She looks great (for the most part and from what we can tell through the digital haze) and she sure can rock that Versace gown, but are we the only ones who think her Carol Brady haircut is doing her no favors?

    I like the shorter do.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I love how she’s recreating the “Something About Mary” hair.  *g*

  • Judy_J

There is something very odd about these photos.  I can’t put my finger on what it is, maybe too much photo editing.

    • mjude

i agree. i dont care for them at all.  the look/pose in the vercase gown is just weird/stupid.  not feeling it.

    • mountainFashionista

Yeah, they’ve done a really bad job with these photos.  In the white Valentino gown, her calf looks positively atrophied.  (Mine looked the same way 6 weeks after breaking my leg; it was horrifying.)

    • Nelliebelle1197

I think it is the fact that she is not aging well. Not at all. Look at old photos. Amazing then difference. I guess that is the line between adorable and truly beautiful.

  • korilian

Our definitions of great are not the same. 0_o

  • Kathy Monkman

Her hair was best in that flick I can’t remember the name of where she swapped houses with Kate Winslet.  This ages her I think…

    • EditKitten

      “The Holiday.”

      • Beardslee

        fun movie!

        • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

LOVE that movie – mostly due to the three other stars, not Cammie.

          • Isy

The score for that movie is awesome as well!

          • kimmeister

That movie has an abundance of ridiculously good looking people.

        • EditKitten

I enjoyed it … nice and light. And a good surprise to see Jack Black not be totally annoying.

  • Paigealicious

I’m not really getting a Mrs. Brady-hair vibe from these shots.

  • Gayer Than Thou

She’s reached that awkward age: no longer ingenue, but not quite “mature.”

    • megohd

Unfortunately, these shots say “Woman of a certain age” to me.

  • bloggertobenamedlater

Fine hair is hard to manage sometimes, particularly if it’s stick straight. A simple blunt cut or short cut would do wonders. It would also be awesome if editors would resist the urge to photoshop the crap out of totally attractive people. There is nothing wrong with a 40+ year old actress with a few lines around the eyes. They don’t make her any less attractive and the editing gives her a weird roboface effect.

  • Terence Ng

The green dress is so va va voom, so why did they do that to her hair?!

  • Alexandra Gama Lima Pimenta

Wow. For some reason, she’s sucking the charm right out of these dresses…   Everything just looks a bit …I dunno…forced.

  • hughman

Eeek! That pic of her in that Versace dress looks like she can’t stand in those horse hooves and is trying to balance herself on the table with her lobster hand. NO NO NO.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

She has a great body and a beautiful face and these are some gorgeous gowns – hard to find anything “wrong” but nothing really feels “right” about this shoot… Cameron looks best really happy and carefree – but the cover shot is not her most flattering smile.

  • 3boysful

She may be rocking the Versace, but it’s not attractive–what’s the black and white floral peeking out the side??

The Armani photographs nicely in B&W, which is funny b/c I don’t really like the dress.

Oh, and the hair?  I like the short cut.  Sets her apart.

    • alyce1213

I didn’t read your response before I posted — I had pretty much the same reactions.

      • 3boysful

         Great minds!  😉

    • Sara Munoz

And those shoes ruin any appeal the Versace had. WTF, really? Looks like she strapped her eyeglass case to her shoe so she wouldn’t lose it.

  • PastryGoddess

erm…I don’t think your idea of “rocking” and my idea of “rocking” that Versace dress are the same.  This editorial is, how do you say, not showing Cammie to her best.

  • Snailstsichr

I love what the blue dress on the cover does for her eyes.

    • MilaXX

I think that’s a cute dress, and I like it both with and without a belt.

  • crash1212

Some people just don’t look good in short hair. She’s one of them. I kind of like the slickerd back look she sports in that awful Versace – otherwise…let it grow Cam! Also, what’s with the hiddy shoes with the Versace…ick.

