Emily Blunt in Jason Wu

Posted on April 19, 2012

You’re going to scroll down, and if you’re a good minion, you will know exactly what we’re going to say next. Are you ready to be tested?

Emily Blunt attends the premiere of “The Five Year Engagement” in NYC in Jason Wu. Jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, shoes by Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet, and clutch by Valentino.

Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2012 Collection

What? What are we going to say? Go on, tell us.

Mary, Mother of Pearl, those SHOES.

We can go with the matchy green earrings, but come ON, Miss Blunt. Those shoes make you look like a car show model in 1965. And it’s a shame, because those are some spectacular shoes.

It’s also a spectacular dress. And the hair and makeup look pretty great (although we’re not entirely convinced on the lip color). Also, that’s a gorgeous belt and it works really well with the dress, which is also gorgeous – and perfect for her.

And therein lies our problem. We love this look, from head to … ankle. In fact, we were thisclose to shouting out “WERQ it, gurl!” until we saw those facacta shoes. And the worse part is, they don’t even match that well. Because there’s only two colors to this entire look, it stands out when one of the colors is slightly off. Honestly? If there was just a bit more of a yellow undertone in those shoes we’d probably not have a problem with them at all.

And here is where you’re all going to tell us to get the hell out over it. Well, we can’t. We all have our little OCD tics and this is ours.

But dammit, she really does look pretty amazing here.

    • Maluca

I love it all, except the shoes. Such a shame!

    • MissAnnieRN

Yup.  She should have just gone with sparkly strappy black shoes.  Though I’m not on board with the pink lip.

All of that being said I LOVE THIS DRESS AND I WANT IT.  I will wear it to every wedding from now til I can no longer get away with it due to age.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

The earrings are gorgeous, and I think her hair and makeup are flawless.  You’re dead on in your assessment of the shoes, in my opinion.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Gah!  I love the shoes, but not with the dress.  The lips are too pink.  But damn this woman is gorgeous.

    • Judy_J

I knew it was the shoes!  They take that gorgeous dress into bridesmaid territory.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=558631967 Ivona Foster

Test passed! *gives herself a gold star*

The color on those is just so off, and it’s a shame because the dress is killer

    • RzYoung

You’re not too OCD at all, first thing I noticed was that they’re not even the same matchy green, if you’re going matchy, go matchymatchy, not almostmatchy

      • VeryClaire

Exactly. I bet a pale green shoe (in the right tone) would have looked great.

      • Chantelle James

Exactly so. There are a kabillion shades of green and if they don’t match it looks terrible… like it does here. A black shoe of some kind would have been a huge improvement.

        • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

I agree. I’d rather see black sandals and a green purse. But that green had better match.

    • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

      I want those earrings!

    • petalfrog

I do love the dress but it looks like she has a marijuana field on the chest.

      • MK03

That was my first impression too.

        • NC_Meg

          Same here.

          • Natalie Khuen

It’s funny because her last name is Blunt…

            • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

HAHAHAHA  you are so wrong for that!

            • TieDye64

Ah, the bitter kittens are THE BEST. Period.

            • NC_Meg

I didn’t even think of that! Hilarious.

            • Sara LaBatt

Totally my first thought too.  Then the shoes.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NMLK23QK6C7NMLMVVYA5POXKJY WhiteMage

until i saw the shoes, i thought the t lo criticism would be “why isn’t she wearing this to the premiere of weeds”?

        • lonepear

Or the most glamorous cover shoot High Times has ever done.

      • Jennifer Bartell

        I immediately thought… 420 dress!

    • colleenjanel

Is the bodice supposed to stand away from the chest like that? It looks like she could pack lunch in there, especially in the last picture.

That lip color needs to go away.

      • kimmeister

The fit on the bust is troubling indeed!  I’ll bet her hubby didn’t want any men standing right behind her for the free show.

      • Whimsique

First thing I saw, too. Or second, after the shoes. What’s up with that thing? It looks like the turf dress that got Andre booted from PR.

      • http://profiles.google.com/ameliaheartsu Amelia Logan

        i don’t think so

    • http://twitter.com/thelilerin erin l.

I get it. I knew it. But I can’t help it, I think this whole thing is a keeper. My love of green surpasses a slight mismatch in hue and overmatch in accessories. She looks PHENOMENAL.

