Dianna Agron in Alice + Olivia

Posted on April 10, 2012

Yes, it’s twee and yes, she matched the shoes to it …

Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet Fall 2012 Collection

… but this is too adorable and chic not to get our love. We might even go so far as to say she’s WERQing the shit out of it. Hair and makeup are flawless. Then again, they better be or those bitches on The View will rip you a new one.

Nicely done, D.

Classy and sophisticated, yet still youthful. I love it!

much better than bat shit crazy eyed model!

    • In_Stitches

Bahahaha, I went back and took a look.  She’s going to haunt my dreams…

    • both of the models in that pic terrify me

    • Little_Olive

      Thank you for that!

    • fiestyfashionfem

Was thinking the same thing – she looks freakin’ nuts!

    • JDreesen

yes, but i would have taken the shoes off ol’ Crazy Eyes for this one…or at least the *colour* of the shoes.  hell, she’s already LOOKING at us like we stole something off her, we may as well oblige.

    •  Is it just me or does that crazy model remind anyone of Sarah Brightman (and her constant attempts to look doe-eyed)?

  • mountainFashionista

Yeah, I’d give this a WERQ.

  • RebeccaKW

I love everything about it.  I want it all.

    • lovelyivy

Seriously, looking for that dress right now!

    • Ditto!

  • Adorable!!  I do wish she’d kept the belt, though.

  • G

Perfectly springy and beautiful.  And she’s not showing the goods on national TV.  Brava!

  • introspective

While she went twee, yes, this is so much better than her usual turn to matronly. Love the colors, cut and fit of the dress. Hair and makeup are a win too. Total WERQ in my book. *snaps*

    • colleenjanel

I think it’s a youthful silhouette, but I don’t know that I’d call it twee.

  • ChiliP

She always looks ladylike and classy. I’ll take this over the revealing attire some starlets seem to favor any day of the week.

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

You mean like her co-star Lea Something?

  • Rebecca Johnson

The model wants to EAT YOUR SOUL!

    • librarygrrl64

I wish she’d eat SOMETHING, even if it’s my soul.

  • Adorable

  • holdmewhileimnaked

nice dress, truly, but it needs the belt.

  • Lochery

That model’s face made me giggle. FASHION: SO SERIOUS.

    • She’s making the face Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri used to make on SNL before they started their cheer.

  • Yeah, shame about those shoes. Very cute, great colors on her.

  • TheLaurenJean

  • lesmaha

    I love it–very spring!

  • snarkykitten

is it really such a crime if the shoes match once in a while?

    • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

My red shiny pumps are matching the red vesty-jackety thing I am wearing over my black and white hounds tooth sheath.  AND I have a shiny red bag.  And I actually said “to hell with TLo, this looks GREAT!” on my way out the door this morning  Sometimes you just gotta match!

  • In_Stitches

I wouldn’t know what to pair with that dress.  Maybe gold pumps?  Might be a little jarring.  If I can’t imagine anything better, she gets a pass from me.

  • MilaXX

I think for her this does indeed qualify as a WERQ. She looks good but not geriatric

  • mightbewrong

I have to say, this website makes me paranoid about whether I dress ‘twee’ or not…seems almost anything can fall into that category!

    • It’s all about the styling. But also, your view on whether twee is undesirable! I am pro-twee.

  • Judy_J

Very nice.  I like everything about this, including the coat she wore over the dress.

  • frances rossi

Nicely done, Diana! Such a beauty.

  • colleenjanel

The missing belt doesn’t bother me, because there is such a defined waistline on the dress. But I wish she had gone with the deep red pumps on the model. I like the unexpected, but not distracting color.

The view from the neck up makes me want to hate her (but I can’t). So beautiful and effortless!

  • Louise Bryan

    Very demure.

  • Andrea Berkimer

WHAT? Someone wore something on TV that actually allowed them to sit down without flashing the camera?  Scandal!

  • It’s a great look, right for her age, and the shoes are perfect.  It’s a stupid dictum that says shoes can’t match the dress; what’s important is that the shoes complement the dress and overall look.

  • Sara__B

Two tiny complaints — I would have liked different shoes and a belt — but the picture of her sitting down is so cute, and classy, and chic, and pretty that I’m almost in love.

  • SpcilK

Sophisticated and very chic, she is serving up glamour!

  • bellafigura1

I love the shoe choice on the runway version, but other than that, brava.  I love her style.

  • cyscokitty

How in the world did she match her dress to the tree?

  • crash1212

That dress needs to be in my closet STAT! I would wear it with different shoes, though. I kind of like the color of the shoes on the model. LOVE!

  • Cute.

  • kimmeister

That might be the best I’ve ever seen her hair look.

  • Mad Men’s back, so we’ll probably see this silhouette everywhere again (even though it’s more last season than this). I wouldn’t call this twee. Now if she had a matching flower in her hair and on a matching clutch, *then* it’d be twee (at least, my toddler daughters would then be fans). But the dark navy/back peacoat raises it up a notch, I think.

  • *applauds*

  • TheOriginalLulu

She looks beautiful. Love the whole thing.

