Victoria Beckham for Harper’s Bazaar China

Posted on April 06, 2012

Vicki Posh works some truly amazing styling on the cover of  the latest Harper’s Bazaar China:

Victoria Beckham featured in the May 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar China photographed by Chen Man.

We got nothing. We’re speechless. These pictures are gorgeous.

And man, her lobes must’ve been stretched down to her neck if those are earrings in the first pic.

I always thought if she got the required height, she would be on those runways and slay back and forth

    • terpsichory

      CAN’T! HANDLE! THE! FIERCE! *dead*

      • JosephLamour

American magazines should really take effing note. THIS is what a magazine cover should look like.

        • AthenaJ

Exactly!! I get so sick of the ‘I’m a little sex-bunny’ covers. Give me the ‘I am fierce and scary as shit (with a hint of sexy) cover!

        • ballerinawithagun

          Yes!

      • Jill_3

         Goddess.

    • http://twitter.com/MsAfroCAN Ms JJ

Stunning, though the photoshop is a bit excessive. Love the eyebrows and the dragon atop her head. The fiery hair works really well. Nice to see her looking more ‘adventurous’.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=685365712 Melissa Ahner

I thought the same thing about the photoshopping.

        • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

I haven’t seen that much obvious contouring since the last “Oprah” cover.

      • drdirection

Yeah, that really isn’t her jaw line or chin, is it

        • NCDFan

Looked up several pictures including casual shots. I think it is her jawline and chin. The smoothness of the skin can also be due to makeup too. I’ve seen some pretty dramatic skin effects recently on youtube.

    • http://promiscuouslola.blogspot.com/ Cate

Aaaaand, this is why she is my style icon.
      sheer fabulousness.

    • sockandaphone

      just. WOW.

      • Melvis Velour

        Amen!  Now THIS is glamour!

    • out for a walk

FIERCE indeed. I totally (and often think inexplicably) love her… so it’s nice for it to become a little more explicable.

      • buildmeatower

This. So much this. If there’s an opposite of the Irrational Celebrity Hate List, then Vicky is at the top of mine. Wonderful to see that my love is not for nothing.

    • poggi

She had a freaking dragon on her head, but you still notice HER. She is really good in these.

    • NC_Meg

They’re all stunning but that last one is my favorite. Wow.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

AMAZEBALLS. She is fucking fierce as shit.

    • terpsichory

And can someone please tell me how she managed to make all these angles look so soft?

I mean… those are the eyes of a Dickin’s orphan … does not compute!

    • deliadee

She looks amazing.  The shot with the dragon on her head and her hair blowing forward looks like a tattoo come to life.

    • http://twitter.com/mellafe natalia h

They really are. I wish we could see the dress in the last picture. I love the color combination.

    • Lisa

These are really, really cool!  She looks great, the photography is fabulous, and the colors are gorgeous.

    • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

Oh you’d be surprised. I have ears half so long and covered in heavy chains, but once they reach your shoulder, it takes off a surprising amount of weight.  I’m willing to bet t ones sh’s wearing are tin too.

      • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Plus they may actually be looped over the top of her ears rather than hanging from her lobes. Tribal-style bellydancers do that sometimes to ease the weight.

        • suz72350

I’ve been belly dancing for five years and I gasped at the  fab tribal earrings in picture #1. Wow! The earrings are probably held up with a chain. The chain hooks onto the front of the earring, and then over the ear. Then it can either be hooked to the hair or to the back of the earring.  Check out “kashmiri jhumka” on e-bay for some sparkly Bollywood versions.

      • Melvis Velour

They might actually be attached to the headpiece – I saw some displays of traditional ones and they all included various dangly ornaments as part of the look.

    • TieDye64

Wow, these really are amazing. Fierce!

    • formerlyAnon

She looks amazing. Hair and makeup are great. I’m not *quite* as impressed with her as I would have been ten years ago when I only occasionally thought about Photoshop and magazine covers at the same time. But, still impressed with her and “the team,” whoever they are, deserve kudos.

