Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for Vogue Brazil

Posted on March 30, 2012

Oh, that reminds us.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley featured in the April 2012 issue of Vogue Brazil photographed by Henrique Gendre and styled by Luis Fiod.  She wears an Animale Fall 2012 look on the cover.

Can you believe Lorenzo had never seen Alien before? Tom just made him watch it and he ran out to buy the Blu-Ray a couple days later because he loved it so much.

Pretty girl in pretty clothes, looking pretty. This isn’t rocket science, y’know.

I’m so confused by the cutout (?) in the middle of her top.  Need to go take an Advil and rest my eyes …

    • Lori

I think it’s worse than a cutout. I think it’s illusion net. Oy.

      • giiiirrrr

Oh dear god, it’s an Alien/figure skating mashup.  Blades of Gory.

    • joe_tey83

The cutout is where the alien baby is supposed to emerged.

  • terpsichory

Now look who’s spending some quality time with herself there. You go girl!

      * burst out snort-laugh and getting massive side-eye in the library now *

She should really stick to modeling. She has a really beautiful face.

As soon as I saw the cutout on that dress on the cover, I thought of Alien. And then you guys said it! Twinsies! (tripleties? tripsies?)

    • Nelliebelle1197

I just don’t find her beautiful. In fact, I find her face off-putting. Maybe the out of proportion lips? But beauty, like art and taste, is subjective…..

To me it’s beautiful in the way that she pretty much has all of the features that are generally considered photogenic. She looks pretty great from just about any angle.

        • Nelliebelle1197

Like I said, subjective! But I did see the proportion thing and figured you meant something like that!

  • Jessi03

    I’ve never seen Alien/s, either!

    • drdirection

      ditto. or Close Encounters

      • Jessi03

Oh, that’s a good one! Haven’t seen it in nearly 15 years, but I loved it as a kid.

      • Violina23

I finally saw Close Encounters about a year ago… I was underwhelmed after all the build-up.  Alien has a place as a good horror film in a sci-fi setting.  (Aliens, on the other hand, is more of a sci-fi action film).

        • cleep1000

Close Encounters doesn’t hold up. But both the first and second Alien movies are pretty much still awesome. The second one is more of an action flick, (but very well done action). The first is extremely suspenseful, especially if you don’t know that much about it. See them, already.

    • Frank_821

Alien can be best described as an old fashion, genuinely scary suspense-horror flick masquerading as a sci-fi film that happens to contain 1 of the top ten most effective shock scenes in a hollywood film. Which of course said scene is being referenced here

Aliens is a relentless, non-stop (literally) action film typical of James Cameron that cemented Sigourney Weaver as a pop culture icon. The female producer of that film kept it on a no-frills budget so the money it brought in was virtually all profit

      • Terence Ng

And Aliens is far better than Alien, in my opinion. I mean, I in no way want to sully Alien, which I love, but I really feel that Aliens is one of those rare films that went above and beyond its predecessor. Aliens was and is great. Aliens was like getting piping hot, molten, joy pumped directly into your rectum, as they say over at Penny Arcade.

      • Violina23

Alien is to Terminator  what Aliens is to Terminator 2.   In both cases, the first film was more of a horror picture, and the second was more of an action/adventure.

    • drdarke

ALIEN is one of the few genuinely terrifying films I’ve ever seen – which means it only really works once, because the second time around you’re busier “appreciating” how well Scott commands his camera than you are having the living daylights scared out of you.

ALIENS, on the other hand? Is a great action movie which happens to star really scary-looking monsters – it’s in our DVD Permanent Collection, and will be in our Blu-Ray one once I get around to ordering it.

  • Anna Daugherty

Like, is that a cut-out? Why is there depth? But where is her skin? And boobs?

    • Tadiana

Exactly! I can’t figure out if it’s excessive photoshopping or she’s wearing something underneath.

      • Terence Ng

There seems to be texture in the window. I think there’s a top under there.

  • 3boysful

The Alien top would look better with some jeans or leather pants.

    • Maggie Muellner

Agree. The overall effect is too much. Go for baroque…

  • lifetime_student

Are those snakes crawling out of, or into, her vagina? The top is…interesting, but the pants give me the creepy crawlies.

    • Sara Munoz

      O!M!G! I can’t unsee that now.

  • Sara__B

She looks painful to me: photo #1 – abdominal surgery; #2 – ear ache; #3 – head ache/hung over. I’ve seen her look much much prettier.

  • NinaBoo

CLOSE YOUR MOUTHES, MODELS OF THE WORLD!!!!  In the pretty pictures, I mean. Not trying to squelch your freedom to speak your mind.

  • gillian holroyd

    Animale? bwahahaha!

    Sorry, private joke.

  • Judy_J

The open-mouth, fish out of water look has become positively annoying. My new label for this look: Napoleon Dynamite.

    • Rrroza

      Seconding this!

  • Anathema_Device

Not seeing Titanic, I can understand, but Alien is just amazing, even if you’re not normally a sci-fi fan. And I love that the top she is wearing on the cover jogged your memory.

And no, this isn’t rocket science. Truth be told, she looks a bit vapid in these pics.

