In or Out: Katherine Heigl in Maria Lucia Hohan

Posted on February 02, 2012

This is a dress we shouldn’t like…

Katherine Heigl attends the Premiere of “One For The Money” in Paris in a custom-made Maria Lucia Hohan accessorized with Sutra Blackened Rhodium Smoky Agate and Diamond Pear Earrings.

But to our surprise, we do.

Normally we’d be complaining about the color being drab and looking like old underwear, but something about this really works against her skin tone and the dress has wonderful proportions for her and a beautiful drape to it. It’s racktastic.

On the other hand …  the earrings and ring that almost exactly match the dress? Who the hell came up with that one? Beautiful pieces, but not with this dress. And if you’re wearing a big, dramatic gown with big, dramatic earrings, why on earth are you sporting a clean face and Mamie Eisenhower’s hair?  There’s such a massive disconnect between the things she’s wearing and the way her hair and face are styled.

Tsk. With just a little more effort, correctly applied, this could have been a killer look. As it is, it’s one of those “Oh! She looks so prett– hang on. Never mind.”

Vote Now!

IN! She is a GODDESS, T Lo!

OUT! Yeah, a goddess with errand-running hair and face.

Poor addle-pated Mia Waskowska’s dress of horror was decreed OUT by the masses, and thus was burned in a ritual bonfire last night in T Lo Town Square.

      Out.

I was going to say in, because I like the draping and the proportions. But the skirt looks too sheer, and the styling is very wrong. So she’s out. And she should never have been cast as Stephanie Plum.

      • Anonymous

        She’s SO not Stephanie Plum.

        • http://profiles.google.com/stephoneil Stephanie O’Neil

Most disappointing movie of the year.  But at least she’s smiling here.  Every time I see a picture of her she looks miserable.

      • MilaXX

I agree about the casting. Unless they recast this franchise is dead.

        • Anonymous

I think it’s dead, period. They should have made these a decade ago; there were several actresses who would have made a better Stephanie and who were the right age at the time.

          • http://twitter.com/OracleKath Kathrine Marlow

I always think of Rachel McAdams as Stephanie.  Right coloring, GREAT comedic timing and she’s TINY…some of the great moments in the books are because SP is so little

    • Jennifer Hejtmánková

Is it just me, or is the skirt a bit too see-through?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

We’re pretty sure there’s a nude, opaque lining underneath.

Is she in baby bump pose or hide my panties from the camera pose?

    • Sobaika Mirza

Someone tell me that is beige lining and I am NOT staring at her ass right now.

      • lilibetp

That is beige lining and you are NOT staring at her ass right now.

      • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Urban Gypsy aka Tess

I don’t know, I swear I see a thong unless it’s bunched up lining. Weird.

        • Anonymous

          I agree.

    • Anonymous

It might just be unfortunate lighting, but it looks like you can see her knickers through the dress in that last photo.

Anyways, it pains me to say this because it’s Katherine Heigl and she’s wearing so much damn grey, but I think it’s an IN from me. Ugh, I feel dirty now.

    • Anonymous

I don’t mind the earrings and the ring for this.  But that make-up job?  Now I’m not one to complain, but then no one is asking me to movie premieres either.  Looks to me like the wrong concealer and an amateur hand applying it.
Please hire a make-up artist for these things Kate!

    • Anonymous

Not crazy about the dress, too busy at the bodice.  AND it needs a steam – the wrinkles on the bottom are driving me crazy.
Love the earrings and her wedding ring – would wear both in a heartbeat.

She’s no Stephanie Plum though – who made that choice?

      • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

GAH…thank you so much!  Whoever cast her as Stephanie Plum should be tarred and feathered.  Marisa Tomei would’ve been the perfect Stephanie, albeit a little too old for the part.  And an Irishman playing Morelli?  Pshhhh

        • Anonymous

I think she bought the rights and cast herself.

          • http://twitter.com/TheRedZavodnik Ginger

Well that explains a lot.  I’ll just stick to reading the books and forego watching the movie.

          • Anonymous

Too bad for us.  She is not the person for the part. Not to mention my respect for Janet Evanovich has gone down a notch (but just a wee bit).

      • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

Her wedding ring is to die for.  Gorgeous!

IN. Quite like the dress.  She is wearing it well.

      • http://profiles.google.com/anplica Anplica Fiore

I agree.  I don’t like her face & hair, but the rest is worthy of an In.

        • http://beautyforrealgirls.blogspot.com/ accidental housewife

Yeah, her hair is terrible. I  like her make-up, but it’s all wrong with the dress. The dress is fabulous.

    • Adrienn Keszei

The dress is in, but she’s OUT. That hair style is so wrong, and I don’t like the boob situation either.

      • Anonymous

Yeah, my first thought was that we needed a “free Katherine’s boobs” campaign.  I hurt just looking at that.

        Out.

    • http://www.facebook.com/vsticker Vera E Sticker

Out. It’s pretty from behind, but she looks HORRIBLE from the front. Aged and uncomfortable.

      • Anonymous

Aged indeed; she really needs to start putting sunscreen on the decolletage.

    • Anonymous

      IN for me!

    • Anonymous

      IN!

    • Anonymous

Unless her inner hip as excessively shiny creases, I’m going with the skirt is lined, not sheer. And while the jewelry and face are sad, the hair doesn’t really bother me. It’s an IN for me.

    • Anonymous

The color and cut of her gown are beautiful. The gown looks a little sheer around her butt, but that could be from the flash photography. Her hair is different from how she usually wears it and it’s marginally better IMO. Even the color of it seems to work better with this dress. In sum, this dress is a magic dress.

So I’ve been thinking about her face and makeup. I think part of the problem is that even though her features are regular and symmetrical, although larger than the typical starlets (but she’s not a starlet anymore, so there’s that) there’s something about her natural expression that makes her look insincere, almost like she’s sneering sometimes. No makeup artist can fix that. Anne Hathaway has striking features too, but she makes it work with understated makeup, and I think a big part of the reason why is because she has a pleasant expression. Her smile looks real, her eyes are soft, etc.

      • Anonymous

This is a great point. I have noticed that Heigl has a mouth that turns down at the corners naturally, as does mine. With a mouth like that you never get the kind of smile other people have, it always looks reserved or insincere, even haughty (Debbie Harry is another example). Maybe she should try to position herself as more of a Katharine Hepburn, who also had a downturned mouth, playing prickly-personality roles rather than sunny moronic romcom types.

    • Anonymous

in. she looks fresh and gorgeous.

    • Anonymous

      Is she sunburned?

      OUT

    • Anonymous

In. I think she looks great. Too much hair and makeup and she’d skew Goth Bride.

      And those earrings? Yes, please.

    • http://twitter.com/arodenha Alli

It’s a really interesting color (I bet it’s even prettier in person) but that skirt is wrinkled and the twins look like they’re strapped down for takeoff, so OUT.

    • Anonymous

      o-u-t.

    • http://twitter.com/Moondragonic Charlotte

The shape is good on her but the grey color, hairstyle, make-up and the sheerness of the skirt all adds up to an OUT.

    • Anonymous

      no just no, out

    • Anonymous

I think it’s a very pretty dress in a very dreary color and that drags down the whole look. There’s always something about her that seems off to me and I can’t decide what it is. Maybe as Chuckle_Cake suggests, it’s because she never comes across as genuine.

I need to sit on the fence for this one.

    • Greg Yoder

In.  The dress is doing all the work here, but it’s a pretty great dress.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/VWVJVYZJCTXSQJA4E5PNEZLJA4 Jessica

It’s pretty enough. But as there is no doubt that’s her THONG showing in the last photo, which instantly robs the look of any class whatsoever, she’s O.U.T.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Where are you seeing a thong? There’s an opaque lining under the skirt. You can’t see ANYTHING.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/VWVJVYZJCTXSQJA4E5PNEZLJA4 Jessica

My dear TLo… look at the last photo.  She’s drawn back the fullness of the skirt and the thong is clearly visible curving over her hip down to her lady bits.  It can’t be my x-ray vision kicking in.  That broke years ago when the eyes in the back of my head went on the fritz.    While I have the chance though… Thanks to you both for making me smile every day!

          • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Sorry, but you’re seeing things. There is no “clearly visible” thong because her skirt clearly isn’t see-through. It’s an illusion.

            • http://twitter.com/urban_gypsy Urban Gypsy aka Tess

I was sure I was seeing a thong too. It must be the material bunching in a strategic area.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Across her midsection. I’m a little skeptical that it may be wrinkling of the dress, but it does give the strong impression of underwear in that sheerish area where she’s pulled the skirt aside a bit. I can’t tell if it’s an optical illusion or what.

          • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

            It’s an optical illusion.

            • Anonymous

Yes, it’s definitely a flashbulb shadow or something.  Plus if you look at the bottom of that last picture, you can see the seam of the lining through the skirt very clearly.

            • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1326120071 Gaby Ripoll

Thankfully, this does nothing to my original out vote because I think the color makes her face look very ashen and brings out grey undertones to her skin I’d have never noticed. It’s a prettily draped dress, but… NEWSPRINT. /contrary.

    • Anonymous

      Out.

BROWN HAIR. Look into it again.

    • Anonymous

      Ugh, out.

    • Anonymous

In, I think. It’s a little surprising how sheer this is (hello, pants) but I love grey for a gown.

    • Jessica Goldstein

I don’t even like the dress: side cut-outs and too much cleavage for my tastes. Throw in the terrible hair and visible undies and this is way, way OUT in my book.

    • Anonymous

OUT.  There is just so much wrong here… The top looks like it is designed over-tight so as to hold up her rack, and then the bottom is sheer?  I don’t get it.  It needed to be lined, I don’t need or want to see what she is wearing under this.  Add to that the hair and makeup looking horrid… go home, eat some ice cream and watch the event on TV.  Try again next time.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

You absolutely can’t see “what she is wearing under this.” We’re so puzzled by all these responses that insist you can see her underwear. You really can’t because the skirt only gives the illusion of being sheer.

        • Anonymous

Then that is one odd fabric, because that last pic totally looks like “look at my panties!  Aren’t they sexy?”  Never seen a fabric that mimics underwear under sheer before…

Also, if that really is an illusion from the fabric, that is just another reason for her to be OUT.

    • lilibetp

      I really like it.

    • Anonymous

I’m glad there’s a nude, opaque underlining, but it certainly doesn’t seem that way.  It seems to be sheer, and that we’re seeing skin.  And with a nude, opaque underlining it’s likely that Ms. Hohan’s intention was to make it seem like skin.  Which I hate.  I find the whole dress irritating, especially on a fair-skinned blonde, and the idea of a dress with a train at a premiere of a movie named “Bad Boys” (even in a bad Franglais translation) is ludicrous.  In fact, Heigl herself is one of those on my “irrationally irritating” list.  OUT.

      • Isadora Paiva

I believe us kittens are using the “celebrity we irrationally hate” thing too often, it’s more for when we’re not quite sure why we don’t like them, hence the irrational. I think we all know why we don’t like Katherine Heigl: she’s not a good actress and doesn’t seem to have the best personality either, as several of her past co-stars have broken the Hollywood code of, no matter what, saying it was a pleasure working with such an amazing cast, yadda yadda. Plus, no sense of style.

    • Anonymous

Out because I’ve seen other shots of the back and there’s a panel of illusion netting back there above the fabric.  Sorry, that’s inexcusable.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1363731332 Gerry Coleman

Thank you, Peggy.  It looks like her shaper is exposed in the back.  I don’t mind illusion, if we’re at the ice rink, but an illusion panel with a visible closure is just crazy-ass!

    • Anonymous

I don’t know, maybe it’s the lighting, but I don’t like the color with her skin tone. It makes her shoulders and chest look a little brassy, or something
It is a beautiful dress on it’s own, however the baby head boob effect does not work for me. It overwhelms the delicacy of the dress.

      • Anonymous

I’m seeing underwear in that last shot, too. I’m looking at this on m Nook tablet. I’ll have to look at it on my computer later.

It looks like she is wearing nude foundations (rather than the nude lining that it is) because the back appears to secured across her lower back like a bra strap.  I could never have a blog because I can’t always be objective.  She is always an OUT for me.

    • Anonymous

It is a nice color on her and her makeup is beautiful, but overall I don’t like the look. It’s a bad dress.

OUT. I think that shade of gray is all wrong on her skin, personally (is it not making her look ruddy as hell?), and I wish the back were slightly less naked–just having a little more fabric on her sides would be nice, IMO.

Also, I swear she is copying that thing Rooney Mara does with her hands, which is so weird because it doesn’t seem like Heigl’s style at all.

I disagree with you on the details. I think the clean face, matching accessories and downplayed hair make her look almost regal. Well, as regal as one can with an exposed back.

    • Anonymous

Out. She looks like she didn’t shower before getting into this thing. I’m not feeling it – ALL the details are wrong.

    • Anonymous

i actually like the colour!! but i dont like the dress. they took something that should have been simple and goddess-like, but instead made it more complicated. her push up is a little too apparent and it may just be the angles/flash of the camera but in some of the pictures the way the waste is hitting/hugging her isnt so flattering. and her earrings kinda look like little fish. this is an OUT for me!

out.  and she needs to have better hair.  in general.

    • Anonymous

She looks good, and I love the back of the dress.
What is it with the “can/can’t  see her underwear” comments? The look of sheerness in the front below the waist is part of what is going on? I don’t quite understand the dress’s construction. Anyway, an IN because bottom line, the gown is very flattering.

    • Anonymous

OUT for styling.  I agree the dress is beautiful, but how much better would it have been with a different hairstyle, dramatic makeup and jewelry that had a pop of color rather than blending in.  I’m thinking sapphire, emerald, any beautiful jewel tone…

      OUT.  So.Over.Her.

    • http://twitter.com/aStudiobytheSea a Studio by the Sea

In.  I don’t have a problem with the face because I honestly hate the heavy clown make up that so many woman wear.  She looks like a human being with a light layer of paint.  I think peeps are seeing the indentation of her underwear on her skin because of the thinness of the fabric, but it isn’t see through.  The matchy jewelry is lovely, and keeps the attention on her face.

    • Anonymous

Oh this could have been fantastic with some bright accessories. Personally I’d go for yellow but really any pop of color on her face would have made it just perfect. I agree she either needed the flowing locks hair or the sleek scraped back look. But damn she looks  lovely. I think because of how amazing her back looks I have to give her an IN

    • Anonymous

Out. I think the combo of boobiness and sheerness make this kind of cheap and vulgar. The hair and accessories don’t bug me too much.

I love the dress, even as bare as it is. If not for that curl on the side of her head, her hair would look great. Her lip color is great, but this is where she could have used something vivid. The details are wrong, but the dress is fab, and she’s so pretty. She gets a qualified IN.

    • Anonymous

The back of that dress saves it for me, even though I don’t love the color or the wrinkled bottom.  I guess she’s an in.  Wish her hair wasn’t always such a disaster

IN. I agree with TLo. This is a beautifully constructed dress and the nude lining is working just as it should – It gives the “appearance” of sheerness. Very sexy without showing the world the goods.

I give her an IN. The matchy jewelry doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would.

    • Warmheartedgirl Seattle

IN.  The earrings are killer and so is the ring.  Who cares if they are opaque and the same color as the gown?  It is a beautiful gown.  Agree about the Mamie hair, however.  Still, IN.

    • Anonymous

Oh! Agreed! What a missed opportunity!
She looks really good in this dress. I love the way the back looks on her, but hair/makeup/accessories are really bringing the look down. What a shame.
Come on, Heigl. I’m not really a fan of yours, but you’ve been blessed with a pretty face and that slammin bod, so what’s your problem?

