WERQ: Jessica Alba in Carolina Herrera

Posted on February 23, 2012

Sometimes a gal just wants some uncomplicated pretty in her life.

Jessica Alba attends V-Day Cocktails and Conversation with Eve Ensler in West Hollywood, California in a Carolina Herrera dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti pumps, Jimmy Choo clutch, Vhernier earrings, and a Gray Gallery Vintage bracelet.

What a great color; what a great shape. How put-together everything looks here. You WERQ that Betty Draper shit, girl.

But we have to admit, we’re not entirely sold on the white peep-toes.

was she styled by brad g.?

  • http://www.facebook.com/jahna.peloquin Jahna Peloquin

Seems a little weirdly tight in the waist, though, doesn’t it?

    • ziarah

      It does to me, too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=21413366 Evan Hart

Am I alone in thinking that the fit in the bodice is way too tight? She looks gorgeous, but I fear for her rib cage.

    • lundibleu

Not alone at all, there’s definite oddness around there. I’m not sure it’s really a werq, not sure it’s even “her” dress. The colour is gorgeous on her, and she looks happy and relaxed and, well, great, so props for that. The dress itself though? Meh.

  • Sam Corbett

She looks adorable, but the puckering in the bodice is not a good look.

  • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986?hl=en&tab=h Judy S

Great dress for her, but awfully tight through the midriff.

  • AuntieAnonny

Did she get a new stylist or something? She’s doing really good lately.

  • Paigealicious

    It’s pretty…but I don’t know if she’s “werqing” it, exactly…

  • Laurie Bergman

Girl, that is *definitely* your color.  I love the second shot…what a relaxed expression, and I covet her mane.  But I agree with others that it’s too tight (or at least it looks that way) in the waist.

  • http://profiles.google.com/shannonlstewart Shannon Stewart

I kinda like the shoes, especially with the clutch.  It’s close to the bag, without MATCHING the bag.

  • Zaftiguana

I can’t stand her, but she looks great here and I even have to give her props for making that color work when a lot of people couldn’t.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/6KUFYYPCIRN3HQBS363J7G3EAM Kelly Foster

I love the color and the “idea” of this dress but the extremely snug bodice and the extra flauncy fabric around her hips does not flatter the body.  Her boobs on the other hand look outstanding.

    • kimmeister

Yes, that’s what I noticed too – the part of the skirt where it attaches to the bodice is just too poofy.

  • Judy_J

Very nice.  A bit too snug in the midsection, but that’s a minor quibble.  I’m OK with the peep-toes.

  • YolandaHawkins

I loved everything about the look until I got to the peep-toe shoes.  Overall WERQ Miss Alba!!

  • MzzPants

Looks too tight through the mid section.  I wonder if she had it taken in on purpose.

  • leah besson

TLo, i think you just may hate all ladies shoes ;)

  • mjude

    isnt brad her stylist?

  • http://twitter.com/DarthJaeda Jaeda Laurez

oh, they’re peeptoe? hunh…I liked them better when I thought they were just white with a shiny copper cap on the toe. (Side note: not wearing my glasses lol.) But I think she looks great!

  • http://profiles.google.com/kemi.kuranga Kemi Kuranga

Is it just me or have we been seeing this dress a TON lately…IDK if it is the exact same dress..but something about the cut/style is WILDLY familiar!!

  • nannypoo

She’ll be glad when she gets home and unzips that thing so she can breathe. The seams and details on the bodice are nice and the color’s pretty but I don’t like the huge side pleats.

  • MilaXX

The waist looks just a skoosh too tight. I’m not a fan of white shoes unless they are sandals, but I think these work. Overall she looks great.

  • Lilithcat

It’s February.  No white peep-toes.  I don’t care if she is in California.

That said. I love that dress, and it looks fabulous on her.  Which she knows, because look at that smile!  That is a young lady who is thinking to herself, “Aren’t I the cat’s pajamas?”

  • SewingSiren

    Beauteous.

  • lisaepc

TLo are you sure the peeps are white? They look more of a blush-grey to compliment the clutch to me…but y’all the experts.

    • alyce1213

I think you’re right, they’e not white but they appear to be in pictures.

  • jw_ny

Jessica looks fantastic.  That is a great dress and color, especially for her.   I love the proportions and fit of the waist and the flared skirt.  Hair and makeup are perfect.  That one pic of her sitting and smiling…she knows she’s werqing it!

I watched Brad Brad World…or whatevaitis…over the weekend for the 1st time.  He threw out Jessica’s name every other sentence…so, assuming he styled her for this???  Good job to whomever did.

  • kimberlini

It’s the kind of look a girl used to be able to put together WITHOUT a stylist.

    • Kayceed

Yes! It is a solid-color dress, a pair of pumps, a clutch and a gold bracelet. Not brain surgery. Yet so many celebs can’t even get the basics right on a regular basis – from which we derive much entertainment, non? But in my book current designers are putting out a lot of whackadoodle that misguided stylists think must be fab, just because it is coming from a storied house…

  • TheOriginalLulu

She looks gorgeous. What a great color for her. WERQ!

  • Pants_are_a_must

It’s too snug on her midriff. She looks like she can’t breathe.

  • butterflysunita

Hmmm.  Definitely IN, but not really a WERQ for me.

  • PastryGoddess

I usually can’t stand her acting, but she is pretty.  Maybe she should just stand around and pose in her movies from now on

    oh wait…

  • Lexie

I am loving that dress on her, but I agree that those shoes are mediocre at best.