  • lordandtaylor

Great clothes, um, wait a minute….great clothes until that Versace “thing”. At leaste the shoes are fun. These photos are a marvel of photoshopping.

  • JasmineAM

She looks good in it, but that Versace gives her the shoulders of a linebacker.

  • ccm800

She makes me thing of Angie Dickinson.

  • Violina23

She looks awkard and uncomfortable in that green cut-out dress (Versace?). Like she has a really bad cramp or something

  • Beardslee

Is it just me or does her leg look weird in the photo with the long white dress?
I’ve learned to distrust photographs in which the person has been polished to a high sheen.  I know it’s unnatural.  I’m with the folks who wish they’d leave well enough alone and just let her be her fabulous late 30s self.

    • mountainFashionista

REALLY weird.  Like it’s on backwards or something.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Too hard a look for her. She’s trying for Swinton and ends up a poor man’s Winslet (who is also done no favors by the hard look).

  • Laurie Bergman

I like the breezy hair and eye makeup on the cover and that’s about it.  She looks very bot-like in these photos, not at all like her usual free-wheeling self.

  • BrooklynBomber

Nice clothes, except the Versace, which should be thrown down a very deep well.

    • Beardslee

I’m with you.  Gianni was witty but Donatella is just vulgar.

  • elemspbee

she looks great in that Valentino. her face looks phenom in that photo, not grotesque as manipulated in the cover.

  • MilaXX

I think she could stand to let her hair grow at least 3 inches longer, but I’m sorry that Versace dress is a hot mess on her and the model.

  • EditKitten

Her pose in the Versace is sooooo awkward. Though I do find her gorgeous.

  • MinAgain

I like Marlena Dietrich as much as the next woman, but was that really the look they were going for in the white dress?

  • shopgirl716

The only thing Cam and I have in common is our hair.  Baby fine and straight.  Not much you can do except wear it short and use product.  It’s that or a weave and weaves are no fun for active folk.  I’ve been wearing a pixie for several years as I have never mastered the hair product skills and I’m not paying for a weave.j

    • Spicytomato1

A pixie cut has a certain style, which I love, where Cam’s helmet hair does not. It’s Matronly with a capital M. I cannot for the life of me imagine her rocking a pixie, though.

      • foodycatAlicia

I think her features are just too bold for a pixie cut.

      • foodycatAlicia

I think her features are just too bold for a pixie cut.

  • alyce1213

Cameron’s skin color is weird on the cover (too much tanner or Photoshop) and the blue lace dress is a bit twee.

The white Valentino is perfect for her, but her face looks grim and absolutely cadaverous.  Why did they do that?

The green Versace is Donatella at her cheesiest.  Cameron’s face and posture are rigid and forced, even though her body looks great.

I like the Armani Privé, but better in black and white; it’s a bit too snaky in green.

She has fine hair that suffers from looking over-processed and dry, and sometimes you just have to chop off quite a bit. I think her hair looks great here.

  • RebeccaKW

I think she looks great with short hair.  But this style doesn’t work.  It’s too mushroomy.

  • TieDye64

Just goes to show a great bod and a pretty face don’t necessarily add up to a great photo shoot. I don’t know, something about this is just odd and awkward, particularly the Versace. Odd.

    • viridian61

I think they have changed her body proportions in photoshop.  Her arms, esp, the right one, are too long in that photo.

  • j_anson

That Versace gown is objectively hideous, but damn is that a striking picture. I guess that’s fashion for you?

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

She’s really working an image change, but she overshot serious and landed in mature.  Cam, you don’t have to be a lady who lunches yet.   Grow out the grandma hair.

  • Genesis

In these pics, esp. in the white Valentino and the Versace, she reminds me of Ellen Barkin in Ocean’s 13. Overall I like the hair but don’t think it’s used to best effect in these photos.

  • JimMcC

That Versace dress looks like it was misplaced from your previous Salad Days post…

  • Rosa Guillen-Vela

She looks like  Cloris Leachman or Ellen Barkin in some of these pictures, not Carol Brady.