    • Anonymous

I like the dress and I even like the sheer grey fabric with the goldish nude showing through (particularly in the last picture).  But, her hair style and color and makeup age her.  If she was in her 40s, I’d say she looks fantastic.  But given that she is in her 30s (and in Hollywood), she should fresher and more youthful.  Out.

    • Anonymous

It would have been an easy in except that in that last shot I swear I can see her thong underwear through the skirt.  So she just eeks out an “in” this time.

I don’t know, I just don’t know. She’s so damn pretty, but I suspect she’s a jeans & sweaters gal at heart, and something’s off about this. I love that ring, though.
Somebody should have her & Ashley Judd play sisters in some movie.

      • Anonymous

I never considered the resemblance, but now that you point it out, there definitely is one. (Of course with the Judd tendency for surgical “enhancement”, I’m not sure which face (past, present, future) she most resembles.

        • Anonymous

It’s a little game I play to amuse myself. Judd & Heigl as sisters. SJP as Bette Midler’s daughter. Brad Pitt as Robert Redford’s son. Rob Morrow as son of DeNiro (it’s all in the smile).

I really like this dress and would have loved to see it on someone else, but the styling – the overbig earrings and the icky hair, in particular – just ruins this for me.  So OUT.

P.S. – Rotten Tomatoes gave “One for the Money” a 3% rating – I think Human Centipede did better than that!  So the moviegoers of America agree – she’s no Stephanie Plum.

Oh and she’s not wearing *no* makeup, just less, and frankly, I don’t want to get in the habit of demanding that women wear more makeup. It’s an enhanced face, not a transformed one, and that’s what most of us aim for really, even on dressup occasions  isn’t it?

    • http://twitter.com/CeeJay37 CJ Michalak

ahem. i can see her undies (last pic).  for inquiring minds: they are not the same color as the dress

    • Anonymous

Too much off to be an in – the color is drab, she needed some color in her accessories and her hair is hidey. OUT

    • Anonymous

In by a nose hair.  Not bad but definitely not great

    • Wrenaria

      In.

    • CQAussie

The dress doesn’t seem like it’s fitting her very well.  Plus her hair and make-up isn’t doing her favours.  OUT.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1043171034 Tadiana Walton Jones

I’ve been doing an equation in my head:
      Dress:  +8
      Funky lining:  -1
      Underdone makeup and jewelry:  -3
Should go back to brunette:  -1
Just because she’s Katherine Heigl:  -2
      Total:  +1

      So, IN, but just barely

    • Anonymous

Sure, the makeup and hair aren’t great, but something about that dress on her is just really fabulous. That is HER dress, even if it isn’t styled the way it should be. I’ll give it an IN.

    • Anonymous

I LOVE the jewelry. Not so much the dress. OUT.

    • http://twitter.com/alienspouse Jen Alien-Spouse

I have a severe Heigl allergy, which I’m fighting here to give the dress it’s props, because the dress itself is quite lovely. If you were, theoretically, able lop her head off I’d give the dress on her body an in, but, with that hair and make-up (and sheer Heigl-ness), it’s an OUT.

    • http://twitter.com/GQueen GQueen

So in! I think she looks awesome.

    • R. L.

This is a borderline one but because it is Katherine Heigl and the lining looks like I can see her panties I say OUT.

    • http://www.facebook.com/chloe.stabler Chloe Stabler

I hate how that dress looks from the side.  It just looks like a plate over her stomach.  OUT.

    • Anonymous

In. The dress has an interesting construction, and while it gives the illusion of seeing her undergarments, I’ll go along with TLo that we are not. Her makeup and hair are sweet and not over done, but much more than running errands styled. Don’t mind the matching jewelry, this is as good a place as any to do that. I guess I’m in the minority on this, but don’t quite get the irrational hate felt by so many bitter kittens; her romcoms are no worse than those turned out by JSP and Jen Aniston, and I quite liked 27 Dresses. I think she has a very pretty, slightly quirky face.

    • https://profiles.google.com/104791269167429064986 Judy S

IN. I have no opinion about the lady, and like you I feel I should not like the dress but I do like it on her. And I actually like the way the “clean” face and hair work with the monotone dress and earrings.

