Chloë Moretz in Christopher Kane

Posted on May 04, 2012

Chloe, sweetie, what’s your hurry?

Chloë Moretz makes an appearance on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ in a Christopher Kane dress paired with Jimmy Choo heels.

Christopher Kane Fall 2012 Collection/Model: Marike Le Roux

Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ Sandals

Geez, those Jimmy Choos sure are making the rounds, aren’t they? Nice to see she’s getting a second use out of them.

Look, we’ll say it: She’s too young for this dress.

Not that it’s adult in a too-sexy way; just that it’s kind of seriously grownup in a seriously serious way and really, what’s the big rush? Have some fun with your clothes, honey. You clearly know how to and now’s the time in your life when you can. Leave this for the opening of your first grownup romantic comedy in 2017.

  • I know, but she looks fantastic!

    • I agree, I would have taken a bit off the hem though, but it’s an ok lenght for sitting down on TV.

      • carolynmo

I agree, too. She’s looks fab!

  • She’ll look even better when in it when she’s the right age to wear it.

  • It also makes her look like she doesn’t have a neck.

    • MoHub

And as if she has midriff bulge. (Do they still use that term?)

  • amanda crow

Aw, I actually love this look.

    • luciaphile

I love it too. I have no idea who this woman is, but I think she looks fab.

      • Glammie

She was the girl in Hugo.  In other words, she’s 14, maybe 15 now.

        • luciaphile

Eeek, I take it back then. Had no idea. She looks like she’s in her late 20s.

  • LANDRU3000

I’ll say she’s too young for that dress; it makes her look like Kim Cattrall.

    • NC_Meg

omg. I was thinking I want to see SJP in it. Great minds think…kind of alike/imagine costars in similar dresses?

    • HengRu

I don’t think it’s just the dress. Her face made me exclaim, “It’s Baby Kim Cattrall!” Especially in the second photo.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

oh, i dunno, i’m probably all alone in this but i think she looks nice. & she really has grown a lot. i cant imagine christopher kane making a matronly dress, maybe thats it. him & MK, earlier today, are probably my favorites among the newest crop of serious design contenders.

  • Perhaps if she had chosen it in that same cra-cra red metallic-y fabric as the model was wearing, it wouldn’t be so mature (read – boring).  That navy-blue-with-pot-leaf pattern looks like something my dead grandma would’ve had on the couch in her parlor. Or the drawing room.

    • Judih1

you are so right. the model’s dress would have been a better choice – but I stil think the dress is too mature for her. And her neck disappears.

  • I don’t think she’s got the body for this dress, either – not that there’s anything at ALL wrong with her body! The leather strappy things are kind of hitting her in weird places & making the fabric pooch out in such a way that she looks thicker than she is.

  • fnarf

Please, please, please don’t let her be sucked into the Hollywood meat grinder like all the Lohans et al. before her. She’s gorgeous, and smart as a whip, but she’s fifteen.

  • Lina_bee

Good lord, child. You’re not even old enough to drive! Save this dress for college and the boys and/or girls will bend to your every whim. Except that the neckline is not great with your particular neck proportions, at least not with your hair down. Even when you tuck your chin.

    • alyce1213

I’d save the dress until she’s in her 30s or 40s.

  • marilyn

Exactly!  If the skirt was cut above the knee, it would be kind of cute.  If she were a 6’2″ size 2 fashion model, the length would be okay.  But on her, it just looks old.  The color is not the best for her.  She has some tan, so it does not look bad, but if the dress was a lighter color, it would be more flattering for her.  She should not wear the high school girl hairdo that she has.  It does not go with an adult dress either.

  • She looked very odd on Letterman in this…she was very squshed…and she was very weird acting with Dave #notafan

  • Patricia Gillett

I’m totally over these damn shoes. They were cute four starlets ago.

  • EMarrenner

Chloe (rightly) loves those shoes: she has them in nude, also. Per the Fug Girls:

  • It’s a good dress to wear for a sit down interview.

    • hac51

Right.  The longer hem won’t ride up!

  • SpcilK

What an adorable 23 year old! Oops, I mean she is dressed like a 23 year old.

  • anotherkate

I’m dying for those shoes. I know they’re just strappy black heels, but there’s something about them…Nice work, Jimmy.

Oh, yeah, she looks cute. But I agree, too grown-up, and for no reason. Be a weirdo fashion baby while you still can!

  • That dark print is a mistake. It looks dowdy and dull.  And she needs to pull her damn shoulders back.

  • Imasewsure

Maybe someone down the list has mentioned this already but she looks like Kim Catrell Redux in that outfit. She’s adorable but honey give it 20 or so years… as the Sages say… what’s your hurry????

    • MilaXX

      I just posted that.

  • FashionShowAtLunch

Sure, the ensemble is  a little mature, but I do have to say that she just looks lovelier and lovelier every day.  She is certainly growing up to be a beautiful young lady.

