DKNY Resort & Holiday 2013 Collection

Posted on May 25, 2012

Combining both holiday fashion and going-on-holiday fashion into one mega -collection, DKNY offers up a fun, feminine, and (as always) city-girl-chic series of wearable and pairable pieces. Love the gorgeous shades of fuchsia and scarlet and the easy, girl-on-the-go vibe. DKNY has always had a laser-sharp focus on who the brand’s customer is, and that continues here, because once again, you can easily see the woman wearing these clothes.

I like the prints and some of the pieces but not the silhouettes

Well Zooey is just going to love this black stocking collection.  I love most of it.  Just looks too heavy with all the black.

    • RebeccaKW

Oh, yeah, she’ll be out in those black leather shorts with thick tights paired with a cardigan printed with kittens holding balloons in the next month.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Looks easy to wear – classy.  I like it!

not sure who wears black tights while at a resort or holiday? or at least i think these collection usually go with warm weather.

  • amf0001

nope,  if i’m spending imaginary money on my imaginary perfect body,  I prefer Oscar de la Renta.

  • Qitkat

Even though these are not all the same model, are they? I flat out hate this static pose.

But we’re supposed to talk about the clothes…
Fairly cute collection, most especially the ones with color.
I really really want the top in black, fuchsia, and red, second row, far right.

Dang, it’s hard to type with my left index finger in a massive bandage.

    • carolynmo

I agree about the posing.  The models look like they’re in a police line-up. An exceptionally well-dressed line-up.

  • SpcilK

I like most of the pieces, but the hologram sequin and fake fur pieces gotta go.

  • BobStPaul

Great clothes but too much black.

Great clothes but too much black.

  • michelle shields

Can someone just make some normal pants please? Everything is either too short or too long. Drives me nuts!

  • dress_up_doll

I’ve been a HUGE DKNY fan since the beginning, so I’ll take it all. Love the fuschia an scarlet, but some of the black-on-black gets lost in translation.

  • j_anson

This is one of those cases where the colors would never work on me, but I do love what they’re doing with them.

  • Vickiefantastico

Is it just me, or does most of this look like department store clothing? Sure, they’re pretty, but they look like anything you could find at JCPenney’s. It’s definitely not high fashion. Or do I not get “resort” wear?

    • Judih1

I agree, it seems like JC Penney or H&M

    • http://heartprintandstyle.blogspot.com Vivi N

Oh no. This does not read JCPenney’s. At…all!

i actually just saw a v similar houndstooth skirt at forever21 just the other day… actually, i’d say that the forever21 version was more interesting, visually. some of this collection is cute but overall…. its just good. not great.

  • marilyn

I am confused.  This looks like a winter/daytime collection.  Is this what the  ‘better’ people are going to wear to resorts and for holidays?  Won’t this look rather buttoned down at Cabo or Aruba?  Whatever…..

    • guest2visits

Yes; you’re right. It didn’t look like my idea of resort wear either.

  • VicksieDo

I don’t think I’ll ever get behind the fuschia with red trend, but the other things are all very cool.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Burke/100002384493067 Kimberly Burke

I like that color trend more when the red is small in scale, like red trim or border for contrast.  Too much of both makes my eyes cross a bit.

    • kimmeister

I will never like red and fuchsia together either.  I also can’t stand some of the pants here, particularly the ones that are pleated (I think), cropped, AND cuffed.  Blech.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZFKRECRF5BOBWB4RXAJGI4D6KA mmc

I’m not onboard red with fuschia either…reminds me of how my girls dressed themselves as toddlers and preschoolers.

I’m also not digging the length of the pants—either too short & cropped or way, way too long.

I am a fan of black tights with killer shoes or boots though, and I do love me some houndstooth.

  • Lina_bee

Wait, there’s like 2 summer outfits. The rest are all fall. *confused*

I do like the black pantsuits, although the hems are ridiculously long.

  • MilaXX

Cute collection but they can keep both versions of that muppet coat.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Burke/100002384493067 Kimberly Burke

Holy crap on a cracker!  Is that a SWEATERDRESS????  Coupled with opaque tights that might as well be leggings and loudly colored?  I’m nostalgic and horrified at the same time.l

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kimberly-Burke/100002384493067 Kimberly Burke

I do really want that soft pink jacket, right side, two rows up from the bottom.  I want to throw it on over an oversize grey tee, black jeans, long silver and black chain necklace and some killer boots that tie it all together.

Alas, I have neither the money nor the body for it.  But I can still imaginary-shop for outfits. :D

      • holdmewhileimnaked

oh, you know, of all designers one thats pretty easy to wear is donna karan. although, as much as i like her work–& i actually do–i rarely shop specifically for it, still i’m sure you can pick up tons of it on my favorite mecca, ebay.

i betcha dozens of dollars plus dozens of donuts you can find some DK/DKNY that will work for you just the way you are. in fact, i’m sure of it.

I HAD a sweater dress exactly like that in the 80s, but mine was blue. It was not hip then… is it hip now? Scary.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i like the colors better than the shapes of things here. sad, too, i guess, cos i really like the colors. i may be one of the only people around on board for the hot reds & pinks all smushed up together, however.

but my bestest liked row is the spangly sparkly one, seventh down. the subtle sense of something that went into picking/putting together those deep rose & blue sequined dresses–i mean, wow. & i like the dark blues to the left of these two too.

i’m also quite fond of the work in the row beneath it.

but i cant say i like the structures of almost any of it. i like fitted clothing better–maybe cos thats all that works on me, when anything works on me. too much bag here for my buck.

i do like the first look, though, unreservedly–particularly including the shoes. maybe particularly the shoes, but not definitely.

  • guest2visits

I love many of the styles/shapes here; but a good portion are way too short to consider for me or even my 25 year old self.
Micro short is fine for the runway; but I’m not sure who is wearing such tiny but expensive little bits.
(let’s not count celebs; we could be here forever).

  • prettybigkitty

I’ll take one of everything please.

  • alyce1213

Are DK’s designs getting younger? Or am I just getting older?
Pretty, but a bit on the short side.

I like it….but does it look a little 80′s retro (and is that why I like it)?

  • understateddiva

If you said, “pink peeptoe platform shoes with ankle straps” I’d laugh, but I want them anyway.

  • Amy Ellinger

Cute, but not for me.  I am so not one of her girls.  :-)

    I’m a little lost…this is a Resort collection?

  • fursa_saida

I’m not a fan of some of the boxier shapes, but overall this is yummy.

  • DeTrop

Let a smile be your umbrella………….  So serious these models.  If this is resort, I’m not going.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JVY7XEMGPDVRCWR5JIY757SBJE suzin

jackets at the hip…or even below…so great for women with breasts!

  • TomBord

    is ann taylor trending??

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

and pray – at what resort do we wear all of those Nanny McFee black stockings?  sigh.

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca
