In or Out: Kristen Stewart in Preen

Posted on May 16, 2012

Y’know, we think K Stew might have found her perfect look. No, really.

Kristen Stewart at the ‘Snow White And The Huntsmen’ press  conference in England in a Preen dress paired with Casadei shoes.

Pren Pre-Fall 2012 Collection/Model: Marique Schimmel

Casadei ‘Blade Heel’ Pump

We think this looks pretty spectacular on her and we think it’s got just enough of an edge to it to suit her. She looks comfortable and pleased with herself. Bright colors not only suit her; they help her.

But we know how opinionated the minions can get when it comes to her (y’all wouldn’t shut up about her in that Marchesa dress yesterday) so we’re putting this one up to a vote. Besides, there are a few things that nibble at our sense of perfection. We wouldn’t have recommended those shoes, for one. They’re awfully bridesmaid-y in that color. Also, the much-shortened length of the skirt throws off the proportions, making the waist look oddly placed.

Still, it’s a hell of an attention-getter overall. The kind of dress that would cause photographers to shove children out of their way.

Vote Now!

IN! All that color and edge is making her smile! Sort of!

OUT! My eyes can’t take much more of this.

Charlize’s  poorly conceived sheer + granny panties ensemble was pretty definitively voted OUT.

  • I like the dress, but she looks hung over with the bed head hair and the no makeup and not in a cool way.

    • Yeah – she’s looking like she just got up from an all night bender.  out

      • Glammie

True, but the dress is cute–so IN for the dress out for the make-up.  She’s a naturally pale girl, so to pull off orange she needed some help.

        • Candigirl1968

And for some reason, she seems to have a bluish tinge – bad lighting perhaps?   Also, I’m not sure whether it’s her slouching and/or hands-in-pocket stance, but strangely seems a bit frumpy shortened.

I would kill to see this dress on Zoe Saldana.

          •  White skin + open shade (cyan/blue light) = deathface. Gal should insist on a mixed silver/gold reflector.

    • cluecat

“No makeup” as in minimal, non-red carpet makeup, or literally no makeup?  Because I see eyeliner, shading, lip color, foundation and blush.  Just not very much of it!

      • AmandaCathleen

Yeah, honestly I think part of it is the lighting, especially in that last shot. Because as someone who occasionally suffers from dark circles herself, I know that there are times when no amount of concealer will help. She should’ve tilted her head up a bit, it would’ve helped lessen the shadows.

    • Violina23

Yes! The dress looks great, but she just looks so pale and washed out. And unhappy, but that’s par for the course, I suppose.

    • AmandaCathleen

SO true. And what a shame! I think from the neck down, this is the best she’s ever looked. I even LIKE the shorter length of the dress. But the hair/makeup situation is tragic. What kind of a stylist would let her out looking like that??

But still. Baby steps. I give this a resigned IN.

      • mlle

I like the shorter length when she’s not messing up the lines of the dress by shoving her hands in her pockets.

    •  I bet she doesn’t just *look* hung over….

      • terekirkland

Yes, I’m willing to bet she smells hung over, too. 😛

    • You mean last nights make up?

      • Twinzilla

        And day-before-yesterday hair.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

OMG I agree with you so much.  I like but don’t love the dress (get your hands out of your pockets!), and the shoes are killer, but the hair and makeup as usual kill it for me.  OUT.

  • She looks so incredibly tired!

  • Gorgeous.

  • She has dark circles under her eyes.  Who does her makeup that they couldn’t have fixed that?

    • Jecca2244

I have to agree with you. I get horrendous circles, but when attended to by a professional (and the studio should be paying for one for her) they basically disappear.

  • chelwi

I’m going to say IN. The dress is pretty and those are great colors on her. Poor girl looks exhausted though.

    • demondoll

Exhausted, but I still say IN

  • Joanna Schuth

She looks too exhausted for me to focus on anything else.

  • guestela

in. love the dress. can forgive the matchy-match shoes.

but i do wish she would take her hands out of her pockets. really messes with the shape of the skirt.

  • should have kept the length of the skirt.  Shoes are ok.  She looks like who did what and ran.  I am tired of this girl.

  • Heather Sheridan

I think she should get the same admonishment boy stars get, take you hands out of your pockets for pictures honey.

Also, a little under eye concealer might be a plus, she’s starting to look like me.

  • Laurie Bergman

The dress on its own is gorgeous, but it’s not her dress.  I see it on a Dianna Agron type. The word that came to mind when I saw the first photo was “consumptive.”

  • Paigealicious

Dress and shoes look great…but she looks like she needs a nap!

  • OUT. For me this is just not her dress.

  • EditKitten

I’d be fine with it if she weren’t shoving her hands down her dress far enough to be doing herself some personal favors.

  • Love the dress, but that hair and makeup is sad.

  • MzzPants

Did she have a rough night or what?  Otherwise, she looks fab.  IN.

  • The ensemble is fab.  but sister needs to rethink the under-eye situation/make up?

  • Hetha Innis

I love it on her! Even with hands in pockets, it’s super flattering. Poor dear looks like a drug addict from the neck up though.

  •  “She looks comfortable and pleased with herself.”  No, she doesn’t.  She looks hung over.

    • PhillyJen

Agreed. Though, I guess that could be her pleased with herself face. It’s so rare she makes an actual expression I can’t really tell.

  • siriuslover

I guess it’s an In, but her look is the one she wore on the Jay Leno show last week. That looked good on her.

  • In! She looks great, and wonder of wonders, could that be a (tiny gasp) smile gracing her face? Honestly, I think this is a terrific choice for her, and I love the color of her shoes with this dress.

  • Haley Buchanan

IN.  Pretty!  She always looks a little “meh” to me, but this is a big step in the right direction.  That purpley blue and orange is always a great color combo, and I’m a bit surprised but it really suits her well.

  • TheOriginalLulu

It’s a great dress on her. Love the colors.
My question is why does she always look so TIRED? What is she, like 20? Why does she always have bags under her eyes?
Kristen honey, get some sleep. Your 40-year old self will thank you.

  • fireontiger

In, but next time, maybe some caffeine before the event?

  • MK03

Feh. I don’t think the color suits her at all.

And honey, it won’t kill you to smile. Promise.

  • janetjb

She looks as if she’s been out all night, but it all works.  In.

  • Her makeup is awful, but that outfit is to die. IN.

  • mmc

IN.  I don’t mind the shoes.  I do mind the brassy “buckle” on the belt and prefer the one on the model.

I’ve concluded that girl does not photograph well.

  • OUT. Anyone can put on a cute dress. Kristen, you’ve got to try a little harder than that!

And BTW, she always gives off a “I don’t care about being famous” vibe… but she has been acting since she was a child. In crappy kids movies. She can’t be in it for her “craft”. Play the game!

  • the dress is truly fab, but she really needs to invest in some under-eye make-up or, better yet, some eye treatments. or maybe just sleep and vitamins, i dunno. something must be done…

  • Pants_are_a_must

I’m sorry, dress what? Shoes who? I can’t get over the lack of make up and hair work in this look. She seriously, seriously needs to find herself a gay (as T&Lo often say) who will attack her face with industrial strength fab. She’s an international movie star, not a sophomore on finals week.

OUT on account of me being sick and tired of her hangover shtick. YOU’RE IN A MOVIE WITH CHARLIZE THERON. MAKE AN EFFORT.

    • AngelaGreen

Every time I saw the trailer and the mirror was telling the Queen Snow White was going to be fairer, I just pictured Theron laughing hysterically, then saying “Bitch, please.”

  • J MN

IN.  It suits her and I don’t mind the shorter length, I think longer like the model and it wouldn’t have been her look.  As for the dark circles under her eyes – this is a big movie opening and she’s been in as many countries as days lately.  Agreed to the needed concealer and should be there already.

  • It’s super cute! She could use a little concealer, or maybe a nap, though.

  • Love the look, love the shoes. But the colour brings out the worst in the pale skin, I got worried looking at her. That aside, IN.

  • Vaniljekjeks

It’s in, because she looks great from the neck down.  But the girl looks haggard!  She needs a piece of cake and a nap (and a lot of concealer).

    • Anathema_Device

I know. I was going to make a vampire joke but I thought it was too obvious. Girl looks very tired.

  • mom2ab

I dunno- she always looks like someone dragged her out of bed with an epic hangover shoved her in clothes and told her look at the camera.  Just not feeling it- OUT

  •  I don’t think she looks comfortable, but then, she so rarely does. Great dress though.

  • frannyprof

I can’t get past her face. So over this girl.

  • Anathema_Device

In. I really like that dress on her, and it is such a surprise to see her in something like this and look good in it. Her hair and makeup aren’t working, though, but i can overlook that. The shoes are meh, not horrible, but a muted silver sandal would have been better.

  • alex mallard

Her face looks like she was just beaten up. It ruins a fantastic dress that actually looks good on her.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      You nailed it.  Thank you.

  • Kate4queen

IN. She looks happy and comfortable and that’s a vast improvement 🙂

  • Rrroza

IN. Fantastic dress. She does look exhausted or ill. Maybe time of the month? If so, no amount of concealer would help, really.

  • Meaghan Campbell-Payne

I am IN LOVE with that dress. IN. (But agree with first commenter about her looking hung over. Ugh.)

  • SusiePamudji

IN all the way. The colors are amazing on her. The prints really suits her, more edgy than girly.

  • marilyn

In.  My only comment is that her skin is very pale, and she needs to either work on a (faux) tan or pick softer colors to wear.

  • I need for her stand up straight. Seriously. I don’t think that’s too much to ask. IN, grudgingly, because you are right, those colors and that style do wonders for her.

  • mjude

IN, but i wonder if she ever has fun at these events?

