Chloe Sevigny in Opening Ceremony

Posted on April 04, 2012

Chloe’s back with another alter, you guys! It’s getting awfully crowded in there. She’s going to need a bigger head soon.

Chloe Sevigny attends the screening of “Damsels in Distress” in NYC in Opening ceremony.

It’s Caress’s twin sister, Carouse! Like Caress, Carouse (real name: Carolyn)  likes to cut her own hair and remake old clothes into new and exciting getups to pair with gigantic shoes, but the similarities end there. Caress’s forte is prom gowns, whereas Carouse gets most of her clothing through her job as a craft store model. Here she demonstrates the March Craft Workshop project: taking an old ice dancing costume and an old girl scout uniform and coming up with a jazzy new frock through the use of glue guns and some judicious notion-bin diving. Someday Carouse would like to be on the cover of a magazine and she pins pages from Craft Store Monthly on her refrigerator to remind her to keep her girlish craft store model figure in case that day should ever come.

She and Caress stopped speaking to each other several years ago for reasons neither of them will reveal.

Her hair looks like Sharon Needles’.

    • out for a walk

      why so cruel to Sharon?

    • sleah_in_norcal

i’m seeing a family resemblance there.  caress, carouse and sharon out of drag.

  • I would love to see a collaboration between you guys and Charles Busch!!!

  • EverybodysStarling

What is wrong with her face? Wasn`t she like… pretty?

    • alyce1213

      Not really.  Just younger maybe.

      • EverybodysStarling

I think it is her teeth. She seems to have new teeth, which look strange and too big for her face. I just googeled older pictures of her, and she looks totally different.

        • cgoodsil

Her teeth DO look different. That’s unfortunate – I thought she was very attractive, not really conventionally pretty, but with a really interesting face. (Which sounds like a backhanded compliment, but it’s totally not.)

          • formerlyAnon

Yup. I feel EXACTLY like that about David Bowie’s new (well, relatively) teeth.

        • TheOriginalLulu

Is that why she keeps doing that thing with her mouth??

        • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Well, Caress got the “good” teeth, and Carouse has a bit of an overbite.  As you see.

        • Glammie

Let’s cut her some slack on the teeth.  Remember she fell down during a runway show and knocked out her two front teeth several years ago.  She may not have had much of a choice about dental changes.

Though I actually think that it’s her skin that’s looking a little rough–too much sun, or cigarettes (she doesn’t seem like a sun-exposure type) and needs to change the hair tint and definitely needs to change up the hair style.  It’s drawing emphasis to her long jaw.  She needs hair that pulls the focus to her eyes.

Oh, I actually find the outfit kind of interesting.  It doesn’t quite work, but I don’t find it a disaster.

          • EverybodysStarling

Oh, I didn`t know that she fell. So that really may be the explanation why she looks so different to me.

  • MilaXX

I can’t with this one today. This is not her dress. Give it to Zoe who will wear with with a loose ponytail and cute pumps.

    • I’m not certain even Zoe could make this dress look good.

      • I think it would be really cute on, I don’t know, Kiernan Shipka?  Somebody else in the 8-14 range? Chloe just looks like a grown woman squeezed into a little girl’s dress.

        • Amy Ellinger

yes, yes!  Kiernan or maybe Elle Fanning?

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

NO one could make that ugly dress look good.

  • alyce1213

I never tire of your Choe Sevigny posts.  Carouse, Craft store model — bwahahaha!
    Keep ’em coming.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I would love an E-book of all of TLo’s posts about Chloe’s alters!

      • alyce1213

Oh yes.  How about an ‘altered reality’ TV show?  Could be hilarious.

        • charlotte

Or in a magazine: Caress and Carouse’s 10 steps that will make you look absolutely terrible.

    • introspective

For real, time for a “best of” TLo on Chloe. Cause she’s cray and it brings out the best in our fave gay uncles.

  • gubblebumm

She is also allergic to all make up and grooming products. Except for tan in the can.

  • EveEve

  • Never change, you two.

  • I used to think she was like, SO cool.

Did she change, or did I?

    • watchmeboogie

You did; she’s never been cool. ;P

Seriously, I have never understood the love for her wardrobe. I’ve always thought she wore ugly clothes and she’s always just looked beat w/r/t face and hair.