  • nancylee61

Oh, what is that out the window?? I am so surprised. Not!

She just seems so vacuous. Snoozeville.

  • kelsita421

i just can’t with that cut out. the more i stare, the more the confusion.

  • Karen Stephens Bassett

    Jason Statham is still MINE!

  • krelnick

In the top picture, I don’t see “Alien” so much as “Creature from the Black Lagoon.”  The other two are more, “I’ve forgotten how to stand!”

  • granddelusion

    Wow. Alien AND Titanic.

  • Shannon Stewart

I find her face kind of odd in motion but DAMN, the girl can take a fantastic still shot!

Also, does Lo really not like seeing movies that are popular?  Just wondering after the Titanic convo the other day and now Alien…

  • kimmeister

Her upper lip will never not bug me.

  • marilyn

The injection to her lips was too big, and she is starting to look like a duck.  Quack, quack, quack……..

  • holdmewhileimnaked

gorgeous gorgeous top. which is weird, in its way. i looked up the label &, my heavens, it appears to be the only interesting thing theyve ever made. to go from bland sportswear to something that intricately unusual is an unusual leap.

    edited to add:
    dear lorenzo,
ibid, once again [other than the current showcase & post-purchase].
    there are some of us…..

  •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Alien was on cable when I was about 6 months pregnant.  Happened to walk into the room right at the pivotal chest-bursting scene, lost my hormonal mind, and have never watched a scary movie again.

    True story.

    • Lisa

Well, I can see why you were scarred!

  • PeaceBang

The Alien top makes her boobs look like they have eyes. But that doesn’t bother me as much as the DUH face she has going on in all these photos. In the second and third shot she looks like she’s just too dumb to figure out how to stand, so she has to loll on a bed all day, mouth-breathing. Not hot.

  • Pants_are_a_must

I’ve just realized that she looks like a boring version of Rachel Weisz. That is, Rachel Weisz before she did whatever she did to her face.

  • Lisa

Yeah, the outfit on the cover looks like rococo jammies.  But the rest is gorgeous!

    • sleah_in_norcal

      nothing wrong with rococo jammies.

  • ASK26

She is pretty but somehow – and iguess the mouth open contributes- but also the eye expression, makes her look a little slow

    • j_anson

Yeah, to me she always reads as “vapid but blessed with fantastic bone structure”.

  • MilaXX

    Rose gives good face.
What happened in Lorenzo’s past that he missed so many major movies? Original Aliens is awesome.

  • quiltrx

MAKE HIM WATCH THE OTHER THREE!!!!  Aliens is definitely the best, 3 is underrated (must watch more than once), and 4 is the most fun.  (Hubby and I are crazy about the Alien series, if you can’t tell.)

Oh, and I still think this broad looks like a vapid mannequin, but that outfit on the cover is pretty cool.

    • CatherineRhodes

I agree with you on all points. Which Alien had the marines come in and Sigourney famously saying, “Get away from her, you bitch”? I get them confused, but truly great.

Completely with you on your assessment of Rosie. Irrational celebrity hate.

      • poggi

That’s Aliens, my favorite. It had all the best lines. Bill Paxton whining ” game over man” and the little girl with ” the mostly come at night, mostly.”. Although the mother to mother line you quoted is probably the most memorable.

  • sleah_in_norcal

put that girl in anything and she looks drop dead gorgeous.  but i agree, looks like she’s no einstein.  guess when you look like that you don’t have to think, so she never developed the skill.

  • Presumptuous Insect

I know she is supposed to be a great beauty and all, but I think she looks bizarre.

    • rawrgrowlrawr

To me she looks like a manifestation of every aesthetic quality Western culture has told us to worship. Because of this, I find her boring to look at. She is undoubtedly beautiful, but there is nothing unusual to offset any of her “perfect” features.

  • cleep1000

The third picture is stunning. She looks like she belongs on Mad Men.

  • Jecca2244

How are you born with a face that pretty. wow.

  • judybrowni

Oh, he should have seen Alien back in the ’70s when it opened on a giant screen in NYC.

So great they had to run it 24 hours a day to deal with all the paying public.

  • KathKo

So Lorenzo has good taste, prefering Alien over Titanic.
    Smart boy.

  • guest2visits

Huh. I’m the only one who thinks that top is amazing and beautiful. I’d wear it if the center was opaque.
She looks silly rolling around in bed though.

  • Terry Weyna

Oh, my.  Your reference to Alien in relationship to that dress had me chortling aloud.  Nice writing, boys.

  • CatherineRhodes

I find the super-plumped lips to be revolting. Dunno if they’re real or collagen, it’s just a look I personally despise.

Also, she just looks dumb, in the way that some celebs just look smart. She’s just too Stepford for me. I’ll take Emma Stone or Rooney Mara anyday — they at least project sass and personality.

    • Tiger Gray

I was just thinking that about the lips.

    • Linderella

I agree, but it’s not just the fullness of the lips, it’s the refusal to ever completely close her mouth that kind of creeps me out.  There’s something a bit feral about it–Keira Knightley does this as well, to my everlasting annoyance.

  • Emmyllou

First “Titanic,” now “Alien”—you just carry on. It’s a big fabulous World O’ Film out there.
