Jessica Alba in Hollywood

Posted on March 22, 2012

Jessica takes some springtime colors out for a spin.

Alice + Olivia 5-Pocket Skinny Jeans

Notice the subtle, practiced switching of the bag from right hand to left as she gets closer to the photographer. Attagirl. This is an adorably sassy little outfit. Love the jeans and LOVELOVELOVE that striped top paired with it. We’re confused by the kerchief around the neck. Did she just rob a bank? And we have no doubt that they cost more than the average car payment, but don’t those shades look like they came off a carousel at the CVS? Still, minor complaints. Head to toe, it’s a smart, stylish, camera-ready look.

It is–and I do love that bag, although it’s big enough to hold a small child.  Like the shades, too.  Very fun.

    • AthenaJ

Perhaps that’ll be the new trend in Hollywood… instead of a chihuahua in your purse, you can lug around a toddler all day!

    • mountainFashionista

I like that her huge bag has big, visible things in it — looks like a binder (script, maybe?), and a book or possible iPad.

It weirds me out when celebs are photographed toting huge, brand-new, empty-looking purses.  At least this one is being put to use!

  • nannypoo

Hate the glasses, bag and scarf. The bag must weigh close to a ton. No doubt she moves it from hand to hand because of pain and exhaustion. The rest is cute.

    • fashionablylate

Agree, the accessories are killing this, especially that suitcase of a bag. The glasses are silly and the scarf unnecessary. Love the top though.

      • Little_Olive

The bag has a shoulder strap. That qualifies it as a weekender in my book.

  • Love the colors and the stripes!  She is a big scarf wearer…I think it must be her comfort zone, because it doesn’t really fit the look.  But it is very “Jessica Alba”.  Is there a spring/summer equivalent (besides a lighter scarf)??

    • theblondette

She needs to visit Paris to learn scarf ways. I lived there for a year recently, and people do genuinely wear scarves all year round, even when it is VERY VERY HOT. And manage to pull it off.

      • Beardslee

A scarf could have complemented the top if it had been more interesting and tied better.  I am a big scarf wearer (have one on right now) and it could have worked. Yes, a trip to Paris could teach her a lot.
        LOVE that  she’s wearing color!!

  • I need that top. Can the unborn fawns help find it?

    • I feel like I need that top, except I don’t wear horizontal stripes. /envious sigh/

    • MilaXX

Amanda Uprichard  striped top. I see it on Neiman Marcus but it appears to be sold old. $180

  • Malice Grant

I rarely have bag envy, but I just drooled, much to my keyboard’s chagrin.

    •  I often have bag envy, and that bag is now at the top of my very long list.

  • enid soto

I’m in love with this colorfest. WANT.

  • Who makes the bag?!

ETA: I love the rest of the look, except for the scarf thingie around her neck.

  • lalahartma

Yay, now, where can I find this that I can afford?  🙂

    • MilaXX

Red jeans are everywhere (so are mint green apparently).  Stripes are also in and plentiful. The bag I doubt  will be as easy to find but feel free to add your bag of choice.

  • MilaXX

I like this look. In fact I just took the plunge and bought a pair of red jeans. Took forever to find the right cut.

    •  I usually don’t like jeans that are any color besides blue or black, but now I’m coveting a red pair. Jessica’s are fantastic.

      • MilaXX

I’m usually the same way, but I saw so many cute red jean looks that I caved.

  • Cathy S

    That striped top is fantastic.

  • IAmJ

I like the idea but the sleeve on this top is just awkward. Wide and a weird length. I know it would bug me all day if I wore it.

  • k op

That top is calling my name!   Golly it’s cute.  I’m torn over the black accessories.  It’s Spring, isn’t it?  Why black?  Then again, why not?    Black might be the only color that wouldn’t detract.  Boy do those jeans look fantastic with those boots!  So if the boots are black, then so shall the scarf and sweater be.

That’s it.  Jessica has earned her spot on the lower steps of my rotating spiral staircase (pink floral crystal designed by Busby Berkeley) full of fashion icons.  She delights me lately.

  • Sarah Aronson

Love the whole thing. Like some others, I want to know who makes that bag!

  • AthenaJ

It’s a fun look, but the black accessories detract from it, and the boots look too heavy for it, too.  Not understanding the kercheif around the neck either. Is she a bandit?
Agree the glasses look a little cheap and silly, but Jessica has a face that can pull it off.

  • It looks like the kerchief is there to hide her bra strap.

  • That bag and I are destined to be together. Someday.

  • DinaSews

Love.  Who’s bag? I need one that size.

  • Sara__B

The scarf is probably in case that incredibly wide-necked top slides off.

