needs to be bitchslapped.

  • boomchicabowwow

DIE shoes!  DIE ALREADY!!  I don’t mind the dress, but what a pain to have to hold your arms just slightly out to your sides all night.

  • mozzer0906

I couldn’t agree more with you on Crazy, Stupid, Love.  That scene was pure perfection.  I fell in love with both of them, I watched it like 20 times!  sigh.  She looked so stunning in that film.  I like her better with dark hair and less make up.

  • Wow. I never thought I’d stamp approval on an Emma Stone outfit, but this is really cute.

That hip flare thing annoys, though. On her and on the model, both.

And I’m a little punk rocker and even I find those shoes offensively bad.

  • Megan Patterson

I can’t believe she is wearing a dress with tiny panniers.

  • Snailstsichr

When I see those shoes close up, all I can think of is little baby dinosaurs. The longer I look at the dress, the less I like it – but I like her makeup a lot less than the dress.

  • PinkLemon

homegirl can stop with the white dresses now, please. she has this insatiable need to wash herself out…..needs some more jewel toned stuff. and those SHOES. i’m SO SICK of them.

  • quiltrx

Really gorgeous dress!  I would take away the extra hipbones, but I love it otherwise, especially all the foofaraw.

And those shoes! I’ll say again…I didn’t understand what the fuss was until yesterday, when I saw them from the side and realized you can see two to three ENTIRE toes on the wearer. If the solid portion actually covered all the toes, I like them. But I bet all that plastic gives serious stank foot.

  • janetjb

The dress isn’t very flattering on the model or poor Emma.

  • Kayceed

Well, I like the brooch in her hair. This is a strange dress – it starts out somewhat modern and summery, but then that wintery  embellishment thickens her waist, and the panniers are just weird. The stylist thought, oooh, let’s make things edgy with the ice pick shoes, but, I just think it adds a jarring note to a not-working-for-me dress. As for the makeup – the biggest problem is that her hair color washes her out, so nothing will look as good as it does when she is a stronger red. She also has hooded eyes, which the makeup person needs to figure out soonish.

  • janetjb

Apparently she’s a natural blond, just not this shade of blond.

  • msdamselfly

    Ridiculous-looking dress

  • samitee

HATE this. I can’t pinpoint why but it’s inspiring so much rage.

  • miagain

Compared to the short, shiny dresses that endlessly parade before our eyes… I find this fun!!  What the hell??

  • Larkin21

*love* the hair. I think the dress is cute and the make-up is better than it has been of late but still not that great. Don’t think I’ll ever like that style of shoe.

  • BazoDee

If this was an in and out it would be a OUT for me -the red pieces just sit there and the shape is just not flattering.

  • PeggyOC

Sorry, it’s just an ugly, akward and fugly dress.  Go pick something else, Emma. I’m sure you have a few other options in your closet.

  • JennaMarieS

I love the odd shape of the dress. She makes it work, especially the neckline. Hair is just so-so. Those shoes need to die a slow, spiky death. (my handle will now be JennaMarieStoney as well)

  • Saucysusan

Gentlemen, you CAN’T seriously encourage designers who would use a bustle as a design element. I beg your mercy on the comfort of womankind. We are already at their mercy regarding cute but painful shoes. Just look at how uncomfortable this dress looks! Under her arms! Imagine all that scratchy stuff under her skirt! Wide hips! Thick waist! Then imagine..oh you don’t have to imagine her feet..you can SEE how squished they are. This is bad for Emma & all women everywhere.

    • Sweetie, just because a dress exists doesn’t mean you have to wear it.

      • Saucysusan

Agreed. Being already somewhat, shall we say, zaftig, I would look totally ridiculous!

  • For the first (ok, maybe second) time ever, I completely disagree with TLo. While I like the details of the dress, I can’t get past what seems to be the panniers on her hips. I just can’t. And I LOVE those Louboutins! I do agree that her hair looks great. So I didn’t *completely” disagree!

  • marilyn

The dress makes her hips and shoulders big.  The net underslip is messy.  She is a pretty girl, in a dog of a dress.  I don’t care about the shoes.

  • Saucysusan

Excuse me. Not a bustle..panniers. Just as bad.

  • mellorcr

I don’t completely hate the dress, but I do hate the way the pleats that form the panniers make the skirt buckle in the crotch area.  I’ve seen polterweinies before, but this one looks like it’s pithcing a tent!

  • EEKstl

Interesting dress and it fits her very well, the bustle in this case doesn’t bother me, it works as a design element here.  Where we part company is the shoes – I can’t believe I’m saying this but I really like them.  I know the stylist was going for some “zany” juxtaposition of the soft femininity of that dress and the harder-edged spikes of the shoes, but I almost just see them an an interesting neutral – far more interesting than nude shoes, and the spikes just give them some texture (to say the least…).  I think the whole look is working, tho I do agree about the make-up: Not sure how they could make “soft” look harsh, but they’ve managed it here.

