Catherine Zeta-Jones in Dolce&Gabbana

Posted on June 15, 2012

Oh, Cathy Z-J! We’re so proud of you, honey. Your last attempt on the RC was not well-received, but you’ve really turned it around with this one:

Catherine Zeta makes an appearance on the “Daily Show With Jon Stewart” in NYC in a Dolce&Gabbana dress paired with Dana Rebecca Designs earrings.

See, honey? That’s how you show off the stems. That thing you wore the other day had the whiff of desperation to it and subsequently, looked incredibly unflattering. Here, you look sexy and effortlessly chic. We’re not entirely on board with the ruffles on the bottom, but the rest of it has a cool, chic, sexy vibe that suits you quite well. Well done, lady. Love your shades. Kinda hate the shoes, though. You couldn’t find a sleek pair of metallic sandals, honey? Come on, now.

Yeah, metallic sandals would have knocked this look out of the park.

    • Rand Ortega

This. Bronzy YSL sandals would’ve killed (in a good way) this look!
Man, but she is fine! Those legs!

  • DominoEstella

She is a beautiful woman.  I love this look.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Better shoes needed, yes, but I still think this is a touch desperate. Love her sunglasses though.

    • JosephLamour

Her requirements for clothing these days seem to be: short, and the unclear impression of nudity. Her and Demi Moore must go shopping together.

      • NinaBoo

Heidi and JLo make it a foursome!

    • lovelyivy

Agreed- something about the ruffles on the bottom in particular calls to mind the outstanding Mad Style posts, and their focus on the infantilization of women through wardrobe in that era. Creepy in that context and slightly creepy here, on a grown-ass woman.

  • SapphoPoet

    Much better.

  • http://twitter.com/Lola99959 Veronika Kaufmann

She looks like Bethanny Frankel. And that’s not a compliment.

  • joe_tey83

The people behind her looks like they have never seen a woman before.

    • Rrroza

thanks for that. the first pic especially. hahahahaha!

  • rh33

I agree it’s a touch desperate…too short. Heading towards swimsuit cover up. Especially with the sandals,

    • unbornfawn

My first thought was swimsuit cover up too!

      • Judih1

Me too! Maybe she has been living in Bermuda so long she only feels comfortable in a swimsuit cover up. I think for a woman her age that is the ONLY reason she should be wearing a dress that short – when she is on the beach.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2P2ANLRZ6YAVGONA36I2AQJYGI VicD

Yeah, seems like somebody’s in the middle of a full blown mid-life crisis.  Put  CZJ’s outfits on Emma Stone, and they’d been fine.  Why can’t she take a lesson from Cate Blanchett or other fashion stars nearer her age?

    • Lisa_Cop

Yup, a little too short considering her age. But still an IN for me.

  • Call me Bee

Cute dress!  Yes–not nearly as deperate looking a last time.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

I was just so happy happy happy (eyes traveling down)…. then I got to the shoes.  Emotional whiplash.

*sigh*.  She THISCLOSE to perfect.  But I still LOVE HUH.

  • Sara__B

I wish the hem were maybe two inches longer. This length is more “day at the beach” than “chic star SITS and visits with Jon Stewart”.

  • jmorino08

    Cute dress! I want it!!

  • holdmewhileimnaked

yep, yr right, she looks way much way better. took the ten years right back off.

the real question, though, is why is paul simon waiting patiently for her at the stage door? or, rather, why is the paul simon of ten years ago waiting there? or, even more: why would anyone over the age of, i dunno, i’ll be charitable, twenty, wait at a stage door for anyone that person does not know? or maybe i’m just tired & have lived here too long. los angeles, the us of a, the planet, anywhere in the solar system, you know, all of it.

    • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

There are a lot of professional autograph hounds who haunt stage doors just to get a high-value autograph that they can sell. Fake Paul Simon just might be one of these mercenary sorts! They’re easy to spot because they usually have a ton of crap and are very pushy about getting the celebrity to sign, whereas the average giddy fan might bring one thing at best but is mostly content to just lose their shit in front of said celebrity and anything over that is just icing on the cake they’ve made of themselves.

  • belfebe

    Gorgeous.  So KZJ.

  • Spreecord

Her tits look like they could use a hike, and the shoes are atrocious, but it’s Friday evening and I’m feeling generous. Well done, Welshy.

  • Lina_bee

I agree on the ruffles, but the shape of this is fantastic on her frame. She should go Mod all the time.

  • norseofcourse

    Holy grandma sandals!

  • Violina23

Did the use of the word “stems” make anyone else think of Clueless?  (“Nice stems…”)  :-)

    • MoHub

Actually, stems made me think of film noir detective-speak. I could just hear Bogart complimenting Ms. Z-J on her stems.

  • cleep1000

This isn’t much better than what she wore the other day. Way too short. Her feet look huge. Proportion fail.

  • schadenfreudelicious

less desperate yes, but still a skosh too short in my opinion, if she lifts her arms up any higher she is showing us the good china….

  • Allison Woods

Yep, cute dress. I miss her old face though.

Showed the pic from the other day to several people and no one recognized her.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

At least it looks like the filler around her mouth is settling in a bit.  She’s almost smiling – not quite, but nearly there.  Cute dress, if she was 20 years younger.  She has great legs, but those shoes are just tragic.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Sierra-Delta/100003182924700 Sierra Delta

At first glance I thought it was Sofia Vergara.

