Liam Hemsworth for GQ Style Australia

Posted on April 30, 2012

Darlings, it occurs to us that perhaps your dose of mancandy was hastily put together earlier today. It also occurs to us that we have some Bitter Kittens who are not aboard the Gosling love train. All of this is quite understandable and quite easy to address.

Liam Hemsworth featured in the Fall/Winter 2012 issue of GQ Australia photographed by Dusan Reljin.

We don’t know why people say he didn’t get the looks in his family. We think he’s positively fetal but he’s cuter than his brother.

Dull-as-dishwater editorial, though; sad to say. Fifties greaser, GQ Australia? Really?

Pegged jeans?  Are those really back?

    • Brett Hulst

Please God no… I’ve had to burn all those high school pictures, it’s too hard to explain.

      • Alexandria

I dunno if they ever really left, there was a boy i went to high school with (i graduated in ’11) who always pegged his jeans. I called him the cuffmeister.

  • mmgk

I think his brother has more charisma.  It’s not just the editorial that’s dull as dishwater.

    • foodycatAlicia

Yeah, but then I look back at the boys I adored when I was 16 and none of them were Mr Personality either. He’s a cute wee lad.

    • formerlyAnon

I totally agree – but I do think there’s a masculinity in these photos that fashion editorials often lack. Don’t know if that’s to his credit, or the photographer’s.

  • Bridget Smith

Right? And he’s only a year younger than me, so that’s not even an issue! I <3 the dark hair/blue eyes combo.

But as long as we're setting editorials in diners: Matt Bomer did it better. Sorry, kid: I still think you're cute.

    • MilaXX

There’s some cute pics of Matt and his hubby on the web. Seems hubby won an award.

      • BazoDee

        Thanks for the heads up!

      • I’ve Got Rocks In My Bed

Oooh where? Id love to see

        • MilaXX

I think it was on Just Jared. Try a google search on Matt Boner+awards. It should come up.

          • Sara LaBatt

Hee, did you say Boner on purpose?

          • MilaXX

ha! No, that just means it time to go to bed

      • SassieCassy

The hubby is ONE lucky man.

  • Julie Chase

He’s cute, but I prefer the face, body, and age of his brother. Love the shot in the suit though.

  • IraKi

He is yummie! And much better looking than his brother! Not that “Thor” isn’t a site for sore eyes…

  • deathandthestrawberry

I wasn’t crazy about Chris Hemsworth until I finally watched Thor two weeks ago. Now, I get it. That said, Liam is very handsome lad.

    • sweetestsith

I don’t think Chris photographs very well, and he isn’t my type in general, but he’s quite delicious in action as Thor. Especially shirtless….

  • SpcilK

Yawn! – Not my idea of Man Candy, but to each his own.

  • Kiltdntiltd

(yawning behind hands)  Really, blue jeans, white shirts and khakis are deserving of an editorial?  Wow, is men’s fashion on the boring train or what? And Liam doesn’t rev my motor. But we all have our tastes, do we not?

    • indigospade

He revs my motor though! But yah, as lovely as he looks the clothes need some spice.

  • Pants_are_a_must

He’ll always look like he’s freshly out of a boyband – and that’s why I go for Hemsworth Sr. I like my meat a beefy steak, not a Big Mac.

  • kittensnotkids

way too young, and showing poor taste in girls to date, but i think he’s quite a lovely eyeful. far, far nicer to look at than ryan gosling. thank you, TLo, for being the one place on the internet that recognizes not every. single. straight girl is drooling over ryan gosling.

  • Amanda

Gee.  A James Dean inspired editorial.  How refreshingly original.

    • Spicytomato1

I get more more of a “John Travolta in Grease” vibe than James Dean but agree that it’s nothing groundbreaking.

  • Lina_bee

Awww, the lesser Hemsworth is growing up! (A little.) But James Dean he is decidedly not and seeing him dolled up as such is absolutely hilarious. Poor thing. Maybe in a couple of years his face will grow into his body.

  • shopgirl716

Both Liam and Chris are hunks of burning love.

  • MilaXX

I do agree he is 1,000 times better looking than his brother who always looks like he smells to me.  Lessor Hemsworth for me.
Does Hollywood not know how to do a guytorial that isn’t reminiscent of James Dean.

  • hughman

Yeah, it must be hard being the ugly one in the family. #hotactorswhine

  • JasmineAM

    Jon Hamm did it better.

Also, I’m tired as hell of the “1950’s drifter in a motel/diner”.

  • WordyDoodles

    Not everything should be Instagrammed.

  • kimmeister

I find him more attractive than his brother (I’m generally not into blonds).  But the rolled up jeans in the outside-the-diner pics look TERRIBLE on him, especially the side view.  It’s like his butt and his thigh have merged into one block.

  • Gayer Than Thou

Male starlet channels James Dean at a diner — where do those editors come up with such unique and innovative ideas for fashion spreads?

  • Tadiana

Cute, but deduct 5 points from his cuteness score for dating Miley.  If he ever dumps her, he can have half of those points back.

    • Vera

      For reals.

  • Rand Ortega

Why did they have to steal Matt Bomer’s editorial?

  • Rand Ortega

PS: I think Chris is cuter, but I’d certainly eat all of that sandwich.

    (If ya get ma meanin’!)

  • AlexisPayne

Is this the same diner they used for Matthew Bomer’s editorial?

    • BazoDee

Well you *made* me go back and look -but yes based on the brickwork and the booth cushions it is the same

    • Jo Miller

Yes, the same diner and motel. It is Cadillac Jack’s Cafe and the Pink Motel in Sun Valley, CA (in the greater Los Angeles area).

