Cannes Watch: Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli
Since Miss Diane is one of the judges at Cannes this year, for the opening ceremony, she decided on full-on Aphrodite drag:
Diane Kruger at the Opening Ceremony and screening of ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ during the 65th Cannes International Film Festival. Diane Kruger wore a Giambattista Valli aqua silk draped couture gown.
As far as goddess gowns go, it doesn’t get much more goddess-y than this. She looks impeccable. The color is beautiful on her, the dress moves beautifully, hair looks good (couple flyaways), makeup looks good, and the jewelry is well-chosen. We do tend to think, though, that goddess gowns are reserved for the style intermediate-levels to wear; PhD-level fashionistas should be encouraged to wear things a little more interesting and perhaps more difficult to wear. This is beautiful, but a little basic. In fact, the only design interest is that thing covering her left arm, which we would imagine gets awfully irritating after a while.
Still, she looks gorgeous. Can’t take that away from her.
