Ladurée Le Bar, Paris

Darlings, we’re on our way out the door to a fabulous dinner and fashion presentation that we’ll tell you all about later. If you’re good. So you’ll have to jet off to Paris without us, just this once. Don’t worry, we set up a tab for you so you won’t have to pay for your imaginary drinks.

Isaac Mizrahi, guest judge Pharrell Williams, Georgina Chapman and Angela Lindvall

Yadda yadda yadda.

Blah blah blah.

Talk amongst yourselves. Whose turn is it to go home tonight?

This place looks familiar. Have we been here before?
Driving again, in the snow. I’ll have a club soda with lime. Anyone who wants to get snockered, leave your keys with me and I’ll get you home.

      • Judy_J

I was thinking the same thing. This place is familiar.

Yes we have been here before.  I remember where the ladies room is!
I’ll have a double martini please.

      • Qitkat

Deja vu all over again! August 25, 2011.

      • Call me Bee

GT!  How gracious of you to be the DD.  I need to get snockered–lost another parent this week–my ex-mother in law.  Even though I divorced her son–she and his sisters still considered me family.  I has a big sad…though I know she’s ok in her next life…but I miss her.
So–in her honor–I’ll have a brandy old fashioned with all the obligitory fruit, followed by a glass of cheap white Zinfindal. Her favorite drinks.

        • formerlyAnon

I feel for you, I hope you can be good to yourself for a while. I have a similar relationship with my ex-mother-in-law & in some ways it is more special than it was when her son & I were married because it is continued by choice.

        • Qitkat

Sad for you too. How lovely you were able to keep a great relationship. Losing parents sucks.

        • kentiesgirl

So sorry for your loss. How wonderful you had that relationship, and that your SILs still consider you family as well. Glad you know she’s okay and in a better place.

And IMO, cheap white Zinfandel….tasty and fun, all rolled into one; can’t go wrong with that. Sounds like some pretty good favorite drinks to me!

        • profp

So sorry, Bee. I’ll raise my glass in your direction.

          • Call me Bee

Thanks, everyone.  I appreciate being able to come here and hang every Thursday and to see all of youse guys.  Its means a lot to me.   Thanks, also,  T & Lo.

            • UsedtobeEP

Cheers to you and to her.

        • NDC_IPCentral

Condolences and my sympathies.  Hold on to the good memories and allow yourself to grieve for as long as it takes.  And it takes longer than we usually expect.

        • GorgeousThings

Oh, Bee, I’m so sorry to hear that. Let’s raise a toast to the ol’ gal. I salute her with Perrier and lime. The driving is getting nasty out there.

      • kentiesgirl

I give my keys over readily as this is my first foray into the T LOunge as a commenter. I’ll start with a virgin strawberry margarita, as to not get snockered and embarrass myself. However I will become increasingly uncomfortable as the night goes on and switch to vodka martinis to calm my nerves and forget I handed them over in the first place. I’ll just count on you to remind me. ;)

        • Call me Bee

Welcome to the flock.  We are all members of the church of TLo.

          • kentiesgirl

Thank you!!! I’ve been a non-member member for a while, I just finally got up the nerve to write something instead of just talking to my cat, who I think is just bored, and my husband, who sez he is, lol.

        • Qitkat

Welcome to the lounge. It’s the BEST place on the internet on a Thursday night.
We all get a little wild n crazy from time to time here. It’s all good.
What happens in T LOunge *usually* stays in T LOunge ;-)

          • kentiesgirl

Thanks for the niceness guys! I’ve been too shy for too long to jump in.

But I have a feeling what happens in the TLOunge is all too fabulous stay in the TLOunge. The opinions are too snarky and awesome to be contained. But I’ll pretend it does, so as to be keepin on with my bitchiness. I’m lookin at you, Jerell. :P

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=8337746 Allison Fisseler

We’ve been here twice before (hides face in shame of how well she knows TLo). Once last season (not sure what episode) and once for season premiere of Season 8.

I’m going to go question my sanity – not so much for my sake but because I’m sure my employer will be curious to know what is taking my up my memory-space (is that a thing?).

    • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

Is it menswear this week? I hope it’s menswear. They haven’t had any tricky challenges with non-model-shaped people yet this series, have they?

      • kentiesgirl

Looks like maybe next week…seems like they were working with clients in the preview?

    • michelle shields

Paris? I’m there! Champagne for everyone!

      • 3boysful

Would love to join you in a glass of bubbly!  Merci!

      • Call me Bee

Yes–very excited to be in Paris–even though only virtually.

    • Miss_Led

“The dress is sick.” So they have to design a dress and something else, maybe?”

      • NCDFan

        Sick is the new cool.

    • Logo Girl

      Virtually, I’ll be having champagne.
Actually, I’ll be having generic diet cola.

Kenley is smiling in the promo, and it seems clear that America’s Most Robbed will be in the top 3, so I say Jerell is going to be Schmaufed (despite being a runner up for AMR).

      • CarolinLA

        AMR?

        • Logo Girl

America’s Most Robbed… Could be a good Lifetime show.

          • kentiesgirl

If Anthony hosts. He’s not an AMR, but he just needs to be on my TV.

      • kentiesgirl

I really hope it’s going to be Jerell, have a feeling it’s going to be anyone but him and Kenley. Just the way they’ve been editing it. But I hope I’m wrong. I’m still stinging over Rami and Mila. (and Kara too, but I agree with TLo that she doesn’t seem be up for these types of things, and she’s doing fine on her own)

    • Anathema_Device

Oooh Paris! How timely! I just booked our vacation to Paris & Stockholm this week. Maybe I’ll get to visit this fab spot in person.

I’ll have a pastis martini. Thank you.

I think it is WAY past Jerell’s time to go. So, I’m thinking it will be either Jerell or Austin for the schmauf.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Shut UP! When are you going, Anathema? I’ll be there myself, in mid Avril, for 10 days.

        • Anathema_Device

April in Paris! It’ll be so lovely. Have fun!

We’re going in mid June, when the kiddos are out of school. My bro and his family have been living in Stockholm, so it’ll be fun to venture out with people in the know. And we had to tie in a trip to Paris just because…right?

          • altalinda

I LOVE Sweden, so I’m terribly envious.  And June is the absolutely best month to be there.

            • Anathema_Device

Yes, I hear June is fabulous. We timed our trip around midsummer. I thought that would be a cool experience.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Seriously great! I hope you all have a terrific time! I promise to pop open a great bottle of champagne in your honor and in honor of of my fellow kittens of bitterness. And naturalment, a toast to T and Lo!

          • Call me Bee

How fun!  May I stash myself in your suitcase?  Be sure to hit Gotland for the Midsommer festivities.  It’s a big deal there.

