Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Accessories

Posted on March 15, 2012

Ladies, is your day stressing you out? Are you already tired of dealing with stupid people today? What you need is some me time and we have just thing to help you find your center. Accessories, darling. God’s little answer to so many of life’s little annoyances. If we could all have the accessories we want and deserve, wouldn’t the world be a better place? Who could stay angry if they’ve got a kicky purse or kickass pair of shoes on? No one we want to know, that’s for sure. And since Oscar de la Renta lives to make pretty things for the ladies, let’s all turn to him for our mid-day pick-me-up.  It’s Marie Antoinette-in-Manhattan/Versailles-on-the-Hudson embodied in a collection of glittery fantasy pieces with a touch of old world glamour married to modern urban chic. The bags are classic, streamlined and sturdy and the shoes are TO DIE. Have fun fantasy-shopping, gals.

  • Call me Bee

    Oh the shoes…are so dreamy…!  I die.

    • ballerinawithagun

      I’m right there with you!

      • Carla_Charlton

Me, too!  And not a platform among them…

  • RebeccaKW

Love the shoes.  Just wish the glittery ones were rounded toes.  I look like I’m wearing canoes when I stick my size 10’s in a pointy pair.

    • Louise Bryan

How do you think my size 10.5’s look?  Not that I have many choices with that size.

  • I like the accessories in context, but when I see them alone…kind of ugly.

    • ccm800

  • BazoDee

I don’t like the line of the half bootie style shoes -I just never like shoes that break on the upper instep -although I love the details. Now I do adore the purses.

  • I WANT EVERY SINGLE THING. Except the hairy things.

    • Lori

What is up with all the hairy things this season? Do designers think we’re missing the days when we were allowed to carry a stuffed animal everywhere we went? If that’s it, I can assure them that I am not.

      • Credit to Chris March, though… he saw this coming MILES away.

    •  Seriously, the purse with the hair on it looks like someone jacked some weave from the wig shop!  Icky

  • Ms_Flyover

While I still have a knee-jerk negative reaction to this collection, I would love to have that blue clutch first row up from the bottom.  Absolutely love the colors and the simplicity of the design.

  • ChaCha_70

Oh my gosh, TLo. Thank you for this post. DREAMY!

  • Is Oscar stealing Chris March’s human-hair-as-trim idea?  Because I remember Orange Kors having a fit about it, and it seems a few designers actually picked up on it.  That being said, Oscar always gets it right.  I covet the blue suede with buckles.  And I typically
    hate booties.

  • Now I’m sad. I want.

  • lrhoff

    I’ll take it ALL!!

  • Susie Pamudji

I like all of these, even the bag with bangs.

  • TheOriginalLulu

How did you guess I’m stressed out and ready to strangle my fascist boss?
    No really.
This post speaks to me. I’ll take one of each, except the hairy bag, which I’ll set free so some other girl can have it.

    • AthenaJ

Same here – I think if I brought that hairy bag home, my male dog would try to hump it.

  • I dunno. The neo-ladylike trend has exhausted itself for me. I recognize the quality, but don’t feel it in my heart.

  • Everything is GORGE! (Except for the fur boots. They’re straight out of WTF-land.)

  • Rebecca Johnson

I hope hope hope that fishnets come back as a real option for the office. They are a great option for those weird in-between weather months, yet I get jokes about my hourly rates when I wear them to the office 🙁

    • Farthingale

Go buy some and you will make it a real “option”. Set the trend my dear.

      • Rebecca Johnson

I *do* wear them…and I get hourly rate jokes.

        • amywinns

Even beige ones? I like the relatively subtle texture they offer. I can see black being more of a negative association. Or maybe try a different pattern style, to disconnect them from those associations.
Also, it’s possible you work with assholes.

    • I work in an office and I wore fishnets yesterday with an a-line dress and flats.  Received no jokes, only compliments. I love fishnets and buy a few different kinds every year to mix with my tights.

  • The second, and most especially the third (ballet-ish) shoe literally make my heart soar.

    • fallen_ikon

I would sell my husband for the third pair of shoes.

      • Aarjullor

I actually gasped and got goose bumps when I saw that pair, WANT!

  • snarkykitten

oh god I hope white fishnets don’t become a thing

    • AthenaJ

White fishnets – they’re not just for naughty nurse costumes anymore!

  • Well, if I need to carry just my credit cards and passport, and maybe a key, I’ll know exactly what purse to get for that occasion.

  • greatscoutm

Ah!  Just what I needed!  Beautiful, gorgeous, inspired!  Thanks, TLo

  • Sara__B

Too girlie and matchy for me, but very nice for the ladies who like this sort of stuff.

  • kentiesgirl

“Who could stay angry if they’ve got a kicky purse or kickass pair of shoes on?”

So that’s how my husband manipulates me. Darn, men know our weaknesses and that they are not gas station flowers.

Heehee, I just LOVE that whole paragraph. It’s refrigerator worth. Accessories, darling! Don’t get mad that you ran out of milk and kid #3 got a detention. Just look at your shoes. 😀

And I LOVE that shoe with the bow so freakin much!!!! Squee!

  • MilaXX

Love every shoe except the Clydesdale ones, love every bag except the brown one.

  • allj

I would cut a bitch for any of those purses. Swoon!

  • DeborahLipp

    Wow those shoes. Wow.

  • Amy Ellinger

    So. Much. Want.