    • granddelusion

      OMG! She’s almost smiling!

      • Joanna Schuth

What I noticed too! It’s got a lovely, luminous effect on her.

    • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

She’s a beautiful woman but she’s going to be a hunchback by the time she’s 60.

    • kimmeister

      I’ve never seen her look so . . . eyebrow-y before.

LOVE the ring and the nail treatment in the last shot.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3QK7O6OXEX3AYERJWQUXBSVCTY Candy Kane

        Frieda Kahlo fierceness?

      • alyce1213

The nails are like a reverse French mani, in negative.  I don’t always love black nails, but these are great.

        • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

It’s a variation on a 40s style, I believe, to leave the half moons white. Dita von Teese does it sometimes. In the 30s and 40s they often left the tips unpainted as well.

    • Terri Smith

      Snaps up, indeed!

    • LJoRey

I like her sharp angles, but when I move back from the first one all I can see is a space alien.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1046681022 Paula Berman

It looks like those earrings are hollow silver beads, so they probably aren’t as heavy as they look.

      • alyce1213

They’re SO big, I was thinking hollow aluminum, aged like silver.  It’s also possible they’re hooked behind her ears, not through the lobes.

    • marilyn

She just looks mean.  But, I suppose that is the idea.

    • drdirection

God, I so want to dislike her.  I just can’t though.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

fyi, if it helps: i’ve spent a lot of time in 5″ – maybe 7″ long afghani earrings. they dont really hurt & they dont even stretch yr earlobes. you just get used to them. you do feel them but, compared to heels, eh feh, theyre nothing.

otoh, i really like her makeup here. i didnt like the eyebrows at first but, on repeated viewings, they have grown on me [if not in the exact same way they have grown on her].

      edited to add:
ps. if they are earrings, does anyone know where to get them?

      • MilaXX

I would love to rock those, but only if they are hollow

    • MilaXX

LOVE these pictures! She looks really pretty here. The last shot is gorge and I covet that ring.

      • http://www.facebook.com/CatherineKatz Catherine Katz

Love that ring, too!  I’m feeling a need to shop.  Now if that lotto ticket had just won…

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

I LOVE YOU FOREVER POSH SPICE!!!!!

    • guest2visits

Wow. Looks like she’s cast herself in the next epic sci-fi.

    • Linderella

Wait, what?  She’s almost…smiling in the third picture.  Unheard of.
Now if she were both smiling and eating, I would just have a stroke.

    • a_liking

      those EYEBROWS! I love them!!

    • http://kittysdrawings.com Esz

She’s so pretty when she smiles a little bit too – she doesn’t have to be all scowly-face all the time.

      • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

She’s actually really warm and funny in person – I wish she would show that side of herself off more often.

    • poketom

LOVE the dragon hat. So very Targaryen chic.

    • Nonnah

Love that ring in the third pic.

    • Cortney Dean

Fierce as shit. I love Vicki. Always have, always will.

    • Spicytomato1

Amazing. I think she looks prettiest in the second one although I love the composition of the third one.

Side note: at first glance at the thumbnail I thought it was J Lo.

    • quiltrx

Those are pretty fabulous.  It would be nice if American magazines were imaginative in styling more often.  “I look fresh and pretty and really Photoshopped” is getting old.  Exotic is better!

    • Derek_anny

      Les Miserables

Now you can’t unsee it.  *evil laugh*

    • snarkykitten

Why Mrs B, is that a faint smile you’re sporting on the last cover? See how much better you look? No? fine, back to sour pussing

    • TomBord

      GURL!……..thats not your face.

    • fashionablylate

      LOOOOOOOVE!

    • prettybigkitty

She looks a little Emily Bluntish in the first picture.

    • rowsella

      Holy CGI.

    • cleep1000

The bottom two are pretty. The first one, facing straight on, is bugging me. The eyebrows look okay in the other shots, but here they are distracting. I know I’m in the minority!

    • Dani Colman

I am in love with her eye makeup.

