Krysten Ritter in Alice + Olivia

Posted on April 18, 2012

This is almost too adorable:

Krysten Ritter films a segment for “Extra” at The Grove in an Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet ‘Camellia’ flare box pleat dress.

Alice + Olivia Fall 2012 Collection

We keep looking at it and fighting back our bitchy fashion blogger instincts. “Maybe a red belt? Some little pop of color on her feet?” Fuck that noise. It’s perfect as it is. Love the hair, love the earrings, love the shades. Just love the whole “Minnie Mouse, Movie Star” feel of it. It suits her.

It’s an adorable dress. I want it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1183772509 Jen Hughes

I love it. I am a sucker for big polka dots.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Everytime she appears in one of those adorable quasi-retro outfits, I keep thinking this must be what Zooey Deschanel thinks she looks like.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1183772509 Jen Hughes

OMG you are so right. She is a far less irritating/more fashionable version of Zooey.

      • ringthing

The fact is, Zooey is well in her 30s, even though her TV role is a girl in her 20s (and a blatant throw back to Marlo Thomas in That Girl). This Krysten whoever is much more the age for this kind of look; it works so much better on her.

        • http://twitter.com/talithan Marina

Their age difference is only two years (30 vs. 32)–I think you’re being a little hard on Zooey.

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2VBWWGHZEBKTVQMXE5SO5NCU2I Mich

zooey deschanel is only 1 year older than ritter. zooey is only 32 i think. ritter 31

        • sweetestsith

I think it has more to do with Krysten picking out better shapes, and actually getting them tailored. Zoey tends to wear clothes with awkward shapes and random accessories. All to often a case of “I can see what look you were going for…but you missed. Tragically and loudly”.

          • NC_Meg

Also, Krysten seems to just be going for retro. Zooey goes for retro and super twee. Plus Krysten doesn’t pose all childlike like Zooey.

          • adnama79

Also, Krysten is funnier and a better actress.  I project my opinion of the person onto my opinion of the person’s fashion.

            Zooey can sang, though.

      • poggi

You are right.  Her face is bit more angular and her hair color/cut a little bit more severe than Deschanel which saves her from being too cute.  She looks just cute enough.

      • NinaBoo

When I see her I think, “Katy Perry’s sane cousin”.

      • Amy Ellinger

holy crow pants, you are in my mind, and therefore awesome.

    • howdoilook

Wow, seeing a lot of Alice + Olivia these days. Guess they’re not just for proms & weddings anymore!

    • TieDye64

It does suit her and she looks cute as hell.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=49702581 Susan Bullard Mayer

Super cute!  I really wish she were wearing a pink shoe or belt.

    • BrooklynBomber

The version on the model is precious (and I don’t mean in a good way). What gives, Alice & Olivia?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

She is the cutest. Probably ever. And my first instinct was “that dress would KILL with red shoes,” but who cares, I want to get margaritas with her and talk boys.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Deborah-Jozayt/100002949685297 Deborah Jozayt

I would never have thought to put a cute sweater/blouse over the whole dress like in the model photo! Sqeeeee! I’m gonna watch an episode of My little Pony for my fix of totally adorable!

    • Sobaika Mirza

She’s looking fly. And much better suited to this look than say, Zooey Deschanel.

    • sarahofalessergod

It’s a skosh Minnie Mouse but I still love it.

    • http://profiles.google.com/vispreeve Daniel Vispreeve

      Kenley’s ideal client.

      • Julie Fountain

My first thought was “that looks like a Kenley dress.”

    • DinaSews

I think any pop of color would have sent this straight to Disneyworld.  I love it just like it is.

    • SewingSiren

I haven’t seen the show that this actress is in yet, but she looks fabulous. A bit like she’s playing the part, but that’s okay.

      • adnama79

Gilmore Girls or Don’t Trust the B- in Apartment 23?

    • quiltrx

      LOVE IT.

    • Shoelover1512

      I WANT THAT DRESS!!!!

    • lilazander

It trully is pretty. I thought pop of red in  shoes or belt as well, but it would bee too obvious of a choice, perhaps.

    • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

I can’t dislike a thing about this look.  Brava!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      I love it all.

    • kirble

I love how the polka-dots themselves have rough edges; it gives a little bit of an edge (or at least a pop of something interesting).