  • fiestyfashionfem

  • SapphoPoet

I don’t care for the dress; it’s too dark and looks very heavy, despite the fact that its sleeveless. I think the red version the model is wearing is more interesting. I do like those sandals.

  • Joyce VG

    It’s all wrinkly.

  • janetjb

I’m so happy she was able to get those shoes in her size, unlike poor Eva.

  • shoes I covet…

  • turtleemily

I feel like I’m going to be on a watch list, now, since you can tell she’s not wearing a bra.

  • lunulaoblongata

Again with the waist!  Why, little diva, why??  She’s lost the duck face, now she needs to lose the Urkel.  That’s all I can see besides those wrinkles.

  • butterflysunita

    Why’s the skirt so wrinkled?

  • I just going to say exactly what you guys said about those Jimmy Choos before I read the post. Why are they everywhere? I guess it could be worse, but eh, I don’t know. They don’t seem that special to me.

  • drdirection

She does look lovely.  But she is only 15 years old, I think.

  • Yeah, it’s a little too old for her but not as bad as some styles she’s worn.

  • siriuslover

She does look fantastic, but I thought the same exact thing as TLo. My first thought was “isn’t she like 14?” It’s just so grown up.

  • MilaXX

Oh honey you were doing so good for a while there. Give that dress to Kim Cattrall.

  • Too bad she didn’t go with the original color.  Still a bit mature for her, but it would have been less Serious Business.

  • I don’t know, I think she looks adorable in it!   She looks older than 15 though (seriously, 15?).  I wish I’d looked even a quarter as full of grace and confidence when I was that age!

  • granddelusion

    I blame the parents.

  • Please hand me the scissors so I can cut off that hem thing.

  • Vaniljekjeks

The dress she is wearing is ok, but the version the model is wearing… I LOVE IT!

  • quiltrx

She looks really cute, but this print is what, to me, makes it too old for her.  I like the print on the model much better.

  • runningmollusk

It’s a little drab, but I think it’s appropriate for the occasion. (And who says she’s not having fun? I used to play make-believe-business-woman all the time. Just not in Jimmy Choos.)

  • she looks like kim cattrall in the 1st pic…

  • ccm800

looks great though! Rather see her in the runway red

  • Sweetvegan

Not bad, but she should’ve worn a bra. She’s not only braless; she’s braless in a dress that has bust darts that end at the bust point.

  • Lisa_Cop

Like the runway version SO much better.

  • Dagney

    Meg Ryan 2.0

  • guest2visits

Even though she looks really good in this; I would almost rather see her in the red version, – just for the kooky-ness of it.
This blue dress is kind of too serious and grown-up. Agree.

  • AWS

    She is officially over-exposed.  *yawn*

  • There is something wrong with how the bust darts are sewn in that dress.  Its making her look pointy and droopy.  And she really looks like she should play Kim Catrall in a flashback scene.  Of course Kim was a brunette when she was in Porky’s.

  • Susan Crawford

She would have looked SOOOO much better in the red-patterned version of this dress, no?

  • shiftercars

All I see is loose ass titties. Shoulda put a bra on.

    • FashionShowAtLunch

      Ew. Vulgar.

  • I like it, but I liked it better with the print on the runway version. And the hem length is irritating me.

She looks cute. A little mature, but cute.

  • I think she looks awesome!  Not too grown-up, just a little demure.

  • I love her tons, but I agree, she’s always dressing too old. The Kenzo dress that was featured here a couple of days ago was the perfect look for her, she should keep to those silhouettes.

  • librarygrrl64

LOL, before I even scrolled down to your comments, I thought, “Wow, everybody’s loving those JCs, aren’t they?” No wonder; they’re very flattering. But I agree on the dress (and, quite frankly, the shoes ON HER): too mature.

  • I HATE the boob strap. Love the shoes though.

  • AWS

O-M-G… she looks like Kim Cattrall.  NOT gooooooooooood…

    • PeaceBang

(just saw your comment — that’s exactly what I thought!)

      • AWS

REALLY not good when you are under 30 years old.  I think this girl is a teenager so… that’s a tragedy…

  •  The best lightning rod for your protection is your own spine.

  • Too small, wrinkled, and she needs to hold her head up instead of slouch; she has a floating head, slouching in that dress.

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

i like the dress version in the model, red.

  • sleah_in_norcal

is she going to a funeral?  if so, those shoes are totally in bad taste.

  • PeaceBang

Cripes, she looks like Kim Cattrall here.

  • Bust darts that peak on the nipples are against the rules.  Sorry, dear.

  • Beardslee

She is too young for that dress, and for those shoes.  I think that sky high heels belong with grownups.

  • i don’t know she looks incredibly well put together and mature and professional so how many teenage stars can we say that about in Hollywood where they are either trying to grow up too fast or are in a state of arrested development?

  • Sara-Ann Collins

I think she really needed an updo. All that neckline and all that hair give her no neck.
