Jaime King in Proenza Schouler

Posted on May 18, 2012

It’s been very Cannes-y and gown-y around these parts lately, so let’s amuse our bouches and close out the week with something a little less high-falutin’, shall we?

Jaime King attends The CW Network’s New York 2012 Upfront in NYC in Proenza Schouler. Mesh sandals by  Giuseppe Zanotti.

Proenza Schouler Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Kinga Rajzak

Giuseppe Zanotti Mesh Sandal

 NO.

Oh, sorry. That was kind of immediate and definitive, wasn’t it? It just sort of slipped out. Of our fingertips.

That skirt is fabulous – in fact, that whole look is fabulous – but we really don’t think this works on her, in this setting. You can hike that skirt right up to your underboob, honey. Still doesn’t change the fact that you went to a party in a fancy bra. And it’s not a pool party or a beach party.

Put her in South Beach next to a pool and a DJ and she’d look fabulous, but first she’d have to lower that skirt to a more flattering level, the way God – and Proenza Schouler, obviously – intended it to be; ditch those ladylike shoes for something a little more fun, totally rethink the hair and makeup, slap on some costume jewelry, and spray on a light coat of paint.

So in essence, our initial response turned out to be the correct one. Funny how that works.

No. No no no no no.

  • momogus

I don’t think the skirt is too high – I think the bra is tooooooo low.

    • kimmeister

I think it’s a little bit of both.  On the model, there are about 5 inches separating them, whereas on her, there’s only about an inch and a half.

    • mom2ab

      Exactly.

    • drdirection

If she actually stood up straight, her boobs would fall out!

      • drdirection

well, she’s not exactly slouching. but if she happened to pull her shoulders back…

    • funkypeanut

Honey, you’re too young to have drooped that much. Pull up the bra to where your boobs are naturally, which is not somewhere around your waist.

    • GorgeousThings

Yup. That bra band is too big and it’s slipping down to her waist. She needs to get it fitted (i.e. taken in). One wrong move and the whole world gets an eyeful.

  • http://profiles.google.com/melantha.chimera Eileen Duffy

The top looks like it’s falling down her torso. :(

    • norseofcourse

      Slither bra syndrome. So sad.

    • MoHub

Serious sag there. The top need some boning and a tighter fit in the back to keep itself and the girls hoisted.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1355527007 Rain Jezek

The skirt may be fitted just about where it’s supposed to be, and the bust piece is just super-low. This isn’t the right look to go out sans support in that area. Personally, I think that if it was a one-piece dress rather than two-piece beachwear, it’d be really cute. Well, if she pulled the bust piece up a bit.

  • Rand Ortega

HAHAHAHA! That top looks like bandaids on 2 mosquito bites! W/ the adhesive failing!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=713709401 Randy Noak

    hate it

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i like the skirt a lot. it reminds me of an old fiorucci [of course]. then again, so might the bandeau–but that would be a later, 80s, semi-worthless fiorucci….. but together, at a formal thing, it just goes nowhere near the mark it’s supposed to hit. it’s like that mark is in another room. i think the shoes work a little better than you think the shoes work but, by this point, we’re splitting teensy tinsy little hairs. also: they went w/ a print that wild & they couldnt figure out anything else to do w/ it but plants? but that’s just me.

    Um…  Her bracelet’s cute?

  • susan6

That top is definitely too low.  A woman that young shouldn’t have saggy boobs, but that’s what it looks like.  Hike that thing up.

  • fungstyle

a formal bra with NO SUPPORT. what’s the point? just go with the tape like gaga if you’re going to be all drooptastic.

  • schadenfreudelicious

if the desired optical illusion is that your breasts and waist meet at the same place i would say she succeeded…..

  • marilyn

That outfit would work perfectly at a party on a yacht in the harbor.  Trendy, weird, a touch of the oddball Euro fashion look.  Her lack of tan might even be okay.   Aren’t there a lot of parties on yachts at Cannes?  She would be fine, in a pouty Euro-way.  However, this does not work for a RC event.   I actually like the shoes.  I like them better than the runway model’s.  Perhaps if this were a party on a yacht, she would need wacko shoes for effect.

