Blake Lively on the set of “Gossip Girl”

Not much to say here except…

Blake Lively on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC.

Reed Krakoff Spring 2012 Collection/Model: Yulia Kharlapanova

Emily Cho Oversized Folded Clutch

That coat is sharp as shit. Sure, it reminds us a little bit of a schoolbus – but a fabulous schoolbus, no? We’re all for a belted trench on a gal – it’s a sexy classic, after all – but we honestly think this looks better without it. And while we love both the purse and the shoes, we really can’t get behind the colors chosen. This is a bold yellow; not the kind of soft yellow that goes well with pink and baby blue. Still, a great look for television, yes?

Yes, the coat looks better without the belt. But her hair should be up.

  • sid123

err……what is she wearing on her legs, stocking socks? ….ohhh maybe pink dress underneath…..see I am confused by it all. Love the coat, ditch the belt, we know you have a nice figure.

    • 3boysful

That’s what it looks like to me!

    • TieDye64

Yes, the stockings, ummmm, pink dress? Odd.

  • TAGinMO

She can look so gorgeous and chic when she’s dressed for TV…why can’t she and/or her personal stylist pull off the same trick on the red carpet?

    • I think I’ve read on a TLo post before that she doesn’t use a stylist.

  • ballerinawithagun

Love the coat unbelted. Is she wearing pale stockings?

  • It looks like a tan line? like she got spray tanned with the coat closed? which would be weird. I really love the coat but not the shoes i think you could get away with the bag if you used a gray shoe or a navy shoe but switching both out would be best

  • Laura Goldsmith Nikolas

LOL to “a fabulous schoolbus, no?”

there is a reason i have logged into your website every day for 5 years. love you both.

  • Really hate the coat belted. It totally ruins the lines of the color blocking, and it cuts Blake in the wrong place.

    • kimmeister

Totally agree!  The belt is giving her a fupa, which she clearly does not have.

      • Right you are. I can’t say the choice of pink shoes is working for me either, even given the constraints of TV design, and storytelling.

        • kimmeister

I’m with you there too, although I am loving the clutch.

      • Ogden1990

I had to look up “fupa” and now I can’t stop laughing.

        • kimmeister

I learned the term a while back from, I believe, People of Walmart.  It’s often in evidence there . . .

  • deathandthestrawberry

I am shocked at how much I covet those pink shoes. Not feeling the clutch. The color is okay, but the flappy things bug.

  • mmgk

It’s really strange how the piping on the edges stops a few inches after it reaches the bottom.  Not sure I love that.

  • OK…this may sound a little silly, but consider the fact that I live in Texas and don’t walk the streets of New York…ever!  Is a clutch really something to use on a daily basis?  I’d be hanging onto that thing for dear life.  I need straps to hang onto and to sling over my shoulder!  That said, I do LOVE that clutch (and want to barf on those shoes).

    • RebeccaKW

I only use a clutch (or small purse) when I’m going to a bar where I’ll be sitting.  Like a pub for a concert.  I don’t want to take my big purse, but I need a change purse with some money and my id, my lipstick, etc.  And I just keep it on my lap or tuck it under my arm when I head to the ladies.  I never understand how people can use them everyday.  I’d lose it if I had to keep up with it for more than a few hours in one place.

  • Terence Ng

I think the coat looks great on the model, but it looks terrible the way it’s tied on her. It’s like her hips exploded after Fat Man and Little Boy passed by. Was she scuba diving at the time? And to contain the blast, did she use her scuba straps because they were all she had on her? Resourceful, sure, but fugly. 😛

  • NDC_IPCentral

    Pepto-Bismol shoes?  Nuh-unh.

Could someone run a brush through her hair and get her a trim, too?

Like the colors and some of the pairings, but this melange is not so hotsy.

  • siriuslover

it’s so wrinkled. Hate the shoes, though it looks like they might go with the dress under the coat. Hate the clutch.

  • carolynmo

I was about to write that it’s much better without the belt, but upon a closer look I noticed how tight the sleeves are. Maybe a belt was the way to go–with different colors in accessories, though.

  • Judy_J

    Barbie shoes.

  • Snailstsichr

My first impression is that it was some weird lederhosen outfit – but then I just came from the eye doctor and my eyes are still dilated.

    • Kayceed

Oh thank goodness I’m not alone. That first shot – I thought there was some weird suspender dirndl thing going on.

  • Monabel

Belt does not work because the coat is not cut to be belted. Sorry.

  • I love it belted, but I am not a fan of the pink shoes whatsoever.

