Lea Michele for Prestige Magazine

Lea Michele models the latest in beachwear for Prestige magazine:

Lea Michele featured in the March 2012 issue of Prestige Hong Kong magazine photographed by Darren Tieste and styled by Paris Libby. Makeup: Frascesca Tolo for Cloutier Remix. Hair: John D for Tenfold Talent.

Who’s up for some volleyball?

Okay, so maybe a bejeweled Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit isn’t the most practical look in the world, but in all fairness, she looks pretty gorgeous in all the shots. The styling never gets to be more than the “do her up pretty and put her in a dramatic dress” school of thinking, but we doubt she could handle anything edgy and besides, they did a semi-decent job of toning down the ever-present duck lips and sexytimes posing.  That McQueen dress is gorgeous on her but she’d probably never wear it in real life for fear her legs will shrivel up and fall off from lack of exposure to air and light.

I actually really like her in the Zac Posen gown. The whole setting appeals. Her body looks fantastic, her hair is beautiful and I like the makeup. And no duck lips at all in that one.

    • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

Yeah, she looks really gorgeous in that one.

    • Pinup Ghoul

       I so agree.
Dear Lea: NEVER TAKE OFF THAT DRESS. YOU LOOK INCREDIBLE IN IT. Make Zac Posen your best. friend. ever.

      • Cousin_Rose

Totally agreed. She looks pretty much perfect in the Zac Posen

        • AudreysMom

Yes – it’s just that she looks like she’s coming in from the patio because she has to pee.

      • Ms_Flyover

Oh, no.  A rare anomaly of a terrific dress by Zac Poser is just that.  She looks great in it, but wearing 90% of his stuff would place her on a what was she thinking list.

  • RebeccaKW

Didn’t we see that Versace on someone recently?

The bodysuit is gorgeous but completely impractical.  I will save that for lounging on my yacht off the coast of Spain.

She doesn’t look bad, but I don’t care for that Zac Posen dress.

    • lovelyivy

Katy Perry cover had a similar two-piece bodysuit, but no idea on the dress. It does look really familiar.

      • RebeccaKW

Maybe that’s what I’m thinking of.

I’m not complaining that I’ve seen it before, just wondering if I’m remembering correctly.

        • MilaXX

wasn’t that dress or one similar to it part of the H & M collection?

        • shirab

          Nicole Kidman, maybe?

          • PhillyDeb

Nicole Kidman wore a long grey one to the Golden Globes, and the short white one was floating around on someone…Kate Bosworth?

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel
        • NC_Meg

Ah, yes. I knew I had seen it before but thought ScarJo wore it. Not sure how I got those two mixed up.

    • dschubba

I think Lindsay Lohan wore it on SNL this past weekend.

    • kimmeister

I want to say it was Cate Blanchett who wore the Versace, but I can’t seem to find it . . .

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3JSTXMWWVZN2QNP2UEKJMTWD7U Isabel

If we remove all the stuff at the bottom, the bodysuit would look great and be comfortable with pants or skirts. Hope she got to take that one home.

  • marilyn

The Zac Posen dressis the best for her.  Everything is perfect.  The rest-hohum.

  • warontara

*Yawn.* She makes everything look so boring…generic, in a way. It’s the pedestrian posing and “facebook sexytime” facial expressions. I know she’s not a model, but egads!!

In other news, I really want that Versace dress.

  • Addicted2Glamour

Yawn….At the very least I can now cross “modeling” off the long list of things I know she cannot do.

  • MinasAunt

She looks better than usual but I still don’t think that “sexy” is the way to go with her.  I don’t know what it would take for me to look at her and think that she isn’t trying too hard.  It’s like you can practically see the fumes of her insecurities/need to be thought off as irresistible wafting of her.  It’s really exhausting.

  • kirble

I dunno about the McQueen dress. It has a Ren Faire vibe that screams (perhaps a bit too loudly) FLORENCE WELCH.

    • kingderella

my thoughts exactly… lea michele is going flo welch!
only i think thats a positive thing.

  • http://twitter.com/asciident Melissa Brogan

Someone needs to give the girl some modeling tips. Even when she’s lying down, it’s the same pose as when she’s standing up. Ho hum. It’s hard to tell from the distance, but the Tom Ford dress looks nice on her. Might be a little tight around the hips. I don’t like the Zac Posen because the red seems to stop before her waist (just odd). And naturally she looks gorgeous in the Alexander McQueen, but she’d never wear it outside a photoshoot.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

The koi pond photo is weird to me, she looks wide and stumpy. Is it the shoes? the fish? Otherwise, she looks really pretty. Of course.

  • TieDye64

She looks really good in the McQueen and the Zac Posen. And no duck lips! Bonus.

  • hughman

They all look like “before” shots in Zoloft ads.

“I was feeling moody, depressed, unsure of where and who I was… then my doctor recommended…”

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Laughed Out loud at this. thanks.

    • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

       ”unsure of where…” LOL!!

  • holdmewhileimnaked

she doesnt have the personality of a streisand & she doesnt have the looks of a [fill in the blank. you pick]. she has about half the level of ambition of madonna, so she will last a little while. but w/o either of the abovenoted even now she wont last forever as a celebrity. so she might as well get it while she can. as someone once said. about something of much more consequence. as ever.

    • alyce1213

She also doesn’t have the voice of Streisand.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

She’s close- a really good imitation. If she manages to grow a personality she’ll do OK

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1344922354 Eric Scheirer Stott

Will be interesting to see what happens when she’s an actual adult instead of this faux adult.

    • EditKitten

She does have a long career on Broadway, however, should she decide she’s OK with “settling” for that.

  • Judy_J

She looks supremely uncomfortable in the Alexander McQueen dress.

  • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

It’s weird, but half of these make her look like she was cropped out of a different photo and pasted in front of a new background, like they couldn’t afford either different sets or a greenscreen. The worst offender is the koi pond one. She looks like a plastic figurine in front of a painting. But I do really like the shot where she’s in the Tom Ford.

    • Pennymac

I agree. I just kept getting some kind of “stiff” vibe.

      • formerlyAnon

I think that’s her standard ‘I am posing” vibe.

  • http://theondioline.wordpress.com/ WA

Oh, what an ironic name for a magazine.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Wow, for once I don’t want to run screaming from the room when I see her trying WAY too hard to be a sexpot. In that russet and black Zac Posen gown she looks totally gorgeous and classy.  More of this PLEASE, Lea.

  • MilaXX

I think she looks good in all of the dresses, but sultry isn’t that big of a step up from duck lips & sexy times poses.

  • jilly_d

I love that Zac Posen (wow…..first time I’ve ever typed that…..) and it looks great on her.  WANT the Tom Ford shoes.

  • gdougs

I she will never not annoy me.

  • enchanted216

Loved her in the Tom Ford and the Versace.  That Tom Ford look is what she should go for.  It really suits her, I think, and is sexy in a more sophisticated way than she usually chooses.

  • erika dantas

she looks great, this photoshoot is classy

  • Anna James

Is it just me or is there dodgy Photoshop going on on her left hand in the Versace photo? I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have a roll of fat under her thumb.

    • http://profiles.google.com/withano Loren S

There is dodgy Photoshop going on ALL over this photoshoot!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=703335175 Hannah Shmulsky

Aww, such hating! :*( I agree her poses could be much better, but I think she’s a beautiful woman, and I guess I’m alone in liking the McQueen dress. I like her duck lips just fine. *laughs*

    • http://twitter.com/jerseyemo Edwina

You are not alone, out of all the young starlets, Lea always looks gorgeous to me.

    • VioletFem

Your not the only one who feels that way. I think the hate towards her is kind of ridiculous. I do hope this photo shoot inspires her to try out more flattering dress choices (i.e. less exposing) on the red carpet.

    • Cayla Dugan

I agree. I think she’s gorgeous. Her posing isn’t the greatest but she’s not a model so I don’t expect it to be. The vitriol some people feel for her is kind of bizarre. You’d think she kicked a puppy.

