Jennifer Lopez for V Magazine

Posted on February 29, 2012

Okay, we fully admit that we’re not the people best qualified to answer this (which is why we’re asking it), but…

Jennifer Lopez for the Spring 2012 issue of V magazine photographed by Mario Testino and styled by Carine Roitfeld.

Bodysuit by Dolce & Gabbana. Robe by Everlas.

T-shirt (customized by stylist) by Emporio Armani. Necklace by David Yurman.

Jacket by Prada.

Jacket by MaxMara. Shorts by Giorgio Armani. Shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti.

Jacket Alexander Wang. T-shirt Calvin Klein. Necklace David Yurman.

Necklace by David Yurman.

Is this hot? Like, “I want to sex her” hot?

Because we’re a little frightened.

Oh, wait. None of y’all are the ones to answer that question either. Come out of hiding, straight boys! We need a ruling. We promise no one here will look at your junk.

We can’t help thinking of those pictures of Oscar de la Hoya in fishnets and heels. And now you can’t either.

    • Leslie Streeter

I don’t know what the hell that’s supposed to be!

      • Nancy Abrams

        I’m very confused.

    • Gus Casals

      That inguinal protection is… distracting.
Please, show us some nipple again, I need reassurance …

      • Little_Olive

The inguinal “protection” (full-on package) is IMO what prevents it from being ‘boxer lady’ hot.

Does this mean she is not a Mother, an Entertainer and a Person anymore?

        • Sally Brownson

I agree. I find the crotch off-putting. The pics where she doesn’t have the weird leather briefs on, I find attractive.

          • miwome

Cosign. I do really dig the somewhat androgynous hair and makeup.

          • Amandeep Gill

Just asked my husband if he thought this was hot.  His answer: “…  The pictures that would have been hot were ruined by making it look like she had junk.”

    • Kevin VanOrd

I am no straight boy, but I know awful when I see it. Why would anyone want to dress Jennifer Lopez to make her look like she had–a penis under there? The crotch-grab shot is beyond disturbing.

    • kcarb1025

      No. It is very scary.

    • Adina Miller Holmes

Um … weird and a little frightening.  Not sexy.

    • JAArms

I only like the last two B&W shots.

    • Elena

    • Chloe Stabler

I can’t figure out if they’re trying to make her look like a man or a sexy woman.  Either way, this is just kinda gross.

    • TheLaurenJean

      That is straight up terrifying.

    • Jessi03

Why did they give her a penis pouch?  I’m unnerved.

    • sweetestsith

Well, I think its hot… But that’s a bi-girl perspective. I know a few dudes who would be into it, but overall I’m confused. What was the purpose of this shoot? Mixing up the diva image?

      • Sobaika Mirza

Yeah, I think there’s a group of people who would find this hot in a ‘tough girl’ sort of way. I just don’t get the point of it. Maybe it would make more sense if it were an editorial from a few years ago – when she did that ‘Enough’ movie.

        • sweetestsith

I think its more specific that than in the “tough girl that packs” kind of hot. There are definitely people into that, but its not exactly a large group, and not one I was aware she wanted to appeal to. Like I said, I’m cool with it; I don’t usually find her hot but love her hair/makeup/getup here, but I really really don’t understand the why of it.

        • Saoirse Lee

Hmmm, maybe they’re trying to create a group of people who find this sort of image sexy, or at least not alarming? Like they’re setting a trend?

It looks sort of chola to me (although I admit to knowing very little about that subculture) with the eyebrows and come-at-me-bro fierceness. Kind of reminds me also of early 90s hip-hop and rn”b girls, Salt n Pepa and TLC maybe, who dressed sort of tomboyish and, like the beloved honeybadger, just didn’t give a shit.

          • formerlyAnon

Early Salt ‘n Pepa. *Sigh* I miss that.

            • Saoirse Lee

Me too. I also miss that those girls could dress like that and still be seen sexy and a force to be reckoned with. It was a viable look at the time at least for girls who didn’t want to wear typically feminine clothing, and they weren’t treated like some kind of freak for not being girly girls.

          • muzan-e

The world can always use more honeybadger girls. Oh heck yes. *g*

      • GeekChicSuperfreak

        Indeed and agreed.

I don’t much fancy JLo, tho. I think this shoot/editorial could’ve been truly hot had it featured a different model/woman.

      • Toto Maya

It’s odd, because I’m a bi-girl as well, and I don’t think it’s hot at all. I feel kinda disturbed by it, and I’m not sure why.

        • Sally Brownson

Personally, I’m a bi girl who isn’t super fond of the idea of chicks with dicks. Butch girls, sure. Actual penises on said girls? Not so much. If there’s a dick involved, I prefer it attached to a guy.

          • MeredithCallahan

I read it as ‘chick dragging with dick’, personally, and the idea of J-Lo being the kind of woman who was willing to casually pack actually would make her a lot more interesting to me.

      • Basil Von Broccoli

        I think so too!

I don’t know what the shoot’s purpose was… but as it happens, I don’t much care. I’m just glad to see it.

    • Vaniljekjeks

No.  I am creeped out.  I’m not a boy, but I am still allowed to be creeped out.  I can also call a hot girl when I see one… not the case here.  Spooky.  Like Angelina Jolie spooky.

    • Aaminah Khan

Noooooooooooooo. No, no, no, no, no. I am usually a huge fan of hers, but these pictures are horrible.

    • Shelf Afterlife

Yeah, JLo is at her hottest when she looks like she has a penis!

    • Michelle Hopkins

I’m a “flexible” lady, which I would think would make me more inclined to like these than a straight boy, and my vote is NO. Polterwang does no one favours.

    • thedogsmother

Dear lord that’s alarming! Trying to get attention is getting stranger, weirder and more yech than ever.

    • Jo Miller

As a straight female, I can say these pics don’t make me want to switch sides. I feel embarrassed for Jennifer Lopez.

    • BuffaloBarbara

I’m… confused.  Just really confused.  What the hell is that?

    • Emma Jean

      Gay girl – ….yes.

      • Alix Genter

        WORD.  Love it.

      • IrmaLaDuce

right there with you. Especially #4.

      • howdoilook

Apparently this picture was for us lesbos. The guys aren’t jiving on it either! hehe.

      • birdhead

YEP hi JLo you can push me around anytime.

Kind of upset by the comments here though. :-/ You can not think this is sexy without being like, it’s terrifying, it’s disgusting. The pictures are interesting. But if she’s not being sexy it’s horrifying, it’s yucky? IDK y’all. :(

        • Rei Carter

I’m pretty saddened by the comments as well. .

        • Bat Hewitt

Yup, but is it really surprising that people are close minded? 😛
Bi girl here, and I find it excruciatingly hot.

