In or Out: Alice Eve in Donna Karan

Posted on April 24, 2012

We’re … not fighting so much as having a mild disagreement over Miss Alice’s look here.

Alice Eve attends special screening of “The Raven” in LA in a Donna Karan dress.

Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2012 Collection

Lorenzo thinks she looks amazing. Tom does too. See? Not fighting. But Tom also thinks the dress doesn’t look as good on her as it does on the model, possibly due to her larger boobs but probably mostly due to the fact that she arranged it so that we could all get a good look at her larger boobs. It’s all shoved over and gaping wide on her when it looks kind of chic and demure on the model. We are both in agreement that her hair and makeup are pretty amazing and mostly like the accessories, although Tom thinks the shoes are a bit on the distracting side. Basically, we think she looks great, but Tom’s a bitch and won’t give her a WERQ due to his nitpicky quibbles.

And you, darlings?

Vote Now!

IN! Serving it UP, bitches!

OUT! Too boobtacular.

Voting on Taylor Schillings table runner of a dress is still wide open, poodles. Remember: expressing opinions helps the environment.

My quibble is with the belt buckle – the belt’s important to the dress, but both the runway version and the RC version look chip in a chip way, as Alberta might say. Otherwise, full-on WERQ from me.

    • TonyGo

I was about to post that the buckle on the model at least adds some visual interest.  The buckle she’s wearing disappears so much on the dress that I had to look several times to see if she was even wearing it belted.  Overall, its a solid IN.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=739196218 Leah Burns

The new one looks kind of cheap too. I’m totally pro-boob, but not digging accessories here.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

”Chip” was the first word that came to my mind, too. Out.

  • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

I’m with Tom on this one.  Pushing the dress off the shoulder and onto the neck gives it a slightly strangled look that I can’t get behind.  Doing so also throw off the proportions on the other side, so that a piece that would hav cut over across the shoulder now gives her a sort of strained looking armhole. It still looks good, but she could have knocked it out of the park.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=719457376 Molly Adrianson

       yes, precisely.

    • guestela

I agree with you entirely except for the word “slightly.”

      Out.

    • Rrroza

Exactly. Out. (and yes the shoes are distracting. )  Love hair&makeup &purse though.

  • Vaniljekjeks

In!  I really like it.  And as a fellow person with enormous boobs, I will let the odd positioning slide.  Boobs tend to have a mind of their own in determining where a dress falls, and just how boobtacular it turns out.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

agreed–except that whoever dressed her pulled this one to make it do what it’s doing. & what it’s doing is not flattering. it doesnt look like it just happened on its own; ie: it isnt, say, a migratory problem. i would bet you that scarf thing might even occasionally move downwards towards where it was meant to be upon which she’s let her fingers do the walking &, in this case, pulling to change it back to its unappealing neighborhood.

      • http://profiles.google.com/marteani Barbara Guttman

Looking at how it is on the model, it looks like Ms. Eve unfolded the…strap? we’ll call it a strap, it looks like she unfolded the strap and pushed it up off her chest so that it would sit on her neck instead of her shoulder.  It’s really bunched up under her arm there.

    • DinaSews

I’m with you Vaniljekjeks.  The scarf looks like it slid up over her boob giving her that strangled look.  People without big boobs just don’t understand the dynamics of dressing with them.  It’s an IN for me.

    Fabulous! End of story! IN

  • Stefanos Mantyla

    IN.

    She looks great!

  • MK03

Enh, I’m not digging the blue shoes or the bleh belt (I much prefer the one on the model), but I can’t say she looks bad. Although, something weird is going on with the bodice. It looks like it broke and someone hastily re-gathered it in the car before she got there.

  • janetjb

Hate the shoes with this dress.  OUT

  • http://www.facebook.com/dalca4 Denise Alcantara

I hate picking between my two dads but I have to agree with Tom – she looks like she’s been stuffed into the dress.  I gave it a WERQ when I initially saw it but when I *really* saw it, that damn devil really is in the details. OUT!

    • janetjb

Every In/Out post comes down to the details, doesn’t it?

