In or Out: Eva Green in Tom Ford

Posted on May 10, 2012

We featured Eva yesterday and said that we thought her gown was too heavy for her to pull off. Well, she’s back, and clearly the heavy gown thing was deliberate.

Evan Green attends the European premiere of “Dark Shadows” in London in navy velvet dress, sandals, and crocodile stamp gold plated cuffs by Tom Ford.

Tom Ford Fall 2011 Collection

It is at times like these when we turn to that great 20th Century philosopher known as Cher, who once famously intoned:

“Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done”

Wise words, indeed.

For you see, Eva is clearly working the genre-film red carpet look, which means in this case that she plays a witch in a movie so she’s going to essentially dress like one for the press tour. Had she played a robot in a sci-fi film, you could expect a lot of metallic dresses and lacquered hair.

And while everything here is pretty much perfect for a witch costume, we really don’t like what she’s doing with her hair here. The gown and jewelry are pretty spectacular, but the pseudo-goth Piercing Pagoda employee hair is not red carpet material. Also, matching cuffs are a little Wonder Woman and while our deep abiding love for Wonder Woman cannot be denied, she too, is not necessarily red carpet material. One cuff next time, dear.

Cher, why don’t you help us all come to a decision through the power of your poetry?

Vote Now!

IN! Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done
Dark Lady played back magic till the clock struck on the twelve
She told me more about me than I knew myself!

OUT! So I sneaked back and caught her with my man,
Laughing and kissing till they saw the gun in my hand
The next thing I knew they were dead on the floor,
Dark Lady would never turn a card up anymore!

There was an enormous response to Elizabeth Banks’ too-busy dress, but clearly y’all couldn’t stop talking about it. Much debate was undertaken, but the final vote came down to IN.

      •  I almost posted this exact same thing! and only WW can be WW.

    • introspective

funny you hate the lips. i hate the eyes.  i dont care if youre doing a witchy look–raccoon is so out.

matter of fact, lets just call her whole makeup job a fail. oh and the ratty hair too.

but the dress is HOT, and fits like a dream… so in with a small i.

      • 3boysful

Great minds think alike–I’d have posted the same if you hadn’t beat me to it!

  • Isabelle Murray

  • PRFan

I think she looks fabulous – IN

  • alicetiara

I love the cuffs. This look is fierce. The hair is a little limp but overall IN.

    • carolynmo

I agree completely! The hair is bleh, but the dress is to die! IN!

  • Sobaika Mirza

In, just for the jewelry. I need them cuffs.

  • Vaniljekjeks

In.  All the way in.  She looks fabulous!

  • If the comment section is filled with Cher’s lyrics, it would really make my day.

    • Sobaika Mirza

Charleston was once the rage, uh huh
History has turned the page, uh huh
The mini skirts the current thing, uh huh
Teenybopper is our newborn king, uh huh

      Give her a feather, she’s a Cherokee!

    • TheDivineMissAnn

Well, I know that I’ll get through this,
I know that I am strong,
      I don’t need you anymore,
      I don’t need you anymore
Oh, I don’t need you anymoooore.

    • formerlyAnon

I was born in the wagon of a travellin’ show
My mama used to dance for the money they’d throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of
      Doctor Good

      Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
We’d hear it from the people of the town
They’d call us Gypsys, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
      And lay their money down

  • Anathema_Device

Oh god, I should be wrenching my children out of bed right now, but I decided to use my quiet time to check on T Lo. Right choice. You two  bitches SLAY ME!!! I’m laughing so hard over this post. Oh right, the dress…

I’ll vote In, even though she should have worn one cuff and big girl hair (i.e., not the style my 13 yo daughter’s friends favor).

I love blue velvet for some reason (closet Bobby Vinton fan??), and this dress looks freaking amazing on her.

Light those candles Dark Lady! (Just don’t set your hair on fire.)

    • Minor quibbles with the hair aside, there’s no denying she looks fabulous!