      • bellafigura1

        I hate the lipcolor.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

Do you think the blossom branches in the last picture are photoshopped in, or are they actual jewellery/hair doodads? And if actual hair doodads where might I get some?

    • Call me Bee

Freakin’ scary. I’m afraid to look at her…

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=847525391 Barbara Lee Woodruff

Wow, when you see her with some other expression other than scowling, you can see that she really is a beautiful woman. I give major props to the photographer for getting her to change her default mouth position. Love, love, love the styling, too.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Wait…..is that a crack at a smile in that last shot?  Now I’m not even convinced it’s Vicki.  But damn, she is working the shit out of the camera.

    • Martha Anderson

I believe the earrings are actually a traditional headpiece ornament

The eyes and eyebrows alone are stunning  If they had published only that, you would have walked over to the magazine and grabbed it to see more

    • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

I love her even more than in her Spice Girl days. She takes flawless photos.

    • http://twitter.com/LOfficielEbony TheVeryLivingEND

      Yaaaaaaaaasss, Posh!!!!

    • SapphoPoet

Wow. Very commanding. She really takes charge of that camera, doesn’t she?

    • msdamselfly

      I find her revolting

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is
not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater
fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to
know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.

    • http://twitter.com/Wint3rhart Winterhart

Love the ring in the last shot.  Gorgeous!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Those are gorgeous photos-I especially like the second one.  I have to give Posh credit-she’s definitely giving good face!

    • Louise Bryan

First cover, I believe the danglies are extensions of the headdress. I hope, anyway….

    • kingderella

her face looks beautiful, but i dont like the red hair. and i was always a supporter of rhiannas ronald mcdonald look. but here its just not working for me.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I’m jumping in with my praise. Who would have thought 15 years ago that we would give a hoot about an ex-Spice Girl? But she has exquisite taste, I love her clothes and these pictures are amazing. I agree with the others who suggest that the American cover shots have become so snooze-tastic. This is what would grab me at the check-out stand.

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

      AWESOME! gorgeous colors too!

    • alyce1213

      Stunning shots.
I was never a Spice Girls enthusiast, but I admire her move into fashion and think she’s doing pretty well for herself.

    • lundibleu

The second and third pics, you can still see it’s Vicky B, but in the first one? Nope, I don’t see it at all. I really do like the second and third though, she’s been styled (and photoshopped) to look like a living personification of some traditional Chinese and Japanese art.

    • http://twitter.com/taijuuuh Taija HU!

Oh my good Lord. I am GAGGING. I have always loved her, but she’s looking fiercer than ever in these photos. Who knew she could pull off red?

    • LambeeBaby

      Stunning perfection.

    • PeaceBang

Gorgeous images, but I can’t really credit Ms. Beckham with “giving good face” or the make-up artist for great eye make-up and such. These images seem graphically produced to such an extent that they’re basically a representation of Posh rather than an actual photo of her. I think the effects are cool, but much of this “owning the camera” talk is silly, given how much some graphic designer added the fire and intensity into her expression for her.

    • mozzer0906

      Pure perfection.

    • Sunshine16

The second & third pics really stopped me, I didn’t know she could look so soft & pretty.  Gorgeous!

    • TheOriginalLulu

Fabulous. I really love the makeup.

    • RebeccaKW

These shots are gorgeous.  The cover shot doesn’t really look like her though.  Maybe it’s the angle..?  Beautiful woman, just doesn’t look like her.

    • eclare

Wow….fierce but also soft and vulnerable.  Didn’t know she had it in her.

    • Beth G

Holy cow on the eyebrow… that’s not gonna be a thing, right?  Cause only my husband can make his eyebrows do that kind of thing (actually… he doesn’t MAKE them do that… they just sort of end up that way)

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

Damn, she looks GOOD. I am more in love with that gold shadow/line than I care to admit…

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

With that degree of photo manipulation, any one of us could look as fierce.  I’d be more impressed, if she didn’t look as if a graphic novelist had drawn her on PhotoShop.