  • Amy Ellinger

In, despite a few quibbles. Hands out of your pockets, dear. Take a nap, rehydrate, little bit of concealer, and smile (although she is smiling in other pics.)

There were quite a few pics of her smiling in the Marchesa at other websites- is it an availability issue that those didn’t make it here?  I don’t understand the process of how y’all get the red carpet type pics for use here- y’know, if you can only get them from certain sources or whatnot.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

The clothes look great but girlfriend needs a nap. IN from the neck down.

  • BazoDee

OUT – the proportions are too off kilter. It isn’t very flattering in the waist. The belt/buckle doesn’t help. I do like the colors though. Go Broncos!

  • Judy_S

I like the look overall, including the length and the shoes. She just looks so pale and tired.

  • BeeBeauNYC

IN – I don’t love the shoes, but it’s a minor quibble. She looks fantastic here, and my God, a million times better than that feckakta Marchesa car wreck of a dress.

  • Srw27

Cute dress, but oooh GURL!  That hair is awful!  And why does your makeup look like it was applied with a spackling tool?  OUT

  • up with pod people

I preferred the longer length but I say In for that bold colour choice. And I WANT THOSE SHOES. In the orange, please.

  • IN – for the dress and shoes.  Her hair and makeup are awful though.

  • Out.It feels like it overpowers her skin. I don’t want to use the term “washes her out” but somehow it does.

And I hate that no one bothered to brush her hair.

  • Innnnnnn.  Omg has she ever got LEGS.

  • In, definitely! I mean, of course she looks tired (but still beautiful), she’d been doing a few straight days of interviews by this point, all after having flown from New York to London post MET Gala…my point is that for everyone saying “omg, she looks so tired”—you’d look tired, too.

    • 3boysful

Well of course she’s exhausted, and we would look it, too, but I’m betting most of the minions don’t have access to the makeup magicians K-Stew does, PLUS, most of us minions own a hairbrush!

  • sweetlilvoice

In even though she looks exhausted and dead.  Great color combo.

  • Char Crop

    Definitely IN!

  • I LOVE IT. IN.

  • Imasewsure

I like the length because it’s a mini without being a gyno-mini…. shoes are a no…. bags under the eyes are kind of endearing…

  • phrenk

She looks lovely, I vote IN.

  • She’s not exhausted, she’s working the vampire look!  I just looked at the first Twilight book in my daughter’s room:  deathly pale – check.  Dark circles under eyes – check.  Not in the sunlight so she doesn’t need to sparkle.  Inhumanly gorgeous with red or black eyes … well, never mind.

  • Larkin21

Other than putting on a very cute dress, it looks like she’s not trying. At all. Out.

  • In, though I agree on the proportions. As to the shoes, I think this is a hard dress to accessorize. I would have gone with black, but that’s my normal go-to shoe color when I’m wearing a lot of color in the outfit. Overall, though, she looks young and pretty and pulled together. I don’t even mind the bed-hair – it’s kind of her thing.

  • BrooklynBomber

Cute dress. I guess her charm is the irony of putting a tomboy in girly clothes.

  • ChristySchiff

I love this dress (even shortened), but this isn’t her look.  She always looks too pissed off for pretty dresses.  She should just go for “kick-ass”, rather than pretty.  I think she does that really well.

Plus that look goes better with not brushing hair.

  • annrr

I think the dress and shoes are fab, judging from the rest her, she was up most of the night partying at that castle and got caught doing a walk of shame. So snaps to the dress for going the distance, it still looks great despite being slept in.

  • aimee_parrott

I’m going to say IN.  I like the colors on her, but wish she’d taken her hands out of her pockets.  Poor thing clearly needs a nap, though.  She looks exhausted.

  • Susan Crawford

IN for the dress (awesomeness!) and the shoes (ultra-awesomeness!) but still teetering on an OUT for KStew’s messy hair and need for under-eye concealer. And POSTURE, girl! Please, starlets, can you stand UP, shoulders back, spine properly aligned? Pretty please?

  • Spicytomato1

This is miles better than that Marchesa monstrosity. The colors are just stunning. I’m tired just imagining her pole dance schedule so I’m willing to cut her some slack. IN.

  • LOVE this!

If only she could have paired the hair and make up from the Marchesa with it…

  • In! She looks tired, but then again I have constant bags under my eyes so I’ll shut up. The shoes and the dress are adorable.

  • Marissa Wiley

That outfit is cute as HELL.  Fashion aside, she looks like a corpse.  It’s very her.  IN.

  • RebeccaKW

I definitely think it should be longer.  The dress, really, is fine and she looks good in it.  HOWEVER.  That hair is inexcusable.  That’s not just ‘ooh, it’s windy today!’ hair.  That is dirty, unbrushed hair and she looks like she’s been awake for 2 days.  Why wear a fabulous dress and let the rest of you look like you haven’t slept or showered?  I guess the dress on her is an In, but I am giving her an out for ruining the look with a dirty head.

  • halleygee

It doesn’t matter what she wears, she always looks like a junkie to me.

