Chloë Moretz for Vogue Russia

Posted on May 02, 2012

Chloe gets to work on her wig-wearing skills while playing dressup and generally looking adorable for Vogue Russia. There are worse ways to make money. And thankfully, there’s a minimum of pouty face this time, because it was getting to be something of a problem with her in pictures and it was threatening to trigger our granny-like tendency to snap “You keep doing that and your face is gonna freeze that way!” And that’s not hot, kittens. No one thinks nasty granny is hot.

Anyway.

Teenager playing dressup for Russians with cash. GO.

Chloë Moretz featured in the latest issue of Vogue Russia magazine photographed by Alix Malka and styled by Natasha Royt. Hair: Peter Savic. Makeup: Francesca Tolot.

    Wow. This is fabulous.

    • Jill_3

I had no idea she was such a little model! I mean, she’s gorgeous, but I had no idea she could create such great, dynamic pics that really show off the clothes and her body/face/personality. WERQ, fabulous little girl whose life I covet and not in a creepy way!

      • Sobaika Mirza

Couldn’t have said it better! She usually is so bubbly and young, and this is a stark (but not at all inappropriate) contrast. Well done!

  • Super_Red

HO.LY. Crap. I never thought I’d say this about her, but girl can wear some clothes! I seriously love this shoot. I want all of those clothes (even though when I look at the runway photo’s I’m well aware of the fact that I would never be able to pull them off.

She looks really, really fantastic. Love it.

  • Little_Olive

She looks great. And kind of like Britney the ANTM winner. Have I been watching too much of that?

    • Jessi03

      Not possible.

      • fursa_saida

Yup. And when you run out of ANTM, you turn to the internet and its stores of international ___NTM franchises. I highly recommend Australia’s NTM.

  • Vaniljekjeks

Cute and fierce at the same time!  I love this girl!

  • mmgk

    That last pic is stunning.

  • Jessi03

I really like her.  These pictures are so damn cute!  I’m impressed that they made her look so tall, too.

    • In_Stitches

She looks crazy tall!  She must have just had a growth spurt; that can’t all be camera magic.

      • http://www.celestiae.net Isy

Probably a combo of both. She’s wearing high heels, she takes up the entire frame in all the shots, and they’re shooting from a slightly upward angle, which makes her legs look pretty long. Lots of tricking the eye in this shoot. :)

  • Judy_J

The last photo of her is stunningly beautiful.  Looks like a painting.

  • hughman

Fab. Now Kelly Osbourne can use these pics and have another purse made that looks like them.

  • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

Whoa. WERQ, girl! She is giving amazing face here.

  • SpcilK

The girl is really working it! She looks amazing, but a little too mature for a 15 years old in my opinion.

  • muzan-e

Oh, this girl understands her face.  Magnificent. Genre-perfect. LOVE. HER.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Great layout, very cool clothes, and she is Working It something chronic. I’m liking this a lot!

  • Vodeeodoe

Is she even 16 yet? I’m not into making kids look sexy. She is a very pretty little girl, though.

    • alyce1213

      15 and totally playing too-mature dress-up.

      • NNgela

15 years old girls in high schools are dressed much, much worse.

        • alyce1213

True and skanky. The decency bar is low.
These, thankfully, are not trashy.  But I still think of her as a kid, so I guess I need to adjust.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZMU2QQUTAUEPU23MUTZBQ5W2PI Peter

Honestly, I was wondering the same thing. But she’s serving up such brilliant Velma Kelly realness in these shots, I’m not freaking out too much about it. I think it’s incredible.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZMU2QQUTAUEPU23MUTZBQ5W2PI Peter

Oh God, except I just wiki-ed her and realized she was born in the late 90s. Now I feel disgusting about myself.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s that big a deal. She isn’t done up to look particular *sexy* here, I don’t think. It’s more celebrating that retro-fab look she’s working. And come on — that first twirling picture? She looks adorable, and the styling (and the photograph itself) are absolutely incredible.