  • janedonuts

I kind of miss the more eye-catching belt, but basically think she’s killing it here. As a person with boobs, I can relate. Also, wouldn’t this look great on Christina Hendricks?

  • http://twitter.com/The_Bugler Anna Daugherty

Love it! Retro without being too obvious.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1401197785 Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

So close. She missed it by a boob. Out.

  • vanjar

She should’ve been letting the dress do the heavy lifting, instead of the boobs. Out.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Team Tom.  That’s an incredible dress, but her stylist should have trusted it to do its job.  Shoving it over makes it look kinda awkward and ruins the line.

But as we all know, I’d sell what’s left of my soul to look that good, so IN.

  • BrooklynBomber

OUT. She has to contort herself, and she still doesn’t look right. Plus, blue nails don’t work with a big girl dress like that.

    • funkypeanut

It’s not just that but that the nails are a greyish blue while the accessories are more of a purply blue, and together they make my eyes twitch. And maybe it’s the eye twitch, but the bustline is all wrinkled so that it looks like it’s gathered over elastic. Not good.

  • fireontiger

She’s in, but Tom is right, and it’s not a WERQ for the reasons mentioned. The model is killing it in that dress because the boobs aren’t so off, the belt is better, and she’s not wearing a pair of smurf shoes.

Also, that nail polish is making my eyes twitch. Too many shades of blue.

    She still looks great.

  • lesmaha

This is an OUT for me–no need to pull the dress into boobtackiness.  Shows bad judgement–ruining what could have been a great look and a pretty good dress.

  • Scimommy

Huh. I really hate it on her (but like it on the model). The black panel going across her chest and up is just… weird. The black backdrop is also not helping. OUT.

  • newleaf1

Seems to be giving her a bit of side boob.  Go up a size then it’s a werq.

  • marilyn

    In.  She looks great.

  • IAmJ

I love you, Lo, but I’ll have to side with Daddy Tom on this one. Not loving this as much on her as I do on the model. The original belt is infinitely better and I hate (HATE) the nail polish. The clutch is awesome, though. OUT.

  • MzzPants

IN, with a point off for minor details.

  • NC_Meg

IN. I love the pops of blue. My biggest problem is the neck of the dress. It’s like when the seat belt comes up too high on your neck and chokes you.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

it needs 1/ the buckle; 2/ to hint at its sexuality rather than serve it up, apple-mouthed pig-style [ie: as on the model instead of as on the starlet]; 3/ accordingly, not to look so much like she’s dragged half a t-shirt or a very large sock over a strapless dress, & 4/ a less distracting shoe color. not to mention that, had you not told me, i wouldve been certain she was january jones. but that’s more my fault than hers [at least if one considers unfamiliarity w/ celebrity a fault].

anyway, too bad–she’s a pretty person in a beautiful dress which is in this case worn wrongly.

  • Eclectic Mayhem

With Tom on the boobs thing but she’s still in.

It might just be the way the light is hitting her but are her eyes different colours?  If so – cool!  If not, they’re a very lovely shade of blue anyway.

    • kimmeister

I noticed that her eyes are two different colors too!  Like Kate Bosworth.

She is lovely, but the top edge looks puckered and the sweep across is too high.  Clashing blue accessories (and HATE the bracelet).  Umm, I guess that equals out for me.

  • BayTampaBay

Like the dress, hair and makeup but hate the belt and shoes with this dress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Irene-Wroclai/733770581 Irene Wroclai

OUT. It looks great and original on the model, but cheap on her.

  • kikisayshi

    IN – despite the boobage.

  • LittleKarnak

Yeah, a little boobtastic but still In for me.

  • EEKstl

IN for all the reasons it should be in – gorgeous dress, pop of royal shoe to the basic black (one of my fave combos), fab accessories, hair, etc.  But that top piece is keeping it from a WERQ.  Either it’s hiked up to better reveal her boobaliciousness, or it’s just too damned small due to said boobaliciousness.   Either way, looks like she’s choking.  If that piece were lying more like on the model it would have worked a lot better. Maybe she should have just gone up a size.