    • Joyce VG

IN. I think she looks nice.  Not Goddess nice though.

    • http://desilluist.tumblr.com/ Briarnoir

A big problem is that those earrings are not only large, but they’re ugly and being large you can see their ugly from all around. I get that she wanted to draw attention to the slender column of neck that makes her look fucking /stunning/ from behind, but girl needed some slender sparkle and not those monstrosities. The rings, I think are great.

The hair is not so much. I rather like the fresh face with the gown. Her usual pancake-esque look makes me cringe. I mean, look at the picture where she is looking back over her shoulder and tell me that’s not gorgeous?

I have to give this a reluctant IN. The good outweighs the bad.

    • http://twitter.com/Merneith Merneith

In, but the dress is doing all the work.

    • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

Face and hair are killing me, but that’s the best she’s looked from the neck down in a while. A reluctant IN, because we ought to celebrate progress.

    • Anonymous

      In. Somehow it works.

    • Cathy S

The only part of this dress I like is the back. The bodice is too busy and the color is blah. Out.

    • Anonymous

I don’t really like anything about this look. OUT.

    • emily mcginnis

      out.

    • http://twitter.com/deusxmac kim bunchalastnames

i am seeing way too much of something under that skirt.  that i do not wish to see.

    • Anonymous

Out. maybe it’s the way she’s standing but she looks preggers in the first picture. Regardless, it shouldn’t look like that. Her boobs look awesome though.

    • MilaXX

small IN, I don’t like the earrings at all, but she looks pretty good in that dress. A little warmth on the lip would have helped sell this look a bit more.

    • https://me.yahoo.com/a/O5zYg6EMmcahpFvPfpdCYLTSyBxqSWYJXena#f908b Kate

IN, if just for the boobs! That’s how you display an awesome rack and give it a little umpf (I believe that’s the technical term) without turning it into painful looking watermelons!

    • Judy_J

Marginal IN because the dress is so beautiful and fits so well.  Everything else is just blah.

    • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

      OUT. Yuck.

    • Anonymous

Out.  I dont like her.  The dress is pretty on its on… just not on her.

    • Anonymous

I want to say out, but can’t…IN

I like the dress and the classic movie star image she was going for…but really dislike her hair and low bust line with major boobage.  More dramatic eye and contrasting/complementary accessories would have been an improvement too.  Overall though, she looks good/passable.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

OUT. She looks old and stale and she should look young and fresh. Hate the hair and make-up and if people are discussing whether or not your dress is lined or see-through, then it might as well be see-through.

    • http://profiles.google.com/alison.sigman Alison Sigman

Out. And it’s not just because I don’t particularly like her as a person. It’s a nice dress but she’s done too much wrong.

    • http://twitter.com/yankeefoxtrot Alex McGeagh

I have a dumb question that perhaps the Bitter Kittens can answer (especially as I am not at all ‘blessed’ in this area) – but how in the hell does her rack look that good with no bra?!

Props and an IN for that alone, I feel like. There’s probably some kind of magic here I know nothing about, or maybe some kind of doublesided tape, or something…

      • Anonymous

i imagine the dress has built in cups and other support hidden perfectly.

    • Anonymous

wee “in” because I agree with the TLo judgment of “racktastic” and I like the top of the dress.  WHY does she insist on making her hair that vanilla ice cream yellow?  and I was bummed at the Stephanie Plum movie, but I think the screenplay totally sucked.

    • Lexie

Out. Can she just stop already? Her latest attempt at being a film star got a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes. Go home and enjoy your baby and stop trying to be an A-list star!

    • Anonymous

I mostly like the dress but I wish it were simply backless instead of coming in at the sides so much. And the styling is just bad. Out.

    • Anonymous

It’s a lovely dress, but it needs a steaming, and she needs to put those things away unless she’s trying to breastfeed us.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

I agree on the dress, the jewelry, and the hair, but i think her makeup is perfect–she normally WAY overdoes it.

    • Anonymous

I’m saying “in.”  The gown is young Liz Taylor;  I don’t mind (or even notice) anything else.

