Elizabeth Banks in West Hollywood

Posted on May 31, 2012

Rare is the instance when we will voice any sort of sympathy for celebrities, but man, it must SUCK to be met with a wall of photographers after a night out.

Back off, you lecherous wolves. Can’t you see she’s concentrating very hard just to get one foot in front of the other while also ensuring you all get a shot of the label on her bag?

Elizabeth Banks is seen leaving the Chateau Marmont after a night out in West Hollywood carrying a Prada bag.

Prada ‘Pyramide’ Bag

We joke because we love. We gave that bag the “YEA or NAY” treatment some time back and opinions were split. We love it. We kindasorta love this outfit; the top half, anyway. From the waist down, it’s a bit soccer mom. Pair that cute top and sassy jacket with some dark skinny jeans and metallic sandals and you’ll be good to go, Liz.

The pants could have been cute (it picks up the bright bits on the top) but that is an awful fit. Shoes should be trashed.

    • Jennifer Hofstetter

I agree. Love the outfit, jut need the correct fit for the pants.

  • introspective

Shes giving me a lady who lunches on a night on the town look. Like the pop of color despite the hiddy fit on the pants. Bag is such a yea for me. She looks fresh and real world here. Overall despite a few quibbles it works.

  • I think she looks really dress down cute.  Not overstating anything.  Props to her for navigating a phalanx of uncaring photogs with a semi smile on her face.

  • BrooklynBomber

I’m thinking that night out was spent with Nicole Kidman’s hairdresser.

  • kimmeister

I think she looks cute except for the shoes, and the necklace is just a little too big for this outfit.

  • I like the pants, they just don’t fit right.

  • Lina_bee

Oh, dark pants and silver heels would be so much better! The bag…to me it looks super HEAVY, which is my major pet-peeve about purses. It makes no sense to me for a bag to weigh several pounds when you’re going to be putting several more pounds worth of stuff into it. Purses are not bowling bags! /handbag manifesto

  • halleygee

I love from the waist up. Completely agree with you on the skinny jeans and sandals.

  • Her jewelry looks like a skin condition.

  • SpcilK

She is casual cute. Another pair of shoes and a bangle or colorful ring would have elevated this look.

  • alyce1213

I like everything but the shoes.  Metallic sandals would be better.
But I don’t agree that dark skinny jeans would be any improvement — these pants are a great color.
She looks bright, chic and comfy.

  • Sara__B

No to the fit and color of the slacks, and to the center part hair. She looks about to topple over in those shoes. I’ll bet no stylist was involved in this outfit — I see similar outfits on most of the moms her age around my small town.

  • Spreecord

I enjoy the sort of high end bowling ball bag aesthetic, but don’t care much for the outfit. Or the hair. Or the anything else.

  • Anathema_Device

If those were skinny jeans in that color, it would be a homerun. Well, except for the shoes. In all, though, I think she looks very cute and comfortable. LOVE the bag.

  • MilaXX

Love the bag, like the outfit but I think red skinny jeans and cute metallic flats would look better. The hair is just tragic.

  • VanessaDK

Love the jacket. Can anyone identify it?

  • Snailstsichr

Well, I give her credit for using the pants to make the little bits of color in the shirt pop. If the pants had fit a little better, this would have been killer. As is, it is cute and I like the bag with the outfit. The light blue works well with the orange.

  • fungstyle

i actually think the pants are fine, it’s those drab shoes pulling this thing down. the punch of orange is great, but yes to a metallic sandal.

  • sashaychante

Really HATE those pants.  She looks like she’s out for a night of bowling with that bag.  I am so bitter today 😉

  • MsKitty

I love the old-school styling of the bag, but that’s it.  The clothes and accessories are at war with each other.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i usually like big neck-things, but boy do i hate that big neck-thing. combined w/ the vertigo caused by the stripes beneath it, sadly it makes her look like she’s got a bunch of big silver skin infections. & that will never do.

someone else mustve said she’d look better if her pants fit, so i’m just piggybacking onto that.

otoh, i agree that it must seriously suck to have photographers waiting for you at virtually all times. i wonder if, if yr famous enough, you have to always keep yr curtains shut. i’m betting yes &, while i would say it must get awfully hot, i suppose they all do have central air.

oto-o-h, while this must be fun, in its way, at first, after awhile it could get so exhausting that there could actually be several grains of truth when the celebrities say they hate it.

  • Aww, she’s cute. But she could be a bit more subtle with the purse commercial there.

  • Why do they show the bags? Are they getting paid? Or do they just get the bags for free, and so they show the logos as thanks?

  • I will scratch your eyes out for that bag. Love the outfit for the most part–except the shoes. Not really my thing.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Elizabeth is blessed of hip, thigh, and booty. Skinny jeans would make her look like a bowling pin (see Hendricks, Chrisina in Drive). That’s not to say that these pants weren’t also for a straight-figured gal. I do like the color, just wish they were a more flattering fit for her.

I still love that granny bag.

    • Alisa Rivera

Agreed. Fit of pants isn’t great but skinny jeans wouldn’t work on her.

  • julnyes

That is a “Brunch Outfit” not a “Night On The Town” outfit – but cute either way.

  • jessicasac

    Kinda like it, almost there.

  • DCSheehan

That bag is all kinds of awesome. I have an irrational dislike of this woman so won’t comment on her pants. But they’re vile.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

The outfit is sort of meh but that hair??? That’s a finger in the light socket look for sure.

  • funkypeanut

I’m sorry, but that still looks like a bowling bag.

  • funkypeanut

I’m sorry, but that still looks like a bowling bag.

  • kcliff

I am super freaked out by that necklace because it looks like she has a huge, weird skin infection

  • clairellis

I kinda like the pants. Different shoes would make them better but think they are cute. And she looks very drunk. But hey she’s got a baby so she probably needed it.

  • Man, those are some geriatric-looking pants. I love the color, actually, but dear god that fit is awful.

Also, she looks so much like Gillian Jacobs here that it’s kinda weirding me out. I seriously didn’t even believe this was Elizabeth Banks at first.

  • I love that purse.  Love it!  Hate the pants.

  • guest2visits

This is a casual daytime outfit, I don’t see it as an evening look.  Even in the summer, even in LA.
I don’t think the bag or the necklace go with it either.  She has a fresh face makeup-less look; also not typical for nights out.

  • TieDye64

The top half would look better without the necklace. The back, yeah, I’d own one if I were well off.

  • Bozhi

She looks good, but the pants would not have been my first choice.

  • Jacket is too small, IMO

  • I love the jacket and the bag, and I really love seeing her off the red carpet because she is so beautiful with a more natural face, as opposed to when she has the makeup really slathered on.

  • God I love that bag. sigh…

  • I like how suddenly she looked exactly like Chelsea Handler. Or was creeped out by it. Same thing, really.