  • MoHub

Sorry. Hofbrau waitress, except for the shoes.

  • Lina_bee

Interesting that they saved the weird Chanel for LA. I agree about the makeup and shoes (NO MORE PLASTIC SHOES, OMG), but I think I like the choice of dress. There’s definitely no mistaking her for a generic Hollywood starlet.

  • MilaXX

    Milkmaid with bad shoes.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I keep thinking that this poor woman must be utterly exhausted right about now.  She soldiers on and good for her for doing it with a smile.  I ADORE her hair.  Love, BigWhiteStoneyPanties

I kind of love this, which is surprising, considering it looks like the hangars are still in it.

  • AthenaJ

I’m glad to see in the 2nd pic Emma also looks confused as to why she’s wearing a dress that makes her hips look 3x bigger than they really are. Glad I’m not the only one. Nevertheless, it’s still pretty. Like the detailing.
From now on, my new name shall be Patsy Stone!

  • deltabronze

It’s a really interesting design — though a bit costume-y. I like how the neckline echoes the pannier lines. However, the deep red and white color combo is way too strong for her delicate coloring. It’s hard to pull your gaze from the dress to her face.

    • deltabronze

(after looking at whiteboard). Zooey Deschanel would look great in this dress.

  • BayTampaBay

I love Chanel but this is one FUGLY dress!

  • Lilithcat

    It’s snowing down south.

  • newtonGOTbeaned

I’d like to see the dress on Kristen Stewart. Not that it looks bad on Emma Stone, but I think Kristen’s dark hair would look dramatic with it. And it suits the whole Snow White theme perfectly.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

    Call me LesYeuxEnPierre

This looks very sweet on her, though I wish it nipped in just a little more at the waist before erupting out into panniers. The shoes are horrible, and the eye makeup is a strictly high school effort…but I still love her and doubt anything could change that. Even those grotesque Louboutins.

  • Susan Crawford

Despite the crazy, costume-like design of this dress, I find myself loving it. Yes, it makes the hips look wide; yes, the decoration is cracked-out; yes, there’s that under-slip thing. But I still love this dress.

My first instinct on seeing those shoes was to wince in pain – I’ve seen them on a couple of celebs, and they strike me as positively lethal machines of torture – that poor, crammed-in little pinky-toe deserves better!

  • unbornfawn

Wow, if this is her best look of the tour, that is not saying much. You are right about the make-up and the shoes.

  • Countess_Emma_Von_Stonevski

Very pretty, love the romantic looks on the RC lately.

  • I really adore this dress and think it works great on her.

On the subject of her makeup on this press junket versus in Crazy. Stupid. Love.: it’s probably easier to make her up as a redhead, just from a pale-skin-punctuation perspective.  The auburn brows totally help define those gorgeous green eyes.  And I don’t mind this makeup here!  I think she looks really pretty and clean.

And hey TLo, have you seen Easy A?  You will fall head over heels for her spunk.  And I’ll just take this moment for another aside –  girl has gotten some of the best actresses as moms: Patricia Clarkson, Julianne Moore, and Allison Janney in the Help.  So much fun must have been had on the sets.

  • Gorgeous! Love the dress! Dare I say it looks better on her than the model. I like the shoes too.

  • Sara__B

I’m Stoned out. The fit is off in the sleeves and the neckline, and she looks like the bride at her second or third wedding. The only thing I like at all is her hair. (I’ll bet she’s as ready for this movie premier tour to be over as we Stoneys are, though.)

  • another_laura

Love that dress!  Hate those shoes.

  • Ancyra

Oh, Emma.  Fungus AND a farthingale?

  • mike__tv

The thing is, the girl doesn’t know how to look bad, even with the makeup up and unforgiving dress. New handle emmancipate-the-starlet or Bromancing-the-stone. I don’t really like fashion but I still read this blog mostly because you guys are awesome.

  • formerlyAnon

Well, it’s not a flattering skirt, but she doesn’t *need* to be flattered – and it looks good, if a trifle costumey on her. Overall, I like. Costumey is just fine when you’re basically dressing to be photographed, day after day after day. They’re odd little shoes and look odder on, but the are delicate enough for the dress, so not a dreadful choice. Hair is lovely.

The Emma formerly known as formerlyAnon.

  • The red design on the dress looks like an elaborate harness designed to yank her away expeditiously if she says anything wrong on this tour.

If she objects to being yanked, she can just kick the yanker with those lethal shoes, and life-threatening injuries should ensue.

I am giggling Gallic-ly in response to LesYeuxEnPierre.

  • Monabel

    Sorry, I like the dress.

  • judybrowni

i assume the shoes are meant as a determent for anyone with the gall to play footsie with the star under a table.

emma pulls it all off, even with the makeup holding her back.

  • PrunellaV

So many dresses have excess baggage at the waist or stomach these days. Not flattering.