  • Judih1

Coat, purse, and shoes are nice by themselves. But together? NO PLus her hair looks horrible

  • serenitynow02

I like the coat on the model, but I hate the outfit, head to toe, on Blech. I’m not sure why, but I think she really declasses almost everything she puts on.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

      Amen, sister!

  • Belting that fabulous coat = all wrong. The colors on the accessories don’t work with this look, but I lurvs them anyway! I want that purse, but in pink, not blue.

  • MilaXX

I like this until you get to the shoes. They make the pantyhose look orthopedic. I like the coat with or without belt.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Does that coat come in Gay Man Size XLarge? Or am I going to have to start pretend stealing coats from fabulous bitches?

  • Love all three pieces separately.  And I’ll take the bag in pink and blue. Thankyouverymuch.

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

NO!  Hate the clashing colors, hate the coat especially, and with pink shoes and a turquoise purse?  WTH??

  • Helen C

Oh dear, can’t the set do anything about her awful hair?

  • nannypoo

Love the coat but the belt makes no sense. It’s much better the way the model is wearing it.

  • Are my eyes playing with me, or is she wearing knee highs? And what’s with the Barbie doll pink on her shoe?
I do like the coat. I’d love it if were in different colors.

  • joe_tey83

The clutch looks like the kind of joke prop which your hand is stuck in when you reach for something inside it.

  • ccm800

wrinkle much?  LOSE the belt – ruins the whole thing.

  • Not a fan of the coat-the color combo pleases me not.  The clutch is HIDDY.

  • marilyn

The coat is a bold color and so is the purse.  The shoes need to be a bold color or black.  Without them, she is color-blocking black John Deere yellow, and turquoise.  I am not sure what color the shoes should be.   Overall, I don’t like coat this belted.  It just looks like a shapeless blob when it is belted.  The runway model wears it without a belt, and it has movement and looks somewhat retro-60’s-chic.  Belted it looks dowdy.

She is a cute girl with a great figure.  Fire the wardrobe person!!

  • BrooklynBomber

Belting that coat is all kinds of wrong.

  • umeboshi

  • butter nut

the shoes needed to be a bold pink, like magenta or fuschia, in order to make the bag work w/ the coat.  which i think could have been really great.  instead it looks like the tried to match her shoes to her lipstick :/

  • librarygrrl64

My first thought was “Ditch the belt.” Ruins the look, IMO.

  • bellafigura1

Oops, one color too many, and the coat shape is awful.

  • GIMME THAT JACKET!  I like it with the belt much more (but please, that belt is obviously from a different coat- it is a different fabric- that annoys me- details, people!), but I would prefer a green or possibly purple? (I abhor yellow).

Meh, her hair… she is so mehhhhh, please, if you are going to dye your hair, dye all of it- roots are not ok- and its messy.  Isn’t there a fleet of stylists there or something?

  • nancylee61

I love the coat, but like you guys, don’t like it belted. It looks very sloppy. And that clutch – really ugly color with the coat. Yeech.

  • I can understand why they belted the coat, because without it she wouldn’t have a defined waist. But why ON EARTH did they take a buckling belt and tie it IN A KNOT? It looks like she doesn’t understand how belts work. “Blake don’t know what buckle do… Blake tie in knot!”

  • Thathoodwink

Yes, too many colors that don’t go together. What bothers me and always makes me nuts is these “blonde” gals with the ugly mousy roots. If you’re going to go blonde, which is fine, then MAINTAIN those roots!!

  • TieDye64

The coat is fab! Without the belt.

  • Call me Bee

Is that still on?  (God I miss the TLounge…)

  • Larkin21

I like it much better with the belt. But I like most things better with a defined waist to give some shape.

  • missinmass

I am old and I could wear some of this collection, I hope she takes that as a complement.

  • No, she looks like she’s half in, half out of SCUBA gear.

  • Susan Crawford

The coat looked SO much sharper and cooler unbelted. On Blake, it looks wrinkled and too cinched-in. LOVE the foldover clutch! I am a little surprised that Gossip Girl is still running – aren’t these “kids” like, 35 or so at this point?

  • guest2visits

This coat is awkward to wear. I’m wondering if the yellow were something more neutral I might actually like it.

  • l3icest3r

Lively looks 10 years older when she smiles. Why is this?

Love the coat. If it were a touch less voluminous unbelted, it’d be even better. But it look strange when it’s belted. Hrmmm …

  • I find the color blocking on the coat makes her waist look wider. It’s not very flattering. Maybe if it wasn’t belted it would look better. I also can’t get behind the clutch. I hate that bag shape.