  • altalinda

Cute dress, but she’s still earned an OUT for slouching, not getting enough sleep or combing her hair, and wearing that put-upon expression.

  • TieDye64

    The dress in IN.

  • She looks like she just woke up and didn’t bother to brush her hair or wipe off last night’s mascara. Dress is cute but it should have been longer.  Agree the shortness throws off the waistline.

  • paintedfish

In! a much better use of lace overlays.

  • judybrowni

IN: Take your hands out of your pockets, dear, brush your hair and get some sleep.

  • EEKstl

IN, cute as hell dress. Typical K Stew puss: OUT.

  • belfebe

IN.  But she needs to smile.

  • fungstyle

i agree with the rest of the rabble – the dress is great but dear lord honey: get some sleep and a new make-up artist.

  • In_Stitches

She looks like Gollum and that dress isn’t helping.  She’s normally a gorgeous girl with a unique, if dour, charm, but she’s looking haggard here.  The dress’ brightness only highlights her grey skin and sunken eyes.  After a solid 10 hour rest, it might be perfect for her, but right now it isn’t doing her any favors.  OUT.

  • SewingSiren

I like the original better, longer length and no belt. And I don’t like pointy toe stiletto shoes with short tight dresses. Still In, though

  • HK4Seven

She doesn’t look hungover- she looks high.  Hair is tragic, makeup is non-existent.  I do love the dress though, especially compared to yesterday’s mess.  IN. If I have to choose.

  • j_anson

OUT on the HAIR ALONE, Jesus Christ.

  • AlieMichelle

What is going on with her face lately? She looks so tired! Sweetie needs some sleep.

  • Sara__B

I like the belted dress. It suits her body. I don’t like the shoes, hair, or makeup. A teeny tiny in for choosing such a great dress.

  • Gators color scheme aside, I think she looks great. In!

  • holdmewhileimnaked

there is no doubt, i dont think, that this dress looks pretty great on her. yep, they shoulda lowered the waistband as they raised the hem–since they didnt just shorten it but, instead, remade the whole dress, i dont know why they didnt. but thats less her fault than the house o’ preen. i gotta say this is probably the first dress of theirs that i ever actually liked. good colorway, here.

i always like her, i would say i dont know why but in this case i do: even if she hadnt played joan jett she would forever remind me of one of the joan girls, the ones who used to dress up as joan/suzi quatro & follow the former, if not the latter, around. & since she wasnt very famous at the time, joan, everyone knew everyone else. i dont know how to explain this in current terms, i dont think it would be possible; otoh, just about every time i see this one, i remember. so theres that.

  • Wellworn

Everything in except her face.  Make up could have improved that hung over look.

  • In. Love it!

  • Kirsten Henry

  • MilaXX

OUT – This was was ruined by the details. The original length was much better and the shoes look cheap. She also needs her hair combed badly.

  • JMansm

I’m always a big fan of her hair, but she really needs some makeup – she looks tired. Dress is cute and I agree about the shoes. IN.

  • She looks “exhausted” in every single photograph of her. Is there something that causes it, other than what causes “exhaustion” in most young female stars?

  • Lina_bee

OUT. The orange and blue are so stark against her super-pale skin that she looks ill & the off proportions bother me a LOT.

  • She looks exhausted and ready to nap. Sorry but OUT!

  • In. Now go take a few advil, drink some water and sleep off your hang over.

  • Re: Hair and [lack of] makeup: Maybe she thought she was on the set for the next vampire movie.

  • kimmeister

I like the idea of the dress on her, but I’m not sure.  She looks preternaturally pale, almost blue, and that’s the fault of the orange of the dress.  I know she’s pale anyway, and the lighting and makeup aren’t doing her any favors, but even her arms look blue here, and I don’t usually think that when I see her.

  • Penny Lane

She probably looks tired because she has jet lag. You don’t get over an 8 hour time difference overnight.

  • Love the dress, but wish she would do something about her facial expression.  And her skin looks grey.

  • OUT for her, but I like the dress.
    – Bitter Kittens Against KStew

  • Maybe it’s the shadows but she looks bluish…but IN

  • kingderella

its a spectacular dress and i love the shoes. IN!
still cant stand her, though. and shes looking a little corpsy in her face, isnt she?

  • Out. the dress is cute, but not that cute, and she looks like she hasn’t slept in months. She always just looks so snotty and pleased with herself, while showing up looking like she threw things on after rolling out of bed.

  • Ali

IN! She looks super cute (covet that dress myself!). The shoes aren’t that great, but that’s a minor quibble. This is a good look for her.

  • I covet that dress, and the shoes in orange are killer. Even with her bender face, she’s still IN. Well played, KStew.

  • Ali

Well, she has had a rather busy schedule, they way they pounded out those Twilight movies one right after the other – promoting while filming, etc. And then she signed onto this as well. She does seem to be pretty busy. I would actually believe she’s exhausted-tired, rather than “exhausted” with her schedule. Although I don’t know if I’d be sure enough to bet money, ha.

