WERQ: Elizabeth Banks in Andrew Gn

Posted on March 23, 2012

Yes, we said we were gonna take a slight break from all the Hunger Games poledancing, but dammit, this dress is ridiculously cute on her.

Elizabeth Banks attends the Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Launch in LA in an Andrew Gn dress.

Andrew Gn Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Amanda Ware (SILENT)

And the hair and makeup are super-pretty. We don’t love the shoes but since she’s been doing world-class work on the red carpet this month, the girl deserves some snaps for it. You WERQ that press, girl!

    Ooh, I like those shoes!

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

They’re certainly better than the runway model’s.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

I would have liked a necklace.

  • JasmineAM

At least the shoes aren’t putty/nude! Think positive!

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

       Exactly!

  • VioletFem

Elizabeth seems to really like the color orange.

    • mshesterp

And she looks so great in it!

      • VioletFem

Oh, I agree. So few people look good in it, that it is really striking when you see someone who can really rock an orange dress.

    • nannypoo

So do I. I think it’s a love/hate color, though. I’m pretty sure there’s no one who thinks its just OK. Like cilantro.

      • kimmeister

Cilantro is just ok to me. . .

    • NC_Meg

I think it’s because “the girl on fire” is a big thing in the Hunger Games. Although, Elizabeth does NOT play the girl on fire so I’m not sure why she keeps defaulting to orange.

      • http://thehathorlegacy.com MaggieCat

Probably because most of the time she’s being photographed in front of a  Hunger Games promotional themed backdrop which is black and firey. Dark colors would just blend into the black background, but most bright colors would clash with the vivid orange tones unless you stay in the same family. Hence all the dresses in yellow/orange/red.

        • NC_Meg

That’s a good point. And it DOES look good on her.

  • Vera L-

how do you wear a bra with that? ~snerk~

    • VioletFem

You don’t. This is the sort of dress that calls for self-adhesive cups are, or expertly applied double sided tape.

      • nannypoo

It’s an inside joke for those of us who suffered through PR AllStars.

  • alyce1213

Please T-Lo, if you’re gonna diss her shoes, let’s be able to SEE them well.

She looks great.  Another home run.

    • mshesterp

I think maybe a pop of color might have worked, like blue.  but at least they aren’t distracting.

  • DebB_Rocker

I like it, but that belt she wore doesn’t work with the look. It’s fighting with the feel of the design. To me, the dress is a couture version of summer fun party dress, and the belt is dumbing it down into business attire. Otherwise I love it, and she is WERQING it, the ensemble is quite perfect for her.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

I don’t like the belt either. I would prefer the one on the model.

    • Lilak

I’m with you and Sara . . .  Model’s belt adds texture and a little bit of ‘fancy’ that elevates the whole dress.  (Funny, what a difference a wee belt can make.)
Also agree that Miss B. looks tee-riff regardless.

    • AudreysMom

agreed- that is exactly what that fabric matched belt does. All she needs is shoulder pads and a briefcase. That said, though, the rest of the look is wonderful and I’m a huge fan of this color for her.

  • mshesterp

It seems slightly big around the neck, but overall she looks adorable.  She’s just been looking so great lately.

  • http://pleasewelcomeyourjudges.com/ Brian @ PWYJudges

Yes!!! Snaps UP for Lizzie B!

  • Calinda_L

“Elizabeth Banks attends the Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Launch in LA” — wow, that is some serious commitment to poledancing.

    • Lori

Is it just me, or is this business of stars attending the opening of stores kind of weird?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/C5DHGDPX5J7BENE4HI6TBQUZHM Kathryn

I’m curious.  Is (are?) TLo planning on watching The Hunger Games?

    • adnama79

86% on Rotten Tomatoes, TLo.  C’mon…  you may as well.  You’ll need to see it to get reference jokes in the future.

  • Lori

Is it just me, or is this business of stars attending the opening of stores kind of weird?

    • Beardslee

it sounds like it would be a big drag: stop what you’re doing, get ready to go, go, get your photo taken blah blah blah.  And for something so trivial.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GFRKTKRR6FKE2G4QO4MQNGL6DY Carol

I assume she is handsomely compensated for the appearance, so let’s see.  Show up in pretty clothes, get picture taken, smile and sign a few autographs – pretty sure I’d put up with it.

