Daniel Radcliffe Gets Some Advice

Posted on February 08, 2012

What a nice young man.

Daniel Radcliffe attends the premiere of “The Woman in Black” in Paris.

And such cute dimples.

But what a shame about his hem. Oh, well. He probably wasn’t going to ask you out anyway.

And since we’re being bitches, is an eyebrow trim such a horrible thing to introduce to the conversation here? We’re not suggesting a full-on waxing, but them things is FUZZY. Maybe just a little trim the next time you’re in the barber’s chair, Daniel? Also, perhaps some work ensuring that you remain two-browed? And a better razor, maybe? We hear they make them with like 16 blades now. Otherwise, you look very nice.

Oh, and shave a bit off the hem of your pants.

  • Anonymous

He has two caterpillars on his face and no one ever says anything. Fuzzy is an understatement.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com Nancy Abrams

He definitely needs a little browscaping. But just a little so he doesn’t look too pretty.

      • Anonymous

I agree. Just a little. Once you get into Peter Gallagher territory where they’re So. Perfect. it gets kind of freaky.

  • http://korilian.livejournal.com/ korilian

God yes on the eyebrow trim!

  • Anonymous

Yes, he could comb those unruly rascals up and give ’em a snip, snip.

Aw, but he is adorable, and I dig his suit. I like the stitching on the collar.

    • Anonymous

You could see the top stitching on his collar in the suit he was wearing in the poster outside the theatre for “How to Succeed in Business.”  Wonder if he has his suits tailor made?

      • Anonymous

He might. He is a wee thing, so bespoke might be the best route for him.

  • Sobaika Mirza

Yeah, the brows could use some grooming. But he looks great otherwise. I’ll always appreciate a guy who looks like he bathed before appearing in front of the cameras.

How sad that it’s come to that.

    • Anonymous

      I blame Pattinson.

  • Britt McCombs

Since, despite his activism, Radcliffe is into women, I submit that it is awfully refreshing to see a male actor who looks like a guy in the hair department.

Also, he over-shared a bit just recently on his personal grooming and how Brazilians on women are “creepy” to him, so this eyebrow critique cracks me up.

    • http://twitter.com/democracydiva Democracy Diva

I was thinking the SAME THING about the eyebrow thing – if he’s not grooming much downstairs, you can’t expect him to be tweezing and trimming his brows, either!! Hilarious.

      • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

You’d be surprised. I’m not a fan of oversharing either, but I will just say– you’d be surprised. Sometimes there are curtains and um… hardwood floors.

        • http://twitter.com/deusxmac kim bunchalastnames

oooo.  hard wood.  o wait.  that’s not what you meant.

  • http://theargiehome.blogspot.com/ Gus Casals

I love the brows, leave them alone. At least he’s not another fashion magazine clone.
And not so much the hem, but boy, have that (very nice) suit ironed!

  • Anonymous

If Colin Farrell can clean up his brow situation, so can Daniel Radcliffe!

  • lilibetp

Is it just me, or is his jacket too small?

    • Anonymous

I wondered that, but lately the runway models have been appearing in jackets that look a little snug to me, so I decided to think it was “the look.”

  • MilaXX

Yep those brows need to be groomed.

  • Anonymous

Lol, you have a point on the hem and the brows, but other than that I think he got a lot right. The fit on the jacket is great, the suit has just enough sheen to make it interesting but not so much that it looks smarmy, and I love the pop of interesting color with the tie. I give it a B+.

  • Anonymous

I was looking at the pictures thinking how hairy he is, and then I see you commented on same.  He does look good, but also a bit like he’s trying out for a werewolf part.

  • Anonymous

Awww. Adorkable. But I don’t like the tie–really cannot stand that Harvest Gold color.

  • Anonymous

I like the image he’s trying to convey but he needs some grown-up male relative to show him how to shave. And this jacket seems just a wee bit teensy.

  • Anonymous

I thought the same thing looking at the UK Esquire shoot.  (brows)

  • Anonymous

I actually like the brows (the fullness, not the impeding oneness).  With his delicate features, I think the thicker brows look good, but I’m a total weirdo.

    • Anonymous

As soon as it was brought to my attention, I thought of Brad Dourif.