  • Anathema_Device

I’ll vote in, but agree with Tom that this isn’t a WERQ. The shoulder strap looks better across the shoulder than it does around her neck like seat belt on a short person. But her body is slammin’ in that dress.

  • MilaXX

Small IN. I like the look and I like the shoe color, but not particularly that shoe. I would have preferred a pump over a peep toe.  HATE the boob display. It makes it look like the dress is choking her instead of sweeping across her chest. It borders on tacky. Still I like the total package.

  • carolynmo

I’m with Tom. She has it, um, arranged, awkwardly, and I agree that the shoes are distracting. Sorry, Lo.

  • StelledelMare

Love the clutch and the bracelets. She should’ve left the belt the way that it was. Overall it’s an OUT for me. Looks much better on the model

  • IMNAngryLiberal

This dress looks as though it was made for a much taller person — the top just fits weird and the skirt is too long for her height.  Love the dress on the model … not so much on the celeb.

  • TAGinMO

    I’m with Tom. Tepid IN.

  • guest2visits

Oh no-no; this dress is flipping magnificent on who ever Alice Eve is.  Alot more presence, or life than the model.
But she about ruined it with the shoes, I think.   Should have gone with black nail polish, and black shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/chylde bellalozza

OUT! She’s far too short for that dress.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I’m feeling bitchy too. I don’t get why she couldn’t just wear it the way the model has it, which is pretty much perfect and fantastic.
Hair and makeup are great, but I don’t like how matchy all the accessories are. Not everything has to have that same shade of cobalt on it. It feels like she worked too hard at it. Doesn’t feel effortless enough.
She’s still IN because she doesn’t look bad, but no werq from me either, sorry.

  • RebeccaKW

I’ll go with In, b/c she does look good.  She’s just not werqing that dress as it should be.  It definitely needs some adjusting in the boob area.  As any girl with big boobs knows, you don’t have to expose them for them to be prominent. I like the belt, just not her belt.  I’m not sold on the shoes.

  • 3rdsister

IN — radiant!  And I don’t even know who she is. . .

  • demidaemon

I’m sorry, but a woman with a larger bust should not wear this dress, AND they shouldn’t push it so that their boobs are one step away from a wardrobe malfunction. OUT.

  • SpcilK

Love it! She is werk’n it like a hooker with a heart of gold. That’s not an easy task because the fabric on this dress looks very inexpensive.

  • erinbinek

OUT.  The styling is all wrong here.  The dress doesn’t fit her- not her dress, as they say.  The accessories are too matchy-matchy, and not in a good way.  Hate the shoes with this dress.  There.  I feel better now.

  • hexiadetrix

Out. There is too much going on up top and the boobage looks awkward. Her hair looks lovely, though.

  • http://deeplyproblematic.blogspot.com/ RMJ12345

Can’t believe all of the hate in the comments! She looks fab, though I concede Tom’s point. IN.

  • annrr

Close for me, put the top back where it should be and replace the button earrings with some danglies, that aren’t blue

  • oatmealpie

If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Amirite?

    In.

  • lrhoff

She doesn’t look terrible, but the shoes are very distracting to me.  As for the comparison between her rendition and what’s on the model is spot on, however.  Not really digging the sex pot attempt.

  • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

IN – she looks pretty fierce. I would move that collar thing just a smidge though.

  • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

I’m calling this an IN but not a WERQ. (I’ve always tried to make BOTH dads happy.)  It’s not too ‘boobtacular’ (see Minaj, Nicki) so it doesn’t merit an OUT. But as others have pointed out, it needed the runway belt or one like it; the pulling over the shoulder cheapens it; and the blue nails subtract from an otherwise gorgeous look. Hair, makeup and clutch are spot on. Thus: IN. Mostly.

  • NurseEllen

This is absolutely a WERQ.  I like her shoes much better than the model’s, and I like the model’s belt much better than hers.  Agree that the neckline rearrangement is patently unsuccessful, and much better in the original.  However, that does not take away from the WERQ-worthiness.  She looks fabulous!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ENBX3563Q4ZNCVRGSJVFIB7OAA Thom

I’ll agree with Tom, but I’ll give this woman her due and call her IN.