          • http://theadventuresofmissparadox.tumblr.com/ Miss Paradox

Late to the party as usual, but I had had had to say this: So happy for you both! Like, I can’t even sit still, I’m so excited for you :]

This past summer I spent a week in London and Paris, and I have to say, Anathema and Kiltd, if you get a chance, you must check out the Victoria Cross Cafe in Paris. It’s both a cafe and a bar; I’m not sure what street it’s on exactly, but I know that it’s across from the Hotel Britannique and very close to the Seine. The owner is a fabulous man (who is quite good-looking in my opinion), and when we went there for dinner, we ended up staying very late because he joined an acoustic guitar player and began serenading everyone in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. He even dedicated a song to us, his “American friends”: Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” which to this day I can’t hear without drifting off into dreamland….

…oh, sorry. What was I saying? Yes. Victoria Cross Cafe. Do try to find it. I never wanted to leave, ever.

Happy travels to you both! I’m daydreaming for you :]

      • kentiesgirl

Totally been Jerell’s time to go since, like, when he showed up. I’m sorry, I just do not get his style. At all.

As for Paris….squee! Sounds AH MAZ ING. I’m jealous :)

    • Floyd Thirsby

       The
Ep. 9 preview shows all the final outfits (except Michael’s) for a
split second.   Rather presumptuously I have ranked them best to worst
based sometimes on a single close-up shot:

      Mondo
      – Rihanna-worthy bustier
with curved and pointed bra edge.  Over a black background, vertical
contour lines of yellow, green, red and white pearl-like dots
descend along the full length of the dress.  Headpiece with veiled eyes,
red-light headphones and a lime electronic device(?) on top. A
      knockout.Kenley
      – I think they’ve
been conspicuously urging Kenley to move outside the box to
      dramatically highlight
her bizarre look this week.  Outsized blue-light “jacket”, with floating
red pin lights, perforated with large square openings over a black
dress with a haphazard pattern of crossing pink and lime lines.  The hat
looks like a blue-light mop on her head.  Reminds me of the Morlocks in
      “The Time Machine” and that’s a good thing.Austin -
Typical AS strapless gown top in blue light.  White pin light broach at
cleavage from which blue light, white pin light and black “wires” seem
to form a connection with the headpiece a la Avatar.  His model really
is a liability.  Austin is increasingly muse-less and flat as the season
      wears on.Jerell
      – Another blue light production.  Black tight top with
      blue
light feather collar.  Blue quill-like hat feathers.  Black
sunglasses with blue light lenses (chipped).  Kewpie doll lips.  Looks
like Jerell was actually able to make this challenge boring. You only
see close up details on Austin and Jerell and the hidden parts might be
      terrific, but somehow….Michael -
      the only finished look
you don’t get a look at.  You only see his original black dress with the
first pass at applying strips of yellow light.  It has two flying
buttresses off the back that are hideous. This is obviously his first
cut so it could be misleading trailer-art and Michael might end up with
Chartres cathedral from those flying buttresses.  But somehow….

    • NCDFan

Please let Jerell go tonight judges. Please. I can’t stand to see any more of his crap.

      • Lisa

I’ll cross my fingers along with you.  That guy is stinkin’ up the room in a big way.  In fact, I think the only dress I’ve liked from Jerrell this season was his very first one from the 99 cent store.  The rest have been horrible – why is he still here?

    • Pannyx

I’m still bitter about Mila’s exit from the show. She had a contender for the win IMHO. It was a tragedy that Jerrel didn’t get sent packing.

    • Judy_J

I’m thinking it’s Jarrell’s turn to depart. Give me a whiskey, ginger ale on the side. And don’t be stingy, baby.

      • brora

         ‘Vhiskey’, surely?

        • Judy_J

          Yes…but I don’t have a Swedish accent.

      • Susan Crawford

One of my all-time favorite lines to quote! Aaah, Greta Garbo . . . they don’t make ‘em like THAT anymore!

    • NDC_IPCentral

      Whoever goes home, it’s diversion.

Hi, friends, fauns, minions, poodles and Bitter Kittens.  I AM watching tonight, but by next week I should be in the hospital.  Thanks to everyone of the cohort here who was so kind and supportive last week.  It’s been a tough seven days, but today I made my appt. with the gynecological oncologist who’ll be handling my case and probably removing the furniture from the basement.  My sis is arriving tomorrow from parts Midwest, open ticket so she’ll be with me as long as necessary.  Thanks again for the love, you guys.

As our Gay Uncles would say,

       XO

      NDC

      • SouthernGirlRena

Hugs, praying for all goes well.

      • http://viridianpostcard.blogspot.com/ viridian61

Sending positive thoughts your way.  Hope that’s not too twee.

      • Qitkat

NDC, I’m so sorry to hear of such serious news. I missed it last week,
but I just want to add my voice to all the rest in wishing you the very
best of care and outcome. Blessings and hugs to you.

      • Judy_J

NDC, I wish you a speedy recovery.

      • Anathema_Device

Oh no. I wasn’t able to visit the lounge last week, so I missed that news. I’m very sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope everything goes well and you get nothing but good news from here on out!

      • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I hope it goes well for you.

      • Lisa

Good luck, honey – we’ll be here when you get back!

      • formerlyAnon

Well, best wishes for you, and my somewhat fallen-away prayers.  Sorry you’re still waiting to get this next step over with so you can move on through whatever more delightful fun modern medicine delivers and on into recovery.

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Sending hugs and good vibes and much love NDC!

      • CrazyAuntie

Blessings NDC – I know that everything will go well for you.  Stay positive – you’re on your way to health again.

Relax and enjoy watching All Stars — oh, and Jerrell will be goin’ home …

        Auntie

      • serenitynow02

Never underestimate the positive vibes of the unborn fauns. Hope next week goes well and swiftly and you can get back to doing more important things like commenting on the tomfoolery of the famous and those who just think they are!

      • NDC_IPCentral

For those who don’t know, and as an update since things have changed a bit, and I promise I’m not trying to sober up the Lounge, tho’ Tom and Lorenzo have been incredibly sweet to me, I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer, either ovarian or uterine.  I’m either going to undergo major surgery (7 day hospital stay) and then after the big abdominal wound heals, chemo, or, depending on my gynecological oncologist’s and my internist/oncologist’s decisions, chemo first and then surgery.  Given that I’m presenting atypical findings and I’m also a DES daughter, my doctors’ comments lead me to believe that the surgery first (get in there and see what’s going on and then complete debulking/cytoreduction) with chemo later will probably be the treatment course.

I have excellent physicians, caring family (I’m a spinster, so there’s  no Mr. NDC) and generous, supportive friends, so I’m going to try to be a compliant and determined patient.  I want to be a long-term member of the Survivors Club.