  • Malice Grant

Have to say, my husband is of both the British and Caterpillar-browed persuasions. So much so that Daniel’s got nothing on him, and he refuses to alter a damn hair. To his credit, though, he has a near-miraculous lack of grow-togetherness. They are perfectly separated for the width of the bridge of his nose and neither the left nor the right ever strays into uni-brow territory. His da’s the same. All that to say, maybe it’s a British thing.

  • http://twitter.com/jaythenerdkid Aaminah Khan

I think the brows are fine. My ex’s were so, so much worse than that, and I put up with those for more than a year. 😛

  • CQAussie

I agree, he needs to fix the almost-mono brow but leave the thickness, I kinda like it =D  But yes, he could get a closer shave.  Is the suit a bit shiny?  The hem is definitely too long….overall, not bad at all really =D

  • Anonymous

He’s awfully young to start looking like somebody’s strangely elfin dad, but that’s what I’m getting.

    • Anonymous

That was my thought too! Hobbitses! Still adorable though.

  • Martha Deutsch

He’s English! Big, bushy eyebrows are a birthright!

  • Anonymous

A thought about the shave….DR leans towards a babyface so maybe the stubble is an attempt to remind the fanbase that he is a grown-ass-man and not the kid with a wand. His choices of projects (Equus…How to Succeed in Business et. al) may not always be enough…just sayin’

    • Anonymous

      Good points.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_EDI2DLE7DE3YPW2ONIHBWOVHMA ecallaw

I agree about the hem (isn’t he usually pretty good about that?), but i kind of like that his brows are kept pretty natural.  I just love him for his personality, but most of the time when I look at him I’m laughing inside because Rachel Dratch completely has his number.

  • J Dreesen

i misunderstood the title of the post, and thought i was going to get a grand TA-DA from Daniel Radcliffe with hemmed pants and a freshly fine-tuned brow line.  then i realized the title said *gets* some advice, not *takes* some advice.  well, pooh.

i’ll be waiting over here in the bitter corner for a follow-up appearance by Mr. Potter once he has read your helpful hints!

  • Anonymous

For the love of god, can’t he afford a suit of his own? He’s got his big brother’s pants and his little bro’s jacket. TLo, please put a stop to this tiny jacket thing. I get that old school fit might be too old for him, BUT the general rule is…if you can’t physically imagine getting your hand into your pocket…grow up. You gave high marks to several gents sporting fitted jackets coming just above the thumbnail. I say FIT the jackets, don’t pick a smaller munchkin size to define your waist (5 inches higher than it really is). And was he expecting to be asked to

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=506473106 Mori Clark

brows need some work, yes. but he’s such a nice guy! amazed that he turned out so level-headed after the circus of being a child star.

  • Anonymous

And since he is so damn pale, throw in a close shave (pale faces cannot pull a 5 o clock shadow or 2 day scruff).

Or a wee bit of color? Not a tan really, but something that says “I do get out of the house during the day occasionally”.

    • Anonymous

Nooooo! Pale, dark hair, bit of stubble – works for me, albeit not necessarily on Daniel Radcliffe. Good celtic colouring :)

  • Anonymous

I never really noticed how much he looks like Rachel Dratch before. Damn.

I think the suit jacket is too small on him. It just seems to be hitting his wait in the wrong spot.

  • butter nut

i think he’s trying to work a “young hugh jackman” thing these days.

  • aimee_parrott

    “…them things is FUZZY”

  • Anonymous

Agree about the eyebrows, which are moving steadily and inevitably toward Andy Rooney Land.  A terrible destination for such a nice, and nice-looking, young man.

Just a trim, Dan.  Nothing overwhelming.  Ask your barber.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jessica-TallGirl-Freeman/1043623567 Jessica TallGirl Freeman

The jacket looks a bit small as well. Digging the yellow tie though.

  • http://profiles.google.com/sara.e.munoz Sara Munoz

Cutie pie. The brows don’t bug me so much. But the boy could use a little color. I know, he is a pasty British dude, but I can’t help thinking he always looks a little ill.

    • Anonymous

I think the color of that tie is not helping the pasty thing, and a different one would have helped make him look less ill. That color is hard for anyone to pull off without appearing green.

  • Anonymous

yup i must agree with the eyebrow consensus, the neanderthal browline is doing him no favours…

  • Judy_J

The unibrow has got to go. He’s so young, but those brows look like they belong on someone above the age of 60.