  • 3boysful

Pool or beach is right–it’s a bra and a sarong, for Pete’s sake!

Neither  piece fits–bra too low, skirt too high.  Fail.

    • Judih1

      PREACH

  • janetjb

Jaime – sorry about your bosom.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UXQWW72ST3LHXVPD4TYD4FCZ2U Susan

I understand this problem all too well.  It looks like, like me, she’s got the double whammy of being short-waisted and her boobs sit low on her torso.  I feel for her.

  • egl48

The bra is low.  It makes her look saggy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2066192 Melissa Mellon

Her falutin’ is much, much too low.

  • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

    Why are her boobs melting?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jane-Morris/1076502799 Jane Morris

I can’t seem to post a link, but everyone here will enjoy the hell out of “Celebrities Who Look Like Mattresses” . I suppose you can google it to find it. The queen is in there.  Everyone here, including Tom and Lorenzo, will be very entertained.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

Thank you so much for that lead. How funny. Since it was done in England, a lot of the celebrities are unrecognizable here. I wish they had labeled them.

  • LJoRey

Her wardrobe is about to malfunction, poor thing. But thanks for the break from the Cannes-y and gown-y tiresomeness.

  • Celandine1

LMAO cause when I saw the pic my first thought was “NO.” And the bra top looks like it is gonna slide down any minute. The shoes are so much nicer than those clodhoppers the model is wearing. The skirt is super cute for a casual summer poolside party or on vacation.

  • Qitkat

The skirt is less too high than the bra is way too low.
Although she’s really cute, what an odd outfit for NYC.

  • Jessi03

Pick up your top, child!  It’s about to fall around your waist!  Straps could have helped?  Or a proper fitting?

  • Glammie

Jaime, sweetie, I get it, not everybody’s got good posture and pecs.  That’s why they make strapless underwire bras.  A good bra is your friend–your close friend.  C’mon help out the girls with some support.

*Then* try out that silly blue top and we’ll talk.

    • A Reeves

She really needs to get in touch with her proportions. I totally sympathize, I’ve the same.

  • http://twitter.com/jessicapippin Jessica Pippin

    The girls look so sad.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

    Her top sits too low.

  • MilaXX

Pool party, yes. For an industry RC, no. In addition to The Lo’s critiques, the top is sitting a little low on her boobs.

  • BrooklynBomber

“No” may have slipped out, but “ix-nay” was my first thought, so I can’t fault you at all. What the hell is that, after all?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XX3UUXUSBZGZQ4MKNADAMYTADE Mrs

Not just lower the skirt but also hike up that bra.  All these stylish people whose strapless dresses and tops look like they’re sliding down the ribcage on the way to the waistline make me wary of trying anything strapless on my own.

  • kckris

Y’all ended the week on an ugly.

  • another_laura

gaaa!  no no no no no no no

  • Anathema_Device

it just isn’t working at all for me. I’m having sympathetic boob clench just watching that thing ooch down her torso.

  • theblondette

Haha, before I even scrolled to your comments I thought “NO.” Quite the natural reaction.

  • http://twitter.com/londonpenguin Teresa M.

    NO!

  • Sophie Collier

Are girlfriend’s tits hanging low or is that an illusion created by the higher waist on the skirt?  Whatever it is, it is making me sad.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

these are verging on national geographics tits

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

She’s got the wrong boobs for that top…. Sorry….

    • Lisa_Cop

Poor girl has the boobs (obviously real) of a skinny 50 yr. old.

  • guest2visits

NO! - my first response too.  But it’s because nothing is sadder then bandeau tops. Bad for the beach and worse for trying to
pass for a legitimate piece of clothing.  Nothing is sadder than a garment that looks like it is slowly traveling ever downward.
I love the skirt, and the model’s choice of shoe.