    • Anathema_Device

I love polka dots. Agree that she could have used to punch up the accessories with either color or something, but this is pretty damn cute. Somehow, even though she is wearing a really full skit on a polka-dot dress, with flats and cute bangs, she manages to not look twee.

    • kimmeister

She looks great.  I wish I could pull off that hairdo.

    • guest2visits

Another Zooey. Two girls wearing the same style.  One that brings a more boho feel; the other slightly more sugary.
Both can be alittle too much of a good thing.  I find this too cutesy; almost a mock-design of a dress. Whereas the
model gave it a needed edge.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I do love me some polka dots.  She really does look adorable.

    • RebeccaKW

Love.  I also love the cute sweater paired with it on the model.

    • Sarah Thomas

You know, it is this dress that made me realize that “The Woman” who will define the first decade of the 20th century is Katy Perry. When we look back from 30 years in the future, she will be like Cher or Nancy Sinatra or Madonna.

    • fungstyle

She is my current girl crush. I absolutely loved her character in Breaking Bad, though I have to say her new show looks just awful.

    • marilyn

The whole effect is cute, but she is reminding me vaguely of Katy Perry, whom I dislike.  I suppose this is okay as long as she has normal-colored hair.

    • unbornfawn

The whole thing is cute and fun.

    • carolynmo

Yeah, I like it, too.  I just hope it doesn’t become a fashion rut for her.

    • TheOriginalLulu

I love a good polka-dot. She looks great!

    • http://www.facebook.com/donedwards710 Don Edwards

Its all a little matchy-matchy. It works on the model, because of the blonde hair and that they made it into a skirt. On Ritter it just overwhelms. Its just a whole lot of black with a dash of quirk from the polka dots. Like something from Zooey Deschanel’s reject bin.

    • http://twitter.com/connectinglines Me Again

It looks like Kenley designed it.  Which, from me, is a compliment.  I liked Kenley’s stuff.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

      Adorable!

    • Karen O’Hara

Just seeing her face makes me jones for Breaking Bad in the worst way.  That show is like crack.

      • MilaXX

that show is like blue meth

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HIZ7S2FRLC52NXARXQ4ERHNOGE Liz

      So cute!

    • EEKstl

She looks darling.  I wouldn’t change a thing.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Red shoes would have been better, but she looks freaking adorable. Love her.

    • Libby Rhoman

      I want that sweater!!!

    • MilaXX

I like it. Sure a pop of red somewhere wouldn’t have hurt, but I dig it as is. She has a look that she appears to work pretty well.

    • Kyle Crawford

You guys went Kenely on this one, I get PURE MONDO!  esp the model… sort of Mondo mocking Kenely. Either way I really like it

    • granddelusion

That is adorable. Too bad her hair looks like a wig.

    • alyce1213

Adorable dress, but a little too twee (she’s 30).  If the skirt were a bit less flare, it might mature the dress a bit and make her legs look less skinny and Minnie.

    • Lina_bee

No idea who she is, but a bright red clutch would do wonders. Also, I really like the blend of 1952 and 1967 style elements…even if the bangs are way too young for my taste.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

      So, so cute!

      I love this entire look!

    • ErmengardeGreen

      Flats! Hooray.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Adorable.  Want that dress!  Love polka dots!

    • Lisa Kramp

I want to put her in my purse and take her home! Ah-dorable!

    • Sophie Collier

It is really cute.  Oh, she should have grabbed some oxfords, right?  Heh.  (I am with TLo on the oxford love.)

    • Jaclyn Semple

I wore an almost identical look (vintage dress, black peep toe pumps) to my best friend’s wedding to his partner. Nice to know my virtual gay uncles would have approved!

    • CharCrop

Luv it! You’re right about needing a pop of color though…but it is ador-a-ble!

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

      CUTE!

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

      who is she? looks cute.

    • JustJenn142

      So cute!!  Very well done!!

    • Truthiness2U

I am once again consumed with jellusy, so job well done with the dress, make-up and hair.

      Way to go, Gia Goodman.

    • butter nut

      WERQ!

    • Nancy Karpen

      It’s perfect for her.

    • Beth G

Freaking cute, and LOVE the shoes, and it looks better than the model 1000x
