Eva Longoria in Victoria Beckham

Posted on May 11, 2012

We are as bored by Eva’s dress as we are by Eva generally.

Eva Longoria makes an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman” in a Victoria Beckham dress paired with Brian Atwood sandals.

Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Josephine Skriver

Actually, it’s a perfectly fine Vicki Posh dress and it fits her and suits her. No complaints or bitchy comments to make on that one (except the one we already made). But what we really wanted to talk about were her shoes:

Brian Atwood ‘Vanity’ Sandal

We’ve got to give her some credit here, because she (and by “she,” we mean, “whoever she paid”) wisely chose a simple dress to go with those anything-but-simple shoes. We don’t really like the beige-iness of the shoe, but it’s got a great shape to it and that heel detail really makes it. So our question to you, as if you didn’t already know, is:

The Brian Atwood “Vanity” Sandal: YEA or NAY?

The back is great and the shape is good, but I hate the color and the satiny finish.  So, yea if it came in another color/finish.

    • JosephLamour

It appears there is a small hole on the side in that first picture there. Tsk tsk Mrs. Beckham.

      • Not a hole. You can see her waist and the light spot next to it is whatever is behind her.

        • ballerinawithagun

I was just going to post this but I saw yours, the seam has definitely popped in the third pic. Not using the correct stitch for the stretch of the fabric. Expected at Forever 21 not from Victoria Beckham.

          • JosephLamour

Yeah, thats the one I meant. The one where she’s pointing.

          • Carla_Charlton

Thought the dress fit her like a glove until I saw the little opening.  She looks fantastic, otherwise.  Agree that the shoes should be a different color.

      • RebeccaKW

I meant the shoes.  I do like the dress, too.

    • Judih1

      I agree with your comment.

  • Anathema_Device

The shoe is cool in style, but that curtain tie-back on the heel looks slapped on. So, Yea in concept, Nay in execution.

    • ballerinawithagun

      Glue gun…DIY

  • Am I the first commenter? Is everyone looking at me?
She should peel those things off and give them to Johnny Depp.

  • howdoilook

Yea! I love how Atwood puts a little surprise in the heels, seen both here and on Zoe Saldana in an earlier post.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Nay – don’t think the two sides go together.  It’s too random.

  • Judy_J

I like the basic shape, but that doo-dad glued on the heel looks like a craft project gone bad.  Nay.

    • carolynmo

      Craft project! Exactly.

  • lucyloo222

From a distance I thought she had wads of moss stuck on the backs of her shoes.  Not a good look.  They’re kind of cool up close though.

  • Pants_are_a_must

    Nay. Fugly on all sides.

  • moppet

Is her fingernail polish dark metallic green? I like that.

    (Sorry, I’m easily distractible.)

    • MilaXX

As someone who loves dark nails, I like that too.

  • Looks a bit Frankenshoe to me. The heel and the front look like two different shoes. Nope.

  • That heel piece looks like an epaulet off of a coat worn by either Michael Jackson or Muammar Gaddafi. Nay.

    • Underdogg99

      This.  The shoe is horrid.

  • understateddiva

I like this ensemble.  There’s the clingy dress for the straight guys, and she threw on the pumps for us.  Thanks Eva! 🙂  Yay is my feeling on Atwood shoes in general.

  • Nay. The fringe looks too frou frou for the simple dress.

  • TheOriginalLulu

    NAY. Those shoes are hideous.
Love the Posh LBD. I like seeing her in something more tasteful (as opposed to those tacky-ass gowns she always wears on the red carpet), because then you can appreciate how beautiful she is.

  • VeryClaire

The shoes are just ugly. Satiny finsih? Ugly fringe? Now back to the dress: I find that style that highlights that part of the chest (the side? the side arm pit?) universally unattractive. I just don’t see it as a body part that needs highlighting. Not because it’s ugly, just because it’s uninteresting and that style dramatically draws your eye there as if it were interesting. And then were staring at her arm pit thinking “why?”

  • Tracy_Flick

Nay. It looks like it belongs in my grandmother’s bathroom, between the seashell soap dish and the satin-edged towels.

    • TheOriginalLulu

I’ve got one of those grandmas too. God bless ’em.

  • My first thought was, “The hell?”  So, that would be a NAY.

  • rkdgal

Frankenshoe.  The back has promise, but grafted to that front, it all goes sadly wrong.  (Insert JLo joke here.)