        • Beardslee

Yeah, I thought about that.  It must be why I don’t want to have her job, as I’d just as soon be home with a book, so it’s my problem, not hers.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

oh it goes back & back & back & back, probably to the beginning of when there were stars [meaning: not in the sky but maybe in ancient greece]. but it is still kind of weird.

    • http://twitter.com/RBinTexas RBinTexas

There is a Restoration Hardware store about 40 minutes from me that I have never been tempted to visit, but after seeing that neato sofa in that photo, I’ll probably make a point to pop in and see what’s on display. The marketing works, at least for this impulse shopper!

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Agreed. Shoes bad. Dress = WIN. I do wish the neckline was a tad higher, but it’s a pretty awesome dress.

  • gabbilevy

That’s a sharp little look. Love.

  • PhillipWilde

It even looks like something Effie Trinket would wear (with drastically different styling, of course).  Fabulous. *snaps*

    • adnama79

She rocked that role.  Rocked it.

  • Sara__B

Great dress, but I’d like it better with the plunging neckline a bit higher or somewhat filled in with a necklace. Lots of sternum and “the Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Launch” don’t seem like a match.

  • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986?hl=en&tab=h Judy S

That dress looks amazing on her. And she looks amazing too.

  • CQAussie

You’re right, the shoes aren’t all that great and I also have issue with the matchy belt.  Overall though – great little number on Ms. Banks!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_GFRKTKRR6FKE2G4QO4MQNGL6DY Carol

Effie for the win.  The model’s shoes are fabulous.

  • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

That belt looks like it came from Forever21, but everything else is so cute I’ll give her a pass. Wish she’d been more adventurous with her shoes, though.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JVY7XEMGPDVRCWR5JIY757SBJE suzin

Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Launch in LA…seriously?

  • http://www.GirlsBestFriendandcoBlog.com GBFANDCO

The dress is stunning but I think she should have played up the color jewel tones accessories would have given it the umph! YOU KNOW I AM ALL ABOUT THE STYLING!

  • Terence Ng

I’m trying to decide if this having a collar would be tacky or awesome? I wanna lean on awesome, but…

    What say you all?

  • Violina23

Okay fashion experts — would a necklace have totally killed this? Like something small and understated?

  • http://twitter.com/RBinTexas RBinTexas

Somebody help me please…how do you pronounce “Gn”?

  • http://twitter.com/cornekopia Shawn EH

Girl, that IS your dress! And I’m guessing it might be “ung,” said sort of gutturally.

  • Judy_J

She looks great.  Love the dress, and that paprika color is really good on her.

  • Pants_are_a_must

Such a weird dress, but it really looks good on her! WERQ your fiery wardrobe!

  • granddelusion

Why do I always think that’s Chelsea Handler?

    • introspective

EB is the cuter younger Chelsea Handler. As in Chelsea wishes she could photograph this well on her best day but that aint happenin…

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

I never thought that until you mentioned it, but now I definitely see it. For just a second, I always think she’s Julie Bowen. Elizabeth, Chelsea and Julie could convincingly play sisters.

  • StelledelMare

She looks fantastic and also she was perfection in the movie. I mean the whole movie was perfection but she was just so amazing.

    • marciekr

She was a perfect Effie.  Very good movie!

  • cleep1000

I am just not feeling it. That is all.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I’m not, either – this is one of those cute-in-theory dresses to me. I think the shape does weird things to her body and makes her look kinda shapeless.

      Great color though.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

She looks really great.  She keeps on showing us how its done.  Bravo girl!

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I LOVE that dress. Definitely a good reason to chance the HG overkill. She looks divine.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Julie-Chase/731391326 Julie Chase

I love the color palate she’s been working-the oranges, yellows, and reds look really lovely on her.

  • kimmeister

Love the hair.  Sleek without looking harsh.

  • http://www.thirteen.org/downton-abbey/category/the-downton-dish/ Gotham Tomato

I normally don’t go for orange, but that is a GORGEOUS shade of orange, and she looks effortless.