  • formerlyAnon

I love that dress. Shoes are fine. Want a better look at her coat, but perhaps it is not cut to button over the dress without crushing its fullness?

    Well done.

  • drdirection

looks way better on her than it does on the psycho-looking model

  • Love it. Would’ve loved it more with the bronze little belt, though.

  • SapphoPoet

    WANT! She looks lovely.

  • enchanted216

I love it, and I think it’s ok for shoes to match sometimes:)

  • librarygrrl64

Adorable! I don’t see this as twee at all. Feminine and a little retro, yes, but not twee, especially not with the graphic nature of the floral. I prefer the way the background looks a little navy and the flowers look a little more gold in the second and fourth shots, though. Not a big fan of royal blue.

  • JuliaInBlack

Very cute.  I love the belt on the model, too, wish she’d kept it.

  • IAmJ

    Wow, twee indeed, but stunning!

  • Well played. She looks great.

  • nannypoo

Super cute. My only complaint is that the sleeveless dropped shoulder feature makes her arms look a little, well, pudgy.

  • guest2visits

Please tell me that’s a mannequin….it has shiny arms…it’s hovering two inches above the floor….right…?
(love all her outfit; shoes, coat, everything).

  • NurseEllen

Are there crinolines under that skirt?  My, my.  Agree about the model’s color shoes, they would have been much better, but these are not so bad.  Disagree about the belt, I think this does fine without it.  Without the coat, the neckline looks a little plain, despite the busy fabric.  Maybe she should have gone all-out retro and worn some pearls around her neck?  Interesting how the studio lights change the color of the dress so appreciably.

  • alyce1213

I saw her on The View this morning and I’m surprised to see how very blue the background of the dress is in daylight.  It appeared midnight blue/black on TV.
Anyway, she looked radiant and adorable.

And those bitches on The View . . . damn, they are annoying.

  • sagecreek

    Oh, definitely a WERQ!

  • Love it. Perfect dress for her. She looks adorable.

  • Truthiness2U

Love the dress, want that dress.

The dress looks great on DA, and I think DA’s make-up and hair look very nice as well. So I say it’s a total WERQ!

And I’m consumed with jellusy over her having that dress, and my unlikely ability to do so, and not to look at good in it, if I were somehow to get it. So well done DA on the look. But darn life for it’s continued unfairness.

  • Spicytomato1

Love. I did a double take at the first shot — the tree branches behind her are having an antler-like effect on her hair!

  • Anathema_Device

Very pretty dress. She looks fabulous in it. It looks oddly stiff in that first photo, like it is made of oil cloth or something.

I like that she has neutral makeup but doesn’t look like a cadaver. So many celebrities get that wrong.

  • PeaceBang

    Total perfection. J’adore.

  • Very pretty. It’s so nice to see such a lady-like dress for a young actress. No gyno-dress! I love it.

  • Kyle Crawford

SHE CAN WALK ?!?  ( loooooove the dress!!! )

  • Allison Woods

  • unbornfawn

    Really cute.

  • ccm800

NICE! I am not a fan of her style but this suits her to a tee and still has a little edge to it in the color combo on that print. I like, and her make up is PERFECT for her and her age and this time of year. Well done.

  • sleah_in_norcal

is there a chartreuse tree growing out of her head?  anyways…

i love this look and don’t find it twee at all.  the rendering of the zinnia flowers has an edgy graphic quality that, along with the unusual color pairing keeps the look fresh and modern.

  • ChristySchiff

    I don’t think it’s twee… I think that dress is fabulous!

  • She looks adorbs in the last picture.

  • Wow, she looks beautiful.

  • This is super cute. And I have to admit it’s been bugging me a lot lately that you guys harp SO much about shoe colors matching outfits.  And this morning I’ve come to the conclusion that it must be a confidence thing – if you have confidence that you can pull it off, then go ahead and use non-matchy shoes. But for most of us, specifically those in the public eye, I think they’d rather come across as “pulled together”, “color confident” and adept at dressing themselves reasonably well, rather than letting people wonder if they dug some pair out from under the bed and slipped into them before running out the door.  It’s probably generational, too. I’m in my mid-50’s.  I like to think I’d be experimenting if I was young and thin and gorgeous, but if my shoes look like they go with my dress, I’m on top of the world. I’m Mary Tyler Moore, I might just make it after all!  I’d rather exude confidence in what I put on rather than look like I’m uncertain if everyone understands what I’m doing with my cooky combo of colors.

  • cteeny21

I’m not sure, but I think The View’s hair and make-up artists do the guests as well and they do an amazing job. I saw this the other day and thought she looked so great! She is someone I would like to see more in movies and I don’t even watch Glee.

  • charlotte

    I want that dress. I’m sure it’s a bargain…not.

  • Agreed. She looks fantastic!

  • I love that dress–and Agron is wearing the hell out of it.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Such a beautiful young woman!  Love that dress!

  • sid123

i don’t get it. i work in ny, pass their store near the park almost every day and look in the windows and say, ” wow, what an ugly window display”, (not to mention ridiculously skinny mannequins), and then the shit works! it looks really freeking good…..ahhhh (shaking head walk down the street…must stop at Lilly’s to cheer myself up)