        • In_Stitches

I agree.  Of course the looks are too mature for her, but they aren’t slutty (barring the lace number that shows her bra).  In fact, when I say mature, I don’t mean 20′s or 30s, a lot of these looks are for women in their 40s and up.  I like the juxtaposition of the rich baroness facade pasted on a young joyful girl.

          • Vodeeodoe

I like hearing what other people have to say about kids. I don’t have any, and a lot of my friends have kids that are tweens and I’m way more freaked out about how the girl’s dress than their parents are. For me, a study in progress.  Chloe was on Letterman last night. She is 15 and she sprouted. She’s tall, skinny, beautiful and she looks older until she opens her mouth and talks just like a teenager. She also, strangely, does not have a crush on Johnny Depp; but she likes his jewelery.

        • Vodeeodoe

I know, I know, I’m kind of prudish when it comes to teenagers. But I can definitely say that I have never liked the knee-socks with high heels look. Plus the socks in the twirly picture look like a shortened version of those thigh-high stockings that you attach with garter belts. That, and the way her mouth is slightly open in every single picture had me waiting to scroll down to a picture of her sucking on a lollipop. Okay, so maybe I’m way too prudish…or maybe I’m a perv???   :/

          • Beardslee

Since I have a teenage daughter my antennae are up for exploitation but I found these clothes girly and frothy and not overtly sexual – fun dress up clothes for a kid.  That’s how I read this shoot.

  • Vodeeodoe

Um, also if nobody’s noticed yet, that last portrait of her – she could play Liz Taylor in National Velvet. Whoa.

    • Denny Li

Closest Liz Taylor I’ve seen yet! The odd thing is, I’ve never seen the resemblance before -and still don’t really see it in any of the other photos because while her features are very like, she has a triangle for a face while Liz’s was oval.

      • Vodeeodoe

I think it’s the angle of her haircut. It hides the shape of her face.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

i cannot deny that she looks great here, if pretty much unrecognizable. for when, in the past six months, did she have time to grow not three but ten inches? a foot? kids do grow but something is very weird.

  • marilyn

The clothes are fine.  The accesorizing is weird on all fronts, which is typical for Vogue.  Maybe they are having Kelly Osbourne style for them.  So, ignoring the odd accessories:  The first dress is great, and does not need the cardigan.  The lace dress is beautiful, and she should not have tied the woven fabric around her waist.  It looks better on the runway model.  However, the photo is black and white, so they were probably looking for something interesting in the shot.  The Chesterfield style coat/dress looks better waisted on her, than on the runway model without the belt.   The beige/tan dress with the ruffled skirt is fine, but the accessorizing is odd both on her and the runway model.  She is beautiful, and the clothes, generally, are beautiful also.

  • PaulaBerman

Total WERQ! She looks amazing, and wow, so beautiful.

  • BrooklynBomber

I like. The pictures & the clothes.

And the Marc Jacobs model reminds me of Tatum O’Neal in Paper Moon

  • stephkornblum

Besides the photos where she is wearing Valentino and Givenchy, it isn’t working for me.

  • EEKstl

I’m really coveting those black sandals worn in the Emporio Armani pic.  Like, REALLY coveting.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/4KLZGI7NMQE2LQDYYSMPFXANW4 Uche

Best editorial I’ve seen in awhile. She’s going to get bigger and more talented as she grows. Really love the Armani and Valentino.

  • Unvacuous

Agree, especially in the Marc Jacobs and the lanvin, she looks UNBELIEVABLY tall. I’m not one to cry Photoshop very often either, since i work pretty exclusively with the program i can usually tell. Just look at how she was last week:

    http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/2012/04/werq-chloe-moretz-in-kenzo.html

Arms, legs, neck not nearly as long. No lifting of the chin, stretched out poses or forced perspective can make her that tall. Either they elongated her limbs in photoshop, or that’s not her body, at least in those shots.

  • nannypoo

So cute. She looks like she had fun doing this shoot.