    –GothamTomato

  • Lauren Bradshaw

I am surprised that a V that deep does not look ghastly.

  • NurseEllen

She does look cute.  I like the model’s belt better.

  • SapphoPoet

Love that color. I just bought a sweater in that color. (Don’t know what color to pair it with, though.)

    • adnama79

I have a sweater in that color (a cardigan) and it goes really well over all my neutrals, esp my brown, black or white tees and some of my jewel tones.  Aqua/turquoise in particular, and fushia. (The cardigan has that shade plus other oranges – paprika alone probably wouldn’t work with fushia, but the right shades of navy-to-aqua would be great.)

      • SapphoPoet

Thanks so much. I’ve worn it with navy and denim–looked great with the denim. I have a fushia shell I’ll have to try it with–might not work, but if the shade is right, it could be stunning.

  • R. L.

Such an easy-going look!!!  Great color, happy face, excellent makeup and hair, shoes that Werq so it is a big WERQ.  Love it!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I really want to love this dress, but – sternum.  So close!

  • ballerinawithagun

I never used to like her but she’s gotten better with age. Love the total look, even the shoes!

  • Rand Ortega

Between this & that gorgeous yellow gown, Ms. Banks is hittin’ it out of the park! WERQ it, Mama!

  • Lisa

She’s really pretty, but I’m not loving this dress.

  • MilaXX

I like cute dress, great color. Nice hair & makeup

  • Sophie Collier

I want it! I love the color, the cut, and the awesome sleeves.  She’s got the right amount of modest boobage to work this dress and not look salacious.  WERQ!

  • rainwood1

Someone must have told her orange is her color.  She’s been very pumpkin-y lately.

    • adnama79

I think it’s thematic dressing for her role in Hunger Games, which has a main character who is dubbed “the girl on fire.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

I like the runway belt better. Truth be told, I find this dress super boring, aside from the color. Also, bad photo angles making her look like a bobble-head. But she does look pretty.

  • DCSheehan

Looks like an orange bin liner pulled in at the waist with a big V cut in the front. It’s doing nothing for her cleavage. Honestly ladies, God gave you boobs, show ‘em off!

  • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.wordpress.com Catherine

Good Lord. Restoration Hardware has a spring launch, and they manage to get celebs to actually come to it?!

  • Susan Crawford

What a fabulous color for her! And I love the gold earrings – just the right touch. Hard to see the details on the shoes, but they look SO much better than the model’s in the runway shot. I’m giving two snaps up for this!

my roomate’s ex-wife earned $15307 last month. she is making money on the laptop and got a $387400 house. All she did was get blessed and profit by the advice exposed on that site top of this comment

  • CatherineRhodes

Noticing how great a plunging neckline looks when babyheads aren’t involved. I agree on the WERQ. Love the orange, and the whole look is so perfect for the event (even if the event itself is a little silly).

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RQTK6BRFB27DFSYOAE5XYJUMGU Anna Merhan

    It’s Peeta’s favorite color.

  • glennethph

It’s actually something Effie would wear…well, with a lot of crap thrown on but she’d totally wear that as a foundation for an outfit.

  • GTrain

I find it comical that Restoration Hardware has red carpet events.

  • adnama79

The hair and make-up are great.  I don’t love the fabric belt, but I don’t like the belt on the model at all.  Close-but-not-quite color irritates me still.

Ms. Banks nailed her role in The Hunger Games.  Looking forward to watching her in the next.

  • http://twitter.com/TheSpankyBlog McSpanky

Restoration Hardware? Does that mean she got cool house porn swag in addition to rocking that fabulous frock? It’s all too much. (Fanning self.)

God, this has changed my life. I no longer can boldy declare “Orange sucks.” She looks to die.

  • butterflysunita

I must be an exceptionally bitter kitten today because for me there is something pumpkin-like about the dress that I don’t particularly like.

  • miatamam

She should never take it off.  Just perfect for her.

  • http://twitter.com/MFMblog MusingsFromManhattan

the Restoration Hardware Spring 2012 Launch? that’s a thing?
