Darlings, we know from Project Runway. And if there’s one thing about Project Runway that is truer than all other things about Project Runway it’s this:

35mm Music Club at the Multikino Złote Tarasy Cinema in Warsaw, Poland designed by Robert Majkut.

A Project Runway finale just wouldn’t be a Project Runway finale without tears, rage and alcohol. Grab a seat.

One thing’s for sure, a Drama Queen is winning tonight. The question is, which Drama Queen? It’s like the Three Faces of Drama Queen up there.

So let’s start drinking and watch the drama unfold, Precious Unborn Fawns! Everyone has to do a shot every time someone cries.

But just to shake things up, let’s not focus on answering the question “Who’s going to win?” Instead:

Whose win would cause you to scream and throw things at your TV in anger and disgust?

There. That oughtta get some arguments started.

If Michael wins, I shall scream.  No caftans!

    • luciaphile

I don’t think you’ll be screaming. There have been rumors all along that this was fixed for Mondo to win. I’m not knocking him as a designer, but that’s what’s been going around on the nets for quite a while.

      • Floyd Thirsby

The rumor, originally from Gawker in Sept. ’11 wasn’t that this fix was in for Mondo to win but that based on leaks from production company Mondo had won.  The fix rumor became widely accepted a few weeks ago because the original Gawker story also indicated that Jerell, then Kenley were the last 2 eliminated and that the final three were Mondo, Michael and Austin.   The full rumor stated Mondo wins, Austin second and Michael third.   The rumor that Gretchen would win (and in fact did) also originated from the production company.

The “fix” rumors are a combination of 2 things – first, knowledge of the outcome from the Gawker leak and second, bitterness that Rami or Austin of Kenley or whomever your fave was, didn’t win.

        • Glammie

No, the original spoiler did have it as a fix and said the designers were angry about it.

          • Floyd Thirsby

If Mondo was a fix, please tell me where and when he should have been eliminated.  To call something a fix after you know the results is just sour grapes.

          • BuffaloBarbara

Just because it was fixed doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve to win it.  It just means that there was no chance of anything else happening.

          • Pcatt

I think he should have been eliminated after he made the potato sack dress for the
            Nanette Lepore challenge.

          • Glammie

No.  *I* didn’t say it was fixed.  I said the original spoiler said it was fixed.  You claimed it didn’t say that, but it did back on Sept. 15.

            ————————–
”Our tipster says the plan was to hand it to him all along, and that angered the other designers, including Mondo, but he took the win nonetheless.
            ——————————————
How can you read that as anything, BUT a fix?

As for the other part of your query–if you want to fix a competition, you make sure you get rid of the competitors who had the chops to show strong collections–i.e. Rami and Mila.  It’s frankly just strange how many times the erratic Jerrell was saved or that Michael is in the finale over Mila or even Kenley.

Also make sure the producer’s wife is one of the judges.

And, personally, I’d have tossed Mondo for the challenge where his dress looked like it had been made of table mats.

          • mrspeel2

I guess I missed something, somewhere along the line! Who’s the producer’s wife?

          • Glammie

Georgina Chapman is married to Harvey Weinstein whose company owns Project Runway.

          • mrspeel2

Oh; I didn’t know that. Thank you Glammie!

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_H3XBSNN3JLZWI4R2EPZ2BQYT5U Suzanne S

That’s interesting if it’s true-especially the part about Mondo being angry as well-it might explain some of his tension and restlessness and (seeming) general unhappiness with coming back on the show. It does kind of fit, when I think about it a certain way.

          • Glammie

Well, everything factual in the spoiler was accurate–who the final five were and Rami only making it halfway.  Mondo has some pride, I could see him being unhappy about being given a win that might not be totally legit.  He comes off as an essentially honest and honorable person, so the fix could make him unhappy–and, yet–he’d still want the win and the money.

          • patticake1601

Its a “reality” show on Lifetime. Petal, everything is fixed on this show.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MNMVM2GPVUEIOJXBOSLCXKAW4U judy brown

Just saw the runway, and frankly, it does look like Mondo for the win.

Austin’s was kicky — for Austin — but still familiar-looking. Michael’s “tribal” caftans and jumpsuits, nothing new there.

Despite his whining, even in this episode, Mondo’s was the freshest, most interesting, the only collection to look like something we haven’t seen before, but we’d buy in a heartbeat.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MNMVM2GPVUEIOJXBOSLCXKAW4U judy brown

Except I don’t get the red dress.

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MNMVM2GPVUEIOJXBOSLCXKAW4U judy brown

            Called it.

          • Glammie

Right, Mondo was the strongest designer left, but that’s different than his being the strongest designer in the overall competition.  I’d have been interested in seeing collections by Rami, Mira, Kenley and even April.

        • Rroxy

The thing is, if Mondo has been chose to win from the beginning, or just about, isn’t it sort of an apology for giving Gretchen a truly undeserved win in Season 8? And production companies as a rule just don’t admit they messed up.

          • Glammie

But remember, the judge’s split on Mondo and Gretchen–Kors pushed it to Gretchen.  So, it’s not admission of wrongdoing by the production company.  When they did the mini All Stars, they gave the win to Daniel Vosovic, who’d had a great season but an awkward finale collection.  It didn’t come off as the first judges were wrong as much as Daniel was living up to his potential.

          • BuffaloBarbara

While it wouldn’t bother me to see Mondo win–I like both of them–fixing a competition is just not a good idea.  Giving a second chance, via All-Stars, is more than enough.  It could have been unrigged from then on, and he could quite conceivably still have won.

          • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

I think pretty much everyone believed this was Mondo’s to lose, and I think he would have had to screw up royally to do so. But if this was fixed, it wasn’t any more fixed than last season. Not saying it’s right, because it’s not. But no one will ever convince me that Anya’s win wasn’t predetermined.

          • BuffaloBarbara

Yeah, that was fixed, too, and I’m not sure why they feel the need to fix it.  If the person they want to win is the best person to win, then the person will win on merits anyway, unless they screw up royally.  But the royal screw-up needs to be a possibility.  It makes for a better narrative if there’s actually a chance for the favored one not to win.

          • Glammie

Yep.  Back on Bravo, it’s pretty clear that the show wasn’t fixed.  Sometimes boring people won.  Sometimes a guy who hadn’t won a single challenge won. Sometimes the person everyone hated won.  And sometimes the fan favorite won.

With Anya, I think the producers decided about a third of the way in that they wanted her to win–she was appealing, telegenic and had survived the first couple of challenges.  After that, they did a couple of painfully obvious work-arounds to keep her from falling.  I *don’t* think the judges were actually completely in on it, which is why the contriving was so painfully obvious.  She can’t sew–make sure Burt helps her.  She lost her fabric, add an extra $50 to the challenge.  Her finale collection’s a mess–throw some more money at everyone.

Count on the Duchess’s jealousy of younger gay men to keep him from handing things over to Victor, put pressure on the other two who are more financially dependent on the success of PR.

Reward Tim for his bending over by letting him have a little moment where he lets us all know what we know, which is that the fourth-place finisher had the real winning collection.

        • Sweetbetty

I never heard about any leaks but with this and other such shows I am more amazed that there aren’t leaks about who the winner is than that there are.  I mean, surely the finalists’ immediate family knows the outcome and even if they’re sworn to secrecy and have every intention of keeping that secret it’s just so easy for something to slip and for it to find its way to the wrong ears.  Same thing with the production people; no matter how hard a group of people try to keep a secret they’re all human and given the amount of time from when the winner is chosen to when it’s finally revealed it’s just amazing more isn’t leaked, inadvertently or not.

          • fashionablylate

I completely agree, I’ve scoured the internet in the past looking for any little tidbit about who may be the winner of a given reality show, and rarely have I found anything of substance. In this age of instant communication, people sure can keep secrets when they want to.

          • buttmunchdisqusgeek

Folks, remember that Cast and Crew sign multi-million dollar Non-Disclosure Agreements, and yes, from previous TV shows those people HAVE BEEN SUED.  Television Game Shows, like Project Runway, are governed by the same rules as Twenty-One, Joker’s Wild, and other gamed television.  People can keep these particular secrets because they don’t want Harvey’s (and B-M and Lifetime’s) law-talking dudes calling them up.

        • ccm800

           correct. Well stated.

      • m0r0

My feeling was that they did this to crown Austin Queen of the Hill.
But at least he’s talented if annoying to view on television.
Michael winning would fix my mouth agape.
Mondo winning would make me happy.
At least it isn’t Anya or Gretchen. Blech.

      • http://janitesonthejames.blogspot.com/ Vic

Well, Mondo did not rock. His collection was rather predictable. I did not like.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OD35QQZNBPZJXWTCBY7N4EE7VY Sarah

“Whose win would cause you to scream and throw things at your TV in anger and disgust?”

    No doubt about it: Michael.

    • http://janitesonthejames.blogspot.com/ Vic

      Agree

    • nosniveling

      x3

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

If Michael wins I will be tempted to throw things. He doesn’t annoy me as much as when he was on the show before, but I honestly don’t understand why he gets so much praise for some of the things he makes.

(I’m much more excited about Community tonight!)

    • Jenna Kuhmann

Agreed!  So glad Community is back.  So much more entertaining then PR, anyways.

    • Pannyx

      Yay for Community!!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

He annoys me as much. I abhor his caftanery. I just found out not long ago that my best friend likes him, and I can only attribute that to the fact that we are not roommates anymore and she has not had my cutting wisdom every Thursday night to enlighten her as to what a clearly fake and insincere person he is. I also am shocked to find that I rather dislike Mondo’s personality, after all. Austin may not deserve the win, but at least he has been civil and reasonable the whole time.

      • VanessaDK

I swear Lifetime wants us all to dislike Mondo just to say “See?  you thought Gretchen was a *****, and Mondo an angel–well, here you go…”

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Ah, that seems likely, now that you put it that way.

  • Jasmaree

I don’t really care enough for PR to get incredibly angry anymore. The entire series just doesn’t seem worth it. I would be annoyed if Michael C. won though. He’s the least innovative of the three. It would be like another Anya win.

    • ShivaDiva

This!  I can’t work up much actual rage over this show any more, but Michael winning would be unspeakably silly.

    • TieDye64

Yes, exactly. I can only work up enough energy for a “meh”. If not for T Lo I wouldn’t even remember the show is on. I’ll watch it when the episode is online. If I don’t forget. Meh.