I understand the concept; I mean, isn’t this issue of V the sports issue? And boxing is a big deal in Puerto Rico, there are currently 4 Puerto Ricans that are world titleholders. I’ve always thought v was avant garde and really and I’m all for some genderplay being brought to the forefront, especially when done by a woman.

This brings back fond memories of the Agent Provocateur 02 catalog entitled “A Sporting Life”.

        • Urban Gypsy aka Tess

Yeah, I don’t really buy her in this editorial but just because it may not be hot to a lot of people doesn’t make it horrifying. A lot of people out there pack and play with gender roles and I find them sexy as hell because they’re living their authentic selves and they own it. This is off for me because it feels like dress up. While J-Lo is gorgeous, this just falls flat for me.

          • muzan-e

This is off for me because it feels like dress up.

Thank you. You’ve summed up my feelings in one perfect sentence.

        • janedonuts

Well, I think some of us feel like not only is it not hot, but it’s an actual turnoff. And that’s OK too!

          • birdhead

Sure. But I don’t think it’s okay to call it disturbed, frightening, yucky, gross, “hermaphrodite” (because that’s the worst thing in the world, obviously), etc. You don’t have to like the pictures. But your dislike doesn’t make it OK to trash her, or androgynous, intersex, and trans people generally.

        • Kamil

I just said so myself, but yeah, I think these are hot beyond the telling of it. And yes, the misogyny saddens me as well. Who knew ao many people here thought girls should be ribbon and bow bedecked at all times, lest they be skeery, awful things?

          • Basil Von Broccoli

I was pretty surprised to see so many negative comments to this post. I’ve learned to expect them at most gossip blogs, but… not here. I guess I thought a site full of Drag Race fans would be fairly open to ladies genderbending as well.

My concern with the editorial is that (since J-Lo isn’t known for this sort of thing) it’s playing on sensationalism, but in general I love the concept and the images.

            • Tom and Lorenzo

Because those Drag Race fans never have an unkind word or criticism of drag queens? You need to re-read those posts again.

        • muzan-e

Well now, the contouring they’ve (over)done to her cheeks? I think that is pretty horrifying! *g*

But honestly, that’s the problem for me: it’s not just Another Pretty Photoshoot, but it lacks all the essential grit and sweat and honesty that would’ve made it seriously hot – for me, who loves a girl who looks like she could kick my ass. *g*   The photos are a pretty artist mugging at the camera, dressed in an assortment of clashing ideas –

I dunno. This is from one of my favourite ever photoshoots. It’s smouldering.   What they’ve created up there is too jarring, though, for me to really appreciate it – except as an attempt to try something a bit different.

        • MeredithCallahan

Ditto. I was super-saddened to read them. Remember, if you blur gender lines, you’re a monster…? Gross.

        • Grace

Also worth pointing out: some women do have penises (some trans and/or intersex women). I can’t imagine it feels great to see a whole page of comments about how disgusting it is to think of a woman having a penis.

        • Leah Cronen

Straight girl here, not even remotely a JLo fan, and I think it’s pretty damn hot.

Like, really guys? This is “disgusting” and “terrifying”? It’s like it’s the first time y’all have seen a woman styled to look gender ambiguous. Really disappointed.

          • Tom and Lorenzo

We like how you put “disgusting” and “terrifying” in quotes, even though you won’t find either of those words in the post.

            Very clever.

            • Leah Cronen

Nono, guys! I meant the comments saying it was terrifying or disgusting replying to your post. Nothing wrong with the question you posed in your post. Shoulda clarified. :)

            • Tom and Lorenzo

Sorry about that. We took “guys” to mean, well… us.

      • Rei Carter

        Bi-girl and yes…a lot actually.

      • rainashes

Agreed. Never thought much of JLo before, but these? Yum. Fierce and hot.

      • debra steinman

If that is the case ……….after the way she was treated by her husband, who can blame her?

    • Aly Light

As a non-straight woman, my verdict is “not really.”

    • Jenna Ryan Boatman

      WTF? This is just horrible.

    • Ginger

      This is a joke, right?

This reeks of desperation…desperation to stay relevant.

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

    • Alli

Dammit TLo, now I can’t unsee the Oscar reference!

Before you mentioned that I was going to say that I thought it was hot in an early 90’s Madonna way – I think it’s a combo of the hair and eyebrows.

    • bingoG7

I say…Let’s bring back the camel toe!

    • DinaSews

Oh puhleeeeze.  I just finished my lunch and saw this.  I hope I don’t hurl.

    • Kate K. F.

Underboob is no one’s friend and the protection thing is just odd. It’s a good idea for a shoot and her hair and face styling is intriguing but it falls apart on a closer look.

I didn’t know she could do androgynous so well. She should try this again just with a better stylist.

    • cmb92191

Hilary Swank pulled off the boxing look much better in Million Dollar Baby!  In these shots, JLo looks confused.

      • Ginger

And it’s all because the focus wasn’t to look sexy.

    • Sara__B

      Well. Um. Why?  Speechless.

    • Jecca2244

I feel like there are 2 types of weird in fashion mags…the W weird where it is actually beautiful and artistic even at first jarring then this…..uncomfortable…..Kind of surprised this is Testino.

      • Denise Alden

But I’m not surprised at all that this is Roitfeld.  It’s got her vulgar, disgusting fingerprints all over it.

    • Amelia Logan

      What The Fuck?

    • joancarol

    • Mylynka

ACK!  I am so disturbed by this. That is all.

    • Heather McIlrath

      this is scary

    • kimmeister

She’s looking more like Mario Lopez here.

Disturbing.  I’d rather see her go full masculine (like Lady Gaga’s alter ego a year ago) than do this vamping hermaphrodite thing.

    • Ms_Flyover

      • Kiltdntiltd

        You got it in one!

        • Ms_Flyover

The only problem is that I’ve been mentally humming Adam and the Ants since I typed it…

    • Marguerite

Straight woman here, but from where I’m sitting there isn’t too much sexy going on.  Maybe the picture in the Armani shorts can be construed as sexy, but the rest are just kind of strange.

    • Bree The Vole

I’m a lesbian who loves some Jennifer Lopez and would love to see her all dragged up, but these are painfully unhot. I don’t totally object to black and white photos though, I’d just like to see them in different context.

    • Kimmu

Google futanari. If you dare. There are plenty of people who do find this sort of thing hot. I can even admit that I often love some good genderfuck sexy times.

As for this particular photoset, JLo has never done anything to excite me below the belt, and she’s not doing it now either.

    • laurenoodle

She has a polterwang in the crotch area

    • erodahs

Yeeaah, not really.  I mean its not that its unattractive, its just ridiculous.  The focus is clearly on, I’m going to call it the crotch pocket for lack of a better term, and is just unnerving and distracting.