  • In, she looks amazing. Typecasting, but she should have been Maleficent instead of Jolie.

    • Jolie’s eyebrows are more suited for Maleficent 🙂 But I see what you mean.

    • Amy Ellinger

totally, completely, entirely agree on all counts.

  • Jessi03

    1) I love you guys.  2) That hair makes me eyes cringe.  3) She is working the shit out of a full-length velvet dress.  IN, but with reservations on the bald spot that part is giving her.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Sums it up, I think.

  • Striking. IN

  • suzanne77

  • BrooklynBomber

That is one gorgeous dress. Not loving the jewelry or hair, but the dress is stunning.

    • 3boysful

Agreed.  I adore, I mean, j’adore, the texture of velvet–so much more appealing to me than the shiny, wrinkly cheap satin that PR contestants inevitably select.

  • This is such an improvement over yesterday, I’m tempted to give it an IN just to encourage her.  I don’t like the hair or the double cuffs, but that dress is divine.  Love a dark blue velvet.  Makeup is LOADS better than yesterday, even though that is damning with faint praise. Love the shoes. I like more than I don’t so let’s say IN

    • I think the problem with the makeup is that she has very low and straight eyebrows. (Sometimes she looks so much like my aunt Rosie that I’m shocked she has no Irish blood.) Nothing you can do about that, and obviously they don’t make her any less gorgeous, but it means the canvas for eye makeup is a lot smaller. A professional worth their pay SHOULD be able to figure that out, but she clearly doesn’t have one.

      • kimmeister

I want to thin out the underside of her brows so badly!

  • mjude

  • Paigealicious

If I could turn back time…

I would tell her to only wear one cuff and to do something a little more exciting with the hair. Otherwise, in.

  • In – 90% because she looks so much better than the last premiere.

  • Judy_S

IN. But don’t ask me, I gave her the benefit of the doubt yesterday. Both times she’s definitely playing or playing up the role. This is an improvement though. I kind of like the dark Veronica Lake hair thing.

  • RebeccaKW

Out.  This dress is pretty spectacular.  But her head is not working.  Her makeup and the look on her face makes her look crazed.

  • Stubenville

I think it’s utterly gorgeous, but inappropriate for May. Still, I’ll give it an in.

  • This one may be heavy too, but she’s pulling it off. She’s always been rather gothy, so while a dark blue velvet gown is both too theme-oriented and sort of ridiculous, it looks like her. Plus, this suits her coloring MUCH better than that washed-out grey did, and that neckline is awesome and flattering on her. IN.

  • Jessica Rowe

IN she looks wonderful.  Lady is gorgeous.

  • 1 cuff would be preferable, but 2 works with the look she’s going for. The makeup is once again not flattering her striking features, and the hair is awful.
BUT the dress is fab and this look suits her, so it’s a reluctant IN.

  • Funkykatt

A little too Morticia for me.

  • In.  Mostly because its a vast improvement over yesterday’s atrocious entry. Though she really is working the “I’m cast in a scary, campy movie by Tim Burton” thing a trifle too hard.

    •  Not really though. Eva has always been this wacky and out of the norm. In Europe, this is standard Eva. Maybe in America, this is new because people over there are not familiar with her arthouse reputation.

  • I love the witchy look (duh). I hate her eye makeup, but it’s always the same Eva Green eye makeup, so I am not counting it for voting purposes.

  • deliadee

In, the dress is gorgeous (although I keep thinking what that velvet would look like if she had cats).  Don’t like the hair or the bracelets, although the silver ring is pretty cool.

  • At first glance she looks stunning, but on the second…She has pretty glorious hair, but I don’t like the way it breaks up the lines of that interesting collar. Also, those cuffs look like they’re made of spray painted paper mache, but I don’t doubt that the pair of them cost a pretty penny.

  • I really think its the dark hair that is messing her up.  It needs to be a tad lighter, it doesn’t look very natural.  I love the dress.  Can I give the dress and IN and the person fucking it up and OUT?