    • Tigerfly

They say the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s apathy… I think a lot of us are there…

  • Sue_Asponte

Ach, wait, I’m confused. Tivo ate last weeks’ ep, so I didn’t see it, but I thought IT was the finale. What happened last week? I understand from last week’s post that it was two hours of worthless whining (so, thank you Tivo!), but was there no advancement of… anything?

    • Jasmaree

      “What happened last week?”

      Absolutely nothing.

They have to make 6 looks (the 6th one made out of scraps from previous challenges) in 4 or 5 days. Now you’re pretty much up to speed.

      • Sue_Asponte

Thank you all, this is very helpful! I only regret I missed Mila. And disappointed no one asked Kenley. She came out surprisingly competent and delightful this go-round, I thought. I’d like to see a finale with Mila, Kenley and April. Nuts to BM.

    • Pannyx

It was only the first hour of the two-hour two-part finale.  It was just setting up what exactly the final challenge would be. Which was to make a 5 look collection in five days. Then they added that they had to make another look with the left over fabric from all the previous challenges. Mostly though it was just Mondo being kind of a little snot about how he wasn’t inspired and some made up drama about who always gets to pick first.

    • Call me Bee

What they said–plus the finalists got to choose a helper from the schmaufed designers to help with the last challenge.  Austin picked Antonthy (who was totally hysterical!) Michael had April and Mondao had…um… I don’t remember.  Oh–Mila.

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

    Noon to Michael…rooting for Austin

  • annrr

Michael. I am still all About Austin for the win.

  • michelle shields

I just took a muscle relaxer so I really don’t care who wins anymore

    • BrooklynBomber

Whatever it takes to get you through, right?

      • michelle shields

        “shrugs”

        • Greg Yoder

So, your muscles aren’t *that* relaxed, right?

          • Lisa

I see what you did there…

          • michelle shields

yeah they are. i didn’t feel a thing

    • Sweetbetty

Don’t get in the bathtub.  I just read that Whitney Houston had a muscle relaxer, as well as several other pharmaceuticals, in her system when she drowned.

      • michelle shields

I’m not a cokehead like she was and I’m not that stupid

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4CGGJGJKCS7YDL6VFESBKJKRH4 Happy1

Yeah, she did. But she also had Xanax, Benadryl, marijuana, and a blown out coke heart. Any of these added w/ each other was heading down an easy-bake recipe for disaster. That woman knew how to walk the edge, until she didn’t.

    • hac51

       Me too.  *high five*

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

The first thing I think of when I hear “muscle relaxer” is the loopy bride in “Sixteen Candles”. Classic.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4CGGJGJKCS7YDL6VFESBKJKRH4 Happy1

When I think of the loopy bride from 16 Candles and her several muscle relaxers, all I can see is that Lana Del Rey girl that sings that “Video Games” song and her over-inflated lips and morgue-like persona.

        • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

I like that song, so I have been careful to stay away from any videos or live performances. Don’t want my song ruined for me. :)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_64HSRZWCSJ5RBFGCWDLFQOICYM G

If Austin wins, I can’t wait to see the quivering and fluttering and fanning … I think a Mondo win will be the “manliest” and that other quivering daddy, Michael,  well, a win by him would cause me to scream.

  • Pupioso

I shall not scream at all. I might “meh” though…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Josefina-Madariaga-Suárez/100002964685796 Josefina Madariaga Suárez

At this point, if Austin doesn’t get the win (and I’m afraid that the judges won’t give it to him), I would throw my TV through my window.

  • tallgirl1204

I feel sad saying this:  I don’t really care who wins.  Personality-wise, I kinda like Austin.  Fashion-wise, my heart collapsed when Mila got booted for an ugly-pretty dress that was at least interesting.  (Anyone notice Shelly O in color blocking the other day?)  I’m depending on your re-cap to tell me whether I should bother to watch it on hulu later…

  • Zippypie

At this point, I’m all about the booze.  Bring on the Patron and line up the shots with some juicy limes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mary.nease Mary Nease

Ew, Michael. Austin at least cares about real women and Mondo’s design are usually so fun. The fashion industry is already filled to capacity with Michaels who make clothes that only about 1% of the female population can wear. Occupy the Runway! 99% represent! (Sorry, it had to be done.)

  • MilaXX

Micheal would surprise me, but I’m over this season. Give it to Mondo, give it to Austin, don’t care. Playing with paper lashes for the premiere.

  • http://ficklekitsch.blogspot.com Jennifer Zowie

Michael. I found him more likeable this time around than his first go, but he is tacky tacky tacky. Caftans and pageant dresses are not the designs of a PR All Star!

  • NDC_IPCentral

Finale probably will be a bit of a let-down, but then again, last week was a waste of 60 minutes, so at least there’ll be finality tonight.  And, tears and draH-MAH for sure.  I’m tepidly rooting for Mondo, but certainly not plumping for waterworks Mikey.

Beer for me (some hydration for tomorrow’s chemo, eh?) tonight at chez NDC, though I can dream I was sipping cosmos in Warsaw on this too-warm day in March.

And just think, Bitter Kittens, poodles, unborn fawns, minions et al., from the ridiculous (tonight) to the sublime in three nights – Sunday 9PM EDT, the two-hour premiere of Mad Men.  Why, that’s making me feel better already.

    All the best,

    NDC

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Sending you good thoughts for tomorrow, NDC!

    • girliecue

I’ll be happy to drink a Cosmo on your behalf, NDC_IPCentral. Here’s to you and your (soon to be) good health!

    • Lisa

Sending you TONS of good thoughts and healing prayers, NDC!  How are you feeling?

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Adding my good thoughts for you, NDC!

      • NDC_IPCentral

Hi, Lisa and bitchybitchybitchy -  Today – the 6th day from my 1st chemo cycle – I felt pretty good.  More energy, very manageable queasiness, and similarly manageable belly pain.  My gynecologist told me today that I just have to expect that given that I am being pumped full of poisons to attack the bad stuff.  I’m embracing that pain because I’m regarding it as the battle being waged.

What I’ve experienced the past 7 days is a pattern of steroid high right after the infusion (they’re part of the pre-meds administered at each infusion), then a gradual slide to feeling lousy over the next days.  I think Wednesdays will be my low points, but the plateaus will keep adjusting to lower levels as the chemo course proceeds through the nine weeks.

I don’t want to hi-jack the Lounge for my particular real life crisis, and I’m grateful to T Lo for their generous understanding and, of course, to all of you in our T Lo community who have been so kind and supportive.  Everyone’s comments have been real picker-uppers.  Thanks so, so much.

        • formerlyAnon

          Go YOU.

    • Call me Bee

Good luck tomorrow–sending hopes of a good outcome…So Mad Men starts up SUnday again?  Do you think I can get through all 5 (or is it 6) previous seasons before then?

      • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

Make the effort. It’s worth it.

      • NDC_IPCentral

Four seasons so far, Bee.  I’m going to indulge in a Mad Men DVD watching marathon Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday, Sunday afternoon, too.  Watch what you can, and then revel in the 1960s on Sunday night!

      • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Yes! Subscribe to Netflix just to watch it streaming. And then come back here for the recaps! Enhances the experience so much! It’s a shame the comments from the original posts didn’t transfer over when TLo got this shiny new website, because those were just as good if not better than the recaps themselves.

    • roscit

NDC – sending u lots of light. Just think about anthony, he will make you smile.

I would toss cookies if michael won.

I love austin. He is a dear man. He is genteel, even when swearing.
I would have loved to see him win.

I DO wish Rami had stayed in, if only for the eye candy… YUMMY!

  • Rzldzl122

Can Austin get rid of that centipede on his lip? THAT makes me want to scream and throw things at the TV.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

He did shave for last week’s episode. I don’t know why he has that mustache again in the previews for this week. Either he grows a hell of a fast mustache, or there is time tomfoolery going on.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

His mustache does seem to come and go – what the hell is going on there?

        • melizer

“Errol Flynn to Kermit the Frog” lol! :)

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

Haha. I don’t know, maybe it’s spirit gum and faux hair? That seems unlikely, given his impeccable grooming habits. I think that Mondo dislikes Austin so very much because he is much surer of himself and seems to have a decent level of aplomb. Mondo is a self-hater with no tolerance for any of life’s bumps in the road, so he goes ahead and calls him a Kermit when he isn’t even green! :)

        • Girl_With_a_Pearl

          Crappy editing.

  • http://twitter.com/PhDKnitter marlie

Michael’s win would cause me to scream and yell and throw things at my TV in anger and disgust. Seriously. I can’t believe he made it this far. He’s a one-trick pony (more so than the others).

  • Jenna Kuhmann

Michael.  Hands down.  I’m all for Austin taking the crown, though Mondo is certainly going to be quite pissy if he doesn’t win.

  • Jase37206

Michael C would make me scream. The rumor mill has that it is another upset. So to me that means Michael. I would be bummed when it is clearly Mondo. He is the most relevant designer, they have built the show around him this season, and he just plain ole deserves it. Austin is talented but he def should be designing costumes for movie sets. That just suits him better, I do not feel he will ever be designing clothes that women will buy right now or in the future.

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Well I would want to say Michael, but who knows? Sometimes he puts great stuff out there, better than the others. I shall judge them on their actual work. I feel like Kenley should have been in the final 3, but not by much, really. I do like Mondo best but sometimes he puts out crap, so we’ll see…..

  • Sarah Kuntsal

Michael for sure. If he wins, I will be throwing things. He’s talented, but not quite on the level of the other two.  And the other two are just so much more dramatic and fun to watch.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NMLK23QK6C7NMLMVVYA5POXKJY WhiteMage

mondo. i’m really sick of him. he’s killed all my sympathy this season. take it home, austin. take it home.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

      Right on!

    • Lisa

Oh, god, I hope you’re right!  I don’t think you are (I think the fix is in), but I’d be so happy if you were.

  • MoHub

I almost wish Michael would/did win. In a lot of ways, I think he would benefit more from the learning experience.

    • siriuslover

OMG thank you so much for saying this.  I LOVE all three for different reasons. I’m one of those people who never really had too much of a problem with Michael either in his season or this. The only really cringe worthy moments for me was his meltdown when he was aufed in his season and a couple of his belly button baring clothes. But he has his own (rather successful) business. Last week, my son and I were comparing who we wanted to win and we were going back and forth between Mondo and Austin. Then I said, well, what about Michael? He seems to be the most consistent this season and might actually work very well with Joanna.