    • Anonymous

      In…now-now boys…she looks great……

    • Elias Pineda

      in

    • Anonymous

IN.  she looks gorgeous.  ok, her hair is the wrong color and she could use some powder on that shiny face.  but i love the jewelry, it’s fine with me if it matches, esp. the rings.  i like the way the dress lining is a warm skin tone instead of gray on the skirt.  keeps it from going dishwater on her.  i love that dress and she’s wearing it well.

    • up with pod people

In, unabashedly love it. The styling, too (though would have loved a turquoise ring, yes).

    • Anonymous

      OUT.

    • Anonymous

One would think that a custom gown would fit your breasts. Oh, they must have been going for that half-naked breast look!! Other than that and the horrible hair, I would say IN. Gorgeous dress, love that wedding ring!! I want one like that for my 25th Anniversary!!

    • Anonymous

Out, but just a mild out. bad jewelry and hair, the dress overall is dull.

    • Anonymous

In, but with the caveats you mention.

    • Anonymous

I feel like someone should start a “Free Katherine’s Breasts!” campaign… OUT!

    • Anonymous

      In.

Although if the hint in the last photo that the skirt is lined only to mid thigh (or, god help us, unlined & she put on a short half slip) is confirmed by a visual in which I can clearly discern legs from mid-thigh down, I change my vote

    • Anonymous

Okay, it pains me but I’m giving her an IN. The dress does fit her racktastically. The shot of her where at first you think you’re looking at a bum cheek threw me, but I’m assuming the skirt is lined so that gets a pass. Too bad about the styling.

Stop with the hair already! It’s awful.

    • Anonymous

She is way overdressing on the stroll for this movie! It’s like she’s trying to use the glamour of her dresses to compensate for how dreadful the flick looks. Um, not working.

      Also, hair is hiddy.

But still IN when grading on the Heigl curve.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I kind of reflexively wanted to hate it.  But after a closer look, it has a lovely ethereal 1930′s glamor that’s quite nice. Of course the styling blows, and that’s one girl who should not be blonde but what can you do.

      IN-ish?

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/NOZTQKBZ7M6WL2TFJZVPMH3AN4 Barbie

Very pretty dress.  Not sure if it works, though.  55% in, 45% out.    She barely scraped herself an “in”

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/GTG3A5BVL3JGIFT5M4MSPWYNCM Mathilde

Yes, it’s not perfect, and I admit I’m not a huge fan of the seeming cut-outs… But she brought the drama, and the drape is beautiful, so IN.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jane-Morris/1076502799 Jane Morris

I love the lining that makes it look see through. It tickles me no end. IN

    • nancy

Out. Hate the boobs in our face thing, icky hair, no makeup. I do like the look better from the back, except for the wrinkly skirt at the bottom. Is it lined? I swear I can see a thong in the last shot, but maybe its just me.

    • Anonymous

IN. Though I’m not sure I’d go so far as goddess.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_3AJ237ND3GAHDQJZ4TLCO4WLRA Emily

In.  I hate to say it, but the dress is fab.  Agree about the accessories, but glad she ditched the dynasty hair and makeup.

    • Anonymous

With Heigl and Minaj side-by-side on the front page it’s entirely too much in the crazy eyes department. Her dress is great, hair is awful, jewels are lovely but too matchy, and she looks suburnt? Just this side of OUT.

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

I like the fleshy satin lining and, surprizingly, gray jewelry. But her makeup could’ve been better.

    • http://twitter.com/jennsaysmeow Fifi LaRoux

She looks better than she has in a while. In.

    • Anonymous

Out, but only because of the hair. I think she’s very pretty in an unconventional way, but her hair-do looks atrocious.

    • Anonymous

      Awful!! Eek! the hair alone…!

    • kimberlini

OUT because of the hair color (even more than the style) and the makeup.  Colors are completely wrong for her!  Dress is fine when the gathers/pleats are in place but it looks like something wrong is happening when she pulls on the skirt.  Am I seeing underwear?  Whatever it is, it’s bad.

