Marni at H&M Party Red Carpet

Posted on February 20, 2012

Darlings, it was the party to celebrate the launch of the  Marni and H&M collection in L.A.! And the celebrities showed up wearing…. Marni for H&M! Quelle surprise! Let’s see how they did without the benefit of stylists. Brace yourselves.

Andrea Riseborough

Oh, sweetie. Now we know what happens when Madonna is not around.

Christa B. Allen

Adorable (if maybe a little mismatched.)

Dianna Agron

Totally up her alley.

Drew Barrymore

Also adorable, but she should’ve ditched that necklace.

Freida Pinto

Gorge. Love the colors on her.

Jaime King

The Betty Draper hair was kind of an inspired choice with this outfit. She looks sassy.

Jayma Mays

Wow. She looks amazing. That is one put-the-hell-together look.

Jessica Chastain

That dress is perfect for her, but both the hair and the shoes are not helping the look.

Lily Collins

Perhaps a little too precious and coordinated (although that bag is too large for the look), but she looks cute.

Mena Suvari

Sweetie, we say this with love, but THAT IS NOT YOUR DRESS.

Mila Jojovich

We think we’d like this look a lot better without the George Washington hair.

Rashida Jones

Come on, girl. Hands on hips so we can see the dress. Must we tell you starlets EVERYTHING?

Rose McGowan

WERQing the SHIT out of it.

Sofia Coppola

This is fun in a “’60s dinner party” kinda way.

Winona Ryder

Not that hair; not those shoes, kitten.

And if you’re thinking of shopping for some of these looks, the collection will be available starting March 8 in around 260 stores worldwide, as well as on-line.

Jaime King for the win. She looks fan-Effing-tastic.

    • P M

With Drew Barrymore in second place. And Sofia in third. The rest – meh-ish. Jayma Mays….. honourable mention.

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I would have to agree with your entire placing.

  • moppet

Why does Dianna Agron look like her head is on backwards? It’s the way she’s holding her arms, I think.

  • http://twitter.com/Kerry_McC Kerry McCombs

What exactly has Rose McGowan done to her face? I don’t want to be mean, but I don’t recognize her as Rose McGowan anymore? Sofia Coppola is my favorite. She might be one of the coolest chicks in Hollywood.

    • Sobaika Mirza

She was in a car crash and had to have reconstructive surgery on her face. I think..?

      • Whever

Well, that’s the story she’s been touting. In actuality, I believe she ended up with only a cut under her eye- definitely not enough to necessitate the face full of work she’s had done. She’s made herself nigh unrecognizable, which is a shame.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/Q65AXARU4PZNGCUAPC7IITDB4Q Edward

All I know is Ann Margret broke her ENTIRE face falling off a stage, yet still looks like Ann Margret, meanwhile…

          • amywinns

Wow, I didn’t know about that! “…near-fatal 22-foot fall from a stage scaffold at the Sahara in Lake Tahoe. She suffered a concussion and crushed the left side of her face, fracturing five delicate bones and her jaw.”
Welp, looks like all my sympathy for Rose just vaporized. Ann Margret is fucking fantastic. I have always admired her. Now, moreso.

    • AnaRoW

I’m going to recommend that TLo include a note everytime Rose shows up on the RC re: the condition of her face because there always ends up being a ton of posts asking what happened. And for some reasom, she’s been showing up a lot lately.

  • http://twitter.com/foodycatAlicia foodycatAlicia

I would give actual folding money for the coat Winona is wearing. The rest I wouldn’t wear on a bet. I’m a bit scared of the apparent return of knee socks.

    • MilaXX

I like the look on Winona, she just accessorized wrong. I actually don’t mind the hair, but that shoe is too heavy for the look. Either a simple pump, or a funky flat would have worked better.

      • P M

I wish she’d taken her look to its appropriate conclusion, by adding fab accessories, pale blue eyeshadow, and fake lashes :)

        • MilaXX

not sure I can see her rocking the blue eye shadow, but lashes hells yeah.

          • P M

Blue eyeshadow is more wishful thinking. I was thinking a tongue-in-cheek Endora look. But you’re right, that may not really work.

      • sleah_in_norcal

a plain slip-on wedge would look good too.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_6RS6NLL44AED3E4QWIYTDQGU6I Psy_Chick

I am totally going to use the phrase “would give actual folding money” in conversation, soon. Thank you.

    • Kayceed

Agree. I just learned that I don’t like Marni.

  • http://twitter.com/Briadru4 Britney

As a fan of Glee, I feel like I need to personally apologize for Diana. Like… um, what? Fine, you’re gorgeous and you wanna dress, like, an Olsen twin I guess? But, honey, no. Why can’t you just brush your hair? Or wear something that is as pretty as your face? Ugh, you’re wasting it. YOU’RE WASTING IT.

    • StillGary

I would advise Diana to burn that outfit — but would it burn, I wonder?