    • foodycatAlicia

I’m picking up more and more Ellen Barkin resemblance in Cammie as she ages. Which is not a bad thing, of course.

  • Veronika Kaufmann

that’s what I’ve been saying all along. She has too strong of a face for such short hair. And I do not like the lizard gown at all. yikes.

  • allj

Personally, I think she looks aged in a lot of these. Or maybe I just refuse to believe that she is any older than she was in “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”

  • Rhonda Hanson

    two comments:
    1. Shailene Woodley wore the Valentino dress to the Oscars and got ripped for wearing a mature dress.
    2. Why is Cameron holding her hair to mimic There is Something about Mary. Just looks odd.

  • BigShamu

I have a question for Commentariat, can a star have input into the final photo?  In other words can a star say yes or no to a lot, a little or no Photoshopping?  Or is it out of their hands completely and up to the editorial staff of the magazine?

  • andakat

She actually looks a lot like Kristen Chenoweth here, which is hilarious, because I think there’s about a full foot height difference between those two.

    • kattyatlaw

I noticed it the most in the second picture – dead ringer for Cheno. On the cover and in the green dress, she looks like herself-ish, but the last pic is a dead ringer for another person entirely. I’m blanking.

      • librarygrrl64

        Bo Derek?

      • algaechick

I was getting a touch of Glenn Close from the Fatal Attraction days in the last picture.

    • kcmari

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the preview!

    • Psy_Chick

I was just scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else thought that. She looks exactly like Chenoweth in the Valentino.

    • AudreysMom

I thought so too – like Kristen C’s taller (older? younger?) sister.

  • Gus Casals

I believe the Carol Brady was to save overprocessed hair without resorting to a wig or pulling a Sinead.
She’s rocking the hell out of that Vlentino, but the Versace is just… like a parody, right?

  • BayTampaBay

The older Cammie gets the more she looks like Linda Evans IMHO.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

I really don’t care for most of these shots.  She’s cute, the clothes are beautiful, but the photos have no soul.  I also believe that along with photographer, makeup, hair and stylist, they ought to be giving us the name of the photoshopper, especially the one from the front cover.  They took about 10-15 years off her!

  • Monabel

    That HIDEOUS Versace gown.

  • lrhoff

Never been a fan of hers….and I’m definitely not liking the Versace green gown.  Just sayin’.

  • Jecca2244

    Her hair screams Ellen Barkin….

  • librarygrrl64

    Green Versace = alien skank.

  • Scarletbee

I’m getting a Madame-X (by John Singer Sargent) vibe from the Versace pic, with the table, background/lack-of and twisted hand, but it’s a peculiarly awkward version of the pose, kind of like SOMEONE had that idea and forgot to tell Ms Diaz and the photographer: (what’s interesting is that the Versace is one-shouldered and, if I recall the story correctly, the painting was originally done with an off-the-shoulder strap which was deemed too racy for a portrait and the strap was repainted in place :) ).

  • Amye

Ugh…  She even looks like Glen Close in the white Valentino.  (Love GC, but she looks age appropriate.)

  • Me Again

The dress she is wearing on the cover is ADORABLE, and she is rocking that Versace better that the model.  She’s not my fave actress and she is definitely digitally remastered, but they picked some great clothes for her.

  • Pamela

Not really Carol Brady hair-Carol had a MAJOR lady mullet.

  • guest2visits

Both the Valentino dresses are gorgeous; and she looks wonderful in them. Especially the way she was photo’d in the white dress.
The green Versace looks ridiculous on both model and Cameron. Cheesy Vegas-ness.
I think I like that snake dress on Cameron. It looks dopey on the model with her hair and cork screw hat.

  • H3ff

OK, now let’s see the “before” pictures.