        All the best,

        NDC

        • Peeve

All the best (and my prayers) for you, NDC. A little encouragement as well: a work-friend of mine was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, had her thyroid removed, and 4 months later was again diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She had surgery and chemo as well. It’s been 2 years now, and she’s doing great. She had some difficulties initially with the chemo (she was allergic to one of the components), but managed to keep working the whole time. Her husband and son both shaved their heads when she shaved hers, and she threw a bald-head party at work with pictures, breakfast, and videos. Needless to say, she’s my hero!

        • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Sweetie, you have been a friend to the blog and to us -in ways most people will never know – since the very earliest days. A true original Bitter Kitten. We wish you strength, health and fellowship in the days ahead. We’ll drop you a line privately but we wanted the rest of the Bitter Kittens to know just how much you mean to us and just how much we’re pulling for you. All the best, darling.

        • formerlyAnon

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like the real support troops are all lined up and you’ve got the attitude. Enjoy every damn thing the treatment allows you to enjoy while you’re getting through to the other side.

We, your virtual support troops, will be here. I will be regularly thinking of the ever increasing number of women I know who’ve beaten daunting diagnoses, and planning to add you to their number.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1741621869 Jacquie Scuitto

8 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and had two rounds of chemo, a mastectomy and radiation — and I am still here.  Hope things go as well for you.

        • Susan Crawford

I send you my love. You’ll be in my thoughts. My cousin is dealing with end-stage pancreatic cancer, and she has beaten the predicted survival time by six months and counting – stay strong, my dear, and stay chic! We need you in the Survivor’s Club, and here in the TLo Commentariat as well.

        • angryparsnip

I don’t comment much but I feel I know many of The Bitter Kittens … but I wanted to comment today and for you to know I am holding you in my heart for a very good outcome.

          cheers, parsnip

        • kentiesgirl

I’m a relative unknown, but have to say positive thoughts are everything, I know this for a fact. Sounds like you have great support and a lot of love going your way, which in my experience is the 90% of the fight. Keep up that determination. Sending prayers and hugs from the great plains.

      • Call me Bee

Virtual hugs flying your way, NDC.  Take good care of yourself.

      • yetanotherLaura

Prayers for the most uneventful time possible, followed by a speedy recovery and a quick return to us here at TLo Central!  Also prayers for your doc; they can always use a few extra, plus they do some truly amazing work.  It sounds like you’re in the best of hands.

        • SRQkitten

          NDC,
You also have the bitter kittens sending you huge amounts of positive energy for best positive outcomes with all of this. Glad to hear that you’ve got a support system in place! Sending you muy best wishes to set new records in the LONGterm survivors’ club!

srq (who will be more than ok with Jerrel going home)

P.s. anyone else think the producers will go for a Mondo win as he’s not only the most talented of who remains but also is from the lifetime PR vs. Bravo PR? Am I being too cynical for thinking this will be a factor?

      • holdmewhileimnaked

i also wish you well soon.
& if it is of any help, i definitely know two people who had similar, perhaps identical, problems & they recovered w/ no incidents whatsoever. & to go right back & do what they had done before [including running an entire department at a university]. just some kind of a hopeful note there, if i may.

      • UsedtobeEP

        Here’s to speedy recoveries!

    • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

No booze, but still drugged up and stoned.  Apparently now the leading contenders are swollen arteries in my head (which I’m 20 years too young for) or a blood clot in the back of my brain (which can’t be diagnosed without an MRI, which I can’t have).

But tonight I have a fun challenge — “make a pretty dress” in PR TV TIME… so instead of the day they get, I get the hour they’re actually on for.  It’s a really easy cut, though:)

      • formerlyAnon

Hmm, so are they at the end of their diagnostic rope? You just get to suffer, moderately medicated, till  you either get better or have the baby & can get an  MRI/try different meds?

Girl, you don’t seem the type for extended pity parties, but I’ll stand you a virtual pity drink since I would be a wreck trying to take care of a handful of kids without losing it were I in constant pain (though, I know, many people do so because they have no choice).  And express my devoutest wishes for the least awful diagnosis being the right one.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Well, they may do a biopsy of the artery to check for swelling, but after that the neuro consult says she can’t think of anything else to try.  My next OB trip is Monday, so he might have some ideas.  The upside is that a couple of the possibles necessitate a slightly early C-section, so I’ll be done sooner:)

          • formerlyAnon

Well, I hope it’s one of the many things that resolves, mysteriously, as the hormones shift. ASAP.

And I’ll view a slightly (i *like* that “slightly,” in the circumstances) early C-section as an upside only if you have every able-bodied adult in your circle convinced that a C-section is MAJOR abdominal surgery and you need to be waited on hand and foot.

            • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My mom has had abdominal surgery a few times and my husband is so worried (he’s gonna be in worse shape than I am if they don’t give me an answer soon:) that he won’t even bicker with me much, so that won’t be too bad.  And I had a laproscopy several years back, so at least I know what to expect:)

Right now the goal is to hit 37 weeks and done if at all possible, with pain management, but they really want to make it to at least 32 unless there’s an absolute emergency.

      • Lisa

Oh, man, I’m so sorry!  I hope they can figure out what it is and that they can help you.  We’ll say our prayers!

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Sending hugs and good vibes your way too Shannon!

      • Qitkat

Wow, Shannon, you are pregnant and have all this going on too? I had no idea. I sure hope the docs can figure out what is wrong and make it right. My heart goes out to you. Hugs.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I said last time around that I was getting too old for this — clearly, I was right!

          • Qitkat

Just picture yourself rocking that sweet little bebe, and feeling like your young healthy self again.

          • UsedtobeEP

Ugh, headache and no good meds. OWie.

      • serenitynow02

When I was pregnant many moons ago, I suddenly developed severe double vision. Every test was done and everyone whispered BRAIN TUMOR!!!!! and all sorts of deathly nonsense. They were so worried that they did an MRI, I was the only pregnant woman that had ever undergone one in this very large and well-known teaching hospital. Cut to the chase: no tumor, and still no one could figure out what was wrong; the minute that baby popped out, I was miraculously cured.

The moral of the story–those little buggers that we love so much wreak havoc on your body in ways not even doctors always understand. Here’s hoping when the baby comes, you’ll get back to your old self. Hang in there!

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Tumors have been ruled out via CT scan — as have all the nicer options, like sinus infections.  I keep telling my husband that they haven’t given me anything incurable and terminal as a possibility, so it’s going to be fine:)

As for the vision, a really good friend of mine is an eye doctor — and my eye doctor, ’cause she’s wonderful — and she won’t touch pregnant women because she says their vision goes wonky all the time for no reason!  So you aren’t alone in that one:)

      • NDC_IPCentral

Shannon, love, I am feeling your frustration and pain.  Not having a clear Dx (my dilemma) only ratchets up the anxiety and brings the boogy men looming closer.  Hope the little one in utero is developing well, and I’ll be sending you determination vibes, too.  Boy, we are the poster gals for “Whoever said life was fair?”