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

More likely melt, releasing horrid toxic gasses into the air.

      • P M

If she’s anything like my mother, she’ll fight you tooth and nail, claiming the outfit to be ‘decent’. Dianna Agron and my mother are alike in that both women are beautiful, but don’t dress to their best advantage.
(No, I’m not being mean to my Mum, I just wish she would dress as beautifully as I think she is)

  • http://www.facebook.com/fiddlecub Kevin VanOrd

I’d like Freida Pinto’s dress if it weren’t for that–er–thing around her neck. Is that the dress’s collar? If so, I don’t understand it. It doesn’t contribute to the look in any way, it just distracts from it, like a little black Christmas tree skirt designed to catch flyaway hairs rather than pine needles.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000204562200 Beth Wilkerson Robinson

At first I thought she had her hair in pigtails, haha

    • miwome

I think maybe she’s got a low ponytail and the ends are coming around her neck. (This has happened to me.)

  • LesYeuxHiboux

I like the skirts and Winona’s coat but most of these ladies look a mess. Rose almost sold me on her dress.

  • bp316

Andrea Riseborough in that outfit is one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen.

    • P M

On the other hand, now we know what she looks like when she’s not in Madonna’s shadow.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/Q65AXARU4PZNGCUAPC7IITDB4Q Edward

They all look terrible. I’d vote out on every single one of them.

  • Sobaika Mirza

Freida is perfect, minus the elementary school hair.

  • SewingSiren

These are some of the prettiest women ever. And they don’t look too good here. Does not speak well for the collection.

  • DinaSews

What’s with the hair on a lot of these women?  Looks like college (who gives a shit) hair.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/VWVJVYZJCTXSQJA4E5PNEZLJA4 Jessica

Putting it out there: Dianna Agron and Mena Suvari could be sisters…..

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/Q65AXARU4PZNGCUAPC7IITDB4Q Edward

Yup, that’s what I hear anyone comments on her looks on here. She was in a car accident and got glass in her face, around her eyes I believe, and needed surgery to fix it.
But I’m not really sure how glass around her eyes would leave her lips looking so different…

    • MilaXX

reminds me of how back in the day everyone who had a nose job had a deviated septum

  • lunulaoblongata

Dianna looks like a mental patient.  That outfit is atrocious.

  • AuntieAnonny

I’m in love with all of the pants.

  • serenitynow02

I have to say that I dislike every single one of these looks. Every one. Maybe it’s the lighting, but they all look dreary. I might have liked Winona’s coat, but not like this.

  • gdougs

Jayma Mays give me your lovely, glowing tan!

  • mayah1806

none of these women are pulling off the looks they are wearing… that speaks terribly of the collection! turned me off completely.

Jayma and Rose are the only ones who looks presentable… and that is not the kind of word you use as a compliment on the red carpet.

  • http://twitter.com/stopENtalk Brittany Johnstone

Dianna should have stolen Christa’s top. Jayma Mays is BRINGING IT.

  • janedonuts

That goddamn twee way of standing that Sofia Coppola’s been forcing upon us for the last fifteen years has finally pushed me over the edge. NO MORE PLEASE MY EYES GOD

  • http://twitter.com/sockandaphone Gaby

A lot of these people look so awkward in these dresses…although Jayma’s dress is to die for.

  • lundibleu

If Jayma Mays looks like that without a stylist, and having seen some of what she comes up with when she does have one… SACK THE STYLIST!

  • PinkLemon

rose needs to CHILL with the face.

  • umeboshi

jayma, lilly, and rose are selling it for me here, but barely. they should have used stylists. this does not represent the collection well.

  • Judy_J

I’m not blown away by anything in this collection, to be perfectly honest.  The only outfit that looks pleasing to me is the one worn by Jayma Mays.  I suddenly realized that if the skirt were knee-length, it looks like something my 80 year old mom would wear.  My mom has a great sense of style, so perhaps this particular look is ageless?

  • MilaXX

Some interesting looks, I’m still debating on whether this collection is worth trying to snag anything. The bags look interesting but I’m not sure if it”s worth the bother.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001998855370 Fatima Siddique

Drew Barrymore looks amazing. I can see why her photo is on the front page. She wins!
Dianna Agron, on the other hand, looks awful. That blouse looks like it belongs to somebody’s grandmother and that said grannie used said blouse for smuggling shoplifted items.

  • Pants_are_a_must

No, no no no. None of these look good. I know Marni is known for kooky rich woman looks, but must that mean mismatch mayhem?

  • Zippypie

Just looking at the clothes – it’s Winona for the win for me, Frieda in second.  The rest of the garments are pretty mishmash meh to me.  And a bit dowdy.  I wonder if the actresses were all styled by Marni/H&M as well.  There are a lot of hair issues going on.

  • nannypoo

Am I looking at some alternative set of pictures? I think they all look awful. There is not one acceptable outfit here.

  • http://twitter.com/lenabena_ Elena

Not feeling this collection at all.

