Salma Hayek for Marie Claire@Work

Posted on April 24, 2012

Salma Hayek covers the latest issue of Marie Claire@Work magazine photographed by Christopher Sturman in Alexander McQueeen.

And she will SPANK anyone who violates office protocol.

We’re totally loving two things here:

1) That insanely fierce McQueen suit, with it’s special “Allow me to present my navel,” curtain, and

2) The conceit that Salma works in an office and that this is how people who work in offices normally dress.

Alexander McQueen Mini-Dogtooth Multi-Panel Jacket

But seriously, that jacket is the shit, yo.

I would scratch Salma’s eyes out Bronx style for that jacket it is so fierce.

  • MilaXX

I’m glad you included a picture of the jacket. It is indeed nice, but it’s not Salma’s jacket.  She looks like she’s busting out of the thing. That needs to be worn by my sisters of the itty bitty titty committee..

    • MissAnnieRN

It’s really such a shame that none of the labels her husband owns suit her.  She has what I consider to be the most bangin’ bod in Hollywood.  And a gorgeous mug to go along with it.  I have a total girl crush on her and just want her to look fierce 100% of the time.

    • Judy_J

      I’m with you.

    • kimmeister

Member of the IBTC present, ready to snap up that jacket!

      • Tadiana

I’m a card-carrying member and I’m so there.  Hand over the jacket peacefully and no one gets their hair pulled out by the roots.

        • Alex McGeagh

You’ll have to get through me first. But I’ll let ya’ll borrow it 😛

    • Jennifer Coleman

Darn. You’re right. I’ve felt the tension of that suit button acting like it was going to pop off at any second.

    • fashionzombie

I think she looks hot to death, personally.

    • BrooklynBomber

      The IBTC? I love it!

    • tsid2012

Really?  It must be the inner “boob man” in me but I love this jacket on her.  The curves make it interesting as hell to me.  I fear on a smaller busted or thinner woman it wouldn’t hold up the structure.

      • MilaXX

On a smaller woman it give the illusion of curves, but doesn’t look like you’re busting out.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Hey, if I made the kind of money that allowed me to wear McQueen to work, I TOTALLY WOULD.

  • Paigealicious

So much better than those awful Burger King ads she’s in. Really, Salma? BK?

    • poggi

       Although not much more believable.

  • Ted

damn girl, you WERQ that scary boss look

  • terpsichory

Now that gets the water cooler boiling! Love it!

  • muzan-e

I would dress like this if I worked in an office.
I would dress like this to work at home, if I could just find a few spare grand under the couch.
I would dress like this to spank –

    Well. You get the idea.

  • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Her facial expression is not convincing me.  I love love love that jacket, but I don’t think it works well on her.  That button is one deep breath from popping off.

  • Bridget Smith

That is one of the worst pictures of her face I’ve ever seen. I mean, she still has THAT FACE, so she looks fine, but Salma Hayek should never look just fine.

    LOVE the jacket.

  • Heather

I knew a woman who worked as a high-end escort and her typical ‘work’ attire was something similar – think some kind of crazy jacket, SUPER tight pencil skirt, and stilettos – like a fetish version of office wear. The funny/sad thing was she would try to give me her hand-me-downs to wear to my (non-sex-worker) job, including over-the-knee boots with 7″ stiletto heels and a pair of insane peeptoe wedge shoes that she thought would be “perfect” for an upcoming academic conference I was attending. (They were actually kind of cool but she didn’t seem to realize that attending an academic conference = being on one’s feet for 12 hours.)

  • bluefish

    Magnificent jacket.

  • Stefanos Mantyla

That is the weirdest magazine cover I have ever seen… Salma Hayek photographed like an ordinary non-photogenic member of the bourgeoisie in an office, saddled with some “high-fashion” jacket. It just does not add up! And I think she is just too well-endowed to really make the jacket work. Sorry, not loving this.

I just cannot believe this is even a Marie Claire mag; it looks more like a hospital leaflet.

  • SewingSiren

She looks like she’s coming back to work after she just had a baby, and she thinks she can still wear her old clothes. Salma, the jacket is too small!

  • Razvan Matei Dobre

I wanna violate office protocol just so Salma Hayek can spank me 😀

  • Jess

In what way is Salma Hayek a mogul?

    • AnaRoW

She owns her own production company (Ugly Betty, Frida) but she hasn’t done much since her daughter was born.