  • padma s

Can it just be IN by virtue of being miles better than yesterday’s one? Granted there’s not a smile in sight and she’s working pseudo goth thing like her life depends on it, but she looks polished. That’s neither here nor there though.

Where is a ‘meh’ option when you need one.

  • The hair is a hot mess, but I love everything else, IN!

  • In, though I wonder why she’s wearing Cate or Tilda’s dress

  • jw_ny

Many reasons that this should be an out: heavy & out of season dress; dressing as her witch role; 2 cuffs; side sweep hair…., but overall I think she looks good and I like that her makeup is dramatic to compliment the dress.  She doesn’t look like the walking dead, like yesterday’s look.

  • Alyson Lamble

Out, for nothing more than the extremely severe part and brutally obvious roots.  Go back to blonde, Eva, the black doesn’t suit you.

    • Alisa Rivera

I was wondering what was up with the part because it looks really wide and I thought maybe her hair was thinning or something. OUT for dreadful hair and makeup and for wearing a velvet dress in May.

      • kimmeister

I thought her hair was thinning too!  Maybe it’s a little bit of that AND overgrown roots.

  • Well now I kinda want her to be Maleficent.

    IN. She looks luxe.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Witch or no, lady sure looks like she’s getting a workout from wearing it. I have deep, abiding love for gowns like that, and that is why this is an IN. However, I still hate everything else she’s chosen to do with her look.

  • miagain

IN… my love for that glorious blue velvet (what is it about midnight blue velvet… sigh****) is bigger and stronger than my dislike of her hair.  And if I look at her from the side, I will only see one cuff… problem solved!!

  • EEKstl

IN, but that part is sort of freaking me out.

  • Witch or no witch, velvet in May is just ugh! She does look good though.

  • Marissa Wiley

I like the colors, but the dress doesn’t do much for her.  I don’t mind the cuffs, but one might have been better.  The hair needs help.  Overall, I am not impressed and she could do better.  OUT.

  • Judy_J

This is a definite improvement over yesterday’s ensemble.  My only real bitch is with her hair, but it’s not bad enough to torpedo the whole effect.  IN.

  • Jecca2244

her hair makes me want to wash my own. eek.

  • IN. I can’t often get behind a velvet dress, but I’m happy to do so now.

  • alyce1213

A classic, navy blue velvet gown — swoon.
I adore the dress, the double cuffs are fine (because the dress is so simple), the shoes are gorge, so IN, despite the bad hair.

  • in – for blue velvet and wonder woman cuffs, not the unfortunate hair or makeup.

  • MilaXX

OUT, This entire look just takes away from how pretty she is. Everything is too heavy; the hair is too heavy, the makeup is too heavy, she could have done with one bracelet instead of 2. I wish she has kept the length the model is wearing and dialed the makeup/accessories back a bit. I don’t mind it dark as a nod to the film, but she needs to be more subtle in her look.

  • Larkin21

Agree about the cuffs but otherwise, I think she looks amazing. IN!

  • IN. I”m telling you, this isn’t just a Tim Burton schtick she’s working, this heavy dress goth look is how she rolls.

  • cluecat

IN, though that hair part looks uncomfortable.

  • Tashina Savage

What happened to her? I used to think she was sooo pretty. Now, she looks so harsh and gaunt. I dig the dress, just not her.

  • That hair is HORRIBLE, and one cuff would have worked…. much as I love the dress on her I’m going to have to go with OUT

  • Greg Yoder

IN.  She looks amazing.  The hair only really looks bad from one angle, and in closeup.  All of the other pictures are great.

  • I’m voting IN because of context.

  • Bonus points for improvement from yesterday’s mess, plus she looks pretty damn fabulous. IN!

  • AWS

I love everything, even the Wonder Woman cuffs.  This woman is one of the sexiest women on the planet.  This does not mean she cannot do wrong.  But for me, she did nothing wrong here.

