Posted on June 14, 2012

Ladies, let’s talk shoes. You know you want to. We don’t feature the footwear of Charlotte Olympia often enough here; the shoes are insanely popular and these pairs from the Resort 2013 collection are cute and fun. And what better way to talk about shoes than to put them on the feet of your favorite celebrities? Yes, it’s time once again to play Pretend Stylist. Just look at the shoes and blurt out the first celeb you can think of who’d wear them.

  • I’m having a CharlizeShoegasm.

    • Eileen R. Vanhoose

They look like a very ugly afterthought. Then again, I do have lots of hate of hoof

  • EveEve

    Spot on, as usual Tlo!
I loathe the hockey puck sole fad with a passion, but loves me a skinny strappy sandel.

    • Kristin McNamara

all i was thinking as i was scrolling down was how platforms look even more extra-ridiculous when the picture of the shoe is so crisp and clear and CLOSE-UP like these are. the second half of these photos just look so, so, so much better than the first half!

  • I totally called Katy Perry also.

  • charlotte

Buy them? Yeah, right. But they do look nice and they have my name and I guessed Katy Perry right. The others were at least close.

  • JasmineAM

Most of these are cute, however, I really despise the look of the platforms-were-glued-on-last minute. They look like a very ugly afterthought. Then again, I do have lots of hate of hoof platforms.

    • Beardslee

      a very ugly afterthought, indeed.

  • kimmeister

Why so many ankle straps??? ūüôĀ

    • VioletFem

      Because they’re fun! I’m a ¬†little biased. ¬†ūüôā

    • Stephanie Leach

I have narrow heels and can’t wear a shoe without an ankle strap. I love to see it as a fashionable choice!

  • poggi

I want shoes that are worthy of hood ornament.

    • Qitkat

Hood ornament leopard for Madonna. How totally perfect.

      • ¬†OMG! Inspired idea!
Hood ornament leopard sandal, without you life I could not handle.
That’s a freebie Madge.¬† I see the video playing in my head.

  • The platforms on the stilettos kill me. ¬†It looks so clunky. That trend must go. ¬†The Elle Fanning shoe is also totally Taylor Swift. ¬†Lots of pretty here.¬†

  • I personally would wear any of those shoes.

  • MoHub

I’d wear that adorable ballet flat, and I’m 60.

  • MilaXX

    Love every single shoe.
Agree with most of the choices except I’d give the Dolores pair to Carey Mulligan and the Geraldine sandals to Helen Miren

  • Lilithcat

The sooner shoe designers get rid of that under-toe platform, the better. It’s one of the ugliest styles ever. ¬†Every single one of those shoes that has it would be gorgeous without it.

  • The leopard hood ornament. I can’t stand how cute that is. I am also thinking about glue guns and rubber animals in my house, and shoes that were heretofore boring but now could sport HEADS! I am seeing shameful, friend-and-family embarrassing crafty projects in my future…

    • carolynmo

Sarah, I’ll be your first customer.

  • Judy_J

I am in total agreement with each of your choices.  I would love to wear the Elle Fanning sandal.

  • hughman

“I would wear those shoes but what I really want to do is direct.” – All the actresses¬†

  • 1 – Esther Williams
    2 – Bonita Granville
    3 – Paulette Godard
    4 – Anna May Wong
    5 – Betty Grable
    6 – Myrna Loy
    7 – Joan Crawford
    8 – Ginger Rogers
    9 – Katherine Hepburn
10 – Patty McCormack as Rhonda Penmark

It was the leopard print shows that set me off, Joan Crawford would have eaten those up with a spoon.

    • anotherEloise

      Ten for ten!

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Or how about the entire cast of the original The Women?  I think you are SPOT. ON.

      • “The Women” is such a great film, and I could see Rosalind Russell in the second pair of shoes – Ros strikes me as a classic pump with a twist, don’t you think?

    • Beardslee

I particularly liked your choice for Ginger Rogers.  Perfect!