  • sherrietee

She looks like her allergies are killing her, but so do I.  IN.

  • A_Rimbaud

    IN, personal best for her.

  • meridian5

In, but please girlfriend, find some sun.

  • love the dress.
    she looks stoned.

  • jessicasac

It’s not quite as lovely as the runway version, it’s a bit too short on kstew, just barely. It doesn’t give her the hour glass figure she out to have.

  • Out. She looks sickly, but then she always looks like she a relapsing case of tuberculosis.

  • Dr. Derf van der Derf

I like it. I like her too for that matter. She is lazy with hair styling, I am too, I get it.

  • Bexatrix

Wow.  I hate everything about this.  OUT and let’s speak no more about this.

  • Love the dress and the shoes- Preen is a great brand for her. Even though she looks so grossly tired and the hands shoved inconceivably deep in the pockets ruins the shape, IN for the fashion choices. (out for hair, makeup, posture, attitude.)

  • kikisayshi

Dress: IN. Looking like you just rolled out of bed and put on awesome dress but forgot to brush your hair or put on (at least) some lip gloss (or concealer for that matter): WAY OUT! So I guess my vote is a wash.

  • Dhammadina

The dress looks turned inside out. And she doesn’t look all that well in that second photo  –are her eyes unfocused?

  • The dress is beautiful & the shoes a touch bridesmaid-y, but all the couture in the world can’t seem to help her look like anything other as someone who’s strung out and been awake for 36 hours sans hygiene products.  This is an excellent job on the neck downward, but can someone please go to town on the neck upwards?  Out; she just always looks as though she smells terrible.

  • Elena

    A million times IN.

  • I should give her an out for having her hands crammed into her pockets, but I’ll let it slide.

  • Aly Light

I like it. Still can’t stand her, but it’s IN.

  • calimon

The dress is IN. She, on the other hand, is clearly OUT (of it)!

  • Rand Ortega

Cute outfit but she looks high & tired.

    • Agreed. She is a young, pretty girl that needs help with make-up!

  • CassandraMortmain

You know, child, you’re not really a vampire so you don’t have to try to look like one.   All joking aside, she looks ill or strung out.  It’s hard for me to give anyone an in when they look like they should be in bed with an IV hooked up to their arm.  If she hadn’t shortened the dress and replaced the belt with one with a big, ugly focus-pulling buckle, it would have been a lot better.  The shoes are fine.  OUT.

  • She does not look happy, but I WANT THAT DRESS. So, in.

  • CatherineRhodes

OUT. The dress was ruined with the shortened hem.

  • Take your hands out of your pockets, smile, and for the love of god, stand up straight! I just want to poke her between her shoulder blades and hiss at her, like my mother used to do to me.

The dress would look better longer – it would define her waist more. For such a slender thing, she looks really boxy in this dress. But it could be because she has her hands in her bloody pockets and she’s slouching.

  • howdoilook

Everything looks cute neck-down, but neck-up is YEESH.

  • prettybigkitty

In.  She looks adorable, and she knows it.

  • AngelaGreen

She looks good in the dress, but why does she always look so fucking miserable?  No one forced you to be an actor!

    • 3boysful

Seriously!  The dress IS adorable, but does she have on ANY makeup?  Doesn’t someone in her orbit own a hairbrush?!

  • kelsita421

Kinda can’t stand her and she looks like a half-zombie, but cute outfit. A mumbled IN from me.

  • I may be in the minority here but I don’t like it. The proportions seem off and her hair looks messy.

  • In.  Love her.

  • Orange Girl

IN for sure.  The colors look great on her. She looks so exhausted, I almost feel bad for her.

  • man, does she look tired.  Maybe the color is to help perk her up.  I am exhausted just looking at her.

  • jenawesome

Absolutely in.  I wouldn’t have though she’s a girl who can pull off orange, but she totally does.

  • I’m going to give her a one-time pass on the styling and rule this an IN. I think this is probably the best she’s ever looked, even with the sneer. It’s a cute dress and I think it suits her better than the gowns do.

  • Cute. She just needs a little more color on her face to make it pop – she’s looking a little faded and washed out compared to all that bright. But I’ll give it an IN.

    • And the hair is tons better than it’s been. Looks like it might have been windy out, causing it to be mussed, but no frizzy bird’s nest in sight.

  • rafraf25

IN for the dress & semi-smile even though her face is looking tragic under the eyes. Don’t like the shoes

  • Jennifer Hofstetter

    I like it. IN.

  • It’s fine as a look but i have to say out for her being such a pitiable creature all the time. Get over it girl! OUT!!

  • dramamajor

    I think she looks fantastic!

  • Poor thing, she needs to get IN the bed. Those bags under her eyes are sad. I think the dress is cute, but her gray appearance is overshadowing the effect of the dress.

  • jw_ny

I like the length of the dress on her…it’d been dowdy on her if longer.  Shoes…yes, bridesmaid-y.

