WERQ: Alison Brie in Victoria Beckham

Posted on April 19, 2012

Oh, Miss Trudy/Annie! Honey, we’re so proud of you! Because, as we’re sure you know, you’ve managed to disappoint us pretty much every time you’ve stepped out in public.

Alison Brie attends the premiere of “The Five Year Engagement” in NYC in a Victoria Beckham dress. Shoes by Brian Atwood and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz.

But girl, you are WERQing this shit from head to toe. There’s not a thing here we don’t like (okay, the hair’s a bit limp, but still). Love the dress, LOVE the cuff, love the makeup and we even don’t mind the shoes because despite the silly-putty color (which we normally hate), they work with the dress and the croc skin finish give them some textural interest. You look adorable, hon. And we know just how much you must have wanted to hear that from us. Don’t you feel wonderful, now? Well done.

Agree. She balanced all the elements really well here. And even though the hair could be better, at least it is shiny and a great color.

  • Sobaika Mirza

Ugh, I love her. She looks great!

  • http://twitter.com/hmbscully WendyD

    FANTASTIC!

  • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

    Love her, love the look.
She’s really one of the few real “character actresses” working out there, while at the same time having ingenue good looks.

    • Sobaika Mirza

I’m actually kind of surprised her career hasn’t taken off (a la Blake Lively) because she’s gorgeous and talented. Granted, Mad Men and Community have more niche audiences, but still.

      • Jecca2244

Totally agree with that. she steals scenes on Mad Men because she’s so good.

      • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

She’s not bland enough to cater to the lowest common denominator the way Blake Lively is. But is that really such a bad thing? Instead of being yet another bland bottle blonde, Brie is hilarious and engaging with loads of personality. I think her career could still really take off, especially with the right comedic movie roles.

        • http://twitter.com/HeckYeahHeckNo KC

She’s is a good character actress!! Despite both being perky and control freaks I think she differentiates Trudy from Annie enough that I don’t really relate the two.

  • tonibaloney

She’s even working, what could be for many, an awkward hem length! Makeup is beautiful and fresh. Love it from tip to toe!

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

Miss Vicky has really nailed that difficult hem length.

  • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

Wow, she REALLY looks like Emily Blunt’s sister here. And she looks fantastic. Yay, Annie!

    • Kristen W

      I can’t believe they’re the same age!

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

    LUV HUH.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

I love her, and I love Community. Don’t forget to watch it :)

  • bluefish

She looks wonderful.  Love the shoes.  Ms. Beckham has more than proven that she can produce goodlooking dresses with clean lines.

  • http://twitter.com/ILikeShiny Cindi Williams

The cuff is my favorite thing here, (and I normally eschew bracelets or watches because they get in the way and hurt my wrist bone).

Still, Alison totally deserves six seasons and a movie for this outfit.

    • Sobaika Mirza

      SIX SEASONS & A MOVIE!

I will always picture Danny Pudi and his dramatic cape-work with that phrase.

  • BazoDee

She looks great. I don’t love the shoes -they seem too heavy for the dress. But everything else is perfection!

  • http://twitter.com/margs4 Margaret Grace

I wish it was a bit shorter, but at this point that length is a VB signature. She still looks great!

  • beebee10

WERQ!! she looks great and I sorta love the hair.

  • UrsNY

    Beautiful!

  • http://pleasewelcomeyourjudges.com/ Brian @ PWYJudges

Alright now, Miss Brie! She is werq-ing it OUT!

Also, can’t wait to see that movie.

  • TheOriginalLulu

Shiny hair, pretty make-up, flattering dress. Even some cool jewelry. Imagine that.
The shoes are just ok and I hatehatehate the hem length, but she looks beautiful. Not quite a werq for me, but very nice.

  • nannypoo

Take 5 inches off the hem and I will totally agree.

    • Spicytomato1

Oooh, I have to respectfully disagree. Cut five inches off the dress and she’s another cookie-cutter Hollywood starlet. This sets her apart and maybe even reads as more confident. She looks fantastic.