  • jilly_d

These clothes are straight-up fug.  If ladies like Diana Agron can’t pull this shit off, no way would I ever plunk down any cash for it.  The only person who looks like she got dressed with the lights on is Jayma Mays.

    • jilly_d

upon a second look – I would, in fact, buy that houndstooth mini.  but ONLY the houndstooth mini.

  • alyce1213

Maybe Jayma Mays’ outfit is acceptable (but not inspired). The rest are either plain ugly or monumentally fugly.

  • VioletFem

Jayma Mays and Milla Jojovich are the only cute outfits here. I’ve never been a huge fan of Marni

  • Terry Weyna

It’s amazing how much these folks look like ordinary people when they’re in ordinary clothes and without professional makeup, hair and styling.

  • schadenfreudelicious

gotta say it, not loving the ombre hair on Drew one little bit…..

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_26QG22FL4HVT7ZA46F4EE4UEXY amyw

That is exactly what I was thinking.

  • Lulu Lafurge

A few of these look great, but most look cheeeeeeeeeeeap! And when are we going to bid farewell to flood pants? Oh, sure, some call them capris, but especially in cases such as above, they are flood. pants.

  • Lulu Lafurge

Oh, and thank you, Rashida, for wearing a coat. It looks like it’s covering up a dress to kill.

  • http://eclectictsunami.blogspot.com/ Cassie

I love Rashida Jones, but she always looks absolutely tragic on the red carpet. She’s so lovely – get it together girl.

    • poggi

Except this time almost everyone looked absolutely awful so her tragedy was practically a win by comparison.

  • Rosington

Whyyyy did Rose McGowan do that to her face?  Whyyyyyy?

  • TSkot

I didn’t know Mena Suvari was in her 50s!?!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1046681022 Paula Berman

Diana Agron looks frumpadelic. Winona Ryder is cute but has crazy eyes. The “George Washington hair” comment made me laugh out loud, for real.

  • boweryboy

    Where are the boy cothes?

  • boweryboy

    Where are the boy cothes?

  • quiltrx

Overall, everyone looks pretty cute…which to me speaks well for the line itself.  I really like that black circle print.

(and uncles, cut Milla some slack!  She’s got to work that Alice hair while RE is still going strong!)

  • Presumptuous Insect

George Washington hair. HA! Still not as bad as Drew’s brown hair with grown out blond smoodges at the bottom. So gross.

By the way, so frikkin sick of the nepotism. Collins? Never would have made it otherwise. Cripes, come to think of it, we have four cases of nepotism on this one page. Oh, the humanity.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Micaela-Cannon/1465504041 Micaela Cannon

that is not rose mcgowan. i refuse to believe it.

    • NasserShaheen

Actually I think she’s looking a lot more like she did pre-accident.

  • NCDFan

Ugh. 2 or 3 well dressed looks, 2 or 3 more okay looks, there rest are disasters. Don’t think I’ll shop this line of clothes if the people promoting it can’t do any better than this with it.

  • snarkykitten

I wouldn’t wear any of this.

and Winona Ryder is giving a freaky face. yikes

  • Derek_anny

I see what you did with the sales pitch, TLo.  Don’t think I didn’t.

  • altalinda

You were feeling pretty charitable today.  Christa Allen and Drew Barrymore got off easy.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

“Available in NYC to the teenage girls without jobs and scam artists on eBay who will line up around the block of their nearby H&Ms to snatch up EVERY FREAKING LAST PIECE.” Seriously. These things are always disappointing.

  • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

I might want to get my hands on Drew’s little dress, though neither of the ladies wearing it has given me a good look at it. I also really love Winona’s coat thing, though it’s probably not optimal with my figure.

  • RzYoung

Neh, not for me. The first 4 looks are horrendous, what a terrible advert for their clothes. Winona Forever, that bitch just doesn’t age!

  • miwome

    George Washington hair!

  • fanneydg

Wow, those are some fugly clothes.

  • Carleenml

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a red carpet where I hated absolutely everything. Until this one.

  • Jecca2244

Why do you think there hasn’t been as much hub bub around this collection as Jason Wu’s? A few of the pieces look like they would be translatable to every day wear…although not fighting for it in stores.

  • tired_mommy

Winona’s expression with the outfit makes her look a bit cray cray.

  • Mirakel9

    Hmm….these are almost all awful.

  • http://www.facebook.com/luv2birdie Elana Bryan

Umm – wow thanks for showing me what I won’t be buying anytime soon.

  • homespunner

Andrea Riseborough, Christa B. Allen, Dianna Agron, and Drew Barrymore. Go home and start over.

  • kimmeister

Dianna dressed for a completely different event than everybody else.

  • Qitkat

After 30 years I finally threw out my camper trailer curtains; I see Jessica and Mila found them.

  • http://twitter.com/mellafe natalia h

Andrea and Winona are wearing the same pants.