  • rainwood1

My answer to the question of the day is “None of them”  I don’t care enough about PR to get all worked up anymore.  I’d like to twirl around and spill my drink in those egg chairs though.

My plan is once again to draft off all you East Coasters and see who wins.  If by some miraculous chance in hell, it’s Austin, I’ll watch.  Otherwise, I will remain MIA for the finale of Project Mondo and will stick to my real estate porn show “Selling NY.’  Thanks again to all you East Coast bitter kittens willing to sacrifice themselves so I don’t have to.  You’re the best!

    • Lisa

Chiming in from Queens, NY here – I’d be happy to post and let you know if I can find your post again once it’s over!  But you’ll probably hear from other east coasters before me. :-)

  • Margaret Chess

Most definitely Michael.  I would be happy with Mondo or Austin winning I think.  But Michael?  That would be it for me — time to scream for sure.

  • FunButNutz

I predicted on day 1.  Austin for runner up and Mondo for the win (I had Rami in third….so at least that part was wrong)

  • carolclark12

No one, unless Austin does more of that blue flowy chiffon mess.  Of course, I want Mondo to win.

  • velomango

I’m going to wait and see what the final collections look like. All of them are drama’ed out bellyachers at this point, so I’m fine with any of them winning and the rest losing. As TLo have been pointing out for a while now, PR is hardly about the fashion anymore. So, I’ll hope that the one with the best final collection wins. I too was miffed when Mondo lost to she-who-shall-not-be-named a few seasons ago. But he has since succumbed to the treachery that is Burnham Murray with his contemptible grousing and overall lack of verve, so alas, my fellow TLo minions – does it really matter? (yes, I’m hoping it does, but pessimism has taken over at this point)

  • QJ321

Michael winning would annoy me because I think he shouldn’t have even made it to the end.   I’d like Austin to win, and by that I mean I’d like him to show an awesome collection that lives up to his potential.  But I wouldn’t be upset with a Mondo won if his collection warrants the win.  He is talented, even though he wasn’t much fun to watch and was hard to listen to the last few episodes.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

none of em. i like them all okay.
whats making me wanna throw things in disgust is the abovenoted bar in poland being described as designed by someone contemporary. i’m too tired today, i think, to post a list of links to verner panton [etc & ect] but, oh, wow. consider me virtually rending.

    • Stubenville

It’s kind of pathetic how much “modern” furniture was designed 40, 50 or even 80 (le Cotbusier) years ago.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

I think that’s mostly due to the fact that people interchange the terms ‘modern’ and ‘contemporary’ (and I am definitely a culprit as well). Contemporary always means NOW, whereas modern is actually referencing a specific time in writing, art, etc. Heard of Postmodern? That was after (obviously) and the cultural and literary theorists are all in a tizzy about whether we’re still in the postmodern age, or have moved into the post-postmodern age. I think they just don’t like the name of the latter ha. Sorry for the random interjection, had a professor go on and on about it once in my college years….

        • siriuslover

ha ha, that could’ve been me!

  • formerlyAnon

Michael’s clearly been the weakest link but neither Mondo nor Austin has done so stunningly well that their body of work should determine a damn thing. Whomever makes the best collection, based on the criteria they were given ought to win. My inclination leans to Austin, but I’m open to Mondo out-doing him, because he could.

    edited to fix stray punctuation

Nobody’s going to get me screaming. Maybe a bitter grumble if Mondo underperforms and gets the win anyway.

  • SewingSiren

I think it’s going to be a good show. I’ve been hoping for ologies to happen, because the overall output for the season was pretty interesting. I think Mondo will win of course. They really didn’t have to rig it to make that happen. Too bad they did.

  • BrooklynBomber

I’ll be surprised if Michael wins (in fact, I’ll be surprised if he isn’t the first eliminated because I believe it has been preordained, even if it nobody says it out loud), but I won’t be upset.  I think all three finalists have the potential to work in the fashion industry in some way, and that of the three, Mondo probably has the most potential to do something special. All three have all shown some good work and some clunkers this season, and I don’t really care who wins.

  • dress_up_doll

I just can’t summon up enough emotion to feel anger, disgust or rage. While I’ve enjoyed some of the challenges, I’ve also been bored and disappointed. So, to answer the question, I’ll say, Michael. Just give the win to Mondo and let’s call it a night.

  • Imasewsure

    Gretchen for the win! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I’ll watch it tonight but no more PR for me unfortunately… I’m over it (but I will read all the TLo posts of course – just like the A List!)

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

      Oh, Gretchen…

  • Call me Bee

Well of course I silk throw a genuine hissy fit if Michael wins! I would be happiest with an Austin win. I’he always liked him the best.
Please I’ll have a double dry Stolid martini straight up with two olives. I have a feeling I’ll need the hard stuff tonight…
(If I play yhd crying game with vodka, though,I’ll be under the table before the first 15 minutes is done…

    • Lisa

I’m with you – rooting for my Austin, but I think Michael winning would piss me off the most.  But I think Mondo’s got this bitch.

  • girliecue

A shot every time someone cries? I’ll be passed out long before they announce the winner. Count me in.

    • Lisa

I can’t WAIT to be shit-faced by 9:15 PM EST!  Whoot!

    • SouthernGirlRena

That is what I was thinking.  Someone will have to be in charge of going around and checking all the eggs to make sure everyone who passed out at least has a blanket for the night.

  • Anathema_Device

This franchise has sucked all the caring out of me. I will not have fit or be elated when the outcome is announced. Isn’t that sad? Right now I’m kind of pulling for Austin, but I have always pretty much been team Mondo.

I love those pod chairs in the lounge. I sat in one in an interior design store in SF. Surprisingly comfortable.

    • Joe J

Every time I see those chairs, all I can think of is Ann-Margret drunkenly singing and spinning around in one of them right before her TV douses her with a tidal wave of baked beans.

      Topic?  Michael, without a doubt.

      • Anathema_Device

Dear god, I love a Tommy reference.

When Roger Daltrey  first appears on screen as grown-up Tommy, I had my first “Oh, that’s what it feels like to have really impure thoughts about someone” moment, I was in 6th grade and I had crushes before, but this was something new.

        • Joe J

A fun little drinking game we had in college was watching “Tommy” on movie night with at least one person who’d never seen it before, and the rule was you had to take a shot every time that person blurted out “What the fuck/hell/shit?!” at what’s going on.  The beans always, always, ALWAYS got a shot, and Elton John’s scene (cripes, those BOOTS) usually burned half a bottle of vodka, too.

          • Anathema_Device

That’s fantastic. I was 11 when I saw it in the theater. My mouth was agape the entire time.

          • Call me Bee

Oh my gosh that made me laugh!  I remember watching that movie for the first time (after having the album for years and knowing every single note!) and saying What the —??!?!  about a thousand times.

          • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

            You are awesome.

You know me, I want my beloved Austin to win.  But since it’s obvious they only had this season to give a win to that pissy little cloud of doom, Mondo, I’m not going to be happy.  If my Austin wins, I’ll be the happiest one here, y’all know that.  But I don’t think so.  I remain a pre-bitter kitten, Kittens.

  • http://oshunanat.livejournal.com/ Carrie

At this point I’m actually rooting for Austin. Michael is clearly the odd man out here and I am so tired of Mondo and his whining. Austin is a diva, but he can also be quite gracious. Go Austin!

  • Presumptuous Insect

I would like it if Austin won. I kinda like him and think he handled himself with dignity. How often can you say that about a reality show contestant?

I like Michael, too, and would be surprised and chuffed if he won. At least, I hope he gets a call from Diane von F at some point.

I suppose Mondo will win. If that happens, I am just gonna role my eyes and cringe at the contortions the judges go through in order to make that happen.

  • Stubenville

Whose win would cause you to scream and throw things at your TV in anger and disgust?  Anya or Gretchen.

My hope for the outcome this evening is Mondo #1, Austin #2 and Michael #3.

    • melizer

      I second this wholeheartedly.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OLSER5H3A6FPBAZOEIQIOBHAYM Elizabeth Rust

Prior to the last couple of episodes, my answer would have been “Michael”, but since then I’ve been tempted to switch to Mondo as the throw-the-remote candidate. While I thought he was robbed in his season, I have not been impressed with his work this time, and that fuggly-beyond-belief wide-bars-of-mismatched-fabric dress that he was given a *win* for {sigh} put him on my don’t-love-you-anymore list.

But the way the season has gone, I really don’t have the energy to throw things no matter who wins – er, unless the garment(s) that they win *for* are clearly less worthy than those of the others, which is entirely possible. So I guess I’ll put the breakables away just in case!

  • Jess5628

If Michael wins I’ll be upset, if Mondo wins I’ll be meh, and if Austin wins I’ll be bananas!

  • Rroxy

Michael C. who else? Even though Mondo’s been a bit of a douche, I still like his stuff. But I would love Austin to win.

  • Eclectic Mayhem

    Michael.

I’ve stopped watching but I’m still, essentially, Team Mondo.

    Greetings all!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1380079551 Marie Dees

I’ve always been an Austin fan. Hoping he wins. I’d be okay with Mondo. He does have talent, though he’s been whiny lately. If Michael wins, I’m auditioning for the next season of PR based on my experience making my bedsheet into a wedding dress by tying it around my neck at age 8.

  • Spicytomato1

I don’t have enough passion for this go-round to throw things at my screen if the top designer is robbed. And by “top designer” I think I mean Austin but I can’t even muster any certainty about that.

Plus I’m still recovering from my disgust and anger over Anya’s win.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tiyuju Yuju Ti

    Michael C.
The sad thing is although I know there is a 90% chance they will give the win to Michael and make me angry, I still want to watch it. I hate myself for that.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

And nothing says fashion forward to Marie Claire readers than a caftan pooling about their feet…..and yes, I’ll still watch but I will either hit the mute button or turn the volume way down so that I don’t wake my husband with my screamed obscenities if Michael wins….

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

I’ve been so disappointed to find out how much of a whiny bitch Mondo is. He had us all on his side because we were all too busy hating Gretchen, only to find out he’s no angel himself! Micheal C. is, of course, also a whiny bitch, and a fake one at that– much worse. I would love to see Austin win because he seems the most genuine, but I have a feeling its going to be Mondo.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=22917995 Nicole Renee

Frankly the only person who’s win would NOT cause me to throw shit at the TV is Austin.  If Mondo wins, it will seem like this whole “All-Stars” thing was done more or less to give him the win he deserved in his season.  Gag.  If Michael wins…  GAG. So spare me the nausea, PR!!