  • The dress is totally gorgeous, but my absolute favorite thing about it is its pockets!  What could possibly be nano-thin enough to fit inside without causing unsightly Visible Pocket Line? In, Eva, ma belle.

  • Sophie Collier

Dress is awesome, hair and makeup are laughable.  I have to say OUT and give that dress to someone who will rock it right.  Rooney?  Tilda?

  • I was there yesterday and I swear there was a collective gasp when she stepped out of the car. Maybe it doesn’t show in photographs but she looked breathtakingly beautiful. Most definitely IN!

  • quiltrx

In, because I really like the dress and her hair looks pretty (I don’t mind it being goth-ish).  But her makeup’s too harsh again, and she should be deflecting bullets with those cuffs.  From what I can see, the shoes are fine.

  • crash1212

IN. That gown is beautiful – something I didn’t think I’d ever say about floor length velvet, but this is velvet done right! I don’t even mind the side-hair. I think she looks beautiful and appropriate for the occasion.

  • saanrio

    IN.  I love this look.

  • Love that dress but you’re right, one cuff! Even so, IN.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I LOVE the Wonder Woman cuffs! I say yea, a thousand times YEA.
The dress is great, but this is the wrong season for velvet. It’s May! Velvet does not say Springtime, chickie.

Even so, I give her an IN. She looks pretty fierce.

  • damnfinecupofcoffee

I once tried to sing Dark Lady for karaoke and discovered that a) it’s a REALLY difficult song to sing and b) I am the kathy griffin of my friends because none of them had ever heard the song before and all I could think in my head was “where are my gays?”.

  • SapphoPoet

OUT. It’s all just a little too much. Her hair is limp, the dress is so dense that I can’t really see the shape or color, and her jewelry looks like weapons.

  • newleaf1

    LOVE that gown.  IN.

  • Jeanne Englebrecht

i love that cher song…i cannot stop myself from singing it now. 🙂 hehehe…and i actually like her look for the most part. maybe a little heavy/dark for may…and i agree, 1 cuff!

  • ChristySchiff

I’d like to believe that she’s doing this witchy look for the film… but I think she plays this card pretty often.  I love the dress (except for those visible bra cups) but the hair is killing me in the worst way.

And the Cher stuff?  You guys are killing me in the best way!

  • mozzer0906

OUT, the hair and the lips are terrible.  The part makes her look like she is balding.  I’d like the bangle better if there was only one (which would look spectacular) and it seems to be idiotic to wear heavy velvet in May unless you are in the land of OZ where it is winter.

  • deathandthestrawberry

Love the dress, but that make-up is way harsh, Tai. Out.

  • OUT. Dark lady looks so plastic, skin shining like wax *CLAP CLAP*

  • Diego!

In-deed! LOL I think she looks amazing. Before I read your post, I was thinking of a Wonder Woman Red Carpet Gala as well but she looks very nice and this dress suits her like a glove. She looks stunning. IN IN IN! 🙂

  • Sara__B

The styling turned a striking gown into a costume. OUT.

  • ballerinawithagun

Send the other cuff to me!

I still have to give her an In.

  • Ozski

OUT. Cut the hair, it’s too fine for that length and while you’re at it, lighten it a shade or two, or three. You look better as a blonde, Eva. Ditch the blue velvet for the red velvet, wear one cuff and get your eyebrows threaded, fer Crissakes. Now, you are perfect.

  • MoreShoes

Oh I need this dress and in exactly this colour. The red is not working for me. She’s IN, even with this hair.

  • IN. So much better than that horrible getup she was wearing yesterday. She has dramatic features, with the eyebrows and cheeks and wide mouth- she can pull off a dramatic, dark dress, and she kept the styling simple, which was really effective as well.

  • aimee_parrott

On the whole, I think she looks fabulous.  IN.

  • octopol

IN.  The gown is stunning and she is working the shit out of it.