    • http://twitter.com/patreesho patreesho

I knew it! It was those not-so-matchy shoes! I’m a good kitten! And your Revenge post, fabulous! I love me some wigged-crusader!

    • Judy_S

I will permit her to wear those shoes as a special concession. She looks SO wonderful.

    • juliamargaret

Thank you for introducing me to the proper use of /facacta/. :-)

      • DonnaL

A good use of it, but I don’t think it’s spelled that way.  It’s Yiddish, and it’s verkakte.

        • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

According to the YIVO romanization system used by scholars, it is written ‘farkakte.’

    • http://twitter.com/amywatts Amy Watts

Either needed to match exactly (but, truthfully, that would have felt a prom-y) or not at all. I would’ve maybe liked a silver shoe?

    • schadenfreudelicious

such a shame, if we remove the offending footwear she is utter perfection…

    • http://twitter.com/TheRealSandraOh Sandra Oh

This should have been a WERQ because she’s working da shit out of the outfit, shoes included.

    • Little_Olive

This minion aced the test! Totally agree with teachers TLo’s assessment.

    • Scarlet39

I winced when I saw the shoes.  That either means they are really horrible with this dress or I’m starting to take celeb fashion choices way too seriously!

    • Jessica O’Connell

Hate the lip color but I don’t mind the shoes all that much, though the green is slightly off. She still looks incredible in my opinion though. LOVE the dress and wish I could afford it!

    • Patricia Gillett

Hate the belt, shoes, and lipstick. Great dress ruined by styling. Jason should take her off his free dress list.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZFKRECRF5BOBWB4RXAJGI4D6KA mmc

Agreed.  I do like the shoes on the model.

      • Valdri8

I do not like the belt either! I almost think the dress is a bit too bit and that was their “fix”

    • HomeOfficeGirl

It’s a WERQ for sure!!  The only thing bugging me is the obnoxious background image.  The green shoes look like a better color fit in the last image, so I am totally willing to give the benefit of the doubt becuase the dress is gorgeous and she looks flawless!!

Also – she definitely made the right call by adding a belt.

    • RebeccaKW

Man, I love the shoes.  Worn with something else.  I love this dress and that she belted it.  I actually like the lipstick, I just don’t think it was right for this.  The earrings are great.  I want to say out, but really, overall, I kind of like it.

      Also, I see marijuana leaves.

    • SapphoPoet

      So.Close.

Such a shame about those shoes because she looks gorgeous otherwise.

    • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

I don’t mind that she’s going for a matching-color shoe except that I think these particular shoes are ugly. Even then, the shoes only get a half-point off from me. Otherwise a fantastic look all around.

    • kikisayshi

Gorgeous! I do have to agree – the same shoe in black would make it magnifique.

    • nannypoo

You are so right about the shoes. Terrible choice. Everything else is great.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/W7A5N4G7FDTV5U2KOHBVSB55XI Basket

Girlfriend looks GREAT!  Shoes and all.

    • Lochery

See, I think the lipstick color works great, but it is too bad about those shoes. Although I’m wondering what color she should’ve gone with, because I’m not thrilled about the pair the model’s wearing either. A little bit more teal, maybe?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

Prefer the dress without the belt which breaks up that beautiful flower motif.

    • BayTampaBay

This is proof that the wrong shoes (no matter how great on their own) can totally ruin an outfit!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

She looks so pretty I almost don’t care about the shoes. Almost.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344314000 Anne Meek White

I just look at her picture with the feet cut off on the screen. All better!

    • BazoDee

Total WERQ if it wasn’t for the shoes. Not sold on the belt either – I think I like it -but I’m not 100% sure. Everything else looks amazing. Some contrast accessories would have been awesome with this – or maybe just plain old black.

      PS -I passed!!

    • quiltrx

I have to say it…the dress is so pretty, but the more I look at it…POT DRESS!!!

And the shoes make my eye twitch too.  If you’re going to match, they need to MATCH.  This just looks “off,” like she picked the shoes without the dress with her.  A completely different color or black would have been my shoe choice.

      • http://twitter.com/TheUppityMinx V.R. Neuman

My first thought, too!  It’s gorgeous, but she definitely looks like she’s wearing marijuana.