  • Anonymous

A little trim here and there certainly would not help. As would some discretion. He’s been giving out TMI about his sex life lately. Normal stuff for a 22 year old, but we don’t need to know and you really doesn’t need to share. Keep it classy Mr. Radcliffe.

  • Anonymous

I like that he always seems to be going for “gentlemanly”, which is such a nice change of pace from most of young Hollywood.  But his posing on the red carpet always comes off as so… earnest.  So eager, really hoping we’ll buy the vacuum cleaner he’s selling.

Now that I say this, I guess it’s endearing, but I keep getting the feeling that he’d call me “ma’am.”

  • http://profiles.google.com/clairehaley1 Claire Haley

I am totally against eyebrow-scaping. Unless there is a legit unibrow happening, I think people should leave them alone. There’s almost nothing as unappealing as overly sculpted eyebrows, in my opinion.

    • Anonymous

I mostly agree, but in Daniel’s case, just a teeny bit of weeding in the middle would go a long way from keeping him looking like his eyes are too close together (which they aren’t), but the close brows tend to make me think they are.

  • Anonymous

Adorable. Love a guy who isn’t afraid to wear a bright tie.
I do agree about the eyebrow trim. I trim my guy’s on a regular basis, because otherwise you could braid and bead them and that’s never a good thing.
Daniel’s eyebrows are in dire need of a trim, just to tame the bushiness a little. It would bring those baby blues of his out even more.

  • Anonymous

i wonder when he’s gonna start doing serious character roles. he reminds me a little of john garfield, maybe. not as pretty.

    • Anonymous

Maybe James Cagney. Not as pretty as him, either. But teeny tiny and kind of rangy. John Garfield had a softer, more sensual face. Alan Ladd? I’m trying to think of the smallest Hollywood stars out there. But Cagney, Garfield and Ladd were all totally leading men, not doing character roles. I’m thinking maybe Freddie Bartholomew is the best choice. It’s really hard to go from child star to adult actor.

  • http://twitter.com/londonpenguin Teresa MacDonald

It looks to me like what he really needs is a good night’s sleep.

    And a brow trim. Obviously.

  • Anonymous

It’s only fair that he should have to groom his face, since if any female co-star appeared with him she would be expected to be perfectly waxed, including eyebrows, legs, whatever.  Not to mention the time she would be expected to put into her clothes and hair on her head.  Why should men get away with doing absolutely nothing??

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

I’m with you on the critiques, but he still adorable, and he doesn’t hit the RC like he’s stopping by in the middle of a Starbucks run.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

The exact correct advice from his wise gay uncles. As witnessed in the Esquire spread, Danny R. looks best when clean-shaven and trimmed up.

  • http://profiles.google.com/dchockeyguy Trevor Burroughs

Gah, he’s so skinny! I could never wear a jacket cut like that.

  • Anonymous

I was hoping the advice would concern the obviously-too-small jacket, but good call on the facial hair too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1253053236 Belle Burnett

You’ve given him the best advice, let’s hope somebody on his team hears it.

  • Anonymous

Little Danny Radcliffe, that nice boy down the road, can now grow 5 o’clock shadow?!? I’m too stunned to notice anything else! Sunrise, sunset, swiftly flow the years…

  • Joyce VG

My goodness he does nothing for me.  But I like the pop of color in the tie.

  • Presumptuous Insect

Aaaawwww, I like the dude.  He is a very bright guy and an atheist (heart flutter!) and I hope he does well for himself.

  • http://profiles.google.com/misslauraschultz Laura Schultz

Yeah, I have to agree about the eyebrows. Dig the suit, tho

  • Anonymous

I don’t know. The jacket looks as if it’s at least two sizes too small. Both the bottom edige and the sleeves seem to be riding high.

  • Anonymous

He’s just adorable. Slightly uni-browed maybe, but I can think of worse things.

  • Anonymous

I like the natural look. Let’s face it, everything you do to ‘enhance’ your appearance requires maintenance. A guy with a heavy 5 o’clock shadow is going to have the eyebrows growing out awfully fast. Leave ’em be Hairy!

  • Anonymous

Yes… the eyebrows are intensely distracting.

  • Anonymous

If he’s in need of some expert grooming, what would Robert Pattinson need, I wonder.