  • OUT–her hair is unforgiveable, as is her makeup.  sorry, mr. ford, it is a lovely dress.

  • MissAnnieRN

I don’t know how I feel about theme dressing for movie premieres. The dress itself is gorgeous as are the cuffs. And you’re right about the hair needing to be different. But yeah. My verdict is out on velvet in may. Hence the verdict is out on theme dressing.

  • Aly Light

I agree that the hair is bad, but the dress and accessories are gorgeous. IN.

  • KateMaryC

I don’t think I’ve ever liked her hair and makeup in any outfit. The makeup at least looks like she’s trying here, but the hair is awful. Yesterday’s was slopping, today’s was vaselined.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

IN for the dress. I guess the hair is OK but I ALWAYS wonder about her eye makeup! I think someone could give it a better look and make her eye’s look less skinny/slitty. That’s slitty, not slutty.

  • IN!Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
    But I hate the hair.

  • OUT.  She’s far too costumey.  If she wanted to look chic, she might’ve lost half the jewelery and done something about the weird hair-part.

  • OUT, because her hair is all wrong for this dress. SO WRONG. It’s just killing the neckline on what is otherwise a brilliant dress.

  • My first thought was “she looks hot”, and I guess that’s what she was going for, so IN.

  • I say, IN. The girl can pull off velvet, for what it’s worth. I even like the two cuffs and lip color. Dark and striking look but she owns it.

  • Laurie Bergman

“pseudo-goth Piercing Pagoda employee hair” I already know that’s going to be my best laugh of the day.  I think this is much better than yesterday’s dress, but the sideblown hair combined with the exaggerated smoldering facial expression detract from the very striking clean line of that dress. And I would rather have seen 1 cuff in silver.  Shoes are drool-worthy.

  • In. The dress is gorgeous and I love the cuff and the ring as well. Her hair is too heavy and looks almost cheaply dyed though.

  • leave_Blake_alone

Should have gone with one cuff and I don’t love the hair, but this is still an IN for me. She looks dramatic and gorgeous.

  • slightlybitterkitten

I love that dress!  BLUE VELVET!  In.

  • AlexisPayne

Love the dress and even the two cuffs, don’t care for the side part but damn she’s gorgeous. IN.

  • TheDivineMissAnn

She portrays the Dark Shadows schtick quite well.   IN

  • formerlyAnon

IN.  It’s not ground breaking but she looks good, not overwhelmed by the ensemble, and I have to admit, I LOVE the rings. One cuff, yes.

  • In.

  • This could have been an in for me if her roots didn’t look so greasy. Greasy roots make your hair look thin and scraggly, thus making you look sickly, which is always OUT on the red carpet.
Dry shampoo would have fixed everything here. Or even a dusting of baby powder at the roots to soak up the oil and be brushed out. Then she would have looked vamp without appearing dead.

  • Eva_baby

IN.  Anyone who can pull off a good Maleficent is aces in my book.

  • Natasha Fairweather

Aw, the colour and part of her hair makes her look like she’s going bald. That’s never a good look.

  • She looks fabulous and has that je ne sais quoi all French women have. Love it.

  • TAGinMO

Can’t disagree with the nits TLo picked (that PART! I just…I can’t even…), but overall I think she looks fabulous, particularly when viewed from the right. Great color and silhouette on her. IN.

  • Julie Fountain

    Navy velvet in May?? OUT.

  • granddelusion

Eh. Just don’t get her. And what is going on with that hair?

    • granddelusion

      Oh, OUT.

  • SewingSiren

Beautiful dress, the street length red one is even prettier. It’s a shame she’s wearing it in May. I think it would be worth the wait for Fall for a velvet dress.

  • belfebe

Her makeup and hair still suck.  Whick is a pity because she is a very pretty lady and I’m sure she could be stunning.  I can’t even look at the dress.  Until she learns how to fix her hair and stops wearing DIY amateur makeup, I refuse to give her anything but an OUT.

