The clothes are gorgeous.  I did scroll quickly…..I do not like clowns.  Never have.  They appear in my nightmares.

      • LARAE

@Vaniljekjeks:disqus my classmate’s sister-in-law brought in $16950 Ṗast month. she has been making cash on the internet and got a $3821OO home. All she did was get fortunate and put to use the instructions written on this web site..MakeCash2.CoM

      • luciaphile

         Can’t sleep…clown will eat me

    • j_anson

I don’t know. These are so busy I’m having trouble focusing on/having an opinion about the actual clothes being modeled.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lucía-Gavello/1253586868 Lucía Gavello

I agree, it seems to be a trend in editorial photography though. It’s not my cup of tea at all.

    • MK03

Oh, so THAT’S who couture is designed for: Very expensive clowns.

    • altalinda

Thank goodness you paired the clown shots with another photo of each dress.  I can’t really see or appreciate the clothes in the clown shots.

    • jilly_d

love the shot with the Dior gown and the upside down girl!  these are beautiful.  but…I’m not one of those people freaked out by clowns.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Stunning, stunning, stunning clothes. So beautiful, that I can forgive the creepiness of the clowns.

    • hughman

THESE LOOKS WERE ALL STOLEN FROM THE INTERNET!! Oh wait, wrong scandal. My bad.

    • terpsichory

What a brilliantly realized editorial. The sheer production value has such an old-school feel to it! Facial expressions! Movement! Contortion! I’m happy!

    • joe_tey83

Me is gonna have nightmares from this.

    • pippitypup

At last we discover who the PR stiltwalker challenge was meant for.

      • Catiline

I was just going to say this is the stiltwalker challenge of editorials!

        • ballerinawithagun

I was getting excited that nobdy else had posted the stiltwalker challenge, thought I might be the first!

    • MilaXX

Now I’ve got a Judy Collins earworm

      • TieDye64

You have my sympathy. My father-in-law owned the album. My (at the time future) sis-in-law shamed him into never playing it anymore during parties. It took a long time but she was relentless and she won. That is one of THE WORST earworms of all time. You have my sympathy.

    • AlexisPayne

It’s so weird and so fabulous, love!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=668425491 Daniela ‘Dani’ Weiss-Bronstein

      I love this.

    • Amy Ellinger

can’t scroll, clowns will eat me!

    • sleah_in_norcal

now i know how to make my daughter run out of the room screaming!  she’s always hated clowns.

    • marilyn

Most of the gowns are beautiful.  The Chanel outfit is vintage gorgeous.  The Versace dress is stuck in the 1980’s, and could possibly be a circus outfit.  The Givenchy model had some grotesque problem with her lips, so I barely noticed what she was wearing.  The Margiela printed pantsuit was hideous, which matched the runway model’s face.  The gold lame swimsuit was appropriate for a circus performer, so I am not sure why it is here.  Mostly the gowns and dresses are high end and gorgeous.  The clown pictures were mostly insight into someone’s therapy issues.  I try to not think about it.  When Mondo (from PRAS) called his collection “Therapy”, maybe he had some insight into what to do with these types of thoughts.  Unfortunately, the clown people here had plenty of time to thoroughly explore whatever rattles around in their heads. Too bad.  Perhaps the clown people here ought to consider going more in Mondo’s direction, you know, towards THERAPY.

    • BrooklynBomber

So much fabulosity!! I’m having heart palpitations, for real!

    • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

Sooo no one’s going to say anything about the Maison Martin Margiela model’s [lack of] face?

K, I guess I’ll have to. WHAT THE FUCK IS ON/WHERE IS THIS BITCH’S FACE?

      • AthenaJ

I’m gonna see that image in my nightmares tonight.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=720742723 Sarah Winningham

Ha, the Maison Martin Margiela suit should only be worn by Edina on AbFab –  Lacroix, darling!

      • AthenaJ

         “I love it – if it’s a Lacroix!”

    • Lori

I’m not a fan of clowns, but I’m not generally actually clown phobic. These clowns are sort of freaking me out. The clothes are pretty though.

    • muzan-e

For the next week I shall be nurturing a small crush on the fellow holding the stepladder.

Try to ignore my wistful, dreamy sighs.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Oh WHY did you have to go and point him out? He’s scrumdiddliumptious.

      • PeaceBang

AW, dang!! I’m right there with you.

      • RebeccaKW

He’s yummy.  Is he the same deliciousness in the pic above that one, with the 2 lady clowns?  When I got to that pic, I didn’t even notice the girls right away, just him…

    • Vaniljekjeks

Love the clothes, HATE the clowns.   Why, Vogue.  Clowns are terrifying.  Everyone knows that.