  • NurseEllen

So far this movie’s stars are the best dressed I’ve seen in a long time.  I hope the others kept up the standards!  She looks fab, and she is obviously feeling very good about it.  A+ all around.

  • Mildred20

I think she could be Natalie Portman’s sister.
Love the dress, although it pulls across the hips in the first pic.

    • Sobaika Mirza

Apparently she plays Emily Blunt’s sister in that engagement movie. Perfect casting.

  • Patricia Gillett

Perfection. You can tell she feels good about herself.

  • RzYoung

She is cute as a button!

  • elleg929

The hem is a skosh too long for me.

  • marilyn

    She looks great!

  • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

Get it gurl – makeup is amazing.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Someone upgraded her stylist. Or, conversely, got a stylist.

  • Kayceed

She looks very nice – I was guessing Calvin Klein, not Vicky B. Would have preferred some sleekness in the hair, but still, well done.

    • filmcricket

Yes, the hair is really the only weak point, it looks lank, almost greasy. She either needed to go pin-straight or give it some serious bounce; either way, my hands are twitching with wanting to brush it.

  • miagain

    Trudy needs to see this….
    she looks darling here!

  • PaulaBerman

Wow, she is sooo beautiful. Amazing eyes. White is a good color for her too.

  • Judy_J

She looks good and she knows it.  Well done!

  • kimmeister

I will never not love that neckline (provided the wearer has the right shoulders for it).

Also, I’ve never seen her in anything but just noticed that her last name is a delectable cheese.  How cool is that?

  • amywinns

Great look! Super sexy without embarrassing herself, just a beat off her “wholesome” image without straining credulity (AHEM GINNIFER GOODWIN), age appropriate, season appropriate, interesting mix of neutrals and textures, polished without being overdone. Would be happy to start watching her choices more carefully for inspiration if she keeps this up!

  • AuntieAnonny

I find the texture of those shoes a little terrifying, but if I blur my vision when I get to that part, I can live with it. Love that dress.

  • http://annequichante.wordpress.com/ Anne

    Hell’s bells, Trudy!

    • Spicytomato1

Yeah, I was just looking at screen caps of the last MM episode, where she was on the phone with Don in the green floral cupcake dress, and you wouldn’t know she’s the same person.

  • CassandraMortmain

I was on a plane a couple of days ago and the American Airlines magazine had a little interview with her, promoting this movie.  She sounded charming and very down to earth.  And the pic was a knockout.  She was wearing an interesting purple dress and that color looked amazing on her.

She looks great here, too.  The skirt is bunching up a bit but I can overlook that because everything else (shoes, jewelry, makeup) are so fab.

    • BerlinerNYC

She seems delightful. She is hilarious every week on Community. I don’t know why NBC doesn’t do more to promote its own shows via SNL. She would be a great host, and it might attract attention to her ratings-challenged show.

  • Isana Leshchinskaya

    she looks SLAMMIN’

  • PastryGoddess

Look at that “I’m a pretty bitch” smirk on her face.  Werq it gurl!

  • Mary Pressler

She should tattoo that makeup on her face because I have never seen her made up better!  She’s got a great face naturally but this is WOW!  I see why all the boys like her so much!

  • crash1212

That Vicky Posh sure can make a dress! Miss Trudy looks glorious from tip to toe…love it all.

  • poggi

    Fabulous.  So sexy and glamorous.

  • Scarlet39

    Love.  Full stop.

  • EEKstl

Love, even her pedi’s the right color.  One word of advise tho when wearing a very slim skirt of a stretchy material: Don’t stand with your legs apart, ruins the line.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

    Total WERQ!

  • SapphoPoet

Very fresh. I really like those shoes because of the texture. She has beautiful eyes.

  • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/DUVHVU4GJNESZEIXUMVZFZ7UPE Liane

    Vavavoom!

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

    I crave those shoes.

    Craaaaaaave.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

    WERQ!! Looking good!

  • http://twitter.com/veronicamers Susan Howard

Love her. So talented and adorable. Love seeing her looking so fab on the red carpet.