    • Allison Woods

      Slightly….off.

    • vmcdanie

In. It’s a beautiful dress although I can’t tell if it’s sheer in places or those are panels and it gives the impression I can see thru parts of the skirt and I find that declasse.

Her presence on film is still a portent of badness though.

    • butter nut

IN.  she needs to learn how to pose & hold her face.  and i really don’t like that hair do.  but otherwise, i can’t fault it.  she looks nice.

    • Anna Tree

UGH. NO. OUT. Also, is that skirt sheer?

    • Anonymous

In–she looks fine.  Is she smiling more than she usually does at these things?

    • Anonymous

It feels off-balance – like she needs a necklace or it should be worn by someone with longer hair.

    • Anonymous

I love the accesories. However, I am not fond of the bodice of the dress. Facing forward, it’s fine, but when she turns to the side and you see the bare skin, it looks a little trashy. I think she looks pretty though. IN, by a smidge.

    • Susan Yoon

It would have been in IN, but because I can see her underwear (or something that highly suggests that it could be underwear), and because I’d rather not see her undergarments, it gets an OUT.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IHWCJIMARF4OOW6PQZQS3RFOOA JillK

      HATE.

It looks like it straps on her bodice the way you’d stick your arms through a seat cushion used as a floatation device. Just atrocious.

      OUT.

    • Anonymous

I hate the boobs. I have no idea if hers are real, but this dress makes them look fake and plastic. The back looks nice, but I’m not a fan of the color on her. Or on anybody. And I hate her earrings and her hair. So… NO NO NO.

    • Kristin McNamara

is NOBODY seeing the EXPOSED undergarments she’s got showing on the lower part of her back?? i noticed her back looked distorted, so i googled other pictures of her in this dress. this is AWFUL! http://thefashionpatrol.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/js_CU-Katherine-Heigl-One-For-The-Money-premiere-in-Paris-02.jpg

I love the dress but I can’t focus on anything but how bad her hair is. Out.

In. The dress is beautiful, but I wish she’d grow that hairstyle out already, its so aging.

    • Geno Boggiatto

OUT – the gray earrings are too matchy, and she needs to invest in a steamer!!!

    • Anonymous

so few things here work for me. look at the train in the first picture. nah OUT

    • Call me Bee

It’s a fabulous dress, albiet a bit too much for a movie premier.  It fits perfectly and the gry-ish color looks good on K.  I like her make-up, too, although her hair is totally 50s matron.  The earrings, too.
      So–I say IN with reservations.

    • Anonymous

Out, even she didn’t have the Mamie Eisenhower hair (love that line) or had better accessories or a professional make up job. The dress looks too night gown looking for me – AND a basket of tits (to borrow on line from you)

IN, but I like the retro thing, I do agree that at least a brighter lip would have been nice…Thank you for another great laugh for ”
Poor addle-pated Mia Waskowska’s dress of horror was decreed OUT by the masses, and thus was burned in a ritual bonfire last night in T Lo Town Square.”  I wish I was there so I could have made smores and had hot coco while watching the fire…

I can’t get over the funny-looking bust line. OUT.

    • Anonymous

I like the moonstones with the grey.  I also like the hair and think the makeup brings a cleanness to the dress.  Which brings me to the dress.  I want to like it.  I like the skirt, but only when it’s allowed to fall in draped folds.  That shot where she’s pulling the front to the side is horrible.  I like the open back, but hate the open side.  I like the textural quality of how the fabric picks up the light in the different flows in the bodice, but it looks too tortured.  I like the open decolletage, but the straps are strange.

      Overall impression: out.

I’m on the fence.  The dress is gorgeous but the jewelry is too matchy-matchy.  And I agree with TLo, hair and makeup are so boring.

Out. Very tacky and vulgar to pull your skirt aside so you can flash your underwear in the last pic. Ugh Hate

This reminds me of a passage in Auntie Mame where she meets Patrick’s fiance’s parents wearing moonstone jewelry – “that somehow didn’t look as if she really meant it.”  Ditto for Heigl.  Moonstones are not her friend near the face.
