Ariel Winter in Alice + Olivia

Posted on June 07, 2012

It’s a beautiful day outside our office windows, which means we are starting it off cranky. Because wouldn’t you rather be looking at a beautiful day rather than a computer screen? You would. Probably. Some of you are kind of weird, though, so we can’t really predict what you like to do.

At any rate, we’re totally self-absorbed, so if we’re cranky, we assume it’s a universal thing. And since the whole world is cranky this morning (according to us), we’re here to save it with some adorableness.

Ariel Winter attends the 2012 Global Green Millennium Awards  in an Alice + Olivia dress.

Like a basket of kittens, isn’t she?

I love big floral prints like this

get the insulin, too much sweetness

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=608416678 Jenny Jackson White

She’s adorable AND a talented, funny kid!  Those Modern Family children make the show.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

I agree, and they seem very grounded and sweet in interviews to boot. That dress is the cutest!

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/5FRODZZ5ENOHRHVBN4LIB5ZFVU Fatama

agreed.  god I love that Rico Rodriguez kid!  I’ve heard him do radio interviews a few times and he’s just as sweet and adorable as he is as Manny on the show.

    • mjude

      a basket of kittens indeed.

    • http://twitter.com/obestbeloved Caitlin Murphy

Cute. Not sold on the disheveled fraulein hair, though.

    • SewingSiren

Very , very pretty. I love love love the hair.

      • http://twitter.com/Bloodisea Barbora

Right? Really cute hairstyle. Love dress on her too.

    • MissAnnieRN

Very appropriate. I would have loved to wear his dress to a dozen bar mitzfahs in 1992. This is good as far as 90’s inspiration goes, though. Maybe it’s because I associate big, floral prints with the early 90’s. Maybe that’s just me.

      • lovelyivy

Not just you. Add some Doc Martens and make that dress a short-sleeved babydoll, and I’ll believe you that someone bought it at Betsey Johnson for one of my 8th grade dances circa 1992.

        • understateddiva

ALL the girls wore this kind of thing to my 8th grade dance!  I missed the memo and showed up in a plaid jumper. :(

          • lovelyivy

Yeah I wore pants and a BRIGHT ORANGE sheer shirt and cami. Oh the 90’s….

      • Violina23

I think I *did* wear a previous incarnation of this dress to bar/bat mitzvah’s in 1994…

    • MilaXX

She looks adorable! Love the entire outfit.

    • SapphoPoet

Love this. Very pretty. Actually reminds me of several skirts I had in the late 1980s that I bought from The Limited.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m in! She looks great, and perfect for the event and time of year.  Love it.  Not usually a fan of great big florals, but this realy works for her.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Very cute. Glad it sits higher than on the model, too!

      • random_poster

As a result of exactly that, I think it looks better on her than the model.

        • j_anson

It’s funny – I was actually thinking that this is one of those rare instances where I really like it on both the model and the starlet, even though it looks fairly different on the two.

          • Celandine1

I did too! I loved it on the model (and her hair style as well), it looked really flirty and fresh. It looked adorable on Ariel and younger, probably because it was shorter. Both looks were great.

    • AuntieAnonny

Ugliest hair I’ve seen all week.

    • Scarlet39

      Very sweet and age appropriate

      • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

After I ragged on her for the inappropriate baby heads, I have to give her props for wearing a sundress that covers them up. She looks as cute as can be.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

You’re right, T and Lo, adorable!  Love that she shortened the skirt – at her age, it looks age appropriate and she’s cute as a button.  I actually like it better on her than on the model.  Very cute!

    • AlinaValero

adorable dress but i’m not feeling the slept-on-day-after-prom hair

      • oohsparkley!

After several comments on the hair, I had to go back and check it out.  When you look at the hair, it is kind of bad.  But when I first saw the pictures I thought she was adorable (basket of kittens!).

    • Lisa Dugan

She looks super sweet. The halter neck is great for her.

    • NurseEllen

Cute kid, cute dress, cute post.  Now I have the right attitude to go bitch slap the city workers who started tearing up the street in front of my house at 7AM.

    • colleenjanel

Anyone over the age of 14 would have looked ridiculous in this. She looks lovely!

    • http://twitter.com/Kathy_Marlow Kathy Marlow

Totes adorbs!!! No one else could get away with this but her!

    • Pennymac

Born in 1998 which makes her 14 (According to my bad math skills) I have nothing critical to say. She is adorable, the dress is age appropriate, and so is the cute messy updo. No 14 year old should be seen with all hair shellacked in place, IMHO. WIN!

    • Call me Bee

Yes–this little girl is real cute, whoever she is…
But, does anyone else see the irony of a bunch of Hollywood types going to an event with a RC touting “Global Green”?  How much petroleum was wasted on that Astroturf?

      Sorry–guess I’m cranky, too,  Not enough coffee…

    • ChristySchiff

Those little “tendrils” falling out of her hair at the front are killing me. What is this, 1992?

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

Cute, but too short. I get that she is young enough to wear a shorter skirt, but I still think this is a few inches too far north.

      • out for a walk

Agreed. I think shortening it threw off the proportions to roller-skating waitress length.