    • laurenoodle

And as a bi woman who doesn’t find JLO attractive normally…this doesn’t help matters at all

    • Mary Carpenter

What gets me is the insinuation that a women has to have a “penis” to fight back.

      • Ms_Flyover

God, you’re right.  And what the hell does she have to fight back from, anyway?

      • Caaro3

        Wow.  That’s a stretch . . .

    • sagecreek

Why is she wearing a codpiece?

      No, really…why?

    • Violina23

      I’ve seen it… I can’t un-see it….  *wimper*

    • janetjb

Not interesting except that I now want to see her with real short hair.

      • emeazul

She did sport some during her In Living Color days…of course, that was a time without the tan, super sculpted body and styling.

        Fly Girl

      • formerlyAnon

Yes. The shoot looks awkward to me – neither sexy nor powerful – but if that head & face can be duplicated without Photoshop she needs to get into her hair stylist for a boy cut, like, NOW.

    • crash1212

I think she looks fierce! What a brilliant idea to dress her against the normal JLo look! Me likey….and it’s sexy as hell. She’s a gorgeous woman.

    • Cathy S

Between the penis pouch and the revealing underboob, I’m thinking this is, technically speaking, yucky.

    • AlieMichelle

The androgynous thing usually works for me and I have to say I love the hair and face, but everything below the waist is just too much for me.

    • mommyca

Is she auditioning for the sequel of “A Million dollar baby”?
      Oy…. don’t like it at all…..

    • Ceur

What exactly is she ‘fighting back’ against? Irrelevance?

      • AthenaJ

I almost spit out my salad just now… lol!!!

    • xmixiex

why does it have to be I want to sex her hot? is that the only reason us girls exist?

      • Tom and Lorenzo

My, yes. We’re always saying that around here. Practically our motto. We should put it under “Fabulous & Opinionated.” “Girls exist solely for sex!”

        • xmixiex

exactly… ya don’t. which makes the question all the more puzzling.

          • Tom and Lorenzo

What’s puzzling is how you don’t seem to see the semi-naked, greased up model touching her crotch with her mouth open.

    • BayTampaBay

This editorial is pure concentrated awful.

    • louisethesneeze

I thought it was pretty awesome in a Girl Power! sort of way until I got to the underboob. Then I realized it was just trying to be “sexy” yet again. Gross.

    • Marguerite Woodward

Has anyone considered that maybe they weren’t trying to make her look sexy under the hetero male gaze? I think it’s a really interesting editorial and I applaud her for doing something so different. It’s the best modeling I’ve ever seen out of her.

      • mereberlin

        jinx :)

      • SewingSiren

I guess that would be worth considering if it weren’t for the , you know , poses.

      • Tom and Lorenzo

Maybe not strictly for the straight male gaze, but there’s no question the goal here was “hot.”

        • Marguerite Woodward

I feel like the spread is supposed to make the typical viewer a little uncomfortable. It’s juxtaposing traditional sexual cues with distinctly nontraditional androgyny or even hermaphroditism/transsexualism. If anything, call V out on using shock value to sell mags, but don’t criticize the spread for featuring an unusual sort of sexuality. Lots of people–men and women–find this sort of imagery (if not this exact set of photos) to be sexy. This is as much a response to all of the “EW!”s in the comments than to TLo’s slightly narrow-minded framing.

          • Tom and Lorenzo

Who is “criticizing the spread for featuring an unusual sexuality?” The spread features a typically heterosexual celebrity model.

          • BrooklynBomber

I don’t see “unusual sexuality”; at best I can say there may have been an initial idea of unusual sexuality, but it was abandoned, like they didn’t trust the original idea. “Uh oh! JLo w/ a boy’s haircut & boxing gloves! Yikes, we’d better make sure to show her girly thighs and midriff, put her in high heels, and make the t-shirt look more like a bra!” So, to me, anyway, it could have been interesting, but ended up boring and trying too hard.

          • Denise Alden

“It’s juxtaposing traditional sexual cues with distinctly nontraditional androgyny or even hermaphroditism/transsexualism.”  I don’t agree.  Juxtaposing, nothing.  It’s JLo as drag king.  Frankly, I’ve seen better, sexier, more clever images at a local cabaret show.

            • FashionShowAtLunch

Not exactly. I have never seen a drag king expose underboob. Or inner thigh.

          • formerlyAnon

Well, I don’t know if I’m typical but this misses the boat on making me uncomfortable and it does nothing for me otherwise, either, from her neck down. (Fan of the hair.)

And I’m usually quite taken with androgyny, FWIW.

It just looks awkward, like you asked a person without sexual feelings to pose ‘sexy’ and then had someone without sexual feelings choose & edit the photos. Going through the motions and not really understanding what they’re aiming at.

(edited for grammar &, hopefully, clarity)

    • mereberlin

Why does it need to be hot? I applaud her for doing something that isn’t aiming straight for the “I want to sex her” response. Woman are allowed to have other looks than sex object, you know.

      • BrooklynBomber

Because it’s TRYING to be hot. Sex object is exactly what it’s going for. TLo are taking it on its own terms and asking if it’s succeeding or not.

      • Ceur

Oh, come on. She’s touching her crotch while her mouth is open. They are definitely aiming for hot, here.

    • Kiltdntiltd

Disturbing is the message coming across here. She looks fierce of face, and bod is amazing. Still, kinda weird, in kinky hot kinda way.

    • KaileeM

      What the what? So confused!

    • Stefanos Mantyla

I despise JLo for being all around tasteless, but even I am willing to give her credit here for something interesting. When it comes to taste, I think we can grade her on a curve.

Not hot, to me, but at little interesting.

    • EEKstl

One need look no further than a random Tilda Swinton editorial to see how androgyny SHOULD be done.  This is kindergarten, transparently opportunistic and inane.  And worse still, unattractive.

    • moohoop

underboob shot kinda desperate, but otherwise… not really hot or sexy, but pretty cool in my opinion

    • granddelusion

I’m so tired of JLo’s private parts. And her penis envy. Hell, I’m tired of JLo.

    • GeekChicSuperfreak

      “None of y’all…”

That’s disappointing, TLo. Though you may not have meant it, and I am inclined to think that you did not, you made it sound as though gay and bi gals’ opinions don’t count for much in the reckoning of what’s hot and not.

    • Megan Patterson

      I dunno, I’m sure it’s SOMEONE’S fetish

    • Elaine

um, what about all the lesbians and queer women! it looks like it was meant for us…. or straight boys into pegging. Don’t be such fuddy duddies T+L! Hooooooowever, as a super sex-positive kinky queer woman, this does. not. work. She’s not feelin it, so neither are we.