      • yetanotherLaura

Oh wow, that sounds seriously not fun.  Sending tons of good thoughts and prayers your way — I know how frustrating it can be not to have a dx, we went for several years before we got a dx for my daughter (a remarkably rare form of dwarfism), so sometimes all you can do is just keep putting one foot in front of the other and hoping that eventually modern medicine catches up.

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

Oh, my niece’s cousin on the other side was just diagnosed with a form of dwarfism as well.  He’s two or three and they’d been searching for the problem since he was only 5 months.  I hope your daughter isn’t having too many complications:(  I know it can be rough.

          • yetanotherLaura

Thanks, Shannon.  As it turned out, we were really lucky — her form of dwarfism has about as few complications as you can get.  Other than wearing a back brace and then having a major spinal fusion (10 vertebrae just before she turned 10), she’s been able to live as normal a life as she wants.  She’s all grown up now (well, not vertically speaking, heh) and is doing just fine.

But she grew up back before the internet and MRIs and all that good stuff, and there just aren’t a whole lot of doctors who have even *heard* of her type of dwarfism let alone seen it, so it did take us years to get the diagnosis, even though we obviously knew something funny was going on.  Diagnosis has improved by about 1000% since then in some areas — but, unfortunately, not all, as you’ve discovered!  I hope they figure out what’s causing your problems quickly and it turns out to be easily treatable and not further problem-causing!

      • Call me Bee

Also sending hugs and prayers to you!  Wow it’s been a tough week for a lot of us.  A silly diversion like PR is just the ticket tonight, eh?

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

And the superiority I get from watching PR is always welcome.  “Why would you make that ugly thing?  I would have done… ___” (Which with this batch is a bit unfair, because I’m not under the same pressures so I can think, but with people like Anya, it’s deserved!  :)

      • Peeve

Ditto to everything said before me! All the best during this scary time for you, and I hope they figure it out soon.

      • Susan Crawford

Shannon, I have lit a candle for you, and you are in my thoughts. Others have said it all, so I will not go on except to send you healing vibes.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m voting for Jerrell for the schmauf. Oh, and I’d like a Bellini please.

      • serenitynow02

I loooove Bellinis. It’s 80 degrees here today and that sounds just about perfect. Can I have one too?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Of course you can. Garçon, make that two Bellini’s. Keep mine cold, I have to get back to my real time job. (sigh)

        • Qitkat

Me three :) even though it’s been snowing on and off here.

Oh, and Jerrell or Michael can go home. I’ve been waiting for both those schmaufs waay too long.

          • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Amen, girlfriend. Here’s hoping you and I both get our wish tonight.

    • Susan Crawford

Oh, my! Laduree le Bar – one of my all-time favorite places to have a glass (or three) of perfectly chilled La Veuve Clicquot and a few delicate nibbles.

So . . . tonight’s electric challenge sounds fascinating, and I am really looking forward to seeing what our remaining All Stars come up with. Frankly, I would be perfectly happy to see Jerrell OR Michael OR Kenley leave.

Jerrell has produced one mess after another, and even his winning look was just meh.

Kenley has been a one-trick pony all along. I have not seen one iota of growth, or one half-assed attempt on her part to try to stretch herself and get out of her comfort zone.

And Michael? After last week’s tacky bow porno-toga, I am ready for him to turn out his workspace light and go.

I am concerned that Austin, who has terrible trouble managing to finish his work in the allotted time, will have a melt-down this week, and his dedication to ladylike good taste could do him in. But then I remember the Amazing Maize Dress, and I’m definitely rooting for him to pull another winner out of his chapeau.

From the previews, it seems that this challenge might just be perfect for Mondo, and I look forward to seeing how he works it.

And frankly, being a HUGE Pharrell fan, I am thrilled to death that he will be guesting.

At any rate, fellow unborn fawns and bitter kittens and let’s pop some corks tonight and remember: if you can’t say anything nice about anybody – come on over and sit right next to me!

    • dress_up_doll

I thought this place looked familiar. I’m in the mood for a litle champagne, so I’ll have a French 75. I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I think it’s Jerrell’s time to go. And, like a few other’s posted, I’m still seething and shocked they let Mila go. What a lousy decision.

    • Kate McCain

I’m worried about tonight’s challenge. The previews are talking about the dresses “lighting” themselves, so are they going to glue glo sticks all over them?

Then again, I was really excited for the last two challenges and they were kind of busts.

    • SouthernGirlRena

Oooh, this place is beautiful.  I hope my plane lands in time for me to get my picture made in front of the Eiffel Tower.  I know, terribly touristy but I’m doing it any way.  I really REALLY want Jarrell to go home but the judges already look high in the picture above so who knows.  Maybe I’ll skip the show and get pictures of the Arc de Triomphe and Cathedral of Notre Dame instead.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

      Is Georgina Chapman molting?
I’ll have some Kahlua and cream, on the rocks, s’il vous plait. And petit fours!
Jerrell should go, probably, just because he should already be gone. But I would squeal with glee if Michael C got cut down a peg and was the schmauf recipient. He is better at design, though, I grudgingly admit. I guess. I do agree with TLo that he rehashes for the pleasure of his clients. At least Jerrell is creative, even if you don’t end up liking it.

      • kimmeister

Ha, that’s one way to describe Georgina’s look.  My reaction was that she was overdressed for the occasion.

      • Call me Bee

I think with reptiles it’s just skin shedding rather than molting….

        • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ZBFH32YG44LIIZYLSQPMBXMYCU Sarah

You’re right. Oh, and I just looked back to see the reptilian-ness, and realized that look kept me from noticing the heinous illusion netting in Angela’s midsection. Ew.

          • Call me Bee

Hahahaha I didn’t notice her midriff either till you mentioned it!  Yikes.

          • formerlyAnon

It drew my eye immediately. It really is heinous, isn’t it? (And I shudder to think what that garment must have cost and it looks like that!)

    • sleepycat

double dirty Bombay Saphire Martini with an extra olive please.

    • ASK26

I like the look of Michael’s dress – though they show Kenley and Mondo smiling on the runway?

    • Sara__B

I thought (hoped?) tonight would be Jerell’s last stand until I saw the challenge. Now I’m guessing Austin will be the one to go. He seems lost, and his model isn’t helping him at all.