  • alyce1213

It’s an interesting spread, but it seems that ‘pouty face’ is being replaced by ‘kvetchy face’ (ref Lanvin and Jacobs pics).

She is adorable and the clothes are cool. I can only hope some of the sheer dresses were lined for her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

She’s a great little model, but the photos of her are starting to get to me. It’s my slow descent into turning into my mother. I’ll show myself out and focus on the kids on my lawn.

  • Rand Ortega

Gorgeous layout. Very Natassia Kinski circa “Tess” & “Cat People”.

  • ThaliaMenninger

She looks way better with darker hair. And she’s doing a Lulu look, which is very good for her, although I never would’ve guessed.

    • Rand Ortega

Hello, Hollywood? About that Louise Brooks biopic you’ve been developing for the last 30 years?
      Here’s your lead.

  • http://blue-again.myopenid.com/ blue

Fantastic set of photos. She looks fabulous in all of them. I want alllll the clothes (and to be 20 years younger so I could wear them).

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

    Stunning.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I don’t remember the last time an editorial made me think “I would wear every single thing shown here.”  Yay, Vogue Russia!

  • Pants_are_a_must

All I see is Natalie Portman circa “The Professional”.

    • Lina_bee

       Very much so, yes.

    • MilaXX

I see it in the last shot

  • formerlyAnon

She is lovely and so (perhaps a tad less so) are the clothes.  The photos are fun to look at, though, as you indicate, there is a feeling of playing dress up that, for me, is more pronounced when she seems to be trying for sultry more than flirty (the 3rd & 4th photos of her, the Lanvin coat? dress & the Marc Jacobs following it).

  • MK03

LOUISE BROOKS. All over this editorial. FAB.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

    Neo-Flapper Dresses!

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

Wow, love that second to last shot of her. She’s gorgeous and I think she has a lot of presence. Can’t wait to see Dark Shadows…

  • granddelusion

How old is this child? What are her parents thinking?

  • prettybigkitty

OMG, she looks fantastic!  Love, love, love the dresses.

  • TieDye64

She looks so interesting with the short, dark flapper style hair. You really notice the heart shaped, pretty face. I like this a lot and that last photo is very striking.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1313126032 Ajuna Ariel Fenty

I love. Very age-appropriate and Chloe is giving some serious face. She is serving FLAPPER ERA BOB FOR THE GODS. YAAASSS!!

  • giiiirrrr

These are marvelous. She needs to cut/dye her hair like that, stat.  Also, I am chagrined that I like the Marc Jacobs dress, though I have the feeling that hiking it up solves the problem of the heavy, prom dress-inspired hem.

  • Susan Crawford

The white Lanvin coat must hang in my closet immediately! Too gorgeous! And I’ll take the jewelled sash in the third photo from the top, too, ‘kay? What a good editorial – she looks young yet sophisticated, and she actually looks as though she enjoyed the assignment: smiles, not pouty frownies. Nice change-up!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

love love love love love love.

  • MilaXX

She actually looks cute in the dark hair. I don’t like every shot but #1 is my fav and  #2 & #6 are runners up.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RHLSUVX3NCPB4OSS5BM7GZIXUE P. Capet

    wow

  • girliecue

“Nasty Granny.” If T Lo ever decides start a feature on celebrities who, against all good judgment and good taste, refuse to um… grow up, they’ve got their title.

Chloe Moretz brings these gorgeous clothes to life. Now THAT’s a model! ANTM can now be cancelled (finally).

  • http://twitter.com/algaechick algaechick

Vogue Russia-successfully showing it’s not just about their big sisters Korea and Italia (and America).

  • AuntieAnonny

I’m sorry, but she’s like 4ft tall, that might be her face, but that is NOT her body.

    • Ripley4

Of course it’s her body, and she’s about 5-2.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mary-Elizabeth-Poytinger-Baumer/1516981341 Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

the close up of her face is to die.