  • I think that’s just her thing.  The Fug Girls once described her look as ” lunatic, sex-starved, consumptive vampiress.”

  • rawrgrowlrawr

In! Love the dress, love the shoes. Do not love the double cuffs, but she looks great overall. Very striking.

  • mznormann

    in, In, IN!

  • snarkykitten

sweetie, you’re a grown ass woman. the greasy goth thing needs to be left behind in high school.

  • meridian5

Dress is gorgeous – hair is awful.  I’d still say In for rocking the velvet.

  • I say IN

  • Out. Marilyn Manson-esque.

  • Joyce VG

  • marilyn

In.  She looks so much better than yesterday.  This is her kind of dress.  Her hair and makeup are great for it.  Idon’t care about the bracelets.

  • TheOtherChristina

The hair looks like a combover and the makeup is a skosh too harsh, but she is working that dress like the rent is due and I for one adore matching cuffs. So… IN?

  • momogus

I can’t believe this is even a question. Super-IN! I think she looks fantastic.

  • Definitely IN. She looks amazing. (I did laugh at your description of the hair, though.)

  • mom2ab

I would like it better in September- something about velvet in May makes me sweaty just looking at her.  And the hair is pretty bad.  Out.

  • fashionablylate

    I LOVE this, IN!

  • IN.  She looks fab.

  • I have to say, I freaking LOVE this. She’s one of the few who can pull this off. IN.

  • jennifervney

Actually, Eva always dresses like a kooky yet very glam goth witch from what I’ve seen of her on various red carpets.

  • Louise Bryan

In.  She makes a beautiful witch.  It’d be kinda cool if there was a gold chain linking the cuffs, though.

  • Well, she looks beautiful and dramatic. It’s an IN for me

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

i think she looks fierce as shit. IN.

  • BeeBeauNYC

Ok, this I give an OUT to, even though I gave yesterday an IN. It’s too dark with the dress and the hair. She needs to wear the dress she wore as Vesper in Casino Royale!!

  • lolaleen

IN. Such an improvement over yesterday’s look and she looks fab.

  • Call me Bee

Hmmmmm….Love the dress and the jewelry, though I agree that just one cuff would have sufficed to make a jewlery statment and I myself prefer a more asymmerical look.  The hair, on the other hand, is unfortunate.
But–I say IN since she’s clearly working that theme and bless her heart for that.

  • Cathy S

Out. I liked the dress on the model in red and shorter much better. And yeah, two cuffs are one cuff too many. Out.

  • Beth G

Out…. I’d love the dress with silver jewelry.  And that hair style makes her hairline seem to be receding.

    • AthenaJ

I’ve got a funky sort of receding spot in my hairline too. I blame an incident long ago when my dad forgot the ceiling fan was on when he was playing ‘catch the baby’ with me.

  • OUT, but mostly because they turned Dark Shadows into a comedy….arghhh

    • CatherineRhodes

I never saw the original — was it serious, more dramatic? I think they’re going for high camp, which is the “True Blood” territory. Seems derivative.

  • fursa_saida

The hair is offensive to me. Love the dress, but OUT.

  • VioletFem

IN. Not crazy about the hair and this whole look would be better with one less cuff, but overall she still looks strikingly good.

  • TieDye64

HATE the hair and not liking the WW cuffs, as you said one is enough, but the dress is fierce as shit on her. Overall, I think this is rather striking, but I can’t get past the hair. Alright already, IN. Just because she’s killing that dress.

  • tired_mommy

  • j_anson

…In. Although what bothers me most is the makeup, which seems like she over-applied… highlighter? in places.

  • MK03

OUT. Honey, you’re not Angelina Jolie.

  • CatherineRhodes

IN. The only thing I don’t like is the hair, but the blue velvet gown and gold cuffs are divine.

Nice Cher reference. Damn, you guys are clever.