    • marilyn

I think your blog here is actually more interesting than the show.  I didn’t see the last two episodes because of travel, and I have not missed it at all.  The clothes have become so mediocre, that I just don’t care.  I will try watching tonight, but unless something really unusual happens, I am officially uninterested in this show.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

I’m slightly stunned that Jerrel, Kenley and Michael are still in the running at this late stage of the game.

Much as I adore Mondo I’m not happy with the idea that Rami and Mila were bumped because they – and an ‘on-form Austin’, were the most likely competition…

      • Qitkat

Me too. What a strange season this has turned out to be. I found myself forgetting it was on over half the time. My husband LOL! would remind me. We are big fans of Mondo, and he’s our hometown boy, but I really hoped the *fix* wasn’t in. But clearly the producers are playing some mind games here.

      • formerlyAnon

Yes. I feel like a bit of a conspiracy theorist even as I think it, but I AM starting to wonder if those who’ve guessed that “the fix is in” for Mondo are right.

I guess no one taught the producers that “two wrongs don’t make a right” when they were kids.  (Listen to me! As if kindergarten moralizing has ANYthing to do with reality t.v.! Ha.)

    • formerlyAnon

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like the real support troops are all lined up and you’ve got the attitude. Enjoy every damn thing the treatment allows you to enjoy while you’re getting through to the other side.

I hope you’ll be able to visit with us, here, through most of your treatment, but if not I know we’ll all be thrilled when you can return.

    • rainwood1

I’m not sure it matters who goes home on Project Mondo tonight because we all know who’s going to win but, if there’s any justice in the world, Jerell should get the schmauf.

I’ll have to start drinking heavily because those stools at the bar look tres uncomfortable. A bon sante!

    • Call me Bee

Just watching the last few minutes of last week’s episode, and I’d forgotten how fabulous Catherine Malindrino’s dress was.  I want.

    • Karen Bettencourt

A bottle of champagne please, after driving home in the snow I need it.

      • sleah_in_norcal

YAY SNOW.  maybe i won’t burn in a wildfire this summer after all.  this is only the third time snow has fallen here in norcal this winter, so keep it coming.  fortunately, i don’t have to drive in it right now.

    • Jasmaree

Pharrell is the best dressed man in the world?

      HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    • Call me Bee

Ok so I am old and do not know the hip hop guys–I don’t know who Pharrell Williams.  I know.  Lame.

      • Onymous

Pharrell isn’t super famous because he rose to fame as a producer. You might remember N.E.R.D. “Rockstar” that was Pharrell.

        • Call me Bee

          Um…no.  Guess I’m hopeless… :)

          • Onymous

Even if you don’t remember it you’ve probably heard it, I swear there was a year where it was the soundtrack to every movie trailer. and 2/3 of all TV montages.

That said, that’s the only thing of his I can think of that had any real penetration.

          • Logo Girl

            Me2

    • ChristinaRi

      Kenley scared.

      No electric polka dots?

    • lessax3

Is it just me or did you get the impression none of the designers knew who this guy is?

    • dschubba

I really do love Pharrell, but this challenge would have been so much better if it was a tie-in for Kanye West’s 2007 tour. Or Black Eyed Peas 2010 tour, even.

      • Jasmaree

Maybe even someone like Nicki Minaj. I don’t follow her music much but she does seem like she would wear something avant garde and glow in the dark.

        • dschubba

That’s an even better fit. She’d probably be game for a show like this, too.

        • kentiesgirl

All I could see was Nicki when Kenley’s model walked out.

      • sleah_in_norcal

kanye can be such an A hole, though.

        • dschubba

True, but his costuming on that tour was exactly like this.

    • Onymous

      Was Austin just huffing hairspray?

      • Stubenville

That would explain a lot of his breathless, delusional comments.

        • sleah_in_norcal

and his crappy clothes this season.

    • Stubenville

Ooh! LaDuree! I’ll have a plate of raspberry macaron and a glass of champagne

    • Karen Bettencourt

      pink taffeta, oh no!

    • holdmewhileimnaked

      hmmmm….. comment chewed.
      [jerrel leaving regardless.]

Voted ‘Best Dressed Man in the World’?

      I demand a recount!

      • sleah_in_norcal

        nobody asked me!!!

    • Call me Bee

I am not a big Kenley fan, but I really like the shirt she is wearing…

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I don’t always love what she makes, but her personal style is killer. I even love the shorts she’s wearing. And I hate shorts.

        • sleah_in_norcal

she’s definitely got the butt for shorts.

    • Wendi126

Austin looks just like Peter Pan

    • Stubenville

Kenley is making a fluorescent pink and neon green plaid. Quel surprise?

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_LGAKNANTSBR3YYEWLZDNT35IIY Whatever

Bon soir (sp) everyone. Champagne for me. I wonder how this challenge will come out. Can’t wait to see the creativity.

    • Stubenville

Austin is shooting his mouth off. He’d better deliver, because
apparently Jerrell is as unkillable as a cockroach.

    • dschubba

I dislike Kenley, but I like her idea.

    • Karen Bettencourt

It all looks very tacky at the moment.

      • Jasmaree

And none of it looks avant garde, but I guess that’s to be expected.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Michael is wide-eyed, whiny, and indecisive. Film at eleven.

      • sleah_in_norcal

they mention technology and michael says “i’ve never worked with electricity before.”  little behind the times there, benjamin?

        • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

          Heeee.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Well, how many designers are expected to incorporate lights?

    • Stubenville

      Time for the undergarment quiz!

    • Onymous

Oh fer fuck’s sake she’s doing the plaid herself and she still didn’t line up the pattern?

    • Call me Bee

I just realized that Joanna Coles has uttered the words “in the history of Project Runway” every single week this season.  Every one.
And Jerrell’s pile of fabrics is really scary. Looks like fringed embroidered Swiss and stuff.

      • Swiftlytiltingplanet

But it just sounds so amazing when she says it.

      • sleah_in_norcal

tim called, he wants his phrase back.  he’s enjoying his carribean vacation with swatch.  they’re going out to red lobster tonight.

    • dress_up_doll

Kenley’s plaid is actually kind of cute, but what was she doing with the cut-outs?

      • Stubenville

I think the cut out fabric is going over the really loud neon plaid to tone it down. Smart move.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

The brief look at Austin’s net hoop skirt made me immediately think of Chris March.

    • Karen Bettencourt

Kenley’s white cutout looks like a bathmat.

    • Cheri Lee

      Uhhhhh Austin’s mom is hawt!

    • Jasmaree

That’s Austin’s MOM? You think she’ll tell me where the fountain of youth is?

    • dschubba

I know about Pharrell and his music, but I haven’t the slightest idea which protegé this outfit would be pawned off onto.

      OMG, that’s Austin’s mom?