  • LambeeBaby

She definitely looks better than the model, but there is something Snow White “lite” about it.

  • Amy Ellinger

Ergh, girl. Go back to your room and change.

I refuse to change my name, just because I’ll have to change it back once she’s done pimping this cursed movie and can take a break.

  • I love the dress and like any sane person, HATE the shoes.  The dress is precious while being terrifying all at once.  It’s like “When Embroidery Attacks” meets spacewear, resulting in half a quinceñera dress.  And yes, the person responsible for her unflattering, feature shrinking make-up should be slapped into a coma.

  • This is a pretty dress with an unusual shape and I think she looks very good.  It would look good on me, too, but that’s becauses my hips naturally jut out like that.  (I kid you not)

  • nancylee61

I hate her dress and most Chanels. She looks like Little Miss Muffet or Kathy Griffin doing the cupcake turn at the toddler beauty pageant.

  • nancymae

That dress makes me want to scoop up my niece for an impromptu tea party with the Mad Hatter. It’s just such a curiosity.

  • guest2visits

Sorry; I think Emma manages to make this all werq – from head to toe. Even the weirdly bustled dress. Even the spikey Louboutins.
I even think it all goes together.  Do I wish the designer hadn’t opted to do that to the dress; yes.
But it looks like she’s having fun with it anyway.

  • AudreysMom

Love her, hate the dress (it looks like those red things are crawling up to eat her) and hate her eye make up.

  • Judih1

Call me StoneTIred – if I see one more post on her I will scream! Show us someone else — someone with some real style, not someone who wears whatever free frock comes her way. Horrible frocks at that!

I do like the shoes, even if they do look like spikes on her toes. Just don’t like them with that dress and not on her. Put them on Rhianna or

  • PeaceBang

I love the brooch in the hair so much. The dress is cute but not her best. I am now PeaceStone.

  • Yosa Addiss

Don’t they know that plastic shoes fog up? Sheesh!

  • holdmewhileimnaked

    it’s horrible.
mini-panniers can be done by precisely two people, one of whom is now no longer w/ us: yep, AMcQ &, of course, the greatest of them all, VivW. nobody else.
in this case it really does seem like KL has decided he’s done this so very many times that he’s simply gonna fuck w/ everyones’ collective head & put out just anything. [in truth, i dont think he actually thinks like that–he’s been around so long that if you, too, have been here longer than you ever would have either wanted or expected, you too probably know he’s more a dingbat than a big, weight-reduced, sweltering slice o’ poison pie. but in practice, a lot of his clothes look like this lately.]
besides, to shorthand it, it looks like she stuffed the craft services table under her dress & cleverly applied some kind of fruit desert that once lay thereupon, along w/ its doily, as her trimming. & she does not deserve to look like that!

    shoes are hideous.

[i’ve had a virtual pole through my head all week, the TN i once mentioned is a dreadful, dreadful thing–& my case is very mild, yet still here we are–so perhaps i am crankier than usual. still. as ever though i’m conscious enough to give the demerits not to the starlet but to the designer, who should know better & does & yet is lazily compromising himself while fulfilling his contractual obligations.]

edited for grammar & continuity, i think.

  • Is it wrong of me to ask if this dress is a political statement about safe and affordable abortions?

  • frankystein123

I get that sometimes you need to sacrifice a bit of comfort for fashion, but those shoes are just ridiculous. It is a god damn torture device.

  • Liverpoolgirl

She’s so adorable….but her dress is being eaten by a sea creature, shoes necessary to fight off said creature.  Who is dressing our lovely?  Blech!

  • Aurumgirl

Number one:  that dress is ridiculous.
Number two:  Emma has those stupid plastic shoes in every colour and permutation, and they make me question her taste completely.  Even if she is under contract to the ugly, I’m sure Louboutin has another type of shoe besides this one.  It’s Emma’s fault that we will be seeing this $3 shoe on every starlet on every red carpet for the next two years.

So do not be naming me anything to do with any of this, please and thank you.

  • I guess I’m doomed to never agree with TLo about shoes.

  • Stoney here…  Definitely not feeling this one.  The shoes should be registered as lethal weapons, both for the wearer and anyone the wearer kicks.  The dress looks … goofy, somehow.  Maybe it’s how the red detail around the waist is crawling up her back and threatening to strangle her.

  • I LOVE that dress. Hate the shoes. BUT THE DRESS.

  • TieDye64

Y’know, I think the idea of the dress is really cool, but it doesn’t translate in the real world on a real woman. The sketch is probably killer. Her hair looks cute but I so hate the shoes and you guys are so right on the eye makeup. Such a lovely and engaging young woman. C’mon people, get it together!

  • ccm800

her face looks like this to me

  • My fave Emma Stone moment is Pocket Full of Sunshine in Easy A. It’s awesome.

  • librarygrrl64

Other than the AWFUL shoes, I kind of love this on her.

  • Allison Shannon

    Those fuckin’ shoes.
