Alexander Skarsgard in Dolce&Gabbana

Posted on April 05, 2012

Dammit. We took one look at these pictures and thought we had an easy, “Here you go ladies; man meat!” kinda post. But then he had to go and set off a couple T Lo OCD points and now we have to criticize him instead.

No, really. We have to.

Alexander Skarsgard attends the premiere of “Battleship” in Japan in a Dolce&Gabbana suit.

Bleh. What’s the point of wearing a frigging Dolce & Gabbana suit if you’re going to style it to look as bland and inoffensive as possible? What’s wrong with a crisp white shirt and a tie with blue notes in it to play up your eyes, Alexander? Is that just too standard for you? Too bad. At least you won’t look like someone playing the personification of “Dust” for a Swiffer commercial.

Also the fit all over is a little off, but especially in the pants. Tsk. Pure “pulling a Jolie” here.

I hear TLo’s criticisms, but he still looks so good that the critique just doesn’t have any real traction with me.  It’s the water running off the proverbial duck’s back.

“like someone playing the personification of “Dust” for a Swiffer commercial.”
Thank you for the best laugh of the week!

    • lucyloo222

He just doesn’t do it for me.  He has a tiny head and his eyes are too close together.  He’s too wimpy to be even called a douchebag.  He’s just kind of… there… Now, if you want to post more French editorials about Michael Fassbender, I am there.

      • cam_lo

hahaha to each their own, but askars being wimpy just doesn’t compute for me. even when he was trying to be wimpy in season 4 of true blood it doesn’t work.

    • Charlotte

But on the positive side, he didn’t shove his hands into the trouser pockets.

    • Eric Scheirer Stott

Looks like he borrowed the suit from a shorter friend.  Also- the shirt collar looks too low to me- I think a higher rise would look much better.

      • Sara L.

Yup, that jacket is way too short. I think you may be right about the shirt collar, as well. That’s a whole lotta neck.

        • Nancy Abrams

Little things can add up to one big fail. The tie is knotted too low; the sleeves are too long, so the shirt cuff is not showing; closed button on jacket is pulling; don’t like seeing the button on his waistband; pants a skosh too long. That beautiful suit deserves more. Are pocket squares completely out of style? This outfit would certainly benefit from one.

    • Shinobi

You’re right, that suit doesn’t fit him well at all.  He should take it off.

      • viridian61

There’s room on my bedroom floor for the suit and everything else

    • Paola Thomas

His type of dishwater blondness looks awful in crisp white.  I think grey is a much better choice.

    • brokephilosopher

why are there words? they are taking up space in my brain that could better be filled with Alexander Skarsgard.  ps. the first time I tried to type that I put my hands on the wrong place on the keyboard so it came out as complete gibberish.  which is how my brain feels after looking at these pictures.  who cares that he doesn’t know how clothes work? so pretty!

    • mozzer0906

He’s wearing clothes?  I was too busy looking at his face…

    • Cindi Williams

    • Vaniljekjeks

He’s good looking, yes, but I am still having dreams from that past Fassy post.  No one does it for me like he does.

    • DiverK

So, he should just take the suit off entirely.  I wouldn’t mind.

    • Kiltdntiltd

Boys, I’m giving him a pass. He’s a dreamboat. Call me shallow, but there it is.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

      i’d pull his jolie.

      • TheOriginalLulu

      • PaperPusher2

LOL!  I would too.  I’ll get in line behind you.

      • cam_lo

        so awesome.

    • In_Stitches

The initial impact is, BAM, beautiful!  But then you think about it…no belt, problematic hem, boring as oatmeal styling.  I’m not saying he’s out, but there was zero effort put in here.

    • kingderella

the fit really is a little off, but i dig the different shades of gray.

    • TAGinMO

Agree with TLo about the fit: Either the pants should be a skosh more snug, or the jacket should be a skosh less snug. As it is, they look like they were mismatched from 2 different suits made of the same material.

Also agree with several other commenters regarding an appropriate solution to the fit issues: Take the damned suit off and get your ass over to my house pronto, Alex!

    • Kel of the Pop Tarts

I’m sorry. I didn’t hear your criticisms because I was distracted by his face…He looks good!

    • MilaXX

It’s a Monet, not bad until you look close. Then you see a bland tie/shirt combo, cuffs a hair too long, pants a tad to long and jacket a skoosh too tight, hence the pulling while buttoned.

    • cgoodsil

      I’ll be in my bunk.

…You’re right about the suit, though. Definite problems. He should take it off. Right now.

    • Trevor Burroughs

He looks odd in those photos to me, like he’s uncomfortable or something.  Maybe it’s just too tight.

    • PeggyOC

See for me he always looks a little like this suit.  His parts just don’t seem to hang together right.  His face is too long, his joints are odd, he always just looks kinda gawky to me.  (Commence the snarky comments about how his parts hang……now.)

    • DinahR

I hate to tell you but I think a lot of kittens are thinking ‘man meat’ anyway.  I know I am… and I can’t help it, just can’t concentrate on the suit.

‘Personification of dust’ is like, the best line ever though!

    • ChaCha_70

Oh please TLo, not listening. He’s gorgeous!

    • TheOriginalLulu

Enh. He’s positively dreamy. Who cares?