      • understateddiva

         She’s celebrating 4/20 a day early!

    • Claire Briggs

Agg, fire her stylist. Her stylist is colorblind! That is like matching bright reds with magentas. It just slightly off, just the right amount of insanity to tick off any Color OCD. Twitch! Twitch!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IGAP35BYZNYQQY64Z6SNSETIOQ Thomas J

I am really starting to get worried.  I actually knew the answer.

    • http://aliesunny.tumblr.com aliesunny

      I LOVE that lip color!

    • dramamajor

If you gave Katy Perry in a Smurfette dress a WERQ as well as Leelee Sobieski in a Little Nurse on the Prairie shmata Nun habit, I think this little number deserves one too.

      • Annabelle Archer

        here! here!

        • http://6things.blogspot.com par3182

Speaking of OCD tics – Hear, hear!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Austen-Jane/100002245814326 Austen Jane

That was an easy one!! She would look better bare foot.

I also get uncomfortable for women when I see their strapless bust pulling so far way from their bodies. But still, love 95% of this, including the lip color. That is one gorgeous gal.

    • CPK1

No to the shoes!!! (I mean they are kick -ass but not here). But she looks spectacular otherwise.

    • CQAussie

Agree – lovely from head to ankle.  The shoes on their own are gorgeous but it’s pulling focus way too much for me when paired with this dress.

    • sweetlilvoice

I knew it would be the shoes and I have to agree-too matchy. She does look good though.

    • PaperPusher2

I don’t mind the shoes, but I think the belt ruins it all.  It interrupts the design that is supposed to be the main attraction and cuts her in half in a very unhelpful, unflattering way.  It’s like a Shelly belt.  Because of that, you then notice the shoes which IMO aren’t that bad, but made worse by the distraction on her tummy.
I thought you guys were going to ask why is she wearing marijuana on her chest region.

    • lilibetp

Yeah, I agree.  The shoes are just off enough to look awful.  They could be a completely different color and would look better  This is just a mis-match.

    • librarygrrl64

“Because there’s only two colors to this entire look, it stands out when one of the colors is slightly off.” I couldn’t agree more. What a shame, because otherwise she looks STUNNING. I like the lip color, too.

    • piecesofconfetti

Agree – the shoes were a bad choice. Especially because the shades of green are off! I love the earrings, the belt, the dress, and overall I think she looks fantastically pretty here. Too bad the shoes distract from the otherwise perfection.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AntoniaDonnelly Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

She looks better than the model and the belt makes this dress look so much better.  Shoes with this dress are out and so are the lips.

    • http://twitter.com/starrika Ali

Not gonna lie, I love the shoes. I’ll just sit over here in my matchy Barbie corner, thanks.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/J2VE4NE2FY2BP4QD2XOYKJGLPI Laura

Heh, yes, I’m a properly trained minion. I knew you’d hate the shoes. I guess I do too, but I have to say, she looks fab. I LOVE the hair and make-up and earrings. She looks stunning.

    • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

I’m just going to go on record as saying that I REALLY dislike it when the bodice stands away from the chest like it does on this dress.  It distracts me and makes me think of when I was a kid and I’d play dress-up in Mom and Aunt Jan’s prom dresses from the 1950′s and put on fashion shows around the pool at Grandma’s house.  ANYWAY…I do love the dress (the one quibble aside), despise the shoes (but only with this dress) and her lip color is a bit off.

    • filmcricket

This Dress Brought to You by High Times Magazine…

I knew it would be the shoes, although they don’t bother me that much. (Maybe she should have tried to match them to the slightly teal-ier emerald earrings?) The belt bothers me more – I agree that the waist needs nipping, but I don’t like the way it bisects the pattern. Also, the bust doesn’t fit. Hair and make-up are killer. I haven’t drunk the Emily Blunt Kool-Aid, but she looks pretty amazing here overall.

      • PaulaBerman

Re: High Times– I thought the exact same thing! Glad someone else’s mind went there too. The color green is very evocative, which is why it’s unfortunate that the shoes echo it so closely. However, I like the look overall and would give it an IN if this were an  In or Out post.