  • kimmeister

I was about to exclaim, “Yes! No sternum shots!” But then I got to the Tom Ford. *sighs*

    • poggi

I thought the same.  And her figure looks great in the Zac Posen, the Versace, the McQueen, and even the bodysuit. While I love the color of the Tom Ford, I don’t like that neckline very much on women with curves.  It seems a little trashy when their is cleavage from the side. It seems better suited to women with smaller chests.

  • kcarb1025

What the hell is that koi pond picture?

  • Pants_are_a_must

She just doesn’t know how to werq the camera. It’s either CRAZY DIVA or DEPRESSED TEENAGER. The clothes bore me.

  • jw_ny

No sex appeal at all.  This chic is so overrated.

  • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

I am so over her. I can’t wait until Glee’s 15 minutes are up and she’s doomed to BWay obscurity.

    • alyce1213

Let’s make that ALL obscurity. (Please, spare Broadway – I love it!)

  • Scott Isaacs

    Just a few comments.

Cover: Airbrushed to within a whisker of her life!
Zac Posen: GORGE, to-die-for montage. Dress, courtyard, potted plant, pool, all stunning.
Lea herself: She inexplicably looks like she is actively trying to look for a way out of each scene (which, personally, I’d just luxuriate in). Either that, or giving her agent the side-eye for forcing her into doing something she doesn’t want to do.

  • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

She’s so beautiful, but she is SERIOUSLY trying too hard. And like you were saying about Christina Hendricks earlier, she looks so much more interesting and vibrant when she’s smiling or lively, rather than looking all ~fierce~.

I understand the temptation, though – if I had those cheekbones I’d want to play them up too.

  • PeaceBang

This is a girl who should be ignored at all times until she gets to the theatre, gets into make-up and costume, becomes someone else, and transports the audience into a world o’ Broadway magic. Then she should sneak out the stage door with her hair all tucked up in a black baseball cap like all the other amazing B’way divas I know, sign some autographs, smile and pose for a few photos, say goodnight gracefully and with a smile, and disappear into the night. Once a year she should show up at the Tonys wearing something like that Zac Posen dress, sashay onto the stage to accept her award, say something witty, charming and humble, and sashay away. And that is all.

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

    Of course.

  • ccm800

soft romance suits her SO well…to bad she wants so hard to be Jessica Rabbit.

  • janetjb

These are some of the best photos I’ve seen of her.  Bravo to the stylist, Paris Libby

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1476648069 Scott Cooper

These shots were done by one smart photographer.  Pull back far enough and her try-too-hard poses almost work.

  • Maria McGarry

Next up: “Lea Michele for SkyMall.”

  • berkeleygirl

I know this is old news, but she takes herself FAR too seriously.

  • Kimberly B

Someone PLEASE link me to another place to see the McQueen Dress. I die. I LOVE IT.

  • http://profiles.google.com/cracklerod Jasper Peng

Wow. They really Gattaca’d her legs in that Tom Ford photo.

  • MinkaL

It’s like a sport for some of you to find something nasty to say about this girl, no matter how far you have to reach to say it. Seriously, why? I’m honestly bewildered. She looks gorgeous, and I hope she sticks around forever post Glee, if only for some of you to continue twisting yourself up in knots over it.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

    Um… whatever.

  • http://twitter.com/yankeefoxtrot Alex McGeagh

Everything here is knee length or longer (D&G “bodysuit” excepted. Speaking of which, who the hell wears a ‘body suit’ in real life? Never seen it). A step up for her, won’t we all agree?

    • formerlyAnon

Having been raised in the Age of the Bodysuit, many of us wore them. But not,you know, *just* them.

  • PeggyOC

I like her so much better in all of this becaused she’s not working the sexy. She’s actually very pretty in stillness. It’s a rare gift and she should use it. Because she has no gift for the sultry.

  • http://twitter.com/myblackfriend myblackfriendsays

this chick needs to GO AWAY!