    • Antonia O’Connor Donnelly

Pulling a Jolie, I laugh everytime!

    • discordany

I see what you’re saying, but he looks so damn hot that I dont give a shit about the styling. He looks fantastic, if a bit robotic.

    • MsMajestyk

Where is his belt you ask?  Why he left it at my house of course! :)

But yes, he does need a belt for those too loose slacks.

    • Pants_are_a_must

Oh honey, Eric would have NOT approved.

    • miagain

It occurs to me that OCD would be a positive thing if you were a stylist.  Quite possibly one of the few occupations where it could be a plus!

    • pangur_ban

Hmmm?  What are you going on about?  Did you say something?  About a suit?  …MAN MEAT!!!!

    • Clair Ellis

I knew you were going to comment on his pants length. Thanks to you two I notice it all the time now! It’s kind of a burden honestly…But he looks super hot.

    • Sara Munoz

Points well-taken. But he still looks good. And boy, he REALLY takes after the old man. He’s got a GREAT middle age to look forward to!

      • Catiline

Oh gosh yes.  I was the right demographic for Matt and Ben, but forget it – Stellan Skarsgard was the real dreamboat for me in Good Will Hunting.  And in many other things.

    • Susan Collier

You probably have a point about the… wait, what did you say?

    • Cecilia Evans

You are absolutely right about those pants.  The whole suit, actually.  He should take them off immediately, preferably in my presence!

    • Matt Bailer

OMG his head is so teeny in that first pic!  Alas, I may have to kick him out of bed…

….and f*ck him on the floor!

      • LambeeBaby

        I think I just peed myself…just a little.

    • LambeeBaby

His knees are a little bent and his arms are positioned oddly. He looks ready to launch himself.

    • Paula Berman

Why does he look like the Madame Tussaud’s version of Alexander Skarsgard in this pics?

    • jw_ny

The monochromatic look is passe.  I hate the gap between the collar and tie..not to mention what a boring tie it is, and that knot!  egads…and those pants!  smh.  Also…I hate this ‘no belt’ trend.  His good looks don’t make up for all these flaws…he really just needs to take all those clothes off and start over…errr…scratch that ‘start over’ part.  ;)

    • cluecat

Bland colored suit, dishwater shirt, boring tie.

And, that crotch area is kind of a mess, it needs to be made much much tigher, I mean tailored better.

    • formerlyAnon

I’ll let him keep either the shirt or the tie, but ONE of ‘em’s got change out to perk things up.

I have to say, I think I love the suit more than I love him. It’s not at all flashy, but you can look at it and just SEE how nice that fabric is and how well made it is. Which makes the fit look even worse than it is.

    • quiltrx

He looks a little too Cary Elwes here…I think it’s the hair.  I’m thinking a sexy, tousled, Bill-Pullman-in-Lost-Highway hairdo would have done a lot for this look.

    • bellafigura1

He looks stiff, disconnected and weird.  With a bubble butt.

    • lalahartma

      Love him!

    • Kat Wright

He looks like a wax model in Madam Tussards!

    • Amy Ennis

Sorry guys. The only thing I see wrong with this photo is that I’m not standing by his side.

    • ccm800

agreed. The jacket makes his shoulders seem small and his hips – hippy.

    • Roman000

lol @ all the “he doesn’t do it for me” comments, as if ya’ll had the chance to begin with. :o)
He’s a good-looking man and the suit looks great (though a bit short for him).

    • ChaquitaPhilly

Dust? Schmust! He looks wonderful. Thanks, Guys!

    • Brian Jardine

On the other hand, I’m really impressed that he has his hands out of his pocket in every picture.

    • lareveuse

It kind of looks like he has explosive diarrhea and he’s afraid if he unflexes anything, he’ll blow.

      I hate that.

    • Ally Monge

I am sure there was some sort of text accompanying these photos… but I just do not recall them. However, unless they said “do a scantily clas editorial soon Alexander” I doubt I would agree with them

    • Anna

Get over it T Lo! He looks classy and great.

    • adnama79

      He needs a belt.

    • cam_lo

he’s still…sigh. yeah. also, i love how awkward he always looks on red carpets, and strangely i think it’s because he actually knows how to pose. like he knows no hands in pockets, stand still, chin down a little…but he looks so awkwardly and hilariously stiff. but alas he is perfect so i can’t criticize.

    • DannyJane

I have complained about this before. Because he wears clothes so well Alex is a model of choice for several houses. Hickey Freeman loves him too. What I don”t understand why a name house would pay for a model of his calibre and then put him in a suit that doesn’t fit. ASkars is 6’4″+. He has broad shoulders and a narrow waist. He tends to be a little hippy for a man because of the muculature of his thighs but he is in superb shape. He wears clothes very well but they have to be fitted! Yet Freeman and Dolce both think they can send him out there in an off-the-rack job and he will make them look good. It doesn’t work that way. The more expensive a suit is the more it needs expert tailoring. His jacket is too short and puckering across the chest and at the pocket flap. The buttons are located too high. The pants are too tight with stress wrinkles across the front. Alex doesnt make Dolce and Gabbana look bad– Dolce and Gabbana make themselves look bad.