  • crash1212

I would like: the blue sweater at left in row 4;  and the entirety of left in last row. Also, does Chris March know that Oscar stole his ‘hair’ for the bag in row 6? Scandal.

  • Pupioso

    Fabulous! Love them all!

  • I’m sorry but the only things I don’t hate, I don’tr hate because they’re boring. The only one I can imagine buying is the brown purse and I wouldn’t go over $30.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

Looking at these shoes, I feel like Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer — “See, Want, Take!!”

  • Took a break from paperwork. Thanks guys! Love all! Need All. Paying bills. getting none.

  • Wendy Wetzel

Fishnets?  Oh come now…..  love the bag… but booties make my legs look like tree stumps.  How bout shoes for real women?

  • I think Oscar de la Renta is the only designer whose work I always, ALWAYS adore. He just understands so perfectly how to make a gal feel beautiful.

  • Wow. For the first time, I can totally see myself in a head-to-toe runway look.  Everything in that first shot is perfect – and I dearly hope fishnets make a return.  All the polish of hose with none of the strangling & suffocation!

(Ironically, I’m shoe shopping today and now I’m absolutely guaranteed to be disappointed)

    • Farthingale

So buy some fishnets and make your own dreams come true. Love the nude ones.

  • Laurie Bergman

“Accessories, darling. God’s little answer to so many of life’s little annoyances.”  I just love you guys. (And to stay on topic: that pink jeweled elongated hexagonal clutch beauty totally made up for my lunchtime leftovers.)

  • Laylalola

Love the shoes — but the fabric for the dresses is just generally a big no.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

even though i liked the pale bow shoe business i thought these were all way too conservative for me–until, that is, i saw the blue fur topped boots. here’s to my ever eternal hope that that fur is either fake or seriously old & reused [&, believe me, if anyone understands much hope is false i do stand accused]. but wow.

  • fauxhawk

    Shoe climax!

  • mjude

    i want the brown purse

  • hughman

The purses are ok, the shoes are pretty but what really steals the show is the fishnets. Oh yes please to seeing that become a thing again.

  • CozyCat

    Just found out I didn’t get a job I applied for.  Sigh….

But at least a top designer has finally come out with some pretty, pretty shoes rather than shoes that look like animal appendages, so there’s still reason to hope for the future of humanity.

  • formerlyAnon

That satin shoe with the bow will never be for me, but it deserves to be a classic. It is so very, very, very, perfectly what it is.

ETA: it’s the kind of thing that makes people fantasize about being stylists so that they can dress others in things they cannot/would not wear themselves. [fantasies – so nice without all the work and drama of reality]

  • Shoes are not doing it for me today but I’ll take one each of the bags and clutches.  I don’t even use a clutch.  But I’ll try with these.  Where is my fantasy money?

    • Stubenville

      Where is my fantasy money?

First Imaginary Bank & Trust?  =)

  • MzzPants

Love the shoes!  The bags are nice.

  • Gorgeous.  Just gorgeous.  Those deconstructed spectator pumps are amazing.

  • Yummy shoes.

  • Solutions- The first step toward a cure is to know what the disease is.

  • The shoes are so beautiful.  I hope this means angry hoof shoes are going away for a while.

  • gabbilevy

Those black and white shoes!! Yummmm. Also, any of the hexagonal clutches. Beautiful, eyecatching, different. Love.

  • Tigrrl

Oh! Le sigh! So beautiful, I can’t remember the last time I thought shoes looked tempting. Does this mean we’re finally getting over the hooker look in shoes? Pretty please? And with the sole exception of the monkey fur bag, the other pieces are also swoon-worthy.

  • Anathema_Device

Oh my god. Sighing and drooling over those shoes.  I’d have to ask my fairy godmother to cure my rheumatoid arthritis first, THEN I’d ask her for the never-ending funds that would allow me to buy these shoes and give me the lifestyle that goes with them.

  • Sophie Collier

    So. Much. Want.

  • NurseEllen

Those pink satin ones with the bow are making me jealous.  And who knew that fishnet stockings would EVER come back, let alone be worn by Oscar de la Renta models?

  • PeaceBang

I want all of you who love these to BUY them and WEAR them so that I can see you walk by and sigh with appreciation at your fabulous accessories. Especially the shoes. Especially the pink with the bow and the — aw hell, all of them.

  • butter nut

  • aristida_girl

Love, especially the muppet boots, so pretty! Alas I will never be able to wear them in Arizona….

  • newtonGOTbeaned

I kind of hate those shoes. They look fie with the rest of the outfits on the runway, but they’re not cute on their own.

  • OneTwoThreeFashion

  • BrightsideSusan

    Row 3 for me, please.

  • I’d have really liked those black boots if they were knee high.  Never understood that in between length.  With pants, maybe – but with embellishment?  Cries out to be seen.  In between lengths chop up the legs.  Ruins the look (in my opinion).  Just not my cuppa.  Those others though…..yum, yum!  And the bags!  Yum, yum with sprinkles on top!

  • Susan Crawford

One of each, please. Loving the last pair of shoes with the wonderful embellishments . . . most of all! Oscar, Oscar, Oscar – another great collection.

  • tinyredlocks

The shoes! The shoes! OMG! The shoes! LOVE….

  • One of everything but the stuff made from a wookie hide.

  • One of everything but the stuff made from a wookie hide.

  • god, this post is such a fucking tease!