      • MilaXX

She also has a line of beauty products. (Soaps, moisturizer, toner, etc….)

        • Heather

I love these but wish they were sold somewhere other than CVS. The eye cream is great.

  • MsOlympia

That is the most perfect lip color I have ever seen.

  • SpcilK

Put half on my Mastercard, 1/4 on American Express, and i’ll pay the rest in cash. Gotta Have It!

  • YayaGurl

I wish my job was looking fabulous and banging my super rich husband.

    • AthenaJ

Where do I send my resume?

  • SapphoPoet

    LOVE the jacket.

  • Deborah Lipp

I hate that jacket. I hate it. Hate.

  • kate (not actually a lynx)

    I adore that jacket.

Even though it looks like her vagina is wearing a crown.

    • kimmeister

      I can’t unsee the crown!

  • AthenaJ

Well, that outfit on a body like Salma’s is one way to get a raise.

  • Pannyx

    Love that jacket.

  • StelledelMare

Give it to me this instant

  • TheOriginalLulu

That’s funny, I just looked around me and there isn’t anybody in this office who looks even remotely like that.
Buncha homely bastards in this place.

  • Belle Burnett

If I ran the office, I would wear this!

  • IMNAngryLiberal

I don’t love McQueen in general, but this is sooooo not Ms. Hayek’s suit.

  • MinAgain

She’s so beautiful.  And I would totally wear that suit to work, if I only could afford it.

  • Anathema_Device

Not sure I’m loving the bit on the jacket that hangs open. Given the tight fit on her, it looks like she ripped though it.

  • egl48

Reminds me of Sean Young in Blade Runner.

  • A Shiny O’Connor

Love the Carrie Bradshaw in Vivienne Westwood at Vogue inspiration.

  • j_anson

It is a reminder that a well-tailored suit looks smashing on a curvy woman, though. I think that’s something people tend to forget, because suits aren’t thought of as feminine – hence, I think, some of the negative reaction to this cover. People think of suits as something that look good when you’re NOT curvy, something that looks best when it’s androgynous, not something that can flaunt curves. But boy can they.

  • lesmaha

    Love it!!!!

  • Gabriella M

Is this a new magazine spinoff of Marie Claire, or is it a one-shot independent promotional issue like the Time Magazine Photos issue? Either way, I kind of want a copy – stylish business-wear is damn hard to find. It’ll probably still all be too flamboyant for legal practice, but a gal can dream.

  • schadenfreudelicious

that button is being asked to do ALOT of work, me and my barely B cups would be much kinder to it….

  • newleaf1

Sorry – I know this is unpopular, reading all the comments – but the office worker in me thinks that jacket is just stupid looking.

    • Dorothy & Michael n/a

You don’t have to apologize – you are allowed to have your own opinion!  But frankly, having worked in an office most of my adult life, this is the kind of suit that would probably get you fired if you wore it in the office.  It’s much too tight and suggestive.  The jacket is cute as hell, and would be really amazing on a powerful real estate agent, perhaps.  But in a general office setting, hellz no.

      • Isabel

Time for her to go back to work as a design consultant. She needs to tell her hubby that real women have curves!

      • holdmewhileimnaked

absolutely. i dont know if this is good or not but i surely know it’s true.

i remember reading a few articles here & there [& in the ny times] about women who sued for discrimination upon being told they looked too sexy at work. i dont know what happened w/ those lawsuits but i remember thinking, as i think now: you sued? i just got terminated.

  • guest2visits

I do like that jacket. It just might be ‘real’ enough for the office with less dramatic cleavage. And a not so snug skirt.
In other words; the stunning Salma Hayek may be too spicey for the job.  Duh. Thats where I get the jacket.

  • carpediva

I, too, would punch an unsuspecting trick in the neck for that jacket. Hell for the entire suit, love the skirt and vest too!

BUT despite the sacrilege of editing McQueen, am I the only one who thinks that it would be even FIERCER if the flouncy peplums were removed? Just picture the two curtain things tucked under and this shit then becomes UNPRECEDENTEDLY badass, IMHO.

  • sleah_in_norcal

i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE L-O-V-E that jacket.  i would pair it with a white or gray blouse, though, the black emphasizes the pointy cutouts too much.  i’m retired, and i would wear the shit out of it.

  • Gara St. James

Fierce jacket, but Salma’s looking a little bored on the cover.

  • christinewithanx

Does she run a circus, or does it look a little too ringmastery to me? At any rate, she looks just as bored as me at the office.