    • Stubenville

      Austin – loser call home?

      • Call me Bee

Oh I really feel bad for her losing her house–but they are pulling out the sad-sack stories again.  I hope this is not the loser edit.  Please?

        • Stubenville

Well, at least Austin’s mom is alive.

        • sleah_in_norcal

i’m not saying it’s no big deal, but just because your home goes into foreclosure does not mean you’re homeless.  it means you’re behind in your payments and you better come up with some money soon, but it’s not a hopeless situation.  been there.

    • http://www.thirteen.org/downton-abbey/category/the-downton-dish/ Gotham Tomato

Austin’s mom looks young! Are we sure he didn’t get her from Central Casting?

      –GothamTomato

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

What is going on with Austin’s inconsistent facial hair? It’s there when he’s in the workroom, but gone when he’s doing interviews? I guess he must have shaved it at some point?

Austin’s inconsistent facial hair will be the name of my band, BTW.

    • kentiesgirl

I hope I’m wrong (cause who doesn’t love him, regardless) but I have a feeling it’s Austin for the Schmauf after that skype. But I did miss the first few minutes, soo…

      • kentiesgirl

Ran to the keyboard straight after commercial break…sorry to anyone who already said this.

I just can’t if it’s anyone except  Mr. Ethnic Barbie. Even if he somehow blows us out of the water with the most amazing dress ever. I just can’t. I keep thinking about WWM(ila)D?

    • dschubba

Wow. Even “The Artist” has a one of those “In a world…” trailers now?

      • Call me Bee

        Yes–I think it should be…silent.

      • Call me Bee

    • lessax3

Did Austin’s Mom have him when she was 10? Very sweet, but not sure she would want the world to know her home went into foreclosure.

      • MilaXX

Well she agreed to the call and talked rather openly about it.

      • MilaXX

Well she agreed to the call and talked rather openly about it.

      • CozyCat

Hasn’t Austin been doing pretty well with his wedding design job?  Shouldn’t he be able to help his (incredibly hot and youthful) Mom out?

    • Judy_J

Austin’s mom looks younger thn he does!

    • dress_up_doll

That call home — not a good sign. But, they’ve tricked us before, so it could be a fashionably attired red herring.

      • dschubba

        Do you mean Jerell?

        • Emily Bregenzer

Well, in the shape of his garment, yes.

But Michael’s ponytail-hood is what made me go “THAT’S MCQUEEN!” and then scour the internet for a picture.

          • dschubba

Yeah, I can see the similarity.

    • dschubba

Yikes. NotHeidi’s rocking an ugly dress this week.

      • sleah_in_norcal

    • dschubba

      Kenley’s is so Nicki Minaj.

      • thekeri

It’s not just that it’s so Nicki Minaj – it’s as if Kenley called up Nicki herself and was like, “Hey girl, just throw on something in your closet and walk down the runway for me, ‘k?”

That said, I absolutely love it.

Also, I want to love Mondo’s, but he made Madonna’s Gaultier bra. Ain’t nothin’ new.

    • Stubenville

It all looks like costumes from Tron.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Michael’s outfit is lousy as fashion, but at Comicon it would be awe inspiring.

    • Jasmaree

Kenley ftw, Austin a close second.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Well OF COURSE Georgina loved Austin’s dress. It’s totally Marchesa.

My seven-year-old daughter just dubbed Michael’s dress “Carnival Ninja.”

      • Stubenville

        Clever kid.

      • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

        The next Michael Kors?

    • Cheri Lee

      YAAAAAAAAY Austin! Loved it!

    • Karen Bettencourt

      So glad Austin won

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Yeah, Austin!  But Kenley’s was pretty great too.

    • Swiftlytiltingplanet

Good for Austin, but I just don’t see it.

    • Onymous

      Jerrells teflon finally scraped off.

    • nancylee61

Thank God!!! Finally! But Michael with his stupid fake Miss Universe shock!!

    • Stubenville

The Teflon finally wore off. And frankly it was one of his best looks this season.

    • Judy_J

      Bye Jerell.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I’m happy for Austin, but I liked Kenley’s better TBH. I thought it was a lot more interesting and exciting.

    • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986/ Judy S

Austin had an advantage: in the dark you couldn’t see his model’s blank stare.

      • NCDFan

The best thing about this challenge for Austin is that his model’s crappy attitude didn’t show.

      • DinahR

Brilliant comment!  Yes, Austin must have felt like the dark was his friend.  No wonder he embraced the challenge and felt so inspired right away.  Can’t blame him.

      • sleah_in_norcal

really.  he has one of the worst models this season.  with the hairstyle this week, she was channeling sister wife.  too bad they don’t have a chance to dump the duds like in the old days.

    • kentiesgirl

      About time!

    • Judy_J

Does Austin wear a fake mustache? His upper lip is alternately hairy and hairless.

      • Onymous

I’m not entirely sure it’s even his real face some times.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

They bring the designers back for those commentary shots, and the continuity can be sloppy.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_OSYAJATXUH3QX7ZDDF52GXG4PU Janie R

I was looking really close at that and it looked like he had makeup over it. It’s so almost not there anyway, maybe when he doesn’t want it he covers it up.

    • Stubenville

Can anyone else imagine Joanna Coles saying You ARE the weakest link ?

      • Call me Bee

        Yes!!

      • Joe J

I can more easily imagine her hissing “YOU’RE here because HE turned you in… for SWEETIES”, but yeah, I can see yours as well.

    • Call me Bee

Yay Austins wins!!  I’d love to watch After the Runway, but The Hubs will not tolerate that.  So the DVR is working and I’ll watch it tomorrow.  Good night, all!  Thanks for all the giggles and drinks!

    • dress_up_doll

I’m thrilled Austin won, but I’m with Isaac. Kenley should have won this one.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Lets hope Kenley doesn’t snap right back to the 50′s next week.

She looked nice with her hair up.

      • ASK26

Kenley should have won.  Based on earlier work I didn’t think AUstin not should have been there  but as soon as they showed his Mom – I figured her was definitely in and likely would win.  (She looks young.)   Didn’t he make any money on his show with Santino?

        • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

He probably put it all into his business — most designers do, simply because it’s high overhead and you have to be ambitious enough to put everything in.

    • CozyCat

This challenge reminded me of how much I wanted that toy as a little kid, the one where you stuck the clear plastic pegs into a backlit peckboard to make pictures (wth was that called, I forget…)

      • kentiesgirl

        Litebrite! I luved that!

        • kentiesgirl

It reminded me of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding on BBC. One of those brides had a light up dress with moving butterflie. I’m not ashamed to admit the girly girl in me kinda wanted it.

          • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

My daughter had a princess costume for Halloween one year with LED fibers under the sheer top layer in the skirt… she loved it.

