Emmy Rossum in Beverly Hills

Posted on March 19, 2012

Emmy dashed out the door without even thinking about how she looked, you guys.

Ralph Lauren The Crocodile Ricky Bag

It is a total coincidence that she’s dressed to the nines while walking down a street being photographed and you should be ashamed to think otherwise, you judgmental bitches. Great little outfit and truly fabulous purse, but she looks like someone slapped her hard on each cheek before she left the house. A little lighter on the blush next time, doll.

    I think she is blushing.

    • giiiirrrr

Me too, or flushed.  Flawless otherwise, so why not give her the benefit of the doubt?

  • http://twitter.com/Moondragonic Charlotte

Oh that’s adorable. I want every single piece she’s wearing.

  • Judy_J

“….why, this old thing?  I just throw this on when I don’t care what I look like.” (flips her hair and saunters off.  George Bailey and Ernie the cabbie watch admiringly as she sashays up the street.)

    • NurseEllen

Gloria Grahame…..what a great character actress!  Thanks for the reminder.

And frankly when I saw the photos I thought TLo were going to chastise Emmy about the lipstick, not the rouge.

      • Pinup Ghoul

Yeah, the lipstick. Way too dark. She’s on point for everything else, though, except maybe the pearls. I dunno. I’m just not a ‘jewelry during the day’ person, so that’s just a personal bias.

  • filmcricket

Not wild about the shoes (‘tho they look better in profile) but everything else is great. Love that skirt.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

oh I love the shoes, they look like irish dancing shoes with heels attached.

  • Anathema_Device

Very cute and put together. Agree on the blush, though. Reminds me of Marge Simpson’s mom helping her get ready for the prom: “Lady’s pinch, whores rouge.” (Not that I think she’s a whore…that line just always cracked me up.)

    • Amy Ellinger

oh, that quote is totally going up on my stickies wall!  (one wall of my work-from-home office is post-its with quotes, postcards & photos)

      • Anathema_Device

Awesome! (I corrected the spelling on “ladies.” oops. )

    • deedeegee

i love that line! my friends and i use to quote it when putting on make up at school.

  • blogless

HOW WEIRD. I just went grocery shopping and I was wearing the exact same thing.

  • Jaspreet5

She looks fantastic. Honestly if I had access to the clothes she does, I would leave the house looking like that too.

    • Pinup Ghoul

I bought a skirt very, very similar to that one from a local thrift store for $3. It’s a classic enough look, so they’re not hard to come by if you keep your eyes peeled. They flatter every figure, too. Great piece for any wardrobe.

  • http://www.facebook.com/hunter.abrams Hunter Abrams

celebrities, they carry $18,500 purses like it’s nothing….

    • Imasewsure

I have an $18,500 purse too… it’s made out of my last 11 mortgage payments….

  • http://twitter.com/bredalot Bridget Smith

I will take one of those skirts, please and thank you.

Also the shoes, which look just enough like Irish dancing shoes to give me fond memories but not enough to make me look like a crazy person.

    • jenno1013

You’re right!  They DO look like ghillies!

      • akprincess72

I Love the ghilly heels, who makes them??

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1234087433 Jen Freeman

yes, does anyone know?? I have my actual ghillies, but can’t really wear them out lol

  • hughman

If my husband named a handbag “The Crocodile Ricky” after me, I’d be a little perturbed.

    • MightyMarshal

The bag is actually called the Ricky bag, after his ex wife, but it’s in crocodile, so it’s the crocodile Ricky bag as opposed to the patent leather Ricky bag, the calfskin Ricky bag, or the ostrich Ricky bag. It’s the brand’s flagship accessory.

(Ignore me, I work for the company, so I’m a nerd about this stuff)

      • DinaSews

You work for Ralph Lauren?  How awesome is that! Why does the material name come before the purse name and not after?  Like The Ricky Crocodile bag?

  • Laurie Bergman

Love the shoes and the skirt.  Even saying, that, though…there’s something about the waistband of the skirt that bugs me.  I’m not usually a fan of hers, but she won me over with this ensemble.

    • Pinup Ghoul

Me, too. I haven’t liked her in anything ever, but my god is she gorgeous. She seems genuinely sweet, too, which makes me feel kind of bad that I’ve never liked a single movie she’s been in.

  • holdmewhileimnaked

it’s ice cold in LA these days, so much that it has me wondering if we are in the beginning of a major climate change, one well beyond global warming. i have no idea how she’s wearing that.

    • Jecca2244

it was 75 in BOSTON today…must be climate change.

      • turtleemily

It was SO GORGEOUS in Boston today. And the news said it snowed in Arizona!

        • aristida_girl

I’m in southern AZ and it snowed for like half a day! A big deal for us desert rats…

      • Pinup Ghoul

82 degrees here on Lake Michigan! I have no idea what’s going on! I hope June is this perfect!