  • NasserShaheen

Has someone else worn that last dress? I seem to remember if and not being impressed but here I love it.

    Also, love her.

  • judybrowni

Wow, lea looks gorgeous in those below-the-knee and full-length gowns!

More so, than in her usual gyno skirts.

  • Qitkat

She is lovely in all of these, yet, looks awkward, and so posed. Not a natural model.

  • Bozhi

I just don’t like her.  I don’t even know her, so I don’t know why.  I don’t watch Glee, so I do not know why I don’t like her.  Maybe It is because of the terrible way she dresses.

Yes, I think I don’t like her for her fashion choices.

  • RzYoung

Love the photo with the Koi Carp, but mainly cos I love Koi Carp, they photograph wonderfully. Meh to LM and all her pouty poutness

  • http://profiles.google.com/rosatcollege Ros Clarke

    Blah, blah, blah

  • bluefish

She looks great in the blue Cavalli dress — good color on her and shows off the pretty legs.  For the rest, God forgive me, every time I see her barreling down the highway in my direction, all I can utter is an alarmed “Oy vey!”  She’s just too much all the time everywhere.

Something strange going on in that last picture too.  Frankenpose complete with the annoying pigeon toe thing.

  • http://twitter.com/Nancer Nancer

I think she looks beautiful here. Well composed shots.

  • formerlyAnon

    She looks great in these.

She looks like the successful (but not as successful as she wants to be) actress who marries someone insanely wealthy and is subsequently photographed between her (rare) acting projects doing charity work. Once her kids are raised she becomes a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, the head of her own foundation, testifies before Congress and becomes an incredibly effective advocate for and expert on her cause(s).

And we never, ever, think about her wooden attempts to boost her career by doing cheesy T & A fashion shoots, again.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VA5XLSF3QRELSC3MUFSXLP4EIE rebecca

Love her in this. For the first time, she doesn’t look like she’s trying too hard.

  • Susan Crawford

For once, I didn’t cringe at Lea’s usual contortions on the Red Carpet – the styling was minimal, the make-up was not applied with her usual putty trowel, and she is not sporting that smugface that passes for “comehitherness” in Lea World. But the final photo in Versace? Lovely dress, but what is WITH the knock-kneed, pigeon-toed pose?

I am seeing this pose all the time lately. And I don’t approve. It’s as bad as the crossed legs, trying to hold it until the next stall is free look. It’s worse than the hand on hip, pert looking back over the shoulder pose. And it’s WAAAY worse than a simple, stand up straight, slight turn to the side for a slimming effect, great posture stance – a pose no starlet dares to try. (Girls, check out Grace Kelly on the carpets . . . )

  • Patricia Gillett

She would serve herself well to wear more Posen-like creations like this one on the red carpet as opposed to “airing it out” like she usually does.

  • snarkykitten

the photoshop in the first one is hilarious. I know koi are big, but that’s just ridiculous

sorry what were we talking about?

    • TheOtherChristina

Am I misreading your comment, or are you suggesting they actually photoshopped the fish to be larger?

  • VioletFlame

Love the willowy Alexander McQueen, too. As far as the bejewelled swimsuit, gorgeous to the eye and I’ll bet scintillating at sunset, but I wouldn’t want to wade out into a rip-tide, or for that matter, a calm body of water in it.

  • kentiesgirl

I think she looks great, and I love the Zac Posen on her.

& it’s a good thing I saw that cover, cause I was just thinking I needed a new sparkly, granny panty, bustier thingy WITH adjustable bra straps on it to hang from the gym ceiling and twirl around in as the disco ball at the prom; the high school’s low on funds.

Seriously…hunh. Weird little piece o’ fashion, that is. But pretty! And soooo wearable.

  • Lisa

She really does look fantastic, and the McQueen dress is wonderful on her!  Good job!

  • jeeplibby02

I think Sarah Jessica Parker should give this girl lessons in how to make it in Hollywood, despite a few rather unfortunate features, without looking like she’s trying too hard.