  • MissAnnieRN

This is a really good editorial. But I feel a little wrong thinking that about a 16 (?) year old. The cl

  • http://twitter.com/jennawaterford Jennifer Ford

The shoes she’s wearing with the Lanvin are so gorgeously wicked, I think they’ve given me a nosebleed. Chloe has so much personality, and she looks fantastic and genuinely fierce. Love it all.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Girl gives good face.  And that first look is to die for.

  • ErmengardeGreen

I love those Prada flame shoes with the sheer hose, to my own surprise.

  • Terence Ng

There is astoundingly SO much uncanny Thoroughly Modern Millie (both Julie Andrews in the film and Sutton Foster in the Broadway production) here that I’m thrilled.

  • PeaceBang

The make-up is unbelievably gorgeous and girl, THAT IS YOUR HAIR.

  • AudreysMom

talk about 15 going on 30!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_JSGAZPEESHQT47ATH55GNOHHBY Erin

C’mon, ladies.  Somebody somewhere totally thinks Nasty Granny is hot.

Oh, the teenager is cute too.

  • Sophie Collier

Our girl has got some real modeling chops, hasn’t she?  And that wig is flattering as hell too.  WOW!  This was a great little shoot.  Thanks for sharing it, fellas!

  • PrunellaV

I’m a sucker for a short, dark bob. She really works the look and the clothes here.

  • elemspbee

    These clothes, these clothes. stunning

  • fursa_saida

I love this, and particularly the first photo is making me want her to star in some kind of dark, campy movie musical. Sweeney Todd or Cabaret or something.

  • http://twitter.com/Anthagiox Anthony | Lady Gaga

I love the clothing and the shoot, but it all makes her look much older than she is.

  • http://twitter.com/watchinginkdry Dr Skylaser

    I’m getting serious Natalie-Portman-in-Leon vibes.  I’m impressed.

  • Emily Guillory

    The 4th picture is fantastic.

  • butter nut

she is working the shit out of those clothes.  well done!

  • plinkiedoodle

    I love this!

  • Samantha Zito

    STUNNING.

  • Laylalola

I just think she’s the cutest thing ever.

  • mjude

  • http://twitter.com/thisiscarlijn Carlijn Kruidhof

Great pictures, she would be a great model. Just too bad they kind of force her to make herself look like a grown-up while she’s still a child.

  • AmeliaEve

Sue me, but I love the styling. Seeing the 1920s look in these disparate sources was a charming interpretation of some otherwise bland clothes. And I loves me some accessories — fashion isn’t sacred. I like the way these outfits are mixed up and personalized, and I like the way it plays up the black-white-silver theme (though I might have thrown in more pearls). It’s kind of like Madonna circa 1985 as a flapper. (And the flappers themselves were notoriously young.) Adorable.

  • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

She’s a natural. She looks a lot taller, too.

  • Katie Riley

I am IN LOVE with that first picture. She’s awesome.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Awesome! She should consider going dark with her hair. It really suits her.

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

    So cute!

(…I’m sure someone already mentioned this, but were they trying to hat-tip Portman in “The Professional” with that hair?)

  • guest2visits

What a great pictorial and what great dresses (although the Lanvin coat-dress does nothing for Chloe or model).
She looks so good here; it feels like it’s really her, not a wig.

  • KathKo

In my country, nasty grannies say “If you keep your mouth open, a fly will fall inside !”
    I love nasty grannies.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kellyann.reese KellyAnn Reese

She reminds me of Selena Gomez in these pictures.

  • quiltrx

She makes a pretty good model!  Looks like she had fun doing this, too.

  • Beardslee

Really cute.  Clothes are perfectly chosen for her and she is having a great time helping create beautiful photographs.

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

    Adorable.

  • http://twitter.com/amndad amanda lynn

i like the natalie portman / the professional hairstyle homage.

  • ccm800

Hit Girl = IT girl!!!!!!!!!! Love every single thing about every single picture YOU WERQ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RutGot

While I agree that she looks fantastic, I’m still kind of freaked out by this pictures. It’s not that she’s overly sexualized, it’s just that I’m put off by presenting a 15 year old as if she’s 35.