        • Spicytomato1

I’m from around those parts, too. Astonishing weather, and suddenly it’s green everywhere! Although my neighbor just said it’s starting to make her nervous. In a sci-fi way, i.e. “We all thought is was so great when the temperature hit 80 degrees in March…until the (fill in natural disaster of your choice) destroyed everything in its path…”

          • Pinup Ghoul

…until our 4th of July cookout was ruined by a plague of frost-spewing locusts!”

            Happens every time.

      • akprincess72

Lol, -8 in Fairbanks, AK today…

      • fallen_ikon

It was 85 in Kentucky yesterday. 85..in Kentucky. Today it’s supposed to be 87 degrees. It’s really, really weird because this time of year we’re still usually in the 50s and 60s, just barely creeping into the 70s if we’re lucky.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Warmish but storming like a bee-hotch in TX.

    • http://twitter.com/ryenerman rynerman

Yes I found it distracting that everyone else anywhere in any of those photos is wearing a sweater or a jacket and there she is in a sleeveless blouse and sandals.  She must have been freezing.

  • http://twitter.com/PlanetSandisan Sandisan

Holy goddamn, she is hot.  Also, I want that bag.

    • luciaphile

I want the bag too, but partial downpayment on a house versus bag? House wins.

  • Vaniljekjeks

It’s the anti-Jolie.  She looks fabulous.

  • http://twitter.com/jerseyemo Edwina

Blush aside, her whole outfit is perfection.

  • greyhoundgirl

Great outfit.  But I was just in L.A. for 4 days and it was not sleeveless weather–it wasn’t even T shirt weather.  Notice how every other person on the street is wearing long sleeved jackets?

  • DCSheehan

No one else has problems with the lipstick? I’ve seen clowns who used less lippy than that.

    • sagecreek

I think she looks great. But then, I am from Texas…

      • 3boysful

When I lived in Dallas, I was ashamed to go to the grocery store (Skaggs, natch) unless I was completely coiffed and in full makeup!  ;)

        • formerlyAnon

So true. When I first moved to Texas I explained Dallas to people thusly:

You know how (especially on the night shift) the car rental clerk at the Newark airport wears corduroys, a company polo shirt, a windbreaker and flat black shoes – and her hair is in a pony tail?  Well, the car rental clerk at the Dallas airport looks like an extra in the ‘business lunch at the club’ scene from Dynasty or Dallas.

    • kirble

*raises hand* From the thumbnail on the front page, I thought she looked draggy. The clothes mitigate it somewhat, but her face is trying its damnedest to draw the attention away from the correct choices elsewhere on her person.

  • kimmeister

I hate the shoes, and the bag is a little matchy, but I’ve decided it’s time to have a knit pleated skirt in my life.

  • janetjb

I could have used that bag while out shopping today. It would totally go with my “fancy” jeans and cashmere sweater.

  • http://www.celestiae.net Isy

I can’t believe this bag costs almost as much as the new car I’ve been eying… Holy… I hope the person who made it by hand and the tanners all got a handsome cut because w.t.f.?

Anyway, she looks absolutely marvelous! So pretty!

  • jw_ny

Girl has some serious swish going on there…with the way that skirt flailing away in the 1st pic.  She looks great, and she knows it.

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

Very cute and sassy, but something is giving me Renaissance Fair vibes.

    • Pinup Ghoul

The outfit reads a touch mature and dark, plus, she’s giving serious ‘Arwen Face’ in most of those pics.

  • judybrowni

    Pretty and ladylike.

Wow, I just realized I used a phrases not often used for dressed up starlets, or for that matter, a phrase I often use at all.

    But it fits her, here.

Although, yeah, it’s not sleeveless weather here in L.A.

  • Pterodactyl111

    Maybe she actually got slapped.

  • http://twitter.com/MandySCG MandyJane

She should slap whoever chose that lipstick.

  • RedRaven617

Her makeup makes her look way older than she is (about 26?)

  • R. L.

She looks over-dressed for the street but maybe she had an engagement somewhere.  I like this look on her.

  • http://twitter.com/ShelfAfterlife Shelf Afterlife

I’m not usually into bondage heels but I kinda dig those.

  • another_laura

I think she looks totally adorbs and I covet that bag.  Minor points off for the blush.  She didn’t want her face to look washed out with the black blouse and overdid it for the natural lighting she finds herself in.

  • http://visceralresponse.com Dina dV

She probably overdoes the pretty and the glam in real life because she doesn’t want anyone to ever confuse her with Fiona, but after Fiona having such an awful time last night, I’m glad to see Emmy looking pretty and happy.

I didn’t know much about Rossum before Shameless, but I don’t think I go an episode without wishing that girl would just run away from her family and do right by herself for once.  She’s wonderful in the role.

  • http://www.facebook.com/notadouche Jeffrey D Foldenauer

Girl really knows how to dress!

  • StelledelMare

Definitely right about the cheeks but otherwise she looks great. I love her. Part of me wants to watch that Shameless show because she’s in it but then I found out it’s a remake of a british show and so now I want to watch the british version more.

  • http://profiles.google.com/thisiscelia Celia

Damn, where are those shoes from? I must know!