    • alyce1213

I don’t like matchy-matchy, but really, this is fine, the shoes are pretty; your criticism is nit-picky for such a pretty dress on such a divine woman.
By the way, that’s how a woman over 21 should wear a flare dress!! (ref. Krysten Ritter the other day).

    • http://flippy-doodle.blogspot.com Flippy Doodle

It’s one of those rare times when the dress looks a billion times better than it does on the model. She looks amazing! But yes, the shoes. Even black shoes would have worked better than these

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Sigh.  It’s always the shoes, isn’t it?  I love them.  Maybe not with this dress, but it’s because of the style, not the color.  Still, she looks amazing wearing a beautiful dress, so I say IN.

    • http://twitter.com/hmbscully WendyD

I’m with TLo here. Those shoes either had to EXACTLY match the green in the dress or they HAVE TO GO! It looks SO OFF.

    • TheOriginalLulu

Guys, you’re nuts. She looks fierce as hell. This is a WERQ for me.

Although, I’m not too sure about that hair. It reminds me of my Aunt Inez. She has somewhat curly hair and I remember back in the 70s when long, pin-staight hair was the thing and she used to wrap her hair around her head really good, fastening it with bobby pins all around and then she would take a pair of panty hose with the legs cut and tied off and fit that over her head and just wear that all day and night before a party. She looked so funny with that stocking on her head, but it did make her hair straight.

    • nancylee61

I also don’t love the helmet head. Her hair is too tight across her forehead. Looks painful.

    • Terence Ng

Oh good. I noticed the shoes, too. I’m learning good stuff. Still, I’d give her a pass. She looks so good otherwise.

    • mjude

i see your point boys.  but she does look great otherwise.

    • NurseEllen

You don’t have to get over it at all.  If we were all linked by audio, you guys would have probably heard a groan over your computer monitors every time one of the BKs scrolled down & got to THOSE SHOES.  Is her stylist color blind???  Good God.

The dress is super. Alice & Olivia has been doing great things lately!

    • Pants_are_a_must

I have the PERFECT shoes for this dress. Ergo she should give it to me.

    • Pants_are_a_must

I have the PERFECT shoes for this dress. Ergo she should give it to me.

    • Anathema_Device

You’re entitled to your tics. We rely on them, in fact.

Having said that, I don’t mind the shoes at all. The car-model vibe is actually kind of fun, in a retro way. I’m kind of digging the bright-pump trend.

I think she looks gorgeous, full stop.

I don’t care much about matchy-matchy, but the greens are clashing. I love the dress but the fit on the bodice is off.

I don’t care much about matchy-matchy, but the greens are clashing. I love the dress but the fit on the bodice is off.

    • Cheri Lee

I am sooooo with you! Matchy matchy is one thing, but those shoes DO NOT MATCH and it’s killing me!

    • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

I like the lip colour. Pink and green together are nice. The shoes did make me wince a bit when I first saw them, but I think I can handle it. Everything else is just perfect.

    • tonibaloney

The face in the background of the first pic looks so weird. Watch out, Emily! It’s going to eat you!

    • http://dentsdelait.tumblr.com/ Nancy Marion

Yup, shoes. If you’re going to go matchy-matchy, you need to commit to the correct tones.

Also, that leaf pattern screams WEED, MAAAAAAAAN! to me. No Bob Marley posters for the step and repeat?

    • http://twitter.com/ohmybears48 Michelle Argento

To christmas-y. Needs to be worn in winter, never spring.

    • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

Love, love, love this. While you are right about the shoes, I still think she looks fab!

    • Spicytomato1

I get an automatic fail on the test, because although I knew the question was going to be about the shoes, I couldn’t choose between a) love or b) hate. So I left the answer blank.

I like the idea of two greens, sort of matchy but not exactly, but agree that this isn’t quite right.

And holy cow, is she channeling Rooney Mara with her hair and makeup or what? She reminds me so much of Rooney in her GWTDT parade, and I’ve never seen any resemblance between the two before.

    • guest2visits

She looks absolutely stunning; like you said,- from the ankles up. It would have been great if she had the model’s shoes.
This is a very good look on her; I love the hair and make-up styling.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=610791985 Aniela Marie Perry

I totally agree and I love this dress even if, from some angles, it looks like it’s covered in weed.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

      THE SHOES!
      Got it!
She looks great except for THE SHOES!
And thank goodness she doesn’t have that bunch of stuff on her head like the runway model.