Love the skirt, hate everything else. Never thought I’d say this but yank your top up for decendy’s sake!

  • paintedfish

and pull up your dang top! I feel a nipple coming on any second now.

  • Louise Bryan

    Nice outfit.  WRONG setting!!!

PS Daughter says, “That’s not her color. It looks awful.”

  • Lina_bee

Well, if the bra fit, it might work, but the band’s clearly too loose & no amount of hoisting is going to keep it up without double-sided tape encircling her back. I like that she chose something fun and flirty. CW upfronts have such an open dress code that it’s hard to ding her for whether it’s event appropriate. And yet…this really just doesn’t seem like her outfit at all.

  • quiltrx

She looks HORRIBLY thin.  I’ve always thought she was so beautiful–she looks downright gaunt here.  And the outfit (groan) is making it much worse.

  • fiestyfashionfem

No – sweetie.  But that model scares the fballs out of me.  The whole thing ain’t right. On either of them.  Bless their hearts.

  • MzzPants

The skirt is resting at her natural waistline, but that BRA…how is she not popping a nipple out of that thing?  Needs to be much closer to the pits.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

that bra is resting at her natural waistline as well.

  • MzzPants

The skirt is resting at her natural waistline, but that BRA…how is she not popping a nipple out of that thing?  Needs to be much closer to the pits.

  • lifetime_student

Is that a bra-top, or a really wide belt that covers her nipples?

  • butterflysunita

    NO.

  • GTrain

all kinds of NO. That top is just ridiculous on her.

  • SatelliteAlice

    NO!  That is….no.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

The bra is wayyyyy too low. Bad. Wrong. No.

  • kcarb1025

    Who? And gross.

  • http://jenuwefa.myopenid.com/ Jenuwefa

Do these girls really not have friends….or a MIRROR, FFS???

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I like the shoes. Is she really long-bodied? It’s odd to have the bra slipping so far down on a woman who seems to have pretty perky boobs.

  • Veronica1022

Love the commentary. Also that top provides no support. BTW: have you thought about having the TLO FAS Awardv(Fabulous AS Shit. Kind of like a PR ology of a designer but with a celebs RCA appearances for the year and let the BK’s vote le the vixen virgin cage match?

  • cmb92191

It looks like something the fly girls would have worn on In LIving Color

  • Ceur

I just see a chest. It’s inappropriate, even if it’s a pretty chest. I can’t believe she felt comfortable going out like this.

  • Rachel Patterson

It wouldn’t be that bad if the bustiere wasn’t sitting so low.  She just doesn’t have the figure to pull this one off!

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

seriously, it looks like her boobs have deflated and are sagging down to her waist.

  • PeaceBang

WHAT? She went to an event in that!? I love the shoes on the model, btw.

  • TieDye64

ACK, I just want to hike up that bra for her! It’s causing some serious eye twitching over here. She actually wore this on purpose? On the red carpet? WTF?

  • http://twitter.com/thisiscarlijn Carlijn Kruidhof

Why does it always seem like bra tops like that sit way too low? PULL THE DAMN THING UP.

  • LambeeBaby

Is the dress to high or are her boobs too low? I also think that showing your midriff at a setting other than poolside is tacky.

  • Lisa

NO.  Head To Toe No.  This outfit is stinkin’ up the room.

  • annrr

You forgot do something to pull your rack up three inches. There is literally 12 inches of skin between her chin and the top of that bra. Not flattering.

    • annrr

I typed first then read the rest of the comments, apparently I am on the same page as everyone else.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Her bra looks like it is made of Boob Awnings.

  • Melissa Brogan

I like the shoes. Not with the outfit, just in general. That’s the nicest thing I can say about this mess.

  • kikisayshi

LOVE that skirt! The rest has got to go.

  • Beardslee

I’m with you, though I’m not sure I’d like this in any setting.  It looks too structured and stiff for lounging in.

  • mozzer0906

She also needs to hike up her bra so it doesn’t look like her tits are trying to bow out of the photos in shame…

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

    nooooooo