    (Yeah, right.)

    • SewingSiren

But there is a pretty good chance the Mondo will have the best collection.

    • SewingSiren

But there is a pretty good chance the Mondo will have the best collection.

      • Stubenville

Yes, Mondo will probably have the most modern collection based on the peeks we saw in the workroom.

      • formerlyAnon

And it’s o.k. by me if I don’t actually think his is the best and he wins – all I ask is that it’s good enough that I can see the validity of the argument for him.

  • WritingWonder

Well…lemme see. I think Michael winning would Make Me CRAY-CRAY-CRAZY!!!

Second worse will be when Mondo the whiner wins.  I’m sure he’s set up to be the winner. But he doesn’t deserve it.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WKSM57KFWUGRMKPDUW4SPL3GDM Kathryn

I don’t know why everyone dislikes Michael so much.  Makes me sad.  He seems like a really great guy.

    • melizer

I don’t dislike any of them!

    • http://oshunanat.livejournal.com/ Carrie

I don’t dislike Michael, but he doesn’t really have the design or technical abilities of the other two. That’s why I don’t want him to win :)

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I don’t dislike Michael particularly; he’s a very competent dressmaker, I just don’t find his POV particularly original

    • fridacormorant

He may be a saint incarnate.  But he lacks mad skilz.  Both Austin and Mondo have at least once demonstrated brilliance.

    • Call me Bee

It’s not that he is disliked–in fact–he seems fairly nice.  But he seems to be starved for attention and I don’t think his desgns are anything special.  I want the Next Great American Designer to come up with something new and forward, and Michael makes clothing that I can design and make.  And I’m a middle-aged lady from flyover country.

  • WritingWonder

OK…did anyone notice that that freakish 24-Hour Runway show just disappeared?

Instead of showing it after the after show program, they’re re-running the finale.

    • patitasdeplata

NO!!!!!!! I love that freakish show!  I love the teams of sewers. NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Stubenville

        No JustRamona? WTF???

      • holdmewhileimnaked

if you pronounce sewers the other way i think you get the conduit through which the piles of what has become of PR has been teeming this, last, & the previous season.

        edited for style. twice.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Michael, hands down. Either Austin or Mondo is fine with me, but I distrust the demonic forces at Bunim/Murray. That’s why I will be swathed in cotton batting with oversize oven mitts on my hands during the final judging…if I haven’t drunk myself into a stupor before then….

  • patitasdeplata

I don’t know Mondo and I don’t know what kind of person he is – whiny, scared, kind, sweet, whatever. All we know is what has been edited for us to see in the PR All Stars “package.” Same with Austin, same with Michael. I’m deeply curious how each of their nearest and dearest would describe them as people. I only started taking this “one step away from believing” stance since the disastrous Wretched Gretchen season. That one destroyed my ability to suspend belief and play along. I watched the Anya Season and was horrified, and became a PR Atheist. There is nothing there to believe in. Not one thing. Nevertheless, I am wondering how the scut on the street and on the internets has become certainty that PRAS is a set up job in Mondo’s favor. Beyond a couple of odd wins – I loved the stripe dress but I know a lot of you didn’t – what evidence is there that genuinely hints at a faked competition? PS If Michael wins I won’t throw anything. It’s just stupid tv show. But why did they get rid of Mila when they did? Why did Jerrell last so long? Why did Kenley last so long?

I guess it’s possible that BM thinks our collective mean IQ is about 68 and we will swallow anything they dish up. I’m over it. My new fave is 24 Hour Catwalk. No troublesome loyalties to carry over from week to week.

    • melizer

      Excellent!  I agree.

      • patitasdeplata

Possibly they think we have managed to install TVs up in the trees where we still live. . .

    • bitchybitchybitchy

My highly biased perception of B/M’s thoughts on the IQ of their audience is that they think our knuckles are barely above the ground.

      • holdmewhileimnaked

bingo. so i dont watch it any more.
i wouldnt talk down to anyone. i dont want anyone talking down to me. or anyone else, for that matter.

    • CozyCat

I have also become a fan of 24 hour catwalk.  And, have you noticed, the clothes they produce are (sometimes) pretty good?

  • BuffaloBarbara

I don’t think your alternate question is going to be very controversial. A Michael C win would be up there with the really, really bad decisions they’ve made.  A Michael C presence in the finale already is.  That should be Kenley up there.

My problem with Mondo vs. Austin is that their styles are so radically different, the only comparison (unless one of them has a total breakdown and sends his clothes out held together with Scotch tape) will be, “What do I feel like at the moment?”  If they feel Mondo-ish, which they will, Mondo will win.  On the off-chance that they feel more Austin-ish, Austin will win.

  • benjamin478

michael castello needs to not win.

  • Linderella

I’m so beat down by this season I haven’t the strength to throw anything at the screen.  But of course Michael’s win would cause me the most eyebrow-raising, though his personality bothers me least.  Quite frankly between Austin’s dramatic pearl-clutching (pull that stick out of your ass, Grandma) and Mondo’s self-involved whining (I caaaan’t design anything everrrr agaaaaain), I’ve come to dislike them both equally.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Michael, hands down, to make me scream, cry and throw breakables. Gimme a viskey, ginger ale on the side. And don’t be stingy, baby.

    • WritingWonder

I assume you don’t mean stingy with the ginger ale! Let’s pull out a nicely aged bottle and split it as Mondo is shown overcoming all his self-inflicted drama to snatch the win someone who probably deserves it more.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

That works for me. Line it up!

    • fridacormorant

      Garbo speaks!

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I KNEW someone here would get that quote!

  • WritingWonder

You know, I’m watching the rerun of last week’s “pre-finale” program and I don’t think it had quite sunk into my consciousness last week what a totally whiny, immature BRAT Mondo was.

I sure wish they’d give it to Austin, but of course this is their excuse to reward Mondo.
But seriously…who puts out a WEDDING DRESS in 4 days–while designing a bunch of other outfits too??  Austin, that’s who. the scope of that just takes my breath away.

  • Lisa

Sorry to go back to last week, but I was so discouraged, I didn’t watch, so I’m catching the Part 1 right now.  And honestly, as much as I adored Mondo during season 8, I can’t believe how I’ve come to just despise him this season, particularly with how he’s treating Austin.  Jesus, what a pissy, obnoxious little bitch!  It’s clear he doesn’t like Austin, which I don’t even get, but okay – Austin may not be everyone’s cup of tea.  But how can Mondo be that fucking rude to the guy constantly?  It’s not like Mondo has the most stress in this competition – they’re all on even footing, so he just needs to shut it.  Mr. “I’m So Much More Creative Than You So I Have A Right to Be a Jerk To Everyone.”

EDIT: Okay, I just watched the model casting. I’ve officially just said “Go fuck yourself, Mondo” about five times in the past five minutes. Done with him. Mondo is officially the one I’d throw the remote over if he wins. Which he will, so it looks like I’m throwing the remote. Asshole.

  • melizer

I stand mostly alone, but I feel such sympathy for Mondo watching this rerun.  I’d feel like such a caged rat in there, sequestered from any inspiration, the pressure of everyone expecting you to win, having to perform on demand like a monkey.  It doesn’t really matter the others handle it better outwardly, sometimes crabby just courses through your veins.  It’s okay to need to remove yourself and be alone, but there was nowhere for him to go.  It just doesn’t make “fun” tv, it makes me a little stressed even just to watch it!

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

A big fat YES to everything you said.

    • Spicytomato1

I hear you and I’m with you…except that he didn’t have to agree to do this.

  • Sara__B

There will be no screaming or throwing things here, because I honestly don’t care who wins. (If the winning collection is clearly worse than the other two, I’ll be annoyed. For a few minutes.)

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

My feelings exactly. I have only watched through the season out of habit and the need to know what y’all are talking about the next day. I no longer have an emotional attachment to PR or any of its offspring.

BTW, odd how no one has mentioned Fashion Star.

      • Sweetbetty

I’ve been waiting for a mention of Fashion Star, too.  I fell asleep about five minutes into it but I heard from a Facebook friend that little Oscar was tossed off.  Yay.

  • BrightsideSusan

I have been screaming about Micheal making it through pretty much every week…

  • BethR52

My heart is just not in it.  I’ll wait for the recaps.

  • melizer

I think it’s funny they’re surprised about the “surprise” to make an extra look and bring back a helper.

    • Lisa

I know, right?  But at least it got us some Anthony – he’s hilarious!

  • WritingWonder

Yeah. And why are they surprised to be asked to do a last minute “extra” look?  They do that every single season?

  • fridacormorant

    No question.  Michael.

  • muzan-e

My mother-in-law’s babysitting tomorrow so that we can go see Hunger Games!!1!

… oh. What, the finale’s tonight?

    I guess I’d forgotten.

    Who’re the finalists, then?

    Oh. That’s right.

Well. Since the Gordana, April, Rami and Mila aufs already used up all my screaming, I suppose I’d muster some slightly disgusted spitting if Michael were to win. I have to qualify this, though: during the previous episode, he showed more grace and common sense than I’ve seen from him in any other episode of anything, period. I learned some respect for the guy last week, and will watch the finale with a sinking certainty that it’ll end with him throwing another wobbly and me unable to like him anymore.

Y’know. A return to the status quo.

I don’t want him to win. The guy’s a dressmaker. Not an innovator and certainly not a designer. He’s an exceedingly good dressmaker and I hope that he makes a long, happy and lucrative career out of it. But dressmaking is not what this show used to be about.

But I really don’t much want Mondo to win, simply because I can’t stand sulky savants.  What, you can’t draw but the professionals you’re collaborating with need you to draw? No worries. Lean on your strengths and work around your weaknesses, because that’s what adults do when they want something enough to actually work for it.  Sulking about something like that – at his age – at this stage of the game? God.

  • melizer

The teaser looks like upcoming humiliation to be heaped upon everyone, for having too little time and in one case working with scraps :(

  • jessieroset

    Michael.  Michael.  Michael.

I’m so nervous to watch tonight.  I feel like this prize actually has the ability to change the winner’s life.  I’ve been an Austin fan since the very beginning and hope that he pulls out the win.  He’s the only one left that truly understands the business and has always had a very clear, defined, and well thought-out point of view.  I do love Mondo’s work but I wish that he would have just won his season (which he deserved to do) so he would not even be here.  I think the modernness of his work might woo the judges this time around.