    • Eva_baby

Sigh.  Yes.  The shoes.  But I have such an amazing girl crush on her that I don’t care.  She looks ravishing…from the ankles up.

    • marilyn

She looks great, and the shoes are not a dealbreaker.  However, the belt is.

Bear in mind that there is a retro 60′s look that has been going through fashion. Probably from Mad Men, Pan Am, etc. The matchy match shoes are fallout from that . They are not nearly as bad as the belt that breaks up the beautiful green bodice.

    • Beardslee

You are so right about the shoes being the wrong shade of green.  Double whammy.

    • Amy Fee Garner

You’re completely right.  The shoes are like a visual needle-scratch.  Black sandals would have been a full 10 points for the look.

    • Sara Leigh Merrey

      HATE the shoes!

    • Kayceed

So close. Soooo close. And yet… why does the bodice stand away from her chest? Why did she not just go with a classic black pump? Wouldn’t it be fun if the fabric was made from hemp? So many questions…

    • granddelusion

That’s a gorgeous dress, and she looks fabulous. Of course i agree about the shoes. Why is the bust gapping away from her chest like that? Is it for easy access?

    • jw_ny

Agreed…so close.  Those shoes and that lip color!  Gosh, how they detract from what otherwise is near perfection.  That dress is beautiful, great fit and length, and the belt is perfect/inspired…so much nicer than how it fits/hangs on the model.

    • Isana Leshchinskaya

OCD is a treatable ailment. There was a vh1 show on it. It’s all about exposure therapy. So what you, my favorite bloggers who I want to hang out with at fancy parties drinking dirty martinis, should do is look at as many matchy (but slightly off in color) outfits as you possibly can. She looks great, and while lesser outfits were given WERQs despite atrocious hair or funky shoes, a slightly mismatched  she robs her of any title? She is very IN. Even with eye-twitchy shoes. And that lip color looks great against her (and my) complexion.

    • hearkentoit

I was scrolling down all “Oh no, I’m failing the test! I don’t know what they’re going to say! Maybe I’m not as loyal a minion as I thought I—oh, those SHOES.”

    • carolynmo

Does the belt work well with the dress? Far be it for me to question my fashion professors, but with such beautiful detailing at the waist, why does she need a belt?

Yeah, the shoes are bad with this.

    • Kate4queen

wow, I knew just what you were going to say about the shoes! I officially feel like a bitter kitten minion now :)

    • Whimsique

I passed! I knew it was the shoes! But then in looking at the outfit again, I was like WTF! A pass to the fact that the bodice is pulling away from her chest like she’s trying to catch rainwater?

I can live with the shoes. The petrified bodice, I cannot.

    • oatmealpie

Am I the only one getting a Cheech & Chong vibe?

    • KaileeM

We are lip color enemies, TLo. Every time I think to myself, “Damn, that’s an awesome color!” you say you hate it. At least we still agree on matchy-matchy shoes and daytime hair worn with evening gowns.

      • j_anson

I don’t think it’s a bad color, I’m just not convinced it goes with that green.

    • oohsparkley!

I agree wrong shoes. The color is off.  But she still looks fabulous.  I’d still give her an 8 out of 10.  Maybe the lighting was bad.  Sometimes I get to work and just have to say “this went a lot better at home this a.m.”  At that point, you just have to go with it.

    • j_anson

Is it just me or has Emily Blunt been looking oddly Dita von Teese-like lately? Not that that’s a bad thing, just… unexpected.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aboutelle Ashleigh Boutelle

looks like pot leaves. I’m sorry, but it does.

    • EEKstl

I’m so proud of myself for being such a good Unborn Fawn Bitter Kitten Minion that I knew EXACTLY what you were going to say, plusses and (BIG) minus.  EB in a simple, slim black skirt and those shoes, divine.  Those shoes, so obviously a different shade of green, with that dress?  Not even up for discussion.  What a WERQ this could have been…sigh…

    • Beth G

I’m going to pretend that she had a pair of shoes and her big dog got a hold of them and tore one up and so she called her people and someone looked in a closet which DIDN’T have a light and thought those would match and when they met up with her it was too late to change…..