  • DCSheehan

There’s nothing I don’t love here, including the scarf and glasses which work for the look. She looks better here than the last few red carpet pictures she’s posed for.

  • formerlyAnon

    Love the bag.

But I think the ensemble looks like it was put together out of an upscale goodwill bin by someone with a good eye for color.  I can’t tell you exactly why, since I usually like the raffish outfits made of bits ‘n bobs with something oversized thrown into the mix.

  • kimmeister

Wow, I’m in the minority here but I dislike everything about this look: boxy top with huge 3/4 sleeves that make her arms look shrunken, stupid glasses, pants half untucked into booties, bleah.  I like the idea of the bag but not its actual colors.

  • miagain

    That’s not a handbag… it’s a suitcase… a really fabulous suitcase, but a suitcase nonetheless!

  • alyce1213

Red pants can be tricky, but she’s done it well.
I love that she’s on the Hollywood Blvd Walk of Fame.

  • lordandtaylor

Where is she wearing a bib? It’s a scarf?! Oh, sorry. My mistake.

Mirrored sunglasses? Oh my dear, Stop going to T.J. Maxx.

  • Brad’s been doing such a good job with her. I presume this is his styling, it has his ‘pops of colour’ signature all over it.  I wish you’d stayed with his show, it got SO much better, his partner Gary is a reality show gem and the Les Mis flashmob they did in the last eppy was TV gold (though I’m possibly quite easily pleased).

    •  I loved his show. It was such a treat. I agree about Gary. So great, and the flashmob was such fun. I hope it gets another season. I’ve been missing it.

  • RebeccaKW

Maybe the kerchief is to cover up the fact that she’s wearing what appears to be a bikini top under that sweater.

    I do love the pants.

    • Cleis

I was in LA this week and it was, believe it or not, COLD.  I was wearing a fairly heavy wool dress and light sweater and I was shivering after a walk from the parking lot into the hotel.  If this was taken between Sunday the 18th and yesterday, she had good reason to put a scarf on.

      • RebeccaKW

I’m not saying she shouldn’t wear a scarf.  But this looks like she tied her dinner napkin around her neck and then left the restaurant.

  • BrooklynBomber

I do like the jeans. Funny about the glasses: they look like joke store glasses.

    • Sara__B

Or maybe the glasses have those little mirrors in the frame that let Jessica to spot the photographers sneaking up on her from behind.

  • The scarf, glasses and ‘bag that wouldn’t fit in the overhead bin’ are ruining it for me. but I do love the jeans and sweater.

  • I love the entire look, from sunglasses to boots. She looks terrific here. I’m coveting the top, the pants and the bag. If this were and In or Out, she’d get a major IN.

  • Little_Olive

The booties are killing it for me. The bright red and black clash in my eyes, plus the booties take away a lot of the “freshness” of the look.

  • Judy_J

    I love that striped top.

  • The booties and the scarf killed the outfit.  Love the look on the model.  That is nice and spring-y.

  • TheOriginalLulu

I like the jeans and top, but it looks like one could pack 3-weeks worth of outfits in that bag. Is it really necessary to have a bag THAT big? Maybe she did just rob that bank.

  • dress_up_doll

I love this sweater! It took a couple of looks at the images to sort out what’s going on with the neckline of the sweater, kerchief/scarf/dickey thingy and the bikini-top underneath. Love the jeans and boots with this look. Very modern. Very chic.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

it’s a great sweater, one i’d actually love to have, but maybe the scarf thing is cos the collar is kind of weird. she looks like she might actually be dressing at least in part for the weather & that collar is so wide [& unfortunately flashdance 80s] that, if she didnt wanna wear a shirt beneath the sweater & if she’s also freezing, a scarf would be the way to go. a better scarf tied in a better manner, however, wouldnt have hurt.

    edited to add:
any idea who made the sweater?

  • Jessi03

My thoughts EXACTLY on the sunglasses!  I thought maybe they belonged to one of her kids and she was wearing them to make them laugh.  I must find and own that sweater.

  • aristida_girl

    I love this look!

  • cleep1000

She looks like she has a personality in this outfit!

  • cleep1000

She looks like she has a personality in this outfit!

  • BrightsideSusan

Love the top – would pay good money for that top, but probably not as much as she did!

  • With her face, she could werq the CVS carousel, no problem. Looks she might have been a little chilly is all.

  • I want that look like burning.

  • Lisa

A-DOR-A-BLE!!!  Love it, head to toe!

  • R. L.

    Oh so cute!

  • Mirakel9

Hate the boots with the pants half in/out, hate the glasses and bib, too. Cute pants and top….

  • Andrea Weymouth

She looks wicked cute and sassy! I wish I could wear horizontal stripes, love the colors!!