Love the earrings, nail polish and bag: the nails match her eyes exactly, so the color story of her head continues on her wrist.

  • http://tigergray.blogspot.com/ Tiger Gray

I love everything but the weird swoop over the top ruins it all.

  • AlexisPayne

I dont care for how it lays on her, but otherwise lovely. In.

  • butterflysunita

IN.  Definitely not a WERQ because of the boob issues.  But overall she looks beautiful–looks like she’s going for a bit of a Grace Kelly vibe.  Though Grace Kelly would never have Smurf blue nails.

  • kimmeister

Whoa, I totally thought it was Elizabeth Banks at first.

I say in.  I didn’t even notice the boobs much (come on, they’re not THAT prominent) but I think it would look better with the slash of her right shoulder showing, like on the model.  Love the cobalt blue accessories too, although it’s probably one too many in that shade.  Hate the nail polish though.

  • howdoilook

    IN for me!

  • hughman

Pretty. Although I am also distracted by her claw hand holding that clutch like it’s a rock she’s about to throw through a Burger King window.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

Don’t like the shoulder thang, and the top looks like it’s elasticized over her breasts… tacky…. Don’t like the shoes, either. OUT.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

It’s a little tight on her

  • http://twitter.com/karenrubyleo Karen

Out, the top bit looks like she couldn’t on properly so just left it like that, but the blue and gold accessories are beautiful.

  • DominoEstella

    The boobs don’t work here.

  • rh33

Love the dress on the model. Not feeling it on her. But she did pull together a good look. I give this an IN-ish.

  • sleepycat

werk! I like the model look better because of where the strap is placed on her shoulder and not her neck, but the accessories really carry the look. Easy IN, just points off for the neck strap

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

OUT! The only blue accents she needed were her eyes. And maybe that purse. Too much bling.

  • http://www.facebook.com/sorana.tarmu Sorana Tarmu

OUT. She took a fabulously elegant dress and managed to make it look slutty.

  • http://twitter.com/Eovaai Eovaai

I’m with Tom. OUT due to the weird placement that totally ruins the line of the dress.

  • Sara__B

Too boobtacular, and too squashed. The model looks elegant; the actress does not. (I do like her Grace Kelly hair.)

  • enchanted216

OUT.  She looks like she’s being choked!  And too many matching blue accessories.

  • FashionShowAtLunch

As someone who is amply bosomed, I understand what’s going on with her.  Sometimes there is a look that you LOVE on the model but when it’s on you it is just way sexed up, simply because of your body type.  There are garments that I would love to wear as “chic and demure”, but instead just end up working them as “sex bomb”.  Not as fun as you may think.

Ultimately, you wear a dress that makes you feel good and stop worrying about whether you look too boobtacular or not.  Otherwise you’d never leave the house. I’m not so sure she actually arranged the dress like that – I feel like that’s just the way it’s falling on her.  I don’t actually think the neck could go down further on the left shoulder – it probably wouldn’t sit right.

I think she looks incredible; she can’t help the boobage.

  • http://twitter.com/delysia_lafosse Delysia LaFosse

I’m with Tom. A few adjustments would make a huge difference here. Still, definitely IN.

  • sagecreek

Alas, out. So close! But poor fit on the dress, and oh, the homemade blue nails. If there was ever a color that you need a professional manicurist for? It’s blue. So OUT.

  • jw_ny

    OUT

she probably deserves an in because it really is a pretty dress, but her decision to shift the shoulder to shoulder sash up to her neck just really bugs me…and I & you both know she did it intentionally to show off her boobs.  She’s so proud of them.  That’s not how the sash is supposed to worn and she knows it! I want to slap her.  Also, I’m not liking the blue shoes either….hate the blue nail polish (childish.)  The other accessories are nice, her hair and makeup are very pretty.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I don’t know who she is and this does not make me want to know who she is so I say NON.