    • Brian @ PWYJudges

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing!

  • Evan Hart

He’s an attractive kid, but every time I see him I imagine that he has the personality of Derek Zoolander.

  • Lilithcat

He needs to take his feet off the counter.  That’s disgusting.

  • Jessi03

Thank you again [fill in your deity], for the gift that is the Hemsworth brothers.

  • BazoDee

Isn’t the same location and styling as that Matt Bomer shoot?

    • Athena Bast

I was thinking virtually the same thing. Like, I’ve seen this diner before and recently. If not Bomer then Hamm.

  • snarkykitten

um, didn’t Matt Bomer just do the exact same shoot?

  • Tom Markiewicz

scrolling through, i literally thought this was almost a year old, because it was so familiar. not old, just expected.

  • giiiirrrr

That cover is YUM.  That is all.

  • Sara__B

Count me among those bored with his one facial expression. He’s nice-looking enough; just dull and predictable.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

it’s also los angeles, isnt it?

  • gdougs

The fact that he’s dating Miley Cyrus just ruins him for me.

  • toriadoria

So this is the Hunger Games one, not the Thor one? Much better, thanks. The Thor one is icky, somehow. That post you had a little while ago with him and Channing Tatum (He of No Head-Neck Size Differential) grossed me out.

  • toriadoria

Actually, that’s not a very nice thing to say. What I mean is: Something about their physicality (Thor & Tatum) makes me uncomfortable, and not in a fun way. Anyway, Hunger Games Helmsworth is much appreciated.

  • Kimmu

Aww, Bitty. Bitty no, what are you doing? Go back back to being cute and talking about how squirrels mystify you and how you threw knives at Chris’s head when you were children.

I shall now go stare at the Hemsworth the Elder photoshoot from Out magazine and then sit here consumed with lust for the rest of the evening.

  • Nonnah

I’m not getting off the Gosling train for this.  However, it would be lovely if we were arriving at station Joe Manganiello.

  • Ally Monge

  • guest2visits

At least he’s not parked in a car somewhere; the usual moody guy pics. It’s moody guy at the diner pics. Where’s my waffles.
Handsome; certainly a cute cover shot.

  • boweryboy

    Thank you gay godfathers.

Gosling does nothing for me.  Hemsworth neither but he’s nicer to look at.

So, is the James Dean/50s greaser the prerequisite male fashion editorial now?  That, I’ll say, is truly dull as dishwater.

  • mrspotts66

    i admit: i’m drooling a little bit.
thank you for understanding that not all of us love the gosling.

  • Ashley

    JAYSUS! He is HOT!

  • RonHermione42

I’m sorry…how can people NOT be on the Gosling love train? Though, admittedly, one picture does not a sufficient dose of mancandy make.

  • ccm800

Did he get his nose done?????!!!!! Man I hate the cover layout (type) design on this mag cover, but I want those jeans.

  • kikisayshi

Wha… did you say something TLo?   *drool*

  • Addicted2Glamour

Yawn. The younger Hemsworth is not as hot and as talented and as newsworthy as his publicist and the media and his girlfriend would have us believe.

  • Ted

didn’t GQ Italia do this already with Matt Bomer?

  • ZnSD

    meh. I’m cuter.

  • DCSheehan

What is that in his mouth? Cigarette? Lollypop? Thermometer?

    • bellafigura1

      Considering the setting, toothpick.

  • Maria

Feh. I know him as the Lesser Hemsworth. Not nearly as cute as the Greater Hemsworth. And he seems to have a single, dull facial expression.

  • RebeccaKW

I go back and forth on him.  I prefer his brother in general, mostly b/c he is older, and I like his build better.   Plus, I rarely think Thor doesn’t look hot, even in ill-fitting clothes.  Liam here usually has one expression.  This editorial is pretty good, though.  Still doesn’t seem to be a lot of variety in his face, but he’s not really shot to show that.  I love the cover shot (his eyes!) and I don’t mind the 50’s throwback looks, but the rumpled suit is not his best photo.

  • mozzer0906

I think he is far more handsome than his brother.  Yes, he is a fetus, but damn.  I wouldn’t kick him out of my bed for eating crackers.

  • Jennifer Schulte

Seems a might similar to the Matt Bomer spread from not long ago.

  • Traci Crabtree

He looks like Kris Humphries in the shot of him looking through the mini-blinds.

  • ladywholikesbrainymen

    There is

    • bellafigura1

Sorry, but I stood next to Ryan Gosling in a Manhattan building recently, as we waited to present IDs to get through security.  He RADIATED humor, intelligence and an edge.  You would definitely not pass him on the street without picking up on it. It just shines off him. I was in a restaurant once where Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were eating dinner, and Newman had the same quality and he was in his 70s by then.  Gosling has a similar aura.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

He reminds me of that kid that played Beaver’s older brother, but that might just be the editorial.

  • glennethph

Isn’t that the diner from Grease 2?  It comes to mind because I just saw it a few weeks ago.

  • Beth G

I’ve now figured out who I want to play Maverick in the remake of Top Gun… the ONLY movie from the 80’s I want remade so that i can get the image of Tom Cruise out of my mind.

  • TieDye64

  • formerlyAnon

Don’t know if the credit is due to him or to the photographer/stylist/etc. etc. – but a noticeable masculinity comes out in these pictures, even though neither he nor the clothing strike me as special, or especially interesting. That’s an intangible that’ll stand him in good stead, if the credit is to him.

  • P M

    Bland as overly milky coffee.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

Why do I hear Roy Orbison music every time I look at these pictures?