  • Jennifer Frazer

Come on guys, give her a little credit here: Eva’s face and figure look stunning here (this is not a photograph of her personality).  The dress may not be much, but she is wearing it well, as she does with the shoes.

  • As I say in nearly all matters Brian Atwood, I say Yea.  It’s like a little tiny showgirl in a shoe.  I love it!

  • Kayceed

Nay, craft project shoes. Great dress.

  • FlamingJune1967

Sorry, but to me that shoe is all kinds of ugly!

  • Olivia Snyder-Spak

did no one notice that the DRESS IS RIPPED? at the hip visible in the 3rd photo
OUT by default ONLY ACCEPTABLE ANSWER she shoulda carried a hangbag….

    • mommyca

thanks!!! I noticed the same thing! wow!

    • Wow, have you got a discerning eye! I had to increase the image size a lot before I could see that you were right.

  • Shoes are interesting in theory, not so much in execution.  As for the dress, there seems to be a slight tear in the seam in the third picture.

  • janetjb

Fancy drapery trim with a pale satin platform?  Nay.

  • Scimommy

    Is there a “yuck” option?

  • PuttyGalore

Nay. They look ridiculous. Also not a fan of that dress, those shoulder cut-outs hardly ever look good on anyone. And I think the fit here is terrible – where it’s not too snug it’s bunching up.

  • oh god no. nay.

  • poggi

    Generalissimo feet?  Nay.

  • SpcilK

The dress looks good on her except for the opening on the side seam, found on her hip. The shoes are HAUTE!

  • frannyprof

Forget about the shoes… is there a hole in her dress?

  • random_poster

NAY for me.  I’m not a fan of the tassel-y thing, which looks cheap.  Plus, satin shoes?  Just no.

  • Out.  The overall shape is good, but the back looks like a pillow in an Old West brothel, and the front is awful.

  • What is up with all the satin shoes lately?  I don’t care how big the trend gets, I’m still going to think “prom” every time I see them!

  • joancarol

Back of her shoes look  like a Mexican sombrero with the crown ripped off.

  • Sunshine16

nay, what the hell is that hunk of curtain fringe doing at the heel??

  • Hate the shoes. Hideous in color and the satiny finish and that thing on the back, just no.

  • schadenfreudelicious

party at the front, grandma’s toilet seat cover at the back…NAY

  • phrenk

    They’re ugly to me.  Nay.

  • TheLaurenJean

    Nay. Those things are tacky!

  • MilaXX

    YEA! I like it

  • YEA to the shoe, but honestly not with this dress.

  • I dunno, looks like a really tiny cowboy is gonna ride the saddle on the back of her foot.  Meh.

  • NAY.  The heel detail is like a little picture frame – look at the back of my ankle where my skin wrinkles up when I walk!

  • EEKstl

Yea to the idea of these shoes but ultimately a NAY to their reality. Slapping yarmulkes on the back of some evening sandals doesn’t sing for me. As for her dress, I love it  and do agree with crazyshoes you need to go uber-simple with the outfit — I do it all the time, so it might be right!

  • Deedles

I am so tired of satin shoes and it’s only May. I keep thinking of Dyables. UGH.

  • That is hideous. Like someone glued a tiny sombrero on pink bridesmaid shoes.

    • AthenaJ

      Cinco de Mayo wedding?

  • You’re insane! It’s hideous.

  • hughman

The Real Housewives of the Lion King.

  • AWS

NAY.  That shoe looks like a high school marching band member threw up…

  • jw_ny

NAY to those shoes, ugly!!!, but I do like pairing a simple dress with a kick ass pair of shoes.  As for Ms. Longoria in Beckham…good classic style for her.

  • sagecreek

    Oh, yeah. Those work.

  • Lochery

Ew. I’m sorry, I think it looks cheap and silly.

  • I want to see the back of this dress! It looks like it has some interest on the back.

  • bluefish

YEA — I don’t  go for over elaborate shoes but those look fab on her and make the whole thing come together.  I knew a young photographer years ago, whom I adored, and he told me he’d had the chance to photograph her for a thing some years ago — and that she was just stunningly gorgeous in person.  Never forgot that.  And that she was really nice to him.

  • Susan Crawford

Serviceable dress that looks fine. But those SHOES! I am in lust with Brian Atwood designs, and these are shutting the front doow, burning the house down and bringing sexy back. I would LOVE them, even in the beige (which is not a shoe color I wear), but I am drooling imagining this style in red or black. Now THAT would send me running to snatch them off Eva’s tootsies! YEA to the shoes!