  • Aly Light

IN, though my issue with it is that it’s a little too literally retro.

  • http://www.djplaw.com/ Tadiana

In, even though the intentional pushing of the top to show the boobs more is extremely annoying.  I also liked the model’s belt better.  But still, accessories are good and overall she’s a solid in.

  • http://twitter.com/yessveee Sarah Veenstra

I agree with Tom – but she still gets an In.

  • Lisa

OUT.  It looks much better on the model than on Alice. I agree that the shoes are very distracting.  But I think that bugs me is that she doesn’t look comfortable or like she’s enjoying herself in that killer dress.  The model looks like she was born to wear it, but this girl looks like she just can’t get it together.

She reminds me, both in looks and fashion, like my main complaint about January Jones – she tries to be cutting edge, and it’s just not her.  I get the feeling this girl might have the same problem.

  • KaileeM

I don’t know if I like how all of the accessories are blue; blue earrings, blue shoes, blue accents on the clutch, blue nails (although, I totally dig that shade!). But, she looks very pretty. A WERQ? Probably not. But quite lovely, for sure.

  • ChelseaNH

In, yes; WERQ, no.  I, too, miss the belt buckle but it’s the placement of the scarf-thingy that keeps her out of the running.  And are blue shoes officially a thing now?

  • benjamin478

IN, but tom’s right. not werq worthy

  • ccm800

OUT! it looks like a Pillsbury roll package after you’ve whacked it on the edge of the counter and the dough starts pushing out.

    • poggi

Hah! Yes she is poppin’ fresh.

  • CatherineRhodes

    The dress needs the belt.

    OUT

  • GTrain

Much better on the model, and I don’t usually think that. OUT

  • Derek_anny

    Good, but no WERQ.

  • Joyce VG

She’s very va va va vooom. IN.

  • altalinda

    Out.  Shoes are distracting.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Could have been very cool – I really love it on the model.  But I think this girl is just too much for this dress – I don’t mean too heavy by any means.  She has a gorgeous figure – but it’s too much…. figure – she’s got too much boobage to let the top lay the way it was meant to, that means you lose the cool exposed other shoulder the way it was meant to be.  She’s got too much hourglass to take advantage of the slit (and she/her stylist rightly play down the slit) but then you miss another sleek element of the original design.  If you have to do that much to get into the dress, it’s not your dress.  Out.

  • alyce1213

OUT.  The dress simply does not fit her, and I don’t like it much in any case.
The shoes are stupid with it.  We will now see the gratuitous “pop of color” abused and misused everywhere.  Ugh.

Not loving this dress on her… on her the bodice looks like pac-man OUT (but I do love those bracelets… )

  • Gabriella Soza

With Tom on the boobs thing. But she looks good. But not the way it’s supposed to look. Damn! Out!

  • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

OUT. It’s hard to look chic when your dress is shouting, “Look at my TITS!” Great earrings, though, really accentuate her eyes.

  • anasmomma

No likely the belt buckle…and no, this is out!

  • quiltrx

I like it, but my real leaning is toward “Out”…but not why you think.  It’s because of the Stepford Wife facial expressions.

And as a huge fan of EAP and Mr. Cusack, I am practically pooping my pants in anticipation of the movie this weekend!

  • http://twitter.com/vintagegoddess just julie

I wonder if she shifted the shoulder thing or if the shoulder thing only looks good for the first 5 min and then begins to ride up your neck and has to be constantly messed with every time one moves their arm? It looks annoying…

  • DCSheehan

    In. Va-voom.

  • Judy_S

Points for attitude and she looks pretty good, so IN, but agree it is not a werq. It’s a compromise between her body and the dress in the service of a higher cause.

  • bellafigura1

She is too big for this dress.

  • Elizabeth Silverstein

I’m team Tom on this one.

  • dya2637

The dress is actually from the Fifty Shades of Grey Collection, the strap can later be use to tie her up.

  • JenXer

I’m with Tom on this one

  • Louise Bryan

The way she pushed that top piece up, it looks like it is strangling her.  And I hate blue fingernails; they make me think of dead bodies.