  • cleep1000

Some product in her hair and a little make-up on that face would distract us from the ice-dancing dress and Herman Munster shoes.

  • joe_tey83

    She looks like Edie Falco.

    And that dress is strange.

    • Little_Olive

…if Edie Falco had chosen Carouse’s life and a taste for pot

  • TieDye64

Never change Chloe…er…Carouse. You make for the best T Lo posts.

  • DinaSews

I’m hoping the only reason anyone is taking pictures of this girl is for our amusement. Is she besties with Mary-Kate and Ashley?

  • JDreesen

i heard they got in a fight over whose likeness to use on a homemade pillow for an ex-boyfriend’s Christmas present (yes, he was already an ex at the time the present was being made).

    • PeaceBang

And he had dated BOTH of them, right? I love it!

      • JDreesen

Naturally!  They can’t share a hairstyle and *not* share a boyfriend…unless they’ve never read Sweet Valley.

  • iCouture

This girl is a f*cking trainwreck.

  • Jessica Rowe

Can you have a tab at the top that just says Chloe Sevigny?

    • fashionablylate

      Yes, please??

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I still love her and I don’t know why.

  • Carol Liddiard

Okay, does she look like she woke up from a 3-day drunk, grabbed the nearest set of drapes to wrap around her naked body, pinned the whole thing together with the black paper from a lite-brite set (with the pegs still in), then stumbled out in time to turn tricks for the afternoon rush hour? Or is that just me?

  • IAmJ

Just when I thought you guys couldn’t possibly get any cooler…

  • sagecreek

Why can’t she wear some makeup, why?

also, dress could have been cute if it hadn’t been so short-waisted, and oh, never mind.

  •  You guys are going to feel terrible when Chloe finally jumps off a building leaving a note saying simply “TLo”.

    • j_anson

I can’t imagine that she walks out like that thinking that people are going to think it looks *good* in any conventional sense, so I can only assume the TLo reaction is all part of the master plan… 🙂

    • formerlyAnon

Kind of like the effect I always imagined after seeing one of the old Scope mouthwash commercials. (For you youngsters, people were strangely  grateful and very, very perky after someone who cared left them a bottle of Scope, anonymously.)

  • Rebecca Johnson

It’s like if Chazz Michael Michaels from Blades of Glory was transformed into a woman: super unfortunate hair; bizarre clothing; and a whiff of biker-chic mixed with desperation to be cool.

  • Little_Olive

Carouse’s natural (=wannabe hipster) and DIY approach to aesthetics dictates she must not wear makeup, but show the real traces of days filled with dreaming and nights filled with gluegunning in her undereyes

  • Funkykatt

She must be over the sister wives looks and I think she looks great. Goofy but great.

    • TAGinMO

I’m with ya. While I didn’t disagree with TLo’s hilarious description of her alter, I thought she looked fairly well put togehter here.

      • Funkykatt

        thank you TaGinMO!

  • Ok, T-Lo’s write-up is pretty hilarious, but do people think she looks bad?  I mean, granted, her hair and makeup are awful, but I actually kind of like her dress!  Am I alone here?

    • sagecreek

The dress could be cute if properly fitted and styled, but yes, I do think she looks awful.

  • RebeccaKW

Limp 80’s Molly Ringwald hair.  A dress that is burning my retinas.  Ugly Walmart shoes.

I’m really beginning to think she REALLY has some sort of MPD, and all the alters are out to get her.  B/c why would she leave the house like this, if not being plotted against by people living in her head?

    • Spicytomato1

That is Molly Ringwald’s hairstyle! It looked awkwardly butchered then and it looks awkwardly butchered now.

Chloe and all her alters bug. Her ironic-ugly schtick has gotten old.

    • alyce1213

Like when her mom got her a Molly Ringwald haircut before she left for summer camp in 1986.

  • In_Stitches

She’s pretty broad through the top.  A longer skirt would have done wonders for the silhouette.  Make that change and swap out the shoes it she might have earned a pass.

  • JimMcC

Am I the only one who thinks she actually looks kind of awesome here?

    • TheOtherChristina

You’re not alone! The dress is chic as hell, and while I would have paired it with different accessories and, say, a skosh of makeup, I know that’s just not her style. This is a good look for her. Still love the commentary, though.