    • Laura Valentine

Totally.  If I could afford them I would be buying them right now (hey, I have a wedding to attend, I need some fierce shoes, right?)

  • JackieOBlue

    Nay, too crafty looking.

  • j_anson

Not for me, but I like it on her. Although that heel detail looks like it would rub like crazy.

  • mjude

NAY.  looks like a patch of fur from a sick animal.

  • Deedles

I am so tired of satin shoes and it’s only May. I keep thinking of Dyables. UGH.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i usually like his shoes but these, i dunno, they kinda look like they have a window for yr blister. really: i cant imagine another reason to put a hole where that fringe-feathered hole has been put. there isnt any heel fetish or anything that i can remember–&, so help me, i began my adult life as, of all things, a foot fetish model. so i would know. unless, of course, that is, etc & ect, the internet has change things. but somehow i cant imagine it changing this.

i actually like the dress better.

  • NAY. But her arms look fantastic.

  • It looks like pubic hair stuck on the back. NAY.

  • PastryGoddess

I was looking at the shoes of the runway show attendees rather than the dress.  Does that make me a bad person?

    • aristida_girl

Right? Everyone in the background looked thoroughly entertained by Miss Eva : )

  • shopgirl716

    Big ol’ yea

  • nancymae

    YAY! Fantastico!

  • annamiklo

NAY!  They look tacky and overworked.  I don’t like that they’re shiny and satiny up front, and then have that chunky fringe-y back. Weird.

  • formerlyAnon

Nay. I really like those shoes, except for those . . . those . . . wandering epaulettes? on the heels.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

Ew! Looks like a smallish dust mop on the back of her shoe. WHY?

  • Qitkat

I like the dress and I’d give my firstborn (not really) to have her figure and be able to wear it. My family would pass out.

But the shoes, NEIGHhhhhh, Boudoir Hooker.

  • If the entire shoe was black or gold, I could say yes. The color differences make it look like a Pinterest DIY.

  • vanjar

The dress is OK, but the shoes are a “princess in the front, voodoo priestess in the back” kind of mess. Nay.

  • Sara__B

Nay to the shoes — the detail on the back looks like random junk. It’s a great dress, though.

  • belfebe

    YEA.  It’s fierce.

  • Aurumgirl

Yea.  And I love the dress too.

  • TSkot

Maybe if they were all black, but NAY as is.  SHE looks dynamite, however.

  • Aly Light

Why is it drawing attention to her heel like that? Are heels the new body part to be celebrated and enhanced?

  • Spicytomato1

Nay on the sandal. That circular detail is like a frame, perfect for highlighting a blister. Yuck.

  • juliamargaret

In. Her makeup looks amazing, and she looks great in the dress. And as you say, the dress and shoe are just the right match in simplicity/complexity. I like the shoes; any more out there and they would be too much, but as is I like them. The gold chain detail is interestingly deployed and does not look crafty to me, but well crafted.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Nay – those are some ugly shoes!

  • crash1212

NAY! That thing stuck on the back looks like a giant open mouth with hair….very high on the Ick-ometer.

  • Pennymac

NAY! Fuzzy mini life preserver-coaster thing on the heel. No.

  • yea on the sandal, but why is she such a big star again? She’s never done anything besides Desperate Housewives…

  • Yea!  Eva rocks ’em

  • kimmeister

    Mega YEA.

  • MoreShoes

Nope, the shoe looks like a gay matador. (How do I say this without offending anyone? 🙂 )

  • judybrowni

Several seasons back I noted that red carpet dresses at the Oscars were bedecked with random asymetrical hanging crap.

Apparently, now it’s shoes bedecked with random crap in odd locations. Since when has a woman’s heel needed a hairy bulls-eye?

  • cleep1000

  • Nay.  I think she looks great from the ankles up.

  • aimee_parrott

Nay.  it looks like she’s got an ankle pelt.

  • Lina_bee

Yea! They are ridiculous but FUN!  I dig the dress too, although I’m a little confused by what the shoulder buttons are fastening. (Is the back panel a different color?)  I’m not thrilled with her hair and heaven only knows why she’s on Letterman again already — her last was like a blink ago — but whatev. Stylist chose well.

    • Snailstsichr

She was talking about the last season of Desperate housewives. I was actually impressed with her. David asked a few open-ended questions that could have gone badly, but she chose to take the high road in her answers.
I didn’t even notice the shoes, though – just how tiny she is.