  • PrunellaV

Shoes are bad, yes, but she has found her color! It actually makes her look not boring.

  • PeggyOC

Just so pleased she went back to brunette.  A less realistic looking blonde I have never seen.

    • alyce1213

“A less realistic looking blonde I have never seen”

I agree, but I do have a long, long list of others . . .

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

        Like Beyonce???

  • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Agree about the peep toes – they are hideous.  But love the dress, and I would kill for her hair.  She’s a beautiful young lady who rarely makes a misstep.

  • KathKo

    hate the shoes.

  • Anna Maria Diamanti

The shoes are tragic. The rest is great.

  • BazoDee

“But we have to admit, we’re not entirely sold on the white peep-toes.”
Oh thank goodness -you had me worried there for a minute or two! She looks so relaxed and genuinely happy in that second shot.
But it is lovely -I give it a lower case -werq!

  • PeaceBang

OH! Scrolldown fug!! Tragique! The first photo is absolutely gorgeous. Then, the unfortunate reveal: too-tight bodice, twee skirt and beyond awful shoes.

  • http://twitter.com/taijuuuh Taija HU!

I never really like her, but I will begrudgingly say that this is probably the best I’ve seen her look in a very long time.

  • MissMariRose

I need to know what’s going on to Jessica’s right. The sliver of a purple coat, pleather (?) pants and peep toe wedge I can see has all the makings of a Worst Dressed of the Year nominee.

ETA: Found her. It’s Eve Ensler.

  • http://twitter.com/IamDaBee Antonija Mitt

Stunning!  That is a great color and a great dress.

  • k op

Jessica is morphing into one of the best dressed celebrities out there.  Having babies has suited her well.  No more bitch face in beach clothing, she’s beginning a fashion story lately that is going places.

Her make up is improving as well.

  • belfebe

Whoever is her stylist (Brad?), she should keep him.  She’s really rocking the red carpet these days.

  • sagecreek

    I like it!

  • http://twitter.com/Kerry_McC Kerry McCombs

Blah. She is so beyond boring. I still don’t understand why she is a thing. Has she even been in a film lately???

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

      And boring in film.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=555593309 Alexis Peñafuerte Wenceslao

    I. CAN’T. STAND. HER.

    • sagecreek

Yeah, but what about the dress?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=555593309 Alexis Peñafuerte Wenceslao

Too tight. It’s not her dress. I. CAN’T. STAND. HER.

  • http://twitter.com/felicitas_s Felicitas Strautman

white peep toes are better than silly putty shoes tho you have to admit..

  • Lola67

Love this dress on her! Great color & shape. Beautiful.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

No, none of you are alone in thinking that the fit in the bodice is too tight. It’s too tight. Great dress. She can’t help looking gorgeous but, well, I dont’ know. Maybe it’s her shoes or the lack of a fully developed personality. Something isn’t working for me.

  • granddelusion

    To tight in the waist.

  • lalahartma

    YUp, too tight.

  • Susan Crawford

Adorable dress. Great color. Way too tight in the waist and bodice. Did Brad style her for this event? If so, please get the stealth seamstress to let the dress out a teeny bit under Jessica’s radar – or sew a “Size 0″ label into a “Size 4″ dress. This is definitely a good look for her – if it fit better. Still pondering those shoes – I kinda feel the vibe, but that’s a whole lot of WHITE shoe.

  • CatherineRhodes

The mid-section is way too tight.

  • rainwood1

Gotta go with the too tight crowd.  Not loving the skirt or the shoes either.  Better luck next time, Brad.

  • Patricia Gillett

    Love everything but the shoes.

  • Tiffany Lodge

I have to admit I love the look even though I can’t stand her!

  • http://twitter.com/anacedillo Ana Cedillo

she looks sooo good!!! good for her, except those shoes

  • ccm800

I likey the shoes on it too. Shes looking better lately, than I’ve ever seen. Someone pulled her from the abiss of dull as dishwater pretty girl…NICE!

  • tripletmom96

i agree that the dress looks too tight around the bodice, and i am not feeling the shoes, but love the color and it’s an oddly cool style.  it actually reminds me of georgian panniers just without the over-exaggerated sides…. you know, the extra folds of fabric on the sides of the dresses worn in the late 1700′s…..think american revolution era….

  • NICHOLAS PASQUALE

Oy, I don’t know. It looks a little…heavy? And that make-up just isn’t working with the rest of the look for me. Cute bracelet!

  • piecesofconfetti

The shoes have got to go!

  • bluefish

Too bad about the shoes but a gorgeous dress in a wonderful colour.  Beautiful waist and shoulders.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

Love the dress.  I do not like the white shoes with the gorgeous color of the dress.  Maybe a jewel tone.  A bit tight in the waist, and I’m sure that’s saying a lot for someone as small as she is.

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I think she looks fresh and young and pretty.  I am so glad she wore a simple but lovely dress.  That fabric looks scrumptious. I don’t mind the tight bodice and the full skirt is refreshing.   I guess I’m just happy that she’s not dressed in an Aniston Sparkle Towel that I cry WERQ from the highest rooftop over this one.

  • bitterk

Ditto on the shoes, but the dress is hot.  Great color on her.

  • bitchfacela

    YAY !

  • http://twitter.com/rachelruthlee Rachel Lee

It’s so tight at her waist! That isn’t flattering.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3KCDEX4FOTCFHZP6WLKSOOKUVM Danielle

It’s cute, but it looks like a bridesmaid’s dress to me.

  • Tatiana Luján

Great shape? You’ve got to be kidding.