            • kentiesgirl

How sweet! I bet that was super adorable and street safe for trick or treating ;)

Oh I wish my daughter was still young enough to be princessed up. She’s at that age where she’s still a kid, but ‘Not a kid, Moommmm”. (imagine with the snottiest voice possible, heehee)

            • sleah_in_norcal

does she want to wear black every day and dress like a slut for halloween?  i’m dreading the onset of that phase with my granddaughter.

            • kentiesgirl

No she’s in between stages…where she’s too “old” *chuckling* for costumes, but not yet old enough to get on the slutty cat/angel/devil/and so on band wagon.

As for the all black thing, right now it’s about reigning her in fashion wise, she can’t go a week without wanting new shoes or a dress, and is constantly raiding my closet. I’m the same way though, so I can’t be mad…I may ‘occasionally’ borrow something of hers, lol.

She’ll have her rebel moment sooner or later, I’m sure (she’s the middle of five, and the only girl..so I can’t imagine her not having an acting out phase), but I’m not too stressed about it. I did, it lasted a few months, then I snapped out of it. Pretty sure if I don’t react harshly it’ll pass. It’s keeping her Dad from reacting that’s going to be the real issue.

But yes, it will be hard to see, and I’m definitely not looking forward to it.

            • kentiesgirl

              double post. oops.

Honestly I was dreading the hormonal-ness the most, but so far, so good. I was
way worse than her with the mood swings.

        • CozyCat

Yes!  That’s it.  God, how I wanted one of those….

        • angryparsnip

Me too ! I think I loved it more than my children…. we played with it quite a bit. So much fun.
          cheers, parsnip

      • lessax3

A Lite Bright. I loved mine! I was glad my kids didn’t love theirs as much. Pegs everywhere. LOL.

      • annaplurabelle

         Lite-Brite?

      • holdmewhileimnaked

        lite brite
        makin thi-ings with light
        outta sight
        makin things with lite brite

[gets stuck in my head sometimes to this day.]

        • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

i have had the song “Aye, Aye Aye Aye, I am the Frito Bandito” stuck in my head since the late 1960′s.

          • Susan Crawford

Sadly, I can still sing the whole Ipana Toothpaste jingle, and after a few sips of bubbly, I can throw in a superb impression of Bucky Beaver as well. (Good heavens – I’m SO freaking filled with trivia!)

            • Sweetbetty

               Brusha, brusha, brusha,
              With the new Ipana,

That’s where I go blank.  I also remember:

You’ll wonder where the yellow went
When you brush your teeth with Pepsodent.

            • Stubenville

OMG! That’s all of the Ipana jingle I can remember as well. My mom told me that I loved to sing it when I was a little kid!

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YAMNQMUGFM4NNSPAQLZRODSD5I Angela

Lite Brite! Those are still fun! (They really hurt  when you step on them though.)

      • CozyCat

Thanks to all of you who answered.  I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who has fond memories of that classic toy!

    • kentiesgirl

OMG it took me 15 min to get here on my phone. Darn laptop pooped out on me and I had to be ready to say something. Did they just say he had SO many great moments on all stars? LOL that right after they said it was about him being funny. No offense to Jerell or any of his fans! Im just sayin…..

    • kentiesgirl

      Joanna…HAHA swooping dead bird

    • Onymous

If Joanna is using this to audition for her own show, she’s doing a decent job.

      • Judy_J

I think she and Tabitha Coffey should be on a show together. They could be twins.

        • Melvis Velour

OMG!  You’re right!  Almost down to the accents too!

        • sleah_in_norcal

separated at birth, but reunited as they together tear apart fledgling fashion designers.

          • sleah_in_norcal

fledgling fashion designers, fledgling fashion designers…say that ten times fast after a few hours in the t-lounge.  i can hardly even type it correctly.

    • MilaXX

That makes no sense. “We know you’re all home sick, so here’s Georgina.” What a wacky show.

      • piperkitty

Is she some sort of consolation prize for family? It made no sense, watch Michael’s face when her nama was said. lol

    • kentiesgirl

I am not a phone typer my finger’s going numb…wait is it in her contract to say gorgeous everytime shes introduced? Any way thanks for a fun first lounge! Night all!

    • Girl_With_a_Pearl

Did an intern produce this After the Runway Show?

      • Onymous

I don’t know if you meant it as a compliment or not, but it does seem to have a lack of the usual B/M shit-stirring.

        • Girl_With_a_Pearl

LOL.  No.  My idea of a compliment would be, this feels like the Magical Elves produced this.

      • annaplurabelle

Are they really asking them – in this post-finale taping – to “predict” who will not go on to the finale, and why?!! Were they coached to throw us off track?
Austin’s crying and no Mondo seemed like a tell, to me. That’s what I
hate about this After the Runway show most of all. What’s the point?

    • Onymous

Oh god no, don’t listen Mondo, don’t share, don’t let it out, stay drama free.

      • annaplurabelle

mondo’s hair is channeling the bob’s big boy.

      • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

omg snorted by hot tea reading this one.  xoxo

    • PastryGoddess

Michael C is still here.  The bus is not going into the garage until he is gone.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I almost forgot to watch–just caught from the runway on.  I actually liked most of them this week.  I felt like I was watching All-Stars or something.

I’d have had a hard time choosing the winner between Kenley and Austin; they were so different that it just amounted to a taste choice, or a choice about the needs of the guest host for the prize.  For my own taste, I liked Austin’s better.  It was like a delicate sculpture that was made to be worn.   Very pretty and fantastical.  Kenley’s was also fabulous, though.

Mondo did not impress me.  Those boobs scared me.

Between Michael and Jerrell, I’m afraid I’d have booted Michael just because he annoys me, but the two dresses were about equal, honestly.  The styling is probably what did Jerrell in… again.

      • sleah_in_norcal

i was surprised by austin’s win because it didn’t seem appropriate for ferrell’s hip-hop clients,  can’t imagine anyone dancing in it without lights flying off all over the stage (actually, that might be kind of cool.)  it would look cute on nicki minaj, though, with a turquoise wig.  don’t know if she’s associated with ferrell.  the image of dancing those lights off reminds me of an old soupy sales joke, one of those which got him kicked off tv.  he was dressed up like a christmas tree and wildly dancing all over the set when he says “hey, i’m dancing my balls off!”

    • ASK26

I think Austins should not have won and should have been bottom two – (with Jerrell).  It looked like the lights WERE just tossed on at the last minute.  like he threw the string in hte air and pushed his model under them while they fell

      • NCDFan

I think that effect is actually quite difficult to achieve.