    • rketeckt

Straight boy…nothing remotely sexy about this spread.

    • Kristy Evans

As a gay lady, I will say…no. That is not hot. I love me some androgyny, but that weird pseudo-cup is just…well, weird.

    • raena colby

all i can think looking at this is: she has a penis.

    • Jessica TallGirl Freeman

OMFG. At first glance I thought that was Adam Lambert. Enough said.

    • miagain

I am so tired of this woman… clutching her crotch or wearing a barely there dress… just go away you silly creature, just go away!!

    • Larry Gelberg

      Straight boy Larry: ew. no.

    • altalinda

Another lesbian PUF says, yes, sexy….and disturbing.

    • butterflysunita

Don’t know whether it’s hot, but I love seeing a female boxer.  I’m a woman who boxes and it’s a great workout!  Also, any woman over forty with a body like that is definitely seriously working out–so why not?

      • amywinns

Was wondering especially what serious female boxers would think of this… seems kind of insulting to the women working so hard to be respected as FIGHTERS by the men in the gyms.

        • butterflysunita

Good point.  I’m not a serious boxer, but I do box.  Maybe this shoot is a concept I like, but badly executed?

    • amywinns

Whatever points she gains for doing something different are lost by thrusting her faux baboon-like engorged red ladyparts forward at the camera and making the “protection” the dead center focal point.
It looks like she finds the whole thing kind of amusing, but not sexy or empowering. It’s like a kid playing at grownup. And whatever you think of JLo, the “I’m like a kid!” ship has saiiiled.

OTOH, I think it’s cool makeup and hair… so striking! Would love to see her rock a short ‘do someday. But, y’know, with dignity.

    • Anastasia_B

Weird. Confused. Scary. Desperate. And now we know why she and Marc Anthony were married.

    • FashionShowAtLunch

It’s nontraditional as hell, and it might not be hot to a lot of people, but there’s no denying she’s exuding a good amount of sexuality here.

    • Jessica

Freaky.  I’d like to forget that I’ve seen these photos, por favor.

    • joancarol

These pics remind me of her pre-nose job,  In Living Color Fly girl look,

    • BrooklynBomber

I was drawn to the thumbnail, and disappointed when I saw the rest. I wish they’d gone all the way with the drag. White t shirt (not made to look like a bra), loose shorts, get rid of those ridiculous high heels. It would have been a lot more intriguing. As it is, it’s banal.

      • formerlyAnon

She would have been really cute dressed as you describe.  But I think she’s too desperate to aim at, or [in her mind] settle for “cute.”

    • aimee_parrott

Frickin terrifying.  Seriously, she’s so pretty, why the codpiece?

    • Sara Munoz

Word up! It’s the caaaallll wooorrrrrrrrrrd. No matter where you say it, you know that you’ll be heard.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Um. Well her face looks great and this is certainly attention-grabbing, which is eight up her alley. My husband has long maintained that he does not see the appeal of the underboob, combine that witha padding penis and I know one straight male who would look the other way.

    • cornpicker73

      Yikes. And underboob? really?

    • howdoilook

Ummm as a gay girl…yes. This is hot.

    • AthenaJ

“As a mother, entertainer, person, and hermaphrodite…”

    • caitscott

I’m surprised by the overwhelming dismissal of this shoot simply because she doesn’t look generic sexy. It’s supposed to make you confused by how you feel about it. This isn’t high art androgeny, it’s sexbomb JLo with teenage boy fantasy underboob and a giant penis bulge. It’s meant to make you question why you are kind of turned on and horrified at the same time.

      • Denise Alden

I’m not confused by how I feel about it at all.  It looks desperate and stupid, which makes me feel vaguely pissed and mostly bored.

      • formerlyAnon

Well, I’m not the target audience, I guess. I don’t feel confused, turned on or horrified. Disappointed because the head is great (love the hair) and the rest just feels like a wasted opportunity.

It just looks kind of awkward to me.

But if she can look that good in that hair without the aid of photo-editing, she needs to get a hair cut.

    • blue

It would be hot if it weren’t for the bottom…thingy. It looks like a diaper rather than…whatever they expected it too look like (a woman with a big dick?).

    • kamo12

I hate to say it, but she’s giving better Joe Calderone than Gaga…

    • histrogeek

As a straight male interpreter, I’m going to go with no. The codpiece boxing shorts are killing any sexiness for the straight male. I think they’re going for tough and sexy, not scary, but they totally missed the mark.
Can’t speak for the lesbian crowd (are they even in V’s demographic?) but she really doesn’t look that hot butch-y either, which I imagine they were going for. (Call Michelle Rodriguez next time, she does hot butch all the time . Or Ali’s daughter whose first name I forget.)

    • Sharon Iverly

I’d be into it if they nixed the overly-prominent codpiece.

    • Sharon Iverly

I’d be into it if they nixed the overly-prominent codpiece.

    • Helen

after nip slip, now she wants to grow male genital. nothing but disgusting.

    • Helen

after nip slip, now she wants to grow male genital. nothing but disgusting.

    • Sara L.

I don’t understand everyone’s problem, I guess? I mean, we all know JLo doesn’t have a penis. I find the pictures kind of funny. I don’t find them “yuck” or “disturbing” or any of the other words being tossed around in ye old comment section. I think her hair is actually kind of cute, and enjoy seeing her out of her divatastic mode. As to the sex appeal, I have no opinion on that. I just think people are reacting rather strongly to someone playing dress-up.

    • Sara L.

    • annetten

I… seem to like the black and white shots a lot, upon closer inspection. But the majority of these are odd and slightly disturbing.

    • serenitynow02

Underboob + fake dick will never = anything other than vulgar to me. She sure doesn’t look like she’s having any trouble getting over the loss of her vampire husband.

    • Terence Ng

She looks just like Omahyra Mota and I love it. A totally different side of her.

    • Anathema_Device

She looks a bit like Cindy Crawford in some of these photos. I’m not sure she looks hot. She looks beautiful and quite shiny. The underboob pic is sort of funny, like she is wearing one of her kids’ diapers and t-shirt.  Although, there are those would find that hot, I guess. Ick.

    • Sarah Caponigro

Armani T Shirt…..Customized….. you mean…. chopped to show boobs right?

    • Briarnoir

This is incredibly weird. And frankly, I completely /love it/ for that.
I’m certainly intrigued and want to crack open the magazine to find out what the hell this is all about. There’s an edginess and an intensity and a completely bizarre adrogeny, all while she is bringing it with her face. It reminds me of the youtube video that shows girls taking on the male roles of men on a night out and gender flipping the scenario through changing postures/provocations.