    Out.

    • http://twitter.com/carelessriver Cassie L

       Homage, possibly, to Eve pere?

  • Mary Pressler

See I think she looks better than the model because the belt isn’t as noticeable on her and because the model’s shoes are ugly.  The fit is a little off, but since when is boobtacular a bad thing?  IN

  • Pennymac

Did she have shoulder surgery? Cause that top thing reminded me of a deltoid bandage, just sayin…

  • mom2ab

Put your boobs back in the dress, add back the sparkly belt buckle, get rid of the ugly blue shoes and the gross blue nail polish; keep the lovely hair and makeup and then you have an in.  And I would love to see this dress (boobs in) on Christina Hendricks.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

    In!

  • Sophie Collier

IN, although the dress is riding a bit low on the jubblies, as you mentioned.

  • TheLaurenJean

I agree with Tom, that it looks better on the model, but I think the shoes are great. So, IN, but not work.

  • LilyPad

In, but the puckering around the top of the bodice is distracting and I agree that a different shoe, or maybe just a different color, would have been a better choice.

  • Judy_J

I’m with Tom. This dress looks amazing on the model, not so amazing on Ms Eve. Still IN, but just barely.

In because her accessories are fantastic and she looks surprisingly good in a dress I should hate. But when I first skimmed this site I thought she was Nicole Kidman. Heh.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Christopher-Lally/1813707728 Christopher Lally

The dress looks like it is choking her. It might not be her dress. Finger nails look blah. The shoes are cute. In but just barely.

  • snarkykitten

her boobs are trying to escape. ouuuuut

  • SatelliteAlice

Out.  It is a great dress and she is lovely but together they look kind of cheap and I don’t think that should be the goal.

  • pookiesmom

    So very in!

  • http://twitter.com/somuchhotter Ethan Barclay-Ennew

IN! However, Miss Alice no matter how fantastic your breasts are, they are not the focus of this dress!

  • Jecca2244

     the nail polish..not loving it.

  • http://twitter.com/rachelruthlee Rachel Lee

OUT! Those shoes are awful, and the rest of the accessories (while spectacular) match too much. It’s really like barbie. And I liked the dress when I first saw it, but after seeing the model photo, I hate how she shoved up the sash for more boob exposure.

  • boweryboy

    IN.

She looks like a bitchtastic Solo in the Spotlight Barbie.

I hate the weird puckering around the bustline but that’s a minor quibble.

  • Sara Leigh Merrey

As someone with boobs, I would never wear this dress. It’s guaranteed to put too much emphasis on the boobs and look awkward. I don’t like the way the bodice looks anyway, kind of puckery. Blech.

  • saanrio

I agree that the way she is wearing this is bringing unneeded attention to her boobs.  However, in spite of that, I’ll vote it IN.  Hair, makeup, accessories, all working, but just not WERQ-ing.

  • Samantha Irene

IN for me. The shoes are distracting, something more delicate would have made for a better balance – visually – and probably could have been executed in blue as well.

  • http://twitter.com/carelessriver Cassie L

So torn! I look at her and she is giving, no lie, her father’s face. And he was my first crush ever (I think Alice would’ve been a toddler at the time…). Alas, it’s really not a kind dress to women with breasts. It has to be an OUT, because that is not her dress (or her dad’s) (god she has CLEAVAGE now?!) but I feel the failure kind of lies with Donna Karan, too, in that this dress seems to have been designed with exactly one silhouette in mind. It’s art, sure, but who’s going to wear it off the runway?

  • Cautia

Well, normally I’d wave her in, but since the real question seems to be whether she’s a ‘werq’ or not, and I think not, I’m gonna have to say OUT.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

In.  I would die to look like that.  Blue fingernail polish and all.  I wish she had not worn !!!! BLUE !!!! as her accessory color.  But still, I love that dress and for them most part, her in it.

  • formerlyAnon

In. Yes, the shoes draw the eye too much. But one can’t call ‘out’ for that.