It’s nice to see her in fun and vibrant colors…kind of makes her skin tone take on a purplish hue though…

  • demidaemon

IN. She looks cute, but it would be much easier to giveher an enthusiastic IN if she would just damn smile a little.

  • in!  she finally looks well, as in healthy.  i agree, a little longer might make her waist not look so high and, yes, the shoes are matchy-matchy, but really, she looks lovely.

At first I hated this dress, but really; you’re so right. This is a dress to be seen and photographed in.  And the length would
have been so much better if she’d have let it be.    The first thing I notice though, is how tired she looks.
(And I hope this gets to be a trend; pics in front of beautiful places)

  • elleg929

OUT – it is uncomfortable for me to look at her be uncomfortable.  I think she should stop “acting” if she clearly hates her life this much.

  • tired_mommy

In. Her eyes are making me tired…must go nap…

  • In, no question.

  • jennifervney

In. Love the dress and shoes, although the make up needs work. Or she needs more sleep.

  • poggi

Kristen:  In. I like the dress, but she could use a little more color on her face.

Shrub:  Out.  Too big and suspicious looking.  I am pretty sure that Grimace is hiding behind it waiting for a chance to steal someone’s milkshake.

    Milkshakes: In.

  • ZnSD

girls looks BEAT! whew – miss thing, time to lay off the party favors. you’re lookin’ all kindsa brokedown palace.

  • SapphoPoet

Yes, a much better look than the other dresses. This really suits her. Although a good night’s sleep and a hairbrush would suit her even better.

  • Vodeeodoe

The shape is great, but I personally don’t think those colors work on her. Also her stoned eyes really don’t work with how perky that dress looks.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

IN, I guess, but this dress would look better a few inches longer.

  • Vodeeodoe

In addition, I hate pockets on fitted dresses. What are you going to put in there, a tic tac?

  • ChaquitaPhilly

Why is her skin so odd looking? Kind of a lavender color. Is it just from the photos?
    Looks like a “special effect”.
Love the dress, though. She COULD be happier about it. Probably upset about the skin color thing.

  • IN. Also, the contrast between those very blue shoes and her very pale skin is really striking to me. Especially after after seeing so much awful fake tan on the RC for so many years.

  • IN – as long as she keeps her hands out of the freaking pockets. Great dress, great colours, prefer the dress on the model without the beltbuckle.

  • formerlyAnon

In. Hair & makeup aren’t impressive, but for her, this is ON FIRE.

  • Joyce VG

This is just ok to me. IN.

  • I’ll give her an “in” for the dress and heels, she looks cute. Even the bedhead doesn’t bother me. But really, she COULD have put on a little under-eye concealer.

  • suzq

In, with just another inch and a half at the hem.  Perfect.

  • She looks like a heroin addict, to be quite honest. At least attempt to cover up the under-eye circles and bags.

  • bittykitty

why hasn’t she found a makeup artist that can hide the huge dufflebags under her eyes?

  • KikiB1

She looks perpetually tired and ill-tempered….but great from the neck down!

  • joe_tey83

OUT! My eyes can’t take much more of this.

    The colours are too loud.

  • terekirkland

So they’re just gonna let her keep doing her own beauty regimen, huh? I have no idea what this girl is up to on her own time, but whatever she is doing is aging her FAST! A dress that bright makes people pay even more attention to your face, honey. Which is maybe something YOU ought to do before you go out in public. There’s this amazing stuff Garnier makes in a little roller-ball for those under-eye circles, you know!

Love the colors, and the fit on her looks like it might be better short, even if she’s ruining the lines by shoving her meathooks into her pockets. I even like the shoes with it (am I imagining things or is everyone wearing cobalt shoes this season?), but are they satin or patent like the photo below? I would love to be given a dress like this one, and someone has obviously gone out of their way to tailor it to her frame. Yet she always looks like she’s half-assing these photo ops.  Maybe that’s for the best and she’ll slowly fade from the limelight. One can hope.

    O. U. T.

  • I’m calling this an in, I don’t even mind the just-got-laid hair as much as I usually would.

  • Laylalola

She looks physically ill — I don’t know if it’s the colors on the dress or if she really is. I have to go with Out for that alone.

  • MoreShoes

It’s a cute dress but she looks tired and miserable. The dress on the model is IN. On attitude alone she is OUT.

  • In.

  • unbornfawn

Cute dress. She is taking it down several notches with the death warmed over make-up, hair and attitude. She’s so bland to begin with. The colors, which are fun make her look like one of those damn vampires in that movie series, so OUT.

  • Sophie Collier

It’s a cute little dress but those bright colors wash out a pale girl.  Those are colors for a darker lady.  The cut of it flatters the hell out of her and I see why you love it, but she looks sickly in such intense colors.

  • nannypoo

The dress is fine. It’s the greasy hair and the makeup that says “I was up all night and I don’t give a shit” that I object to.