    • Anna Vasquez

Straight female here. I get girl crushes on hot women who look like they can kick your ass, so yes, this is hot. Also, the eyebrow makeup really emphasizes her Hispanic-ness, so yay.

    • Kate4queen

I love the strength in her face here, but the rest, not doing it for me in anyway.

    • RroseSelavy

I love a good codpiece, but ewww.

    • Jasper Peng

The crotch thing is bizzare, but everything above the neck is amazing! She hasn’t had a new look in a long, long time, and the strong brows and butch styling really play well off her small, soft features.

    • Janie R

    • mjude

TLO said “We can’t help thinking of those pictures of Oscar de la Hoya in fishnets and heels. And now you can’t either”  how right you are…thanks!

    • Heather

IS this supposed to appeal to straight men? Because if so, why does she look like she’s packing?

This isn’t hot. It’s just weird. It kind of reminds me of that awful movie she was in where she learned martial arts in order to save herself from her psycho husband.

    • skadi1

Straight Husband says it’s not doing it for him. The leather codpiece diaper is particularly off-putting. It seems like a very narrow population who is going to find this anything but strange and unflattering.

    • ecallaw

Wow.  I am so embarrassed for her.  Yes, she looks gorgeous, but I don;t think I’ve ever seen a movie star appear so desperate.

    • StelledelMare

    • alyce1213

Whose face and body is that?

    • Emily Scott

I love some good gender bending, but this isn’t it. If she was styled to be much more androgynous then it might be at least intriguing, but as it is she just looks like a tough chick with a penis. It’s unsettling and off-putting. Oscar de la Hoya was actually much closer to the mark.

Frankly I’m surprised she agreed to this.

    • Stevie Lo

Does she remind anyone else of Gaga’s dude alter ego in this editorial?

    • siena Mystic

I wonder if they’re riffing off Delilah Montoya’s photos of women boxers? Like so

    • ringthing

      Blech. Her poor kids.

    • MissFern

Can’t determine hotness but I kind of like the non-diva, no-makeup thing.  Kind of refreshing.

    • RebeccaKW

Well, she looks good in the bodysuit and the one in the shorts.  And the last 2.  but the ones with the cod piece are odd.  What’s the message-that you can’t be strong without A. having a penis or B. wanting a penis?  It really just looks like a giant diaper.

I am a straight woman, but I do appreciate women’s sexiness.  But I don’t really see it here.  I don’t want to see a man grab his crotch, I certainly don’t want to see a woman do it.

I’m also not certain what she’s fighting back from.  Or, what Lady Gaga has to do with the ‘Sports’ issue.

    • Toto Maya

This bisexual says no, not hot. If she was a guy, it still wouldn’t be hot.

    • Jessica Goldstein

Yee gads, polterwang and underboob in the same pictures. I’m not their market segment, but nothing about any of these pictures strikes me as even remotely appealing.

    • VicksieDo

      Very very hot!

    • Sarah Aronson

    • rab01

Straight guy here. I wouldn’t normally discuss on this site whether particular photos or models are “hot” but since you asked … these photos aren’t targeted at me. She’s done plenty of other photos where I have found her to be attractive but I’m not personally into adrogyny much. That said, I thought the photos were interesting, not as boring as most celebrity spreads, and didn’t try to infantilize her as seems to happen so often in photoshoots of female celebrities.

    • Vickiefantastico

Ick. I find it frightening as well. And I have to say something. I am also a mother of young kids, and I find it so disappointing of her to pose like that. Maybe I’m a prude, but that’s just slutty. Not artistic. Not sexy. Just slutty. And as a mother, she should be above that. Does she really want her son or daughter to see that one day? I sincerely hope not.

      Bad form, Ms. Lo.

    • marilyn

    • Rebecca

That last picture is the cutest I have ever seen JLo look–I love her snarl.

    • Amy

As a woman who has done martial arts/boxing…heck, as a woman in general…these photos confuse and frighten me. They possibly offend me as well but right now I am too busy being confused and frightened.

I will consult a straight man for feedback.

    • Catherine Chandler

this lesbian approves.  hot hot hot.

    • Judy_J

Disturbing.  Don’t find this at all appealing.

    • Gayer_Than_Thou

She’s aiming for 90s Madonna here.

    • Caitlin Bergmann

I like the weird juxtaposition between the crazy codpiece action she has going on and the top. Either way, gets you talking.

    • Claudeth Forbin

Jenny, you are way to old to be doing this.  You look fabulous.  If this is your new cut.  Keep it, it works.  But you are trying waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too hard to turn back the hands of time.  Trust me when I say this.  Time stops for no man, woman, stylist or photo shoot.

Because this screams, you got issues.

    • saanrio

Nothing about this says “sexy” to me.  I see ‘confused,’ I see ‘trying too hard,’ but no ‘sexy.’

    • Nancer

I can’t weigh in on this, but this is certainly an odd looking photo spread. Such a beautiful woman, what on earth was the point of this?

    • kolokOlchik

Why does she have a penis?

I mean, it could be sexy, but umm, you know, the penis…

    • Clydette Wantland

Very poor taste, not sexy or mildly interesting at all.

    • FashionShowAtLunch

Y’ALL.  Quit with the pearl-clutching.  If it doesn’t float your boat, that doesn’t make it deviant and disgusting.

And seriously, what is wrong with being a “hermaphrodite”? (the correct term is actually intersex)

Are nontraditional people not allowed to be sexy? Is nobody allowed to find people with ambiguous biology (for lack of a better phrase) sexy?

Further, are women only sexy if they are dressed in traditional feminine attire? I echo others who are expressing their dismay at some of the comments on what is ostensibly a gay-friendly site.

    • debra steinman

My husband looked at these pics.  He said that the pics were beautiful, sexy, and frightening in that order.

As I was about to expel him to the shed … he added…

      “Only one problem with her”

      I asked him ‘what’?

      “She’s not YOU.”

      I think I’ll ‘keep’ him.

      • butterflysunita

        That is so sweet!  :)

    • formerlyAnon

From the shoulders up the cover shot is nice and dramatic.

But the rest just looks awkward. And like she’d last about 30 seconds in the ring. Against a 14 year old. Male or female.

ETA: Whose idea was this? I hope there was nepotism involved, it’s the only rational excuse.

    • Liana Brooks

Why is she grabbing her crotch? It’s like drag, done badly, in reverse. I can’t stop staring at her… never mind. >.<

No, TLo, it's not pretty for anyone. I don't think we need a straight male to tell us that.

    • EditKitten

Per my husband: “Yes, she’s hot. I want to be her jock strap in that photo.”

    • julnyes

I wonder what she is fighting back against? Nah, I really don’t care.