Boobtaculocity is excluded as a criterium for an out – because this is Sophia Loren boobiness. This is taking a lovely woman and putting her in a lovely dress, and making sure that the dress is arranged just so and sized just a bit too small, so that she ends up  looking like a soft, comfy, pillowy woman (with remarkable breasts) either on her way to, or just getting up from, a bed in which she was not alone.

  • Thathoodwink

The shoes were the first thing I noticed. She looks wonderful, but the shoes are wrong. Too light, the wrong color.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/M2D277JWFM4BUI7PWTTGYM67XI Mathilde

Love the accessories (bring the blue of her eyes perfectly), except maybe the shoes who could have been tone down. However, the bobs were truly better on the model. But because I was more interested by the accessories first, it’s a small IN.

  • crash1212

You know, I was going to give this a qualified IN, but the more I look at it, the more I don’t like it. Firstly, what the hell did she do with the neck wrap thingy? It looks like she’s trying to strangle herself – it looked way cute on the model and this blonde chick crapped it up. Secondly, she should have kept the belt the model has on. That contrasting buckle really creates a nice break in the blackness of it all. I like blonde chick’s accessories, but like the shoe style on the model MUCH better. So…OUT. Stop messing up cute dresses!

  • TSkot

It’s way more chic on the model, but Alice looks great nevertheless.  IN

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Claudia-Gilbert/875055316 Claudia Gilbert

I echo every single one of Tom’s sentiments.  My first thoughts scrolling through the pics were, “Her boobs look too big for that dress”.  My second thoughts?  ”The model’s shoes are cooler…actually, I don’t like Alice’s shoes very much at all for this look”.

  • RzYoung

J’adore the dress, J’hate the shoes. Such a shame, the shoes are awesome anywhere else but not there. She looks incredible though. Bet she felt like a million dollars

  • tvmovielover

Out-her girls look tortured not attractive.  Also she looks short in the dress making me wonder if a little less boob and a little more leg would have made her look even better.  I think it is the long line and less distracting pop of the belt that make the model look better.  I love blue and the jewelry (nails are the wrong blue) but as said, the shoes though great are not great with this dress.  The model’s belt is part of what makes this a great dress so I wonder if the original belt also made her look short.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

She looks great.  Not totally feeling the shoes, but she’s IN.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

In. Even with the ridiculous shoes.

  • jjfg

I guess I’d give her an in, even though it looks like she’s going west and her boobs are going east.  And I think the hem is too long.

  • MoHub

It looks as if the dress is attacking her. The bodice is trying to squeeze her boobs out like toothpaste out of the tube, and the neckpiece seems to be trying to strangle her. In fact, it’s to the point where I’d prefer to focus on the shoes as they look a if they’re trying to divorce themselves from the rest of the look.

    So much potential gone wrong.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

    OUT! Tom is right.

  • http://twitter.com/ohmybears48 Michelle Argento

This is 100% a werq for me.

  • NatalieD28

    OUT.

I just can’t with all the fabric shoved to one side. Also, the belt on her looks rather cheap compared to the runway version.

  • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

In – she looks great – esp with the pops of blue

  • mochajava13

Out.  It needs the sparkly belt and a couple inches off the hem.  She’s too short for the hemline the model is wearing.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

    In!!!

  • Laylalola

I’m confused — it’s a classic demure dress with styling and nails by a 10-year-old girl.

  • Patricia Gillett

IN, I prefer the model’s belt and wished she had a different nail color but those are quibbles. She looks good. Not a WERQ but good.

  • MissAnnieRN

IN 1000% IN!  Love it, full stop.  This is a WERQ for me.  btw, who the hell is Alice Eve?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=768540908 Badriya Al-Badi’a

Out, because of the neckline adjustment–it looks too harsh.  Which would be okay if the rest of her look stepped it up in a dominatrixy kind of way, but it doesn’t.  Also I liked the original belt with its large buckle, breaking up the length of the dress a bit.

  • http://profiles.google.com/dchockeyguy Trevor Burroughs

OUT. a) It’s too boobtastic and b) the belt needs to be the original belt, not the one that totally vanishes into the dress.