    • girliecue

I was thinking it looks like a cross between a ringmaster’s jacket and Victorian women’s wear. But I’m totally digging it! And yes, her face is saying “I wore this to the office just to spice things up. But the office is beyond spicing.”

  • Joyce VG

    The Shizzle!

  • chitowndg

I immediately went to Joan Harris at – what would she be about now?  mid 80s? wearing this.  With a cane.

  • blue

Disagree. The jacket is hideous. Looks like it had an accident with some scissors but she paid a lot for it so she’s going to keep wearing it by golly.

  • Yosa Addiss

Now, to get that jacket on Christina Hendricks!

  • Gayer Than Thou

She is totally channeling her inner Joan Crawford here, and I mean that as a deep compliment.

  • TropiCarla

Wrap it up to-go, please. I’ll have the suit, Hubby will take Salma (his lust for her predates our relationship).

  • holdmewhileimnaked

that suit is amazing. if i still worked in an office & had i three thousand bucks [$3000] plus to buy it [the jacket alone is $3000], why, i most certainly would buy it & wear it to work–upon which i would get called into HR for wearing something inappropriate & made to remove it for the rest of the day if, that is, i wasnt sent home to change.

oh, i know the drill. i know how it goes. it’s part of the reason i dont work in offices any more.

  • M Carlson

I have a pair of shoes that would look fierce as h*** with that jacket. I’ll wear it to work!!

  • joything

JACKET! JACKET!  JACKET!  (oops, pardon my fashion Tourette’s.)

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    *violates office protocol*

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

OUCH! That jacket is so fierce, it put my eyes out. Damn!

  • tsid2012

That jacket is amazing and would look awful on almost anyone who doesn’t have her curves.  Best she has looked for a while.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

want the whole suit, not just the jacket.  Love her.

  • amanda lynn

This will sound silly – but it comes from a place of good… The loss of Alexander was a huge loss (duh) – the people continuing on with the McQueen collections are doing an amazing job.

  • TieDye64

    Ooooh, nice. Coveting the suit.

  • foodycatAlicia

I was just thinking today that I need a new suit and was wondering what was around in a more interesting, fitted jacket. Wish this was the answer for me!

  • LittleKarnak

I believe she works in an office about as much as I believe she actually goes out and buys milk for her kid……..but she does look sort of fierce.

    • Lisa

  • LittleKarnak

I believe she works in an office about as much as I believe she actually goes out and buys milk for her kid……..but she does look sort of fierce.

  • enchanted216

I LOVE it, and I’m not usually a fan of her clothes:)

  • LeBarron

“But seriously, that jacket is the shit, yo.”

I totally read that with Jesse Pinkman’s voice in my head. “Mr. White, that jacket is da bomb, yo!” “That’s how you do a jacket, BITCH!”

  • ccm800

that jacket would look super cute over a tight black dress

  • Leah Burns

Yum. And I mean both Salma and the jacket.

  • Monabel

Lovely jacket, reminds me of the golden days of Miyake Vogue sewing patterns. Sigh.

  • quiltrx

I would cut ALL you bitches for that jacket!

(And Salma in the office in McQueen is just about as believable as her at Burger King.)

  • snookums lynn

That jacket is the bizznezz!!! If I could afford it and it looked that good on me, I’d wear it to work at least once a week!!!! they don’t call me ‘Fancy’ in my office for nothin

  • aesteve212

Has anyone seen those BURGER KING ads she is in!! WHY??? She is amazing, is behind the scenes as well as an actor, married to a man who is richer than god and yet…a burger king ad. I just don’t get it.
    p.s. she looks amazing

  • m0r0

I want that jacket. And it sickens me that Salma Hayek is married to a billionaire and doing commercials. I’m all for women working. But really, she needs to be doing milk and Burger King commercials. Blech.

  • Lisa Utter

Breat jacket, but why does she look so sad?

  • Sarah Thomas

I feel like the Sugarbaker sisters would welcome her into the fold.

  • Nikki

A modified shadbelly! how exquisite and equestrian chic!

  • gabbilevy

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

OMG I could totally wear that jacket.  I could!  It would be wonderful!  Must have.

  • KathKo

I would LOVE to wear that kind of suit at the office.
Very well done, Marie Claire. Now I’m pissed there is no Marie Claire@work in France.
Now, where will I learn what’s the right bag for work or what make up will get me promoted ?

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

    love it…