As for the looks, I think the hair and make-up are fantastic but find the boxer codpiece thingie (what is it called?) really silly looking.  One person’s silly is another person’s hot so no judgment there.

    • Joyce VG

This Bi is not aroused by Jenny From The Block…but I will say she is working the HOT DRAG KING look to me.

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I’m kind of shocked at the super-negative reactions.  I’m bi and I think it’s interesting and kind of hot.  We know she can do diva, but who knew she had such amazing cheekbones?

I will say it would have been more interesting if Lady Gaga hadn’t done it first…

      • MilaXX

I don’t find it hot, but aside from the cod pieces which look uncomfortable I think it’s an okay shoot It actually reminds me of that movie were she played an abused wife who finally stands up against her crazy husband.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Not hot.  Weird.  Doesn’t even look like JLo.  What did they do to her eyebrows?  Bleah.

      • MilaXX

I think they were going for a androgyny or drag king look with the hair & makeup, hence the oddly shaped brows.

    • chloemerchant

    • Kimbolina

The underboob is sort of trashy.

I don’t really care for the crotch protector (crotch guard?) so my final verdict is “Mehhh.”

    • dress_up_doll

Typical Jenny. Trying to be relevant as usual.

    • Jesser Biscuit

Bisexual in the house.  I’d tap that.

    • juliabe

I’m a straight girl and I find this photoshoot very hot. Like VERY hot!! Never thought I could say this about Jlo…

    • Mariah J

They’re pretty “cool”, probably not going for sexy but who knows

    • SpcilK

      Good Bye!

    • kaycem

i am a gay lady and fully qualified to make the following ruling:  UNFFFFFFFF!

but to be fair, i think this is *for* the gay ladies ~ straight guys wouldn’t necessarily be flocking toward a woman sporting this androgynous of a look.  but me, and other lady-loving-ladies like me, usually perk up and pay attention lol.  it worked for evan rachel wood, why not j.lo?  courting the lesbos is what’s hot in the streets, and if that means i get served face and underboob, well then keep it coming, hollywood.

      • Cassie (C.M.W.)

Perhaps a 0 on the Kinsey wouldn’t flock toward this look, but my slightly-flexible Englishman loves it! (And so do I.)

    • lrhoff

      What the *(^%$#>?!!!

    • Laura O’Gorman

What a daring shoot for any woman to take on, famous actress or not!

This is not a culture that likes to blur too many gender lines. There are specifically marked areas where it’s okay but most people have no idea how to react to someone who isn’t firmly planted in one gender. I mean, just look at the comments here: “scary”, “frightening”, “weird”, “beyond disturbing”, “gross”, and so on.

I don’t mean this as a critique — those are very natural reactions. But it’s a fascinating insight to where people’s lines are. Notice you don’t see comments like this on the RuPaul posts.

It might be an interesting discussion: why are these photos more disturbing than the drag queens we cheer on every week? Is it because she appears to be a woman with male genitalia or is it because we are more comfortable with men dressing as women than the other way around?

      • FashionShowAtLunch

“why are these photos more disturbing than the drag queens we cheer on every week?”

        Very good question indeed.

        • Tom and Lorenzo

If we showed pictures of drag queens greased up, half naked, and grabbing their crotches this would be a great question. Otherwise, it’s just a leading question.

And plenty of people here – including us – have mentioned that they find oversexualized drag queens to be, at best, squirm-inducing.

          • FashionShowAtLunch

But most of the comments here are quite reactionary to the gender-bending quality of it, not the oversexualization of it.  There’s a lot of “yuck”, “gross”, “ew”, “why does she have a penis??!”.  So it’s not really a false equivalency, if you’re talking about people’s differential reactions to nontraditional portrayals of gender.  It wouldn’t bother me as much if people’s disgust seemed to be only in reaction to her “oversexed” poses.

I have no problem with your post, btw.  It’s a legit question, because clearly she was going for sexy.  I’m just kind of disappointed at the tone of many of these comments.

            • Tom and Lorenzo

Fair enough. We just don’t like to see every negative reaction classified as some form of bias. The fact is, practically any editorial we post here gets some dorm of “That’s disturbing” commentary, and practically any J Lo editorial we post here yes some form of negative commentary. Some people see this as a statement on gender norms or as a representation of lesbians or the transgendered. For others it’s just another goofy celebrity editorial.

            • FashionShowAtLunch

Agreed, and frankly, I have my own negative reaction: it doesn’t work for me either, obviously not because of the gender play, but because she’s JLo and I basically can’t stand her.  I’d like to see the same shoot with a different model and a little less crotch-thrusting.

I’m generally a-ok with negative opinions (I have plenty, and I love to make them known), but I suppose it’s too much to expect that all negative opinions posted on the internet are well-articulated and free from bias.

      • Alex McGeagh

        fabulous questions indeed.

    • GorgeousThings

I said it the other day; I’ll say it again. I am so tired of JLo’s tits.

      I smell desperation.

    • holdmewhileimnaked

she’s like the american version of posh spice, at least here.

    • BookishBren

      She looks like a hermaphrodite.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

    • newtonGOTbeaned

I actually think this suits her. She looks beautiful and muscular, and I like that she’s playing against type.

    • Deborah Jozayt

My husband said Hell no. Her crotch is now bigger than his.

    • Trotter Roller

I can tell you the gay ladies find that pretty hot.  Thanks for giving us a shout-out…

    • butter nut

zzzzzzz…….. madonna did this like 20 yrs ago.

    • Kerry McCombs

      What. The. Hell?

    • Olivia St.Clair Hart

Hey T Lo…I’m delurking to represent all lesbians everywhere. I presume we were actually the audience for this editorial.  Bad marketing, since we are a niche, but very effective, since she looks like a gorgeous butch/femme hybrid.  It’s pitch perfect jock femme realness and she looks amazing.

    • Pants_are_a_must

This is even worse than that time Lady Gaga pretended to be an Italian guy.

      • Amy Ennis

Lady Gaga as the Italian guy turned me on. This doesn’t.

    • prettybigkitty

I want to put my hand under her chin and close her mouth.  Can’t get past that.  Oh and the fact she bugs.

    • Kamil

I dunno from straight boys, but this lezzie finds that set of shots smoking hot.   Mind, I doubt I’m their target audience, but they’re working for me. Oh, yes.

    • StrShawn

This is not sexy at all. Her Oscar dress was sexy. I love women & fashion but this is not for GQ, Esquire or other Men’s mag target audience.