    • carolynmo

Whole-heartedly agree. She looks great from the neck down.

  • I love that dress and I think it looks lovely. IN for the dress. Now if we could just put a different head and face on the dress, it would be perfect. Given that we can’t, it’s OUT for everything above the neck. Oh, and get your hands out of your pockets, missy. God, I’m a bitch. Sry.

  • In.  I agree with TLo that bright colors help her.  Love the dress to pieces, agree that a bit more hem would have been better, wish to high heaven she would take her hands out of her pockets.  Seriously, all clothing going on a red carpet/other photo op should have the pockets sewn closed.  She is so pale, pretty much any color could be said to “wash her out.” I think going for the crazy bright contrast works better than trying to compliment such a rare skin tone.  Her hair actually looks better here than usual, which is damned faint praise.  The relative lack of/subtlety of her makeup prevents  her from looking polished like a true movie star. Which, I strongly suspect, is exactly what she is trying to avoid.  K Stew doesn’t want to be a movie star.  She wants to be an ahk-tore. I’m going to the the movie, but I expect to have a hard time pretending that K Stew’s beauty is a threat to Evil Queen Charlize.

  • kim i

actually, i think the dress looks BETTER shortened — but her hands in her pockets distort the proportions.  and she looks 1.) hungover and/or 2.) exhausted.  the clothes are killer, though.

  • RzYoung

    love it, fierce shoes! Lovelove

  • Patricia Gillett

If this is Kristen’s perfect look, the bar is set really low for her. Is the her way of supporting the NY Mets because otherwise those colors don’t work on her at all. Both she and her stylist need to get more sleep and start fresh in the morning.

  • In.  Although she always looks exhausted.

  • Love the dress, but the color is making her look sort of gray around the gills. She looks strung out.

  • I say IN. I like the dress, but the shoes could go. Still, she looks great.

  • IN. Except for the dark circles under her eyes.

  • nancy

    IN, she is adorable here.

  • In! She looks great!

  • kcarb1025

OUT. and I still hate her face.

  • bellafigura1

She looks comfortable and pleased with herself?  She looks, as my sainted mother would say, like she’s burning the candle at both ends.

  • AWS

This girl ALWAYS looks hungover, stoned, or both.  The orange makes her look sicklier than ever.  If this were a solid purple I could see liking it.

  • SorayaS

Out. She could get away with that hair if her make up was fresh but that make up is terrible. And starlets; BLACK NAILS DO NOT GO WITH EVERYTHING. Ahem.

As for the dress, it looks tacky regardless of who would be wearing it. I think cool colours probably serve her better as that orange seems a bit harsh on her

  • benjamin478

agree about her version throwing off the proportions but IN!

  • Twinzilla

OUT.  Dirty hair and jet lag eyes.  Is that her natural skin color, or is the dress making her look grey?  I don’t get the attraction to her, and especially not here.  She looks like she has a toothache.

  • Love it, especially with her hands in the pockets!

  • girliecue

IN. Agree with every word you you guys said.

  • Louise Bryan

    *sigh*  In, I guess.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

    IN!  She looks fab.

  • Daenyx

She looks *exhausted*.  Love the dress, though; it really is great on her.  IN.

  • elzatelzabelz

OUT- I really like the dress, but the rest of the styling (per her usual) is wrong.

  • Lisa_Cop

I think she works this dress pretty well. IN!

  • momogus

I’m always uncomfortable looking at her photos, because she always looks so uncomfortable. I think this is an IN, though. I like the pockets and the kooky color combination. I’ve given up on her ever washing her hair or looking happy.

  • lucasuk82

Out. I really like the dress, but from the neck up she looks like she should be leaning out a trailer window, yelling something after her departing trick.  I don’t like the masculine cut of the belt with the lace, either.  I never feel like she looks comfortable, no matter how great the clothes or how bangin’ her body looks in them.

  • Zippypie

Close call but OUT for the overall look.  The dress is fabulous but the proportions are off in this shortened version and make her look stumpy.  And her rat nest hair???  Terrible makeup – she looks tired.  Overall, amazing color and she should definitely go for it in the future, but the just rolled out of bed hair with last night’s makeup?  Kills it.

  • lrhoff

What’s with the bags under her eyes?  She looks horrible and is doing the nice dress NO favors.  Stand up straight and get some sleep (or go to rehab)!!

  • ThaliaMenninger

I’m down with the dress and even the shoes, but her hair and her face look wretched. She’s the innest I think I’ve ever seen her and she’s still out.

  • She looks comfortable and pleased with herself.”

Wut? She looks like she always looks: like she doesn’t give two fucks–and not in the good way.

  • travelingcat

IN – love the color combo.

  • What the fuck is she so upset about. If she’s so over everything on this earth – she should just walk off it. UGH.

  • What the fuck is she so upset about. If she’s so over everything on this earth – she should just walk off it. UGH.

  • PeaceBang

Love the dress like mad, but her face and hair are not just OUT, she looks dangerously exhausted. Get some help, little lady. Take a vacation, go to rehab, do what you have to do.