    • SlackerQueen3

      LOvE!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/63F4DF4VDHSF2LPYOSWO5ZHAGU AdrienneD

Super cute.  I wore a less fabulous, but similar black and big floral print dress with crinoline to my 8th grade graduation in 1990.  Ariel clearly feels pretty, I did too.

    • Jessi03

      She looks incredible!  So cute!

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Awwwwww……

    • BazoDee

The dress is cute and appropriate -which in this day and age is a welcomed miracle!  But if I had to quibble – the shoes are heavy, the hair is goofy and the “i’m so cute” posing almost ruins the whole thing. But I love her -so those are just quibbles.

    • newleaf1

She looks darling, completely age appropriate.  My daughter would have loved to wear this to her 8th grade dance!

    • CrazyAuntie

This dress is made for her!

    • NinaBoo

Yep, I’m from California. I see the green cross and the first thing I think is, “marijuana dispensary”.

Second is, “She looks fantastic!”. The dress looks better on her than on the model.

      • Qitkat

Yep. Those green crosses are all over Denver too.

    • Judy_J

      Precious.

    • Sandra Donnally

I think the longer skirt length looks better. Am I the only one who thinks the proportions are off?

      • Anathema_Device

Ha! No, I just posted the same thing. I like the length on the model better. I think a longer length would have helped the skirt draped more, rather than sticking out as it does.

    • http://twitter.com/The_Bugler Anna Daugherty

      Cute.

    • janetjb

      Beautiful and age appropriate too

    • Beth G

      LOVE AGE APPROPRIATENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Lilithcat

      So cute!

    • Lina_bee

Stylist WIN. She looks sweet enough to make my teeth hurt, but in an age-appropriate and family-friendly way that will guarantee her a career through her teens. If she doesn’t have a tween-targeted movie out within a year, I will be very surprised.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OSYAJATXUH3QX7ZDDF52GXG4PU Janie R

All is right with the world.

    • ballerinawithagun

      Adorable! Perfectly fitted.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Awwwwww. She’s such a pretty girl!

    • Anathema_Device

That’s a cute dress. I think it should have been to the knee (as on the model), though, for proportion’s sake.

And who doesn’t need a basket of kittens on a cranky day? I had my seriously cranky day yesterday, so I feel you. Looking forward to seeing you channel it into your finest bitchery. ;-)

    • teensmom99

Very cute & age appropriate (hallelujah) but as the mom of a teen, I can tell you that you can find dresses just like that in Nordstrom’s junior department or other stores that aim at teens, like Delia’s.  I don’t mean an exact replica but stuff like this–which is part of what makes it so age appropriate and lovely. I realize this might be higher quality than those dresses but I’m kind of surprised that the designer didn’t come up with something different.  As to length which some people have commented on: it’s very hard to get a teen these days to agree to a longer length.  My daughter would consider longer to be frumpy–even if she’d be wrong.

      • Ogden1990

This. Having just spent too much time dress shopping with my 8th grade daughter for her end-of-the-school-year summer cruise, you’re exactly right. Lots of this look all over the mall and on-line. Anything longer than what lovely Ariel is wearing above was immediately pushed aside by my 14 year old.

    • Rand Ortega

      Pass the insulin!

    • j_anson

      D’awwwwww.

    • TieDye64

      Yep. A basket of kittens.

    • MzzPants

OMG.  She’s so cute, she’s nearly anime.

    • http://twitter.com/suryasnair suryasnair

I love her on Modern Family. She IS a basket of kittens!

    • Sara__B

Cute and summery and completely appropriate for a 14-year-old.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/K3O2QNXDJIU3AJINAGNJRYWDZ4 mrspotts66

that dress is adorable on her.
and i love the braid crown!

    • unbornfawn

      Really cute!

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Painfully adorable, even the milkmaid hair. Interesting how the adjusted proportions work on her, because she’s so young.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TRNFWXFV5XXESSL5Q4YADG6WWQ Bridget

except for those sloppy, uneven, clunky intentional tendrils, she’s adorable

    • Qitkat

I adore this dress. Beautiful peony style flowers on black. A smashing design. Nice details of stitching. Gives a 14-year-old a bit of sophistication without going too far. I even like the messy yet charming hair.

    • TSkot

Another photoshopped model?  Look at those legs compared to the rest of her.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      Aw.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Kudos to you, Ariel Winter, whoever you are. This one is from “Modern Family,” maybe? All those children from the Disney shows and Little Liar and Secrets and whatnot look exactly alike. Odd. Maybe they should add a category to some awards show for brunette cute girls with round faces who could be related to Mila Kunis.

      • anotherEloise

        1000 likes!

    • formerlyAnon

Very Valerie Bertinelli vibe to her, although the fashions, if I recall correctly, did not allow Ms. Bertinelli many clothes so well-suited to her figure as this would have been.

    • guest2visits

Although I like the longer length for the model; the shorter skirt is really cute on Ariel, she’s very pretty.
I don’t really like giant sofa prints; but it works for her.

    • another_laura

She is adorable, but I really dislike the print on that dress.  Like the shape, the straps, but that print is yuck.

    • clairellis

      SSuper adorable.

      Betsy Johnson prints circa 1992.