  • Julie Chase

I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but she looks so much like a much taller Kristen Chenoweth in the photo where she’s grasping her hair. Freaked me OUT.

  • kimmeister

I do like the way her eyelid creases are emphasized.
I’m surprised to see the Valentino after Shailene already wore it to the Oscars months ago.
What a shame to have put the Armani Privé in black and white.

  • schadenfreudelicious

I can confidently say i loathe the Versace gown equally on Cammie and the model.

  • cleep1000

The blue lace dress is gorgeous! The others, not so much. Her hair doesn’t bother me. Her best feature is her eyes and whatever hair-style plays them up is going to work for her.

  • PeaceBang

I actually love the first two dresses and hate the Versace gown. It ages her (she looks like a Vegas madame) and the torturous pose is painful to look at (call a chiropractor to the set!). That said, I was surprised how much I loved her in the Valentino, except for the 3″ of fake tan. That is one sharp dress on her. I love the “grabbing the hair and pulling it up in a way reminiscent of the famous ‘There’s Something About Mary’ gag” thing. That HAD to be intentional, no?

  • marilyn

I think her haircut is apprpriate for her age.  Maybe she is going to be a woman, and not that middle aged woman who is kidding herself.  I like the new Cameron.  The photographer got great shots of her in the clothes.  The light blue dress is just plain dowdy.  The skirt is too long and wide.  Although he managed to make her look good.  Pastel lace, the new overdone fabric.   The green dress with the cutouts looks like either a stripper costume, or a ‘hot dress’ from the 70’s.  The photographer could not do much with that dress. The other dresses were great.

I like Cameron best as a mature woman, much better than that middleaged teenager with the old face who keeps her hair long and overbleached.  At some point, that has to end.  And, Cameron is looking great.   I think she looks younger than with her decades old Charlie’s Angels look. Jennifer Aniston might take some notes here.

  • Lina_bee

Something about her face in the Valentino shot reminds me of Lauren Hutton, which I guess bodes well for her when she’s LH’s age? She’s always had baby-fine hair, so I can see the appeal of shorter do’s — and nothing wrong with evoking her biggest/best movies.  But the photoshopping on the cover, omg.  Girlfriend has amazingly strong arms, and it looks like they shaved a third of her muscles off. Like women aren’t allowed to be strong.

  • Lisa

I love the way she looks here!  And I think her haircut is great for her.

  • Lilak

    Poor Man’s Charlize.  Feh.

  • Candigirl1968

You aren’t the only ones.  It’s just not flattering.

  • Louise Bryan

The best look is the cover shot.  I like the short hair, and it suits her.

  • VicD

And that’s the mark of an actress who used to be a model.  She werqs it all.

  • prettybigkitty

This is one time I would say extensions would do a girl some good.

  • NCDFan

It’s kind of tragic how her facial expressions all seem to be grimaces.

  • Claudia Gilbert

I really love the white Valentino…super pretty.

  • RzYoung

I love LOVE the Valentino shot and dress – and little nod to Mary with the hair, or am I seeing too much into that?

  • Martha Anderson

    dare I say it

These photos give us a look forward to the middle age woman she will be.  She looks beautiful with an edge of maturity that promises that she might be one of those stunning 50+ women

  • fursa_saida

Man, I just feel like she looks stupid in all of these, like she has no idea what’s going on.

  • KathKo

    God bless Photoshop.

  • nancylee61

There’s something about Cameron in that I never find her attractive, although I have heard people who have seen her in person talk about her, and they said she glows. Whatever that means. But she looks dreadful here. I don’t like these photos at all.

But can anyone tell me who made the shoes in the pic of her in the white Valentino gown?? I love them!!!

  • EEKstl

I know it borders on Sisterwife Couture but I love that Valentino gown.

  • Shawn EH

Isn’t that white Valentino the same one Shailene Woodley wore to … the Oscars? the Globes?

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

She has a Mary Lou Retton and/or Dorothy Hamill cut.  Ugh.