  • elemspbee

Oh but the fez??? and the mop of a hair? and the skin–is the snow white movie the vampire version where we find out the prince bit her instead of kissed her, hence she comes back from the dead?

    Dress IN.

  • Girl needs a good nights sleep (or some kick-ass concealer).

  • fashionablylate

    LOVE IT!

  • It Hurt’s To Be In Love

  • Qitkat

I always feel sorry for Kris because she gets so criticized for the tired eyes with the deep shadows. Some of us are cursed with this as a permanent feature of our faces. I can look at pics of myself through the years and I have exactly the same issue. It’s hard to conceal with makeup.

I don’t care for her hairdo, but I’ll give an In because it’s a very cute dress and flattering on her.

  • No. Hands in pockets, hate the shoes and make-up, shortening ruined the overall look of the dress. OUT.

  • Jangle57

While I’m not wild about the dress it could be ok BUT she looks so pale, washed out, her hair looks like she just rolled out of bed – it drags the dress down instead of lifiting it up so OUT

  • Gorgeous. Suits her colour perfectly. The result is striking. And doesn’t she always have a moody expression? I guess I am being kind, most people describe her as a sourpuss.

  • saanrio

OUT.  If it were just the dress, I might be able to let this slide, but it isn’t.  The dress is bright — so bright it hurts.  There are ways to do bright colors without making my eyes hurt within the first five seconds.  In addition to that, though, the hair and makeup look left over from the night before, and someone needs to tell her that coming to the event still drunk from that two-day binge she was on is not a good idea.  If nothing else, a quick cold pack on the eyes and taking some time on hair and makeup to make it not look like you were just on a two-day binge would be helpful.

The girl just gets more tragic as time goes on.

  • She’s not playing a vampire anymore. She needs to get a little sun. I think all the color from the dress washes her out just a bit.

  • She always looks like she is just coming off a bender. There’s a phrase regarding horses that I’m too polite to say, but it fits this woman. I wish she would eat better, drink more water, add some softer colors to her makeup (pink? peach? anything but the stupid, outdated, heroin-chic smoky eye…) and wear something a little less cutting edge and a little classier. She just always looks like someone I would not want to sit next to on the Metro, no matter how much her clothes cost. And I would love to know if she can smile. This expression looks like “whiskey burps through the nose”. Ew.

  • funkypeanut

Why does her skin always look blue?

  • I am all for pasty, pale girls because I am one of them, but I think these colors don’t work in her favor. All I see is COLOR and PASTY. There’s too much of a contrast between her skin and her dress. I have the same coloring and hair color and I would never wear these colors. OUT.

  • Cathy S

I think she’s in. The dress looks good on her. Her hair is out though.

  • Out.  Where is her concealer???????

  • Sunshine16

If only her head was as cute & sassy as the dress, instead of drug outta bed a few minutes ago.  OUT

  • I don’t think she ever looks comfortable in front of a camera. I like the dress but she doesn’t know how to wear shoes like that. The hair is all over the place and her make up is dead. She doesn’t need a different stylist, she needs, I don’t know, a life coach? Someone to teach her to relax in herself.

  • In ! I love that she is wearing color, it really suits her.

  • Love the dress, but she is OUT.  I think I would like to see a Fanning sister in this, minus the shiny skin and horrible hair.

  • Hair and makeup are making her look like she hasn’t had a good night’s sleep, and I am not entirely sure that orange suits her. When you look at her, you see the dress first, then the face, so I would not call this a success.

  • snarkykitten

I like it, but would it kill her to smile? Sweetie, you make more money than everyone at my job combined. Stand up straight and stop looking so sulky

  • ErmengardeGreen

She looks exhausted, but it is great to see her in bright, warm colors. She should wear them more often.

  • ChristinaRi

I don’t like the addition of the metal buckle on the belt.

Also, this woman and her dead eyes just ruin any dress for me.

  • I think she looks terrible.

  • bluefish

OUT.  She looks like death warmed over.

  • Lisa Dugan

This is a lovely dress for her but she looks so tired. Travelling all over the world for a press tour can surely do that.  She does look very happy and smiley in most of the other pics during this tour, which is nice to see.

  • Liz

    Yay!  Color!!

  • Vanessak69

In. The hungover look isn’t the best but that’s kind of her thing I guess? The dress and shoes make up for it.

  • lovely; in

  • In! Poor thing looks tired, though! Get some sleep, K Stew!

  • IN. She looks funky.

  • allisankelly

This girl is half my age and has twice the baggage under her eyes as me. GIRL!, TAKE A FREAKING VACATION!!!!

Love the dress-agree they shouldn’t have shortened it. Hate the shoes-they look satin, not patent in the photo.

Seriously, Kristen. Go away for a while and get some rest.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

    In. including the shoes.

  • lilazander

Again, smug bitch-faced (nothing new or different), plus she looks hung over. The dress is not hers. OUT!