  • trisker

Dress is killer.  Mermaid hair is horrible.  Makeup looks a little cakey also.

  • altalinda

In, the hair and double cuffs don’t bother me.  And this is a vast improvement in the hair and makeup department over yesterday.

  • TSkot

Don’t love the hair, but everything else is killer:  IN

  • OUT on her makeup alone. Her eyes look tiny and she looks kind of sallow.

  • ErmengardeGreen

Love the dress and the major presence she’s bringing; hate everything else. Out for unfulfilled potential.

  • troublejf

Not to rain on everyone’s parade or anything, but the witchy look has been Eva’s thing for years. It has nothing to do with the role or the movie she’s promoting.

Personally I think she pulls it off most of the time. I love the look, the richness of the navy with the inky curtain of hair and pale skin. It’s striking and dramatic as hell. The dress is pure bitchy fabulousness.

  • IN. Dress and jewelery look fantastic. Don’t care for that lipstick color.

  • margaret meyers

That’s a great dress. I hate her hair, but she now understands that big makeup looks require foundation.  I’ll give her a lower case in.

  • Samantha Irene

I give her an IN. I have no great love for the hair, but the sum of the rest of it wins out.

  • greyhoundgirl

IN  Beautiful, beautiful color and cut of the dress, great with the green ring.  Ditch one cuff, put the hair behind the ear and it would be a lot better.

  • StrandedFashionista

I think it’s incredibly chic. Much IN.

  • IN but change the lipstick (softer lips with navy).

  • I love it, she looks great. She’s always been the goth queen of the red carpet and with that face and that skin, she’s the only one who can pull it off.

  • Elizabeth Anderson

Love you guys – but I just HAVE to come to the defence of that ‘side-mermaid’ hair that you two seem to dislike on most occasions. From a purely practical/comfort/self-confidence point of view, this hairstyle is key. When a lady (or gent or that matter) wears their hair down, things can get complicated. If you keep it all in the back, then you can’t appreciate the long hair from the front. If you keep your hair all in the front, it can get in your way, obscure your neckline and sometimes it can look awkwardly parted in the back. This ‘side-mermaid’ hair is a great blend of function and style for a perfect 360 view when wearing one’s hair down (in my personal experience, at least).

    In –

  • sagecreek

    Sorry, unks, but in…WAY IN.

  • DCSheehan

The gown works in red but in a dark colour it becomes a big ugly lump, and she ain’t any of those three things. Out.

  • kikisayshi

I hate velvet with an unhealthy passion, but I think this dress is chic and fits together with everything else. I am sold and she is IN.

  • Lilak

    Ever so IN.
And the two cuffs aren’t troubling me, esp. since she wisely decided to forego earrings.

    (Srsly, TLo … what’s up??)

  • bellafigura1

OUT. She looks mean and hard. The cuff with that ring is so so wrong. There is not one soft, touchable, accessible aspect here, I want her to Stop. Looking. At. Me. It’s theme-dressing, just one dollar sign, a few decimal points and zeros up from Christmas trees on a sweater in December. BTW, the dress is divine on the model.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

The hair is what is most distracting, that plus the heavy lipstick and the Wonder Woman cuffs.  I like the dress better in the shorter length.  OUT.

  • I love it. She looks good in the dark, simple, and vampy.

  • Out,because WHY are you wearing velvet in May?  I refuse to approve.

  • another_laura

    Overstyled. Out.

  • shopgirl716

Love it.  Wish I could wear that dress.  Don’t like the hair.  Wonder Woman cuffs all day long…

  • StelledelMare

Out. As with the other look, the dress is fine but the hair and makeup automatically kill it

  • KathKo

The Supervillain Evil Queen is in da place ! In.

  • bailey debruynkops

  • ThaliaMenninger

Gypsy, tramp or thief? I’m thinking tramp. OUT.

  • Wow, she was gonna get a full WERQ from me until that hair.  Honey, that part makes it look like you’re balding. Sadly OUT.