  • Charmella

Good going! You guys are pretty much dead on with your choices!…especially with the choice for Shelley! …and OMG, the Clio sandal with that leopard ornament…freakin’ awesome!

  • carolynmo

I want that Clio sandal. Now!!!

  • Call me Bee

Gentlemen,¬†right as usual!¬† But man I hate those stupid, stupid platforms.¬† Just give me a beautiful, delicate shoe any day.¬† I can see Betty White wearing the colorful little Fanning number…

  • Love all of these shoes.¬†

  • I only got Shelley O and Charlize right. shucks. I gave the second pair to Gaga…but I guess that you could really give any of them to Gaga right. Cool and original shoes. Thanks for the pretty boys!

    • silaria

I gave up after I gave the fourth pair in a row to Rihanna.

  • PeaceBang

    Podiatrist’s Delight.¬†

  • U to the LGY

  • ThaliaMenninger

The last two and maybe the Michelle Obama are the only ones women who aren’t insane should even consider wearing. I am thinking of starting a brigade or cabal or something to try to throw poop or firecrackers or something at all shoes with anything higher than a three-inch heel. We can break windows of shoe stores, break heels off them surreptitiously in stores, fling stiletto heels at designers in the hopes of putting an eye out, throw banana peels on the sidewalks in front of women wearing them… Those shoes are so dangerous. I say this because I wear a size 6. A size 6 with anything more than a 2-inch heel is LETHAL. I tried on somebody else’s shoes — probably a size 7 — at a wedding and immediately took a tumble. WHILE I WAS STANDING STILL. I also had foot surgery a few years ago, the kind that all the women who abuse their feet in heels end up having, where they basically saw off your big toe, put a metal pin there and straighten it out where you made it all twisted in the bad shoes. So BOOOOOOO to high shoes. BOOOOOOOO!

    • holdmewhileimnaked

i dunno, i am a size six, have been wearing six inch heels, specifically platform heels, for decades. so far, like it or not, i am still w/ us.

    • MilaXX

No all. As a young 20something I wore 4 inch heels on a fairly regular basis. I was very careful to buy my size and never had so much as a corn or bunion. The only reason I don’t wear them now is the result of knee injuries. Some women can wear those heels.

  • quiltrx

I don’t like the look of “oh shit, the heel is too tall, let’s slap on this ‘aftermarket’ platform for the front.’

  • Tatiana Luj√°n

I’m so done with platform ¬†shoes. What need do we have of using crazy-high heels?

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i’m immediately taking the top wedge platforms from katy perry, giving them to myself, giving her the ones you gave madonna, giving madonna nothing. let madonna go buy something else after all this time, for heavens sake, she has the money.

when she is on–which is a lot of the time–i just love charlotte olympia’s shoes. pity they never hit affordability, not even used, not even on ebay, cos i just love those top ones to everlovin death.

  • silaria

I have more fun describing the shoes in my head and then scrolling down to see who you boys matched them to. ¬†Ex: ¬†“Sexy, but more practical and down-to-earth. ¬†Michelle Obama! ¬†Oh god, completely ridiculous and over the top… Madonna!”

  • sherrietee

Considering how much my feet hurt from wearing heels all day yesterday, I’ll pass on all but the flat.¬† Yes, even the wedge.¬† (I was wearing a 2″ wedge yesterday and now my back, legs and feet hurt.)¬† I do not understand, nor will I ever understand, the fascination with high heels.¬† They hurt far too much.

Actually, after looking at the flat, I’ll pass on that too.¬† It has too much of a heel.

  • Susan Crawford

It is SO great to see mid-heels, moderate wedges and flats in a high-fashion collection. As for me, I will be wrestling Michelle Obama in the Rose Garden for those Dorsays, which are awesome, and I definitely love the sweet, colorful flats. I can’t with the super-skyscraper heels any more – no-one wants to see a tottery gal of a certain age face planting: trust me on that! But the shoes are tres glam.

  • There are some really¬†pretty shoes here, ruined by that¬†bulky, ugly¬†platform sole.