  • Interesting shoe, works with the dress, but NAY.

  • GTrain

Nay. Love the dress though. I like Posh’s designs almost as much as I loathe her.

  • StrandedFashionista

    Eew. NO. NAY!

  • Julaine Morley

Nay to the shoes. The pink satiny part seems destined to be worn with an maribou-trimmed negligee, and the heel section looks like an elaborate ponytail ornament; the combination is schizoid.

  • ChelseaNH

It’s a hippie chick/satin prom dress mashup.  NAY.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

hate the shoe. it looks like the back is a mouth screaming to get off that foot. reminds me of marc anthony’s speech from julius caesar: “Over thy wounds now do I prophesy—. Which, like dumb mouths, do ope their ruby lips. To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue.”  Big big big NAY.

  • guest2visits

This is a pretty nice dress. But after seeing the model’s look; I think everyone needs that slick little cap and those shoes too.

  • enid soto

Those shoes are a tacky mess.

  • ccm800

Nay shoes do not need a dream catcher glue gunned to them

  • allisankelly

Nay. Don’t care for the color and I don’t like a whiskered mouthful of teeth nipping at my heels. It’s like a Lucha Libre mask for her heel.

  • DebbieLovesShoes

That thingy on her heel looks like Grandma’s curtain tie-backs.

And I agree — I like the dress, but there is a popped-out seam in the picture where she’s pointing.  Just goes to show you, she’s a mere mortal just like us (only skinnier).

  • yay!

  • marywv

    YEA in a different color.

  • aristida_girl

Yea! The roman helmet shoe! (In)

  • ThaliaMenninger

Nope, not going for the shoe with that dress shield stuck to it.

  • Emily Roach

     Nope. Nay.

  • PaulaBerman

    Nay. It’s hideous.

  • bailey debruynkops

it bothers me that just because a heel has holes in it it’s called a ‘sandal’.

  • Melissa Brogan

NAY. Totally hating all the satiny pumps on trend right now. And I hate the thing in the back.

As for Ms Eva’s dress, it’s okay on its own, but girl needed to add some accessories. So boring.

  • bellafigura1

    Great shoe sans fringe.

  • JaneDC

The thing on the back looks like she’s being attacked by a particularly unpleasant species of poison caterpillars.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I’m more interested in the plump girl with the gorgeous hair and skin in the jeans right behind Eva.  I want to tell that plumper girl that she is the person whose face grabbed my interest, not that silly plastic woman.

  • lizajane1776

    Blink, blink.

  • that is one boring black dress.  the shoes are way too shi’shi.  looks like the stripper got a pastie stuck to her heel.  that would be a NAY.

  • It looks like it is wearing a hat.

  • CatherineRhodes

  • Boy she is tiny! Okay I guess

    • Oh, hate the shoe. Her foot looks like it is screaming in pain….

  • kikisayshi

The back of that shoe looks like the mouth of a monster on the Labyrinth. Nay, thank you.

  • amian3

Yes, I think not so much satin for daytime. Maybe there is some sort of ratio rule. Or only skinny straps or ballets in satin for day? Or no satin for day ever. Yes, that last one.

  • Meh shoes.

  • It looks like her Achilles tendon has a monster mouth.  Nay.

  • TieDye64

Meh. Lord knows I love me some sexy, showy shoes, but these are neither. I certainly wouldn’t say they’re designed well. They looks a little arts and crafts to me, and it’s not helping that they’re satin. NAY.

  • Nay. They look like a lampshade in a brothel. Not a high class brothel, either.

  • DeTrop

Eva’s been hitting the Talk Shows of late, i.e. Letterman, Bill Maher and she’s alright.  Well spoken and doing some serious work nationwide for the DNC.  She’s not just another vacuous pretty face.  Go Eva. BTW, love the dress not the shoes.

  • lesmaha

That shoe is hideous. What is that miniature hat on the back of it?? Ugh!!

  • samo_samo

Yea to the shoes, but they would be a best with an evening look.

  • Louise Griffiths

Nay – and burn it! Burn it with fire!

  • No.

  • nancylee61

I actually like the dress on her, she looks gorgeous!! The shoes, on the other hand, are just ridiculous!! I cannot even describe what they remind me of?? Horrid.

  • Dress – PERFECT for her.  Shoes, yuk.