    • Tiger Gray

Woo gender fuck! Woo butchy realness! So yeah, I love it. (not a straight guy but I am way queer enough to judge, imo)

    • Emily Rose

WHY DOES SHE HAVE A PACKAGE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

    • TigerLaverada

I’m not lesbian, but I think she looks pretty great. I also agree with the previous poster about the riskiness of such a shoot and give props to JLo for doing it. I’ve never seen boxer crotch protection wear before, so it’s also an educational article for moi.

    • juliamargaret

Straight woman here. I think she looks hot and am surprised to see so many “ew” and “disturbing” comments here. Aside from the boxing protective gear, it seems like a pretty standard sexy tough girl shoot. I am not a fan of JLo the mother/entertainer/person, but I think she looks sexy and beautiful in a tough girl way in these photos, even with the boxing codpiece thing on.

      • minnye

I was going to post a similar comment.  I even kinda like the genderbending codpiece, although it’s a little surprising to see it on straight up hoochie JLo.  Love the fierce hair, reminds me of her In Living Color days.

    • Jo Koster

I am thinking more “desperate” than “hot.”

    • kittenwithaquip

JLo mean-muggin’ and wearing a cod piece. Not sexy in the least. Frankly, I wish someone would make JLo put her goodies away. I get it– she’s getting older, had a couple of kids, getting a divorce…she wants to remind us she’s Sexy. Unfortunately, she’s coming off less sexy and more Kartrashian-level Desperate.

    • Sal Neslusan

I don’t get “underboob” men of the world: what is sexy about underboob???

    • Allison Woods

From the waist up, I think it totally works. Otherwise, no thanks!

    • Addicted2Glamour

Fifteen years ago I wanted J-Lo to JUST.GO.AWAY. Funny, the more things change, the more they stay the same…

    • Carrieanno

      Pleather diaper, pre-filled?

    • Tara Burkholder

Maybe lesbians would find it hot?

    • S. Jenna Lutz

While I’m not a straight boy, I did waylay my husband who IS and show him the pics.

And I quote “Who’s the pretty bo…. Crap. That’s Lopez? What the hell?”

So… I’m going with a solid “nope, not sexy.” She DOES make a pretty boy though. So maybe it’s not a question for the straight lads. Maybe someone should call in a few bi-lads?

    • Melissa Brogan

My husband saw this. He was not impressed.

    • Vera

I find the shoot more provocative than sexy, and not at all scary. Besides, JLo knows how to get the tongues a-wagging.

    • snarkykitten

I kinda like Butch Jen. …a lot.

    • Daenyx

Well, I *do* like women, but this wasn’t shot for bi/lesbian women, either.  Ew.  If she was in an actual fighting stance, this wouldn’t make me cringe so hard, but somehow I think that would be just a little bit past the average comfort zone of that magazine’s readers…

Edit – wait… this magazine isn’t even targeted at men?!? I can’t even.

    • Cathleen Langeler Francis

I brought my husband in to consult on this one and he agrees, scary – not hot.

    • Larry Gelberg

      Straight Guy Larry: ew. no.

    • Psy_Chick

She looks like a drag queen here, and not a very fishy one.

    • Derek_anny

If I can ignore the pelvis protection, then yes it’s kind of hot.  The boxing padding brings it out of sexy into working-athletic, a place where sexyness is fairly irrelevant. There is a practicality option of styling, which would play into the sexyness of skill, that would be possible.  That’s option wasn’t taken.  Even if it were, it would be jarring coming from JLo, who’s persona isn’t really connected to that kind of physicality.  (Angelina maybe)

    • Meg P. W.

According to my husband, this is “decidedly not hot. What’s even going on?”. As a lady who likes pretty ladies, I’d have to agree with both sentiments.

    • brookeinmn

    • quiltrx

As a dog-mother, quilter, pharmacist, and person…this creeps me the hell out.

    • A Hepburn

Will a lesbian do? Cause there are a few shots here that are quite hot. The D&G body suit, the Prada jacket, the Max Mara jacket, and the last two. She’s seriously reminding me of Corky from Bound in this shoot actually (face and hair), and that is definitely hot. I don’t however find the fake massive bulge hot or the under breast thing when it’s cut off so weirdly.

      • Amanda Gun

I agree, I feel like this is proof positive that Mario Testino loves his ladygays! I could also do without the bulge, but to be honest I don’t think it detracts too much.

    • Laura King

Husband says, “Absolutely, no, she is NOT hot.” I add for him, “in these pictures.”

    • Qitkat

Well, it ain’t Million Dollar Baby.

    • Amy Ennis

      Husband’s opinion: ugh.

    • K

Padded leather diaper shorts are never attractive. It doesn’t even look like she could close her legs if she wanted, therefore weird poses.
She looks really photoshopped in the face, super angular cheekbones, not just from contouring. We all just saw at the oscars, she does not look like that.
She is working it, however, I’m surprised she agreed to the leather panty diapers.

I just convinced (forced) my husband to look at these pictures.  He thought the pictures were of a man at first, and did not think any of the pictures were sexy in any way.

    • Aline Prantl

Why does it seem to be OK when men do gender-fuck, but not for women? Just asking.

      • Tom and Lorenzo

Who said such a thing? Or are you just putting words in someone else’s mouth?

        Just asking.

        • Aline Prantl

Sorry, I just remembered having posted that. Occasionally I would remember and feel bad about it, so I’d like o apologize. Better late than never, I hope.

I think this is wonderful! if it wasn’t J-Lo, if it was just some nameless model that you didn’t know, you would have no idea if this was a man or a woman. When I saw the pics at first I was like “why does J-Lo have a penis?”, but the more I look at the pics I find these pics to be truly feminist and anti-sexist.
Think about it; If it wasn’t a famous woman, if you didn’t know if the model were male or female, would that be disturbing? if it was a drag queen? if this was a very adrogynous male model with fake tits?
Because gender shouldn’t matter, and with these pics (maybe it’s unintentional by the photographer and by J-Lo herself) the boundaries for what is considered “sexy” and “gender-appropriate” are truly pushed. I think It’s unintentional, but I don’t care. This is a small step in the right direction. And by right direction I mean towards a society where trans-gender people aren’t considered freaks, where you decide yourself what gender you want to be, and maybe a society where you are sexy for being YOU, and not just “an woman whit long legs and big tits” or “a man with abs and broad shoulders”. I don’t know, I wish it would have been a male model in these pics. That would truly be inspiring and ground-breaking!

(btw, i know my spelling isn’t the best, but I hope someone will read and understand what point I’m trying to make!”)

      Is this hot?

      Quite, but not very.

I’d like to have seen a little more flesh and the crotch guard shouldn’t bulge quite so much.

Surprisingly, to me, the skimy top and the sports bra seem to show her breasts are quite small. I don’t mind either way but I always thought her tits were on the large, floating canteloupe scale.