  • Girl_With_a_Pearl

If I remember this right from the After the Runway Show, I think Mondo explained that during the filming of this season, the reason he was in such a dark place is that right before the filming, he and his partner weren’t getting along and that he and his best friend are no longer friends.  So that explains that.

Austin was talking about his mom financial problems. and we all know about Michael and his family not accepting him from the previous season.  That is all really sad and I do feel sorry for all them.  But…did we know all this stuff back when the show was on Bravo?

  • melizer

Okay. they’re popping champagne on the show, I’m opening a bottle of cava I chilled in the fridge, not because I’m feeling celebratory, but because I need a drink…

    • Lisa

Okay, I’ll give Mondo that one! Begrudgingly, but I’ll give it to him.

  • Katherine Pisarro-Grant

Michael Costello. Definitely. I mean, unless the other two “collections” (if we can even use that word for such a heinous excuse for a final challenge) really fall short. But even so, Michael is totally bland and uninspiring, if a good dressmaker. Give me a hot Austin mess or a Mondo print seizure any day!

  • Gorengirl

I need a kick ass drink or 7…. So How about a double kamikaze with a kamikaze chaser…. Oh, and I if Michael wins Ill vomit on the tv….that beats throwing a shoe…..

Even more ridiculous than last week.

    • BrooklynBomber

Unfortunately, for him, the description wasn’t reflected in the collection. He set the audience up to expect something very dramatic, but that’s not what he showed.

      • Onymous

Yeah I’m not a NYer so I don’t know williamsburg specific but I didn’t really get the hassidic influence, or last weeks Fragonard (aside from maybe the red gown) and not much rockstar either.

        • melizer

Watching the replay, I guess Hasidic = ringlet curls :) lol

          • CarolinLA

I thought the ringlets were from Interview with a Vampire but you’re probably right.

  • Jasmaree

Now Austin’s vision includes vampires. Might as well.

He’s not gonna win. The first two looks were weird and kind of sloppy. The third was boring secretary. The fifth had very few design elements and was ill fitting. And here’s the thing: besides the colors, none of these looks had anything in common. There didn’t seem to be a theme at all. I guess that’s what happens when you have too many ideas for a 6-look collection.

Have to admit though, I love both gowns. Especially the wedding dress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

The secretarial look is ok…until she turns and there’s that bunny tail pouf under the skirt

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

It’s like a way-toned-down version of that ruffled Carrie Bradshaw skirt. (Anyone who’s seen SATC…you know the one.)

  • Gorengirl

Love his long red carpet gown! Id wear that in a minutes- the black and fuschia one

  • lessax3

Austin honey, stick to wedding dresses and gowns.

  • Stubenville

Austin’s styling is cracktastick. The clothes are good but kind of dated looking to my eye.

    • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

His vampire not only borrows clothes from her Hassidic friends, she apparently covets the payos as well.

The hair is so distracting, it took away from the look except for that wedding gown which was spectacular.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

His models look like they’re performing in one of my high school plays. The tacky-looking ringlets! The insanely bright blush!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LGAKNANTSBR3YYEWLZDNT35IIY Whatever

    i love the wedding dress.

    • GenieinTX

Me too.  That dress is gorgeous!

    • dress_up_doll

Yes, his wedding dress was lovely and I’m not into traditional wedding gowns at all. Loved the petals and contrast of black gloves and sash. The rest of his collection…I can’t really remember anything else he showed.

  • melizer

ZOMG!! AFTERSHOW LOOKS UNMISSABLE!!!! lol bwahahaha!

    • melizer

(I think I caught a glimpse of Snidely Whiplash)

  • Lisa

My poor Austin.  The gowns were gorgeous, but the rest was a little hit or miss.  He’s not winning.

Jesus, I hope that after show isn’t as ugly as the preview indicates.  I hope that’s just the editing monkeys fucking with us.

  • http://www.facebook.com/samuel.j.donovan Samuel Joesph Donovan

I’d honestly only like to see Austin win.  The other two are just so GUH.  Especially Michael.

    • Cheri Lee

Yeah, Michael’s was booooooring and Mondo’s looked like Mondo from his season so been there done that!

  • blondie65

oh dear…i love austin…but black & pink & leather?   But I did love his wedding gown…modern & new, but would satisfy those wanting a nod to tradition.  That really is his niche, I think…

    • cheesebomb

I actually liked the flashes of pink in his among so much black, white, gray and brown in all three collections.

  • Cheri Lee

Mondo’s 3rd and 5th look I liked but for the most part no.

  • Lisa

Crap.  I think Mondo has this in the bag.  His stuff really was awesome, I have to admit.

  • Onymous

Ugh last model did nothing for that look, her face completely robbed it of impact.

  • Gorengirl

Fabulous Collection! Except didnt Viktor Luna already do the inkblot dress?? Loved the long red/black number!

    • Onymous

they were shot more or less at the same time.

    • Sweetbetty

Not only did Viktor already do the inkblot thing, but Mondo’s inkblot dress looks an awful lot like his dress with the big black and white polka dots from his final collection in his season.

  • lessax3

I like Mondo’s. It flowed better then Austin’s to me. I really liked the inkblot dress and pants.

    • melizer

I’m not so thrilled he returned to the Rorschach thing, but I *loved* the inkblot pattern that ended up on that dress

  • Jasmaree

Is it me, or is there a bit of Mila and Kenley in Mondo’s collection? Especially the 2nd and 3rd looks.

My thoughts on it are meh. Better than Austin’s, but definitely not great. Nothing to get too excited about. The last gown came out of no where.

    • cheesebomb

The pieces with the red and black sleeves struck me as really Mila, but maybe I just have the colors and lines from the dress she was (incorrectly, I believe) eliminated for stuck in my head.

  • kirble

JOANNA COLES, PLEASE STOP TALKING!!! Jeebus, let us enjoy the clothes without commentary. And editors? Let us ENJOY THE CLOTHES. I’d much rather have another 5 seconds of seeing a garment than another cut to backstage or audience members.

Ugh. The runways always used to have a magical feeling (like we were in the tents), now they feel pedestrian as hell.

    • melizer

lol at Joanna coming up with noncommital things to say about Michael’s…”here’s where they’ll know it’s YOU”

      • kirble

I had to mute the TV. The running commentary of bullshit platitudes really detracted from the clothes.

        • melizer

I liked hearing what someone is thinking (filtered thoughts) real-time for once, the whole thing was too rushed though

    • Sweetbetty

And who were the people in the audience?  Did they just round up random people off the street to fill up the seats?

  • Jasmaree

Looks like Michael is letting his prints do all the work. They’re all standard pieces with vaguely jungle-ish prints. Yawn. It was to be expected though.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

I never realized how much he has in common with Anya. Of course, he’s a better designer generally. But he and Anya should team up – she can inject some taste into his fabric choices and Michael can… do everything else.

  • UsedtobeEP

Given where the clothing is going to be sold, I think Michael has a shot.

    • lessax3

This is what I thought too.

      • Onymous

Sounded like Hilfiger was pulling for him.

  • Cheri Lee

I liked Michael’s 5th look, the separates but everything else looked the same.

  • Stubenville

Michael’s looks are better than I thought they would be, but that damn Mrs. Roper last look!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Michael is no genius, but he can design wearable clothes. He’s had plenty of exposure now, almost as good as winning. I have little sympathy for Austin, he already has had plenty of publicity.

  • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Bleh. Mondo’s was the best, but overall I am not terribly impress-

OHMIGOD! WHAT THE HELL DID IRINA DO TO HER PRETTY FACE?!?!

    • http://twitter.com/wonderdivaEtsy wonderdivaEtsy

I was howling about her plastic surgery!

    • sleah_in_norcal

my thoughts eggs-zack-lee!  she and mila must have the same dermatologist.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

I think she just looked tired. I think this was probably filmed at or around Fashion Week.

  • Lisa

Michael’s first look was hideous.  The rest were okay.

Despite what a huge fan of Austin’s I am, and as much as I’m so disappointed in Mondo’s behavior, if I’m being honest, the best was Mondo’s, then Austin’s, then Michael’s.  1,2,3.

  • Jasmaree

Mondo’s collection was definitely the best (but kind of by default). Austin went mad and Michael made department store clothes.

Austin had the best look of the night though. That wedding gown was gorgeous. Too bad about almost everything else.

  • BrooklynBomber

I hate to say it, but I’m underwhelmed. But I don’t blame the designers; after all, they only had a few days to make a six piece collection! WHY?!?! Why didn’t they give them weeks or months, as on regular PR? “All Stars” should be able to better than regular PR, but give them some time to do it, please!!

    • lessax3

I know, I can’t really blame them for things like fit or mediocrity when you average out the time for six looks they had less time then a normal challenge.

    • UsedtobeEP

It’s almost like the producers and everyone involved ran out of steam at the end. I felt like everything got very subdued. Maybe because there was no Fashion Week at this time, they didn’t think it was worth their time to drag it out for so long, but you would think with all of the prizes on the line it would be more of a climax.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Nah, with all the prizes on the line, they probably just wanted to save money.

    • formerlyAnon

I’m insulted by the timeline. I don’t really care that the producers think the audience watches for extremely forced-feeling drama, I know I like a little drama and even over-the-top drama has its audience. I DESPISE that they think the audience doesn’t care about seeing what the designers could really do, given time and budget. I HATE that they hold contests to recruit designers, and then handpick ‘favorites’ from among (mostly) the best of those designers, and then they tell them to make 6 looks in under a week. Feh.

      • BrooklynBomber

        Feh!

      • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Feh, indeed. I’m still pissed off about the amount of time the guys were given. Austin had to send out a dress with pins in it because he didn’t have enough time. WTF?

I cannot criticize the designers for repeating some looks. I know all about how some people work best under stress. I’ve been known to do that myself. But you can’t create time out of nothing. You either have it or you don’t. And that kind of stress reduces creativity and causes mistakes; and there’s no time to fix the problems. Thank you, Bunim/Murray and Lifetime, for ruining this wonderful show.

Oh, did I say “thank you”? I meant “screw you”.

    • Sweetbetty

Here’s what I don’t get.  When Not-Heidi opened the runway show she said that three months  ago they brought back the 13 all-star designers.  Most of the challenges were one-day with the runway show the next day.  Unless they got a lot of time off between challenges I wonder where three months went until the final runway show?

      • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Three months *viewer* time, I’m guessing. Not actual time. They like to pretend we don’t know how reality shows work.

  • jjfg

Didn’t hate Michael’s collection as much as I hoped I would.  LOL. But WTF are they going to do for the next half hour?

I’m going to watch hockey and tune back in at 9:59.

    • melizer

for the next half hour, they’re going to eviscerate them one by one

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I watched each line on the runway, then skipped the judges’ critiques and final judging, tuned in to see the final announcement. I’m pleased for Mondo as I thought he did the best in the limited time they had, but the entire season was a big “meh” in my book.

  • http://twitter.com/LovemyDVF Janet Davis

Thought Austin’s was all over the place and didn’t really like many of his pieces.  Felt like he had too many ideas he tried to incorporate into too few looks

Liked Mondo’s collection, thought it looked like him but had more sophistication than his last one – I want the inkblot dress and the body to wear it

Liked Michael Costello’s collection more than I thought I would, thought he had some good looks.

I would have to give it to Mondo with Michael second and Austin third.

  • dress_up_doll

It’s great to be able to see the entire collection(s) on the runway at once.

  • Cheri Lee

My vote goes to Austin…I love all that girly shit!

  • Gorengirl

Austin’s 2 long gowns were fabulous! and I liked his jacket… but the rest just did not do anything for me…..

    • CarolinLA

I hated the red and black gown.  It looked like the fashion equivalent of a circular staircase.

      • introspective

Austin had more than a few pieces that made me twitch. The red dress and the pink pants and that baggy capri jumpsiut were all the kiss of death to me. He wasnt exactly neck and neck with mondo given all the wonky details I mention above and a few more i cant remember off the top.

It was as if austin put his all into that wedding gown rather than balancing his “all” sensibly throughout the collection. But one good piece cant save 5 others that are meh.

  • graveetas

Team Mondo! Graphic & cerebral.  Michael’s was boring & very Anya & Uli & Michael Knight.  Austin’s too garish.

  • Jasmaree

Michael’s pieces can sell easily because they’ve already been sold.

  • Stubenville

Why is Georgina Chapman wearing a muppet pelt?

    • Lisa

An homage to the Miss Piggy challenge?

  • Gorengirl

    J’adore Mondo’s red lame dress!!!!!

  • graveetas

How many purple ostriches had to die for Georgina’s dress? Go PETA!

    Isaac, the voice of reason!

  • http://profiles.google.com/gillianholroyd gillian holroyd

Heh, they all start damning Michael with faint praise and then Isaac lets loose.

  • Gorengirl

STFU Tommy! You have never created anything that wasnt red, white and blue……

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=2052589 Merrie Davidson

Plus it says “tommy hilfiger” on it, in  case you missed it.

    • melizer

I remember a friend of convenience got a job at Tommy Hilfiger…lingerie?!  Am I remembering that right?  And thinking how that label was over.  And that was a lifetime ago.  I haven’t heard from her since 1995 maybe…

    • emily mcginnis

I know that Tommy H is definitely not current anymore. i will say that i like to buy t-shirts from the Tommy outlet. they are not skin-tight, not clingy and not see-through. And they’re cheap. but i HATE that the logo is on everything. UGH.

      • CozyCat

To prove your point:  TH was the “style mentor” for the contestants on American Idol this week.  That’s about as non hip and non current (fashion wise) as you can get.

  • marilyn

Michael.  He just does not have the talent.

  • UsedtobeEP

See, this drives me crazy. “Are we deciding on the collection before us right now or the whole aspect of the designer?” Well, isn’t that something you should have talked about before this moment? The judging criteria for who wins the competition? It’s Nina/Michael/Heidi all over again. Do we pick who we want to win or who made the best collection? The one who has the best ideas or who would sell the best? I know it’s all relative but it sure feels like the rules, if there ever were any, have been tossed out the window.

  • rowsella

I think the ones that don’t win should show each look from their final collection on Fashion Star next.   Why not? At least they could make a little money and we could get some McCalls patterns….

  • littlelistmaker

Yessssssssss, thank god that possibility is over.

  • Cheri Lee

    Yaaaaaay! Bye Michael!

  • Cheri Lee

    Mondo…of course. Bitchy-boo.

  • dress_up_doll

    Surprise. Mondo won.

  • Gorengirl

MONDO!!! Bout damn time!! 2 seasons too late but WTH!!! YES~~~

  • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Tess Danesi

As much as I love Mondo and think he deserves the win, I feel bad for Austin. He’s also so supremely talented.

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Yeah, I felt bad for him too. Austin got screwed pretty badly in his own season, IMO. He’s very talented, a true artist, and so charming.

I loved the lacquered lace dress and the wedding gown (it’s spectacular), but I agree with Isaac that it seemed more like a “Best of” than a cohesive collection.

I was rooting for Mondo, and I think he deserved it. But I don’t think I would have complained if Austin had won.

  • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I love Austin so much for how he made “this is a wonderful consolation” sound so bitchy.

    And Mondo wins, of course.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4CGGJGJKCS7YDL6VFESBKJKRH4 Happy1

Me, too. I lol’d. And his expression, perfect. I wouldn’t mind another Austin tv show, as long as he was paired with Anthony, who I’d buy every single item he made, just to have him hang out with me every day. Arguing all episode about “dead white lady” dresses, I say this is a winner. And I hope I never see Michael Costello and his “dis” and “dere” self, ever again. Amen, child.

    • Sweetbetty

Didn’t he though. Love Austin’s flair for the dramatic. I wonder if he’ll take his mom to Paris? Do we know if he has a sweetheart? Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge

  • rowsella

Mondo won.  Angela’s polka dots gave it away.

  • http://www.facebook.com/xerapis David Louis Quick

Oh please. Nothing unexpected. Could have predicted this crap from the beginning.

  • http://janitesonthejames.blogspot.com/ Vic

Mondo won because of the Gwetched injustice, but frankly, his collection was a bit predictable. I am a huge Mondo fan, but did not like these 6 designs. Austin Scarlet wuz robbed.

  • Lisa

Wellllll, I knew that was happening.  I saw the spoilers a few weeks ago, and the list on Gawker was 100% accurate.  It had the eliminations from Elisa clear through to Austin, and there wasn’t a single one out of place.  I was hoping it was wrong, but there you go.

And to be fair, as much as I adore Austin – Mondo did have the best collection.  It pains me to say it, but even if this *was* a fix, at least Mondo had the best collection.

    • Sweetbetty

Yes, it was a fix I can live with, unlike the Anya travasty.
      Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge

  • littlelistmaker

Mehhhhhhh. Not surprised, but also not pleased. Poor Austin.

  • BPlease

    Congratulations, Austin.

Mondo, I went from liking you to disliking you intensely.  Congratulations.  Why don’t you put on some Hot Topic-taste-level pockets and oversized buttons on something, and get some real fucking therapy so that you stop being so goddamned manipulative, entitled and sour.

    • Cheri Lee

I wish I could like this comment 100 times!

      • Lisa

        Here, let me help you!

    • Stubenville

I can’t disagree with the idea that Mondo became more and more unlikable over the PRAS season. But take the personality out of the equation, and can you honestly say that you thought Austin’s collection or Michael’s collection taken as a whole were better?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Maybe he’s just the type of person who needs time to recharge after being stuck with the same people with no sleep for days on end. I’d be pretty sour too. I’m not sure where Mondo was manipulative; as for being entitled, I think they all are and that’s sort of par for the course for reality TV fashion designers.

  • Judy_J

Mondo finally gets the prize he should have been awarded in Season 8. What ever happened to Gretchen, anyway?

    • Lisa

Shhhh!  Don’t say her name too loudly, she might reappear!

    • Stubenville

She’s probably a passive-aggressive barista at a local Portland coffee shop.

      • Lauren Hall

As a Portlander I’m delighted to tell you she no longer lives here. So make that a Portland-wannabe coffee shop in New York.

      • Lauren Hall

    • Munchkn

She’s in New York designing some jewelry and some really ugly clothes.  I looked at her online store and man are the clothes awful!  Some of the jewelry isn’t too bad, but there’s no excuse for the ugliness of those garments.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I thought her jewelry designs were a pleasant surprise. Her clothes just do nothing for me.

  • BrooklynBomber

    I’m shocked. Shocked!

  • JuliaInBlack

    Hooray!!!

  • NDC_IPCentral

Congratulations, Mondo!  Not that much drama, but I think the right decision was made… for the first time in several seasons.

  • kirble

I never realized how much Joanna Coles looks like Tilda Swinton.

  • WritingWonder

Meh. Mondo gets it. How surprised are you?
    Not.

  • QJ321

Aww – I feel bad for Austin.

  • Carla Williams

Yuck. Didn’t like any of that. In fact, Mondo’s whole collection looked just like his previous designs albeit in different fabric. That Rorschach dress was the polka dot dress, only shorter.

Glad that gift subscription I had to Marie Clare is over.

  • nancylee61

I think the best collection won. I love Austin, but he was really all over the place. Michael – I can get his stuff anywhere.

Congrats, Mondo!! I do love his clothes!!

  • formerlyAnon

No surprises. Ho hum. Passably interesting if you don’t dwell on how much you once loved this show.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Michael is a good actor- he left the stage graciously.

  • Wendi126

Watching After the Runway..is Austin channeling Joel Grey in Cabaret or what

    • Stubenville

Apparently Liza Minnelli’s outfit didn’t come in his size.

  • BookishBren

If Mila had been in the final three, would it have been such an “easy” Mondo win? Michael definitely did not deserve to be in the top three.

Austin showed more depth even though he wasn’t cohesive. I also think his story weakened him a little. It was just….odd. I have said from show #1 of this that it was Mondo’s to lose because of what happened in his season. I actually don’t mind that Mondo won because he is a good designer. I really would liked to have seen Mila in there and the effect that would have had on things.

I can honestly say I am done with PR. I have tried to hang with it to make reading the blog more entertaining but I know so many don’t watch and still find the blog entertaining. It isn’t sour grapes or anything like that. I just think PR has run its course. I am NOT watching the Fashion Star nightmare. That show is ridiculous.

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Yes because he was the winner before the filming started.  And I like Mondo BTW, but his win felt too predictable.

      • Stubenville

Sigh. The Magical Elves were so much better at hiding the deus ex machina ropes and pulleys, weren’t they?

    • Stubenville

If Mila had been in the final three, would it have been such an “easy” Mondo win?

I love Mila’s aesthetic, but the same could be said about Rami, too.