  • MilaXX

The dress is better, but she could have used an extra inch or 2 and the shoes are hiddy.

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

CZJ looks like herself again, whew!

  • formerlyAnon

I’d say it looks an inch too short, but then, I’m old.  Plus, I recently saw her on some late night talk show and over-40 or not, she is Drop Dead Gorgeous. She doesn’t need super short skirts to stun the bystanders. But, whatev.

  • TieDye64

Nice. Love the shades and HATE the shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

It still smacks a bit of desperation. Like, “I’m not that old!!” (Which she’s not, btw.)

But, I like the dress, and the shoes don’t offend me.

  • Carlodog

Her skirt is much too short.  Whiff of desperation.  And she looks much better with the sunglasses on.  When she takes them off….BOTOX ALERT! I saw her interview on The Daily Show last night.   I remember what she used to look like, and it was nothing like she looks now.  I wish these actresses would stop f*ing up their faces.  Age gracefully, dammit.

  • Pennymac

    Much better, Mrs. Douglas!

  • elzatelzabelz

So much better. She looks stylish, sexy, and glamorous.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_F73LIJ3SJGI5AJQMXMWXCKILHI Pamela

Though she looks good, I miss the CZJ that had hips & a figure with more curves.  But I guess she’s had a few years of stress wearing on her….

  • guest2visits

Very pretty; but I still feel it’s a little short and shapeless.

  • http://profiles.google.com/grandiva1968 e jerry powell

Something went horribly wrong around the shoulders after she sat down, though.

  • quiltrx

Cute dress!  But what is with the “Most Wrong Shoes Possible” trend right now???

  • Trisha26

She’s lovely but this is simply too short. Agree with the metallic sandal.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

The dress is 3 inches too short and the shoes are hideous!  I also wish she hadn’t fucked up her face with her most recent surgery(s).

  • emily mcginnis

it’s makes me sad what she has done to her face. she was so beautiful. now, she looks pulled and plumped.

    • formerlyAnon

Maybe I’m jaded about the various kinds of “maintenance,” but I think she’s still gorgeous. I will admit that it’s not the same gorgeous she would have been with less anti-aging maintenance -more generic & less individual. But somehow in the entertainment celebrity culture, younger trumps individual.

  • Lilak

(Dare I say it?)  On a woman her age, even with pretty good gams, this is basically a swanky beach cover-up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bob-Sponge/100000465550991 Bob Sponge

She looks good, from a distance. Close up, her face still screams botox.

  • MoHub

Everyone seems to bring it for Jon Stewart.

  • greyhoundgirl

For me it’s the ruffles on the bottom that put it close to the desperate category.  Baby’s diaper cover ruffles.

  • allisankelly

The shoes really weigh this look down. Effortless and chic like you said, but I really think the dress could use another inch on the skirt.

  • NurseEllen

“The stems”??  Rather, “the sticks”.  Agree, the shoes are unworthy of her or the outfit, and the shades are fab, but I just can’t get over how skinny and un-beautiful her legs look.

  • nannypoo

My grandmother had a fancy little black plastic apron with tiny ruffles that she broke out for special occasions. Now, what made me think of that?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

Still distracted by the rubber face, she was so pretty.

  • melanie0866

That’s funny, because on the air you couldn’t see the texture, the ruffles, or anything else.  It just looked like a black jumper.  And I have HD!  It’s much cuter in these pictures.

Those shoes make her feet look deformed.

Has she had work done?  Her face looks different.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

100% love, including the shoes and the ruffles and the sunglasses

  • meowing

Hem looks too short to sit, um, ladylike in front of a huge TV audience.  I applaud ladies who wear either a full skirt or a longer hem for that venue.  As always, however, she’s a beautiful woman.

  • amyfromnj

    That’s one ugly dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Elizabeth-Poytinger-Baumer/1516981341 Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

still what the hell happened to her face?

  • CommentsByKatie

Wow, this is almost a WERQ for me – except the shoes.  She looks fab.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Yeah, I love the dress but were those sandals an attempt to make it a ‘day’ look? It didn’t work. She does look worlds better though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

    Damn Africa, what happened?

  • understateddiva

Kinda looks like a swimsuit cover-up.  Maybe the horrible shoes are giving me that impression.  Sorry, CZJ.  Can we still go for lattes?

  • Stargatefan

Count me out. A shiny see-through sack with ruffles, much too short. And wrong shoes. But still much better than last time, sadly.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I think the whole look is fantastic, head-to-toe.

  • Cathy S

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I saw her on the Daily Show in this and it was way too short for sitting at a desk. She’s lucky Jon’s desk has a kind of barrier on the guest’s side or she would have flashed people numerous times. As it was, when she sat down and crossed her legs, she was seriously in the danger zone. Nice dress for standing, terrible for sitting.

  • PeaceBang

I think she looks like hell. The dress is too short, too dark, + makes her look desperate and pasty. The sunglasses are a terrible shape for someone who apparently just had fillers or something put in their face — her face is looking weird and pinched as it is and the glasses are adding insult to injury. And those sandals are incredibly unsophisticated for the look.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/URGJGGSQIBGBMQ3G72VBF45JBQ Kelly

Funny how she’s more recognizable here than the earlier picture without the sunglasses . . .