  • filmcricket

That cuff needs to be on my wrist pronto. She’s got that face, that figure, two great TV shows and a legion of nerd-boys lusting after her; she can give up the bracelet.

Seriously, though, she looks fantastic. White’s tough to pull off when you’re pale, but she’s pulling it off like it ain’t no thing.

  • Sartorial_She

Total aside, here, but…*what* is happening to the poor model in the Reed Krakoff ad? She looks as if she has an epic case of stomach flu, and is about to spew the contents of her stomach all over that bag.

  • http://twitter.com/asciident Melissa Brogan

Damn, she really fits the Vicki Posh aesthetic in a way I wouldn’t have guessed. WERQ girl.

  • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

Maybe she’s making up for Trudy’s frumpiness this season? Whatever the motivation, she looks great.

  • allisankelly

    Well done, indeed.

  • butter nut

    fresh-faced Hamptons chic – WERQ!

  • Lilithcat

Hate the clodhoppers, but the rest is chic.  An “IN”, but the shoes don’t “WERQ”.

  • lesmaha

I agree this is a major improvement–BUT–can she stand better???  Legs: 2. Stand on them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=703335175 Hannah Shmulsky

Oh man, even her TOE polish works here! Love that coral shade with those shoes. She looks fab.

  • MilaXX

Somebody got new minions. At the very least she has a new makeup artist because her face has never been beat this well.
    WERQ!

On one of the EW blogs someone tossed her name into the mix as a possible Joanna for the Catching Fire, the Hunger Games sequel. Fellow minions and fangirls, what say ye?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HIZ7S2FRLC52NXARXQ4ERHNOGE Liz

    Beauty!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

Her makeup is perfect. We have the same coloring, WHY DON’T I LOOK THIS THIS? Damned genetics. Damned beer drinking.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

    Beautiful, head to toe.

  • TieDye64

Yay, finally! She looks lovely. I knew she had it in her.

  • msdamselfly

    Bravo!

  • lilazander

    Perfection.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

At first glance, in the full length shot, I thought she had TWO matching ANKLE bracelets on. I was like.. um? I thought only Jen Aniston wore foot jewelry these days? Whew, merely harmless ankle straps. T & Lo probably like the lighter colored ankle straps because it doesn’t break up the leg as much and cause the dreaded stumpification that ankle straps usually create. Aside from my bizarre initial reaction, way to go Trudie Campbell!

  • carolynmo

    Love! Great look!

  • Lina_bee

Oh, I am FOND. Who knew Vicki B would turn out to have such a great eye for shape? This is simple as can be, and yet it works beautifully.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

She looks great. I almost didn’t recognize her when I saw this picture yesterday.

  • Wendi126

She is my favorite of her generation of actors. I love her as Trudy, and love her as Annie. She’s incredibly talented, beautiful and down to earth.. And I know there are fan clubs of Annie’s boobs, and I say rock those big boobs Alison!

  • Lisa Kramp

Really pretty. Her eye makeup is perfect…look at those big, beautiful dark blue eyes!

  • ballerinawithagun

Fabulous! I don’t think of those shoes as silly putty, not enough pink tone for that and they have personality. Love the cuff and the length of the skirt is great, perfect for talk shows, no over exposure!

  • Tom Shea

I love her so much. Be mine, Alison Brie.

  • BioDrag

Please explain why you have ignored the odd bunching that’s going on around her middle?  I’m in total agreement that she’s killing it here, but what’s with the weird fit?

  • Annabelle Archer

    Oh i love !!!

i like the ease of the hair with the starkness of the outfit.  It’s got a wave and great shine, not a split end to be found, framing a gorgeously made gorgeous face.

  • http://chocoholiccynic.blogspot.com Ina Partosa

One of the prettiest faces in Hollywood. I love Annie! :)

  • GTrain

She looks great. Posh does it again!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1241487378 Lauren Lynch Fox

She looks happy. Happy is always pretty!

  • frankystein123

Finally, a dress that shows off all of her curves in the right way, unlike the one she wore to the Mad Men season 5 party, a.k.a, the librarian costume.