  • MK03

All kidding aside, is she mentally ill?

  • tylka5

    You make me smile.

  • cgoodsil

I love you guys. So, so much.

That said, I actually really like this dress. I even like the shoes (although not with this dress. Never with this dress.) It’s the hair that takes it to a really cracked-out place.

  • guest2visits

This is kind of horrible in every way.   Did this dress come from the 99 cent store ?  And the booties ?

  • Ogden1990

You know that awkward moment when you realize you have the same haircut as Chloe Sevigny…and everyone on the T&L comment board hates it?

    • cgoodsil

      LOL, oh dear.

    • Sara__B

I’d have that hair cut if I didn’t think I’d look really idiotic at my age (60), so I have the neater, tidier version.

  • Sara__B

I love your Chloe posts. So clever! So funny! So dangerous! I can NOT drink coffee while I’m reading them due to all the snorts and giggles they cause. (Confession time: I actually like her hair and dress. The fit on the dress is off, or maybe it’s not the right dress for her body, but I still like it.)

  • marilyn

It looks like a roller skating outfit.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Maybe she was going on to a secret roller disco after the premier?

  • lifetime_student

The really sad thing is that I think this is the least insanely hideous outfit I’ve ever seen her in.

  • Andrea Rossillon

You know, this outfit is way better than Caress’. It’s not high end, but it fits at the waist, shows her figure, is a genuine color, and the booties work with the short skirt to show her legs well but not make it seem like her skirt is too short.

  • PeaceBang

Outfits like this are what is going to lead me to need Botox soon. I must scowl.

  • DominoEstella

I actually like that dress.  Her.. not so much.

  • crash1212

Carouse would wear the animal prints from the previous post.

  • Lisa

How the freak does she keep getting her picture taken?  She never fails to look horrible!

    • How has she never won Fug Madness? The year she made it to the Final Two, she was felled by the inimitable Bai Ling, but still… ugh.

  • I actually like her dress, but her hair and makeup physically repulse me.

  • dickylarue

    Team Caress!

  • T & Lo… I adore you guys!

  • lilazander

It’s hiddy. She looks like a mental ward occupant.

  • I kind of like her hair

  • quiltrx

I used to think she was a really interesting-looking woman who made odd fashion choices.  She’s really starting to look like life’s getting the best of her.

  • formerlyAnon

I kind of think Carouse is trying out a costume in which to role-play a rock ‘n roll Tinkerbelle using the craft store and ice dance costume materials.

  • Sophie Collier

The truly sad part is that the write-up only make believe.  An incredibly rich and successful professional designed that dress.  True fact.  And there are those who will pay $$$ for one.

  • boweryboy

    I love you guys!

Have you ever seen Dina Martina?  Your humor is kind of similar to hers.

  • lojoso

    cray cray

  • Terri Smith

Everything above the shoulders looks like Owen Wilson.

  • estella_nyc

    You guys are hysterical.

  • I think she looks cute. Is there something wrong with my eyes? Smudge on my glasses? *checks* Nope. Still cute.

  • GorgeousThings

    Love. You!!!!!

  • rose88

I think all of the alters need to band together and destroy Carouse before she lets them go out in public like this again.

  • Nelliebelle1197

I want one of these everyday. In fact, I want a whole section devoted the CS Alter Family Tree

  • Laura Mahon

I read your blog daily. I never comment. I just have to tell you though – you always make me laugh. Thanks.

  • ElitheMonkey

I bet the rift was over the glue gun. Does her head look like it’s on backwards to anyone else or is it just me?

*Crickets* Yeah… I thought it was just me.

  • StillGary

    LOVE Y’All!

  • Judih1

why is she relevant? what recent movie/tv show has she been in?

  • Susan Crawford

It has come to my attention that . . . I like shaggy hair cut by small children with blunt-tipped scissors. I find it monumentally existential for my current vibe, and YOU can, too!

  • LambeeBaby

She looks like the “old homestead” is letting their psych patients have a nice day ice skating outside of the sanitarium.

What is her lure? I cannot recall seeing her in any movies or TV. She looks like the cashier at my local Shop Rite.

  • bitterk

    Koo koo for cocopuffs

  • Carouse also accessorizes with ill-fitting false teeth.

  • Saw her on Melrose yesterday, still carrying that look.