        • ASK26

I disagree.  In fact IRC he didn’t even have the lights attached most of the way through  – some of the other designer said he’d thown them on .  And I thought it looked sloppy

      • pippitypup

Austin’s was what I would call ‘expected’. Kenley hit it out of the park.

      • kentiesgirl

Like spraying everyone in the store with hairspray and jumping under it?  Perhaps that is his secret technique.

Random, but the first image that popped in my head. Also that that’s how my Mom taught me to put on hairspray and perfume. My bathroom was constantly sticky and smelly thruout the 80s no matter how much I cleaned it.

    • Logo Girl

When they asked Kenley on After the Runway about missing her boyfriend, I kept flashing on cat claws. And how many people they think they are fooling since the actual show was filmed half a year ago and that nobody is missing anybody right now (which I am guessing must have been about a three weeks ago because that is when Mondo did that Goodwill thing which I only know because it was in the news here in CO).

    • Imrastro

My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

i wonder what people actually get for being on this program. other than exposure, i mean. cos most of the people on this particular reality show arent all that crazy about getting outsized gargantuan dollops of attention from strangers. thats not their motivation. i hope they at least get paid under the table, that & introduced to good work contacts. cos so much of it now seems so fake & i keep going back to the word demoralizing–no matter who wins. i’m glad austin won, always liked austin. i’m glad mondo’s probably gonna win even bigger, always liked him too. but it would be a whole lot more resonant, at least for me, if the thing were truly run as a meritocracy. then again, nothing is. so it’s stupid to hope that about a television show.

      tired, here.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1046681022 Paula Berman

Question about Austin winning: why was is OK that Austin basically strung Christmas lights all over a pretty but not avant garde dress, but Kenley wrapped her lights around the net and it’s somehow not OK? I am NOT a Kenley lover at all, but hers was the clear winner. It was so anime and cool.  Off topic, but was Austin’s mother 12 when she had him? She looks so youthful.

      • Stubenville

I think the unarticulated key criterion was actually wearability and Austin’s was the least daring, so it won.

Austin’s extremely young looking mom? Plastic surgery perhaps? Maybe he was adopted?

        • sleah_in_norcal

i think austin’s mom found him under a leaf in the garden when when she was a child, and kept him as a pet.

      • BrooklynBomber

I thought Kenley would win, though I thought Austin’s was very effective. I think that how the lights were applied became irrelevant when they made the final decision, which probably was based on which had more dramatic potential as stagewear.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_HBS4KWJ6XTPDEL2JMD37ZS5YHA Ben

I’m shocked that people think Austin simply strung the lights around the dress. You need a sense of structure and intention on how to lay out those lights to achieve the galaxy effect, and I think he nailed it perfectly. A well-deserved winner IMO. I really like Kenley’s work too but all I can think of is Korto’s seat-belt coat in Season 5.

      • jhedman

Korto’s seat-belt coat was awesome because she wove the seatbelts to make the fabric.  Kenley’s coat fabric was used in the same condition in which it was purchased.  It’s an upholstery fabric, typically used *under* cushions — it’s a support fabric, hence its stiffness.  It was a genius purchase for an avante garde challenge, but I thought the use was pretty lame.  I hated the proportions that all the judges seemed to love, everything looked too big to me.  And Kenley made the same damn dress again, just this time she taped a neon plaid pattern over it (which was pretty cool), and camoflaged it with the supermesh jacket, which was also kind of cool but IMO there was something wrong with the proportions.

        • DinahR

haha, yeah.  I was lmao at the ‘Kenley, you did something different’.  Uh, not really.  She just used glo tape and a weird jacket to camouflage it.  Which is totally fine and looked good, but really Isaac.  Don’t pretend like you’ve never seen this before.  Is it that different because there are no polka dots or twee fabric?

    • Susan Crawford

      Buh-bye, Jerrell.

And despite some reservations which I am sure TLo’s screen-caps will clarify, yay for Miz. Scarlett! My major complaint about PRAS is that the runway photography is so weirdly out of sync and so nouvelle vague, hand-held camera shaky and poorly lit that it is really hard to study the details of the design in movement. But I found myself smiling broadly at Austin’s work, and feeling excited for him when his finished design glowed it’s way along the catwalk.

I really thought he was getting the “loser edit” for a while there, but it was just a Bunim/Murray ploy after all. Silly me!

I was disappointed by Mondo’ work – honestly, I thought he would nail this challenge to the wall, but he seemed to run out of his old pizzazz. But he was MILES ahead of Michael and Kenley.

And so, as I slowly sink into the mattress after our big night at La Duree le Bar, sloshing the dregs of my final flute of champagne and getting almond mararon crumbs all over the cat, I have just enough strength for a little prayer:

      Good health, great comfort and peace to all the dear, bitter little kittens in need of a special hug;
      More thanks to T and Lo for picking up yet another bar tab on our behalf, and for all their hijinks that keep us happy;
And next week, Lord, may all the Angels of La Couture descend upon Michael and bear him aloft, depositing him gently but firmly back in Palm Springs in the name of all the unborn fawns, Amen.

      Nighty-night, everyone!

      • Truly_Outrageous

        Amen sister!

      • kentiesgirl

I, too, always miss the movement of the dresses, cause the camera work and strobe light effect-this goes for PR too-give me a headache and I end up closing my eyes. Kinda ridiculous for a show about the runway work, but whatevs. That’s why I depend on this blog.

    • Bozhi

      NOOO. Not Jerrell!!

I thought his was a lot better than Michael’s.  I love Michael as a person, but he is a dressmaker, not a designer.  I know Jerrell is off the grid most of the time, but he is a designer.

    • SewingSiren

Well that was a fun episode. I thought it was going to be dreadful. I disagreed slightly with the win. I figured Kenley deserved it , with Austin second and then Mondo.
Between Jerrel and Michael . I would have sent Michael home. Jerrel’s was a Fiesta Flambeau parade float, but it did have nice movement. Micheal’s was a homemade Halloween costume.

      • BrooklynBomber

I thought Kenley was due for the win, too, and the gues judge said he liked it best. But Austin’s dress probably won because of how it’d look on stage.

        • ASK26

In the After the Show – Isaac said that Kenley should have won.

          • BrooklynBomber

Yes. I think if they’d taken the “it’s going to be worn by an actual client” piece out of it, Kenley’s probably would have won. But whenever the garment is going to be worn by a celebrity or featured on a billboard or in a magazine, the decision shifts from what the judges think is best from a fashion standpoint to what’s deemed best for the client or billboard or magazine.

    • Lisa

Late to the game, because I can only read, but not post, from my work computer – so I just wanted to send all my love, good vibes, and healing thoughts to our Bitter Kittens who are having health issues right now.  We’re all here for you, and sending good thoughts for complete and speedy recoveries!