  • Anonymous

he didnt ask me out but i just love him

  • http://twitter.com/deusxmac kim bunchalastnames

… is … his … jacket just a bit short?  no?  is it just me, then?  nevermind.

  • Anonymous

    He needs a thorough steaming.

  • Anonymous

Unlike so many of the men we’ve been seeing on the red carpet, Daniel does seem to put in an effort. First glance he looks pretty good. I do agree that a few tweeks could take him to a higher level. I don appreciate that he isn’t putting his hands in his pockets.

  • Rand Ortega

    “them things is FUZZY.”
    You 2 SLAY me!
I have to say in the lil’ cuties defense, it’s rather refreshing to see a young leading man that isn’t shellacked, plucked & processed w/in an inch of his life like the Gosling, Reynold, who’s that other 1– yeah, Gyllenhal (Prince of Persia was horrific, only made worse by JG looking like his chest hair was individually plucked) cadre. I do take issue w/ the pant hem & the fit of the jacket. That’s what makes him look uncomfortable instead of relaxed & natural. Like his brows.

  • Anonymous

Aw, he always looks like he’s waiting to be put back in the box :)
He should keep the hair-stylist from the Esquire shoot close to hand. That made a big difference to him.

  • Anonymous

And maybe just a bit of sun?

  • Anonymous

haha! finally somebody says a word about danrad’s eyebrow situation! they have bugged me forever but i figured that it was just me. even removing the errant bits would open up his face so much. otherwise he looks great. i am digging the grey suit and yellow tie combo, and the bit of scruff doesn’t bother me. also, i think the french title is big improvement on the film. <3

  • Anonymous

That suit looks so cheap! Did he buy it at Target?

  • Anonymous

Aww, he’s scruffy but so cute! He’ll probably grow out of it in time.

  • http://ultimatevariety.blogspot.com/ Thombeau

I saw him on a talk show recently and he was completely adorable!

  • Anonymous

It’s probably just me, but if your eyebrows are going to be that gigantic, maybe get some slight bangs to hide your slightly large forehead. Although he probably looked great in real light. Camera lighting makes a lot of folks look bad.

  • Anonymous

I don’t mind the little bit of blue-chinnedness. It helps keep him from looking too juvenile. I like the color of his tie, it’s a bit unusual. I agree about the eyebrows. As long as he doesn’t go TOO far with it.

  • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com/ Rebecca

    Thank you!

    His eyebrows cause me PAIN.

  • margaret meyers

More grooming, absolutely.  We won’t snicker about your sexual orientation at all.

And I think small men need to be careful about aggressive tailoring.  It can make you look smaller — his jacket looks like it came from the Boys Department.

  • Lisa

Just the slightest, SLIGHTEST eyebrow trim would be nice.  Not a full-on manscaping, but just a couple of quick “plink plink and we’re done!” with the tweezers.

  • Anonymous

Oh, poor Daniel. I’ve always been mesmerized by that brow. Even when he was in HP1, it was thick.  I’d be OK with most of this if he’d just get a slight tan. Just a little pigment.

  • Anonymous

He has some good bone structure.  Give him a decade and he could develop into quite the hunk.  (No screaming from those who think he’s a hunk already, please.)

  • Anonymous

Thank you! I have lately found myself wondering if the “natural” brow is back in, I have noticed it on some female models lately too… not to say i prefer the over-plucked brows of my youth, but still…some grooming is good, yes?

  • Anonymous

I have bushy caterpillar eyebrows that I rock like nobody’s business and I’m usually an advocate of guys keeping them natural.  Yet little Harry Potter could really stand a trim.

  • Anonymous

  • Anonymous

omg, I was about to say pluck the unibrow. Thank you, TLo for always taking words right out of my mouth.

  • Anonymous

His jacket is a size too small.

  • Damien W

The eyebrows are part of who he is. He’s already made some fairly strong anti-scaping remarks in the press. And who’s to say he doesn’t already mow a lane down the middle between them?

My beef is with his fondness for shiny suits. I don’t care if they are on trend or on drugs. I can’t stand them.

  • Anonymous

what happened? he looked so cute the other day?!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_CQPXLNCBM5CZSHZZXJDHPVFS7E Buffy

I’m loving the yellow tie, most would have gone for the expected red or blue.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, I’m all for a strong brow, but you still need to maintain them a little.

  • Anonymous

    I dig his tie.