    • poggi

I was so sad when I saw your opening remarks because I knew that somewhere on her lower half she screwed it up.  And she did.

    • http://twitter.com/chylde bellalozza

Damn you! I love those emerald shoes!

    • BrightsideSusan

I think the belt cuts into the design and it wasn’t needed.

    • margaret meyers

Her hem length is much better than the models.  You guys can’t cut slack? She looks so good — why do they have to be 100% toplease us.  90% is pretty fab, too.

    • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea a Studio by the Sea

I’m not understanding the love, for the whole effect is too uptight or poorly fitted or matched – the greens are all off by just a shade  so that they clash, not match, the bust two to three inches from her body, and the make-up is aging.  If this isn’t an out, it’s an eh.

    • allisankelly

Agree with it all. Yes, I am a good little Minion.

    • newtonGOTbeaned

I think her hair looks kinds weird, too. But the dress is awesome.

    • LuisaNL

yeah, I don’t like the shoes but damn, she looks amazing. The make up and hair are perfection and the dress is amazing. Snaps up, Miz Blunt!

    • butter nut

from the side it’s not so bad.  but from the front, it’s troll feet.  waste of a good dress.

    • Presumptuous Insect

OMG!  I don’t believe it!!  I must be learning something here because I predicted the shoes comment. Oh, I am beaming with pride.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

i’ve been virtually here a long time, i rang every bell.
ach, good for me. the only thing i disagree w/ is the belt. it disrupts the design, makes it lose its fluidity. & i dont mind the lipstick color that much–it picks up the blue undertone in the dress & the earrings in a way i think a truer red would not. thoroughly agree on the shoes. it’s that jarring vs harmonious color business again. is it possible that at this moment in time irritatingly misjudged color is an actual thing?

    • elizonthelam

I like matchy shoes. I like coordinated shoes. But these are clashy shoes! Either match exactly, or find a color that coordinates. Either be a yellower or somehow distinctly different than the green in the dress or find shoes a that are that cool green of the dress. Waffling should should not be tolerated!

    • MilaXX

Darnit, she was thisclose to a WERQ. Those shoes though…….

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Love the dress-that bodice is just gorgeous, and Emily works it well.  I’ll forgive the shoes. This time.

    • annrr

A+ for this minion. At first I thought ” that dress makes me want to smoke a bowl” but the when I scrolled down further, its  the matchy shoes. I would love those shoes with something else tho. And I love the dress, much improved with the addition of the belt, but it is a little off season, fells too wintery
      .

    • CassandraMortmain

I don’t mind matchy-matchy in the right circumstances but the tone is off on these shoes.  They clash.  Still, they’re pretty killer and I’d love to see them paired with something else.

The dress is beautiful but I think the belt ruins the line.  And I hate, hate, hate the hair.  Lot of potential here but sadly, no.

    • Allison Woods

I love the shoes, and I love the dress, but not together. The dress has a little vintagey bit to it that makes the looks costumey to me with the shoes.

I wish she’d had someone chasing her around with a steamer to deal with the wrinkles in the skirt of the dress.

The lip color’s not quite right for her coloring.

    • http://twitter.com/yessveee Sarah Veenstra

That hair & makeup + a black & green color-scheme? I’m sorry, but she looks like an elf. The dress *is*a fabulous piece, but this is among her worst looks for me.

    • rainwood1

Agreed about the almost matchiness of the shoes.  I’m hesitating over the hair.  The way it’s combed and styled makes it look like she’s wearing a ‘do rag.  I’m not sure I’m loving it.

    • TieDye64

Hahaaa! You guys have completely ruined me, as I have caught the matchy-matchy shoe OCD tic. Yes, it’s contagious.

    • terekirkland

Hell, I would have gone hot pink with the shoes. That many greens belong in a salad.

    • Call me Bee

Yes–shoes are an awful color.  I can see going with a pump to emphasize the whole 50s-60s vibe, but greens are funny, and they can clash easily.
      As they do here.
THey even make her legs look thick–never a good look.  Black would have been much better.
That said, I love the dress, hair and earrings.  She looks fab from the ankles up.

    • eight_of_nine

      Emily, honey, 4/20 is TOMORROW.