      • http://twitter.com/susanpcollier Susan Collier

I’m still baffled that Rami wasn’t there.

        • Spicytomato1

Not that he wouldn’t have been gracious if the outcome wasn’t predetermined, but now I can see why he — and the others who were schmaufed too early — seemed the opposite of outraged on their way out. I think true outrage only occurs when one thinks one has a legitimate shot at winning. This wasn’t a competition at all.

    • Pinup Ghoul

I wouldn’t blame TLo if they stopped recapping it, too. Lately, it’s seemed a bit like a chore to even watch, so I can’t imagine having to write about it in depth on top of that. Blech. TLo, bless, have tremendous fortitude, and their bullshit tolerance level is WAY higher than mine.

  • melizer

OH GOD WHY BRING KENLEY BACK?! WHY?!

    • melizer

I read someone called her “pleasant” in the comments earlier and I’m still twitching!

  • Onymous

Kenley showing love for the tumor dress.
    of course.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

    mondo – austin – michael?

okay, so the gawker spoiler was on the money. damn. mila is not my favorite of the designers, but thats just personal preference. rami does not make my favorite stuff but he ordinarily does a spectacular job of what he does. & for heavens sake, & even though she drove my friend totally bats, sometimes elena [colloquially known here & probably elsewhere as the spitter] should not, by any means, have been the first eliminee. this is all just nonsense. a real competition would not have come down this way. oh heavens no. i remember sitting here during previous seasons, refreshing the page while reading/listening to what i couldnt watch til it showed up the next day online–cos everything was so exciting & so fascinating. this was neither of those things. this was– empty. & its emptiness was, i’ve said it before, here it is again:
bad for the show, bad for its audience, bad for the competitors, bad for the design, bad for the culture.
    FEH. 1000x FEH.

    • formerlyAnon

      “Empty” is exactly right.

  • JimiG

I knew Mondo would win, but I was disappointed with his collection. I thought the giant buttons and pockets read very Minnie Mouse. Poor Austin. Loved what he did.

    • MaryMitch

I missed season 1 but saw Austin and Santino’s show. Austin is just adorable, and I think he would be a pleasure to work with. Marie Claire’s employees are going to have to set up a rapid message system to warn everyone when Mondo’s in a mood.

      • Presumptuous Insect

Something like, “Gird your loins, everyone!”?

      • Spicytomato1

I actually can’t imagine him being too moody at Marie Claire…he’s already won. The pressure’s off. Nothing to get too worked up over, especially as I imagine the “guest editor” job is largely ceremonial and doesn’t really require much work.

        • formerlyAnon

Following someone into that job would make an interesting t.v. show.

        • Sweetbetty

I wonder if he gets paid a salary for his year as guest editor? Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge

  • Pupioso

Meh, none of the collections to me were that great. I just didn’t see a lot of creativity. I’m okay with Mondo winning as I really didn’t think any of the designers were that much above or behind each other. Overall I was just “meh” as I expected to be.

  • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986/ Judy S

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this episode. I thought all 3 collections were worth looking at. I think this is the first time I have found anything Michael did attractive (I don’t like animal prints, but I liked the variety of shapes). I think I would have given it to Austin, really, but Mondo can do a lot with the prize. Also, although there may have been some bad faith and there was definitely a lot of repetition of the PR mantras, it was interesting to hear the judges arguing and there were some good comments in that section.

    • blondie65

I agree…I enjoyed listening to so much of the judges comments and how you really didnt know which way they were going to go.  And I really liked Michael’s second look, as well as Austin’s wedding dress. It was a worthwhile episode, and that is something I haven’t said about PR in a few years.

    • sleah_in_norcal

yes, i also felt strangely uplifted by the episode.  all three collections were lovely and interesting, and i would have been happy with any winner.  i have a feeling mondo will go far.  i hope they put one of his boutiques in downtown san francisco!
about michael’s prints, i liked that they were slightly abstract, esp. the first look, rather than clearly defined zebra stripes etc.  that would have cheapened the look.

  • dress_up_doll

Awwww, I miss Anthony! I’ll bet he’ll still be dapper, beautiful and awesome even as an eighty-five year old man.

    • melizer

      “good evening” – Anthony

      • introspective

I Really wish PRAS had a miss congeniality/fan favorite because that would be anthony’s prize far and away… Love his aura and the lightness he can bring to a room full of drama queens.

  • BobStPaul

Personally, I would have ranked them Mondo, Michael, Austin.  Austin’s wedding dress was the single best piece in all three collections but his collection was all over the place and his styling was hideous.

    • Stubenville

You don’t often see models styled to look like Bette Davis in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.

  • BrooklynBomber

“The Nieman Marcus customer is uber-fashionable.  “Uber fashionable.” Egad.

    • melizer

I can’t afford to drive past NM, but sometimes I get their almond pecan popcorn for Christmas.

      • Lisa

Literally, the only thing I’ve ever been able to afford to buy at NM has been eyeliner from the Lancome counter and a bottle of Coco Chanel.

    • melizer

Austin is only getting 10% in the NM favorite poll, Michael 20% and Mondo 70%

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

The Neiman Marcus customer is an upper class matron.

      • formerlyAnon

And her sorority daughter carrying mama or papa’s Neiman’s card. Though they favor the accessories.

  • Sweetbetty

Does Joanna know she had a big hunk of hair sticking out at the back of her head?  And after Isaac said that hair and shoes were the most important parts of your look.

  • Lisa

Well, at least everyone kept it classy on the after show (except for April still bitching about Michael bitching about the red).  I hate that misdirection on the previews that there’s going to be nastiness so that they get you to watch.

It’s one of the things that always gives me “agita” about any “all stars” season of any given reality TV show. I always have my favorites.  I always get too overly-invested in the actual personalities.  And sure enough, there’s someone on every season who I really loved who turns into an egocentric asshole during an all-stars season.  This season it was Mondo, which still really bothers me, but I was so worried it was going to be Austin.  So at least I have that going for me – Austin stayed sweet all the want through. And unlike season 1, at least I got to see him through the whole season!

    • melizer

Austin stayed sweet the entire way through?!

      • Lisa

I thought so.  Compared to the others, I never saw him get nasty.  A few catty comments in the “talking head” confessionals, but they all did that.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

I’m pretty certain they are encouraged to be bitchy.

          • formerlyAnon

Not to mention edited to sound bitchy.

  • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Well that was rude!  Why weren’t all the designers there for the After the Runway Show.  I know some may have had other commitments like Mila, but they deserved to be on one more time for the wrap-up (other than a quick glimpse of them at the very end) since they did help draw viewers to begin with.

    • Lisa

You know, I wish they’d had Rami back!  Till I saw a spoiler list, I honestly expected Rami to win this, so I would have liked to have seen him there.

    • Sweetbetty

In the few-second shot of all the designers with their celabratory champagne classes I noticed one of them actually raising the glass and drinking out of it, thus blocking the view of Mondo, the center of the celebration. It was hard to tell who it was but I think it was Gordana. Significant of her to just take a drink to get through it all . Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge

  • blondie65

Well, after all this (& how many glasses of wine I don’t want to count)….what I came away with is, how good is Michael at impressions!?! Damn….would have made many episodes a lot more fun to watch!  Stupid B/M.

    • dlmerril

They should have a show devoted to Michael and Santino doing impressions of past designers, judges, and mentors.

  • BuffaloBarbara

I have to agree with the judge’s decision–I wasn’t all that wild about Mondo’s collection, but it was the most cohesive.  I note they very carefully didn’t show the Rorschach dress beside the final polka-dot dress that got him in such trouble in his season.

But Austin’s wedding dress would sell like hotcakes; I gasped when it came out.  His story did him in, though.  You could almost see the entire audience, judges included, doing the Anthony-laugh in their heads about the 18th century vampire borrowing clothes from her styling Hasidic neighbors in Williamsburg.  Someone needs to tell him that as much as the cloudcuckoolander ideas inspire him, he needs to make up acceptable cover stories when he’s on the runway–even if went just far down enough to be, “a timeless urban supernatural romance,” it would sound better than giving the whole back-cover spiel.  He can tell the whole story to whoever he takes with him on the plane to Paris.

Michael’s wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, but it was a huge yawn.  Or maybe that was just because I literally fell asleep during it, and only caught the stills later.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

oy, austin doesnt know from hasids. thats really funny. but he means no harm. he’s just made up an impossible romance in his head, heaven love him for it. &, sadly, he was done in. but it wasnt by that. it was by the the whole f’ing pre-decided process.

      • BuffaloBarbara

I think “means no harm” could probably be his motto.  I finally managed to stay awake through the After the Runway, and I really liked that, when asked for the worst look, he opted to share what he considered (rightly) his best look.

    • CozyCat

Based SOLELY ON WHAT THEY SHOWED IN THIS SHOW:

Michael’s collection was the most marketable.  If his independent design business doesn’t make it, he can make a good living designing for some department store line (Heh, there are worse things in life…)

Mondo’s collection was the best of the night.  But it won’t add anything to the rep he had developed before the show (won’t detract either…)

Austin’s collection had the most creative ideas and the most potential for future interesting work. It is a bit of a shame that he will probably go back to designing his (incredibly beautiful) wedding dresses and not have a chance to develop a line.

  • emily mcginnis

Mondo had the best collection BUT most of it was a repeat of his original season. i would’ve given the win to Austin because at least he did something new. Horribly dated, but new.

  • gubblebumm

i wanted kenley in there, she is the only one that made things i would wear…i don’t see myself in any of the there dudeettes apparel, and having just seen the final runway show, eh, i was right

  • CarolinLA

I would’ve put Austin third. When you introduce your collection as a vampire from the 1800s who borrows clothes from Hassidic neighbors, you’re in trouble.  I had no idea who Austin’s girl was.  And those pink pants – come on.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I was prepared for Austin’s collection to win me over, and sadly it didn’t.  Those pink pants-was that an attempt to be conceptual? I didn’t get them. The pink tulle poufing at the back of the skirt-she’s pooing tulle, Austin!  The wedding dress was quite impressive, but I understood the comment that it came out of a different collection.
Austin was very gracious, true to form.  I wish him all the best.

  • VicksieDo

I was pleased to see Mondo win, his designs are fresh and always so cool.  That
Rorschach dress with the red sleeve section was to.die.  I would go without electricity for a month if I was skinny enough to wear it, to buy it.  Austin’s was ok, but didn’t look like a cohesive collection at all. Michael’s was a snooze, but all the talk about it being “commercial” had me thinking he would win.  Ick.