  • belfebe

My quibble is the shoes.  They just don’t go.  Other than that, WERQ it girl!

  • vintagion

The belt buckle with the accessories chosen cheapens the look for me. OUT.

  • MoreShoes

OUT. It looks great on the model, she kinda ruined it. Where is the split? The shoes are distracting. I prefer the model’s belt.

  • bailey debruynkops

    TOO MUCH BEWBZ. out

  • Angela Worster

I think she looks great as well, over-boobage and all, but I am concerned with your shoe quibble–if this had been another LBD, you would’ve wanted a pop of color for the shoe, but for this one, it’s distracting?  Is that because of the shoulder detail and boob-slit?  I think the earrings, beading on the clutch, and the cuff bring it all in with the shoes–plus, we know you both love a black and gold combo, so…be ok with the blue pop!

  • luciaphile

It doesn’t look properly fitted and I hate the blue shoes (well not the shoes, just the color).

  • Lina_bee

OUT. This doesn’t suit her frame at all and the shoes don’t work.

  • Sunshine16

In, but I agree she hurt the loveliness of the dress by rearranging for boob focus.  Too bad.

  • Cathy S

I don’t like the dress on her at all. I like the accessories (except the shoes) and her hair’s nice, but I can’t get behind the dress. I’ll have to giver it an Out.

  • Cathy S

I don’t like the dress on her at all. I like the accessories (except the shoes) and her hair’s nice, but I can’t get behind the dress. I’ll have to giver it an Out.

  • amber_julene

Well, it IS for a Poe-inspired film, right?  So if ever there was an appropriate time to wear a garment such that it looked like it was strangling you, this would be it.  I’m ok with it.  In.

  • http://twitter.com/NJPaganelli NJPaganelli

It almost looks like she has a shoulder injury and had to bandage it. I’m all for different ways to show off boobs, but they look uncomfortable too. OUT

  • KittenKisses

I glanced at the thumbnail and got my hopes up that it might look like a pic of Elizabeth Taylor I saw a few months ago. Oh, how I fell into crushing disappointment.

    Daddys, my vote is OUT!

For the poor fit of the dress, cheap attempt at attention by hoisting the girls up, clunky jewellery, ugly shoes with a matchy-matchy pedi and a manicure so bad it looks like a two year old painted her nails.

  • Daenyx

    IN.  She looks fabulous.

The boob display isn’t the sort that’s “HEY, HERE ARE MY BOOBS” – it’s more likely a “well, hmm.  This doesn’t fit on my quite the same way, but it certainly doesn’t look *bad*; may as well.”
Or at least, that would be my internal dialogue if I tried to wear that dress.  ”Assets” are NOT an asset when one is attempting to wear fashion-y clothes, and sometimes you have to settle for not-QUITE-tacky.

  • Renaissance_Man_ATL

IN!  Serving up fabulousness!!!  I don’t mind the way she rearranged the top.  It works.

  • JaneDC

She’s got gorgeous blue eyes and the earrings bring them out. The shoes do not. Why is she wearing them?

  • KathKo

In, but it looks better on the model.
On Alice Eve, it looks kind of cheap.

  • Laura Valentine

    out!

look, I sympathize with the boob problem.  I have a boob problem (or rather, a clothes problem: my boobs are JUST FINE, thanks.  The size of Canada, but fine). but GIRLFRIEND, either look into double-sized dress tape, or admit that’s not your dress, if it’s going to strangle you/bunch up because of the boobs.  (Personally, I would have tried the tape with this one — it’s a great dress.)

  • Judih1

The dress is fabulous on the model. And OUT on her for both the fit and stylilng choices. The shoes don’t work and I like the belt on the model. Hair looks good but not right for this loo

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

    much better on the model.

  • http://southernsugar.wordpress.com/ SouthernSugar

Out.  She looks like she’s being strangled the way the dress is pushed up around her neck.

  • frankystein123

The model on the runway WERQed the shit out of that dress, but Ms. Eve is letting too much hair hanging out.