      • sagecreek

        You win the internet today!

    • sagecreek

They’re the WRONG GREEN. Rookie mistake, Ms. Blunt!

    • formerlyAnon

Naw.[meaning I'm not going to say "get over it."] I don’t mind matchy-matchy, but I saw the color difference in the shoes as I scrolled down. And I thought “That’s the kind of thing I’d do – which is why I’d wear black shoes, probably – but she’s on the RED CARPET and has (or could have) PEOPLE! (& deduct their salary as a business expense, probably.)

But I do love that dress, & the earrings & hair are perfect. Not sure about the lips, to my eye they’re a shade too pink – but makeup is not my best thing.

    • prettybigkitty

The flowers looked like marijuana leaves at first glance. There has to be a blunt joke in there somewhere.

      • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Maybe she and John are making brownies later?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

I like the lip color actually, eeek on those shoes though. I just cant get over how gorgeous her skin in! She’s like a pretty porcelain doll!

    • turtleemily

I’m getting a Christmas vibe from this dress… Holiday work party.

    • BrooklynBomber

WHEW! I hit on all three points.
First I thought, “they’re going to say,”WERQ!”Then I thought, “oh, but the shoes . . .”And then, “Oh, hmmm, the lip color. . .”

    • Lina_bee

      So close.

    • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

      shoulda beena werq

    • Tracy_Flick

Hmmm. I think I may have had that black light poster in college. Hate the mismatched-yet-overly-matchy shoes, the ill-fitting bodice, and the earrings. Love the make-up and the general silhouette.

    • bellafigura1

Holy mackeral, is that how you spell “facacta”??  Knock me over with a featha.

    • Cousin_Rose

Am I spending too much time here if I knew it was going to be the shoes?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BIVHXX542TDIE6ZACYMYNGMPCE Karen

All I see are pot leaves.

    • Susan Crawford

Oh, yes. I knew it was going to be the ever-so-slightly-off matchy shoes. Emily, Emily, Emily – you KNOW how Uncles T and Lo feel about this. And you KNOW the Bitter Kitten Brigade will chime in. So do not repeat this error, and all will be forgiven. And girl – you looked spectacular otherwise. Imma yank those emeralds outta your shell-like little ears, hunee! Zowie!

    • sleepycat

Oh look a dress celebrating the wonders of pot.

    • Lisa Kramp

Agreed, fab from head to ankle. I’d have liked less pink and more red in the lips, too.

    • http://twitter.com/jessicapippin Jessica Pippin

LOVE IT ALL. She looks wonderful. The lip color is really pretty.

    • fiestyfashionfem

Her comb-over hair looks weird too.

    • ziarah

Pretty dress, even though it looks like it’s covered in ganja.

      • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

        LOL!!

    • http://twitter.com/Level4Jessi Jessi Nalley

Okay, seriously.  I’ve been reading this site for years, and I finally have to say something.  This is the third time in about a week that I have seen TLo throw around the term “OCD” like it’s an adjective.  OCD is a SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION.  People SUFFER from it.  They don’t throw hissy fits over the clothing choices of strangers.  They have nervous breakdowns and a life-changing illness that affects them on a daily basis.  Use “persnickety,” “perfectionist,” or even “anal.”  But please don’t make light of something like this.  It makes it so much harder for those of us who HAVE OCD to be taken seriously.

    • http://angryfemur.tumblr.com Andrea Lane

She looks like she’s dressed for 4.20.

    • ccm800

agree on all but one. The belt. I hate it – it ruins the line of that dress.

    • http://profiles.google.com/phyllis.craine Phyllis Craine

      Why why WHY??

    • Cathy S

I agree with the other bitter kittens that she looks fantastic. It’s a great dress; love the belt and the earrings, and yeah, I noticed her matchy shoes were not matchy enough. Black would have been nice. But it’s a quibble.

    • Derek_anny

Nope.  I can live with matching colors.  What I can’t stand is colors that almost match.  They’re obviously trying to match, but fail.

    • Louise Bryan

Ha!  I guessed you would have problems with the shoes and the lip color.  I’m getting good at this!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=606614458 Levin Chin

She should have worn a green lipstick just to mess with TLo … ;-)