So yay Mondo!  Now you can relax and get on with it.  You should have won your season, and now you can truly be launched properly.

    • ASK26

I thought that the Rorschach was a almost remake of his polka down gown Heidi liked and the others hated in his last finale collection.  Especially when they showed the after show

      • VicksieDo

A bit, but the polka dot dress was my favorite of that whole season, so it was fine by me.

  • CarolinLA

I thought Mondo’s b&W ink blot dress was a big FUCK YOU to Nina and Michael.

    • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Hahahaha! I hadn’t thought of that, but I hope you’re right.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

      Word!

  • Caaro3

At least I won’t need to take an Ambien tonight.  What a snoozefest.

  • Skippy Aveo

Mondo.  He is SUCH a whiney, fakey, crybaby.  Now I have to buy a new TV. [Although I admit his collection was pretty great. Still. ... He is not going to last at his new "job". Too much whine.]

  • http://twitter.com/LovemyDVF Janet Davis

Watching Project Runway Allstars, particularly Austin, has inspired me to make a collection.

The theme of my collection centers around 15th century archers who are cryogenically frozen and brought back to life during the 1980s where they discover TV and are inspired to learn to knit using only neon colored yarn due to their obsession with cardigan sweaters from watching Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood.  They also like to borrow clothing from their friends who drag queens in the East Village and the nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sorrows orphanage.

You forgot the partridge in the pear tree.

A bejeweled pear, of course.  :)

  • BrooklynBomber

Next, I think the History Channel should take over Project Runway. Or ScyFy or whatever it’s called. Or OWN, or NatGeo. In fact, they should just move it around from channel to channel to see who can ruin it the best. Just think of the possibilities!

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

      Spike TV?  ESPN?

      • BrooklynBomber

Why not? The more, the messier.

      • jjfg

I’d give it to Spike.  Their recent Ink Master series was totally watchable.

    • Truly_Outrageous

Lets have MTV pick it up and let us watch the show burn to the ground.

Already happened, babe…the “burning to the ground” part that is.

Having Tim shill on ads for S10 is just sad. sad. sad.  I feel sorry for Tim.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZJ27MD35MEEOJJVB6YSLT6I26A Wat

I think SyFy could pull off a pretty amazing Project Runway. They could merge it with Face Off and make people design costumes and character make up.

      • MilaXX

Consider Face Off is fairly wank free, I’d watch that.

    • MilaXX

yeah throw Oprah a bone. She seems to need a show that can generate ratings.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

If this series was on Oprah’s network, the sob stories would be even worse.

  • Presumptuous Insect

You know what, I was unhappy about Mizrahi being a judge for this show, but by the end, he kinda won me over.

    • siriuslover

I thought he was an incredibly thoughtful judge. So much more restrained than I’ve seen him in other venues. But I’ve always liked Mizrahi, so I came in biased to be positive towards him.

  • slightlybitterkitten

Tylko w Warszawie?  No… not really.

  • Skippy Aveo

Completely agree. And Austin’s wedding dress is beautiful.  I have never been a fan of big tulle skirts, but the top just sets everything off so beautifully.  I so, so wanted Austin to win.

  • NCDFan

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the collections given that they had only 4 days. I think each of them managed to surprise the judges with things that were unexpected and things that were beautiful. I don’t know if the producers actually scripted the win, but I think Mondo deserved it. I really liked Austin’s wedding dress but the rest of the collection didn’t match. Michael’s collection was surprisingly wearable and not all gowns but his theme was the fabric not the design.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MNMVM2GPVUEIOJXBOSLCXKAW4U judy brown

    Called it, for Mondo.

Even if the fix was in from the begining — his final collection was the freshest.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MNMVM2GPVUEIOJXBOSLCXKAW4U judy brown

What the hell is that leopard anti-macasser on Mondo’s head.

    And Austin as Marlena Dietrich?

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Now I have a picture in my mind of Austin warbling “Falling in Love again, nothing I can do….”

  • hughman

Now that Project Runway All-Stars is over i can go back to predicting when the sun will shine.

  • ccm800

On pure OMG LOOK how much that bastard got done in four days….the win is obvious. Based on how much it looks like a collection – then it goes elsewhere.

  • Glammie

Her last collection was pretty fug, but I liked her previous one.  I think she does some decent jewelry.  But I actually feel sorry for her.  She was so vilified and I really don’t think she did anything that terrible–she was mostly kind of obnoxious.  Her big mistake was barely beating Mondo when people were rooting for him.  I don’t think she OR Mondo had the obvious winning collection.  I think Kors just thought hers was more marketable.  But no one was considering the audience reaction.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/ZJ27MD35MEEOJJVB6YSLT6I26A Wat

Holy crap, that bullshit judging discussion made me want to put a knitting needle through my head. How many different ways can we arrange the words incredible, amazing, fantastic, cohesive and marketable before people notice we’re not actually talking about anything? That said, I feel like the right person won. Although I’d wear the shit out of Austin’s wedding dress.

  • pippitypup

Oh, I’m sorry, there was a fashion show on tonight? Never would have guessed, certainly not from the way the camera so merrrily skipped over the clothes.

  • Bree The Vole

Am I the only one who thought “hi, Kenley’s romper!” when Mondo’s second look appeared? Yeah, I thought so. :P

  • http://twitter.com/ShelfAfterlife Shelf Afterlife

I’m so happy for Mondo. I’m so happy for Michael to see how much he’s grown from his meltdown after he was out the first time.  This time his tears were for Mondo.  I could tell how bummed Austin was and I don’t blame him.  I’m not a huge fan of his stuff, but he’s so talented.  I was rooting for Mondo but I really didn’t know what way they were going to go.

  • Tausha Woods

I think All-Stars was created solely to give Mondo a win. I love his designs, thought he deserved it the first time but it’s almost transparent. Very reminiscent of Christain’s season when we all knew from day ONE who was going to win.

  • piperkitty

Does anyone know what Gretchen is doing now?

    • Carla Williams

She recently had a collection showing; only thing I remember is that she had the models’ manicures done to look like veined turquoise–they were pretty great. I’ve also seen her jewelry on Piperlime (though on sale), and it seems like I’ve seen her clothes online, too. A magazine–Marie Clare?–featured her apartment. I really disliked her and her aesthetic, but she certainly hasn’t disappeared.

  • ASK26

I fell asleep at various points through the first two showings, saw the judging.   It really seemed that Tommy and Kevin(?) the Neiman Marcus guy wanted Michael    (Austin was too different non-cohesive, and Mondo’s looked “inexpensive”/young.  I have to agree that the pockets, buttons, (and I think the swirl on the skirt) all looked like cheap juniors.

It sure seemed like April wanted to take credit for ALL of Michael”s great fitted dress

    • Laylalola

They didn’t explictly say it anywhere, but from what they showed April did at least the dress with the messed-up sleeves (one too loose, one too tight) that gave Michael fits the day of the runway.

  • Laylalola

    ~~~
    • Sweetbetty
      He appears to have a whole collection of organ grinder monkey hats, and the suspender shorts to go with them. Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge
  • Ledasmom
    I fell asleep during several of the replays and dreamed that they had to do yet another challenge, and Mondo got eliminated first, and so on – when I finally woke up all the way during the last “After the Runway”, I was very puzzled. The dream was more fun than the show, though.
  • Violina23
    Did Mondo make the same dress AGAIN?  (Although the Rorschach print was pretty awesome)
    I wanted to want Austin to win, but it was too all over the place (Who would wear those first pants anyways?). Loved the wedding gown, but it came out of nowhere.  Michael’s stuff was department store (only one backless that I could remember, but no plunging neckline).
    In conclusion, I have zero objection to Mondo winning, in fact I think based on those collections he deserved it, but he has lost a huge chunk of the respect and admiration I had for him as a person during his first season. Not that I think he would care much how he came off, but I think my enthusiasm for him has kinda died.
    P.S. I am somewhat bewitched by how gorgeous Georgina Chapman is. (And I’m a straight female)
    • SewingSiren
      I believe Mondo did the same dress again, because he intends that to be his signature dress. It can be made in an endless variety of lengths, print /color combinations, and price points. So far he hasn’t made a penny off it.  It was very well received by the viewers in his first collections so it makes sense to repeat it .
      • Violina23
        I don’t disagree at all.  But for a design competition, in which he already replicated that dress once before, it seems a bit of a cop-out.
        • formerlyAnon
          I’d agree, except they had so little time. No-one had time to make up anything that hadn’t been well-thought out, even if not made up and shown-on-t.v., well in advance. In a way, I give him credit for not trying to add weird detailing or cut outs or something just to try to obscure the repetition. (Not that that sort of thing would fool anyone who’s qualified to judge, but – well, that’s another story.)
    • Sweetbetty
      “Michael’s stuff was department store (only one backless that I could remember, but no plunging neckline).” And again his model wearing the backless dress had hair down to her waist. It’s like he makes these backless dresses but then wants to hide the fact that they’re backless. Subject: [tomandlorenzo] Re: T LOunge
  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2B6U4UNVYIV5DLEG6Z24ALYOC4 Dan Alexander
    Yay for the winner! Mondo you deserve it so much and I am proud of you. Austin and Michael, you guys know you are such excellent designers and you both have a great future ahead of you!
  • SewingSiren
    I enjoyed Austin’s collection: The first look with the knickers was pure fantasy and I though it was a great opening piece. The lacquered  lace was my favorite. And my least favorite was the red and black gown. I loved closing the show with a wedding gown. Very old school. The bridal gown doesn’t have to tie into the rest of the collection,imo.
    Mondo’s was fun and I think he deserved the win. The blouse from the first look was in his original season 8 collection, and the second dress looked like a Miss Piggy redux. Loved the ink blots. (no way had he not practiced doing those) , the ink blot dress was indeed a redux of his finale gown, but that’s okay . It’s very smart to have a signature piece that can be reproduced in an endless variety of fabric combinations, lengths, and price points. The gown may have been his weakest piece. Still nice though.Michael’s opening outfit was dull as dishwater. The second two dresses were extremely similar to one another and also very similar to Mondo’s signature dress. The only memorable piece being the jumpsuit, and I think that is because I had seen it in the preview.I think his theme was a problem because it is so done.
  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle
    Michael’s would.  If that guy won, I would throw something HARD at my new TV.