  • TSkot

$18,500 for a handbag just makes me sad.

    • nancylee61

It made the crocodile sad, too. What a disgrace, that we still kill animals just to wear their skin.

  • Sunshine16

Who’s shoes are those?!  Love them!!

  • CatherineRhodes

She looks super cute from head to toe. Well done, Miss Phantom.

  • Susan Crawford

She does look terrific: except for the make-up! This girl always looks like she fell into the mixing vat at the make-up factory. WHY? She is pretty and youthful – no need to try for a Clarabel the Clown look, but she so often ends up over-rouged, over-lipsticked . . . again: WHYYYY?

    • Rrroza

Maybe she has bad lighting in whatever room she makes up in?

      • Susan Crawford

This is why she needs a team of advisers comprised of sensitive, stylish gay uncles who can still summon up the chutzpah to say, “Gurl, go wash off a couple layers of that rouge or you are NOT leaving this house! You are a perfectly LOVELY person with a gorgeous face which – ahem – we can barely see behind the make-up. We’re saying this for your own good.” And then after she leaves, they completely re-do her entire lighting system.

(Don’t know about you, but I definitely could use a team like that!)

  • Lisa

What?  I dress like that every time I run to the bodega around the corner for a lottery ticket and a diet Coke!  Don’t we all?

Totally kidding – she looks lovely!

  • rawrgrowlrawr

When I was in middle school, my friends dragged me to see Phantom of the Opera. Miss Emmy here did not shut her mouth once throughout the entire movie. I have hated her ever since.

I still do not like her, but I am obsessed with this outfit. Except for the bag. Skin belongs on animals, not accessories.

  • MilaXX

Love the outfit, love the bag. Let’s just pretend she’s flushed from rushing about.

    • Susan Crawford

No, darling. I’m sure she has people to rush about for her. But I have to give Miss Em props – she is one of the most consistently well-put-together young stars out there. And this outfit is KILLAH!

  • golden_valley

A droopy secretary bow blouse atop a blood red, high waisted knife pleated skirt with bondage ghillies?   No way is this a good look for anybody…

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

My healthy ass is jealous of her ability to wear that skirt.

  • formerlyAnon

    LOVE that skirt.

The rest ain’t half bad either.

  • StillGary

WOw — I’ve never seen her outside her movies — she is no plain Jane.

  • alyce1213

Not everyone can wear that blouse and skirt and those shoes, but she’s perfect.
Maybe her cheeks just flushed.  Some people are that way.

  • CQAussie

Love the bag, the skirt, the top.  Don’t love the necklace or the shoes.  Yes, go easy on the blush Emmy.

  • quiltrx

Why can’t this work for me?  When I leave the house just not caring how I look, I look like cat crap.

Kudos to you, beautiful Miss Emmy.  You look great.

  • quiltrx

Why can’t this work for me?  When I leave the house just not caring how I look, I look like cat crap.

Kudos to you, beautiful Miss Emmy.  You look great.

  • aristida_girl

    Super cute and inspiring..

  • TieDye64

Love every bit of it….except the lipstick. Yikes! Adore everything else.

  • RWtD

She looks great, and isn’t giving the big round crazy eyes she often does. Love the look. I don’t even mind the heavy makeup, I love  a strong lip and cheek.

  • a_liking

love those shoes!! I normally don’t like strappy/ “naked” shoes at all, but these have enough going on to make ‘em werq.

  • http://twitter.com/JMBlair Jen

The woman on the phone behind her is probably complaining to a friend that Emmy Rossum and her twiggy, spring youthfulness are stealing the thunder from her fabulous, JcPenney winter-clearance-rack ensemble.

    • Linderella

What a snarky, rude, and utterly uncalled-for remark.  Jen, you are my new best friend!

  • http://www.facebook.com/claudeth.forbin Claudeth Forbin

    Love the Shoes!

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

    I love those shoes. LOVE.

And I hate that I reallly love that bag. Maybe in a fake croc.

  • Ennovi_R

I NEED THAT RED SKIRT!!! Yes, I am yelling. :)

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

I am yelling as well.  WE NEED THAT SKIRT!!

  • http://twitter.com/Highlandista Highland Fashionista

She looks great. If she’d just put on maybe just a white tank and some chunkier, less feminine jewellery, and maybe shoes, and maybe “undone” the hair a bit, she wouldn’t have looked like she was tying so hard. That hair is lovely, if not just a bit on the edge of Real Housewife …which seems The hairstyle in LA. Had she been in another city, this might not have looked so “done” in the middle of the day.

  • TheOriginalLulu

    I want those shoes!!

  • Wrenaria

    Just plain gorgeous.

  • Spicytomato1

    Fierce.

  • joolyz

what are those shoes?! i want them! or ok, i want the cheap knockoffs!

  • librarygrrl64

Love the bag, but wish it or the skirt were a different color (mustard, maybe?). A little too matchy-matchy for my taste. But this a definite WERQ in my book otherwise. She looks great.