    • SF_Gal

Ahhh, if only American Vogue could be as thrilling.  I think it takes an actual professional MODEL, not a celebrity to pull off however, so we’ll never know.

    • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986/ Judy S

Great styling on that Martin Margiela pantsuit. Much better than the runway version. That pantsuit really requires a face.

    • http://twitter.com/LianaBrooks Liana Brooks

      Made for the circus.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

Does anyone know which circus they shot this at?

    • serenitynow02

I’m going to have bad dreams tonight.

Love the Dior and the Chanel.

      • rainwood1

        My two favorites as well.

    • nancylee61

One of the Fanning sisters will wear the Elie Saab, I guarantee. And that Dior!! To die!!! Would look great on Ann Hathaway. She is one of the only women tall enough to pull it off.

    • portlandmermaid

Those are some mighty well dressed clowns.

    • boweryboy

      No.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1046681022 Paula Berman

Finally, an editorial that acknowledges that a lot of supposedly haute couture is really clown clothes!

    • ccm800

Hard to tell which are the clothes featured in these and what is up with the lip on the Givenchy model and edit. pic? Is that nose ring or whatever it is part of the gown somehow????

    • crash1212

      STILT WALKER!

    • TieDye64

You’re right, the clothes are beautiful. But, I have a wee bit of a clown phobia so I didn’t dwell.

    • Call me Bee

The clowns are funny, but nothing is as scary as the model in the PJs with no face.  Ew.
But that Dior gown is..To.  Die.  *le sigh*

    • http://twitter.com/marriedkuntz treat yo self

      Amazing

    • ElitheMonkey

The clown styling totally detracts from how gorgeous most of the clothes are (not keen on the camo gown, maybe another color).  Clowns *shudder*

    • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

That Dior makes me weep with happiness.  What a stunning piece it is.
I totally see Rhianna wearing that first Gaultier.
Clowns freak me the fuck out.  I always wonder what kind of predators are lurking underneath that painted on facade.

    • mjude

      love

    • SewingSiren

Clown terror runs in my family. But I like these a lot.

    • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

I love this model! She’s so charming and pulls off the clown make-up with aplomb.

I’m currently really into the turn-of-the-century circus thing, especially with magic, so this was fantastic. Thanks!

      • Sophie Collier

You read “The Night Circus,” yes?

        • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

Not yet, actually. I was supposed to read it for a book club two months ago but there were like 500 holds on 200 copies of it at the NYPL, so I couldn’t get it in time. I’m looking forward to it, though! I need to get to it soon, before this kick goes away.

    • Sophie Collier

      Aaaaaaaaaaaaadorable!

    • KathKo

whenever I see clowns, I can’t help but think back to that one Discworld novel when a clown is murdered so that another one can steal his face to commit a crime while just doing so is indeed a crime.
      I so love my Pratchett…
Ok, no point with that spread but still, clowns, yikes…

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

That foofy red floral dress!!! Such a ridiculous confection, I must have it!

    • sk8tfan

Pennywise in tulle. Great, now I need Ambien. Except once I nod off Freddy will get me for sure.

    • Neverbuynewclothes

Access to pictures like these is one of the reasons I check into your site, cher TLo, almost every day.  Seeing something so different is stimulating to the creative juices, giving me the inspiration to, oh, say, do the laundry or scrub the kitchen floor, or others of my hobbies.

Kudos to Vogue Paris — but why did they show the clothes in black and white?  The colors on several are the point as much as the styling.

    • http://www.facebook.com/izzzyy Dixie Murphy Ross

Hate clowns, love this shoot. It just looks really, really awesome, with great clothes!

    • Stubenville

Clowns will eat you when you fall asleep.

    • Lisa

You know, I love every single one of these dresses – on the models!  NOT THE CLOWNS!!!  THE CLOWNS ARE COMING TO GET ME! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!

      (*Runs out of the post*)

    • snarkykitten

it looks like The Joker has ventured into fashion…

    • Cat_In_A_Hat

Natasha Poly. Even when she’s surrounded by clowns and contortionists, you can’t take your eyes off her. Love the shot on the trapeze ladder.

    • http://twitter.com/Kikishua CMS

I really love the one with the stiltwalker – particularly for the expression/posture on the model – such a wonderful contrast with the original catwalk.  For some reason I keep going back to that one for another look.  Beautifully dejected shoulders – and the hair is perfect for that dress!

    • guest2visits

Yeah; clowns creep me out. But I wish I could go back in time long enough to wear that coat and gown for a day.
18th Century, maybe. Marie Antionette-like, I think.  And then there’s the beautiful Elie Saab.

    • ASK26

Not phobic of clowns – they just are unattractive and unappealing.  And in this shoot a waste of the clothes

    • OneTwoThreeFashion

afraid if clowns too…… the green versace gown is gorgeous!