  • IN! She needs all that gold to combat all that deep velvet blue. Admittedly, the hair and makeup are cray-cray, but I love the dress.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

oh for heavens sake, i’ve worn the same thing only a little shorter & sans tom ford’s marvellous imprimatur. so of course i like it.
otoh, i also like what cher said yesterday about mitt romney. so theres that also.

  • I dont like make-up and hair, but IN!

  • the second cuff is a bit much, but otherwise she looks absolutely gorgeous, IN IN IN.

  • IN! My girlcrush for her is still in tact.

  • she’s quirky and different and just doing her own damn thing and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT. Sometimes it is refreshing to see a gorgeous actress just say FUCK YOU and just be wacky and crazy.

  • amian3

    I want those cuffs!

Out though. The dress is better short and the hair/makeup are trying way to hard.

  • The dress is IN
The hair is OUT – she looks like a Barbie after prolonged abuse by a 2 year old

  • guest2visits

I can stand the two cuffs; but the lip color is a shade too cheesy.  But hells; – she looks amazing, how many can wear a fabric
as heavy as deep blue velvet and make it look light and effortless.

  • CQAussie

IN, fantastic.  Except the hair, I don’t love it =)

  • Qitkat

So IN. Dark Gypsy Lady. Love. Gorgeous cuffs.

  • Lisa

IN!  I do admit that I like the color and length better on the model, but this is still gorgeous!

  • ick.  out.  and why does she constantly overdo her eye makeup?  shmear shmear shmear!

  • Sweetvegan

IN! She looks awesome, especially considering the film!

  • I love it but she needs one less bracelet. Still, IN.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

IN!  Fabulous, except for the hair.

  • FlamingJune1967

This was an IN for me as soon as I saw her lips!

  • MissMariRose

Love the dress, hate the hair. IN

  • IN. So much better than yesterday.

  • IN!

  • frankystein123

You WERQ that outfit! Definitely IN.

  • Green looks good enough. IN, but just who is the model in the Tom Ford dress?  She’s spectacular. Check out those shoes too.

  • demidaemon

My first thought was “WOW!,” so she must therefore be IN.

  • The problem with her doing THIS particular witch look is that she’s not Angelica Houston and she’s not Helena Bonham Carter, but her outfit, hair and makeup are calling back to both of them, making her look like an amateur in comparison.

  • FayeKat

Oh, come on, she is WERQing the shit out of this dress. I love the overall drama of it, and stil it is chic as hell! IN

  • she could lose the lipstick and one of the cuffs, but i’m buying the rest!  midnight blue witchy woman.  ok, the shoes could be better.  IN, i say.

  • Katrina Atienza

Love. She’s been working this Dark Lady schtick for years. Look at her bewitching eyes, yada-yada. IN!

  • Jangle57

While you may have a point about the cuffs and the hair, I think the dress looks fabulous on her – IN

  • IN, but that hairdo has GOT to go. (Brown pencil, anyone?)

  • IN. She looks amazing !

  • Gorengirl

    In! J’adore…. She is beautiful.

  • Beardslee

Did you know those lyrics by heart?

  • Dhammadina

In. Especially like the witchy-dee-blue color and that she can cast shazamm spells with her cuffs.

  • mochajava13

Out.  The dress is great, the hair is not.

LOVE the shorter, red version of the dress on the model.

  • Lina_bee

In. Love it except for the hair. And possibly the eye makeup. But basically I want that dress!

  • IN. She looks fierce.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

In.  I love this look.  The structure at the top of the dress, especially.  Why does she remind me of a prettier Katherine Hepburn?   Her eyes are pretty with this color – even though it is in heavy velvet – jeez, it’s spring after all – isn’t there some rule about not wearing velvet in may?

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

love the gown – hate her hair and make-up.. can’t she smile for a change?

  • Giustina Pileggi

i love it! in in in

  • RutGot

IN. She is totally working that witch shit.