    • Katie Gorman

      Who cares? She looks cool.

Do women celebrities always have to preen and pose to turn straight men on?

    • Larkin21

I think there are aspects that work. I love her hair and I really do like the idea. Mostly, though, I hate that her sports bra doesn’t fit.

    • Farthingale

I went to “Oscar” immediately as well. But I think in the fishnets and heals he goes by “Goldie”.

    • MeredithCallahan

Resident lady-loving commentary thinks the gender-fuckery and aggression are pretty damn sexy, actually.

    • teashell

i’m heteroflexible, and i want to sleep with her.

    • mhlmh

He said no, it’s not hot. But that it’s interesting, and would probably serve to open up some interesting dialogue about strength and beauty. I’m on the fence about whether this is better or worse than the very clingy/showy stuff she usually wears.

    • L.

NO!  Girls don’t like this and boys don’t like this.  What could possibly be her objective in allowing herself to be photographed this way?  She doesn’t have a gender- bending rep. and she doesn’t need the money.  Don’t get this at all!

      • emmafilippa

well, you’re wrong. many people find gender-bending sexy, it’s not just some weird sub-sexuality. playing with different gender-roles is very common. but usually when women are dressed up in mens clothing, they’re dressed in a way  so that straight men will find them sexy and non-threatening (and still look feminine, like when girls dress in a “boyfriend-shirt” and victorias secret-underwear, or with a suit-jacket and nothing underneath).
These pics are maybe not sexy to the average straight guy and the average straight girl might not be able to relate to this. But why should everything in media be aimed to please that demographic? I bet that many people (bi-sexuals, trans-gender people, gay guys who maybe allready had “jump-the-fence” fantasies about J-Lo) will find these pics beautiful, sexy, interesting and refreshing. I’m a straight girl myself, and I find these pics very inspiring, because it’s something new and a step towards a more accepting soceity.
All the comments about how disturbing and ugly this is, just goes to show how important this really is.

        • kentiesgirl

I agree that many people find playing with traditional gender roles sexy, but JLo (haha TLo) is probably not doing these pics for that reason. It reeks of desperation to me. It’s not the breasts and bulge I have a problem with, it’s the aggressive and violent. The one point I agree with L. is that she has zero history of gender-bending, if she did, it might be a whole other story. Imagine, say, Lady Gaga doing this pictorial; it would not even be a conversation.

I don’t mean to be picky, but transgender people are people who are ONE gender, and are awaiting or in the midst of a very long and painful process to become physically who they are truly. Transgender is not a sexual preference-for the person going thru it. I know there are people who are attracted to so called ‘she-males’ (I hate that term, btw). Did you mean that transgender people would appreciate a representation of themselves pre-op? I can appreciate that, but I doubt that was her intention. I just see JLo  practically screaming “I am sexy! Pay attention to me!!

Also, gay mean and women don’t “jump the fence” unless they are trying to be ‘normal’ (ugh) or are bisexual. Which a few philosophers and psychologists have said we all are, to some degree, so perhaps I am way off base there.

I say this very respectfully, and I mean no insult. I know you had the best intentions writing this. It’s just some of these things are close to home for me-but I love that you are passionate and felt compelled to write about acceptance. That’s what we all need. :)

    • afabulous50

It is almost like she is trying sooooo hard to let us all know that she’s hot (according to her anyway).  It is over-kill and over-saturation of one person.  She needs to go away…NOW!

    • aristida_girl

this is weird…if only the stylist would have gone with bootie shorts instead of that man-guard or whatever it is…JLo should not have a penis, even if it is fake…

    • Melissa Janes

I’m bisexual and the answer is yes, it’s pretty hot, but she ought to go easy on the crotch gear.

    • Erin Larkin

Husband says, in a word, no.

I like it better than her regular presentation, anyway. Mermaid hair, begone!

    • sleah_in_norcal

this is a totally east oakland chola look, and i find it hot hot hot.  and i’m ostensibly a straight woman.  well, pretty close to the bi line.  woman’s boxing is very popular in oakland with both straights and lesbians.  and women fighting is a basic element of chola culture.  i was at a first communion party, and my friend and her aunties were ready to take some girl out and whup her ass in the parking lot.  girlfriend had her stilettos off, handed me her jewelry. and was headed to the dance floor to grab the bitch.  but i digress…

      • Jane Dough

I’m a bi woman living in East Oakland too, so hey! But gotta say, I don’t share your opinion on this. It kinds of squicks me, and I’m not sure why.

    • sleah_in_norcal

here is my biased comment for the day.  why are we asking what straight men think?  most of them have no taste.

I had my own opinion, then checked with my husband, just to be sure and  yeah, he agrees. Scary and (in his words) “just awful”

    • Roey Thorpe

Speaking on behalf of some lesbians somewhere… well, hello there!

    • Jane Patterson

I am a huge fan of the “hot women posing as boxers” editorial genre, but the pictures with the ?crotchguard? are Hideous.  Take the out, or hell, just crop the pictures to be from the waist up, and yes, JLo is suddenly making my little dykey heart pitterpat in a way she hasn’t previously.

      • kentiesgirl

The thing is I find her very attractive in the third pic down…but JUST b/c those cropped shirts and how I know she really looks….but find the implied pain of being beaten up very unsexy. Also, it screams *stunt so everyone pays attention to me-look I have a bulge!*

    • Marina_v_K

Very cool – it’s a joke, provocation, fresh, memorable – that counts, right?

    • kentiesgirl

Okay guys, I am late posting, but I just made my very straight hubby look at these pics and asked him if they were sexy. At first he  thought I was trying to prove to him drag queens can look like attractive women (I did that to him on RPDR S1 with Shannel-the one where she juggled in a g-string; he thought she was a “chick” and declared her hot…not sure he ever quite forgave me for that one, hee hee.

I told him it was JLo and he straight up called me a liar and said I was trying to mess with him. He literally said four times “That’s NOT JLo. Stop messing with me”. After almost 20 years together, I learned something new-my husband doesn’t know photoshop exists.

After having to prove it was actually Jennifer Lopez he declared them not hot, even the pics w/o the bulge. He said she was dirty looking and, I quote, “package or not, she looks like a dude. You know I don’t like dudes”. He said the very last one on the right “might be f-able if she didn’t look like she’s just about done taking a dump and wants to kick my ass for smelling it”. I’m still giggling…he’s standing over me to make sure I write what he said.

So I always have verbal diarrhea…but verdict is-not hot to straight men. It was too much boobage to ask the other straight man in my house his opinion, I’m still his mom, even if I know he see’s it elsewhere. Maybe when he’s 30 or so. Actually 40. Probably never.

    • bitterk

      I think she looks silly.
